[SEGMENT 1: Tales from the Edge of the Galaxy] (8-12 minutes)
Classic Star Wars Novel Being Adapted Into Disney+ Movie
Disney may be greedy.
They may be selfish.
They may treat their cast members like dirt.
They may treat their fans like sheep to be sheared at an uncomfortable rate.
But one thing Disney isn’t is stupid.
Disney knows a gold mine when they see it
Disney also usually knows when to fix mistakes they’ve made
Though the jury is still out on the Bob Chapek mistake they’ve yet to fix
Rumors abound that Disney’s first full-length feature film for Disney+ might very well be their attempt to correct the ship and fix a major mistake they made with the Star Wars franchise
We’ve talked about the genius of Timothy Zahn and his Thrawn trilogy many times on this podcast
It is what should legitimately have been the proper sequel to the original Star Wars trilogy instead of that hot mess of a disjointed jumble of plots and misused under developed characters in episodes 7, 8 and 9
It’s also the biggest crime against Star Wars that Disney perpetrated when it relegated the compelling story and dynamic characters to the realm of “Legends” in one fell swoop by declaring all Expanded Universe content non-canon
Disney realized how much of a cash cow those novels, or at least the characters in them were and have been working to correct their mistake
A series of Thrawn books have come out under Disney, though not the same story as that presented in Zahn’s original novels
Thrawn has appeared in comics as well as in animated series such as Rebels
When references to Thrawn based stories were dropped in The Mandalorian and Thrawn was name dropped in the Ashoka episode hope sprang anew that we’d see our favorite blue skinned villain on the silver screen
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here
Disney has already decided to back off the over milking of the proverbial Star Wars cow in theaters after they saturated the market with their peculiarly disconnected set of unnecessary story lines.
Solo: A Star Wars Movie (that should have never been made) failed to wow the audience.
Of course going out of your way to cast someone in the iconic role of Han Solo who had absolutely no resemblance to the original actor didn’t help
But squeezing years of Expanded Universe back stories about the beloved smuggler into just a few days and trying to pass it off as genuine didn’t help either
There was even criticism about Rogue One’s performance at the box office
I don’t know how greedy Disney is to label Rogue One a failure financially, but the movie itself was brilliant and a refreshing return to the Star Wars I knew from my youth
And come on, short of in an animated series you’ve never seen Vader so badass as you did in that hallway scene
Regardless of how successful the fans might or might think these movies were Disney decided to focus on the small screen with their Disney+ offerings
While they managed to strike gold with The Mandalorian, the Book of (Everyone but) Boba…well frankly it sucked until it became The Mandalorian season 2.5 in the middle of the season
We’re eagerly awaiting Andor, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan…I think the bartender from Freetown is due next for his own spinoff but I’m not sure
Anyway, with all of these storylines soon to roll out on Disney+ there’s a real danger they might be milking this venue for more than they deserve at this point.
So the rumors of a Disney+ movie might be a collection of half truths, wishful thinking and Disney focus groups trying to feel out the fans
However, if they are remotely accurate then there’s reason for Thrawn fans everywhere to get excited
The current rumor mill suggests that Disney is taking a page from the Kevin Feige playbook
With all the irons in the fire Disney may be moving all these disparate stories towards a unified conclusion in the form of a Disney+ movie
That movie, if Giant Freaking Robot is to be believed is based on Zahn’s novel Heir to the Empire, the first in the Thrawn trilogy
It’s even rumored that Lars Mikkelsen is the leading candidate to play the blue skinned, red eyed art aficionado himself
Mikkelsen played thrawn in the animated series Rebels
He also happens to be brother of none other than Rogue One actor Mads MIkkelsen who played Jyn Erso’s father Galen Erso
There are some problems with this idea though
Not all of the series can really be tied into a Thrawn story given the timeframe of the stories
The first series to be ruled out is Andor.
Since Andor obviously has to take place before Rogue One in which the title character meets his end, and Rogue One happened before A New Hope the timing would be a few years off
The other series to rule out is Obi-Wan
Since our favorite over aged jedi meets his end on the Death Star at the hands of Darth Vader he’s not around (At least in the physical sense) after A New Hope
That leaves us with The Mandalorian and it’s plethora of spin offs like Ashoka and The Book of (Everyone but) Boba.
I’m not sure that’s enough story to bring together in an Avengers-esc style for the effect Disney would be looking for
But then again, this is a streaming platform and not the big screen so it might work
At the end of Rebels the fate of Thrawn is unknown
However, we can assume based on what we learn from Ashoka in her episode of The Mandalorian that Thawn indeed did survive
Given his questionable departure in rebels that could certainly setup a similar situation as his special assignment from the Emperor in the novels that removed him from the overall fight with the Rebels and saved him, giving him a chance to return
Does Star Wars really need to model Avengers?
I’d like to think that Disney, one of the most famous creative companies in history is creative enough to let Star Wars live on its own without having to get formulaic with it and copy the roadmap of another successful franchise
It’s Star Wars for god sake, you’d have to be a complete idiot to not be successful with it.
Oh wait…right…Disney has a proven track record of not being successful with it already
Well…maybe the Feige formula is needed after all
But I’d like to think that there’s more than enough top notch story in the Expanded Universe (yes, I refuse to refer to it as “legends”) to satiate every Star Wars fan out there
That’s not to say every Star Wars fan loved the Expanded Universe.
In fact I’m pretty sure R.A. Salvatore still gets hate mail for killing of Chewbacca
But let’s face it, dropping a moon on the wookiee to kill him was infinitely more epic than any deaths we’ve seen either before or since in the Star Wars Universe
What’s in name…besides a few repeated letters for the bad guys
So the corniest thing to come out of the Thrawn trilogy was Zahn’s penchant for double lettering the evil clones
I mean, couldn’t he just stick to the stereotypical alternate universe method of giving the alternate bad guys goatee’s?
No, instead we turn Jorus C’Baoth into Joruus C’Baoth and even Luke gets cloned to become…what else Luuke.
It was not one of the brighter aspects of the novels, but if that’s my biggest complaint then the novels are doing far better than the sequel movies.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m excited at the prospect of Heir to the Empire going mainstream and legit
Until that happens, there is passable effort underway by a private fan to put this story into an animated format on Youtube if you want to look it up
I watched chapter one, and while it might be hard to get through the animation the voice acting is actually really well done.
[SEGMENT 2: Entertainment News] (8-12 minutes)
Are you a fan of the Walking Dead?
No…well you’re probably not alone at this point in the franchise history
The concept of a post apocalyptic world crawling with the undead seems to have run its course in popular culture
Yet The Walking Dead franchise continues to march on, though to an inevitable conclusion at the end of season 11…or so we thought
While it was announced already the Daryl and Carol will get their own spin off we’re now told that Maggie and Neegan, voted the two least likely characters in TV history to have a spinoff show together are getting one
With Daryl and Carol you can see the chemistry and the stories that can happen between them
Whether it’s a continuation of things after this final season of the flagship franchise or even an attempt to go back and fill in some backstory of the time hops the continuing story of the pair works
Maggie and Neegan, it’s hard to see how that works.
We’ve seen the two characters interacting in this final season and it’s been…rough
There’s understandable tension between the two…some might call it hatred
Afterall, Neegan did go all “batman” on Maggie’s husband killing him in Season 7, something one tends to hold a grudge over
But their interactions in this final season up until Neegan decides to go walkabout seemed forced and awkward.
There was predictable drama and tension but it was too formulaic
There was little left between them to explain how they could wind up going off on their own adventure
However, it’s worth noting that the season isn’t over yet and thankfully Neegan is expected to make a return by the end
The premise of the new show titled “Isle of the Dead” is that Neegan and Maggie wind up in a Manhattan that’s been cutoff from the mainland for some time
From what’s been reported, the island has a unique ecosystem of Zombies and Humans that we’ve not seen before
It’s been hinted that scenes from the closing episode of “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” in which we see supercharged zombies similar to those found in the feature film World War Z might be in play
In which case they might have to rebrand the franchise “The Running Dead”…but that just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
The biggest challenge with this whole concept is why?
Why would Maggie team up with her husband’s murder?
Why would Neegan trust Maggie if he already left knowing that things weren’t likely going to end well for him if he stayed?
Why would they go to Manhattan?
Why would Maggie give up Hilltop, Alexandria and presumably her young son Hershel since there was no mention of him in the press release?
And most importantly, why do we need another Walking Dead series?
Very little has been revealed as far as the plot is concerned
Aside from the two protagonists and the destination we learn very little about the world north of the hot and humid forests of Georgia
There are large organizational elements that arise from both World Beyond and Walking Dead that could contribute to the story but have not been mentioned thus far in the new series
We don’t know what forced Maggie or Neegan to head north, though I suspect some of that might be revealed by the end of season 11
Maybe Maggie is hunting Neegan, that could be an interesting plot twist
We can speculate on what the story is going to be about, but that’s more wishful thinking than anything.
This is expected to be a limited season of only six episodes so there’s only so much story that can be told
There is hope that we might see a return to a more frightening type of Zombie rather than the mild annoyance they seemed to have turned into from a plot standpoint.
It’s also possible this could be a setup for the promised trilogy of movies starring Andrew Lincoln that were promised back in 2018
What is clear is that it’s going to take a serious amount of creative writing to make this pairing and destination make sense to loyal viewers.
One thing that’s funny is that the new cast was a bit shocked too:
Based on comments he made recently, Jeffrey Dean Morgan would have preferred for that to not be spoiled. “I guess we don’t need to die. Spoiler alert, folks. Sorry!” “I’m still not sure why we announced that already. It was sort of a shocker to me.”
