Disney+ Producer Apologizes To YouTuber For Copying Tower Of Terror Work, Is Making It Right
https://amp.cinemablend.com/television/2573916/disney-producer-apologizes-youtuber-copying-tower-of-terror-work-making-right?__twitter_impression=true&fbclid=IwAR1TL4jXn7STb6L3s_5clroKZUwfvXXvyHmVabWeAynxAxzVgFSxel6I_sI
https://bit.ly/2ZwY76j
When it comes to copyright notices, take downs and lawsuits Disney is at the forefront of enforcement.
This podcast has been the victim of Disney’s often heavy handed enforcement of their intellectual property
We’ve been forced to alter or remove our own shows when we’ve featured snippets and trailers of Disney material that we used under fair use laws.
But apparently Disney feels those same rules don’t apply when they steal someone else intellectual property without securing the proper permission
YouTuber James St. Ogne “AHNJ” a creator for the “Art of Engineering” Youtube channel raised an issue with what appeared to be unauthorized use of graphics he created and owned appearing in a Disney+ show
It seems Disney appropriated some of the Youtuber’s graphics and featured them in an episode of the Behind the Attraction series.
Only when called on the carpet publicly did Disney own up to this violation of copyright law, which they so diligently enforce for their own properties
Producer on Behind the Attraction Brian Volk-Weiss reached out to St. Ogne “AHNJ” directly and apologized for misappropriating the creators work without permission
Disney announced its intent to update the offending episode of the series to include St. Ogne “AHNJ” in the show’s credits
The issue was originally raised publicly by St. Ogne “AHNJ”on twitter, where he also reported the follow up apology from the Disney producer.
The post was short on specifics of the communication but it did confirm that Disney admitted that the graphics in question that were used in the show did indeed originate with Art of Engineering
In his apology Volk-Weiss took full responsibility and apologies for everyone involved, which included Seven Bucks Productions, partly owned by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who served as host of the Disney+ series
St. Ogne “AHNJ” was told the unfortunate situation was the result of a “chain of mistakes” but no further details were released detailing those mistakes
This is yet another example of Disney being disingenuous to a copyright system they themselves have lobbied to their advantage
Previously on this podcast we discussed royalty disputes between Disney and author Alan Dean Foster and others following their flawed interpretation of existing contracts after acquiring properties like Lucasfilm and Fox
We’ve also reported on struggles the estate of the late song writer Solomon Linda for Disney’s blatant theft of his creative property for the movie The Lion King
More recently a lawsuit between Disney and Scarlett Johansson was recently settled out of court over Disney’s questionable release of the Black Widow movie on their streaming service despite stipulations in Johansson’s contract for a theatrical only release.
Disney has also seen lawsuits for copyright infringement for their Frozen themed 2-d animated short The Snowman
Disney famously has lobbied the US government to prevent its trademark character Mickey Mouse from entering the public domain after their copyright ended, ultimately have US laws changed in their favor
Despite these valid claims against Disney and its heavy handed tactics the media giant is quick to try to protect anything it believes it owns regardless of who created it
In a recent development Disney has filed a series of lawsuits seeking to invalidate copyright-termination notices served by creators involved in key Marvel characters like Iron Man, Spider-Man and Thor
Among the targets of these lawsuits include the brother of Marvel creator Stan Lee, Lawrence Lieber who along with others are seeking to reclaim their rights to Marvel characters they were responsible for creating.
It would seem Disney’s interpretation under copyright law is very subjective and very much one sided.
While they may lodge multi-million dollar suites and cease and desist orders against those using their property, they seem to think a simple apology is sufficient when they steal other peoples work for their own commercial gain.

Star Wars Visons Reveals A New Way Lightsaber Blades Can Change Color
https://screenrant.com/star-wars-jedi-lightsaber-blades-color-crystal-change/amp/?fbclid=IwAR3JMKXt3_IU78JO-dAsYsJPdQABtsPOSyvRpT7qxAvyHbn87og3IUEnS54#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16325751892652&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com
https://bit.ly/39RUyK1
Disney+’s new anime anthology series, Star Wars: Visions, has introduced a new way for lightsabers to change color in what was a muddied, complicated and confusing standard
In Star Wars: Visions episode 5, “The Ninth Jedi,” a lightsaber craftsman reveals a whole new way to temper kyber crystals to cause the colors of lightsabers to change.
In the modern Star Wars canon, kyber crystals – the heart of lightsabers that give them their power – are colorless until they are paired with a Jedi, a system that has seen several changes since the concept of lightsabers were introduced in 1977’s A New Hope
In this new interpretation of the tradition the persona and Force connection of the wielder affects the color of the crystal, and therefore the blade.
Prior to this new concept, Jedi would create blue or green lightsabers, though other colors were possible as well.
The iconic red blades of the Sith Lords were created by exerting dark Force control over the crystal, causing it to “bleed.”
“The Ninth Jedi” changes things up in terms of how lightsabers change color.
The swordsmith of the episode tempers his lightsabers’ kyber crystals in such a way that they immediately respond to whoever holds them, not just the first person they bond with.
For instance, when he holds a lightsaber, it looks blue, and of an ordinary length
But when he gives the same saber to his daughter, the blade changes in size and becomes a colorless gray.
When she later begins to bond with it and develop her own Force connection, it turns green.
Similarly, in a battle in the episode, when a lightsaber is taken from a dark side user by a Jedi, the blade switches instantly from red to green.
That kind of split-second change in a lightsaber is very different from the previous canon.
Traditionally, if a Jedi were to use another Jedi’s lightsaber, the color and size wouldn’t change.
The lightsaber would remain the appropriate size and color for its original wielder.
But since “The Ninth Jedi” takes place in the far future of the Star Wars galaxy, it’s reasonable to assume that new methods of forging lightsabers could have emerged.
The idea of a kyber crystal changing on the fly to fit whoever’s holding it is interesting, and it adds a fun new layer to the lore of Star Wars’ most famous weapon.

