MagicBand Plus Brings Star Wars Bounty Hunts to Galaxy’s Edge
https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/disney-parks-magicband-plus-brings-star-wars-bounty-hunts-to-galaxys-edge/
https://cnet.co/3wnaZJ4

If you’re like us and have made numerous trips to Disney World since they introduce their Magic Band service you probably have a wall full of Magic Bands that you got for free
In recent years Disney has stopped giving away the costly RFID tag holding items and instead force you to pay for them
That wasn’t so bad since you could reuse all the ones you already had and didn’t need to get new ones
Well that might be changing with the introduction of the MagicBand Plus

The new MagicBand Plus is a wearable device similar to the original MagicBand, but these connect to the Play Disney Parks and My Disney Experience apps in both the parks and the hotels.
The initial implementation which was demonstrated for journalist on May 4th for Star Wars Day was obviously Star Wars in nature
The band would allow you to pick up targets from a “job board” in the Galaxy’s Edge area of Hollywood Studios
Using the MagicBand Plus and the app you then play a game of hot or cold to find a bounty randomly assigned to you
You could be searching for droids, different species or other scum and villainy around the specially themed area
As you get close the band will blink green and as you get further from your target it will turn red.
The Play Disney Parks app is there to keep you moving in the right direction so it’s not too difficult
You can also drop your current target and pick up another one at the job board any time

The MagicBand Plus isn’t just tied to Star Wars
It will be able to interact with the Fab 50 statues around the park
There will also be light interactions during nighttime events
And it’s also supposed to be compatible with Amazon’s Alexa if you’re using the as yet unavailable Hey Disney assistant

So how much is this enhanced experience going to cost?
Disney hasn’t released a price on the new bands just yet
Existing bands cost around $30 but vary depending on design
The Walt Disney World News Today blog apparently spotted some new ones on sale for $30, apparently they were inadvertently put on the shelf early and quickly taken down

The new models are battery powered
They are rechargeable and come with a USB charger
It’s unclear how long a charge will last but obviously will depend on how much you’re using them
Fortunately the bands are waterproof in case you forget you have it on and decide to go for a dip

They’re practical but stylish
At launch there are expected to be 16 designs
Some will be solid colors, others will have characters and designs
And yes…you can get a Baby Yoda themed one

There are plans to bring the service to California’s Disneyland but no date has been announced

Disney+ Announces New Lucasfilm Docuseries on Star Wars Day
https://thedirect.com/article/star-wars-lucasfilm-disney-docuseries-new
https://bit.ly/3LsjJTX

Star Wars and Industrial Light and Magic have gone hand in hand for nearly 50 years
Founded by George Lucas in 1975 the visual effects company set the standard for what visual effects were to be from that point forward
ILM made Star Wars defined what Star Wars was
They took us to that galaxy far far away with thousands of breathtaking shots
They also allowed George Lucas’s vision to be realized
ILM was so prolific in the movie making business since its inception that it’s had its hand in countless movies, many of which audiences aren’t even aware of.

Throughout their history Industrial Light and Magic defined the standard by pushing the envelope, repeatedly
It all started with the original Star Wars
Special effects to bring Lucas’s vision to life didn’t exist at the time
ILM literally wrote the book on it as they made the movie
While the special effects didn’t make the movie, they were instrumental in generating that illusion that let the audience suspend disbelief in a way they were never able to before.

ILM has continued that pioneering spirit through the decades
The first CGI used in movies was done by ILM
They continued their groundbreaking work on Mandalorian with their revolutionary new way to shoot on a soundstage with The Volume
The digital recreation of a young Luke Skywalker brought moving making technology leaps and bounds further into the future
For ILM nothing was, or is impossible and there are no boundaries except their own imagination

While the product of their work has been nothing short of spectacular, the science and engineering to achieve that work is equally amazing
Fortunately a new docu-series is coming to Disney+ that will give us a peak behind the curtain at how some of this magic is made and what we can expect to see in the future
Set to debut on the streaming platform on July 27th, fans are expected to get a first look at the series at Star Wars Celebration in May

A detailed dive into the incredible science of movie making that ILM is creating is long overdue
Whether you are a fan of Star Wars or just a fan of filmmaking the series is sure to have something to offer everyone
Lawrence Kasdan, famed Star Wars screenwriter is helming the project and is the perfect choice for the role given his storied history with the Lucas family
Working with Ron Howard and several masters from ILM the new series titled “Light & Magic” will be as epic as the creations that the ILM team have given us over the years

Presented by a surprise panel at Star Wars Celebration later this month we can expect filmmakers to give us a deep dive into the ILM history
We’re still waiting on a trailer for the show but it’s sure to drop sometime around Celebration if not sooner
The panel is scheduled to open the convention on Friday and will likely steal the show
It’s in depth events like this that look to inspire tomorrow’s generation of filmmakers
Exploring the company’s past, the current projects and technologies and giving us a peak of the future of filmmaking this is sure to be a must watch event of the year

[SEGMENT 3: Insightful Picks of the Week] (8-12 minutes)

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness
https://www.marvel.com/movies/doctor-strange-in-the-multiverse-of-madness
https://bit.ly/39oNmbm

If by “madness” they mean confusion then the title is spot on
This movie is a hot mess from start to finish in ways that I can’t even begin to make sense of
The title character who’s supposed to go on a journey of self reflection as he sees his many selves across the multiverse ends up being less developed in the end than he started, how is that even possible?
We see another familiar character evolve into the quintessential evil villain in the first ten minutes of the movie eliminating any sense of surprise or suspense.
A villain, I might add, that we’re supposed to feel sympathetic towards by the end of the movie, despite the fact that the character has once again fallen into the same foibles they’ve delved into in the past
You have cameo’s galor and ultimately (within the first few minutes of those cameos) the unnecessarily brutal deaths of those characters, all of which amount to nothing because it happens in a different universe.
On top of all this, the entire movie is smothered under so much CGI it’s like a scoop of mashed potatoes with a gallon of gravy on top, just way too much CGI and it shows in the actors performances
In the end I’m left scratching my head wondering what the point of the movie was
Where did it take the overall MCU story
Where does it go from here
And ultimately I’m left wanting

This is by far the darkest MCU movie in their storied history, and unnecessarily so
The darkness in the movie is undoubtedly a trademark of Sam Raimi
But it doesn’t add anything to the movie or help to move the plot along, or make you feel anything
Yes there’s a zombie in the movie.
Why? I honestly couldn’t say.
It was telegraphed so poorly so early in the movie that there was no “ah
“ha” moment where it really made sense

There’s a lot of deaths and they’re so graphic that I was shocked to see young kids coming in to the theater to watch the movie