“Isle of the Dead” is slated to premier on AMC+ in 2023
“Fear the Walking Dead” is now in its seventh season
The limited series “Walking Dead: The World Beyond” aired from 2020-21
A new episodic anthology “Tales of the Walking Dead” is due this summer
and an untitled series starring Norman Reedus as Darryl and Melissa McBride as Carol is also due in 2023.
A trio of films starring the series’ original protagonist Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is also expected.
[SEGMENT : Convention Recap] (8-12 minutes)
Zolocon: Sci-Fi/Fantasy Expo
Billed as the Largest Comic and Toy Expo in Bucks County!
Not exactly an appeal to the larger world or even the tri-state area but also hard to dispute
It ran from Saturday March 5th to Sunday March 6th
We attended the show on Sunday ourselves
This has been and continues to be a Vendor Centric show
It’s a great place to find collectibles from as far back as the 50’s and 60’s right up into the present
There was a limited slate of guests that consisted mostly of artists and cosplayers
There aren’t really any panels, signings or photo ops or anything you’d typically see from a guest panel at a convention
But there are tons of vendors and they are varied and unique
They did have a costume contest on Sunday but we didn’t stick around for it
The Expo is held at what has to be the coolest venue I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending, the Fuge in Warminster PA
It’s an old decommissioned centrifuge that was used during NASA’s early days and as a research and test facility for the airforce
The main hall of the Expo is housed in the circular centrifuge room that still has the massive boom and gondola which is just cool
Upstairs you can check out the cold-war era control room on your way to another exhibition hall
The place is dripping with history and just fun to experience
To say that people are desperate for a return to conventions would be an understatement
The Vendors I was able to interact with were far more engaging, far more polite and infinitely more appreciative of any business they got out of me
It was a completely different experience from what I’m used to, maybe that’s just the Philly attitude I’m used to
But I could swear even the people that were bumping into me in the crowded aisles look on apologetically rather than angrily with most folks excusing themselves
There was a ton of vendors, but there usually is.
It’s nice to see them packed in as efficiently as possible
There was plenty to choose from and to purchase
For the most part the prices were reasonable, though there were a few vendors who were clearly trying to exploit the current environment by jacking up prices.
One vendor was selling a vintage Return of the Jedi Nikto for $150
It was carded and probably a medium grade by the look of it and shouldn’t have demanded any more than the mid to upper $80’s
That was my first clue, looking at some of his other vintage Star Wars items it was immediately clear he was more than doubling his asking price for what the market is at, so I quickly moved on.
Another vendor had an opened but still in print Lego Star Destroyer that sells for $699 at retail brand new
He was “asking” $1,200 for it…but he would generously let it go for as low as $500 cash
I love vendors who think that by discounting their asking price by half or more makes them look generous
In reality it just means their insulting the informed buyer from the start
Needless to say, he didn’t get any money from me either
Aside from these few exceptions, everyone else I dealt with was very reasonable, willing to negotiate and gracious even for the chance to talk to an interested party.

[SEGMENT 4: Insightful Picks of the Week] (8-12 minutes)
Mark leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives. When a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it begins a journey to discover the truth about their jobs.
“Severance” takes as its starting point a unique solution to the work-life balance crisis, one offered by a veteran U.S. corporation called Lumon Industries. “What don’t they make?” asks one awestruck employee about this opaque organization.
Lumon has perfected a process that ensures employees never bring their work home with them, a surgical procedure that in effect turns a worker into two people: the “outtie” who turns up at the company daily at 9 A.M. and goes home at 5 P.M.; and their “innie” alter ego, who exists only in the workplace from 9 to 5 and has no concept of life outside the concrete complex where they work – no awareness of wars, politics, family tensions, social media.
For starters, the procedure that plants a device in your brain, separating your workplace and home-life memories, is irreversible. Then there’s the work environment on the “severed floor” (of course you have to descend, hellbound, to get there), which consists of a warren of never-ending white corridors and sterile office spaces a hospital would envy.
As for the work performed by the four members of the “macrodata refinement” department that the story is centered around, let’s just say that when someone calls it “mysterious and important,” they are half right. (One of the show’s great conceits is that no one actually understands what their work achieves.)
Of course, as with any workplace-set show, the dynamic between the four colleagues, plus their relations with their bosses, is integral to the success of the show, even one as lofty as this. And this is where it really scores, giving characters to care about, humanizing an inhumane concept.
‘Walking Dead’ walks on with ‘Isle of the Dead’ spinoff starring Maggie and Negan in Manhattan
The dead are still walking, this time in Manhattan.
AMC announced Monday that yet another spinoff of zombie apocalypse drama “The Walking Dead” will debut on the network and its streaming platform AMC+ in 2023.
“Isle of the Dead” will star Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as their original “Dead” characters Maggie and Negan, respectively, who leave the forests of Georgia behind for a zombie-infested Big Apple. The series will be produced by current “Dead” writer Eli Jorné.
It’ll be a six episode debut season, matching the episode count of The Walking Dead’s freshman year back in 2010.
In the new series, Maggie and Negan, once enemies, will travel to “a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland.
The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror,”
One exciting new detail can revamp the franchise. It came in the post-credits scene of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, possibly as a means to combat the fatigue which has set in for Dead fans over the years as zombies have been far less threatening.
It’s become human versus human conflict with zombies as a mild, tension-building backdrop. Now, it seems there are going to be much faster, more intense walkers. Should we call them “runners?” A scene presumably set in France saw a variant version of the undead which attacks much more aggressively, something which could take The Walking Dead back to one of its most exciting eras which saw characters learning how to adapt to not only the people in this post-apocalyptic world but the post-apocalyptic world in itself.
This new variant detail would factor well into The Walking Dead’s feature film promised to be on the way, where Andrew Lincoln is expected to reprise his role as Rick Grimes.
Since the announcement of a movie trilogy following Lincoln’s final TWD episode in 2018, there has been very little shared on that front other than they’re “still alive”. A Walking Dead movie with zombies that are now threatening like those in World War Z or 28 Days Later, giving the heroes a reason to fear them? Now, that’s an idea to fire up a fresh new endeavor right there.
This is the fifth spinoff in the “Dead” universe so far.
“Fear the Walking Dead” is now in its seventh season
Limited series “Walking Dead: The World Beyond” aired from 2020-21
Episodic anthology “Tales of the Walking Dead” is due this summer
An untitled series starring Norman Reedus as Darryl and Melissa McBride as Carol is also due in 2023.
A trio of films starring the series’ original protagonist Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is also expected.
The the final season of the original “Dead” is currently airing Sundays on AMC (9 EST/PST).
The future for The Walking Dead franchise is not going to be what it once was: a TV show which nabbed 17 million live viewers on more than one occasion.
This is in part because AMC+ subscribers get new episodes early which steals some live viewership but also audience simply is not as large through eleven seasons and some questionable creative choices along the mostly successful way. The future still may be quite bright and it’s definitely ambitious.
“What the f***?” So say The Walking Dead fans about Isle of the Dead, a spinoff following Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and nemesis Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to post-apocalyptic Manhattan. AMC Networks has greenlit the spinoff from TWD Universe chief content officer Scott Gimple and executive producer Eli Jorné (Season 10 of The Walking Dead), who will showrun the series set in a zombie-overrun New York City. Isle of the Dead is the fifth television spinoff of the flagship AMC zombie drama and is set to premiere in 2023, the same year Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride ride off on their own adventure in the untitled Daryl & Carol series.
“Isle of the Dead envisions the popular Maggie and Negan characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland,” reads the synopsis revealed by AMC. “The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.”
Negan widowed the then-pregnant Maggie when the then-Savior leader turned “vampire bat” Lucille on her husband, Glenn (Steven Yeun), in the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead. Nearly a decade later in-universe, Maggie and Negan are forced to work together to save a starving Alexandria in Season 11. Negan parted ways with Maggie and went into self-exile in “No Other Way,” but Negan will return with a new group in March 20 episode “Warlords.”
The six-episode first season of Isle of the Dead will take Maggie and Negan “to their limits with the world — and each other,” teased Gimple, who executive produces with Cohan and Morgan.
Jorné has “created a chaotic, beautiful, grimy madhouse of the dead for Negan, Maggie, and fans of the show eager to discover an unseen and insane world of the TWD Universe,” Gimple said via AMC. “Lauren and Jeffrey have always been fantastic collaborators and now, we bring that collaboration to the next level with a series that will take these characters to their limits with the world — and each other. All of us are thrilled to take you on an all new, all different TWD epic for the ages.”
“Did we forget how Negan brutally murdered Maggie’s husband with a bat?” one fan tweeted in response to the news. Reads another tweet reacting to the spinoff, “If this isn’t a Negan vs. Maggie plot, I’m not sure I will be able to buy into this.”
Love this!! I can’t wait to see what they have planned for these two. #twd #TWDFamily #TheWalkingDead
I’m all for the spin-off, but if Maggie & Negan kiss we’re gonna have a problem
Why would Maggie leave:
Her entire family (I swear if hershel doesn’t go)
to go to new York WITH NEGAN?
they gotta do some good ass explaining with this.
ur telling me maggie is going off to new york with negan… the man that MURDERED her husband and left her son fatherless
They could’ve given Maggie a spin off show of her own, or with literally any other character but they chose Negan??? I genuinely don’t see how this is going to work, ya’ll really going to put Maggie in a whole spin off show with that man… of all characters…
i’m not even THAT mad about the idea. i think it’s dumb & a huge disrespect to maggies character, but i am intrigued of what it entails & leads too. that being said, the fact that now maggie & negan are both CONFIRMED safe for the rest of the show is so disappointing

00:03:47:27 – 00:03:49:04
Let’s do it.