GEORGE LUCAS JOINS HASBRO’S BLACK SERIES

The Maker is coming to your toy collection.
StarWars.com has revealed that George Lucas, the legendary creator of Star Wars, will join Hasbro’s vaunted 6-inch Star Wars: The Black Series line of action figures.
Created in celebration of Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary and in tribute to its founder, the figure cleverly depicts Lucas in stormtrooper armor and comes with a removable helmet and blaster.
Lucas reports in for duty in 2022.
Senior Director of Product Design at Hasbro, Vickie Stratford is quoted as saying to Starwars.com “As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I have both the honor and privilege to bring characters from the franchise to life in product form every single day,”
“When the opportunity came to design the George Lucas figure, we were especially excited for this project.
This figure is just one of the many ways we can honor his legacy for years to come and we hope fans cherish it as much as we did!”
This new George Lucas figure is actually not the first time the film icon has been brought to life in action-figure form.
In 2002, Hasbro released the 3.75-inch rebel pilot Jorg Sacul, featuring the likeness of Lucas, as a Star Wars Celebration II exclusive
Lucas next made the jump to the toy aisle for 2006’s 3.75-inch The Saga Collection, appearing as a stormtrooper; and then again in 2006 as Baron Papanoida, his character from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, in the Lucas Collector’s Set.
But this is Lucas’ debut in the modern, highly-articulated and detailed 6-inch formas provided by the Black Series.
Make room for the Maker when George Lucas (in Stormtrooper Disguise)
Pre-orders open on Wednesday, September 29, at 1 p.m. ET on Amazon.

Johnny Depp Breaks Silence On ‘CancelCulture’ & Warns ‘No One Is Safe’ AfterHe’s Dropped From Disney
https://hollywoodlife.com/2021/09/22/johnny-depp-cancel-culture-interview/
https://bit.ly/3zXEC3f
Johnny Depp slammed ‘cancel culture’ after previously claiming that he’s being boycotted by Hollywood over abuse allegations made by his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
Johnny Depp, 58, didn’t mince words when he addressed “cancel culture” at the San Sebastian Film Festival on Wednesday, September 22.
“It can be seen as an event in history that lasted for however long it lasted, this cancel culture, this instant rush to judgement based on what essentially amounts to polluted air,” Depp Said.
Johnny’s remarks come as his acting career has taken a hit after the star lost a libel case against The Sun in Nov. 2020 regarding allegations that he physically abused his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
“It’s so far out of hand now that I can promise you that no one is safe,” Johnny said about cancel culture.
“Not one of you.
No one out that door.
No one is safe,” he added.
Johnny was previously set to star in the next Fantastic Beasts film, but he was dropped from the Warner Bros. movie franchise, as well as future Disney projects, after losing the libel case.
In addition, his new film, Minamata, has not been released in the U.S., evidently due to the drama involving the actor.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor also said at the press conference,
“It takes one sentence and there’s no more ground, the carpet has been pulled.
It’s not just me that this has happened to, it’s happened to a lot of people.
This type of thing has happened to women, men.
Children have suffered from various types of unpleasantries.
Sadly at a certain point they begin to think that it’s normal.
Or that it’s them.
When it’s not.”
He went on to call the concept of cancel culture “an injustice,” and implored others to “stand up” against it.
Johnny’s been very outspoken about how his career has been impacted by his ex-wife’s allegations.
In August, he referred to “Hollywood’s boycott of, me” in an Aug. 14 interview with The Sunday Times, adding,
“One man, one actor in an unpleasant and messy situation, over the last number of years? But, you know, I’m moving towards where I need to go to make all that… To bring things to light.”
Johnny also called his career setback an “absurdity of media mathematics.”
Johnny sued Britain’s The Sun newspaper, its executive editor Dan Wootton, and its publisher, News Group Newspapers, over the 2018 article that referred to Johnny as a “wife beater.”
While Johnny vehemently denied ever abusing Amber, the court ruled that the paper proved the contents of its story “was substantially true,” and he lost the libel case.
Days after the court hearing, Johnny announced that he was “asked to resign” from his role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts by Warner Bros.
“I wish to say this.
The surreal judgment of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm I plan to appeal,” he said on Instagram.