The fight scenes…the many…many…many fight scenes
By end of the movie there was a fatigue of repetitive fight scenes that we could have done away with
Especially the “Sorcerer’s apprentice style one”, you’ll know it when you see it

In retrospect all of this makes Thanos look like a chump
At least by the end of the movie the good guys have come to the conclusion that there’s no point in trying to fight the villain since they can’t win
That is, the good guys who are left. And there aren’t many

Then there’s all the questions I’m left with (Mild Spoiler Alert)
While spiderman appears to be a different person in every universe (or at least a different actor) why is Doctor Strange always the same?
Why is there only one America Chavez across all the multiverse?
Is she a mutant? An alien? An inhuman? What?
Is there really a universe where Wong is chased by angry clowns?
And if so, is that the next spin off series on Disney +?
Are there versions of the hero’s we see in the Earth 818 universe also in the Earth 616 universe?
If so, are they played by the same actors?
Where are the Avengers while someone is tearing apart the multiverse?
Do they only respond to threats to earth?
Are they union or something?
And finally, I thought Kang the Conqueror was supposed to be the new bad guy in this phase of the MCU, where is he?
Spoiler…he doesn’t seem to show up in the movie.

The movie was a mess from start to finish and I’m kind of disappointed that my first venture out to the movies after the pandemic was this.
I could have waited to see this on Disney +

Hi, everyone.

00:01:06:09 – 00:01:08:28
Joseph
Are you patient and understanding with me today, dear.

00:01:12:22 – 00:01:14:13
Michelle
I’ll get back to you on that one. Yeah.

00:01:14:25 – 00:01:17:01
Joseph
Okay. Appreciate the honesty.

00:01:17:20 – 00:01:19:17
Michelle
Okay. That’s what I’m here for.

00:01:19:23 – 00:01:20:27
Joseph
So how are you doing today?

00:01:21:10 – 00:01:23:04
Michelle
I’m doing okay. How are you?

00:01:23:06 – 00:01:38:28
Joseph
I’m doing all right. Another little brief break since our last podcasting sighting happened since then. New notions? Nothing. We had something this weekend or you sent me over South Jersey. Comic book.

00:01:39:04 – 00:02:02:19
Michelle
Oh, that’s tomorrow. It’s the Little South Jersey Frankenstein. Whatever. They’ve had it in different locations. It happens to be at the Swedes Bureau. Holiday Inn. Holiday Inn? Yeah. So didn’t know if we wanted to do that adventure. Yeah. Unfortunately, we were supposed to have something this afternoon, right? That was.

00:02:02:19 – 00:02:03:20
Joseph
Supposed to have.

00:02:03:20 – 00:02:15:10
Michelle
Been last week, but because of the weather, it got pushed out. And unfortunately, it’s another crappy rainy day here in South Jersey, so. Yeah, no, outside again. Today is.

00:02:15:13 – 00:02:15:26
Joseph
Labor.

00:02:16:00 – 00:02:16:27
Michelle
Day. Yeah.

00:02:16:28 – 00:02:17:18
Joseph
Do each.

00:02:17:18 – 00:02:22:27
Michelle
Year? Yeah. Our annual venture to the South or Jersey.

00:02:22:27 – 00:02:24:20
Joseph
Pilgrimage to the Woods and.

00:02:25:16 – 00:02:30:09
Michelle
Woodbine or so. Yeah. So unfortunately, that that had to be.

00:02:30:09 – 00:02:32:19
Joseph
That’s my 11 chance of you to take the drone on.

00:02:32:19 – 00:02:40:18
Michelle
Yeah, I know. Holography and you do such a great job with that too. So yeah, unfortunately, yeah. So another time.

00:02:40:18 – 00:02:42:19
Joseph
I’m sure we’ll, we’ll make up for.

00:02:42:19 – 00:02:43:03
Michelle
It. Yeah.

00:02:43:16 – 00:02:45:04
Joseph
But that’s not what we’re talking about today.

00:02:45:05 – 00:02:46:00
Michelle
No, it’s not.

00:02:46:01 – 00:02:47:13
Joseph
No, we already talked about that.

00:02:47:14 – 00:02:47:24
Michelle
Okay.

00:02:48:08 – 00:03:17:09
Joseph
Today in our Disney detective, we’ll take a look at Magic Band plus and some of the exciting new things they can unlock coming to a theme park near you. In our Tales From the Edge of the Galaxy, we’ll take a look at an innovative new documentary coming out about the famed special effects house on Elm And then we’ll finish up with our review of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, our first attempt to venture out to the movie theater after the pandemic.

00:03:17:11 – 00:03:19:06
Michelle
Well, it wasn’t an attempt. We did it.

00:03:19:06 – 00:03:20:00
Joseph
Well, yeah. I mean.

00:03:20:11 – 00:03:21:05
Michelle
We after we.

00:03:21:09 – 00:03:21:27
Joseph
Succeeded.

00:03:22:09 – 00:03:27:27
Michelle
Our first successful outing into a movie theater since 2019.

00:03:28:03 – 00:03:30:16
Joseph
Now, whether or not it was worth it or not, we’ll talk.

00:03:30:16 – 00:03:35:24
Michelle
And we’ll talk about and yes, it’ll be spoiler ridden so.

00:03:36:05 – 00:03:37:01
Joseph
Late spoilers.

00:03:37:28 – 00:03:41:04
Michelle
For if you haven’t seen it and.

00:03:41:23 – 00:03:52:23
Joseph
I don’t think we talked I don’t have anything in the script. It doesn’t appear here with the exception of one thing that doesn’t appear to some extent in the trailer.

00:03:52:24 – 00:03:55:20
Michelle
All right. Well here’s your warning anyway. Just saying we’ll give.

00:03:55:20 – 00:03:56:23
Joseph
You another warning when we get.

00:03:56:26 – 00:03:57:08
Michelle
Right.

00:03:57:08 – 00:04:00:05
Joseph
So it’s not we’re not giving away the plot or anything like.

00:04:00:06 – 00:04:02:10
Michelle
Right. But still, some people.

00:04:02:25 – 00:04:05:10
Joseph
And I’m vague in the spoilers that I do give.

00:04:05:13 – 00:04:07:02
Michelle
All right. We’ll see Well, so.

00:04:07:08 – 00:04:13:22
Joseph
There’s only one name drop in here that’s not in the trailer. Okay. That is the only real spoiler.

00:04:13:23 – 00:04:15:07
Michelle
Okay. So that’s your first.

00:04:15:19 – 00:04:18:07
Joseph
Show up in the movie so it’s not a spoiler other than he doesn’t show.