00:03:49:06 – 00:03:49:23
00:03:55:24 – 00:04:23:20
So there’s a possibility that we have a classic Star Wars novel being developed and adapted into a Disney Plus movie. So Disney may be greedy, they may be selfish, they may treat their cast members like dirt, they may treat their fans like sheep to be shared at an uncomfortable rate. But one thing Disney isn’t is stupid. Disney knows a goldmine when they see it.
00:04:24:09 – 00:04:55:20
Disney also knows when to fix mistakes they’ve made usually. Well, the jury’s still out on the Bob Chapek mistake they haven’t fixed yet. So rumors abound that Disney’s first Full-length feature film on Disney Plus might very well be there attempt to correct the ship and fix a major mistake they made with the Star Wars franchise. Now, we’ve talked about the genius of Timothy’s honor, at least I have, and his Thrawn trilogy many times on this podcast.
00:04:56:29 – 00:05:15:19
So it’s what should legitimately have been the proper sequel to the original Star Wars trilogy instead of that hot mess of disjointed jumble of plots and misused under-developed characters. In Episode 79. That was really my best attempt to write as many insults about the.
00:05:16:05 – 00:05:18:26
I could tell. I could definitely see that I.
00:05:18:26 – 00:05:19:10
00:05:19:10 – 00:05:19:25
There. Mm hmm.
00:05:20:17 – 00:05:47:06
It’s also the biggest crime against Star Wars that Disney perpetrated when it relegated the compelling story and dynamic characters to the realm of legends in one fell swoop by declaring all expand that universe content non-canon. Disney realized how much of a cash cow these novels, or at least the characters in them were. And I’ve been working that, working to correct their mistake.
00:05:48:05 – 00:06:14:08
The series of Frozen Books have come out under Disney. The not the same stories that presented in Zion’s original trilogy. Thrawn has also appeared in comics as well. As an animated series such as Rebels. When references to Thrawn based stories were dropped in the Mandalorian and Thrawn was actually being dropped in the Asoka episode. Hope Sprang a new that we’d see our favorite blue skinned villain on the silver screen.
00:06:15:16 – 00:06:59:12
Now let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Disney’s already decided to back off the over milking of the proverbial Star Wars castle theaters after they saturated the market with their peculiarly disconnect that set off unnecessary storylines. Solo, a star Star Wars movie which should have never been made, failed to wow the audiences and of course, going out of your way to cast someone in the iconic role of Han Solo, who have absolutely no resemblance to the original actor, didn’t help but squeezing years of expanding universe backstories into the beloved smuggler of the beloved smuggler in just a few days and trying to pass it off as genuine didn’t help either.
00:07:00:06 – 00:07:24:27
There was even criticism about Rogue One’s performance at the box office. I don’t know how greedy Disney is to label Rogue One a failure financially because it pulled in a 383 million or something like that. But the movie itself was brilliant and a refreshing return to the Star Wars. I knew from my youth Regardless, I would come on short of an animated series appearance.
00:07:24:27 – 00:07:59:25
You’ve never seen Vader so bad ass as you did in the hallway scene. Regardless of how successful the fans might or might not think these movies were. Disney decided to focus on the small screen rather than your Disney plus offerings, while they managed to struggle with the Mandalorian in the book of everyone but Boba. Well, the book above what kind of sucked up adult became Mandalorian Season 2.5 We’re eagerly awaiting and or Asoka and Obi-Wan, and I think the bartender for free films do next for his own spin off and I’m not sure.
00:08:00:20 – 00:08:23:24
Anyway, all these storylines, all of these storylines to roll out on Disney plus and there’s a real danger they might be milking this venue for more than they deserve at this point. Let me stop there just for a second and ask you, what do you think what do you think the direction of the Disney movies, Disney Plus series are what Star Wars is?
00:08:23:24 – 00:08:24:27
Don’t you think it’s too much?
00:08:25:06 – 00:08:54:16
I don’t know. I think it’s I think it’s filling the gap that it was trying to fill with the movies. And, you know, one of the things we’ve talked about before is, you know, Star Wars back in the day, you waited years between one movie and another. You know, and it really wasn’t until recently that there was something to look forward to year after year.
00:08:54:23 – 00:09:19:05
Same thing even with Marvel, you know, with Marvel. You kind of had that first movie, then there wasn’t anything. Then they kind of brought something else. And then now the fans have gotten to the point where they’re impatient really is what it comes down to. So you get to the point where you saturate the the market so much.
00:09:19:12 – 00:09:44:00
Now everybody kind of expects it. So then when you kind of back off, I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing because does your fan base just kind of move on and say, Well, you didn’t give me anything, so I didn’t. Yeah, I went and started watching something else. So maybe that’s what they’re trying to do by utilizing Disney Plus is.
00:09:44:00 – 00:10:11:13
All right. So we’re not going to put out a full length movie, but we’re going to give you this little spin off. And, you know, some of them we know it’s only going to be one season and you figure the one season is longer than any movie we would have put out. So we can kind of give you this little storyline and fill in this little blank and oh, hey, here’s another little story that you know of a character we kind of touched on once before.
00:10:11:18 – 00:10:40:27
We’ll give him a little story. So it would be nice to see because again, I only know Star Wars from what I’ve seen in the movies, I’m and I admit I am not the Star Wars fan that knows everything and anything. You know where you are, that uber fan because you read the novels, you read the comics, you know, pretty much all the characters and all the planets and know that there’s so much more story out there.
00:10:41:04 – 00:11:12:13
And there are fans that are like you, but there’s also fans like me who you have to make it somewhat appealing to to me as well. So I could see them doing these little things to kind of throw like, hey, you might not know this person’s story, but this person once ran into this person who you do know and maybe bring us along, you know, to, to to join in for the rest of the party.
00:11:12:18 – 00:11:29:18
Whereas everybody that’s the uber fan they’re like, Yeah, this is what I want to see. Because you’ve talked about Timothy’s on for as long as I’ve known, you know, or as long as the books have been around. I don’t know which came first, you know, me or me or him.
00:11:30:09 – 00:11:31:07
I’m saying before.
00:11:31:07 – 00:11:49:25
You. Okay, so that’s fine. So this is something, you know, you’re not alone in, in that, you know. And again, when Disney acquired Star Wars, and what. Oh, all this stuff, you thought you were going to get a movie or something about. Oh, sorry.
00:11:50:18 – 00:12:09:14
Well, and I think I think the problem that we have when we try to compare Disney to Marvel is even if you look at the movie, so when you look at the Marvel movies, you know, really the Marvel franchise, Marvel Cinematic Universe, started with, you know, they want to they want you to think it saw it with Hulk, but it really started with Iron Man.
00:12:10:04 – 00:12:27:04
But every movie that came out came out with the intent of getting to a larger story. So every movie that came out in the series contributed something to that, even though it kind of got muddied at some point.
00:12:27:05 – 00:12:27:14
00:12:27:29 – 00:12:49:15
When you look at the Star Wars movies themselves that Disney has put out, they establish so they basically wipe out everything in Disney history after Return of the Jedi. They put a new footnote or a new waypoint in the timeline here at 35 years after Jedi. But they fail to give you the backstory.
00:12:49:16 – 00:12:50:00
00:12:50:03 – 00:13:04:17
So then after the trilogy comes out, the sequel trilogy comes out. What movies do you get? You get Rogue One, which goes back to prior to New Hope. That adds absolutely nothing to that time period from Jedi to Force Awakens.
00:13:04:18 – 00:13:04:27
00:13:05:17 – 00:13:28:23
You get solo a Star Wars story, again, a completely standalone movie that added nothing to that environment. Right now you’re getting series. Now, I don’t know if the Marvel Series on Disney Plus are really going to work out because there were some, I don’t know, questionable storytelling that happened in the Disney Plus series that we’ve seen. But, you know, we’ll see how that works out in the movies.
00:13:29:22 – 00:13:43:18
I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt considering the success they’ve seen already. But with Star Wars, you’ve got the Mandalorian that’s going in that direction. So it’s five years after Jabba. Okay. So we’re starting down that path.
00:13:43:19 – 00:13:44:00
00:13:44:19 – 00:13:47:11
The book of everyone but Boba comes out the same time period.
00:13:47:12 – 00:13:47:22
00:13:48:17 – 00:13:55:21
You’re going to get an end or series, which clearly has to happen before and a new hope.
00:13:55:27 – 00:13:56:11
00:13:56:11 – 00:14:00:20
So you’re going back there, then you’re going to get it. And it’ll be one series that again, goes.
00:14:00:20 – 00:14:01:06
00:14:01:07 – 00:14:03:05
As to happened before and New.
00:14:03:05 – 00:14:03:29
00:14:04:27 – 00:14:07:03
Then you’re going to get Ahsoka.
00:14:07:04 – 00:14:08:14
Which happens after which.
00:14:08:14 – 00:14:12:00
We assume happens after we don’t know what time period it actually.
00:14:12:00 – 00:14:29:29
Happens. That’s true. So it could be. Well, no, because they’ve there have been rumors that Christian Hayden soon is going to be in do something as Hayden Christiansen that I said Christian Hayden. Oh, yes.
00:14:30:06 – 00:14:30:22
There’s going to be.
00:14:30:28 – 00:14:31:24
00:14:31:24 – 00:14:35:00
Expect a circle to be is what the first three episodes of.
00:14:35:11 – 00:14:36:02
00:14:36:02 – 00:14:41:02
It’s all going to be flashpoint, right? So you’re going to have a whole bunch of flashbacks to try to tell the end story there.