Doctor Who: Russell T Davies returns as programme showrunner

Screenwriter Russell T Davies is to take charge again of Doctor Who, the sci-fi show he helped revive in 2005.
Davies, who was the fantasy drama’s showrunner until 2009, will take over when Chris Chibnall departs next year.
“I’m beyond excited to be back on my favourite show,” said Davies, who resumes his role as the show prepares to mark its 60th anniversary in 2023.
One of his first responsibilities will be to decide who takes over the Tardis following Jodie Whittaker’s exit.
The actress is set to hang up her Sonic Screwdriver after one more six-part series and three 2022 specials.
In a statement, however, Davies said it would be “time-travelling too fast” to speculate on what will happen when he returns.
Chibnall said it was “monumentally exciting and fitting” that Davies would be back in charge for the series’ 60th birthday.
“Russell built the baton that is about to be handed back to him,” the writer and producer continued.
Davies revived Doctor Who in its current incarnation with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor and remained for David Tennant’s time as the Doctor.
Steven Moffat took over when Matt Smith took on the role, staying to supervise Peter Capaldi’s stint as TV’s indefatigable Time Lord.
The success of Doctor Who’s relaunch led Davies to create two spin-off shows, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
After leaving the show in 2009, Davies enjoyed more acclaim with TV dramas Years and Years, A Very English Scandal and It’s A Sin.
Piers Wenger, the BBC’s director of drama, said the news of Davies’ return would “delight Doctor Who fans across the globe”.
“We are thrilled that Russell is returning to Doctor Who to build on the huge achievements of Chris and Jodie,” he continued. “Russell, it’s wonderful to have you back.”
Davies’ return was also welcomed by Bad Wolf, the production company founded in 2015 by former BBC executives Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter.
Gardner and Tranter both worked with Davies on the Doctor Who relaunch and will collaborate with him again when he returns as showrunner.
“We are delighted to be joining Russell T Davies on a looped ontological paradox,” said the Bad Wolf Twitter account.
“Where Russell goes, we are proud to follow.
“With BBC Studios, Bad Wolf will be producing the all-new series of Doctor Who.
It is a privilege to be asked to support him in Doctor Who’s future.”
Actor Matt Lucas, who played companion Nardole during Capaldi’s time as the Doctor, was evidently delighted with the news.
“Russell T Davies back in the Tardis! What a coup! I’m buzzing!” wrote the Bake Off presenter and Little Britain comic on Twitter.

Ordinary Joe – NBC
https://www.nbc.com/ordinary-joe
https://bit.ly/3ukAcT6
The series centers on Joe Kimbreau as he makes a pivotal, life-changing decision at his graduation from Syracuse University. The show follows him on three parallel timelines, starting 10 years after his graduation: as a police officer, following in his father’s footsteps; as a music star, following his passion; and as a nurse, after he marries his college sweetheart.
“So, you ever get that feeling that one choice could change your whole life?” That’s the question at the center of the new NBC series, Ordinary Joe. In this Sliding Doors-like tale, a young man (yes, named Joe) meets a pretty young lady just as he’s about to graduate from college. He makes some decisions that are truly life-changing; not just for himself, but for others as well.
NBC describes Ordinary Joe as a “heartfelt new drama about the different ways that every choice can change your destiny.” If you too have wondered “what if?,” Ordinary Joe might just be the nudge you need to explore your own life and think about how you ended up where you are.
The series explores what everyone wonders: how life would be different—or the same—if you’d made different choices long ago. Specifically, the series “asks the question of how different life might look if you made your decision based on love, loyalty or passion,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show follows Joe’s life years after a timeline-shifting choice—in three very different life scenarios that run parallel to each other.

Seven Japanese anime studios bring their unique talent and perspective to “Star Wars: Visions”
Visions is a collection of animated short films that will stream exclusively on Disney+.
These anime studios will use their signature animation and storytelling styles to realize their own visions of the galaxy far, far away.
As a first formal venture into anime, each “Star Wars: Visions” short bears a unique Japanese sensibility, which in many ways aligns with the tone and spirit of Star Wars storytelling.
From the beginning, stories told in the Star Wars galaxy have counted Japanese mythology and the films of Akira Kurosawa among their many influences, and these new visions will further explore that cultural heritage through the unique animation style and perspective of each anime studio.
I’ve finished watching all 9 of the episodes and it was at times painful to get through
I’ve made no secret of that fact that I’m not an anime fan
I’m so not an anime fan that I despise anime
I actually get a headache trying to watch anime
So for me to sit through an anime series like this is a testament to my love of Star Wars
So without any spoilers here’s my assessment of the 9 episodes
Two were enjoyable
Two were passable
Two were laughable and made the original holiday special look top notch
Two were terrible
One should not have even been made
I realize this is supposed to be an insightful pick of the week, and my insight here is that it’s not all bad like I originally expected
This isn’t how Star Wars should be done, nor is it particularly enjoyable to me
You have gaping plot holes in most of the episodes
You have story elements that simply make no sense and are counter to everything about Star Wars
Some of the episodes you feel like you’ve been dropped in the middle of the episode and you’re watching the last 15 minutes of a two hour long movie
A few of them start out with no point and end up making no point leaving me wonder why they were even made
However, given the complete lack of any other new Star Wars material to watch, it’s literally better than nothing
And if I’m being entirely honest, every one of them was better than The Last Jedi, but that’s a very low bar to have to hurdle
The one person who should be absolutely ecstatic at this series is George Lucas
Overall this series is so comically bad it actually makes the original holiday special look like a masterpiece of storytelling

what we are talking about today in our

0:02:22.080,0:02:27.200
disney detective disney thinks the rules

0:02:24.800,0:02:28.959
about copying someone else’s work is

0:02:27.200,0:02:31.360
different when they do it

0:02:28.959,0:02:32.800
then welcome the new neighborhoods of

0:02:31.360,0:02:35.040

0:02:46.640,0:02:51.599

insightful picks of the week and some

0:02:56.319,0:03:01.599

uh to show from retro con from last

ready to get into it sure let’s do it

0:04:23.600,0:04:27.000
here we go

0:04:29.040,0:04:33.840
[Music]