00:04:18:07 – 00:04:21:18
Michelle
Up. Okay. For first spoiler of of your warning. So.

00:05:29:26 – 00:05:31:08
Joseph
Are we ready?

00:05:31:12 – 00:05:32:04
Michelle
Sure.

00:05:32:07 – 00:05:32:26
Joseph
Here we go.

00:05:39:11 – 00:06:13:19
Michelle
So it seems that magic band plus is going to bring. Will be bringing Star Wars bounty hunters to galaxy’s edge. So if you’re like us and have made numerous trips to Disney World since they introduced their magic bands service. You probably have a wall full of magic bands that you got for free. In recent years, Disney has stopped giving away the costly RFID tag holding items of and instead forced you to pay for them.

00:06:13:20 – 00:06:36:17
Michelle
If you wanted to now you don’t actually have to get them. So do you want to preface that? That wasn’t so bad since you could reuse all the ones that you already had and you didn’t need to get a new one. Well, that might be changing with the introduction of the Magic Band, plus the new Magic Band, plus is a wearable device similar to the original Magic Band.

00:06:36:26 – 00:07:04:12
Michelle
But these connect to the play Disney Parks and my Disney experience apps in both the parks and the hotels. So the initial implementation, which was demonstrated for journalists on May the fourth four Star Wars day, was obviously star wars in nature. The band would allow you to pick up targets from a job board in the Galaxy’s Edge area of Hollywood studios using the Magic Band Plus and the app.

00:07:04:17 – 00:07:26:08
Michelle
You then play a game of hot or cold to find a bounty randomly assigned to you. You could be searching for droids, different species or other scum and villainy around the specially themed area. As you would get close, the blend would the band would start to blink green, and as you got further from your target, it would turn red.

00:07:26:27 – 00:07:49:18
Michelle
So the play Disney Parks app is there to keep you moving in the right direction. So it’s not too difficult. And then you can also drop your current target and pick up another one at the job board at any time. So the Magic Band plus isn’t just tied to Star Wars. It’ll also be able to interact with the Fab 50 statues that they have throughout the parks.

00:07:50:00 – 00:08:04:00
Michelle
And there will also be light interactions during nighttime events. And also, it’s supposed to be compatible with Amazon’s Alexa. If you’re using it in the yet unavailable or. Hey, Disney assistant.

00:08:04:20 – 00:08:37:05
Joseph
So how much is this entertainment or this enhancement experience going to cost? That’s always my question when it comes to Disney. Disney hasn’t released a price on the new bands just yet. Existing bands cost around $30, but vary depending on design. The Walt Disney World News Today blog apparently spotted some new ones on sale for $30. Apparently, they were inadvertently put on the shelf early and quickly taken down The new models are battery-powered they’re rechargeable and come with a USB charger.

00:08:37:25 – 00:08:57:12
Joseph
It’s unclear how long the charge will last, but obviously it will depend on how much you’re using them. If you’re bounty hunting all day and in galaxy’s edge, they’re not going to last all day. Fortunately, the bands are waterproof in case you forget you have one on and decide to go take a dip, which we used to do with the old magic bands quite frequently.

00:08:58:19 – 00:09:21:26
Joseph
The practical but stylish at launch there’s expected to be 16 designs, so we’ll be solid colors. Our others will have characters and designs and yes, you can get a baby Yoda themed one. There are plans to bring the service to California’s Disneyland, but no date has been announced. So what do you think of these? Do you think that this is the next evolution of this?

00:09:21:26 – 00:09:27:06
Joseph
Do you think that it’s another money grab that we don’t really need it?

00:09:27:25 – 00:09:48:27
Michelle
I think the biggest thing, too, is that okay, so now you have to charge it, right? So you’re going to have people that are going to forget to charge it, I’m sure, you know, just like with their phone or whatever. So the other thing, too, is, does it still work as your your magic band, even if it’s not charge?

00:09:48:27 – 00:09:52:25
Joseph
And that’s a good question. That was unclear in the research that I did for the.

00:09:53:03 – 00:10:04:01
Michelle
Right, because the thing is, when you’re at the park, if you’re a resort guest, that’s your room key. That’s you’re charging benefits. That’s your you know, your park tickets are linked to it.

00:10:04:08 – 00:10:08:19
Joseph
That’s that’s your FastPass to I’m assuming you still need to scan with Genie Plus. Right.

00:10:08:19 – 00:10:34:03
Michelle
Right. Because again, everything is tied to to that. So that would be my thing is what you know, is it just the fact that it doesn’t light up? Right. Is that what the power is for? As we had talked before, I remember when for the hundredth, you know, birthday celebration of Walt Disney, they had these special pins that you could buy.

00:10:34:10 – 00:10:56:12
Michelle
And the idea behind the pin was that they would be interactive. So if you’d go on certain rides during certain scenes, there would be some RFID reader and your pin would start to light up. Or if you were watching the fireworks they’d go off to and it got to the point on some rides where people would just cover it up because it was kind of annoying.

00:10:56:12 – 00:10:58:05
Michelle
And in some respects, so.

00:10:58:05 – 00:11:01:13
Joseph
And it’s similar to the mouse ears that they had tied to the one.

00:11:01:13 – 00:11:08:05
Michelle
Like right to right, because with the mouse ears, they were only tied to the light, so they weren’t tied to anything else.

00:11:08:05 – 00:11:17:05
Joseph
So and that’s one of the things you’re saying is if this is going to be tied to some of the fireworks show, some of the Late Show interactions while you’re watching these things. Right.

00:11:17:05 – 00:11:39:09
Michelle
So I could see because obviously again, we’ve gone, you know, throughout the years and so many times. So they’ve had these kind of scavenger hunt games that were always free. You never had to to pay for them. So now it’s like, all right, so if I want to play this game, can I just use my phone with the app or do now I need.

00:11:39:09 – 00:11:42:07
Joseph
That’s another interesting aspect to look at this.

00:11:42:09 – 00:11:59:14
Michelle
Right. So do I need to have this cute new magic band now? Fortunately, we have the two versions of the Magic Band, the the original, which was, you know, just one band. And then the second version that they came out where it had.

00:11:59:28 – 00:12:00:08
Joseph
You could.

00:12:00:26 – 00:12:11:06
Michelle
You could extract it and they made things so that you didn’t have to actually wear it. You could have it as a keychain. We ended up finding somebody online.

00:12:11:06 – 00:12:12:03
Joseph
Watch band holder.