00:14:41:05 – 00:14:41:15
00:14:42:17 – 00:15:04:00
But again, you’re all over the place here. So we’ve got potentially two series that are coming out with well, you’ve got Mandalorian Book or Boba. I doubt they’re going to do much more with. And then you’ve got a Asoka that are trying to take that story. But why are you still going back and telling stories of stories of characters that we don’t need to know about?
00:15:04:03 – 00:15:05:02
00:15:05:11 – 00:15:32:27
And that’s the concern that I have. However, the rumors that we have now say that Disney Plus might be putting a movie together. It might be a collection of half truths, wishful thinking or Disney focus groups trying to fill out the fans. However, if they’re remotely accurate, the ME there’s a reason for from fans everywhere to get excited The current rumor mill suggests that Disney is taking a page from the Kevin Fergie playbook.
00:15:33:24 – 00:16:00:09
With all the irons in the fire, Disney may be moving all these disparate stories toward a unified conclusion in the form of this movie. That movie, if Giant Freaking Robot is to be believed, is based on Zorn’s novel. Heir to the Empire, the first in the Thrawn trilogy. It’s even a rumor that Lars Mikkelsen is the leading candidate to play the Blue Skin red eyed art aficionado himself.
00:16:00:26 – 00:16:20:14
Now, Mikkelsen also played throwing in the animated series, so that lends some credence to it. And just a side note, he also happens to be the brother of none other than Rogue One actor, Mads Mikkelsen, who played generic foes Father Galen ERSo. So there’s a lot of connections here. There’s some problems with the idea. And we talked about some of these already.
00:16:21:11 – 00:16:43:25
Not all of the series can be tied back to Thrawn and or obviously can’t Obi-Wan can’t Ahsoka obviously can, and the Mandalorian can’t. So you’re kind of dealing with half of the stuff that’s in the lineup right now contributing to this I’m not sure it’s enough story to bring together in an Avengers style, you know, finale in this movie.
00:16:44:29 – 00:17:04:03
But then again, the streaming, it’s a streaming platform, so it’s not the big screen. So the expectations aren’t as high, I guess. The other thing to note is that the end of rebels, the fate of Thrawn is technically unknown. They have this confrontation with Ezra and the space rebels and they go off into hyperspace and you don’t know what happens to them.
00:17:05:01 – 00:17:25:14
So we can assume from the appearance in Asoka that he exists because she mentions it. So that’s contemporary to the Mandalorian time frame. But his departure there kind of fits into the departure the way the novels work, because he was sent off on some secret mission by the Emperor, which explained why he wasn’t around when the Rebels won.
00:17:26:02 – 00:17:39:17
So there’s that disconnect that happens there that it kind of fits in well so I have to ask the question, and before I go into my spiel here, let me ask you this. Star Wars really need the model Avengers.
00:17:43:07 – 00:18:22:06
Well, it’s not like it’s a bad formula to to follow. I guess if you look at how well Marvel has done with the movies and the streaming shows and so but it’s different. And I think that kind of goes back to what I said before. Star Wars was always the once every five to ten year time frame. And now you have Marvel where there’s something every year, but it might not be related to each other.
00:18:23:02 – 00:19:09:26
You have the Iron Man, one wall between Iron Man, one and Iron Man two. What came out, you know, in between? So you kind of have all these pieces that eventually they flow together. You can go back and watch the timeline in the correct order. So it almost seems like that’s what Star Wars is trying to maybe make up now, but doing it on the streaming because they seem to have more success in the streaming area these days, then, you know, because obviously we know the last three, you know, trilogy movies did well on the box office.
00:19:09:26 – 00:19:12:14
They didn’t bomb. But with its.
00:19:12:14 – 00:19:13:14
Star Wars, you can’t.
00:19:13:19 – 00:19:34:04
Right. You know, you’re going to me, right? Exactly. You know you’re going to make money, but you had a lot of fans that kind of went, huh? And but then again, if you go back to, you know, the original idea and when you you know, look at what George Lucas has said time and time again, he was making the movies for kids.
00:19:34:04 – 00:19:49:27
They were in movies for adults. So as long as kids liked it, great. But the 40 year old kid, you know, who saw the first movies at ten, I still want right. That you know, so that I have a.
00:19:49:27 – 00:20:09:22
More sophisticated palate now. I’ve watched those when I was and I got a book, I’ve now evolved myself into someone who’s more discriminating in my taste, one a more sophisticated plot, certainly one better dialog than what George Lucas can write. I mean, that was atrocious, but I want something that’s a little bit more.
00:20:09:22 – 00:20:40:10
Complicated, right? So you kind of want Star Wars, you know, 3.0. Not even two point. Oh. Right. Right. You know, you want and I think that’s what they’re trying to do with the streaming stuff is to kind of give you that more I’m trying to think of the word. It’s not coming to me, you know, the not better quality, but that next step is a kid’s movie.
00:20:40:10 – 00:20:40:29
I guess they.
00:20:40:29 – 00:20:45:18
Take this approach for novels, so they have three different levels of novels. So you have this, right?
00:20:45:18 – 00:20:46:21
It’s true. True.
00:20:46:22 – 00:20:49:13
You have the young adult novels and then you have the big boy.
00:20:49:13 – 00:20:50:07
00:20:50:14 – 00:20:51:24
So they do that with the novel.
00:20:51:24 – 00:20:53:11
Big kid novels.
00:20:53:21 – 00:20:54:23
Big kid novels.
00:20:55:06 – 00:20:56:18
Girls read books to, you know.
00:20:57:20 – 00:21:17:21
Yes, I know. Just saying yes, I know. Let’s not turn this into a political debate. So they do it at the novel level. Right. And I could totally see doing that from a television series level. Mm. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to do that at the at the box office level.
00:21:17:24 – 00:21:18:08
Right. From your.
00:21:18:08 – 00:21:29:06
Movie level. Right from your movie level needs to be the big kids. It does, but it has to be the big kids that everyone can. Like you said, it’s not just for the.
00:21:29:06 – 00:21:53:11
Diehards, right? Everybody and you to make the right. It has to be the middle, the middle of the road where you get the young adults that want to see it. You get the parents that want to see it and you get the kids that are excited to go and see it and that you make enough collectibles from it that the kids want to play and the older kids that have the disposable income can buy the really expensive version of whatever toy.
00:21:53:11 – 00:21:55:01
It’s $600 later. I want.
00:21:55:03 – 00:22:01:24
Exactly. So that’s where you need it. But you can do all three flavors. Absolutely.
00:22:01:24 – 00:22:03:05
In TV on Disney.
00:22:03:05 – 00:22:25:05
Well, and that’s the thing that’s, you know, so great with Pixar movies, you know, not to bring another, you know, brand in, but, you know, Pixar for the longest time, you know, would put out a movie and there would be the jokes that the little kids wouldn’t get. But the it was we put that in there for mom and dad.
00:22:25:05 – 00:22:26:20
It was the movie took effect.
00:22:26:21 – 00:22:35:14
Right now, the kids watch the Muppets. The parents watch them with the kids. But you had those those high level jokes that were meant for the parents.
00:22:35:14 – 00:22:56:00
Right. The parents entertain. Right. And that’s what you need to do with the Star Wars stuff. Put some cute little sidekick in so that the kids are like, oh, that’s so cute. And then you have some, you know, storyline up top that isn’t going to make the kids feel uncomfortable. But the adults know. So what’s going on?
00:22:56:00 – 00:23:16:22
So to peel all of this back, I’m going to throw some speculation out there. But I think this is leading to and I think that is if they decided to go the route of doing air to the empire, I think this is their attempt to reinvigorate and reinvent it. This is their J.J. Abrams, Star Trek. This is the.
00:23:16:28 – 00:23:17:06
00:23:17:13 – 00:23:47:13
Relaunching the brand, relaunching the franchise. You’ll see, because the it obviously has to happen five years after or so after Return of the Jedi, which is exactly where heir to the empire happened. But it has to happen with a Luke Skywalker that’s in that ring, right. Princess Leia in a Han Solo. And I think what you’re going to see happen is that if Disney goes this route you’re not going to see any of the original actors reprising their roles.
00:23:47:21 – 00:24:02:22
If anything, you might see a Luke, a Mark Hamill coming in in a different role as a cameo appearance or something. Right. But Luke Skywalker is going to be played by someone else. He’s not going to be a digitally de-aged mark Wright.
00:24:02:22 – 00:24:09:26
And that’s where, you know, as fans, we got goosebumps. You know, when we saw.
00:24:10:09 – 00:24:14:12
That, did you get goosebumps for for Luke Skywalker or for Mark Hamill?
00:24:14:17 – 00:24:44:12
Both for me it was both. It was knowing that it was him and you know, he was there knowing that in this last season of Boba Fett slash Mandalorian, he wasn’t there, but he was there didn’t, you know, like it was still that chilling effect, but then finding out that he hadn’t been part of it. Right. It was kind of like.
00:24:44:20 – 00:24:45:16
Anything with him.
00:24:45:25 – 00:24:49:12
To him. Right. But it looked really good.
00:24:49:16 – 00:24:53:03
But my question to you is they’re never going to get well.
00:24:53:03 – 00:24:54:20
They can’t get Carrie Fisher.
00:24:54:21 – 00:24:58:14
They can’t get Carrie Fisher, and they’re never going to get Harrison Ford to come back to Star.
00:24:58:14 – 00:25:17:08
Right. And that’s the thing is because they would have to basically do what they did with Luke is go back through hours upon hours of dialog and pull out bits and pieces and put it together. So do you spend all that time and money doing that?