0:04:31.280,0:04:36.639
go for disney detective so when it comes

0:04:33.840,0:04:39.520
to copyright notices takedowns and

0:04:36.639,0:04:40.800
lawsuits disney is at the forefront of

0:04:39.520,0:04:43.280
enforcement

0:04:40.800,0:04:46.320
so this podcast has been the victim of

0:04:43.280,0:04:48.720
disney’s often heavy-handed enforcement

0:04:46.320,0:04:51.199
of their intellectual property

0:04:48.720,0:04:54.880
we’ve been forced to alter or remove our

0:04:51.199,0:04:57.919
own shows when we featured snippets and

0:04:54.880,0:05:01.680
trailers of disney material that were

0:04:57.919,0:05:04.320
used under fair uh fair use laws

0:05:01.680,0:05:06.479
so but apparently disney feels that

0:05:04.320,0:05:08.639
those same rules don’t apply when they

0:05:06.479,0:05:11.280
steal someone else’s intellectual

0:05:08.639,0:05:12.560
property without securing the proper

0:05:11.280,0:05:14.160
permission

0:05:12.560,0:05:17.919
so youtuber

0:05:14.160,0:05:20.400
james sayange a creator for the art of

0:05:17.919,0:05:22.880
engineering youtube channel raised an

0:05:20.400,0:05:25.600
issue with what appeared to be

0:05:22.880,0:05:28.240
unauthorized use of graphics that he

0:05:25.600,0:05:29.919
created and owned that appeared in a

0:05:28.240,0:05:32.960
disney plus show

0:05:29.919,0:05:35.199
it seems disney appropriated

0:05:32.960,0:05:37.840
some of the youtubers graphics and

0:05:35.199,0:05:39.680
featured them in an episode of behind

0:05:37.840,0:05:41.680
the attraction series

0:05:39.680,0:05:44.240
only when called out on the carpet

0:05:41.680,0:05:47.440
publicly did disney own up to this

0:05:44.240,0:05:49.759
violation of copyright law which they so

0:05:47.440,0:05:51.120
diligently enforce for their own

0:05:49.759,0:05:54.560
properties

0:05:51.120,0:05:57.919
producer on behind the attraction brian

0:05:54.560,0:05:59.840
volk weiss reached out to saint-orange

0:05:57.919,0:06:02.400
directly and apologized for

0:05:59.840,0:06:04.080
misappropriating the creator’s work

0:06:02.400,0:06:06.639
without permission

0:06:04.080,0:06:10.000
disney announced its intent to update

0:06:06.639,0:06:13.039
the offending episode of the series to

0:06:10.000,0:06:15.759
include him in the show’s credit

0:06:13.039,0:06:18.720
the issue was originally raised publicly

0:06:15.759,0:06:21.520
by cenge on twitter where he also

0:06:18.720,0:06:23.120
reported the follow-up apology from the

0:06:21.520,0:06:25.360
disney producer

0:06:23.120,0:06:27.759
the post was short on specifics of the

0:06:25.360,0:06:29.919
communication but did confirm that

0:06:27.759,0:06:32.960
disney admitted that the graphics in

0:06:29.919,0:06:35.199
question that were used in the show did

0:06:32.960,0:06:36.880
indeed originate from

0:06:35.199,0:06:40.319
art of engineering

0:06:36.880,0:06:43.759
in his apology volk weiss took full

0:06:40.319,0:06:46.080
responsibility and apologized uh for

0:06:43.759,0:06:48.160
everyone involved which included seven

0:06:46.080,0:06:49.520
bucks production which is partly owned

0:06:48.160,0:06:52.319
by dwayne

0:06:49.520,0:06:54.319
the rock johnson who serves as host of

0:06:52.319,0:06:57.360
the disney plus series

0:06:54.319,0:07:00.319
so st onge uh was told the unfortunate

0:06:57.360,0:07:02.960
situation was a result of a chain of

0:07:00.319,0:07:06.160
mistakes but no further details were

0:07:02.960,0:07:08.800
released detailing those mistakes

0:07:06.160,0:07:11.840
this is yet another example of disney

0:07:08.800,0:07:13.520
being uh

0:07:11.840,0:07:16.400
in

0:07:13.520,0:07:18.960
disney being i was doing so well

0:07:16.400,0:07:22.000
disingenuous

0:07:18.960,0:07:24.400
ingenuous to a copyright system they

0:07:22.000,0:07:25.599
themselves have lobbied to their

0:07:24.400,0:07:27.520
advantage

0:07:25.599,0:07:29.840
previously on this podcast we’ve

0:07:27.520,0:07:32.720
discussed royalty disputes between

0:07:29.840,0:07:34.240
disney and author alan dean foster and

0:07:32.720,0:07:37.039
others following their flawed

0:07:34.240,0:07:39.280
interpretation of existing contracts

0:07:37.039,0:07:41.440
after acquiring properties like

0:07:39.280,0:07:43.759
lucasfilms and fox

0:07:41.440,0:07:46.560
we’ve also reported on struggles the

0:07:43.759,0:07:49.919
estate of the late songwriter

0:07:46.560,0:07:52.000
solomon linda for disney’s blatant theft

0:07:49.919,0:07:53.360
of his creative property for the movie

0:07:52.000,0:07:56.000
the lion king

0:07:53.360,0:07:58.479
and obviously more recently a lawsuit

0:07:56.000,0:08:00.879
between disney and scarlett johansson

0:07:58.479,0:08:03.120
had been recently settled out of court

