Your hosts are Joseph and Madison, as well as a father and daughter team making their way through the challenges of.
00:00:41:16 – 00:00:50:25
Michelle
The teenage years.
00:00:51:12 – 00:01:08:02
Joseph
Welcome to Insights Into Teens. This is episode 154 Ranking Magic Kingdom Rides. I’m your host, Joseph Whalen, and my energetic and analytical co-host, Madison, when everyone. How are you doing today, Maddy? I’m doing.
00:01:08:02 – 00:01:08:27
Madison
All right. How about.
00:01:08:27 – 00:01:24:12
Joseph
You? Doing good. And this week, we have our special guest host with us, Michelle Whalen, from Insights into Entertainment. She is our resident Disney expert and will be offering valuable insights.
00:01:24:26 – 00:01:25:19
Michelle
Or we’ll go with.
00:01:25:19 – 00:01:27:08
Joseph
That. How are you doing today, dear?
00:01:27:09 – 00:01:28:16
Michelle
I’m good. How are you?
00:01:28:22 – 00:02:00:01
Joseph
I’m doing great. So we are on camera and so we are at the back of Michelle Will’s water savings. So we are fresh back from our trip to Disney and we decided actually it was going to be a ride home discussion during our 16 hour ride home, right where we were going to rank rides and experiences. And we decided that let’s turn it into a couple of podcasts for us, a discussion.
00:02:00:27 – 00:02:21:00
Joseph
So that’s what today is. And fresh from our week in Disney, and thanks to the creative thinking afforded by our 16 hour drive, we decided to take a little departure from some of the hard hitting topics we’ve been talking about for a little bit of fun. We’re going to take the next couple of episodes to dove into our reviews of some of the more popular rides and attractions in Disney World.
00:02:21:18 – 00:02:45:15
Joseph
On this week’s episode of Insights into Teens, we’re going to examine the Magic Kingdom. But before we do that, we do want to invite our listening and viewing audience to check out the podcast and subscribe. You can find us listed as insights in the teens for audio only. You can also find audio and video versions of all the network’s podcasts listed as Insights The Things.
00:02:46:03 – 00:03:14:20
Joseph
And we’re available on Apple, Spotify, Google, anywhere you get a podcast these days. We would also invite you to writing. Give us your feedback. We’re always looking for suggestions on show notes as well. You can email us at comments and insights into things dot.com. You can hit us on Twitter and Twitter.com. Slight slash insights, underscore things where you get links to all those and more on our official website at WW W dot insights into things dot com.
00:03:15:12 – 00:03:21:04
Joseph
Are we ready. Sure. Okay. Here we go.
00:03:25:00 – 00:03:48:24
Joseph
So the first area that we’re going to start out with, because you were kind enough mentioned to break these down in the different areas for us is Tomorrowland. So in Tomorrowland we have a couple of different rides, most of which I haven’t been on. So I don’t I don’t see me speaking too much in this segment. Why don’t you give us a rundown and give us your rating and feedback?
00:03:49:04 – 00:04:02:05
Madison
All right. So the first one on our list is the Astro Orbiter, of which only me and mommy ended up going on. So I suppose you and I can really just discuss our ratings on the ride? Sure. Do you want to go first?
00:04:03:06 – 00:04:05:02
Joseph
I would say.
00:04:06:24 – 00:04:08:01
Michelle
I’d give it a six.
00:04:08:21 – 00:04:10:05
Joseph
So a rating scale is.
00:04:10:05 – 00:04:10:25
Michelle
1 to 10.
00:04:10:27 – 00:04:20:21
Joseph
Okay, then being the best? Absolutely. Okay. So I guess it’s probably worthwhile to kind of talk about how we’re rating these. So what’s the criteria for rating these?
00:04:22:09 – 00:04:31:20
Michelle
Oh, I guess for me, it’s theming uniqueness.
00:04:31:20 – 00:04:32:13
Joseph
Wow.
00:04:32:13 – 00:04:58:23
Michelle
Factor, you know, because I don’t need it to, you know, be a fast spinning thing, you know, looping type thing. You know, there are some people that that’s what they look for in a ride. You know, when they’re going on like a roller coaster or something like that, they want to be jarred, you know, where you know, I think I kind of I look at multiple aspects of it.
00:04:58:23 – 00:05:07:12
Michelle
So for me, it’s it’s not a ten. It’s you know, it’s not a five. It’s a little bit I gave it a six.
00:05:07:15 – 00:05:08:05
Joseph
I gave it to say.
00:05:08:24 – 00:05:18:13
Michelle
You know, I wrote it these days, sort of. So giving it a six because it’s a bit different than your typical carnival ride.
00:05:18:14 – 00:05:18:28
Joseph
Okay.
00:05:19:25 – 00:05:27:09
Michelle
And it has a magnificent view of the Magic Kingdom, you know, and especially if you go on it at night.
00:05:27:14 – 00:05:28:26
Joseph
That’s a very important.
00:05:28:28 – 00:05:42:27
Michelle
So that’s that’s definitely a an important thing. Okay. But, you know, it’s a quick ride and that’s unfortunate with a lot of the rides in Disney is that certain rides are just very short.
00:05:42:29 – 00:05:43:12
Joseph
Sure.
00:05:43:16 – 00:05:49:08
Michelle
And that’s where it kind of gets dinged a little too many.
00:05:49:08 – 00:05:53:14
Joseph
What your rating and what your feedback and what your rating methodology be looking.
00:05:54:12 – 00:06:16:19
Madison
For me, I’m also not really looking for the thrill of the ride in a lot of cases. I kind of find it to be like I really like the esthetic of rides. I like to appreciate what the rides doing because not every rides trying to be a thrill ride. So I can appreciate just the general purpose of a ride and I don’t really do it on a scale factor that’s I feel thrilled by it, really just the esthetic and what it’s trying to get across.
00:06:17:22 – 00:06:20:03
Madison
And for me, I’m actually going to give it a five out of ten.
00:06:20:08 – 00:06:24:01
Joseph
Okay. Little critical there. Like.
00:06:24:29 – 00:06:52:20
Madison
I guess I I’m really just critical of it because the wait time is just really long for it. And like, I kind of found the ride to be incredibly overrated. It’s pretty much just Dumbo, but you got a really great view, and it felt a little weird because it feels a little more fast paced than Dumbo. And, you know, you kind of got the generic rides of, Oh, there’s a ton of certain things and they go around the circle and you get to go up and down in them.
00:06:52:20 – 00:06:55:07
Joseph
And so it’s Dumbo with altitude.
00:06:55:25 – 00:07:18:00
Madison
Yeah, well, we’ll go with that. Like, it’s cool that you get to ride an elevator with it. And I mean, it is just basically trying to accomplish like Dumbo but higher up and you get a good view of it and it’s a little faster paced, but I don’t know, Dumbo itself was not always one of my favorites, an Astro orbiter.
00:07:18:01 – 00:07:22:02
Madison
It just my main factor is just that it was all that. It was overhyped.
00:07:22:03 – 00:07:45:11
Joseph
Okay. And I can’t read that one because I haven’t gone on that one myself. But the next one that we have up is Buzz Lightyear, Space Ranger Spin. Now, this one I have been on. So one of the things that are some of the things that I look for in a ride for me are replayability, you know, do I want to go on a ride multiple times or is that the same thing over and over?
00:07:45:12 – 00:08:19:02
Joseph
There’s nothing changing. There’s nothing dynamic about the ride. So the rides that make me want to go on a more are rides I enjoy more interactive rides I enjoy and Disney has has certain certainly gotten better with those. Part of it’s also the popularity of the ride which which works into the wait times as well. Yeah. So there are a couple in addition to what you guys had already talked about, there are a couple of things that I looked at and one of the ones that I love is Buzz Lightyear, because it’s so interactive and it’s multi-person interactive.
00:08:19:19 – 00:08:41:00
Joseph
So you ride with a second person typically on there and you’re riding through and it’s a, you know, a ride on the rails type thing, but you’ve got targets all over the place and you can spin your capsule around. So there’s that level of dynamic interaction and you get to keep score. So, you know, it can be a competition of something because, you know, it’s not a competition off on winning.
00:08:42:01 – 00:08:51:14
Joseph
So I would give Buzz like yours, space ranger spin, probably a seven out of ten because it’s one of my more favorite rides. Mommy, what do you think?
00:08:51:15 – 00:09:13:27
Michelle
I would probably give it a seven for for the same same reasons, because it can be a different ride every time you go on it, you know, which you know which targets do I hit? You know, if you happened to do some research online before you go, there are cheat sheets out there that will tell you this target.
00:09:13:27 – 00:09:37:06
Michelle
If you hit this multiple times, you’ll get the high score and you’ll get the Galactic Ranger prize for it, you know? So that’s what’s kind of neat, plus the fact that for most of the ride you have control of what direction you’re in. You know, even though you’re on a track, you can still spin and, you know, go wherever you want.