00:25:17:09 – 00:25:23:18
But you can one is expensive, too. You’re never going to you’re going to have to match your dialog to that, right?
00:25:23:24 – 00:25:35:08
That’s that’s what I’m saying, is that do you spend all that time and energy because, you know, that’s, you know, a five year process for three characters, right? Just a guess.
00:25:35:13 – 00:25:36:01
00:25:36:04 – 00:25:38:27
Says, find actors.
00:25:38:29 – 00:25:42:18
So my question is, do you replace the actors?
00:25:42:21 – 00:25:44:20
Yeah. Do you have or do.
00:25:44:28 – 00:25:50:04
Because Disney spent a king’s ransom on Star Wars, they’re not going to just let it die on the vine.
00:25:50:05 – 00:25:50:14
00:25:51:08 – 00:25:53:26
So they’re going to bring in other actors.
00:25:53:26 – 00:26:04:08
To play well. And that’s the thing is because you can I’m sure there’s somebody that looks close you know.
00:26:04:08 – 00:26:06:11
Certainly close and who they had. So.
00:26:06:16 – 00:26:15:11
Right. But that’s the whole thing is you don’t need them to be as old as how they were in Well, you know, that’s.
00:26:15:12 – 00:26:16:19
Concerned with age.
00:26:16:20 – 00:26:19:10
Like. But that’s not saying you at all. Right.
00:26:19:10 – 00:26:35:29
You saw in J.J. Abrams, Star Trek you couldn’t have found a better cast of actors that play. Well, they they didn’t come into play. The characters they came in to do impersonations of the original actors playing the characters and they pulled it off.
00:26:35:29 – 00:26:39:07
Yeah. And that’s the thing is becoming only probably hampered.
00:26:39:07 – 00:26:42:08
That is that’s incredibly limiting to the actors that you bring in.
00:26:42:08 – 00:26:42:20
00:26:42:21 – 00:26:48:14
I’m asking you to come in to not be a character. I’m asking you to come in to be an actor, being a character.
00:26:49:00 – 00:26:50:03
Yes and no.
00:26:50:03 – 00:26:53:24
And I don’t think Star Wars fans are going to accept anything less than that.
00:26:53:28 – 00:27:12:20
Hmm. But I could totally see you, you know, especially with, you know, and it doesn’t even have to be a well-known actor to come in and play the part. Heck, you can even get Billy Lord to come in and and do well, yeah, you.
00:27:12:20 – 00:27:14:27
Could certainly do that from a tribute standpoint.
00:27:14:27 – 00:27:37:15
Right. But she’s also been in a number of you know, she’s been in all of the other Star Wars. You know, the more recent Star Wars movies anyway. So to have her come back and do Princess Leia would, you know, I don’t know if it would work, but I’m sure there’s somebody else, you know, there that that looks like her.
00:27:37:23 – 00:28:06:00
You can certainly find, you know, an actor who, you know, has the the Mark Hamill look and, you know, and a Harrison Ford, you know, a younger Harrison Ford look. You know, as well. And maybe that’s where, you know, Disney starts looking for that group of actors. Now, to kind of, you know, mold them to get them ready.
00:28:06:00 – 00:28:07:08
I don’t know. I don’t know.
00:28:07:23 – 00:28:16:04
So let me throw I have we go let me throw this one up and we’ll take a look at this real quick.
00:28:16:05 – 00:28:16:16
00:28:16:25 – 00:28:26:28
For our our viewing audience at home, so that’s a side by side of Alden Ehrenreich and Harrison Ford.
00:28:28:06 – 00:28:36:10
Yeah, I could see him doing more of a of a Luke Skywalker. He has more of that. Yeah, he looks.
00:28:36:10 – 00:28:36:24
00:28:36:29 – 00:28:37:26
00:28:37:26 – 00:28:53:08
And then Han Solo but the problem that I think I had was less about is, look, I can accept the fact that you’re going to have a different actor because you kind of bring in him, right? Harrison Ford, he didn’t act like him. Right? He didn’t sound like him. He didn’t have the same mannerisms of him.
00:28:53:08 – 00:28:53:18
00:28:53:20 – 00:29:12:29
He didn’t have a similar voice to him. Nothing. There was literally you couldn’t have gone out of your way to find somebody more different than that Harrison Ford to play this this role. And it made no sense that you would have done that. So it was almost like Disney was deliberately trying to pull one over the the fans.
00:29:12:29 – 00:29:15:04
You know, that’s kind of what it felt like to me.
00:29:15:08 – 00:29:15:15
00:29:16:04 – 00:29:34:09
But anyway, that’s the only other fear that I have is that they’re going to come in and they’re they’re going to they’re going to screw it up, you know, that that they’re going to try and reinvent the franchise and screw it up. However, I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m excited at the prospect of heir to the empire becoming mainstream and legit.
00:29:35:28 – 00:29:55:22
Until that happens, though, it’s worth mentioning that there’s a passable effort underway by a private fan to put his this story into an animated format on YouTube. If you want to look it up. I watched chapter one that was all that was available at the time. And while it might be hard to get through the animation at times, the voice actor is actually really well done.
00:29:56:15 – 00:30:12:17
So look forward to it. Hopefully it’s more than just rumors, and hopefully it’s not Disney trying to really put on another ax. And the Star Wars franchise here so good talk, though. We’re going to take a quick break. We’re going to come back and we’re going to talk about.

Joe is just going to throw it back Ash.
00:31:32:03 – 00:32:02:23
Is waiting to catch something So are you a fan of The Walking Dead? Well, no. Well, you’re probably not alone at this point in the franchise history. The concept of a post-apocalyptic world crawling with the undead seems to have kind of run its course in popular culture. Yet the walking Dead franchise continues to march on though to an inevitable conclusion at the end of season 11 or so.
00:32:02:23 – 00:32:09:15
We thought so while it was announced already that Daryl and Carol were set to get their own spin off.
00:32:09:22 – 00:32:11:00
Sounds like a Bob Newhart special.
00:32:11:02 – 00:32:45:26
Sure does, doesn’t it? Now, we found out that Maggie and Negan voted the two least likely characters in TV history to have a spinoff show together are now getting one So with Daryl and Carol, you can see the chemistry and the stories that can happen between them, whether it’s a continuation of things after this final season of the flagship franchise, or even an attempt to go back and fill in some of the backstory of the time hops that continued continuing story of the pair works.
00:32:46:06 – 00:33:20:24
But Maggie and Negan, that is kind of hard to see how that is going to work. We’ve seen these two characters interacting this see in this final season, and it’s been kind of tough. There’s understandable it’s understandable that there’s tension between the two and some might even call it hatred. After all, Negan did go all bat man so horrible on Maggie’s husband killing him in season seven and something, you know, that kind of tends to hold a grudge over.
00:33:21:18 – 00:33:50:20
But their interactions in this final season, up until Negan decided to go on a walkabout seemed very forced and awkward. You know, there were a bunch of different fans that even said that while they love the two characters, putting them together and all these scenes just didn’t feel like it worked, like you would almost think that Maggie wouldn’t even want to talk to him, that she would just kind of turn away.
00:33:51:13 – 00:34:14:17
So there was a, you know, there was predictable drama and tension, but it was also very, you know, to form your magic. There was little left between them to explain how they could wind up going off on their own adventure. However, it is worth noting that the season isn’t over yet, and thankfully, Negan is expected to return soon before the end of the season.
00:34:15:15 – 00:34:58:23
So the premise of this new show titled Island Isle of the Dead, is that Negan and Maggie wind up in Manhattan, and it’s a Manhattan that’s been cut off from the mainland for some time. So from what’s been reported is that the island has a unique ecosystem of zombies and humans that we’ve not seen before. Now, it’s been hinted that scenes from the closing episode of The Walking Dead World Beyond in which we see a supercharged zombie similar to those found in the feature film World War Z, might be in play, in which case they might have to rebrand the franchise, the running dead.
00:34:59:05 – 00:35:22:25
But that just doesn’t have the same kind of ring to it. So the biggest challenge so what’s the biggest challenge with this whole concept is why? Why would Maggie team up with her husband’s murderer? Why would Negan trust Maggie if he is ready, if he already left, knowing that things weren’t likely to end well for him if he stayed?
00:35:23:11 – 00:35:56:03
Why would you go to Manhattan? Why would Maggie give up Hilltop, Alexandria, and presumably her young son, Hershel? Since there was no mention of him in the press release, and most importantly, why do we need another Walking Dead series So very little has been revealed as far as the plot is concerned. Aside from the two protagonists and the destination we learn very little about the world north of the hot and humid forests of Georgia.
00:35:56:24 – 00:36:20:00
There are large organizational elements that arise from both world beyond and Walking Dead that could contribute to the story but have not been mentioned thus far in the new series. We don’t know what forced Maggie or Negan to head north, though we kind of suspect that maybe something will be revealed by the end of season 11. Maybe Maggie is hunting Negan.
00:36:20:03 – 00:36:47:16
That could be an interesting plot twist. We can speculate on what the story’s going to be about, but it’s kind of wishful thinking. So all we do know right now is that the first season of this new show is going to be a limited season, kind of like what they actually did when Walking Dead first premiered. It’s only going to be six episodes, so there’s not much story that they’re going to really be able to tell.
00:36:47:29 – 00:37:21:28
So there is hope that we might see a return to a more frightening type of zombie rather than the mild annoyance they seem to have turned into. From a plot standpoint, it’s also possible this could be a set up for the promised trilogy of movies starring Andrew Lincoln that we were promised back in 2018 What is clear is that it’s going to take a serious amount of creative writing to make this pairing and destination seem kind of makes sense to the loyal viewers.