0:08:00.879,0:08:05.599
over disney’s questionable release of

0:08:03.120,0:08:08.000
the black widow movie on their streaming

0:08:05.599,0:08:10.800
service despite stipulations in

0:08:08.000,0:08:13.520
johansen’s contract for a theatrical

0:08:10.800,0:08:15.759
only release disney has also seen

0:08:13.520,0:08:19.120
lawsuits for copyright infringement on

0:08:15.759,0:08:20.479
their frozen themed 2d animated short

0:08:19.120,0:08:22.720
the snowman

0:08:20.479,0:08:24.800
disney famously has lobbied the u.s

0:08:22.720,0:08:27.120
government to prevent its trademark

0:08:24.800,0:08:29.360
character mickey mouse from entering the

0:08:27.120,0:08:32.560
public domain after their copyright

0:08:29.360,0:08:34.320
ended ultimately having u.s laws change

0:08:32.560,0:08:36.640
in their favor

0:08:34.320,0:08:39.519
so despite these valid claims against

0:08:36.640,0:08:41.760
disney and its heavy-handed tactics the

0:08:39.519,0:08:44.560
media giant is quick to try and protect

0:08:41.760,0:08:46.560
anything it believes it owns regardless

0:08:44.560,0:08:49.200
of who created it

0:08:46.560,0:08:51.680
in a recent development disney has filed

0:08:49.200,0:08:54.959
a series of lawsuits seeking to

0:08:51.680,0:08:57.519
invalidate copyright termination notices

0:08:54.959,0:09:00.320
served by creators involved in key

0:08:57.519,0:09:02.560
marvel characters like iron man

0:09:00.320,0:09:04.720
spider-man and thor

0:09:02.560,0:09:07.279
among the targets of these lawsuits

0:09:04.720,0:09:08.399
include the brother of marvel creator

0:09:07.279,0:09:10.000
stan lee

0:09:08.399,0:09:13.680
lawrence lee

0:09:10.000,0:09:15.680
lieber who along with others were

0:09:13.680,0:09:18.240
seeking to reclaim their rights to

0:09:15.680,0:09:20.959
marvel characters they were responsible

0:09:18.240,0:09:23.519
for creating it would seem disney’s

0:09:20.959,0:09:27.120
interpretation under copyright laws is

0:09:23.519,0:09:30.240
very subjective and very one-sided while

0:09:27.120,0:09:34.320
they may lodge multi-di multi-million

0:09:30.240,0:09:36.560
dollar suits and cease and desist orders

0:09:34.320,0:09:39.200
against those using their property they

0:09:36.560,0:09:41.279
seem to think a simple apology is

0:09:39.200,0:09:43.680
sufficient when they steal other

0:09:41.279,0:09:45.200
people’s work for their own commercial

0:09:43.680,0:09:46.800
gain

0:09:45.200,0:09:50.640
yes and

0:09:46.800,0:09:53.360
you know me i i yaw i yearn for an

0:09:50.640,0:09:55.519
opportunity to bash disney and this one

0:09:53.360,0:09:56.480
i didn’t have to it kind of bashed them

0:09:55.519,0:09:59.279
for me

0:09:56.480,0:10:01.600
right um one of the other things in the

0:09:59.279,0:10:03.760
lead article that we’re talking about

0:10:01.600,0:10:05.680
went into was the fact that

0:10:03.760,0:10:08.560
they haven’t made the changes to that

0:10:05.680,0:10:09.760
episode of behind the attractions yet

0:10:08.560,0:10:11.279
and they

0:10:09.760,0:10:13.519
talked about the fact that oh well the

0:10:11.279,0:10:15.920
disney bureaucracy it may be months

0:10:13.519,0:10:18.160
before it happens well okay if that’s

0:10:15.920,0:10:20.399
the case then they need to take that

0:10:18.160,0:10:22.480
material offline until it’s corrected

0:10:20.399,0:10:23.600
absolutely because

0:10:22.480,0:10:25.120
when we

0:10:23.600,0:10:26.399
because we’ve had a couple instances

0:10:25.120,0:10:28.000
where we’ve

0:10:26.399,0:10:29.120
shown

0:10:28.000,0:10:30.800
a

0:10:29.120,0:10:33.680
trailer

0:10:30.800,0:10:35.760
a publicly released marketing trailer

0:10:33.680,0:10:38.160
designed to bring people into the

0:10:35.760,0:10:39.680
theaters to make them money

0:10:38.160,0:10:41.360
we’ve shown that

0:10:39.680,0:10:43.519
we’ve talked over it we didn’t play the

0:10:41.360,0:10:45.839
audio we’ve talked over it and we’ve

0:10:43.519,0:10:47.200
offered commentary on it which is fair

0:10:45.839,0:10:50.320
legal use

0:10:47.200,0:10:52.079
and we’ve gotten orders to take it down

0:10:50.320,0:10:53.040
they weren’t going to accept an apology

0:10:52.079,0:10:54.320
from us

0:10:53.040,0:10:56.800
right

0:10:54.320,0:10:59.200
if i said i’m sorry i’ll i’ll give you a

0:10:56.800,0:11:00.399
credit in my credits roll afterwards

0:10:59.200,0:11:03.040
right right were they just going to let

0:11:00.399,0:11:05.200
me keep it up no of course not no so why

0:11:03.040,0:11:07.440
is it when they do it and they blatantly

0:11:05.200,0:11:09.360
steal somebody else’s work they think oh

0:11:07.440,0:11:11.360
just an apology and a credit’s going to

0:11:09.360,0:11:13.120
going to take care of that

0:11:11.360,0:11:15.360
