This week we’ll understand what forgiveness truly is, the three major forms of forgiveness and why forgiveness is so important for our adolescents and teens. Then we’ll take a look at some of the challenges that teens face when it comes to forgiveness before we finish up by looking at the health benefits of forgiveness and how you can help your teen be a more forgiving person.
Everyone has or will have to face the prospect of mental, physical or emotional burn out at some point in their lives. With the stress of school and pressures of socializing at an awkward age many teens reach a burn out phase early on. In this episode we’ll look at some of the signs and symptoms to keep an eye on. We’ll talk about some of the common causes of burn out. We will also look at ways to cope with burn out and how to recover from it while also understanding that burn out and stress, while they may be linked are two different and distinct problems to deal with.
What is Peer Acceptance? Why is it important? What impact does it have on our children? This week we’ll address these questions and talk about what exactly peer acceptance is. We’ll explore the importance of peer acceptance on the mental, social and moral development of our children. We’ll also look at what things affect peer acceptance. Why certain teens find it easier to gain acceptance than others. Why certain groups seem to naturally gather in their own groups and how to handle cliques and the lack of acceptance. We all yearn to be accepted. This week we discuss why, and why it benefits us.
What is defiant behavior? Does your teen exhibit symptoms of it? Is there a medical reason for it? We attempt to answer these questions in this weeks episode of the show. We’ll also talk about the suspect causes of this type of behavior, the typical risk factors associated with defiant behavior and strategies for dealing with defiant teens and Oppositional Defiant Disorder or ODD.
This week we follow up on some of the things we discussed in last weeks Body Image podcast when we discuss Eating Disorders. We highlight two specific disorders, Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. We look at some of the common symptoms and learn the signs to watch out for so that we can help out those who might be suffering from these afflictions.
We also take a look at a typical teen diet, some of the challenges facing teens with meal scheduling and nutrition. We learn that despite what we might consider unhealthy eating habits that each of us is unique in our dietary needs and that we can not look at our eating habits from meal to meal. We have to look at our eating habits as a long term dietary regimen to ensure a healthy lifestyle.