00:37:22:14 – 00:37:47:21
One thing that is funny that came out after the announcement came out was Jeffrey Dean Morgan actually said that. What? Hey, spoilers, I’m not going to die at the end of this season because I got a new one coming up story so he was even kind of shocked that they had made the announcement before Season 11 had even finished.
00:37:47:21 – 00:37:49:12
Right, because they’re usually very tight lipped.
00:37:49:12 – 00:38:17:17
Right. And that’s one of the things too, is that, you know, even with Talking Dead, the talk show that comes on after, they never even give out a spoiler, even while the episode is going on, you know, they might say, oh, we have a surprise guest and that usually means dies whoever died. But usually you never know. So now it’s like, okay, so here’s where we’re going to kind of find out if something happens to Maggie and Negan at the end.
00:38:18:01 – 00:38:29:17
Then we know now this goes back, but it doesn’t make sense because then you would think they would have been making references as well. Remember when we were in Manhattan together.
00:38:29:27 – 00:38:30:09
00:38:30:28 – 00:38:35:19
And they’re not they haven’t said anything about this. So we definitely know.
00:38:35:19 – 00:38:36:09
00:38:36:09 – 00:38:43:22
Scene, right? Exactly. We definitely know the show is going to happen, you know, in the future. It’s not there’s no.
00:38:43:22 – 00:38:47:21
Opportunity for them to have flashbacks because when Maggie shows up.
00:38:47:26 – 00:38:48:08
00:38:48:18 – 00:38:54:16
And sees Negan, it’s pretty obvious they haven’t seen each other since she he beat the hell out of.
00:38:54:17 – 00:38:59:05
Right. So it’s not like, oh, I haven’t seen you since we went to that little bistro. Right?
00:39:03:00 – 00:39:04:00
Below Central Music.
00:39:04:03 – 00:39:29:05
Right, exactly. So, you know, so supposedly this is slated, the Isle of the Dead is slated to premiere on AMC and AMC Plus in 20, 23. And just to give you the timeline of everything, so Fear The Walking Dead is actually still going on. They’re in their seventh season. Then you had that limited season for two seasons of Walking Dead World Beyond.
00:39:29:13 – 00:39:58:10
We’re also getting this summer a new series, which is an anthology called Tales of The Walking Dead, which comes out this summer. And it’s supposed to be new cast, but also some previous members. So, again, not sure the timeline of how that comes through. Then obviously we have the Daryl and Carol, which is also supposed to be right, which is supposed to be 20, 23.
00:39:58:16 – 00:40:24:04
And then obviously the three films which don’t have a date right now either. So it’s like kind of like Star Wars. Let’s just throw a whole lot of dead at you and it’s all over the place. Right? And is it something, where do we need to have this out there? Do we need another season of something, or is this also a cash cow?
00:40:24:05 – 00:40:27:17
This also comes on the heels of the origins.
00:40:27:25 – 00:40:28:20
Right? But they came.
00:40:28:20 – 00:40:32:01
Out with of the six characters that they’re talking about who are all getting their season.
00:40:32:02 – 00:40:48:15
Right. Who just happened to all be characters, right? Who just happened to all. And that was kind of funny, too, because that came out before. Like, we already knew about Daryl and Carol. Right. We we knew that was coming. But again, we haven’t really heard.
00:40:49:00 – 00:40:52:10
They should they should name that series. Daryl and Carol, look at the flowery.
00:40:54:17 – 00:41:01:24
But that’s one where we don’t know the timeline because there’s so many gaps where.
00:41:01:24 – 00:41:10:18
So many time hops in there that you their relationship from one time off to another has evolved tremendously when you see them interact again.
00:41:10:19 – 00:41:11:02
00:41:11:03 – 00:41:15:17
So their series could literally be backfilling some of that stuff.
00:41:15:22 – 00:41:16:06
00:41:16:08 – 00:41:24:27
Although when she goes off, you know, you know, Long Island Fisherman style and doesn’t come back for a while to have a serious atmosphere.
00:41:24:27 – 00:41:31:19
Right. I’m guessing maybe that, you know, they kind of go, you know what, throughout the years, we’ve always she kept coming.
00:41:31:19 – 00:41:33:10
Back in the port, blah blah, blah.
00:41:33:20 – 00:42:01:15
You know, like, why don’t we go off together? So then that kind of makes you also because knowing right now, if you’re currently watching season 11 of Walking Dead, you know that there’s been a time hop, right? So and Carol and Daryl are both living in the Commonwealth, working in the Commonwealth right now. So. Okay. Does something go south in the Commonwealth or are they still part of it?
00:42:01:15 – 00:42:29:21
And now they’re branching off? Is that where they’re going? And obviously we, we know from the one teaser things don’t go well for Maggie and the Commonwealth at Hilltop. So is that where she, you know, is trying to do whatever to get to New York and she runs into Negan and that’s how their little buddy show goes on.
00:42:29:24 – 00:42:35:15
It’s we’re we know we’re going to watch it, right? Well, we know you know.
00:42:35:15 – 00:42:39:01
They’ve already announced that that Negan shows up again with a new group.
00:42:39:05 – 00:42:39:26
00:42:39:26 – 00:42:40:23
The end of the season.
00:42:40:23 – 00:42:41:07
00:42:41:11 – 00:43:12:28
So I’m sure that’s going to play into it. What I’m curious to know is you have right now they’ve only established two mega groups out there between the civil authority and the commonwealth. And the civil authority is obviously out west somewhere, though they were featured there were mentioned in Walking Fear, The Walking Dead. They had World Beyond. Obviously, they were heavily featured there the commonwealth was the comic based bomb.
00:43:13:00 – 00:43:13:25
Mm hmm. Right.
00:43:14:01 – 00:43:35:03
And the comics wind up in the Commonwealth in another time, hobbling along. I’m curious of either of these mega groups. And it’s hard to believe that they wouldn’t have influence over New York because one of the destinations that they were trying to get to in world beyond was in the state of New York.
00:43:35:04 – 00:43:35:18
00:43:36:00 – 00:43:45:10
So there has to be some kind of interplay there. You can’t have organizations that large that don’t touch other other groups and.
00:43:45:10 – 00:43:45:17
00:43:45:20 – 00:43:46:06
00:43:46:06 – 00:43:47:00
Stuff like. Right.
00:43:47:11 – 00:44:02:14
So I’m curious how they’re going to interact and whether or not they’re going to they’re going to be surfacing in these other shows. Because, to be honest, the most compelling plots that we’ve seen recently have been around these large organizations.
00:44:02:15 – 00:44:02:26
00:44:03:09 – 00:44:22:07
I’ve kind of really grown tired of the interpersonal angst that goes on with with the individuals that are in here. Now, that’s the same plotlines over and over again. It seems the only thing that they’re breathing any life into these shows with are these large organizations or are they conspiracies or is there something deeper?
00:44:22:07 – 00:44:26:03
Darker is right. Right. What’s their end agenda? Exactly.
00:44:26:04 – 00:44:45:27
Like that’s really where the future of this whole thing has to go into the no pun intended, bring some life into it. But I hope that they do that. And it’s not just you know, more zombies in a couple of small communities on Manhattan. You know, that would just that would really be a killer.
00:44:46:03 – 00:44:49:19
Yeah, a killer. See, that was the theme.
00:44:49:19 – 00:44:49:24
00:44:49:25 – 00:45:02:15
You are. You are. So, yeah, it’ll be interesting to to see, you know, and then it kind of makes you wonder, you know, has it been too long now for these movies with Andrew Lincoln?
00:45:02:19 – 00:45:20:05
I don’t know how I can make them fit in, because if you read the comics, there’s a very finite ending for Andrew Lincoln’s character in the comics. And it’s it’s groundbreaking when it comes to the Commonwealth storyline.
00:45:20:06 – 00:45:20:19
00:45:20:28 – 00:45:31:03
So with him out of the picture, are they going to go that same route? And if they are, who’s the replacement for? The most likely replacement really is Daryl. Daryl stepped in.
00:45:31:06 – 00:45:34:28
Right. And kind of. But you can’t do that because there’s a show coming, right?
00:45:34:28 – 00:45:40:03
Because he’s got a show. So because that rolled right he winds up with the character being killed.
00:45:40:08 – 00:45:40:21
00:45:41:03 – 00:45:43:01
So I don’t know how they’re.
00:45:43:01 – 00:45:55:06
Going to and that’s the thing is I think if they wanted to do the movies, they shouldn’t have done any more series or. Right. I could see doing like World Beyond because that kind of.
00:45:56:02 – 00:45:59:27
Connected world beyond right. Fear The Walking Dead because they’re happening in a different area.
00:45:59:28 – 00:46:00:10
00:46:00:15 – 00:46:07:27
What I could see with the Andrew Lincoln movies is that he becomes he surfaces in the commonwealth. You can pick up his storyline from there.
00:46:07:28 – 00:46:08:11
00:46:08:27 – 00:46:18:00
And then ultimately you go the route that it has to go. But the last issue of the comic was centered around a character who’s already dead.
00:46:18:02 – 00:46:18:22
00:46:19:05 – 00:46:22:06
So you can’t you can’t do that. You have to come up with a new ending.
00:46:22:09 – 00:46:52:17
Yeah. Yeah. I don’t know. It’ll it’ll be interesting to see how they kind of pull it all together. And I think that’s what was nice with Fear. The Walking Dead was it was really kind of a standalone show, right? You know, while they did end up getting some characters from original Walking Dead, that that showed up you didn’t need to watch all of them to to make it all kind of write well and run together.