it’s inexcusable it really is it’s

0:11:13.120,0:11:17.360
another example of

0:11:15.360,0:11:19.279
disney being so heavy-handed and the

0:11:17.360,0:11:22.640
courts being in favor of disney because

0:11:19.279,0:11:25.440
of the money they can throw around

0:11:22.640,0:11:25.440
okay that’s it

0:11:25.600,0:11:28.480
i’m done

0:11:27.200,0:11:31.760
what else do we have

0:11:28.480,0:11:36.800
so now on a much happier note

0:11:31.760,0:11:39.839
and a not bashing note so epcot uh has

0:11:36.800,0:11:43.040
officially dropped future world name as

0:11:39.839,0:11:45.920
of yesterday as the park becomes

0:11:43.040,0:11:49.600
comprised of four neighborhoods

0:11:45.920,0:11:52.399
so as of october 1st we now get to

0:11:49.600,0:11:54.560
welcome the new neighborhoods of epcot

0:11:52.399,0:11:56.160
the newly renamed neighborhoods along

0:11:54.560,0:11:58.320
with a series of updates and

0:11:56.160,0:12:00.079
improvements will debut at epcot in the

0:11:58.320,0:12:01.760
magic kingdom

0:12:00.079,0:12:04.560
uh

0:12:01.760,0:12:06.560
as part of uh the magic kingdom’s 50th

0:12:04.560,0:12:08.839
anniversary celebration

0:12:06.560,0:12:12.639
that the property kicks off as of

0:12:08.839,0:12:14.800
yesterday um so among the embracing uh

0:12:12.639,0:12:16.240
i’m sorry as a um

0:12:14.800,0:12:18.639
i’m sure there was a lot of embracing

0:12:16.240,0:12:21.279
yesterday there was if you saw any

0:12:18.639,0:12:25.920
videos from yesterday you couldn’t help

0:12:21.279,0:12:29.760
but be embraced by it everybody was all

0:12:25.920,0:12:32.560
you know anyway so among the rebranding

0:12:29.760,0:12:35.440
and renaming a number of new attractions

0:12:32.560,0:12:38.399
and venues will be unveiled as well as a

0:12:35.440,0:12:40.800
new nighttime fireworks spectacular

0:12:38.399,0:12:43.600
so among the changes future world will

0:12:40.800,0:12:46.399
be replaced with world nature

0:12:43.600,0:12:49.120
world discovery and world celebration

0:12:46.399,0:12:51.920
while world showcase lives on relatively

0:12:49.120,0:12:54.079
unchanged so world celebration will be

0:12:51.920,0:12:56.560
offering new experiences that connect

0:12:54.079,0:12:59.360
guests to one another and the world

0:12:56.560,0:13:01.760
around them the epcot entrance plaza

0:12:59.360,0:13:04.560
welcomes guests with open pathways and

0:13:01.760,0:13:06.720
sweeping green spaces that beautify the

0:13:04.560,0:13:08.720
entry there is a new fountain at the

0:13:06.720,0:13:10.720
base of spaceship earth with three

0:13:08.720,0:13:13.200
majestic pylons

0:13:10.720,0:13:16.000
spaceship earth transforms at night into

0:13:13.200,0:13:19.040
a beacon of magic with new light shining

0:13:16.000,0:13:22.720
across the geodesic spheres reflective

0:13:19.040,0:13:24.639
panels creation shop invites guests to

0:13:22.720,0:13:27.600
explore and celebrate disney’s

0:13:24.639,0:13:30.160
creativity inspired by mickey mouse an

0:13:27.600,0:13:32.880
adjacent to creation shop is a

0:13:30.160,0:13:35.279
revitalized cool club hosted by

0:13:32.880,0:13:37.680
coca-cola which is one of our favorite

0:13:35.279,0:13:40.720
rest and relaxation

0:13:37.680,0:13:43.760
locations at the park and i did see

0:13:40.720,0:13:45.199
that they did change up all of the soda

0:13:43.760,0:13:47.360
samples

0:13:45.199,0:13:49.680
there’s one that still remained from the

0:13:47.360,0:13:52.000
original so now there’s different ones

0:13:49.680,0:13:53.519
yeah nasty one no it wasn’t beverly i

0:13:52.000,0:13:56.720
think it was i can’t remember what it

0:13:53.519,0:13:59.040
was but it wasn’t beverly um so world

0:13:56.720,0:14:01.760
nature is dedicated to understanding and

0:13:59.040,0:14:04.639
preserving the beauty awe and balance of

0:14:01.760,0:14:07.360
the natural world so it will include the

0:14:04.639,0:14:10.240
land and the sea with nemo and friends

0:14:07.360,0:14:13.839
pavilions as well as the forthcoming

0:14:10.240,0:14:16.800
journey of water inspired by moana the

0:14:13.839,0:14:19.760
first experience theme to that hit movie

0:14:16.800,0:14:22.160
the land pavilion film awesome planet

0:14:19.760,0:14:24.959
showcases the beauty diversity and

0:14:22.160,0:14:27.519
dynamic story of the earth

0:14:24.959,0:14:30.160
the world discovery stories about

0:14:27.519,0:14:32.320
science technology and intergalactic

0:14:30.160,0:14:34.880
adventure will come to life

0:14:32.320,0:14:38.320
in an expansion of mission space

0:14:34.880,0:14:40.959
pavilion the new space uh 220 restaurant

0:14:38.320,0:14:44.240
which we talked about last week uh we’ll

0:14:40.959,0:14:46.639
be offering the celestial panorama of a