00:12:12:04 – 00:12:35:01
Michelle
That made it so that for people that actually had a smartwatch so that this way, you know, you’re not wearing all these, you know, so many different things on your wrist. So we have it. So we just put it on, you know, our watches so that you know, you don’t have to be bulky. So, you know, again, it’s another thing to add to your wrist.

00:12:35:01 – 00:12:39:22
Michelle
So many people, again, have smartwatches. Are they going to really want to, you know? Well.

00:12:40:01 – 00:12:56:13
Joseph
And it’s interesting because we’ve talked about the genie plus replacement for fast pants, how it’s so phone intensive. Right. There is a concern of people having to charge their phones. So no, no, not only do you have to worry about charging your phone, but charging your magic band throughout the day, too.

00:12:56:13 – 00:12:56:26
Michelle
Right.

00:12:57:02 – 00:12:58:20
Joseph
That might be a little, little much.

00:12:58:20 – 00:12:59:02
Michelle
Yeah.

00:12:59:03 – 00:12:59:16
Joseph
For most.

00:12:59:16 – 00:13:06:24
Michelle
People. So, you know, obviously we’ll get to kind of see first hand because spoiler, we’re actually.

00:13:07:10 – 00:13:09:08
Joseph
Oh, yeah, we’ll be down there this summer.

00:13:09:08 – 00:13:17:19
Michelle
So we will be down there towards the end of August. A last minute kind of decision to sign.

00:13:17:20 – 00:13:19:02
Joseph
We’ll have a review of that.

00:13:19:02 – 00:13:19:14
Michelle
Yeah.

00:13:19:15 – 00:13:20:28
Joseph
And all things Disney when we come.

00:13:20:29 – 00:13:28:04
Michelle
Yeah, we are. We did decide to try Jean plus four for two of the days that were going into the park.

00:13:28:04 – 00:13:33:07
Joseph
So this could be the trip that completely turns me off from Disney. That’s that’s one possibility.

00:13:34:00 – 00:13:43:05
Michelle
So and honestly, I wasn’t even expecting to go at all this year. I figured if we were going, it was going to be sometime next year. So no.

00:13:43:11 – 00:13:43:27
Joseph
Surprise.

00:13:44:04 – 00:13:46:27
Michelle
Surprise. So more more in-depth.

00:13:47:06 – 00:13:51:22
Joseph
Well, we’ll have a we’ll have a deeper report on these. And they’re having been officially launched yet either.

00:13:51:25 – 00:13:53:01
Michelle
Right. So in.

00:13:53:01 – 00:13:53:17
Joseph
Testing.

00:13:53:17 – 00:13:56:13
Michelle
Right. So we’ll see how this goes. And if we get to.

00:13:56:13 – 00:14:00:03
Joseph
One of the biggest concerns that they do have is the charge time on this.

00:14:00:04 – 00:14:00:27
Michelle
Right. Right.

00:14:01:00 – 00:14:03:00
Joseph
Probably doing some full day tests on them.

00:14:03:11 – 00:14:20:16
Michelle
Right. So and maybe by the time we get down there, you know, we’ll get one and say, but the nice thing was, you know, when I was going through our reservation, it still has all of our bands linked. So we just have to make sure to you know, we have some of the points.

00:14:20:29 – 00:14:25:15
Joseph
I’m going to edge on the side of this is Disney. So this is probably just another money grab.

00:14:25:18 – 00:14:26:23
Michelle
Yeah. Yeah, I’m.

00:14:26:23 – 00:14:28:10
Joseph
Sure. Until they prove otherwise.

00:14:28:10 – 00:14:28:18
Michelle
Yeah.

00:14:30:05 – 00:15:10:27
Joseph

00:15:53:10 – 00:16:27:07
Joseph
Founded by George Lucas in 1975, the visual effects company set the standard for what visual effects were to be. From that point forward, Elan made Star Wars that defined what Star Wars. Once they took us to that galaxy far far away with thousands of breathtaking shots. They also allowed George Lucas’s vision to be realized. Ireland was so prolific in the moviemaking business since its inception that it’s had its hand in countless movies, many of which audiences aren’t even aware of.

00:16:28:24 – 00:16:58:15
Joseph
Throughout the history of industrial light and magic. They define the standard by pushing the envelope repeatedly. It all started with the original Star Wars special effects to bring Lucas vision to life didn’t exist at the time. Ilan literally wrote the book on it as they made the movie. While the special effects didn’t make the movie, They were instrumental in generating that illusion that let audiences suspend disbelief in a way they were never able to before.

00:16:59:24 – 00:17:31:17
Joseph
Ireland has continued that pioneering spirit through the decades. The first CGI used in movies was done by ILM. They continued their groundbreaking work on Mandalorian with their revolutionary new way to shoot on Astounding Soundstage. With the volume, the digital recreation of young Luke Skywalker brought moviemaking technology leaps and bounds further into the future. For ILM, nothing was or is impossible or there are no boundaries except their own imagination.

00:17:32:14 – 00:17:58:08
Michelle
While the product of their work has been nothing short of spectacular, the science and engineering to achieve that work is equally amazing. Fortunately, a new docu series is coming to Disney. Plus, that will give us a peek behind the curtain at how some of this magic is made and what we can expect to see in the future. Set to debut on the streaming platform on July 27th.

00:17:58:17 – 00:18:36:17
Michelle
Fans are expected to get a first look at the series at Star Wars celebration this coming May. A detailed dove into the incredible science of moviemaking that ILM is creating is long overdue. So whether you’re a fan of Star Wars or just a fan of filmmaking, this series is sure to have something to offer everyone. Lawrence Kaddish, the famed Star Wars screenwriter, is helming the project and is the perfect choice for the role, given his storied history with the Lucas family, working with Ron Howard and several masters from ILM.

00:18:36:18 – 00:19:03:16
Michelle
The new series entitled Light and Magic, will be as epic as the creations that the ILM team have given us over the years. Presented by a surprise panel at Star Wars celebration later this month. We can expect filmmakers to give us a deep dove into the ILM history. We’re still waiting on a trailer for the show, but I’m sure it will drop sometime around celebration, if not sooner.

00:19:04:00 – 00:19:33:08
Michelle
The panel is scheduled to open the convention on Friday and will likely steal the show its in-depth events in its depth and depth events like this that look to inspire tomorrow’s generation of filmmakers exploring the company’s past with current projects and technologies and giving us a peek of the future of filmmaking. This is sure to be a must watch event of the year.

00:19:33:26 – 00:19:38:28
Joseph
And if nothing else, Disney Plus has done a fantastic job in the documentaries that they’ve done.

00:19:38:28 – 00:19:39:27
Michelle
Oh, absolutely.

00:19:40:04 – 00:19:42:00
Joseph
One of which is the Boba Fett one we still have.