00:09:37:08 – 00:09:39:04
Joseph
Yeah, I love that love and go roll that.
00:09:39:19 – 00:09:45:10
Michelle
That’s an interesting twist that most rides, you know, don’t have. So, yeah, I’d give it a seven.
00:09:45:18 – 00:09:47:03
Joseph
All right, Madison.
00:09:48:14 – 00:09:51:06
Madison
You know, round out the challenge now give it a seven as well.
00:09:51:08 – 00:09:55:04
Joseph
There we go. It’s a divine ride at seven, seven, seven. Look at that.
00:09:55:10 – 00:10:30:20
Madison
Yeah, it’s like it’s definitely a fun ride for that aspect. The fact that it’s so unique and you it’s pretty much different every time and you can control most of the experience. I guess I only really dug points because honestly, it’s definitely not. I don’t find it to be a particularly whimsical ride. I guess the theming is pretty cool, but it’s really I don’t really have too much to complain about.
00:10:30:20 – 00:10:42:19
Madison
It’s kind of just like it’s certainly not one that I’d like go on all the time or it’s one that I’m always like like really psyched to do. It’s like, if it’s there, I’ll do it. Like, that’s because it is.
00:10:42:19 – 00:11:05:03
Joseph
It’s sometimes not there, but anyway, so, okay, so I think we’re pretty much all on the same page on them. And so the next one that we have on our list is one that only you have on Madison and that is Space Mountain. And that’s also the one that you’ve gotten lost on, too. Yeah.
00:11:05:03 – 00:11:06:05
Madison
Thanks for bringing that up.
00:11:06:17 – 00:11:15:00
Joseph
I can’t talk about Space Mountain without that. So tell us, you know, Phyllis, your thoughts on Space Mountain and how you’d read that.
00:11:15:00 – 00:11:38:18
Madison
All right. So for Space Mountain, ignoring the fact I’ve been lost on it and that I have that traumatic experience to go off of it, the ride itself, I’ll give it an eight out of ten. It was actually a pretty fun ride. Granted, most of the time I was in anxiety cause going on the ride on my own, especially when I was younger, it’s like, okay, I’m kind of scared.
00:11:38:18 – 00:11:41:28
Madison
And then afterwards, occasionally I’m scared, but you know.
00:11:42:27 – 00:11:49:11
Joseph
So, so for Halloween, the Halloween party, there was a twist to it. So what was the twist and does that affect your rating?
00:11:49:17 – 00:12:14:12
Madison
Okay. So the initial ride is supposed the initial concept of the ride is supposed to be it’s pretty much a dark rollercoaster. You don’t see really much you like there’s a few areas that are lit up like a few scenes and like occasionally you’ll get some visual, but most of the time you don’t see the track. The Halloween twist on it was that every single light was out.
00:12:14:12 – 00:12:41:08
Madison
You were in complete darkness the entire time, unless you were boarding and exiting. Other than that, there was no light on the ride. So you saw nothing. There were no scenes, you saw absolutely nothing. And it was really jarring for me. Like, I wouldn’t like the one light up tunnel wasn’t working. The one scene with the space with the space people you didn’t see, it was pitch darkness and like it needed scarier.
00:12:41:08 – 00:12:53:27
Madison
I will admit like you hear sounds and you don’t know where they’re coming from. And it’s like it is a legitimately kind of scary ride. Like, I know a lot of people might not be scared by that, but I was kind of scared on by it.
00:12:53:28 – 00:12:57:28
Joseph
Does it affect your reading though?
00:12:57:28 – 00:13:21:29
Madison
Probably not, because I know it’s like a special part of it and it’s not like the general ride. What I remember of the General Ride was that it definitely had this really cool ambiance behind it, and it was supposed to be a dark roller coaster. You weren’t supposed to see what was happening. You got a few cool scenes and definitely a cool feeling, and it’s probably got one of the most iconic ride designs out of any of them.
00:13:23:11 – 00:13:40:07
Madison
And I definitely it was definitely one of the more energized roller coasters when I compare to something like Big Thunder Mountain, I realize Big Thunder Mountain isn’t all that much. Like there’s definitely much more of a thrill factor when it comes to Space Mountain than it does with Big Thunder. While Big Thunder certainly has a lot of thrill to it.
00:13:41:05 – 00:13:55:06
Madison
Comparing the rides, Space Mountain certainly has way more like twists and turns, drops and so forth, and it definitely the scarier of the rides and thus the more thrill seeking.
00:13:55:06 – 00:14:10:14
Joseph
All right. I think that’s a good summary. So the last one that we have here is one that you and Mommy have been on, but I have not been all in. That is Tomorrowland Speedway. Why don’t you tell us about that one?
00:14:11:05 – 00:14:45:13
Michelle
So that’s one of the I guess, original rides from the park. And it’s these little cars that you get to ride as long as you’re tall enough to touch the pedal, you can drive the car. It’s on a track. Depending on how busy the park is, will determine how many tracks they have going. When we went, there were just two for the Halloween party, and this was actually the first time that Maddie drove by herself.
00:14:45:13 – 00:14:54:04
Michelle
Usually all the other times that we’ve gone on it, we will ride together and I’ll usually drive. But this was her first driving experience.
00:14:54:06 – 00:14:54:26
Joseph
Wow.
00:14:54:26 – 00:15:25:21
Michelle
So it was kind of kind of cute because it’s one of those where you actually have control of the car. Obviously, you can’t go super fast, but you can go slow depending on how much you press on on the gas. So it’s not like one of those driving where you know, you have no control of the car. So you actually do have control and you can bump, you know, the the median, you know, the the divider that keeps you on the track.
00:15:26:01 – 00:15:33:05
Michelle
You know, you can keep bumping it, you know, back and forth like the steering wheel. So, so yeah, that’s always a fun one.
00:15:33:14 – 00:15:34:26
Joseph
Matty, what are your thoughts on that?
00:15:35:13 – 00:16:01:03
Madison
Oh yeah, I definitely found it to be a fun ride. You got a little more control over it, even though you’re still kind of going, you know, through the same track. But yeah, technically you can have a different time on like how long the ride takes you. Like, you know, depending within a certain time limit, but like it’s not one of those rides that’s the same thing over and over again.
00:16:01:03 – 00:16:03:09
Joseph
So there’s a little dynamic nature time. Yeah. Like.
00:16:03:19 – 00:16:17:19
Michelle
Like the people I was in back of were driving really slow, so I had to go really slow or else I would have crashed into them. Because that’s another thing too, is that, you know, it’s not like a bumper car where, you know, you’re not supposed.
00:16:17:19 – 00:16:18:09
Joseph
To be bumping.
00:16:18:12 – 00:16:26:24
Michelle
Right? So unfortunately, because they were going so slow, I had to go even slower so that I wouldn’t hit them.
00:16:26:24 – 00:16:29:15
Joseph
So it’s not a legitimate race that you can do.
00:16:29:21 – 00:16:31:15
Michelle
Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
00:16:31:21 – 00:16:35:00
Joseph
So it’s more like, you know, this these version of a traffic attraction.
00:16:35:01 – 00:16:44:22
Michelle
Yeah, yeah. It’s like I’d give it a six, you know, it’s one of those. Do I need to go on it. Yeah. If, if the, if the line’s not long. Yeah. We would do it.
00:16:44:23 – 00:16:55:03
Madison
Yeah. I probably go with 6.5. I will give it a bit more credit for being a more unique ride. You don’t really find anything else much like it. So you know.
00:16:55:05 – 00:17:17:08
Joseph
What kind of strikes me as odd is that they’re still using gasoline powered cars for. Yeah. In the in the world of so many go kart places that do electric go kart. Right right. And you’ve got them pumping out fumes constantly here, which always kind of make me scratch my head. So we did have a couple of honorable mentions.
00:17:17:21 – 00:17:31:10
Joseph
We’re kind of up on the clock for the segment here, so let’s run through these real quick. So we have the monsters left for now. I’ve sat through that. I think it’s cute. I love the air conditioning in there.
00:17:31:12 – 00:17:33:07
Madison
Of course.
00:17:33:07 – 00:17:42:15
Joseph
I’d give it probably a four because it’s really not a lot. There’s a dynamic nature to it, but it’s just not one that’s particularly appealing to me. How would you rate them?
00:17:42:21 – 00:18:06:21
Michelle
I’d probably give it a six because it is interactive. So, you know, most of the jokes kind of change and there is some actual interaction with guests that are there and the monsters that are up on the screen. Plus, it looks really you know, they kind of make it look like a nightclub when you go in because you’re sitting in rows.
00:18:06:21 – 00:18:16:00
Michelle
But then they have, you know, like almost like tables with like little lights on it, you know, but with no drink. WAITRESS You know.
00:18:16:03 – 00:18:33:21
Madison
MADISON I’d probably go in the middle between you two and pick a five. It’s certainly not something that I would like normally go on, but I do like the concept of it. It is more interactive and you know, it’s one of those things where it’s like if it’s there, you get the air conditioning for that’s kind of right.
