Black Santas are coming to Disney Parks for the first time

Disney parks in California and Florida have quietly included Black Santas throughout their theme parks for the first time in the company’s 66-year theme park history.
According to CNN, visitors and staff at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif., and the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., have spotted Black Santas at certain meet-and-greet events and at after-hours Christmas parties.
Santa Claus is represented in various ways in local and regional communities and around the world, which is what inspired Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World to reflect the diversity of its surrounding communities, according to a Disney spokesperson who spoke with CNN.
The company didn’t officially announce it would be including Black Santas in its Christmas celebrations this year.
The move by Disney made some fans emotional, with Victoria Wade, a theme park social media influencer who is Black, tweeting,
“Never in life did I think disney would actually put a black Santa in the parks.”
“With Disney implementing this change as part of their diversity and inclusion initiative, it really allows me to feel more comfortable and seen when I visit the parks.
Ultimately it makes me feel more accepted, welcome, and I’m thrilled at what this will do for children of all backgrounds when they visit Disney parks,” Wade told CNN.
Wade wasn’t the only one applauding Disney’s diversity efforts. Multiple users on Twitter also appreciated the presence of Black Santas.
“I’m pretty sure I just caught the very first Black Santa to ever be at Walt Disney World and I am seriously crying happy tears,” said user @maciiann.
Disney isn’t the first company to expand its diversity and inclusion efforts.
Cookie company Oreo also released a holiday commercial featuring a Black Santa Claus.
Clothing retailer Old Navy is also getting involved, with the company’s launch of Santa Boot Camp.
The program is designed to encourage diverse groups of people to play the iconic Christmas character.
Disney Created an Alternate “Cinderella Castle Suite” For Guests to Book

If you have ever wanted to stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite at Walt Disney World Resort, now, there is a way you can stay in the same level of luxury, detail, and magic!
Unfortunately, Guests are not able to book the Cinderella Castle Suite at Magic Kingdom, no matter how big their wallets are.
For those who do not know, there is a suite inside of Cinderella Castle that Walt originally intended to be used for his family.
Of course, we know Walt sadly did not live to see Magic Kingdom open, but eventually, the space was turned into a suite, as it was always intended for Year of a Million Dreams.
During this event, Guests were chosen to win a night in the jaw-dropping Cinderella Castle Suite and stay at Magic Kingdom overnight!
Now, the suite is typically used as a charity incentive prize or given out at random.
Because of the level of detail, such as fireworks going off in the fireplace, stars lighting up the Grecian God-looking bathtub, and more, Guests have always dreamed of staying here.
You can spend $12,000 to take a tour which will include seeing the suite.
However, staying in it, as we mentioned, is not an option — unless you are Katy Perry!
During the Destination D23’s Disney Wish segment, we got to learn more about the “Castle on the Sea,” which will be making her maiden voyage in summer 2022.
In this, Disney highlighted the Wish Tower Suite, which is themed to Moana.
It was said that this suite is like the Cinderella Castle Suite but on water.
To make a statement such as this is quite grand, considering the converted nature of the Cinderella Castle Suite, and paints the Wish Tower Suite to have a very high bar to meet.
But, if Disney is looking at the room as an equal to the Cinderella Castle Suite, it will undoubtedly be something to dream about!
The room will have Moana accents to it as well as two master bedrooms, a kids bedroom with built-in bunk beds, and a library that can be transformed into another bedroom if needed, as does the Cinderella Castle Suite, as well as access to a personal concierge team, and more.
According to the Disney Parks Blog announcement:
See the line where the sky meets the sea?
It’s calling Guests home to the Wish Tower Suite, a first-of-its-kind accommodation set high in the forward funnel of the Disney Wish, our newest ship setting sail in summer 2022!
This 1,966-square-foot penthouse in the sky will be our most unique Disney Cruise Line accommodation yet, and it’s the crown jewel of a truly jaw-dropping array of staterooms and suites aboard the Disney Wish.
Every storybook-inspired stateroom on this ship will be a luxurious, peaceful retreat designed with ample room for families, plenty of storage and upscale amenities.
But, if you want to experience this luxurious room, you will need to pay big for it. As we have revealed:
The price for this particular sailing is just over $21,000 for two adults. Pricing, of course, goes up with additional Guests in the suite.
The two-story Disney Princess suite is similarly priced, with a four-night July 2022 sailing running $27,789 for two adults.
The ship will be flooded with activities and areas to explore, just as amazing as the suite itself!
Captain Minnie and Mickey Mouse will greet you.
On top of that, Guests can team up with Moana to navigate their canoes beyond the reef, helping Tiana cook up the perfect pot of her father’s favorite gumbo, summoning Tinker Bell to give the Disney Wish an extra dash of pixie dust and diving into the East Australian Current (EAC) with Nemo and friends.

The Character of Sabine Wren has been cast for ‘Star Wars: Ahsoka’
https://deadline.com/2021/11/star-wars-ahsoka-natasha-liu-bordizzo-sabine-wren-disney-plus-rosario-dawson-1234877527/
https://bit.ly/3pk1s20
Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been cast as a lead opposite Rosario Dawson in the Disney+ series Star Wars: Ahsoka, a spinoff from the streamer’s hit series The Mandalorian.
Bordizzo will be taking on the character of Sabine Wren from the Star Wars Rebels animated series.
Dawson stars as Ahsoka Tano in the series after making the character’s live-action debut in The Mandalorian.
The offshoot, executive produced by Filoni and Jon Favreau, will continue Ahsoka’s story.
No additional information about the new series has been released by Lucasfilm, but there has been a lot of online speculation that key characters from Rebels such as Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger would join Ahsoka in the new show.
That is because, prior to dropping in on The Mandalorian to assess the Child, Ahsoka was last seen in the series finale of Rebels, where she and Wren set out to find Bridger, who had been whisked away by the Purrgil.
Sabine Wren, who was voiced on Rebels by Tiya Sircar, is a young Mandalorian warrior and graffiti artist, Imperial Academy dropout and a former bounty hunter with expert knowledge of weapons and explosives.
Ahsoha, which is eyeing a March production start date also is expected to feature an appearance by Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, who would reunite with his Jedi Padawan, Ahsoka, likely in flashbacks as the series is set five years after Return of the Jedi.
Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett TV Spot Reveals Lots of New Footage
https://comicbook.com/starwars/news/star-wars-the-book-of-boba-fett-tv-spot-new-footage/
https://bit.ly/3rxeY5b
Disney and Lucasfilm recently released a new television spot for The Book of Boba Fett, offering the first look at new footage from the upcoming Disney+ series.
Its release follows the first official trailer and a previous promotional video for the show, which spins out of The Mandalorian’s second season.
The book of Boba Fett stars Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand as they attempt to fill the power vacuum in the Star Wars galaxy’s underworld left by the death of Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi.
According to the show’s synopsis, The Book of Boba Fett “finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.”
In an interview from June Wen explains how The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett differ.
“Probably there will be some similarities,” Wen teased.
“Tonally, you know, Mando is very much a loner except for his relationship with Grogu, so just the dynamic that there’s now a team between Boba and Fennec.
I think that already creates a different quality for the show.
Yeah, that’s about all I can say.”
Robert Rodriguez directed Boba Fett’s return in “Chapter 14: The Tragedy” of The Mandalorian. He’s teased that The Book of Boba Fett will feature even more epic action with the iconic bounty hunter.
In a recent interview Rodriguez says “I’ve got so much to tell you about that, but I’m out of time,”
“Yeah, I can’t say anything about that, sworn to silence.
I can say I’m working on it and I can tell you it’s gonna blow your mind.
You saw him arrive in my episode of The Mandalorian, that was nothing.
I can talk it up all I want because I know it’s gonna deliver, I know it’s gonna over-deliver.”
The Book of Boba Fett is one of several Star Wars shows headed to Disney+.
The Mandalorian is filming its third season.
Ahsoka will begin filming soon.
Obi-Wan Kenobi wrapped filming in September.