0:14:44.240,0:14:49.360
space station including the

0:14:46.639,0:14:53.120
daytime and nighttime views of earth

0:14:49.360,0:14:54.880
from 220 miles above the planet and then

0:14:53.120,0:14:56.320
that’s also where guardians of the

0:14:54.880,0:14:59.360
galaxy

0:14:56.320,0:15:02.720
cosmic rewind will be the first other

0:14:59.360,0:15:04.800
world showcase pavilion in epcot

0:15:02.720,0:15:07.040
so world showcase continues to be a

0:15:04.800,0:15:09.920
celebration of culture cuisine

0:15:07.040,0:15:13.839
architecture and traditions infused with

0:15:09.920,0:15:15.760
new magic i was going to say magic

0:15:13.839,0:15:18.639
music

0:15:15.760,0:15:21.199
i was making my own words so an expanded

0:15:18.639,0:15:23.920
france pavilion will feature the new

0:15:21.199,0:15:25.680
remy’s ratatouille adventure attraction

0:15:23.920,0:15:28.560
where guests feel like they’ve been

0:15:25.680,0:15:30.480
shrunk to the size of chef remy and race

0:15:28.560,0:15:33.199
through the restaurant

0:15:30.480,0:15:36.959
also in the france pavilion the classic

0:15:33.199,0:15:38.839
impressions de france film will

0:15:36.959,0:15:41.680
be joined by beauty and the beast

0:15:38.839,0:15:43.759
sing-along and then harmonious is one of

0:15:41.680,0:15:46.560
the park’s largest nighttime

0:15:43.759,0:15:49.199
spectaculars ever created for a disney

0:15:46.560,0:15:53.440
theme park and that takes place each

0:15:49.199,0:15:54.880
night at the world showcase lagoon

0:15:53.440,0:15:57.279
so i don’t know what are your thoughts

0:15:54.880,0:15:59.920
on that are you happy with what they did

0:15:57.279,0:16:01.040
for the rebranding and the remake yeah

0:15:59.920,0:16:02.800
so far

0:16:01.040,0:16:05.120
i think it it’s going to take some time

0:16:02.800,0:16:07.440
to kind of get used to

0:16:05.120,0:16:09.920
you know where things are uh you know

0:16:07.440,0:16:11.920
for the most part it’s still the same

0:16:09.920,0:16:13.920
area they just kind of group things off

0:16:11.920,0:16:16.160
and and you kind of have to think they

0:16:13.920,0:16:18.560
were already kind of

0:16:16.160,0:16:21.199
they were in because it followed that

0:16:18.560,0:16:25.040
scene that sort of that same

0:16:21.199,0:16:27.680
uh uh not spiral

0:16:25.040,0:16:30.000
wagon wheel approach to it right i mean

0:16:27.680,0:16:32.160
you really you had epcot’s always been

0:16:30.000,0:16:34.480
two parts right you always had the world

0:16:32.160,0:16:36.800
showcase was one park and then future

0:16:34.480,0:16:38.959
world was the other and and future world

0:16:36.800,0:16:40.560
always had that you know you walk up to

0:16:38.959,0:16:42.320
the middle past

0:16:40.560,0:16:43.920
spaceship earth and then you divide it

0:16:42.320,0:16:45.920
off into the different lands right and

0:16:43.920,0:16:48.160
it just kind of worked out that they had

0:16:45.920,0:16:48.959
you know living with the land

0:16:48.160,0:16:51.839
and

0:16:48.959,0:16:54.160
the living seas which is the the nature

0:16:51.839,0:16:56.399
part you know so it kind of worked out

0:16:54.160,0:16:58.240
that those two were together they didn’t

0:16:56.399,0:17:01.759
mention anything about figment or

0:16:58.240,0:17:04.799
imagination he’s i guess still kind of

0:17:01.759,0:17:08.000
there um you know and then you have

0:17:04.799,0:17:10.799
um you know the space area

0:17:08.000,0:17:12.400
um you know space and and the guardians

0:17:10.799,0:17:15.039
of the galaxy area and then you have

0:17:12.400,0:17:17.439
test track so that’s kind of the

0:17:15.039,0:17:18.880
technology part so it was kind of

0:17:17.439,0:17:20.959
already really

0:17:18.880,0:17:23.280
laid out in that to just kind of be

0:17:20.959,0:17:25.280
renamed

0:17:23.280,0:17:27.120
worked out epcot was getting a little

0:17:25.280,0:17:28.640
long in the tooth there at the pavilions

0:17:27.120,0:17:31.440
and stuff like that you had a lot of

0:17:28.640,0:17:33.679
buildings that that just have i don’t

0:17:31.440,0:17:34.559
want to say phone in the dish use but

0:17:33.679,0:17:36.480
right

0:17:34.559,0:17:38.240
you’d walk through a pavilion and

0:17:36.480,0:17:40.160
nothing was in there right and that

0:17:38.240,0:17:41.600
that’s the unfortunate part of what

0:17:40.160,0:17:43.120
future world because you had the

0:17:41.600,0:17:46.240
communicores

0:17:43.120,0:17:49.200
and that was the part that was

0:17:46.240,0:17:52.400
originally was getting updated yeah more

0:17:49.200,0:17:54.559
recently and then i guess over time

0:17:52.400,0:17:57.120
they just stopped having

0:17:54.559,0:17:58.559
uh partnerships it wasn’t even like they

0:17:57.120,0:17:59.760