00:18:34:11 – 00:18:57:05
Joseph
And then there’s my favorite ride in Tomorrowland, and that is Walt Disney’s Carousel of Air Conditioning. I mean, Progress, which is a classic from the world’s fair bearer of Disney. Yep. Which they’ve updated. We didn’t get to see it this time because we got there in time before it got shut down. This one just for nostalgic purposes. I’d give this 1a6 myself.
00:18:57:05 – 00:19:15:05
Joseph
But the unique thing about this is you get to see multiple different staged scenes of all of your animatronics without having to get up and move, because the audience actually moves around the stage. So I’d give that a six. What would you give that one? Which I would.
00:19:15:05 – 00:19:16:02
Michelle
Actually give it a ten.
00:19:16:15 – 00:19:20:06
Joseph
Wow. It’s nostalgia ratings element. Yeah.
00:19:20:06 – 00:19:55:17
Michelle
Yeah. Because of it. The, the whole uniqueness behind it again that, you know, the idea was we’re going to build these four different scenes, you know, from four different decades. And, you know, the audience is going to rotate around it. So, you know, it was something completely different that, you know, hadn’t been done before. And the fact that they can still modernize it and keep the story going, you know, where obviously things from the past.
00:19:55:17 – 00:20:16:28
Michelle
It’s interesting to see that. It’s interesting, you know, to take your kids and go, yeah, grandma had one of those or or if you’re going with that grandmother, like, yeah, I grew up with that. And to see what was considered modern, how, you know, it’s, it’s not as modern as it is now. So, so yeah, I would definitely give it give it a higher.
00:20:16:28 – 00:20:19:00
Joseph
Score or Madison.
00:20:19:00 – 00:20:22:05
Madison
I’ll probably give it a 7.5 to 8 out of ten because.
00:20:22:24 – 00:20:24:02
Joseph
It’s complicated.
00:20:24:16 – 00:20:55:11
Madison
Well I really do like the ride. I always found. Like I really liked how like the various kitchen stuff would in Iraq. I really like the animatronics and how they’d interact and the really cool way that they move us around to the different areas. And I did always, even though it was the same thing over and over, I still like to hear what was modern of the time and honestly, like I really liked like the various people talking about all these modern stuff that was modern back then.
00:20:55:11 – 00:21:04:22
Madison
The future scene’s always really fun to see, and honestly, it was always like one of the air conditioned areas that I really like going to carousel work.
00:21:04:22 – 00:21:05:00
Joseph
And it was.
00:21:05:05 – 00:21:06:26
Michelle
Very big on air conditioning.
00:21:06:26 – 00:21:22:06
Joseph
Yeah. Oh, okay. I think that’s all we had. There’s one more. There is. We’re running short on time. We’ll, we’ll throw it out there. Tomorrowland, Marlin Transit Authority. People will say, well, let’s talk about it. You want to talk about it? What book about.
00:21:22:06 – 00:21:25:00
Michelle
It? It’s not my podcast. I’m just saying you had another ride.
00:21:25:00 – 00:21:29:08
Joseph
Two people won’t give me here. You want to talk about it? Give me your thoughts on people.
00:21:30:05 – 00:21:41:13
Michelle
It’s a wonderful ride to go and relax and just enjoy and take a little tour of Tomorrowland, because that’s the only way I’ve ever gone on space now.
00:21:42:03 – 00:21:44:12
Joseph
So how would you rate it? I’d give it.
00:21:44:12 – 00:21:45:22
Michelle
A seven.
00:21:45:28 – 00:21:47:04
Joseph
Or eight. Matty.
00:21:47:04 – 00:21:52:04
Madison
I’ll give it a nine. I actually really like it. And honestly, it’s a really nice way to move around.
00:21:52:04 – 00:21:54:20
Joseph
And and wind up in the same spot and.
00:21:54:20 – 00:21:56:25
Madison
Wind up in the same thing.
00:21:56:25 – 00:22:25:24
Joseph
It’s not the most efficient way of moving, but I’d give it a seven. It’s a great chance to cool off even though you’re not in air conditioning the whole time. Yeah, you’re moving and you can give it a little quick tour of Tomorrowland, which I think is is kind of interesting and listening to the announcers and some of the kitschy theme stuff that they do there, I think it’s again, it’s one of those nostalgia ones that you have to do.
00:22:25:24 – 00:23:08:04
Joseph
So that was all we have for Tomorrowland. We’re going to take a quick break and we’ll be back to talk about fantasy, land and more. We’ll be right back. 00:23:44:12 – 00:24:07:13
Joseph
Welcome back to INSIGHT to the team this week we are recapping our trip to Disney and ranking rides in Magic Kingdom. Now we’re going to talk about fantasy I mean, fantasy land. The first one that we have in here is one that I think everybody knows, loves and can’t get the damn tune out of everybody. And that is it’s a small world.
00:24:07:16 – 00:24:31:15
Joseph
Now, I’ll go first on this and say I avoid this whenever possible and I manage to not go on it this time around. I know people love it for the nostalgia. It’s just a little too creepy for me. And that song is like fingernails on a blackboard. I would give this 1a3. Madison, what’s your rating?
00:24:32:11 – 00:24:49:28
Madison
I’d probably give it an eight. Well, I’m not annoyed by the ride as you are. I will admit the song is an earworm. It’s one of those songs you can never get out of your head as soon as it’s mentioned. So let me sing it now.
00:24:49:28 – 00:24:50:21
Joseph
I’m not going to do that.
00:24:52:19 – 00:25:11:19
Madison
I like the ride. It’s a cute ride to get a bunch of rivers and from a lot of different areas, and it’s really nice to see the different cultures. It’s cool to hear the song in different languages and there are some really cute scenes that I look forward to seeing.
00:25:12:04 – 00:25:14:11
Joseph
Okay, Michelle.
00:25:14:23 – 00:25:16:28
Michelle
I will give it an eight in Portugal.
00:25:18:01 – 00:25:23:25
Joseph
And why is that it justify that ave for the same.
00:25:23:25 – 00:25:58:18
Michelle
Reason it’s it’s the nostalgia part of it I think as well hearing the song in the different languages, it’s a very you know, it’s one of those things that’s kind of timeless in a way. So, yes, it’s it’s can be an annoying song hearing it over and over again. But the message behind it about how it is a small world, after all, and showing that no matter what your background is, we can all have fun together and enjoy ourselves.
00:25:58:18 – 00:26:00:20
Michelle
Is, is the message behind it?
00:26:02:18 – 00:26:31:12
Joseph
Thanks. Next up is the 90 minute week Peter Pans flight. I’ve been on this. I love this ride. I think it’s cool. It’s a hanging coaster ride. You get to fly over London. It’s a really cool concept. It’s not worth the wait. Even the lightning wings. We were there at the end of the day and lightning only had a 20 minute wait there just to get on this ride.
00:26:32:03 – 00:26:48:27
Joseph
And the ride’s literally like 2 minutes. It’s one of the shortest rides in the park. It’s not that unique. I would give this one for because of how long the wait is. And if you’re burning a lightning lead to get on this, it’s a waste of a lightning pass, in my opinion.
00:26:50:08 – 00:27:34:05
Michelle
Michelle I’d give it a nine, unfortunately. While I agree, we never I have never waited more than 15, 20 minutes to get on it. I think that’s the sad part of the ride is that there are people that will wait, you know, an hour, you know, 45 minutes to go on such a short ride. And that’s one where if it was a little bit longer of a ride, but it’s just again, it’s a neat concept because most rides you’re on the ground and this one you’re actually hanging as you’re, you know, going through and seeing everything.
00:27:34:05 – 00:27:36:22
Michelle
So that’s why I give it a higher score.
00:27:36:23 – 00:27:39:04
Joseph
Okay, perfectly fine, Madison.
00:27:39:22 – 00:27:40:24
Madison
I’m going to give it a seven.
00:27:42:00 – 00:27:43:10
Joseph
The more realistic. Okay.
00:27:44:01 – 00:28:05:10
Madison
It is a nice ride that it is a hanging ride. And it’s not like you’re on an actual track most of the time. So I will give it that. The wait time, obviously deteriorates from it and the fact that it is such a short ride. But I do like seeing the various scenes. You get different perspectives in certain instances you’re basically the same scale as all of the characters.
00:28:05:10 – 00:28:28:10
Madison
In other instances, you’re literally over top of a very small London. So I do like the differences in perspective when it comes to that. However, do I think it’s worth the wait time? Most of the time, no. It’s certainly not a ride that I would go on while waiting in that long line because I definitely do not think it’s worth it.
00:28:29:12 – 00:28:36:27
Madison
But for what the ride is, it’s really cute. Can I justify the wait time? No. But is it a unique ride? Yes.