‘You really did change my life’: Adele cries during surprise reunion with teacher
https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/22/entertainment/adele-surprise-reunion-teacher-intl-scli-gbr/index.html
https://cnn.it/3Ej1oWr
Adele is known for moving fans to tears with her music, but the Grammy award-winning singer shed some of her own after a surprise reunion with a former high school teacher.
The emotional moment happened during the British powerhouse’s ITV concert special, “An Audience with Adele,” which aired in the UK the other week.
During the pre-recorded concert, the pop superstar took a question from Hollywood actress Emma Thompson, who asked whether there was anyone in her past who had supported her, inspired her or protected her from life’s trials and tribulations.
In response, Adele opened up about the impact Ms. McDonald, her English teacher at Chestnut Grove Academy, had had on her.
The London-born singer shared:
“I had a teacher at (south London high school) Chestnut Grove, who taught me English.
That was Miss McDonald… She got me really into English literature.
Like, I’ve always been obsessed with English and obviously now I write lyrics.”
“She was so bloody cool. So engaging,” Adele added, recalling that McDonald often wore sequins and gold bracelets.
“She really made us care, and we knew that she cared about us.”
Thompson then revealed that McDonald, whom Adele hadn’t seen in 20 years, was in the audience.
It was time for the singer, who is used to surprising fans at her concerts, to be left stunned.
In the clip shared on ITV’s Twitter account from the highly anticipated televised UK concert special, Adele embraced her former mentor after she was brought on stage.
“I’m so proud of you,” McDonald said as Adele cried tears of joy.
During their exchange, the “Easy On Me” hitmaker told McDonald: “You really did change my life.”
“Now, I’ve got to get my whole face re-done,” the 33-year-old star joked while wiping away tears.
She then called on host Alan Carr to step in and entertain the audience with a song while she stepped away to regain her composure
After the special aired, Adele took to Twitter to share her excitement at the reunion.
“Home Sweet Home. I’ve always dreamt of doing An Audience With…” she wrote alongside a series of pictures from the TV special, adding:
“There was so much love in the room for each other, it felt like such a gig!
And my teacher Ms McDonald was there, it was just heaven.”
“An Audience With Adele” was filmed at the London Palladium earlier this month in front of a star-studded audience which included the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Jodie Comer and Idris Elba.
The broadcast comes a week behind a similar US TV special, “Adele One Night Only,” which included an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey.
She is currently promoting her new album, “30,” which is her fourth studio album and the first to be released since 2015.
The project, which focuses on Adele’s healing process following her divorce from Simon Konecki, has garnered widespread acclaim from music critics.
‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Shades Kid Rock’s ‘Parody Video’ With A Blunt Clarification
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/weird-al-yankovic-kid-rock_n_619c4f9be4b0451e54fe362b
https://bit.ly/3rGTFyb
“Weird Al” Yankovic wants everyone to know he had nothing to do with Kid Rock’s latest ranty video.
Yankovic tweeted:
To everybody that’s congratulating me right now on my new Kid Rock parody video, let me clarify – that’s not me. That’s actually Kid Rock.
Kid Rock’s new song and video, “Don’t Tell Me How to Live,” is an attack on “snowflakes.”
But the extensive list of complaints makes Kid Rock look like a snowflake himself as he rages against “millennials.”
“Talkin’ all that BS!” he whines into the camera near the start of the song.
He also flies around straddling a giant finger while firing a gun in a song and video that so closely resembles a parody that many commenters mockingly congratulated Yankovic.
“You nailed it, Weird Al!” wrote one.
“Finally a new weird Al video!” wrote another.
Yankovic’s response on Twitter had fans in stitches:
Weird Al just eviscerated Kid Rock, like a surgeon.
Weird Al is slamming Kid Rock harder than the @TheRock slamming @VinceMcMahon
That’s it. Nothing will be funnier than this. The Kid Rock discourse has peaked. Weird Al, you absolute legend!
Oh my god I just watched it and it really is like a Weird Al parody of a Kid Rock song. He talks about offended millennials even though that means “adults under 40” now! The guy who says “ain’t nobody gonna tell me how to live” looks like Zach Galifianakis doing a bit!
Weird Al never misses. 🐐
Tweet of the year candidate.
Al, please accept this internet. You won it fair and square.
Your crown is ready, sir. 👑

The Beatles – Get Back
https://www.disneyplus.com/series/the-beatles-get-back/7DcWEeWVqrkE
https://bit.ly/3lud5SX
Disney+
The Beatles: Get Back is a 2021 documentary series directed and produced by Peter Jackson. It covers the making of the Beatles’ 1970 album Let It Be, which had the working title of Get Back, and draws from material originally captured for Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s 1970 documentary of the album. Originally conceived as a feature film, The Beatles: Get Back consists of three episodes with runtimes between two and three hours each, resulting in a total runtime of nearly eight hours of material. The series is presented by Walt Disney Studios in association with Apple Corps and WingNut Films.[2]
Jackson characterised The Beatles: Get Back as “a documentary about a documentary”. Commentators have described it as challenging longtime beliefs that the making of Let It Be was marked entirely by tensions between the Beatles, showing a more upbeat side of the production. It premiered on Disney+ consecutively on 25, 26 and 27 November 2021. The miniseries was widely acclaimed by critics, who highlighted the historical merit of the footage and its showing of the inner workings of the band, although some deemed its runtime to be excessive.
In January 1969, the Beatles convened in London to record a new album and documentary film. A camera crew captured the quartet as they listlessly learned new songs and squabbled with each other. While some of that footage was turned into the drab 1970 film Let It Be, nearly 60 hours of video and 150 hours of audio recordings were shelved and never revisited.
A few years ago, The Lord of the Rings filmmaker Peter Jackson, a Beatles fanatic, asked the band’s company Apple Corps for permission to revisit the footage. He hoped to build a truer portrayal of the band’s last days—that captured not only their confrontations but also the kinetic joy and breathtaking creativity that emanated out of those sessions. Here’s what Jackson’s 7-plus-hour edit of the tapes show us about the Beatles’ last year and why they split apart.
For most of the Beatles’ early years, guitarist George Harrison barely wrote any songs; their music was fueled by the seemingly inexhaustible creative well of Lennon-McCartney songcraft. But as the ’60s wore on and Harrison found his creative voice, he became more and more resentful of how John Lennon and Paul McCartney would dismiss his work or boss him around. Harrison had just spent some time with The Band in upstate New York and was inspired by their differing vision of collaboration, in which musical equals created together, each on their own terms. He even brought a new song to the “Get Back” sessions, called “All Things Must Pass,” that he described as “Band-y.”
But the Beatles barely returned to the song after learning it, and belittled his other contributions to the sessions, including “I Me Mine.” Meanwhile, Paul McCartney gave Harrison extensive guitar direction in a way Harrison felt to be overbearing and pushy. He lashed back at both of them, calling the Lennon-penned “Don’t Let Me Down” “awful.” “If we had a tape recorder, you’d throw that out straight away,” he told Lennon.
One day, as McCartney and Lennon worked through an arrangement of the fittingly-named “Two of Us,” Harrison stormed out, saying off-handedly, “I think I’ll be leaving the band now… Get a replacement.”
After several meetings of cajoling, the other three Beatles eventually convinced him to return. But as the sessions came to a close, Harrison once again expressed his desire to break off from the band and to record all of his compositions separately. “It would be nice if any of us could do separate things as well. That way, it also preserves the Beatle bit of it more,” he says to an encouraging Lennon. “I’m just gonna do me for a bit.”

Star Trek Discover: Seasons 1 through 3
https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/star-trek-discovery/
https://bit.ly/3Emrloe
Paramount+
The series begins roughly ten years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series, as Commander Michael Burnham’s recklessness starts a war between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire.
She is court-martialed, demoted, and sentenced to prison but through a series of unusual events winds up assigned to the starship Discovery,
Discovery has a unique, secret means of propulsion known as the “Spore Drive”.
After an adventure in the Mirror Universe, the crew of Discovery helps end the Klingon war and Burnham is restored to the rank of Commander.
In the second season, the Discovery crew investigates seven mysterious signals and a strange figure known as the “Red Angel”, and fights off a rogue artificial intelligence.