00:19:42:00 – 00:19:45:26
Michelle
To watch. I think we actually have a few different.

00:19:46:07 – 00:19:49:22
Joseph
Yeah, because you can squeeze in a couple of other series with new episodes.

00:19:49:23 – 00:19:54:05
Michelle
Yeah, yeah. We need to spend like a week just watching all the different documentaries.

00:19:54:06 – 00:20:06:01
Joseph
Yeah, well, and they did at ILM documentary I want to say back in the nineties, okay, when they relaunched, they rereleased Star Wars on CD.

00:20:06:10 – 00:20:10:27
Michelle
Oh, and can you imagine how much more. Yeah. You know, between then and now and then.

00:20:10:29 – 00:20:11:28
Joseph
How being like you.

00:20:12:00 – 00:20:13:21
Michelle
Much bigger. They’ve got money.

00:20:14:06 – 00:20:48:19
Joseph
And they still do practical effects with so much of the practical effects blended with the digital effects. Well, like they mentioned in the research about the volume, just the effect that you get and not even I’m just talking from what the Audience Digest is the realism that you get from having this. Yeah, digital soundstage but when we were watching the documentary on Mandalorian, Carl Weathers is talking about how how helpful and how useful it is realistic it is for the actors now.

00:20:48:20 – 00:20:49:02
Michelle
Right.

00:20:49:14 – 00:21:02:13
Joseph
Where you can shoot on a soundstage and instead of, you know, interacting with a puppet or a stand in a proxy on stage, you’re interacting with something that’s literally there, right?

00:21:02:13 – 00:21:15:20
Michelle
Or instead of having like the green screen because that was right. The big thing with the prequels, the Star Wars prequels, when you saw anything from behind the scenes, they were basically on a green soundstage. There was nothing.

00:21:15:24 – 00:21:24:25
Joseph
Everything was there goes with digital and they talk about the one episode in the Mandalorian season one finale where they’re on the Lava River.

00:21:24:28 – 00:21:25:08
Michelle
Hmm.

00:21:25:14 – 00:21:35:10
Joseph
And they’re stationary in this boat on the floor. But because of the effect of the volume, he said he started getting motion sick because it was that realistic.

00:21:35:11 – 00:21:35:22
Michelle
Wow.

00:21:36:11 – 00:21:41:27
Joseph
And it’s one of those things where it’s just the technology itself isn’t there just for the audience.

00:21:41:29 – 00:21:42:28
Michelle
Right. All right.

00:21:43:25 – 00:21:56:17
Joseph
You know, we saw prior to Ireland, you had like, you know, Ray Harryhausen was the king of special effects, miniatures and everything. Yeah. And that elevated moviemaking to a level we hadn’t seen before.

00:21:56:18 – 00:21:56:27
Michelle
Mm hmm.

00:21:57:15 – 00:22:02:07
Joseph
But what ILM does now is just incredible. Yeah. And they do they really set the standard for it.

00:22:02:15 – 00:22:11:04
Michelle
And like you said, it’s not just the Star Wars. Movies or Disney, any movie that has any sort of special effects. If you sit and watch the credits for.

00:22:11:04 – 00:22:11:22
Joseph
The credits.

00:22:12:00 – 00:22:13:29
Michelle
ILM is mentioned like.

00:22:14:03 – 00:22:15:16
Joseph
Skywalker Sound too.

00:22:15:16 – 00:22:24:02
Michelle
Yeah. 90% of the time, the two of them, you know, basically make almost every movie, you know, out there, these.

00:22:24:02 – 00:22:31:04
Joseph
Original computer graphics that were featured in the Abyss realm before anyone had ever thought of doing anything like that.

00:22:31:05 – 00:22:31:14
Michelle
Mm hmm.

00:22:31:24 – 00:22:37:01
Joseph
You know, animating water. Right. How do you animate water? And they figured out how to do it.

00:22:37:02 – 00:22:37:12
Michelle
Yeah.

00:22:37:23 – 00:22:42:22
Joseph
You know, the the liquid metal features from Terminator.

00:22:42:22 – 00:22:43:08
Michelle
Terminator.

00:22:43:22 – 00:22:51:24
Joseph
That was ILM, like all the amazing stuff that. Well, you at the theater, ILM and and everyone else comes in and just reuses those tanks over and over.

00:22:51:25 – 00:22:52:16
Michelle
Yeah. Yeah.

00:22:53:04 – 00:23:08:11
Joseph
So I’m looking forward to this and this is going to be a great series to to watch. It didn’t say how many, how many episodes it was going to be, but I suspect it’s going to be one of those ones where they’re going to drop, you know, a block of episodes, and then you might see them come back with with more feeling.

00:23:08:19 – 00:23:09:20
Michelle
I could see that. Yeah.

00:23:10:14 – 00:23:20:29
Joseph
So anyway, that was it for our Tales from the Edge of the Galaxy. And we’ll be back in a minute with our review of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

00:23:28:10 – 00:23:47:00
Michelle

Michelle
Each week we talk about the topics concerning today’s youth. We look at how the issues affect teens, how to cope with these issues, and how parents, friends and loved ones can help teens handle these challenges.

00:24:05:21 – 00:24:23:13
Michelle

00:24:33:23 – 00:25:10:06
Joseph
So our first attempt to go to the movie theater since 2019 and we chose to end our exile with Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness. And if my madness the mean confusion then the title is spot on. This movie was a hot mess from start to finish in ways that I can’t even begin to make sense of the title character who’s supposed to go on a journey of self-reflection as he sees as many selves across the multiverse, ends up somehow being less developed in the end than he started.

00:25:10:22 – 00:25:46:15
Joseph
How that’s even possible, I don’t know. We see another familiar character evolve in the quint and into the quintessential evil villain in the first 10 minutes of the movie, eliminating any sense of surprise or suspense. It was almost like Kylo Ren taking his mask off for the first 5 minutes of the first sequel movie. It did, like, kill the whole thing A villain, I might add, that we’re supposed to feel sympathetic towards by the end of the movie, despite the fact that the character has once again fallen into the same foibles they’ve delved into in the past.

00:25:47:28 – 00:26:08:27
Joseph
You have cameos galore, and ultimately within the first few minutes of those cameos, the unnecessarily brutal deaths of those characters, all of which amount to nothing because it happens in a different universe. On top of this, the entire movie is smothered under so much CGI. It’s like a scoop of mashed potatoes with a gallon of gravy on top.