00:28:37:04 – 00:29:01:03
Joseph
Okay, very well thought out. So the next one that we have is another one that only Madison has gone on. And that’s the relatively new roller coaster, seven doors, mind train. Tell us about that one, because you go on in this one repeatedly in a row as you burned our face in the pants. Yeah. So clearly you have an affinity for this ride.
00:29:01:03 – 00:29:23:12
Madison
Yeah, I definitely find this ride to be very interesting. It’s definitely a very interesting roller coaster because there’s certain areas where there’s actual scenes that are played out. There’s one more you’re in the mines and like they’re like an audio animatronics and it kind of stops for a bit. And like then after when it’s time for them to all go, that’s when the ride starts to pick up.
00:29:23:22 – 00:29:45:22
Madison
I definitely find the esthetic of it really cool because when you’re walking through like the longer lines, there’s like interactive areas, which is really cute. I like the cart style. It’s a really nice esthetic and it’s also one of the more fun roller coasters you get. Like more drops, definitely one more fast paced. But then there’s moments where you do get, you know, to slow down and see the scenes.
00:29:45:22 – 00:29:52:11
Madison
And I appreciate the audio animatronics, so I’ll give it I’ll give them an 8.5.
00:29:52:13 – 00:30:12:18
Joseph
Okay. Yeah, I think that’s a very well thought out, very well-reasoned answer on the next one we’ve all been on and that’s the many adventures of Winnie the Pooh. And I will the only thing I will say here, I’ll give this a actually, I’ll give this a seven because I think it’s a cool ride at the fun ride, especially if you’re a fan of Winnie the Pooh.
00:30:13:09 – 00:30:21:09
Joseph
If you have a bad back, the Tigger section is not your friend, and I’ll just leave it at that. Michelle, what are your thoughts?
00:30:21:09 – 00:31:10:01
Michelle
I would give it an eight because it’s it’s a unique variation of the the classic dark ride. What is kind of cool is you go through different scenes throughout the Winnie the Pooh story with different characters, and each scene kind of takes on a a whole different theming and even your ride takes upon that theming as well. So to kind of mention about, you know, the Tigger, there’s a scene with rain that’s very cleverly done with to to to portray that while not actually having any water at all, you know, in the ride.
00:31:11:05 – 00:31:11:22
Joseph
Madison.
00:31:12:02 – 00:31:41:21
Madison
I’ll actually give a line. My main reasoning being, again, like you said, it’s a very unique dark ride. Not only is it like very uniquely styled, you have various things that are 2D, three dimensional, all digitally animated. Like there’s a lot to appreciate in the ride because there’s like such a diverse amount of, Oh, well, this is 2D, we got 3D animatronics, we’ve got certain areas that are animated and such and like I really enjoyed that aspect of it.
00:31:42:12 – 00:32:01:17
Madison
And also I oh on the better judgment of your back, I do like they there are certain instances where you’re like motion changes. You’re kind of jumping in the Tigger scene, like you’re kind of moving in different areas and it’s not just a straight regular ride. You feel during the rain scene, you start to feel like you’re floating.
00:32:01:17 – 00:32:11:15
Madison
It’s like it definitely tries to play with you’re with the motion a bit more, and I do like the interactive stuff that they have during the wait time. I think that’s a really cute area. So nine.
00:32:12:00 – 00:32:14:05
Michelle
I do miss Mr. Toad’s Wild.
00:32:14:05 – 00:32:18:02
Joseph
Ride to say got to go to California I know well and we did.
00:32:18:03 – 00:32:18:19
Michelle
And we did.
00:32:19:03 – 00:32:28:05
Joseph
So next up we have undersea undersea journey of The Little Mermaid. And I have. I’ve been on this almost.
00:32:28:13 – 00:32:30:11
Michelle
Yeah, you have. You just don’t.
00:32:30:20 – 00:32:35:09
Joseph
So I can’t read it because I don’t actually remember it. So, Michelle, why don’t you give us your.
00:32:36:00 – 00:33:05:18
Michelle
I would give it an eight. It’s a a more modern take on the dark ride and since it was built into a brand new area of fantasy land, they were actually able to make it a longer ride. The problem that you have with like Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan is that it’s a short ride because of the way they built it.
00:33:05:23 – 00:33:10:14
Michelle
You know, they’ve never been able to really expand it to make it a longer ride. Whereas with.
00:33:10:22 – 00:33:10:27
Joseph
The.
00:33:10:27 – 00:33:26:05
Michelle
Little Mermaid, it’s the same concept of basically telling the story of the movie. But it’s longer, so it doesn’t go by as quick as some of the other ones. So I would give it an eight.
00:33:26:10 – 00:33:28:09
Joseph
Okay. And Madison.
00:33:28:16 – 00:33:52:24
Madison
I probably do the same thing. I’d given an eight. It is definitely a way longer dark ride and it’s certainly way more unique and bright and colorful compared to most dark rides. So I can definitely give it that aspect. It reminds me a lot of Winnie the Pooh, except I gave one of the pool a bit of a higher score because it had more unique stuff in it, like 2D and 3D digital animation, as well as the moving cart with the shell.
00:33:52:25 – 00:34:07:06
Madison
You’re kind of doing the same motion you have, like the different animatronics and such. And my favorite scene under the sea part, that’s like a really big and open area, but I definitely think it deserves an A compared to what I gave them.
00:34:07:21 – 00:34:32:02
Joseph
Okay. I think that’s a good review. So I did take the Liberty and broke out the next two from fantasy land to really what’s a subsection of the area that the storybook circus area there, which is a whole nother area that you can explore through fantasyland. There’s two rides there. One is Dumbo, the flying elephant, which I had gone on ages ago before they redid it.
00:34:33:13 – 00:34:51:20
Joseph
But it’s the same ride. But I will give my $0.02 on the redo where they put a second one in. My biggest complaint is how long the wait was versus how long the ride was. They obviously mitigated a lot of that by putting a second ride in, so they’ve literally got two sets of the same ride there with.
00:34:51:20 – 00:35:20:04
Joseph
The biggest thing for me was they put the circus tents in where you come in now, you get a reservation, you get a little buzzer like it’s a budget that you get from a restaurant and there’s a play area for the kids. It’s air conditioned and the parents can go in there and wait with the kids and the kids can have fun and fill up your turn, which, you know, I think Disney for the fact that they don’t lower the wait times on the rides, they just try to make waiting less painful.
00:35:20:18 – 00:35:38:13
Joseph
And this was one of the most successful ways of them doing that. So I’d actually give the ride a six. The ride itself is, you know, the standard ride about up and down type rides or the rides not thrilling. The overall experience I think is and it’s a great way of handling those ways.
00:35:38:13 – 00:36:06:09
Michelle
Michelle I would probably give it a six as well for the same thing. You know, it was definitely interesting them changing it up, adding the second one because they always knew, you know, and I think the biggest thing was people were waiting to go on it because of the nostalgia of it, because you can basically go to any amusement park or any, you know, carnival and go on something like that.
00:36:06:17 – 00:36:30:04
Michelle
But it’s Dumbo. And, you know, when they added the whole tent and the waiting, you know what? I rather have my little kid running around and waiting and burning off energy than, you know, standing in a line. And that’s where I think the difference is, is. Yeah. So some of these cues have things for you to play as you’re still waiting in the line here.
00:36:30:04 – 00:36:36:23
Michelle
You don’t feel like you’re waiting in the line. So it’s it’s a little different. It’s almost like having a virtual queue really.
00:36:36:24 – 00:36:37:19
Joseph
Yeah, it was.
00:36:37:19 – 00:36:39:25
Michelle
Kind of the first version of it.
00:36:39:25 – 00:36:41:12
Joseph
So yeah, I like that.
00:36:42:02 – 00:36:46:11
Madison
Yeah. I also rounded off from Just Say Six while the ride certainly isn’t thrilling.
00:36:46:11 – 00:36:51:21
Joseph
So this is the Satanic Ride then? Six six is up.
00:36:53:22 – 00:37:13:03
Madison
So yeah, I would definitely give it a six just because the ride isn’t necessarily thrilling, but the wait time is certainly one of the more unique wait times. And again, it doesn’t feel like you’re actually waiting. The ride itself is really just generic, kind of like any other ride of itself. But with the wait time it’s a better experience.
00:37:13:03 – 00:37:30:22
Joseph
So yeah, I like that. So the last one that we have in our Premier Rides, I guess we’ll call is the Barnstormer, which is a roller coaster which is only one of two roller coasters that I’ve ridden, that Disney World. The other one we didn’t realize was a.
00:37:31:05 – 00:37:31:15
Michelle
Oh.
00:37:31:15 – 00:37:57:15
Joseph
Right, right. We’ll get into that one later. Okay. So I’ve ridden the Barnstormer several times actually with you and we’ve seen one single smaller. I will rate it from the perspective of a person of size. It’s a fun roller coaster. It’s not very comfortable for someone and then I’m saying, you know, someone who’s large but someone who’s tall, it does not accommodate somebody with long legs very well.