In the third season, Burnham and the crew of the Discovery find the Federation fragmented, and investigate the cause of a cataclysmic event known as the “Burn”.
The first season was interesting for a number of reasons
It was loaded with action from the first episode through the whole season and kept you on the edge of your seat, not your typical Star Trek experience when it comes to series television
There was very well placed leads that pointed to a major plot twist later in the season that was very well done
You got to see a side of the Klingons that you never saw before. A race that had been thoroughly covered in other series of the franchise.
You get a guest appearance by a famous ship and a famous though little seen captain in the franchise history which makes for a very interesting tie in to the original series on multiple occasions.
Creatively in the first season was brilliant
Filmed in the very familiar lens flare filled style of a JJ Abrams movie the entire season had a theatrical flare you don’t normally see in series television
The concept of following a lesser array of offers rather than the swashbuckling or genius diplomat senior officers was a refreshing take on the franchise that demonstrates there is more to Star Trek than just the captains.
Character development was a little slow and somewhat forced, but by season three there is a familiarity and emotional investment in most of the characters despite the repetitive character flaws that act as plot points
The second season was a little bit slower and sloppier as if they had the ultimate end point in mind and kind of muddled their way along to get there, it lacked the same polish as season one but was still enjoyable.
The cavalcade of characters marching in and out of the story line helps to keep the dialogue and plot fresh from episode to episode rather than the same fixed group for every show
Season three looks promising, but again it’s one that seems to have a fixed end point they are trying to reach in the same meandering way as season two rather than the strategically planned out progression of season one with all the hooks laid out throughout the season
Season four is releasing now and despite the fact that I’m not done with Season three I know I’ll be promptly moving on to four when I’m ready and I’m looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

00:01:51:03 – 00:01:58:19
Joseph
Um oh. Also, we’ll be recording the Christmas special this weekend, hopefully, so that should be out in time for the holiday.
00:01:58:22 – 00:01:59:14
Michelle
Mhm. Yep.
00:01:59:22 – 00:02:18:07
Joseph
Before we do get into it, though, I did have one programing note. I dropped it on our insights into teens. I wanted to mention it here as well. When we are broadcasting, whether it’s live now, during the week, in the evenings or during the week, we do rebroadcast of our podcasts.
00:02:19:18 – 00:02:35:06
Joseph
We do it through a reflector service called Re Stream that I know. And what that allows us to do is stream out to. I think right now we’re doing five different stream providers out there. They all provide their own chat service.
00:02:35:22 – 00:02:53:18
Joseph
Unfortunately, I don’t have the ability to monitor all of those chat services. So as a result, there are people who do attempt to interact with us while we’re broadcasting that I don’t always see because I generally just monitor monitor the Twitch chat stream.
00:02:54:24 – 00:03:09:18
Joseph
So first of all, I wanted to apologize for anybody who was trying to interact with us, but couldn’t, because I don’t monitor five channel streams at once. However, after the first of the year, we probably will be putting our own Discord server in place.
00:03:09:18 – 00:03:23:12
Joseph
That will allow us to have one centralized location that we can monitor all of our show chats and stuff like that and let people interact with us. And it’s just another another method that folks can interact with us.
00:03:23:12 – 00:03:39:19
Joseph
So I hope to have that in probably the first couple of weeks of January, and we can avoid this problem in the future. But anyway, my apologies. If you feel that we’ve been neglecting you through some of the chat chats on the.
00:03:39:19 – 00:03:39:29
Michelle
Show, it.
00:03:39:29 – 00:03:41:13
Michelle
Obviously wasn’t on purpose.
00:03:41:19 – 00:04:05:24
Joseph
No, it was not. So today in our Disney detective, for the first time ever, black Santas are appearing at Disney Parks, plus an alternate Cinderella Castle suite that guests can actually book. Then in our tales from the Edge of the Galaxy, a live action Sabine Wren has been cast for Star Wars Asoka, and a recent book of
00:04:05:25 – 00:04:31:02
Joseph
Boba TV special reveals new footage of the much anticipated show. And for our entertainment news, Adele gets an emotional surprise during her UK TV special and weird hour is distancing himself from a new Kid Rock parody style VIDEO And then we’ll always we’ll obviously finish up with our insightful picks and some afterthoughts ready to get into it
00:04:31:05 – 00:04:31:21
Michelle
. Sure.
00:04:32:04 – 00:04:42:11
Joseph
All right, let’s get going. Go for Disney Detective.
00:04:42:18 – 00:05:08:06
Michelle
So Disney parks in California and Florida have quietly included black Santas throughout their theme parks for the first time in the company’s 66 year theme park history, according to CNN. Visitors and staff at Disneyland Resorts in Anaheim and the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, have spotted black Santas at certain meet and greet events
00:05:08:06 – 00:05:32:12
Michelle
and at after our Christmas parties. Santa Claus is represented in various ways in local and regional communities around the world, which is what inspired Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World to reflect the diversity of its surrounding communities. According to a Disney spokesperson who spoke with CNN, the company didn’t officially announce it would be including black centers and
00:05:32:12 – 00:05:55:10
Michelle
its Christmas celebrations this year. The move by Disney made some fans emotional with Victoria Wade, who is a theme park social media influencer who happens to be black, tweeting, Never in my life did I think Disney would actually put a Black Santa in the parks, with Disney implementing this change as part of their Diversity and Inclusion Initiative
00:05:55:18 – 00:06:11:14
Michelle
. It really allows me to feel more comfortable and seen when I visit the parks. Ultimately, it makes me feel more accepted, welcome, and I’m thrilled at what this will do for children of all backgrounds when they visit Disney parks.
00:06:11:28 – 00:06:31:15
Michelle
Wade wasn’t the only one applauding applauding Disney’s diversity efforts. Multiple users on Twitter also appreciated the presence of black Santas. one said I’m pretty sure I caught my very first black eye, caught the very first Black Santa to ever be at Walt Disney World and I’m seriously crying.
00:06:31:15 – 00:06:57:06
Michelle
Happy tears now. Disney isn’t the first company to expand its diversity and inclusion efforts. Cookie company Oreo released a holiday commercial featuring a Black Santa and clothing retailer. Old Navy is getting involved with the company’s launch of Santa’s Boot Camp, which is a program designated to encourage diverse groups of people to play the iconic Christmas character.
00:06:57:25 – 00:07:04:28
Joseph
You know, it seems almost strange that it took Disney this long to do, given their other diversity movements that they’ve had, right?
00:07:04:28 – 00:07:31:10
Michelle
And they’ve always been. I know in Epcot because of all the different countries you know that they have represented there. I know they’ve always had holiday themes based off of those different countries. So, you know, different types of Santas or Santas dressed in different outfits and, you know, and the thing with it.
00:07:31:15 – 00:07:45:04
Michelle
But yeah, it is kind of surprising when you think about all these other places that have been doing it already and that Disney was finally like, You know what, maybe we should do this too.
00:07:45:16 – 00:07:51:27
Joseph
It’s nice to see that they’re being more inclusive. It’s surprising that it took this long.
00:07:51:27 – 00:07:52:22
Michelle
Right, right.
00:07:53:00 – 00:07:54:19
Joseph
But for Disney for that?
00:07:54:20 – 00:07:55:14
Michelle
Absolutely.
00:07:55:28 – 00:08:00:17
Joseph
Good for Disney, for making another dream come true. To tell us about that one.
00:08:01:11 – 00:08:18:14
Michelle
one that we will never get to experience. So if you have ever wanted to stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite at Walt Disney World Resort now, there’s kind of a way that you can stay in the same level of luxury detail and magic.
00:08:18:15 – 00:08:35:26
Michelle
But unfortunately, guests are not able to book the Cinderella Castle Suite at the Magic Kingdom, no matter how big your wallet is. So for those of you that don’t know, there is a special suite inside of Cinderella’s Castle that Walt had originally intended to be used for his family.
00:08:36:12 – 00:08:51:02
Michelle
Of course, we all know that Walt sadly did not live to see the Magic Kingdom open, but eventually the space was turned into a suite as it was always intended for the year of 1,000,000 dreams promotion that they had a couple of years ago.