00:26:09:17 – 00:26:33:10
Joseph
Just way too much CGI. And it shows in the actor’s performances In the end, I’m left scratching my head wondering what was the point of the movie? Where did it take the overall MCU story? Where does it go from here? And ultimately, I’m left wanting. You know, we had just talked about CGI and how it enhances it and using the volume and all that stuff.

00:26:33:10 – 00:27:00:04
Joseph
And clearly they did all this stuff on a green screen because the actors portrayal of so much stuff that’s happening on the screen around them is so muted because it’s on a green screen and you can tell when you have too much CGI because on the screen when you’re watching this, you have all kinds of crazy stuff happening and you have an actor focusing on one point and it really detracts from it.

00:27:00:07 – 00:27:01:13
Joseph
What what are your thoughts?

00:27:02:02 – 00:27:27:21
Michelle
I didn’t think it was that bad but but I think it had to use CGI because again, with all of these places that they were going, I don’t know if you could have done it in a practical way. So.

00:27:27:21 – 00:27:32:13
Joseph
Well, no, I agree with that. But that’s where something like the volume comes into play.

00:27:32:13 – 00:27:33:26
Michelle
Right. And I’m surprised.

00:27:33:26 – 00:27:35:25
Joseph
That something as a frame of reference.

00:27:35:25 – 00:28:05:26
Michelle
Yeah. Yeah, I could I could have seen that. And and I’m trying not to say anything that doesn’t spoil anything. Yes, it did. Kind of, you know, leave your head scratching at the end. Okay. What what was the point? But it almost seems like you have to watch the next one to understand what the ramifications of everything that happened in this movie.

00:28:06:09 – 00:28:12:11
Joseph
Were helped by that. So I think this was by far the darkest MCU movie.

00:28:12:12 – 00:28:13:05
Michelle
Absolutely.

00:28:13:05 – 00:28:34:18
Joseph
We’ve seen. And I think it was unnecessarily so. You know, the darkness in this movie was undoubtedly a trademark of of the director of Sam Raimi, but it didn’t add anything to the movie to help the movie or the plot along or make you feel anything And yes, as shown in the preview, there is a zombie in the movie.

00:28:34:22 – 00:28:54:07
Joseph
Why? I’m not really sure why the plot didn’t really call for there were easily ways to work around it. What got me was that telegraphed it so poorly early in the movie that there was like no aha moment where oh, that makes sense. That’s why we would do something like that. What do you think? Do you think it was dark?

00:28:54:20 – 00:29:30:18
Michelle
Oh, it was definitely dark. It was probably one of the most dark MCU movies that they’ve they’ve had almost more so a horror movie in a lot of cases. There were a lot of jump scenes that normally the MCU isn’t known for, not I wouldn’t say it was as dark as a lot of the DC movies have been in that respect, because DC tends to be very dark and brooding and gothic.

00:29:30:18 – 00:29:47:11
Michelle
So it wasn’t that kind of dark. It was just not you’re happy like Guardians of the Galaxy. You know, even Endgame has some some moments, but wasn’t. Yeah, there’s there’s no horror aspect to it, you know, did so did that.

00:29:47:11 – 00:29:54:06
Joseph
Darkness add to the to the movie? Did it enhance it? Was it necessary to get the point of the movie across?

00:29:55:05 – 00:30:17:07
Michelle
I don’t know. In some respects I didn’t mind it, you know, I didn’t know. I’m the type of person I don’t want to read about a movie beforehand. I don’t want to see too many spoilers I don’t want to see too many commercials or trailers. Right. Because I want to go and be entertained and be surprised and not know what’s going to happen.

00:30:17:07 – 00:30:30:20
Michelle
Where you read the synopsis. So you know everything that’s going to happen from start to finish. And that’s why if you ever tell me about anything, I will immediately divorce you and we already have that written thing, like, don’t tell.

00:30:30:20 – 00:30:31:18
Joseph
Me it was in our prenup.

00:30:31:23 – 00:31:03:29
Michelle
That was in our prenup. So don’t tell me because I want to be surprised. So I think for me, it kind of added to the adventure, like, okay, this is kind of maddening. This is kind of dark and, you know, because because Doctor Strange, his whole story is kind of weird and twisted and. Sure, you know, so in some respects, you know, like, if they had done this with, like, Captain America, it totally wouldn’t work.

00:31:04:02 – 00:31:14:19
Michelle
Right. You know, but with Doctor Strange, he kind of has that, you know, and there were these, you know, little tie ins from, like, what if? And, you know, and.

00:31:14:20 – 00:31:21:04
Joseph
Okay, okay. And that’s a good point. Let’s run with that. So they had tie ins to these one off series.

00:31:21:12 – 00:31:22:17
Michelle
Disney Plus. Right.

00:31:25:13 – 00:31:33:14
Joseph
Do what does the movie work without those? Because not everybody watch those. I have two people at work who are MCU fans who didn’t watch those series.

00:31:33:18 – 00:31:42:13
Michelle
Yeah. And I think it’s one of those things where you you have to know about opera to understand what where at.

00:31:42:13 – 00:31:47:00
Joseph
Least one of the characters who shows up makes no sense if you didn’t watch what is.

00:31:47:00 – 00:32:13:14
Michelle
Right. Exactly. Be like, who are you and how? Whereas if you watch what is, then you go, hey, I remember you. Or even, you know, the the other series that was on Disney. Plus, you kind of need to watch that to understand, you know, and this is almost where not, you know, with with Star Wars with the new trilogy’s.

00:32:13:24 – 00:32:15:18
Joseph
Where it’s would happened outside of the.

00:32:15:18 – 00:32:27:17
Michelle
Movie. So much happened outside where you kind of go, where did the first order come from where if they had had Disney plus to do these little shows.

00:32:27:21 – 00:32:29:15
Joseph
And they still even haven’t done it on Disney.

00:32:29:17 – 00:32:53:06
Michelle
Right. But that’s what I had in mind and that’s what I’m saying is like at least with the MCU, they did kind of fill in those gaps. Yeah. So they didn’t necessarily say you had to watch them. But if you did watch those shows, you’d have a better understanding of, you know, and then, of course, the third MCU show that you thought maybe possibly was going to have some sort of tie in.

00:32:53:12 – 00:32:55:13
Joseph
And I’ll cut that one off in the end.

00:32:55:14 – 00:32:55:24
Michelle
Yeah.

00:32:55:24 – 00:33:15:14
Joseph
So so there’s a lot of deaths. Yeah. Those deaths tend to be very graphic. So when we were walking in, there was a father coming in with two kids, probably six or seven years old, somewhere in that range. Excited kids are going to see Doctor Strange that’s not the movie that I would have that age group go see.

00:33:15:17 – 00:33:16:00
Michelle
Yeah.