00:37:58:17 – 00:38:11:08
Joseph
So it’s a quick roller coaster, but it’s a fun one. I’d give it a seven. It’s one of my favorite thrill rides, I think that I go on there. So that’s my take on that one. What’s your take?
00:38:12:07 – 00:38:15:09
Michelle
It’s my only roller coaster, kind of that. I go.
00:38:15:17 – 00:38:16:05
Joseph
Yeah.
00:38:17:28 – 00:38:20:14
Madison
Yeah. It’s the only one I could convince you to actually go and.
00:38:20:14 – 00:38:45:15
Michelle
And then it took a lot to get me on it. You know, I am so not a fan of roller coasters and you know, here’s a a teaser. When we get to Epcot and we talk about test track, it took me three years to convince myself to get on test tracks. So you think you’re probably took me just as long to get on, you know, Barnstormers.
00:38:45:15 – 00:38:48:27
Michelle
So since you would go on with the kids, it was like, Oh, this is for you.
00:38:48:29 – 00:38:50:18
Joseph
I’m here. I hold the stuff.
00:38:51:17 – 00:39:15:28
Michelle
So for, you know, for me not being a roller coaster person, you know, it’s fun. You know, I can I, I can handle it. And I scream just as much, you know, each time. And I’ve gone on it multiple times, you know, in a night. So I’d give it an eight because, you know, and I agree, it’s definitely a kid roller coaster.
00:39:15:28 – 00:39:28:11
Michelle
So I think that’s why taller people have issues with it because it’s really not meant for the bigger kids. But it’s nice that adults can at least go on it, you know, with their kids, though.
00:39:28:11 – 00:39:45:21
Madison
And you I’ll probably give it an eight as well. I give it an eight mainly because I kind of like the feeling like there’s a certain area where you go up and you go through like this one thing. Basically the entire concept is just like Goofy is supposed to be like this circus guy and he like does a bunch of stuff.
00:39:45:29 – 00:39:51:00
Madison
You see a bunch of stuff in the queue where it’s like, he’s failed at something or he’s tried something.
00:39:51:00 – 00:40:09:18
Joseph
And just as a barnstormer, he’s, he’s supposed to be like a 1920s, you know, stunt flier type thing. And the roller coaster itself is thin. Then, in fact, you can sit under the wing, which I did the one time, and that didn’t work out through. All right, then and now. Yeah, I wouldn’t recommend doing that. If you’re tall, sit somewhere else.
00:40:10:29 – 00:40:21:09
Madison
So yeah, I’ll give it an eight. While it’s definitely not a thrilling roller coaster, I do love the seaming of it, and it’s the only roller coaster you’ve ever really been on. So I appreciate that aspect of it.
00:40:21:09 – 00:40:42:10
Joseph
All right. So our honorable mentions, we have three honorable mentions for fantasy land. We’ve got Mickey’s fill of our magic, which, again, you know, it’s a great air conditioned ride. I never like to queue because they wind up packing. You in there like cattle. And it takes so long for the next show because we’ll start packing you in.
00:40:42:20 – 00:40:44:08
Joseph
Yeah, you get a 20 minute wait.
00:40:44:08 – 00:41:07:16
Michelle
I don’t understand why they have the queue. The way they do because especially if not to go off on a tangent, but especially when you don’t have a long line. There’s, you know, in most cases they kind of rope things off so that you just do half the line. That one, there’s no way to cut it. So you’re still going in and out.
00:41:07:16 – 00:41:30:14
Joseph
And you know exactly how long the wait is. It’s always the same amount of time unless something breaks with the show, right? So I’d give this 1a5. It’s not one of those ones that I look to see over and over again. I’ve probably seen it a half dozen times. It’s a four day ride, you know. They do the blowing stuff in your face and the smoke and you know, it’s not a ride.
00:41:30:14 – 00:41:31:05
Michelle
It’s moving.
00:41:31:06 – 00:41:43:11
Joseph
Right? It’s a move, but it’s a4d movie that they do. That’s a great break. If you just need some place to cool off and relax for a little bit and watch a movie we’ve done with it, the score is awesome. You know, the music that’s in there and.
00:41:43:12 – 00:41:56:12
Michelle
Unfortunately they have added a couple of scenes since we’ve seen it, so we haven’t actually seen it with the new enhanced, you know, scene. So it is something that at least they’re updating right, as you know.
00:41:56:18 – 00:41:58:22
Joseph
So five for me, Madison.
00:41:58:27 – 00:42:07:26
Madison
I’ll probably go with a six. I definitely liked the 3D 4D aspect to it. I always found it to be a fun ride well.
00:42:08:12 – 00:42:09:23
Joseph
In advance.
00:42:09:23 – 00:42:15:25
Madison
Of attraction for what it was. I wasn’t one that I’d go on constantly. Obviously, so.
00:42:16:24 – 00:42:40:28
Joseph
Yeah. Okay. Six. Okay. I think we’re all on the same page. Their next honorable mention we have is Prince Charming as regal, which by the way, hails from New Jersey and I’ve never actually been on it all the time that I’ve been there. I’ve never been on the carousel, no air conditioning, no. Not much appeal for me. Madison, you’ve been on it.
00:42:41:10 – 00:42:42:01
Joseph
What are your thoughts?
00:42:42:09 – 00:42:59:14
Madison
I don’t know if I entirely remember it, but I guess I’ll give it a four, mainly because it’s the carousel. I don’t know if there’s really much else to it. You get like the sort of the stone, but it’s like it’s really just one of those regular. I don’t know if there’s nostalgia attached to it. I don’t find nostalgia attached to it.
00:42:59:14 – 00:43:00:26
Madison
It’s one of those, right? I really don’t.
00:43:01:08 – 00:43:01:24
Joseph
Okay.
00:43:03:10 – 00:43:38:14
Michelle
Michelle, I probably give it a five, you know, just because probably one of the best up kept carousels versus, you know, if you go to, you know, other theme parks or, you know, carnivals or things like that, they take pride in in their horses. They, you know, take them down and will, you know, refurbish them and repaint them and and, you know, again, if you do research, you know, almost every horse has some sort of back story about it, the design of who it’s named after and things like that.
00:43:38:14 – 00:43:55:06
Joseph
So yeah, sounds good. And the last honorable mention is another one that I haven’t been on, and that’s the mad Tea Party tea cup. You didn’t go on that note. There were no thoughts.
00:43:55:06 – 00:44:05:15
Madison
I guess I’ll give it a six. It’s kind of cool. One of the cooler spinning rides. Not one that I’d really go on all that much, but you know, it’s called theming.
00:44:05:24 – 00:44:06:09
Joseph
Okay.
00:44:06:20 – 00:44:14:16
Michelle
I’d give it a five. It’s, you know, your typical tea cup spinning. There’s nothing really, you know, different but the.
00:44:14:16 – 00:44:18:00
Joseph
The, you’re certainly not selling it and make me go on with this one.
00:44:18:00 – 00:44:31:21
Michelle
Well I don’t like spinning rides so. Yeah, you know I the memory I have is, you know, my dad trying not to spin it and he ends up spinning it more so that just kind of, you know, killed it.
00:44:32:15 – 00:44:54:18
Joseph
Yeah. All right. So that’s all we have for our Fantasy Land segment. We’re going to be right back and take another quick break. We’re moving on to adventure land, frontier land and our ever popular Liberty Square. We’ll be right back.
00:44:54:18 – 00:45:25:20
Michelle

00:45:56:27 – 00:46:29:24
Joseph
Welcome back to INSIGHT into teens. We are ranking magic Kingdom rides today and next up is Adventure Land, where a couple of our biggest rides are that we like. First up is Jungle Cruise, and if you love cheesy jokes and bad jokes, then Jungle Cruise is for you. I actually would give you because there’s nothing thrilling about the Jungle Cruise, although there’s a couple of build up in certain areas there where you anticipate something and then you don’t get it, but you can’t really ask for anything cooler than the backside of water though.
00:46:29:25 – 00:46:30:22
Madison
I know, right?
00:46:31:29 – 00:46:39:27
Joseph
Exactly. I would give the jungle cruise. It’s one of my favorite rides in the park, Michel.
00:46:39:27 – 00:46:41:02
Michelle
I would give it a ten.
00:46:41:13 – 00:46:49:17
Joseph
Of course, you. So you can’t get anything better. Like ten to me is like the absolute best that there’s nothing better.
00:46:49:18 – 00:47:19:06
Michelle
Well, and what I enjoy about it is that it’s ever changing. Like, obviously they’re always going to keep the backside of water joke in, but every now and then there’s a new joke that kind of pops in. And that’s what I enjoy about it, because it is a little bit different from time to time. They did recently update a bunch of the scenes, so that was kind of neat to see that difference when we went, you know, this last time.
00:47:19:13 – 00:47:33:18
Michelle
So and again, a part of the scoring is also the nostalgia behind it. It’s, you know, one of the original rides, it’s still there, it’s still relevant. And the jokes kind of keep changing on it.