00:08:51:11 – 00:09:14:01
Michelle
So during this event, guests were chosen to win a knight in the jaw dropping Cinderella Castle Suite and stay at Magic Kingdom overnight. Now, the Swede is typically used as a charity incentive prize are given out at random and because of the level of detail such as fireworks going through the fireplace, stars lighting up the Grecian God
00:09:14:01 – 00:09:31:20
Michelle
looking tub and more. Guests have always dreamed of staying there. But you can actually spend $12,000 to take a tour, which will include seeing the suite. However, staying in it, as we’ve mentioned, is not an option unless you’re somebody like Katy Perry.
00:09:32:06 – 00:09:57:15
Michelle
But during last week’s destination D23. Presentation that they did during the Disney Wish segment, we got to learn more about the Castle on the Sea, which will be making her maiden voyage in summer 2022. In this, Disney highlighted the Wish Tower suite, which is themed to Moana.
00:09:57:23 – 00:10:14:14
Michelle
It was said that the suite is like the Cinderella Castle Suite, but on water. And to make a statement such as this is quite grand considering the converted nature of the Cinderella Castle Suite and paints the Wish Tower to have the very high bar to be met.
00:10:15:09 – 00:10:37:08
Michelle
But if Disney is looking at the room as an equal to the Cinderella Castle Suite, it will undoubtedly be something to dream about. The room will have Moana accents to it, as well as two master bedrooms, a kid’s bedroom with built in bunk beds and a library that can be transformed into another bedroom if needed, as does
00:10:37:08 – 00:10:54:26
Michelle
the Cinderella Castle Suite, as well as access to a personal concierge team and more. Now, according to the Disney Parks Blog announcement, they said See the see the line where the sea meets, where the sky meets the sea tongue twister right there.
00:10:55:06 – 00:11:21:11
Michelle
It’s calling guests home to the Wish Tower suite, a first of its kind accommodation set high in the forward funnel of the Disney Wish. Our newest ship, which is sailing summer of 2022. This 1966 square foot penthouse in the sky will be our most unique Disney cruise line accommodation yet, and it’s the crown jewel of a truly
00:11:21:14 – 00:11:45:19
Michelle
jaw dropping array of state rooms and suites aboard the Disney Wish. Every storybook inspired stateroom on this ship will be a luxurious, peaceful retreat designed with ample rooms for families, plenty of storage and upscaled amenities. So if you want to experience this, you’re gonna have to pay.
00:11:46:11 – 00:12:13:03
Michelle
What we found out was that the price for this particular sailing is just over $21,000 for two adults. Pricing, of course, goes up with additional guests, and the two story Disney Princess Suite is similarly priced for a four night stay in July, running at almost $28,000 for two adults.
00:12:14:24 – 00:12:16:14
Michelle
So we’re not doing.
00:12:17:14 – 00:12:27:24
Joseph
Like someone has to kind of explain to me why Disney seems to have this move of these ultra expensive stays. So you first you have the galactic star.
00:12:27:29 – 00:12:28:10
Michelle
Right.
00:12:29:01 – 00:12:32:06
Joseph
Now you have these 30,000 dollar cruises.
00:12:32:08 – 00:12:32:16
Michelle
Mm hmm.
00:12:32:27 – 00:12:37:23
Joseph
Like, does Disney really not care about the average home average family.
00:12:37:23 – 00:12:38:14
Michelle
Anymore, right?
00:12:39:00 – 00:12:40:25
Joseph
Are they only catering to.
00:12:41:02 – 00:12:42:05
Michelle
The exceedingly.
00:12:42:05 – 00:12:42:28
Joseph
Rich people.
00:12:42:28 – 00:12:48:23
Michelle
That don’t have kids? Because, you know, it’s right. It’s just 34, you know, $28,000 just for two.
00:12:48:23 – 00:12:50:17
Michelle
Adults, you know, and anybody else?
00:12:51:06 – 00:12:52:17
Joseph
And who do we blame for this?
00:12:53:25 – 00:12:54:25
Michelle
Bob number two.
00:12:54:25 – 00:13:05:07
Joseph
Bob Novak, you’re right. I didn’t like Bob number one, but at least Bob number one didn’t deliberately go out of his way to alienate every other customer out.
00:13:05:07 – 00:13:05:24
Michelle
There, right?
00:13:06:00 – 00:13:18:01
Michelle
Right, exactly. You know, so and it’s so funny because the rest of the article, you know, goes, Oh, and there’s all these other activities. Well, yeah, for 2020 $9,000.
00:13:18:15 – 00:13:19:04
Michelle
Well, there.
00:13:19:04 – 00:13:21:03
Michelle
Better be a lot of other activities.
00:13:21:03 – 00:13:21:08
Michelle
Like.
00:13:21:09 – 00:13:28:08
Joseph
That’s a new car. Yeah, that’s a new car right there. Yeah, it’s it’s ridiculous. Shame on Disney for.
00:13:28:12 – 00:13:28:24
Michelle
Yeah.
00:13:28:24 – 00:13:30:21
Joseph
For even offering something like that.
00:13:30:23 – 00:13:32:15
Michelle
Yeah. If anything.
00:13:32:15 – 00:13:35:13
Joseph
Create something like that and give it away for free randomly to people.
00:13:35:14 – 00:13:36:12
Michelle
Right, exactly.
00:13:36:12 – 00:13:44:09
Joseph
Don’t even make it available for people to book. Give it away for free. Mm hmm. You have it as a drawing or something like that for your vacation club, people.
00:13:44:10 – 00:13:44:19
Michelle
Mm hmm.
00:13:45:05 – 00:13:49:14
Michelle
Or you just don’t blatantly like promote it.
00:13:49:23 – 00:13:53:15
Michelle
Frankly, like because obviously we know of how.
00:13:53:18 – 00:13:58:25
Joseph
Expensive these things are, as though they’re trying to be some upscale right resort, all.
00:13:58:25 – 00:14:17:12
Michelle
Of us. And that’s the thing is because, you know that they already had some sort of presidential suite. You know, and it was always one of those things that, you know, the average Joe didn’t know about. And did you know, because all of their other rooms or other resorts were reasonably priced and were, you know, were very
00:14:17:12 – 00:14:23:21
Michelle
nice? And obviously, if you were ultra rich, you knew about these other things that now to come.
00:14:23:21 – 00:14:29:26
Joseph
Out money, you could stay at the concierge level and get that kind of thing. But they didn’t advertise that.
00:14:29:26 – 00:14:30:27
Michelle
Right because they didn’t.
00:14:30:27 – 00:14:31:15
Michelle
It wasn’t a.
00:14:31:20 – 00:14:32:06
Joseph
Badge of.
00:14:32:06 – 00:14:32:19
Michelle
Honor.
00:14:32:20 – 00:14:48:03
Michelle
Right? Where now it’s like, Hey, you know, they had this whole event where, you know, it was like the majority of the people there. Probably, you know, maybe there were a couple of people in that event that could have afforded it, you know.
00:14:48:17 – 00:14:51:02
Michelle
Ask for $1,000.
00:14:51:02 – 00:14:55:05
Joseph
I should get the whole damn ship to myself. I shouldn’t just get a room right.
00:14:55:06 – 00:14:56:20
Michelle
I don’t want to borrow a room.
00:14:57:09 – 00:15:05:12
Michelle
Yeah. What’s the going rate of like renting out a private yacht, for example, for that amount of money? Yeah.
00:15:05:21 – 00:15:18:04
Joseph
It’s idiotic. Idiotic. Shame on Disney. Mm hmm. They need to. They need to learn the error of their ways and get back to the where they need to be, because I guarantee you Walt Disney would be rolling over in his grave with this stuff.
00:15:18:06 – 00:15:19:01
Michelle
Oh, absolutely.
00:15:19:11 – 00:15:21:18
Joseph
They’re they’re shameful and what they’re trying to do.
00:15:21:20 – 00:15:22:10
Michelle
Hmm. Yep.