00:33:16:10 – 00:33:31:22
Joseph
This was not your you’re Guardians of the Galaxy. You know, a little bit of bad language, but overall, it’s a it’s a good movie for kids, right? This was really graphic novel was a dark, but it was graphic.

00:33:32:02 – 00:33:32:09
Michelle
In.

00:33:32:09 – 00:33:35:01
Joseph
What they were not nudity graphic but violent in print.

00:33:35:02 – 00:33:35:28
Michelle
Right. Right.

00:33:36:02 – 00:33:39:13
Joseph
Much more so than you see in Disney movies.

00:33:39:14 – 00:33:39:27
Michelle
Right.

00:33:40:07 – 00:33:44:04
Joseph
So I’m kind of surprised that Disney allowed a lot of that stuff to happen in movies.

00:33:44:04 – 00:33:46:29
Michelle
Right. With a PG 13 rating.

00:33:46:29 – 00:34:11:29
Joseph
So there were fight scenes. There were lots and lots of fight scenes. There were so many fight scenes that by the end of the movie, there was just this 50 of fight scenes. And we wound up getting what I want to call the Sorcerer’s Apprentice fight, which it was like they got to the end of the movie there, and they were like, Oh, you know, we got another fight scene.

00:34:12:00 – 00:34:19:24
Joseph
We need to do something interesting. All right, let’s do this. And it was just so overall the way that they did it.

00:34:19:26 – 00:34:20:09
Michelle
Yeah.

00:34:21:08 – 00:34:42:22
Joseph
And you know, the Sorcerer’s Apprentice scene, when you get there in the movie, it was a unique way of doing it. But by that point in the movie, I was just so exhausted from all the fights, you know, that I didn’t I didn’t want to see another fight. I kind of just one of the bolts moved the plot along, like it seemed like we were getting bogged down in these fight scenes and the plot wasn’t moving fast enough.

00:34:42:23 – 00:34:43:02
Michelle
Okay.

00:34:45:20 – 00:35:23:10
Joseph
So overall, the the one thing that I walked away with from this was that it made panels look like he was insignificant. You have one person who literally tear through the equivalent of The Avengers within 10 minutes when it took The Avengers, you know, two movies to beat Thanos I it just made Thanos seem insignificant. Again, like, I know you kind of have to build the next villain up and you have to have the next big villain for the next phase of the thing.

00:35:23:10 – 00:35:25:25
Michelle
But we like.

00:35:27:01 – 00:35:33:23
Joseph
This person who was the bad guy here, could have torn Thanos, could have literally torn Thanos into pieces and the ribbons.

00:35:34:28 – 00:35:35:12
Michelle
Hmm.

00:35:35:20 – 00:35:40:05
Joseph
So it kind of detracts from the accomplishments we’ve seen already in the MCU.

00:35:40:07 – 00:35:46:28
Michelle
I know, because that has killed a whole lot more people but, you know, did it in the snap.

00:35:46:28 – 00:35:49:15
Joseph
But he only did that because he had the glove, right?

00:35:50:20 – 00:35:52:17
Michelle
Because he wasn’t all that powerful without it.

00:35:52:17 – 00:35:59:14
Joseph
Every time someone fought Thanos, they lost Thanos, beat the Hulk up. Thanos, be thorough. Thanos beat everybody up.

00:35:59:20 – 00:36:06:26
Michelle
Right. But then I was didn’t know. Yeah, he didn’t kill them. He just beat them up. Right. But could Thanos have killed them?

00:36:06:26 – 00:36:08:18
Joseph
And I think he could have.

00:36:09:08 – 00:36:10:11
Michelle
Why didn’t he, though?

00:36:11:04 – 00:36:14:04
Joseph
Because he had to snap his fingers and feet judge them.

00:36:14:26 – 00:36:15:10
Michelle
Because that was.

00:36:15:10 – 00:36:29:10
Joseph
Really. It just seemed like you were you. We had this, I don’t know, eight movie build up the fantasy of being this really bad guy who’s right? Destroy the universe. And and then we have this one person here who literally could have destroyed them apart. Kind of waiting in the wings.

00:36:29:10 – 00:36:30:08
Michelle
Maybe, maybe.

00:36:31:24 – 00:36:42:27
Joseph
And then we’re left obviously, with questions. So there’s a lot of questions that come out of this. One thing we learn, and this is where our mild spoilers come into play, just for.

00:36:42:27 – 00:36:44:02
Michelle
The spoiler spoiler.

00:36:44:02 – 00:37:12:17
Joseph
Spoiler alert. So we see in Spider-Man, No Way Home that different Spider-Man that come from different universes are played by different actors. It seems like every iteration of Doctor Strange is played by the same person. Is that unusual? Seems like all the characters associated with Doctor Strange are played by the same person. Is Doctor Strange, his universe somehow tidally locked we’re Spider-Man’s is.

00:37:12:18 – 00:37:35:22
Joseph
And then we’re introduced to a new character here, which they talk about in the trailer. So I’m not afraid to mention this character and their abilities and stuff, but there seems to be only one version of this new character for us all. The multiverse is that in fact of their power is that in spite of their power? And what is this person?

00:37:35:22 – 00:37:41:29
Joseph
Are they a mutant, an alien and inhuman? What are they that gave them this power? That they’re describing?

00:37:42:03 – 00:37:42:14
Michelle
Hmm.

00:37:44:13 – 00:37:58:19
Joseph
And then is there really a universe or. Wong is chased by angry clowns. You’ll see that in the end. It’s it briefly mentioned in there, but, you know, the question begs to be asked is at the next Disney plus spinoff that we’re going to get the next series.

00:37:58:28 – 00:37:59:14
Michelle
And why.

00:37:59:14 – 00:38:00:07
Joseph
Did the clowns.

00:38:00:10 – 00:38:01:27
Michelle
Walk in? The clowns? Hmm.

00:38:02:28 – 00:38:26:26
Joseph
Are there versions of heroes we see on Earth? 818 and one of the alternate universes? Are they also on our 616, which is the canon universe that we technically live in? If so, are they played by the same actors? Can we expect to see some of these faces show up again in later Marvel films? And where are The Avengers when someone’s tearing apart the multiverse?

00:38:26:29 – 00:38:32:19
Joseph
Do they only respond to threats from Earth? What are they using now or something? Do they not show up anymore?

00:38:32:19 – 00:39:03:09
Michelle
Well, and that was something that Maddie and I were talking about. And I said, well, you know, Spider-Man is, you know, always in New York City is a friendly neighborhood. Spider-Man, right. You know, depending on where things are, maybe in some alternate universe, somebody is out in California and maybe, you know, they don’t have they don’t know that something’s going on someplace else because maybe they’re dealing with something else out in California or in Canada or Mexico or somewhere in Europe.