00:47:33:18 – 00:47:35:02
Joseph
So kind of grow on you. Yeah.
00:47:35:20 – 00:47:36:05
Michelle
Like a song.
00:47:36:05 – 00:47:36:27
Madison
Like Moss.
00:47:38:02 – 00:47:38:26
Joseph
Madison.
00:47:39:11 – 00:47:58:03
Madison
I’m going to give it a nine. I definitely really like the ride. It’s definitely one of the ones where it’s like it’s slowly. It’s definitely one of the ones where it’s really kind of fun because you actually get like the cast member interaction. The back side of what is obviously going to be like the most was the most amazing thing ever.
00:47:59:07 – 00:48:15:23
Madison
The last time we were on it, they definitely did. Changing the scene there were certainly some more new jokes and really I like the esthetic of it. It’s really not. It’s a water ride, but you’re not going to really get much of anything like it. So.
00:48:15:23 – 00:48:37:22
Joseph
All right. So the next one we have, it’s not is one you don’t always go on. It’s another spinny lift. You ride the magic carpets of Aladdin. That’s when I’ve not been on the tour. You didn’t get a chance to go on it at the tail end of our stay on Friday. What are your thoughts on. Oh, I would give it a six.
00:48:38:24 – 00:49:07:20
Michelle
You know, again, it’s your typical up and down ride. But what’s kind of interesting is the person that’s in the front controls the up and down and the person in the back can actually make your carpet, you know, pitch forward and backward. Unfortunately, because of where it’s situated, when you do get up high, you’re not really getting as nice of a view of the park as you do with the Astro Orbiter.
00:49:08:13 – 00:49:21:10
Michelle
But it’s it’s one of those, hey, if the line is short enough, let’s go on it. And that’s what happened. You know, when we were at the party, the party was literally ending and they were like, Let’s call. And we got on it.
00:49:21:10 – 00:49:39:07
Madison
So yeah, I’d probably give it a six as well, mainly for that extra mechanic of one person can control going up and down and the other person going into it. You guys, the online, unlike with the others, the queue really isn’t all that unique. It’s really just a bunch of bars. But there is a camel, just.
00:49:39:07 – 00:49:42:07
Joseph
A bunch of bar, but not alcohol bars.
00:49:42:07 – 00:49:43:04
Madison
So no.
00:49:43:05 – 00:49:44:13
Michelle
Not prison bars.
00:49:44:25 – 00:49:46:16
Madison
Just like general metal bars.
00:49:46:18 – 00:49:47:04
Joseph
Like a fence.
00:49:47:04 – 00:49:51:21
Michelle
Just a regular, you know? Yeah, there’s not as much theming to it, but.
00:49:51:21 – 00:49:54:06
Madison
You got a camel spitting at you, so you got.
00:49:54:06 – 00:49:56:09
Joseph
That teeth that go wrong.
00:49:56:09 – 00:49:56:21
Michelle
With that.
00:49:56:21 – 00:49:58:17
Madison
No. So, yeah, six.
00:49:59:00 – 00:50:22:18
Joseph
Or eight sounds good. So. And the last one of the premier rides an adventure man is another great ride, another one of our favorites and another one of the originals. And that’s Pirates of the Caribbean, which again, great air conditioned ride for our walk to get there through the inside of the of the queue but it’s you know it’s a water ride.
00:50:22:18 – 00:50:30:11
Joseph
You get in a little drop there you get a lot of theming in there for Halloween. They were doing some characters in the ride.
00:50:30:12 – 00:50:47:17
Michelle
And they actually had live actors situated throughout the queue as well as on the ride interacting with you as you kind of went through. And it kind of made you think, you know, they should really do this a little bit more often. Yeah, kind of a neat concept to it.
00:50:47:17 – 00:50:51:01
Joseph
So I’d give it or I’d give it an eight myself. What would you do? You know.
00:50:51:01 – 00:50:51:24
Michelle
What? I’m going to give it.
00:50:51:25 – 00:50:57:27
Joseph
And of course it’s a ten. I’m just glad you’re not going to 11. This is going to be.
00:51:01:19 – 00:51:27:00
Madison
I’d actually give it a ten as well. I really like the theming of the queue. While it certainly is very long, they updated it and it very much gives you the pirate esthetic. While it is a very long ride, like I really you immediately get entrenched in it when you walk into the ride. You got cannons. Yeah. Got like it’s a really like while there’s not like activities to do, it’s really amazing the just look at it.
00:51:27:00 – 00:51:29:04
Michelle
It’s almost like walking through a museum. Yeah.
00:51:29:06 – 00:51:33:06
Joseph
You’re you’re literally walking through a recreation of a Spanish fort. It’s really.
00:51:33:08 – 00:51:52:17
Madison
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I definitely like obviously the ride itself. You got like a really key the previous setting in the beginning you get the drop and then you start finally getting into the pirate areas, your objects. There you have the various scenes that are all that were altered and.
00:51:52:17 – 00:51:54:19
Michelle
Then people are still bitter about the red head.
00:51:54:19 – 00:51:56:24
Joseph
So that took it over. Yeah.
00:51:57:02 – 00:51:57:21
Michelle
Eventually.
00:51:58:08 – 00:52:19:14
Joseph
But yeah. Okay. So and we’re going to hold off all of our honorable mentions for all these different areas until the end of this segment. So there are some for eventually. Next, we’re going to move on to front here land. So Frontier Land has one that Mattie only has going on and that is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Would you go along quite frequently?
00:52:19:14 – 00:52:20:12
Joseph
What are your thoughts on that?
00:52:21:24 – 00:52:34:15
Madison
I will say I do like the theming of it, especially in the Q like you get a really cool minor static. There’s a lot of various signage that you can read when you go on, like the longer wait times.
00:52:34:15 – 00:52:37:12
Michelle
Maybe one day she’ll actually take pictures for us or video.
00:52:37:28 – 00:52:39:04
Joseph
What a novel idea.
00:52:39:04 – 00:53:03:27
Madison
Okay, fine. I’ll do that next time. All right. But yeah, there’s a really cool esthetic to it. You’re actually in a legitimate terrain. It’s not really like your typical roller coaster looking thing. It’s supposed to be this runaway train, unlike the one in Hollywood studios. We’re not going to worry about that. But it’s a really cool one. There’s like parts where you’re outside, parts where you’re inside.
00:53:03:27 – 00:53:23:20
Madison
There’s like this really cool cavern which was supposed to, I think, be like a memorial to the original ride that was there, which was a lot slower train ride to like Rainbow Caverns and things like that. So there’s like some parts of that too. It’s certainly not as thrilling of a roller coaster as some of the other ones are.
00:53:23:20 – 00:53:25:15
Madison
Like I mentioned the Space Mountain earlier.
00:53:27:04 – 00:53:27:20
Joseph
But it’s still.
00:53:27:20 – 00:53:42:09
Madison
One that I really like to go on purely for the esthetic and that it is still like a really fun roller coaster, but it’s definitely a little more tame. It’s really in between the intensity of Barnstormer and Space Mountain.
00:53:42:09 – 00:53:42:25
Joseph
Okay.
00:53:43:04 – 00:53:45:21
Michelle
So, so maybe one day I’ll get on it.
00:53:45:22 – 00:53:47:08
Joseph
Maybe one day. One day.
00:53:47:28 – 00:53:49:18
Madison
I’ll give it a 7.5.
00:53:49:20 – 00:54:06:05
Joseph
Oh. Okay. So the next ride is one that I like to refer to as Extortion Mountain. It’s actually Splash Mountain, but we extorted Mommy several times to get her to start going on it and shame her into it. Because we all remember the first time that we took Mommy on.
00:54:06:05 – 00:54:08:20
Madison
That was the first time all three of us tried.
00:54:08:25 – 00:54:11:24
Michelle
But that wasn’t my first time on. It had.
00:54:12:03 – 00:54:12:24
Joseph
Arches.
00:54:13:09 – 00:54:16:00
Michelle
On it, but I had such a traumatic experience.
00:54:16:00 – 00:54:23:12
Joseph
I didn’t want to go. All right. So it wasn’t your first time, one of the because you were going to wind up sitting in the front because.
00:54:25:01 – 00:54:25:28
Michelle
You were there.
00:54:25:28 – 00:54:33:02
Madison
It was our first time going on it, right? It was like your second. And as soon as you saw that we were in the front yard, you’re like, Nope, we’re out.
00:54:33:04 – 00:54:56:21
Joseph
Yeah. And then you. I actually went on it. We sat in the front, which didn’t work out very well because being a person of size myself and not being a small for you seven at the time, maybe where we did it, the lap bar did not really secure you very well because it still doesn’t. So I was terrified that you’d be coming out there.
00:54:56:21 – 00:55:24:27
Joseph
So I was very cautious in making sure I was holding you tight next to me behind. I love it. It’s probably one of the longest rides in the park itself, which can almost justify the weight that it has because it’s always got a long wait. I would give this 1a9 just for screaming for air conditioning, because you do go through an air conditioned area there and the drop, you can’t beat that drop at the end.