00:15:23:22 – 00:15:49:10
Joseph
So that’s it for our best Disney section. We’re going to take a quick break and we’ll be right back with our tales from the edge of the galaxy and bash Star Wars. A little bit, maybe. For over seven years, the second Sith empire has been the Premiere Community Guild in the online game.
00:15:49:11 – 00:16:11:17
Joseph
Star Wars The Old Republic with hundreds of friendly and helpful active members, a weekly schedule of nightly events, annual guild meet and greets, and an active community both on the web and on Discord. The second civil empire is more than your typical gaming group.
00:16:12:11 – 00:16:34:04
Joseph
We’re family. Joining us on the star forward server for nightly events such as operations, flashpoints, world boss funds, Star Wars trivia, Old Lottery and much more. Visit us on the Web today at W W W Dot, the second ship.
00:16:34:04 – 00:16:35:24
Michelle
And fire icon.
00:16:46:15 – 00:17:06:09
Joseph
So the character, Sabine Wren, has been cast for Star Wars, Asoka Deadline.com tells us that Natasha Lou Bardzo has been cast as a lead opposite Rosario Dawson in the Disney Plus series Star Wars Ahsoka, a spin off from the Streams streamer’s hit series The Mandalorian.
00:17:07:06 – 00:17:28:03
Joseph
Perdita Bardzo will be taking on the character as being Ren from the Star Wars Rebels animated series. Dawson stars as a soldier Tano in the series after making the character’s live-action debut in The Mandalorian. The offshoot, executive produced by Filoni and Jon Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, will continue Ahsoka story.
00:17:29:04 – 00:17:43:18
Joseph
No additional information about the new series has been released by Lucasfilm, but there’s been a lot of online speculation. The key characters from rebels such as Are Ran, obviously, and Ezra Bridger would join Ahsoka in the new show.
00:17:44:02 – 00:17:57:08
Joseph
This is because prior to dropping in on The Mandalorian to assess the child, Ahsoka was last seen in the series finale of Rebels, where she and Reigns set out to find Bridger, who had been whisked away by the Pago.
00:17:58:04 – 00:18:23:04
Joseph
Sabine Wren, who was voiced on rebels by Tia Sarkar, is a young Mandalorian warrior, graffiti artist and imperial academy dropout and a former bounty hunter with expert knowledge of weapons and explosives. A soccer which is eyeing a March production start date is also expected to feature an appearance by Hayden Christensen as Ineke and Skywalker, who would reunite
00:18:23:04 – 00:18:36:26
Joseph
with his Jedi panel on a Asoka, likely in flashbacks as the series is set five years after Return of the Jedi. So this is kind of cool that they’re bringing more characters from the animated series back in.
00:18:36:28 – 00:18:37:09
Michelle
Yeah.
00:18:37:23 – 00:18:57:01
Joseph
They did a fantastic job with Ahsoka. That episode where the soccer was was just incredible. The choreography of the fight cinematics of it, but to being ran was one of the favorites that came out the rebels, right? And the character itself, she was one of the few characters.
00:18:57:24 – 00:19:19:03
Joseph
Well, they all went through a lot of character development, but she went through numerous phases in what was really a fairly short series, and she came in kind of as this, you know, late teenager kid, right? And you really got to see her mature a lot through the entire series itself up until the finale there.
00:19:20:05 – 00:19:28:23
Joseph
So the fact that they’re bringing her back in for this, I think, is great. She’s definitely she’s going to be another great fan favorite for cosplayers, too, because people are already doing.
00:19:28:28 – 00:19:31:18
Michelle
I was going to say they were already dressing as her to begin with.
00:19:31:24 – 00:19:49:16
Joseph
So I’m curious. She had a very customized, unique look. You know, she wears Mandalorian armor, but being a graffiti artist, it was heavily customized. So I’m very curious to see how well they bring that look back with her into live action.
00:19:49:20 – 00:20:09:14
Joseph
Hmm. In addition to that, we also have the Book of Boba, the Book of Boba Fett TV spot revealed that we had a special, that we had had an opportunity to watch that revealed a lot of interesting new information on the new TV series.
00:20:10:01 – 00:20:24:00
Joseph
So ComicBook.com tells us that Disney and Lucasfilm recently released the new television spot for the Book of Boba Fett, which offered a first look at new footage from the upcoming Disney Plus series, which releases at the end of this month.
00:20:26:21 – 00:20:47:23
Joseph
It really its release follows the first official trailer and a previous promotional video for the show, which spins out The Mandalorian second season. The book of Boba Fett starts tomorrow, Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-Na win as Fennec Shand as they attempt to fill the power vacuum in the Star Wars Galaxy Underworld left by the death of
00:20:47:23 – 00:21:08:24
Joseph
Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi. According to the show’s synopsis, the book of Boba Fett finds a legendary bounty hunter, Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand, laminating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the scenes of tattooing to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.
00:21:10:17 – 00:21:27:29
Joseph
In an interview from June, when explains how The Mandalorian and the Boba Fett and the Book of Boba Fett differ. She says probably there will be some similarities. Tonally, you’ll know Mandalorian is very much a loner, except for his relationship with Grogan.
00:21:28:13 – 00:21:43:17
Joseph
So just the dynamic that there is now. With a team between Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, I think that really creates a different quality for the show. Yeah, that’s about all I can say, which is, you know, typical for most of our Star Wars shows.
00:21:44:13 – 00:22:02:25
Joseph
Robert Rodriguez directed Boba Fett’s return in Chapter 14, The Tragedy of The Mandalorian. He’s teased that the book of Boba Fett will feature even more epic action with the iconic bounty hunter. In a recent interview, Rodriguez says, I’ve got so much to tell you about that, but I’m out of time.
00:22:03:16 – 00:22:15:21
Joseph
Yeah, I can’t say anything about that sworn to silence. I can’t say, I can say I’m working on it, and I can tell you it’s going to blow your mind. Yo, you saw him arrive in my episode of The Mandalorian.
00:22:16:06 – 00:22:30:04
Joseph
That was nothing. I can talk it up all I want because I know it’s going to deliver. I know what’s going on over deliver. So we’ll see. The Book of Boba Fett is one of several Star Wars shows headed to Disney Plus.
00:22:30:18 – 00:22:42:06
Joseph
The Mandalorian is filming its third season. Asoka will begin filming soon and Obi-Wan Kenobi wrapped filming in September. So what did you think of the of the special?
00:22:42:18 – 00:23:07:23
Michelle
I liked it. It definitely gave you. You know, some perspective on it, and like we had even, you know, talked about, you know, previously before, is that Boba Fett was just this, you know, background character. But yet he had such a presence that everybody watching had picked up on, and you had people started, you know, dressing up
00:23:07:23 – 00:23:21:25
Michelle
like him and making their own costumes when there was nothing out there. So there was this like fascination with it. And he was probably that one character. You know, where you always, you know, you always say, Oh, we don’t need a backstory on this guy.
00:23:21:25 – 00:23:38:19
Michelle
We don’t need, you know, but with Boba Fett, and especially when you had the the original trilogy, it would be the prequel trilogies come out and you kind of saw how Boba Fett became Boba Fett. It was kind of interesting, you know?
00:23:38:19 – 00:23:53:13
Michelle
And of course, obviously, you know, everybody thought Boba Fett was dead, right? That was kind of, you know, to. So with The Mandalorian, you know, giving you those hints at first, then it was like, All right, these kind of cool.
00:23:53:14 – 00:24:00:28
Michelle
And then when he shows up and goes, there everything you’re like, All right, he he’s bad ass. You know, this kind of the special.
00:24:01:04 – 00:24:07:09
Joseph
The special wasn’t really what I thought it was going to be. It was less behind the scenes stuff and it was kind of more.
00:24:07:09 – 00:24:08:29
Michelle
Historical, you know, kind of.
00:24:08:29 – 00:24:28:21
Joseph
Driving this story of Boba Fett more than it was behind the scenes and concept art and stuff like that. So it wasn’t what I was expecting, but I did like it. What I did, like they had a recent teaser trailer that they had released about this showed some more footage from the show and it it kind of
00:24:28:21 – 00:24:32:10
Joseph
hinted at. They’re going to tell you the story of how he survives.