00:39:03:10 – 00:39:13:20
Joseph
So when when the aliens open a portal over New York, all The Avengers showed up. Now we’ve got monsters showing up on the streets of New York. You’d think some news outlet would pick it up.

00:39:13:24 – 00:39:20:11
Michelle
But Dr. Strange wasn’t there, was he not? Well, had he not become part of.

00:39:20:15 – 00:39:23:07
Joseph
You know, he got he was he was at the sanctuary.

00:39:24:28 – 00:39:25:02
Michelle
Like.

00:39:25:07 – 00:39:27:14
Joseph
Yeah, because he woke up from a nightmare.

00:39:27:21 – 00:39:28:15
Michelle
Oh, okay.

00:39:28:28 – 00:39:29:09
Joseph
Yeah.

00:39:29:11 – 00:39:32:03
Michelle
Well, where was Ant-Man? Where, you know, exactly there.

00:39:32:03 – 00:39:51:07
Joseph
The Avengers. Where were they? Right on vacation. That that’s where my question comes in. And finally, here’s the biggest spoiler that we’re going to talk about here. So we learn of a new villain at the end of the Loki series on Disney plus.

00:39:51:08 – 00:39:51:17
Michelle
Mm.

00:39:52:11 – 00:40:19:21
Joseph
He is billed to be the big bad guy for this new phase of the MCU. Hmm. He’s already tied to multi universes, so he’s a mighty versatile kind of guy. Everyone thought he’s going to show up here, and he does it right, which left me feeling. Where did this film go? It didn’t take us anywhere. Where was this guy?

00:40:19:21 – 00:40:23:07
Joseph
And I’m not even going to mention his name because I know you’re going to yell at me for spoilers.

00:40:23:09 – 00:40:23:20
Michelle
No.

00:40:24:02 – 00:40:25:22
Joseph
Let’s find Kang the Conqueror.

00:40:26:19 – 00:40:28:23
Michelle
Where we got spoiled in.

00:40:29:03 – 00:40:55:21
Joseph
There was Gang the Conqueror He doesn’t even get an honorable mention here. And that kind of disappointed me because, you know, as we lead through all that stuff with Thanos, Daniels was making appearances in Post-credits scene, stuff like that, and it was all adding up. So I don’t know. I don’t get it. So for my perspective and I’m sure you’re going to disagree, the movie was a mess from start to finish.

00:40:55:21 – 00:41:06:20
Joseph
And I’m kind of disappointed that my first venture to the movies after the pandemic was this. This is one of those ones I think I could have safely waited to see on Disney. Plus, what’s your conclusion.

00:41:08:24 – 00:41:38:15
Michelle
I didn’t think it was you know, obviously Doctor Strange isn’t one of my favorites from, you know, the MCU and that’s the whole thing is I’m I’m not like a purist. I never read any of the comics. So the only way I’m learning about these various characters is obviously from the shows, the movies and whatnot. So I’m just kind of like going along for the ride.

00:41:38:16 – 00:41:46:02
Michelle
I’m okay. This is who this is and so there’s nothing for me to be disappointed with. Okay.

00:41:46:16 – 00:41:47:07
Joseph
Fair enough.

00:41:47:07 – 00:41:51:09
Michelle
Obviously, I was very excited with one of the cameos yes.

00:41:52:11 – 00:41:54:03
Joseph
The brief as it may brief.

00:41:54:03 – 00:41:55:01
Michelle
As it was.

00:41:55:01 – 00:41:56:11
Joseph
And dramatic as it.

00:41:56:13 – 00:42:01:15
Michelle
Wasn’t dramatic. Yes. But it was nice to see that character here.

00:42:02:05 – 00:42:05:28
Joseph
Which means we might see more of that character, which would be awesome.

00:42:05:28 – 00:42:13:29
Michelle
Right. You know, it’s a character who who she happens to be my favorite MCU character.

00:42:14:02 – 00:42:16:06
Joseph
And have a couple of parts. Actually.

00:42:16:22 – 00:42:18:05
Michelle
She’s kind of over there.

00:42:18:05 – 00:42:18:27
Joseph
And over.

00:42:18:29 – 00:42:41:03
Michelle
There and and so for, you know, it was one of those when you know her, she came out in the beginning and kind of went away. It was kind of like, okay, you know, but she she was there at least. And then all of a sudden, you know, she kind of came back. And even though she was only in cartoon form, it was still kind of cool.

00:42:41:11 – 00:42:45:16
Michelle
So to see her actually in the flesh was like.

00:42:46:02 – 00:42:49:17
Joseph
Yeah, we loved the actress that played absolutely.

00:42:49:17 – 00:43:02:28
Michelle
So so there’s my spoiler, you know, spoiler, spoiler, spoiler. It was Captain Carter. So that kind of was like, all right, there’s hope that, yeah, maybe she might.

00:43:02:29 – 00:43:09:19
Joseph
And in all fairness, she does show up in the where a sign of her shows up in the trailer. Right, right. Too much of a spoiler right.

00:43:09:19 – 00:43:19:26
Michelle
And so I kind of knew because when we watch the trailer, I did pause and I was like, yeah. So of course, when she finally did, you know, come out, I was like, Oh. And then, of course, you know.

00:43:20:17 – 00:43:28:10
Joseph
But in front of us. All right, so give me a give me a one out of five stars. Five being the best.

00:43:28:26 – 00:43:29:10
Michelle
For.

00:43:29:29 – 00:43:44:24
Joseph
Saying I would have give a three. You know, I don’t I don’t think it was terrible. I think as a standalone movie, it was it was acceptable I think as a part of the overall MCU theme, I’m still left scratching.

00:43:44:29 – 00:43:54:13
Michelle
Right. It definitely when you look at the overall MCU, it it does kind of. But like I think the Eternals is worse.

00:43:54:18 – 00:43:56:09
Joseph
Oh, it was it was it was terrible.

00:43:56:09 – 00:44:06:18
Michelle
You know, where that made no sense. And that was a total standalone movie. There were no characters from anywhere.

00:44:06:19 – 00:44:08:04
Joseph
Well, it wasn’t a very good movie.

00:44:08:10 – 00:44:17:22
Michelle
Yeah. And that, too, at least with, you know, most of the others, there’s some threat of somebody that, you know, brings you along very.

00:44:17:23 – 00:44:18:20
Joseph
Through in this one.

00:44:18:20 – 00:44:19:19
Michelle
Right. Right.

00:44:19:29 – 00:44:40:06
Joseph