00:55:24:27 – 00:55:29:00
Joseph
That’s literally the most thrilling ride, I think, in Disney because of that drive.
00:55:30:20 – 00:55:33:08
Michelle
Michelle I would probably give it a nine as well.
00:55:33:23 – 00:55:39:10
Joseph
Not a ten, no cuts. Terrell Because of the emotional distress.
00:55:40:12 – 00:55:50:23
Michelle
Like I really have to work myself up to it even though I’ve been on it numerous times now and you know, I know what’s going to happen so.
00:55:51:04 – 00:56:01:04
Joseph
Well, that last drop, the worst part is it’s like, yeah, you know, it’s coming because it is this incredibly long incline up to it. So it’s not like a level.
00:56:01:15 – 00:56:06:09
Michelle
Right? Like the vultures are talking to you, like teasing you and you’re like, I’m going to.
00:56:06:09 – 00:56:07:19
Joseph
Die like this.
00:56:08:27 – 00:56:29:20
Michelle
And I kept, you know, I think the first time I went on it, I kept thinking to myself, I fly on planes, I go through turbulence. And, you know, it takes longer to, you know, this is going to be over in 3 seconds. You know, you’ll be fine. One, two, three. Why is this taking so long? And, you know, and then you’re like, all right, I’m good.
00:56:30:05 – 00:56:32:09
Michelle
Hold let me clear off my glasses now because I can’t.
00:56:32:09 – 00:56:35:12
Joseph
See, you know, so nine, nine. And for you, I’ll.
00:56:35:12 – 00:56:38:28
Madison
Also give it a nine. It’s the reverse devil.
00:56:39:09 – 00:56:42:04
Joseph
The reverse devil wear the upside down devil.
00:56:42:15 – 00:56:58:23
Madison
I really do like it. It’s certainly a very unique ride. It’s a it’s the only log flume technically in Disney. My only reason for putting it lower is just that anxiety that you feel, you know, that the drop is because.
00:56:59:03 – 00:57:00:05
Joseph
I mean, such a good.
00:57:00:05 – 00:57:02:08
Madison
Ride. Yeah. That’s what makes it such a good.
00:57:02:08 – 00:57:06:04
Joseph
Because, you know, it’s there. You’ve done it multiple times and it’s still that.
00:57:06:15 – 00:57:12:12
Michelle
And as soon as you get over it, it’s this lady chill.
00:57:12:12 – 00:57:21:18
Madison
You don’t even worry about it afterwards. It’s like the majority of the ride. You’re, you know, it’s coming because it’s advertised much. You’ve been on a multiple, you will.
00:57:21:18 – 00:57:22:11
Michelle
Get wet.
00:57:23:03 – 00:57:28:11
Madison
That other stuff, you see all the exits and it’s like, Oh my God. And then.
00:57:28:11 – 00:57:29:01
Joseph
You get doing.
00:57:29:01 – 00:57:29:10
Michelle
This.
00:57:29:10 – 00:57:45:00
Madison
And then like you just feel that anxiety constantly throughout the entire ride. And then immediately when you get to the Virgin, it’s like, Oh my God, this is it. I can’t go back now. And then you just go all the way up and then you finally drop down and like, you’re screaming. And then afterwards it’s just like, Oh, you got a chill.
00:57:45:00 – 00:57:47:07
Madison
You got a little, little drop there. But then that’s.
00:57:49:11 – 00:57:51:00
Michelle
Yeah. Now you laugh.
00:57:52:10 – 00:57:55:27
Joseph
I remember. Got the one time we got a picture it.
00:57:55:27 – 00:58:16:20
Michelle
Will be interesting to see because they are receiving it for Princess and the Frog. So it’ll be interesting to see how all of that gets gets redone because obviously the ride is probably still going to be the same. I don’t think they’re going to change how it goes. Right. What will you see and what will you interact with?
00:58:17:12 – 00:58:46:08
Joseph
So we’re actually going to skip our next segment right now and go on to our honorable mentions just so we can get them out of the way. Okay. So our first honorable mention is another great air conditioned attraction that we have, and that is Hall of Presidents, which is if you’re a history buff, if you’re into politics or anything like that, great educational ride, very inspiring, not ride attraction, but it’s very inspirational to sit through.
00:58:46:24 – 00:59:09:03
Joseph
I’d this one an eight myself under the current administration that could change in the future. It is dictated by the current administration because the current president is a premiere focus and audio animatronic. So it’s important to note that, Michelle, what would you get?
00:59:09:09 – 00:59:35:11
Michelle
I would probably give it a nine. It’s it’s one of those and especially because it’s something that gets updated pretty almost every four years, really with, you know, eight, four, eight and even sometimes, you know, back in the day, they really didn’t update, you know, like the President Park got updated, but maybe the rest of the story didn’t get updated.
00:59:35:20 – 00:59:53:21
Michelle
But now they’ve been updating the story a little bit more. So there’s, you know, some history to it. And I like that they, you know, feature various different presidents. It’s not just about who the current president is, right. But, you know, who had an impact. No matter what political party.
00:59:54:01 – 00:59:55:26
Joseph
You are.
00:59:55:26 – 00:59:57:00
Michelle
You know, they were part.
00:59:57:00 – 00:59:59:23
Joseph
And who didn’t have an impact as obvious to from the.
00:59:59:25 – 01:00:26:07
Michelle
Absolutely. So that’s what’s you know, it’s a great way to kind of have that, you know, 20, 25 minute history lesson and, you know, be comfortable and get out of the rain or get out of the heat. And, you know, if you’re a kid and you want to take a nap, take a nap, and for those parents, you know, or those others that are interested in the history lesson, it’s a nice, nice little lesson.
01:00:26:21 – 01:00:26:23
Joseph
And.
01:00:27:10 – 01:00:50:21
Madison
I’ll give it a seven. I’ve never really been all that much of a history buff myself, but I can certainly appreciate what it’s trying to do. It’s definitely trying to teach you more about it and bring more awareness to that kind of stuff. And I do appreciate that it has that it does change. I personally is it’s really just one of those rides that I won’t really go on unless I’m trying to escape the rain.
01:00:50:21 – 01:00:51:02
Madison
Really.
01:00:51:04 – 01:00:58:00
Joseph
Okay. That brings us to our next honorable mention and that is the enchanted tiki.
01:00:58:09 – 01:00:59:12
Madison
In the attic.
01:01:00:10 – 01:01:25:25
Joseph
Don’t do that. They’re going to take hundreds of. So this is again, is another air conditioned sit down attraction. You got a little pre-show that goes on there, a little comedy show and stuff. You go in and there’s some singing and there’s some jokes and there’s a lot of craning of the neck to look up. And there’s benches that aren’t very comfortable, but there’s air conditioning and that’s really the most important thing.
01:01:26:23 – 01:01:29:18
Joseph
This I’d give a six figure ratio, I’d.
01:01:29:18 – 01:01:30:10
Michelle
Give a nine.
01:01:30:15 – 01:01:31:01
Joseph
Okay.
01:01:31:07 – 01:01:40:07
Michelle
Because again, it’s a nostalgia thing. The Birds were the original animatronic audio animatronics that Walt had.
01:01:40:15 – 01:01:46:12
Joseph
They were designed, you know, employees who were the heroes of getting them, actually. All right.
01:01:47:19 – 01:02:04:15
Michelle
Yeah. They at some point, they had revamped the show and made it worse. And a lot of people hated the show and refused to go to it. And, you know, at least Disney realized they had made a mistake and kind of reverted it.
01:02:04:24 – 01:02:06:03
Joseph
It was their moment.
01:02:06:10 – 01:02:35:13
Michelle
Yeah, it was their new Coke moment. And they kind of went back, still modified it a little bit, but but brought things back a little bit better. They realized, you know what, don’t mess with if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. And, you know, so again, it’s one of those attractions that not everybody wants to go. But if you want a nice little break and see, you know, again, how audio animatronics have evolved throughout the years.
01:02:35:13 – 01:02:38:09
Michelle
Here’s a good starting point to see how they start.
01:02:38:20 – 01:02:57:09
Madison
Madison 7.5. It’s a good I like the theming of it. It is cool to see the audio animatronic birds, not one that would go on constantly, but it’s a nice air conditioning ride and I certainly prefer it all. Overall presence. If I’m looking, you’ll get air conditioning.
01:02:57:11 – 01:03:23:02
Joseph
Okay. And the last honorable mention we have is a Tex Ritter special Country Bear Jamboree. This one I’ve actually only shot for like I think two or three times. It’s an interesting show. Mm. Um, not one that really tickles my fancy. I’d give this one probably a four. What would you give it to?