00:24:33:21 – 00:24:33:25
Michelle
The.
00:24:33:28 – 00:24:39:15
Joseph
Sarlacc period. Okay, we got to where you got to and how he lost his armor and, you know, stuff like that.
00:24:39:16 – 00:24:40:18
Michelle
Okay. Okay.
00:24:41:09 – 00:24:47:00
Joseph
So it definitely looks interesting. Hopefully it lives up to the hype, though.
00:24:47:01 – 00:24:57:13
Michelle
Well, and so far, we haven’t been disappointed with anything that. Filoni and Favreau have done right with with Star.
00:24:57:14 – 00:24:59:23
Michelle
Wars the if anything, the.
00:25:00:19 – 00:25:15:05
Michelle
You know, if anything, they’ve helped to save, you know, because obviously we both agree that the recent movies, you know, besides Rogue one really have kind of. Been lacking.
00:25:15:16 – 00:25:17:06
Joseph
I’m glad I’ve turned to the dark side.
00:25:17:27 – 00:25:19:16
Michelle
With a shirt like that. How can I.
00:25:19:16 – 00:25:19:24
Michelle
Not?
00:25:21:19 – 00:25:29:05
Joseph
So that was all we had for our tails from the edge of the galaxy. We’ll be right back after this quick break with our entertainment news of the week.

00:26:41:20 – 00:26:43:10
Joseph
Go for entertainment news.
00:26:43:13 – 00:27:03:24
Michelle
So if you’ve been living under a rock, you haven’t heard anything from Adele in a while, she’s she’s in the news almost every day between the various TV specials, her her album obviously coming out cat scratching and stuff.
00:27:03:24 – 00:27:07:09
Michelle
For now, that wasn’t the cat scratching sound like a cat scratching. You never know.
00:27:07:15 – 00:27:08:21
Joseph
It certainly wasn’t Adele.
00:27:08:21 – 00:27:10:02
Michelle
She she wasn’t. She wasn’t.
00:27:10:02 – 00:27:33:08
Michelle
Knocking. I mean, yeah. So Adele is known for moving fans to tears with her music. But the Grammy Award winning singer shared some of her own after a surprise reunion with a former high school teacher. The emotional moment happened during the British powerhouses ITV concert special An Audience with Adele, which aired in the U.K. the other week
00:27:34:03 – 00:28:01:14
Michelle
. During the prerecorded concert, the pop superstar took a question from Hollywood actress Emma Thompson, who asked whether there was anybody in her past who had supported her, inspired her or protected her from life’s trials and tribulations. In response, Adele opened about opened up about the impact Miss McDonald, her English teacher at Chestnut Grove Academy, had on her
00:28:01:27 – 00:28:16:04
Michelle
. The London born singer shared I had a teacher at Chestnut Grove who taught me English. That was Miss McDonald. She got me really into English literature like I’ve always been obsessed with English and obviously now I write lyrics.
00:28:16:11 – 00:28:35:27
Michelle
She was so bloody cool, so engaging. Adele added, recalling that MacDonald often wore sequence and gold bracelets. She really made us care, and we knew that she cared about us. Thompson then revealed that MacDonald, whom Adele hadn’t seen in 20 years, was in the audience.
00:28:36:07 – 00:28:57:09
Michelle
It was that it was time for the singer, who is used to surprising fans at her concerts to be left stunned. In the clip, which which which was shared on ITV’s Twitter account from the highly anticipated televised UK concert special, Adele embraced her former mentor after she was brought on stage.
00:28:57:27 – 00:29:14:02
Michelle
I’m so proud of you! MacDonald had said to Adele, crying tears of joy during their exchange. The hitmaker told MacDonald, You really did change my life. Now I’ve got to go get my whole face redone. The 33 year old star joked after wiping tears away.
00:29:14:11 – 00:29:33:07
Michelle
So then she called on host Alan Carr to step in and entertain the audience with a song while she stepped away to get her composure and get her her face redone. It’s really a funny clip. After the special aired, Adele took to Twitter to share her excitement at the reunion.
00:29:33:17 – 00:29:48:06
Michelle
Home sweet home. I’ve always dreamt of doing an audience with! She wrote alongside a series of pictures from the TV special, adding there was such love in the room for each other. It felt like such a gig and my teacher, Miss McDonnell, was there.
00:29:48:06 – 00:30:02:19
Michelle
It was just it was just like having an audience with. Adele was filmed at the London Palladium earlier this month in front of a star studded audience, which included the likes of Samuel Jackson, Jodie Comer and Idris Elba.
00:30:03:01 – 00:30:23:13
Michelle
The broadcast comes a week behind a similar U.S. TV special, Adele one Night Only, which was included with an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey. She’s obviously currently promoting her new album 30, which is her fourth studio album and the first to be released since her last album in 2015.
00:30:23:22 – 00:30:35:08
Michelle
And the project, which focuses on Adele’s healing process following her divorce from her ex-husband Simon, has garnered widespread acclaim from music critics everywhere.
00:30:35:16 – 00:30:37:14
Joseph
This was a cute story like this.
00:30:37:15 – 00:30:38:14
Michelle
Yeah, yeah.
00:30:38:25 – 00:30:44:15
Joseph
I mean, she’s really a class act, and the fact that she’s that emotional about a former teacher.
00:30:45:02 – 00:30:47:24
Michelle
From 20 years ago, from when she was 13.
00:30:48:05 – 00:31:04:08
Joseph
And it wasn’t even like a music teacher, Ryan, who was trying to get into this business. It was someone that inspired her to learn the language right, but to learn, to write. And and that really is the key to her music is the way that she can write these lyrics, right?
00:31:04:23 – 00:31:08:00
Joseph
And and the effect that she has on other people.
00:31:08:00 – 00:31:08:27
Michelle
Mm hmm. Yeah.
00:31:09:04 – 00:31:10:24
Joseph
And that’s her teacher coming through.
00:31:10:25 – 00:31:11:17
Michelle
Absolutely.
00:31:11:17 – 00:31:18:12
Joseph
I think that’s really the only thing that I am a little miffed about is we there were two events we didn’t get invited to either of them.
00:31:19:00 – 00:31:21:08
Michelle
I, yeah, I thought we were on the list.
00:31:21:09 – 00:31:33:10
Michelle
I thought we I thought we were tight with our, you know, but you know, she did announce. Unfortunately, it seems the only concert she is going to be doing in the US next year is a residency in Las Vegas, which.
00:31:33:10 – 00:31:37:10
Joseph
Is, you know what, if she wants to give us front row tickets for that? We will be happy to show.
00:31:37:10 – 00:31:37:27
Michelle
Off if.
00:31:37:27 – 00:31:39:02
Michelle
She wants to send out.
00:31:39:24 – 00:31:40:15
Michelle
five private.
00:31:40:15 – 00:31:41:07
Joseph
Plane for.
00:31:41:07 – 00:31:41:20
Michelle
Us, we’re.
00:31:41:20 – 00:31:42:29
Michelle
Totally OK with.
00:31:43:14 – 00:31:52:19
Joseph
Yes, I do not fly domestic any more. With the pandemic, so I’ll be happy to show up. We’ll we’ll even do the podcast from the show.
00:31:52:20 – 00:31:54:17
Michelle
OK, I love you could. We could put.
00:31:54:17 – 00:31:55:10
Michelle
That out to her.
00:31:55:10 – 00:32:00:10
Joseph
I could. We could do the interview right there. You know, I think we do pretty good interviews.
00:32:00:13 – 00:32:02:16
Michelle
Oh my God, could you imagine that.
00:32:02:16 – 00:32:07:15
Joseph
Would be kind of cool for us, you know, to go out there and do a team interview offer?
00:32:07:15 – 00:32:10:05
Michelle
I think some that would be awesome. But, you.
00:32:10:05 – 00:32:13:08
Joseph
Know, if she can’t do, then she’s I’d be more than happy.
00:32:13:08 – 00:32:13:25
Michelle
To assume.
00:32:13:27 – 00:32:26:18
Joseph
I’d be more than happy to zoom and do an interview. So, Adele, I know you watched the podcast. Drop us a line in comments and insights into thestar.com.