00:46:52:17 – 00:46:55:10
What they have now with Walking Dead really is.
00:46:56:21 – 00:46:59:11
Guided by the comics, right? There are.
00:46:59:11 – 00:47:03:08
Elements that are suggested by the comics, but it really is a completely independent.
00:47:03:08 – 00:47:25:28
Story. Right. And and that’s the thing is, in the beginning it was very right. You know, like every now and then, there was something that was a little different, but it was like, nope, this happened in the comic or, you know, the governor wasn’t as mean and nasty. He was actually charming versus in the comic. He was just a dirtbag to begin with, you know, so there were different things.
00:47:25:28 – 00:47:43:00
So, you know, when various things happened in the show, people that were fans of the comics weren’t surprised, you know, so and then it kind of went a certain way where they needed to change it up so that they could surprise everybody.
00:47:43:09 – 00:47:44:00
And, you know.
00:47:44:02 – 00:47:44:17
And they were.
00:47:44:18 – 00:47:47:00
Characters off. You’re going to surprise everybody.
00:47:47:01 – 00:47:47:12
00:47:47:25 – 00:47:49:03
So we’ll see where it goes.
00:47:49:08 – 00:47:49:12
00:47:50:01 – 00:47:54:20
We’re going to take another break. We’re going to come back with our convention recap. We’ll be right back.
00:48:02:11 – 00:48:21:01

Check out our video episodes on YouTube.com Backslash Insights into things Catch our audio versions on podcast insights into Teen XCOM or on the web at insights into things dot com kept guessing.
00:49:07:05 – 00:49:10:07
I didn’t know you didn’t know where I was going to go.
00:49:10:09 – 00:49:13:29
I was just kind of like a deer in headlights. I’m waiting.
00:49:14:09 – 00:49:27:06
So our convention recap. It is convention season two. We have a number of them lined up. We’ve gone to a couple already. A little couple little ones. The biggest one we’ve gone to has been Zo.
00:49:27:08 – 00:49:31:02
Luke got a milk that for all it’s worth.
00:49:31:02 – 00:49:32:25
Yeah, I’ll get to do it again the next year.
00:49:32:25 – 00:49:33:26
Yeah, next year now.
00:49:34:06 – 00:49:43:23
So we did go to Zillow.com. I’m going to talk about it real quick. We’re going to show some of the things that we did pick up while we were there and we do have a little video recap of that as well.
00:49:43:23 – 00:49:44:05
00:49:44:06 – 00:50:11:09
I’ll go over so Zillow.com with the sci fi fantasy expo we went to. It’s billed as the largest Comic-Con toy expo in Bucks County. Not exactly a appeal to the larger world, but hey, even the tri state area, it works. So ran from Saturday, March 5th to Sunday, March six. We attended the show on Sunday ourselves. We we tend to be a late, late show group.
00:50:12:01 – 00:50:13:14
Just in case there are some deals.
00:50:15:08 – 00:50:22:04
And that’s usually one of those we go we go on the last day of the show so we can get the deals because most of the vendors don’t want to carry the stuff home.
00:50:22:05 – 00:50:22:15
00:50:23:10 – 00:50:43:16
So the attraction has been and has been containing continues to be one of the vendor centric shows that are out there. It’s it’s a great place to find collectibles from as far back as the fifties and sixties, right up until the present time. Fact, they had one of the robots that a friend of our ours, Dan, was looking at for a friend of his.
00:50:43:16 – 00:50:45:06
It was from the 1960s.
00:50:45:07 – 00:50:45:22
00:50:45:29 – 00:50:47:27
That was that high priced ticket item.
00:50:47:27 – 00:50:50:05
Oh, okay. Gotcha. All right.
00:50:51:05 – 00:51:13:23
There was a limited slate of guest mostly consisted of artists, local artists and cosplayers really aren’t any panels. They do signings or photo ops or anything, but we didn’t expect that tons of vendors and they’re varied and unique from props to Legos to classic toys to new toys to everything that’s out there.
00:51:13:29 – 00:51:16:22
Some homemade stuff too. Yep. Yeah, the.
00:51:16:23 – 00:51:18:09
Craft stuff was going on.
00:51:18:09 – 00:51:19:11
There. Yeah. Yeah.
00:51:19:18 – 00:51:23:00
They did have a costume contest on Sunday, but we didn’t stick around for that.
00:51:23:00 – 00:51:23:10
00:51:24:00 – 00:51:25:21
What did you tell us about the venue?
00:51:25:25 – 00:51:59:01
So the venue, so the expo is held at what used to be what has to be the coolest venue that we have ever had the pleasure of attending. It is the Fugue in Warm Warminster, Pennsylvania. It’s an old decommissioned center fuge that was used during NASA’s early days and as a research and test facility for the Air Force, the main hall of the Expo is housed in a circular centrifuge room that still has the massive boom and gondola, which is just cool.
00:51:59:13 – 00:52:12:20
Upstairs, you can check out the Cold World, the Cold War era control room on your way to another exhibition hall. And the place is just dripping with history and just fun to experience.
00:52:13:15 – 00:52:35:22
So the experience itself, you know, to say that people are desperate for a return to conventions would be an understatement. The vendors that I was able to interact with were tended to be far more engaging than they normally are. They were infinitely more police, especially for a convention as close to Philadelphia. They were very appreciative for any business.
00:52:35:22 – 00:52:51:04
I even had guys that I was talking to, and it was just a general interest in what they were selling and, you know, their their business and stuff like that. And I didn’t buy anything and they weren’t pushy. They were still very polite. They were just happy to be engaging with people for.
00:52:51:05 – 00:52:51:18
00:52:51:18 – 00:52:52:10
Which was nice.
00:52:52:10 – 00:52:53:00
00:52:53:18 – 00:53:16:09
Even the people that I was bumping into in the crowd were far more apologetic than they were angry. Like they usually are out there. Yeah. It was it was nice, but tons of vendors, but they pack them in pretty efficiently. There was plenty of room in the aisles, usually don’t have a lot of elbow to elbow. Right. Situations, which was nice because we’re still still in a pandemic environment.
00:53:16:14 – 00:53:19:00
So it’s nice that you’re not, you know, rubbing up against people.
00:53:19:14 – 00:53:19:24
00:53:20:26 – 00:53:46:09
Prices were reasonable, though. There were a few vendors out there who were clearly trying to exploit the current environment. One particular vendor had a Return of the Jedi vintage return of the Jedi veto card cart at Niko that he was selling for $150 that was probably a medium grade by the look of it was not graded, but that’s kind of condition that it was in.
00:53:47:02 – 00:54:06:29
It would have demanded somewhere in the upper eighties. So the guy was really asking a lot. It was my first clue. So I looked at a few other vintage Star Wars items that he had there, and that’s really what I’m into now. If I can’t find something that’s Darth Vader, I try to find something that’s classic vintage 1982 to 83 style.
00:54:06:29 – 00:54:23:11
I don’t even want to go return of the Jedi too much. But that’s the era that I’m looking at. And he was basically doubling the asking price for all this stuff. I had another vendor there who had the Lego Star destroyed a big one. Big, big one. But the, the medium.
00:54:23:11 – 00:54:24:13
Size the medium size one.
00:54:24:25 – 00:54:44:15
And that’s still available retail for six 99 well the guy was asking 1200 dollars for but he would generously let it go for as low as 500. So you know vendors did think they’re cutting you a deal when he asks some ridiculous price and then they cut it in half or more to bring it down to something that’s reasonable.
00:54:45:00 – 00:54:46:14
They’re really people that are just looking for.
00:54:46:14 – 00:54:48:10
Soccer so that Right. Right.
00:54:48:23 – 00:55:02:18
A lot of the vendors thing happen they’re not all that bad but there are vendors to play that 70 30 rate. 70% of the people are going to go to these shows they know what they’re doing, right? 30% are just wild and they’re going to shell money off for anything that they think is unique.
00:55:03:20 – 00:55:04:02
00:55:04:05 – 00:55:22:10
And that’s really what this guy was going for. He was going for that 30%. But aside from a few exceptions, everyone else I dealt with was very reasonable. They’re all willing to negotiate. I’m one guy, the one guy I ordered, the one Darth Vader from, didn’t even want to negotiate. Like he’s like he had a listed price on there.
00:55:22:10 – 00:55:27:01
I asked him for a lesser price. You like? Yeah, sure. No problem. And wasn’t even a matter of haggling at that point.
00:55:27:02 – 00:55:27:25
00:55:30:01 – 00:55:32:08
Tell us about your experience. How how did you deal with it?
00:55:32:08 – 00:55:52:01
Yeah, for for the most part, the vendors that I dealt with were, you know, very personable. And what was funny was there was one person I kind of felt bad that I didn’t buy something from her because she was just so nice because we were talking about my my jersey that I was wearing. And she was like, oh, my God, that’s so awesome.
00:55:52:01 – 00:56:09:10
I said, Yeah, my husband’s wearing one, too. And, you know, I ordered them from them. And she was like, Oh, do you know the name of the company? So I was like, giving away the name of, you know, the, the vendor of who I bought my jersey from. And, you know, we were talking about Disney and, and various things with that.
00:56:09:10 – 00:56:26:01
So, you know, again, just happy to talk to somebody. And I even went back and she was selling some of the Darth Vader stuff that I was texting you about. I’m like Do you have this? You have this, do you want this? Because I felt I was like, I really want to buy something from her just because she was so nice.