01:03:23:03 – 01:03:54:00
Michelle
Probably give it a seven. It’s, it’s a cute little get out of the air conditioning, you know, musical variety show type thing. Again, this was one that they had modify it at one point. People didn’t like the newer version of it, so they kind of brought it back. So it’s kind of interesting. You have this whole cast of different characters and a nice way to spend, you know, 15, 20 minutes in the air conditioning and the seats are a little bit more padded.
01:03:54:00 – 01:03:56:04
Joseph
So that is it.
01:03:56:12 – 01:04:20:03
Madison
I’ll give it a five. I don’t I only remember being on it once really. It’s only not one of the ones that I it was, it’s like a go to air conditioning spot. It was really just there. I didn’t actually know it existed for a bit. The like it’s interesting but like I know other other attractions do it better.
01:04:20:03 – 01:04:21:07
Madison
That’s really all I can say.
01:04:21:07 – 01:04:44:03
Joseph
Okay. I can’t argue with that. So honorable mentions are out of the way. This brings us to our last attraction. We saved the best for last. This was at Liberty Square. And this brings us the Haunted Mansion. And Michelle, we’re going to let you had this one on.
01:04:44:03 – 01:04:45:14
Michelle
What do you want me to say about it?
01:04:45:17 – 01:04:47:15
Joseph
Whatever it is you want to say about it.
01:04:47:29 – 01:05:22:22
Michelle
Just how much time you got? Well, if you ever listen to our podcast or, you know, anything that I’ve I’ve talked to and if you don’t know the Haunted Mansion is my absolutely, absolutely most favorite ride ever. There is nothing that for me that that tops it and it’s an 11 me. I can’t you know, it’s just one.
01:05:23:03 – 01:05:36:14
Michelle
There’s the nostalgia part of it. You know, I remember going on it as a kid. I remember not being scared of it, you know. And I, you know, I was heartbroken when Matty would be scared of it as a kid. I’m like.
01:05:36:19 – 01:05:40:06
Joseph
No, you’re my daughter. You should love this ride like I do.
01:05:41:11 – 01:06:03:09
Michelle
And it’s one of those things where for so long, you know, you had people who loved the Haunted Mansion, but, you know, you could never find things for it. You couldn’t find merchandise for. And now it’s there’s almost too much merchandise for it. So it’s nice that it’s finally gotten the love that it.
01:06:03:26 – 01:06:06:15
Joseph
You know, it’s deserved.
01:06:06:27 – 01:06:29:18
Michelle
It’ll be interesting to see what the second version of the movie comes to be. You know how they do it justice, but it’s just one of those, you know, it’s a dark ride, but there’s various different tricks that they do. You have the Pepper’s Ghost and there’s some holograms and the lighting and, you know, just all these different things that they do to it.
01:06:29:18 – 01:07:05:07
Michelle
And, you know, they’ve updated updated it throughout the years, but still keeping a lot of the original aspect of it. I do like that they don’t change it for Nightmare before Christmas in Florida, but I do like that they change it for nightmare before Christmas in in Disneyland and that that’s an interesting take on it. You know, my my bucket list would be to visit all of the other parks and see their other versions of it.
01:07:05:07 – 01:07:32:12
Michelle
So, you know, I don’t know why it has that effect on me. It just it just does. It’s one of those things. It just always has. And, you know, it’s once you finally get inside, it’s great air conditioning and it’s, you know, hysterical that the cast members have to be mean or have to be, you know, grimacing, you know, it’s one of the only areas of the park where the cast members won’t smile at you.
01:07:32:20 – 01:07:35:10
Michelle
You know, they’re kind of mean to you a little bit. So.
01:07:35:18 – 01:07:41:06
Joseph
All right, Madison, what’s your take on this one? And remember, it’s mommy’s favorite ride.
01:07:41:07 – 01:07:44:25
Michelle
She can hate it if she wants. It’s okay. I won’t be upset.
01:07:45:22 – 01:08:08:16
Madison
I’m going to give it a ten. I move. Well, I definitely don’t have an insane amount of love for it like you do. I can certainly really appreciate it. I certainly appreciate that. It’s one of the rides that certainly tried, quote unquote, to be scary in the minds of Disney. It’s definitely one of the rides that you never really going to see.
01:08:08:16 – 01:08:20:23
Madison
Like it’s probably one of the most unique rides you got, like your dark rides, but they’re not supposed to be scary all that much. But this you have legitimate ghosts. There’s dead people, there’s jokes about being dead.
01:08:21:06 – 01:08:24:06
Joseph
And there aren’t any actual dead people on the road.
01:08:24:06 – 01:08:26:19
Madison
I mean, yeah, for the record, there.
01:08:26:21 – 01:08:27:17
Michelle
Are already ghosts.
01:08:27:17 – 01:08:50:21
Madison
So yes, I really enjoy the esthetic of it. I liked the cue that they added. Again, it was one of the more interactive cues, but you got actually way more different stuff than you normal. Again, other cues like there’s a murder mystery part to it. There’s like this thing where like you actually respond to a voice. There’s like various musical instruments you can have.
01:08:50:21 – 01:09:13:24
Madison
It definitely has more unique stuff to do and it’s not. And it can be an and it’s necessarily for more or older audiences, you got stuff, the little kids, there’s more like stuff where you actually have to think and like the murder mystery specifically can be specifically for the adults. I do like the Q where they added Madame Yoda and she like interacts and stuff.
01:09:13:24 – 01:09:33:10
Madison
That’s a really cool tombstone. It’s interesting how you go into the Ride where it kind of starts, although you’re not really on the ride. The judging portal, which is very iconic for this, you get like the narration again of the cast members being the cast members that you would never really see. Like all the cast members always seem to smile or something.
01:09:33:18 – 01:09:52:14
Madison
Nope, here they don’t smile. And one of their jokes that I heard before, I was like, Seen the dead move faster than you? And like, they always have this monotone voices I absolutely love, like dealing with those cast members, even like dealing with people who are occasionally we’d like take you in your scooter because you can’t walk of long distance.
01:09:52:14 – 01:10:10:24
Madison
And even then they’re still in character. And the ride itself really fun. It has a lot of peppers goes and that’s really fun. I love how it makes you think that there’s a bunch of girls. I love all the different tricks to it. The dune buggies are really fun. The esthetic is just really great. So yeah.
01:10:11:02 – 01:10:39:26
Joseph
Okay. Well, I would give it a nine because I don’t give anything ten. Right? What I like is the array of technology that’s in your house. You have technology that’s literally like 18th century technology with the peppers go stuff all the way up to 21st century stuff with holograms. It runs the gamut and they make it work it it’s believe able, it’s legitimate the way it works.
01:10:39:26 – 01:11:01:24
Joseph
And there’s a fantastic set of stories. I wouldn’t even say there’s a storyline. There’s numerous stories that are told throughout here that if you take the time to actually do a research and see what these stories actually are, the stories themselves are very well thought out, they’re very well seen. And the ride captures a lot of that exceedingly well.
01:11:03:01 – 01:11:33:29
Joseph
The that you feel immersed. There is a level of immersion to this ride that you don’t feel. And a lot of that comes from the characters, you know, the cast that’s there even when you’re interacting with them. You know, you mentioned that I only have my scooter even when you’re interacting with them in an official capacity from a safety standpoint where they don’t necessarily need to be in character, they still are and they still maintain that level of professionalism.
01:11:34:17 – 01:11:58:29
Joseph
So it’s a performance for the for the people that in our case, we saw it. We went in for the Halloween event. And you had live characters that were in the graveyard interacting with people in character, which is cool, but the people that walk you in, people are right in the midst of running the machines. Everybody is in character.
01:11:59:01 – 01:12:15:09
Madison
Yeah. Like the one lady since there was a line of people that were you in scooters and such, they were saying only two characters are allowed in each succession and it’s like they were in character the entire time there for due to them as carriages and that’s like it was really cool.
01:12:15:13 – 01:12:38:29
Joseph
And the whole land, the whole area around it is being, you know, the coolest thing. You walk out, you know, the pet cemetery, you have the music, you have the gift shop pristine. That entire area is the hearse. You have the hearse out front, the queue lines, everything. When you walk into that area, you literally feel like you’re part of it.
01:12:38:29 – 01:13:01:06
Joseph
You know, you’ve got the external effects on the facade of the mansion, which you don’t usually get that on most of the other. Right. You know, it’s an immersive experience just walking past it, not even getting all the way right. Yeah. So it’s a very well done ride and it really draws you in to it. So it’s definitely one of the best well run rides I think that they have.
01:13:03:00 – 01:13:30:26
Joseph
I think that is and I’m sure there’s a lot of other things that we could talk about with Magic Kingdom, but we were just trying to confine ourselves to the attractions in this podcast. I think we’ll be back next week with our Hollywood Studios Review, followed closely by our review. Any closing thoughts that we want to throw out there for folks?
01:13:30:26 – 01:14:01:04
Joseph
Okay. Don’t buy the Genie fossil this game. Yeah, that’s my $0.02. Fair enough. But I think that’s it.