00:32:29:13 – 00:32:30:17
Michelle
Oh, and.
00:32:30:17 – 00:32:32:02
Joseph
If that wasn’t weird.
00:32:33:08 – 00:32:34:11
Michelle
Oh, really?
00:32:34:18 – 00:32:54:12
Michelle
Oh, that was a good one. So. So it seems that weird al kind of shades Kid Rock, which is a beautiful thing. So weird. Al Yankovic wants everyone to know that he had nothing to do with Kid Rock’s latest ranty video.
00:32:55:00 – 00:33:21:07
Michelle
Yankovic had tweeted to everybody that’s congratulating me on the new Kid Rock parody video. Let me clarify, that’s not me. That’s actually Kid Rock Kid Rock’s new song and VIDEO Don’t Tell Me How to Live is an attack on snowflakes, but the extensive list of complaints makes Kid Rock look like a snowflake himself as he rages on
00:33:21:07 – 00:33:42:02
Michelle
against millennials. Talking all this B.S., he whines into the camera near the start of the song. He also flies around straddling a giant finger while firing a gun in a song and video that is closely resembled a parody that many commenters mockingly congratulated Yankovic.
00:33:42:09 – 00:34:02:17
Michelle
Oh, you really nailed it! Weird, al. Finally, a new Weird Al video, another person wrote. And then finally, fans of Weird Al started commenting back, saying, Weird al just eviscerated Kid Rock like a surgeon. Somebody else said, Weird al is slamming Kid Rock harder then.
00:34:02:23 – 00:34:22:19
Michelle
The Rock was slamming Vince McMahon, and somebody else said, That’s it. Nothing will be funnier than this. Kid Rock discourse has peaked. Weird al. You’re an absolute legend. Somebody else said, Oh my God, I just watch it. And I’m really like, Is this a weird al parody of Kid Rock song?
00:34:22:28 – 00:34:40:05
Michelle
He talks about offending millennials, even though that means adults under 40 now. Who is this guy? Does anybody know who he is or even looks like he looks like Zach Galifianakis? And of course, somebody else says, Weird Al never misses a goat.
00:34:40:18 – 00:34:58:21
Michelle
Another person had said this was the tweet of the year candidate and al. Please accept that this internet you won fair and square and your crown is ready, sir. I actually tried watching the video and I couldn’t even make it like a minute in.
00:34:58:22 – 00:35:13:15
Michelle
I was so disgusted by. But yeah, I could definitely see how people thought. It wasn’t a real video that it was a fake video and figured, OK, maybe it was.
00:35:14:29 – 00:35:15:18
Michelle
It’s weird.
00:35:15:18 – 00:35:20:20
Joseph
And now what is Weird Al’s response? So weird al now has to do a parody parody.
00:35:20:21 – 00:35:31:05
Michelle
Oh, I’m sure. I’m sure he’s going to do something now. I did actually see him tweet something today about concert information for next year.
00:35:31:06 – 00:35:36:09
Joseph
So again, we’re not out. We’re, you know, we’ll promote you on the show.
00:35:36:10 – 00:35:37:08
Michelle
Come on in.
00:35:37:09 – 00:35:49:17
Joseph
Your, you know, we’d love to do an interview. Real will Zoom will come out to you. But if you’re in the area and you got a concert there for and tickets are right, we’ll get them out to the audience.
00:35:49:21 – 00:35:52:06
Joseph
You know, we get people right and we’ll do a contest and.
00:35:52:23 – 00:35:56:15
Michelle
You go, There you go. Anyway.
00:35:57:06 – 00:36:01:26
Michelle
Hey, you know what? You never know. There might be somebody listening that is friends.
00:36:01:26 – 00:36:03:21
Michelle
Or works for something.
00:36:03:22 – 00:36:07:11
Joseph
You never know. If nothing else, we get to have fun with it.
00:36:07:13 – 00:36:09:01
Michelle
Absolutely. That’s what we’re here for.
00:36:09:08 – 00:36:13:01
Joseph
So I think that was all we had for our entertainment news this week.
00:36:13:07 – 00:36:13:24
Michelle
Yup.
00:36:13:25 – 00:36:23:22
Joseph
We’ll be right back with your insightful pick. Go for your.
00:36:23:22 – 00:36:49:13
Michelle
Insightful, so my insightful pick is the Beatles Get Back, which has been playing on Disney Plus The Beatles Get Back is a 2021 documentary series directed and produced by Peter Jackson, and it covers the making of the Beatles 1970 album Let It Be, which had been the working title of Get Back and draws from a material originally
00:36:49:13 – 00:37:09:04
Michelle
captured for Michael Lindsay-Hogg 1970 documentary of the album. Originally conceived as a feature film, The Beatles Get Back consists of three episodes with runtimes between two and three hours, resulting in a total runtime of nearly eight hours of material.
00:37:09:19 – 00:37:34:08
Michelle
The series is presented by Walt Disney Studios in association with Apple Corps and Wingnut Films. Jackson characterized the Beatles Get Back as a documentary about a documentary. Commentators have described it as a challenging, long time belief that the making of Let It Be was marked entirely by tensions between The Beatles, showing a more upbeat side of the
00:37:34:08 – 00:37:49:05
Michelle
production. It premiered on Disney Plus consecutively on the 25th through the 27th of November, and the mini series was widely acclaimed by critics who highlighted the historical merit of the footage and its showing of the inner workings of the band.
00:37:49:13 – 00:38:15:27
Michelle
Although some deemed the runtime to be excessive, so. Being a Beatles fan, and this was a very interesting kind of fly on the wall, take of things because you got to see the inner workings of the band and kind of the end of the band, you know, at the time, they didn’t know it was the end of
00:38:15:27 – 00:38:32:11
Michelle
them. There are kind of hints throughout, you know, that there’s some tension. You know, one of the things that you know, many years later, even in various interviews, you know, oh, Yoko was the one that broke up the group or whatever.
00:38:32:19 – 00:38:42:23
Michelle
And you see this and Yoko was being very supportive of Yoko is just kind of sitting in the background. Of course, there’s also some Harikrishna scene.
00:38:42:23 – 00:38:44:22
Michelle
In the background, too, which is a little.
00:38:45:00 – 00:39:10:08
Michelle
Odd at one point. But like, you don’t see anything, if anything, she’s being supportive and and being, you know, just there to to take all this in. Another thing that’s kind of interesting is just to see the process of how a song started as one way and totally morphed into something else.
00:39:10:13 – 00:39:27:00
Michelle
So like, you sit there and you watch it and you hear them strumming along and you start singing the words that you know the song is, but they don’t know it yet. They haven’t done it yet. And a lot of times with a lot of songs, they came up with the melody first.
00:39:27:00 – 00:39:47:10
Michelle
So and then they just kind of throw in words or names of people. And what was kind of interesting was they would like throw up little comments about, Oh, this person was a famous British boxer or this person was somebody else because you’re sitting there you go.
00:39:47:10 – 00:40:04:17
Michelle
Who is that? You know what? What is that? And they kind of go into the history of how that song kind of came to be. And it was funny. I was listening to Preston and Stephen. They were talking about it too, and how they’re sitting there and he’s singing a song and he’s singing the wrong lines.
00:40:04:23 – 00:40:06:10
Michelle
And like, you almost want to yell at the TV.
00:40:06:11 – 00:40:09:04
Michelle
No, that’s not the words.
00:40:09:10 – 00:40:31:20
Michelle
It’s this. Yeah, because everybody knows the words to the song, but they didn’t know it yet. So it’s kind of interesting to see that aspect of it. And then you get to see where George kind of like gave up really at one point and at the end of the one episode, he’s like during lunch, he’s like, All
00:40:31:20 – 00:40:44:00
Michelle
right, see you guys later, I guess you going to replace me? And he just walks off like, there’s no big fight. There’s no nothing. But you can tell there had been all this tension kind of leading up to it.