00:56:26:08 – 00:56:48:15
And I ran into a couple of people that, you know, saw my outfit and we started commenting on on each other’s outfits. And then I think the one person that I talked to ended up seeing you a couple of minutes later, she goes, Oh, you must be married to that audience. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah. So again, just everybody was friendly, you know, nobody was really.
00:56:49:21 – 00:56:52:18
It was nice. It was refreshing. Yeah. Finally. And have kind of.
00:56:52:18 – 00:57:16:23
People, right. And the one vendor who I did end up buying from, I’ve bought from him over the years, he I think one of my first Doctor Who shirts actually came, you know, from him. And we have a bunch of different artwork from him, too. So it was nice to see him again. And I said, Oh, yeah, I happen, you know, he asked, Oh, do you follow me on Facebook on?
00:57:16:23 – 00:57:23:13
And I said, Yeah, I think I do because I saw that you were going to be here. So it was nice to run into him so.
00:57:23:13 – 00:57:31:13
So let’s highlight a couple of the things we’re sure. All right. Let’s start with yours there. Let me come over to that car shop there. So tell us what we have here.
00:57:31:14 – 00:58:08:17
So this is and I’m guessing it’s probably the same people that are there every at most of the conventions. Basically they sell customized Lego figures. They make their own. So they’re not, you know, real Legos. People but they always have a great variety of characters from, you know, horror movies. They do the the Disney ones they Marvel, DC Horror, Harry Potter, you name it.
00:58:08:17 – 00:58:39:03
There’s probably they even Stan Lee happens to be one so from another convention we had gone to, I have a little Stan Lee, so I have my little zombie Hawkeye we have Zombie Scarlet Witch, then we have Zombie Doctor Strange. Then we have the ghost from Scream and we have Beetlejuice. So kind of goes with my horror theme that I like.
00:58:40:03 – 00:58:44:11
I know we’ve gotten the The Gantlet, the.
00:58:44:11 – 00:58:44:24
00:58:44:28 – 00:58:46:15
The Infinity Gantlet.
00:58:46:28 – 00:58:48:27
So yeah, right down downstairs on my desk.
00:58:48:27 – 00:59:04:24
Yeah. So and $5 a piece. So you know, you can’t beat them because even you can’t get Lego figures for, for that much. And, you know, so under cue and they’re well-made, you know, they fit just like, you know, your regular little Lego pieces.
00:59:04:24 – 00:59:06:24
So what else you got there?
00:59:07:05 – 00:59:20:10
So this was one of the vendors he sold a lot of I don’t know, what would you like? Sixties art, potpourri type things.
00:59:20:12 – 00:59:21:17
So what’s this one we got?
00:59:21:17 – 00:59:44:26
So this is it was just kind of interesting because it was Frankenstein’s monster and the Bride of Frankenstein. And it was kind of in a fifties style biker, you know, because you always say that you want a motorcycle. And since our, you know, wedding anniversary is on Halloween kind of goes with our little, you know, theme of the two of us.
00:59:44:27 – 01:00:03:00
Okay. We are, you know, so I you know, if there’s ever anything of that, you know, I kind of get it because it’s kind of like us. Okay. And then the the artist that I was talking about, he does some cool comic artwork in Agent.
01:00:03:01 – 01:00:03:15
01:00:03:15 – 01:00:05:20
There. Yeah. So here’s Agent Carter.
01:00:05:20 – 01:00:11:14
And then I apologize to our listening audience. Most of the stuff we’re doing now is obviously visual.
01:00:11:14 – 01:00:32:03
Right? And then for our daughter, this was one of the dinosaurs. The the show that was on ABC, which now you can see on Disney Plus was one of the shows that we went back and started watching. So she’s a fan. So, you know, so some stuff from like nineties pop you know, pop culture.
01:00:32:03 – 01:00:36:05
And so it was an artwork grab for, for her.
01:00:36:07 – 01:00:37:03
01:00:37:03 – 01:00:40:02
So you want to grab a couple of mine there. We’ll take a look at those.
01:00:40:11 – 01:00:42:14
The big artwork.
01:00:43:11 – 01:00:47:06
So that was my what’s it all in tequila? I think it’s.
01:00:47:06 – 01:00:47:25
I think so.
01:00:47:25 – 01:00:56:15
So so it’s the portrait changing Vader to the battle damage Vader which was really cool. So that’s that guy was incredibly.
01:00:56:15 – 01:00:58:01
Yes. And this was one.
01:00:58:18 – 01:01:00:29
Piece of the guy so it was like I handed him 50.
01:01:01:08 – 01:01:14:10
Dollars. Right. And this guy this was one of the guys that I saw before you did it. And I was like, oh, my husband would love that. But he always says, I have no more room for artwork. And what did you do? You bought it. I was like.
01:01:14:10 – 01:01:15:12
Still to find a place for.
01:01:15:12 – 01:01:23:17
It, right? But I felt really good that you bought it because I knew you were going to like it. And, you know, you made the guy’s day, given him a sale.
01:01:23:19 – 01:01:29:15
And then this was a this actually was a new piece that came out that I saw that I went little research afterwards.
01:01:29:20 – 01:01:32:14
Oh, okay. Relatively rare, actually. Oh, okay.
01:01:32:22 – 01:01:39:29
So that was our key evil cave on the deck of Digable.
01:01:39:29 – 01:01:40:24
Yeah. Oh, okay.
01:01:41:00 – 01:01:44:05
So with Luke Vader and and.
01:01:44:14 – 01:01:45:01
01:01:45:10 – 01:01:45:27
01:01:46:02 – 01:01:46:23
So that was.
01:01:47:09 – 01:01:48:27
That was the French version of it.
01:01:48:27 – 01:01:50:04
Oh, that’s what that one was.
01:01:50:07 – 01:02:00:09
Yep. Yep. It’s Luke with an attitude like it. And this last one that we had was actually I have the magic wall with Darth Maul already over on the side here.
01:02:00:09 – 01:02:00:26
01:02:01:08 – 01:02:08:08
This was the standalone Darth Vader of the Hasbro Darth Vader from the action collection from the nineties.
01:02:08:09 – 01:02:08:24
01:02:09:08 – 01:02:25:23
Which I think I actually have the figure, but unbox okay. I want to get the box for this will actually pick it up a little I paid about five to eight bucks more than that. It probably I could have gotten it for. But, you know, it was one of those things that it was worth it you know? Right, right.
01:02:26:09 – 01:02:31:24
These guys needed the money. They need a little bit of a little bit of help with the pandemic and everything, so.
01:02:31:24 – 01:02:32:04
01:02:32:21 – 01:02:39:13
You know, I don’t have any problem you know, paying a little bit more to keep the conventions going, keep these vendors going and.
01:02:39:20 – 01:02:40:12
01:02:40:23 – 01:02:50:18
It’s really something that we enjoy doing so that was what we found there. What do we have for upcoming conventions? Tell us about that.
01:02:50:19 – 01:03:15:21
So the week the weekend of April eight through the tent at the Philadelphia Convention Center will be Fan Expo. Now, this is the company that took over Wizard World We have not been to a fan expo yet. I have a friend who did Fan Expo, I guess it was out in Denver, but I don’t know if they had ever done Wizard World.
01:03:15:21 – 01:03:36:10
So, you know, he had a good time, right? So it was kind of like I wanted his input, but I wasn’t really sure. Well, if you haven’t been to this, how does this compare? You know, but he had a good time. So, you know, we we didn’t buy tickets in advance. I think we’re going I know we kind of talked about I.
01:03:36:10 – 01:03:37:20
Think we have to go at this.
01:03:37:20 – 01:03:41:04
Point, right? So we have to we have to.
01:03:41:04 – 01:03:42:21
Get it off as a business expense.
01:03:42:21 – 01:04:13:06
Right. So Friday is from four to nine. Saturday is ten to seven and Sunday is ten to five. Single day tickets are if you buy them advance. I don’t know how what the time frame is. They were originally going for 37 in advance and 47 the day of I don’t know if they’re doing anything where you can buy the tickets, you know, if you have to buy them online.
01:04:13:06 – 01:04:35:04
Obviously a lot of the pandemic stuff has been lifted. Philadelphia doesn’t require masks anymore. They don’t require vaccination cards anymore. So I’m not sure yet, you know, because everything’s kind of changing. So that’s probably one of those things. If you’re in the area you’re thinking about going, you probably want to go to the website to to double check what’s going on.
01:04:35:14 – 01:04:36:27
And then we have some bad news actually.
01:04:36:27 – 01:05:12:24
Yeah. So one that we were actually kind of looking forward to to going again was a new group of conventions that we had just started going to, which is all part of the Jersey Shore Comic Book Show. That was where we had found out about Nerd Fast and went to that a couple of weeks ago. So we had just found out when we were putting together the show that The Mid-State Comic-Con, which was supposed to be held in Delaware, has actually now been canceled.
01:05:12:24 – 01:05:48:06
So that was supposed to be the same weekend as Fan Expo, but it only Saturday that unfortunately has been canceled. They don’t have a date as to rescheduling. So it’s just done. So that that was kind of, you know, a little upsetting again, seeing so many conventions starting to come back. Obviously, it’ll be nice to see I don’t think there’s been anything posted yet about the Greater Philadelphia Comic Con.
01:05:48:06 – 01:06:04:15
That was another favorite of ours. So hopefully, you know, once we see how Fan Expo goes, maybe, you know, some of the other ones will we’ll start coming back. We know, you know, a couple of the smaller ones. They’re the ones that have been coming back, right?
01:06:04:16 – 01:06:27:07
So so we’ll keep you posted, but I’m sure we’ll have a couple more for the next show. Yeah, but I think that was it for today.