00:40:44:21 – 00:41:02:16
Michelle
So you can kind of tell that it’s the beginning of the end, and the way that it starts off is that they’re filming all this stuff. They’re going to make a movie, but they’re also planning that this is only going to be like a two or three week thing to do a live television show at the end
00:41:02:29 – 00:41:16:13
Michelle
. And then all the plans just kind of change in the middle. It’s like, Well, let’s not do this, let’s do something else. But we’re not sure, but we know we have to be finished by this certain day because Ringo has a project that he’s going to.
00:41:16:14 – 00:41:28:25
Michelle
So like, they knew they had certain timelines, but it’s like, Well, what are we doing today? And you know, George laughed. And it was like, Well, we’re not going to do anything today. We’ll just come back tomorrow, you know, and it’s like, OK.
00:41:29:00 – 00:41:48:02
Michelle
So again, it was very interesting because everybody knows how it ended. Everybody knows where you know it is today. But to just see that process, it is kind of long. It’s definitely one of those things where you just kind of maybe watch it as background noise in some respects.
00:41:48:02 – 00:42:00:23
Michelle
But there are things that because it’s not your typical documentary where you have the commentator talking about and today on that. So sometimes you do actually have to look at the screen and read, you know what they say?
00:42:01:01 – 00:42:14:27
Michelle
But it’s definitely one of those things that you don’t have to be like completely glued to watch it. I know you only watched a little bit of the first episode, so it would be nice if that kind of came out with like a condensed version for those that want to watch it.
00:42:14:27 – 00:42:21:01
Michelle
Definitely. The third episode is, you know, probably the best one. You know of them all.
00:42:21:02 – 00:42:21:17
Joseph
OK.
00:42:21:25 – 00:42:22:23
Michelle
Good pick. Thank you.
00:42:28:24 – 00:42:49:06
Joseph
So my pick this week, not a documentary. Surprisingly enough, my pick this week is Star Trek Discovery. I have been binge watching Star Trek Discovery since we got Paramount Plus. I had refused to get it before we got it for something else, and if we are all right, this is my chance to watch it.
00:42:49:06 – 00:43:13:24
Joseph
So I’ve I’ve burned through season one through season two and now I’m on season three. So the series begins roughly ten years before the events of Star Trek, the original series. That’s Commander Michael Burnham, Wreck Commander Commander Michael Burnham’s recklessness starts a war between the United Federation of Planets and The Killing on Empire.
00:43:14:11 – 00:43:38:00
Joseph
She’s court-martialed, demoted and sentenced to prison. But through a series of unusual events, winds up assigned to the Starship Discovery, the discovery has a unique secret means of propulsion no known as the spore drive. And after an adventure in the Mirror universe, the crew of Discovery helps to end the Klingon war, and Burnham is restored to the
00:43:38:00 – 00:44:00:24
Joseph
rank of Commander. That’s season one, so in season two Discovery, the Discovery crew investigates seven mysterious signals in a strange figure known as the Red Angel. And they also feed off some rogue artificial intelligence or something. And in the third season, Burnham and the crew of the discovery find the federation fragment and investigate the cause of a
00:44:00:24 – 00:44:19:23
Joseph
cataclysmic event known as the burn. Now that’s a very high level descriptions of those three seasons, missing a lot of details to go watch it. It was very good. The first season was probably the best so far. The first season was was interesting for a number of reasons.
00:44:20:18 – 00:44:39:10
Joseph
It was loaded with action for the first episode and throughout the whole season, and kept you on the edge of your seat, which is not your typical Star Trek experience when it comes to series television. There is a well-placed series of leads, the point to a major plot twist later in the season, which was very well done
00:44:39:20 – 00:44:58:27
Joseph
, like they had planned the whole thing out very well and it was a progression to get to that point, which was nicely done. You also get to see a side of Klingons that you never saw before. Klingons are race that’s been thoroughly covered in the series of the franchise through other other series versions of the show.
00:45:00:17 – 00:45:27:27
Joseph
You also get guest appearances by a famous ship, which shall remain unnamed in this pic. And a famous though little scene captain in franchise history, which makes for very interesting tie into the original series on multiple occasions. Creatively, the first season was brilliant, filmed in the very familiar lens flare filled style of J.J. Abrams, the entire season
00:45:27:27 – 00:45:56:02
Joseph
had a theatrical flair you don’t normally see in series television. The concept of following a lesser array of characters offers a rather than, I’m sorry, the concept of following a lesser array of officers rather than the swashbuckling or genius diplomat senior officers was a refreshing take on a franchise that demonstrates there’s more to Star Trek than just
00:45:56:02 – 00:46:16:05
Joseph
the captains. Character development was a little slow and somewhat forced, but by season three, there’s a familiarity and emotional investment in most of the characters, despite the repetitive character flaws that act as plot points. The second season was a little bit slower and sloppy, sloppier as if they kind of had an ultimate point in mind that they
00:46:16:05 – 00:46:35:13
Joseph
wanted to get to. And then they kind of muddle their way along to get there. It lacked the same polish as season one, but was still enjoyable. The cavalcade of characters marching in and out of the storyline helps to keep the dialog in the plant fresh from episode to episode, rather than the same fix of fixed group
00:46:35:13 – 00:46:57:03
Joseph
of people in every show. Season three, which I’m I think four or five episodes into at this point in time looks promising, but again, it’s one that seems to have a fixed endpoint, and they’re trying to reach the same meandering way to get the end of the season that they did in season two, rather than the strategically
00:46:57:03 – 00:47:20:03
Joseph
planned progression of season one, with all the hooks laid out nice and neat. Season four is releasing now. And for our viewers in the will outside of the United States, it’s difficult for you to watch it at this point in time because of the change from CBS All Access to Paramount Plus and licensing and then pulling it
00:47:20:03 – 00:47:34:09
Joseph
off of Netflix and all other kinds of stuff. I haven’t watched any of season four yet, I want to get through season three, then I’ll promptly move on to four or I’m looking forward to seeing where the story goes.
00:47:35:03 – 00:47:55:11
Joseph
So that’s my pick this week. Star Trek Discovery on Paramount+, and we’ll be right back. So that was it for the meat and potatoes of the show today, dear mom. What did we have for afterthoughts.
00:47:55:11 – 00:47:58:19
Michelle
So for our lockers and jelly donuts?
00:47:59:29 – 00:48:01:14
Michelle
Oh, it’s funny. It was good.
00:48:02:00 – 00:48:08:17
Michelle
Think so. two events that are coming up both next weekend already. If we can believe it.
00:48:09:00 – 00:48:11:04
Joseph
We can because I have Friday off to go to one.
00:48:11:05 – 00:48:12:28
Michelle
Yeah, exactly. Hey, so do I.
00:48:13:17 – 00:48:41:01
Michelle
So we have the Ocean City Comic Con, which is Saturday, December 11th, from ten to five at the Roland Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland. If you are not going to that, but in the Allentown, Pennsylvania, area, there is the Pennsylvania Toy and Comic Super Show, which is also Saturday, December eleven, from ten to 2:00 p.m. And
00:48:41:01 – 00:48:50:28
Michelle
then we’re starting to get information for shows for next year because this is pretty much the end of the comic shows for this year.
00:48:51:05 – 00:48:53:01
Joseph
But we have conveniently enough.
00:48:53:01 – 00:49:14:29
Michelle
It’s also the end of the year, so it’s funny how that happens. So this was one that kind of was going back and forth with the dates and because this was actually originally supposed to happen at the end of November, and I guess something happened with the dates, but now they officially have dates for Fan Expo, which
00:49:14:29 – 00:49:31:28
Michelle
is the new name of what Wizard World became. And right now it is planned for the Philadelphia Convention Center in Center City because the one date that we had was going to be in OK’s Pennsylvania. So now they.
00:49:32:06 – 00:49:32:14
Michelle
Are.
00:49:32:14 – 00:49:33:29
Joseph
Going to be a greater convention.
00:49:33:29 – 00:49:35:28
Michelle
You know, the Greater Philly?
00:49:35:28 – 00:49:46:18
Michelle
No, it’s at the Philadelphia Expo Center and it will be the weekend of April eighth through the 10th and obviously will have more information as it gets a little closer.
00:49:46:27 – 00:50:09:13
Joseph