weren’t updating them they were just

0:17:58.559,0:18:01.679
taking them out they were just taking

0:17:59.760,0:18:04.720
them out and not putting anything in

0:18:01.679,0:18:06.880
there and you saw with the the frequency

0:18:04.720,0:18:09.280
that we would go right every time you

0:18:06.880,0:18:10.880
would go one area was blocked off and

0:18:09.280,0:18:12.720
then another area and another and it

0:18:10.880,0:18:13.919
just got it almost looked like a cancer

0:18:12.720,0:18:16.080
spreading through the building right

0:18:13.919,0:18:18.320
because it originally kind of gave you

0:18:16.080,0:18:21.360
the idea of a world’s fair right right

0:18:18.320,0:18:24.080
you know so that was where i remember

0:18:21.360,0:18:27.039
one of the first um well it wasn’t a

0:18:24.080,0:18:29.280
video phone but they had something

0:18:27.039,0:18:31.360
because i remember like making a call or

0:18:29.280,0:18:33.760
something and and

0:18:31.360,0:18:36.080
i don’t know how i guess my mom couldn’t

0:18:33.760,0:18:37.679
see me because she didn’t have a video

0:18:36.080,0:18:39.280
so it wasn’t like a facetime thing but

0:18:37.679,0:18:41.280
it was something

0:18:39.280,0:18:43.440
kitschy right you know like i remember

0:18:41.280,0:18:45.360
the future home they had right right you

0:18:43.440,0:18:47.440
would go in and you would preview a lot

0:18:45.360,0:18:49.280
of ironically a lot of the technology

0:18:47.440,0:18:51.120
that we have in the house today right

0:18:49.280,0:18:52.720
right which was kind of interesting now

0:18:51.120,0:18:54.880
the one thing i didn’t see in the

0:18:52.720,0:18:56.960
article was anything about the dvc

0:18:54.880,0:18:59.200
lounge are they still keeping that as

0:18:56.960,0:19:01.679
far as i know they’re still

0:18:59.200,0:19:04.480
keeping that from everything else that

0:19:01.679,0:19:07.039
i’ve i’ve read or seen because that was

0:19:04.480,0:19:11.120
kind of supposed to be just for

0:19:07.039,0:19:13.520
the 25th anniversary dvc right year and

0:19:11.120,0:19:15.440
i guess they’ve kind of still you know

0:19:13.520,0:19:16.799
all right well we still have the spot so

0:19:15.440,0:19:19.120
we’ll still

0:19:16.799,0:19:20.640
use it so that for for now is still it’s

0:19:19.120,0:19:22.840
good that’s still there that’s certainly

0:19:20.640,0:19:26.240
worth paying our dvc maintenance fees

0:19:22.840,0:19:28.720
for us to have a place to relax yeah

0:19:26.240,0:19:31.120
so all right that was all we had for our

0:19:28.720,0:19:33.679
disney detective and we’ll be back in a

0:19:31.120,0:19:36.840
minute with our tales from the edge of

0:21:21.760,0:21:27.280
and confusing standard which this does

0:21:24.240,0:21:30.159
not clear that up at all

0:21:27.280,0:21:34.240
in star wars visions episode 5 titled

0:21:30.159,0:21:37.039
the 9th jedi a lightsaber craftsman

0:21:34.240,0:21:38.080
reveals a whole new way to temper kyra

0:21:37.039,0:21:40.080
crystals

0:21:38.080,0:21:41.200
to cause the colors of lightsabers to

0:21:40.080,0:21:43.679
change

0:21:41.200,0:21:46.400
in the modern star wars canon the kyber

0:21:43.679,0:21:48.000
crystal or the heart of lightsabers that

0:21:46.400,0:21:50.320
give them their power

0:21:48.000,0:21:53.200
are colorless until they are paired with

0:21:50.320,0:21:54.240
a jedi a system that has seen several

0:21:53.200,0:21:56.159
changes

0:21:54.240,0:22:00.000
since the concept of lightsabers were

0:21:56.159,0:22:01.870
introduced in 1977’s a new hope

0:22:00.000,0:22:03.039
in this new interpretation

0:22:01.870,0:22:05.760
[Music]

0:22:03.039,0:22:07.600
of the tradition the persona and force

0:22:05.760,0:22:09.440
connection of the wielder

0:22:07.600,0:22:11.360
affects the color of the crystal and

0:22:09.440,0:22:13.600
therefore the blade

0:22:11.360,0:22:15.200
prior to this new concept

0:22:13.600,0:22:17.760
jedi

0:22:15.200,0:22:19.600
would create blue or green lightsabers

0:22:17.760,0:22:21.919
though other colors were possible as

0:22:19.600,0:22:24.080
well such as mace windu’s purple one

0:22:21.919,0:22:25.760
which was a special request from samuel

0:22:24.080,0:22:28.320
l jackson

0:22:25.760,0:22:30.640
the iconic red blades of the sith lords

0:22:28.320,0:22:33.120
were created by exerting dark force

0:22:30.640,0:22:35.039
control over the crystal causing it to

0:22:33.120,0:22:36.799
quote bleed

0:22:35.039,0:22:39.440
the ninth jedi changes things up in

0:22:36.799,0:22:41.840
terms of how lightsabers change color

0:22:39.440,0:22:43.919
the swordsmith of the episode tempers

0:22:41.840,0:22:45.919
his lightsaber crystals

0:22:43.919,0:22:48.880
in such a way that they immediately

0:22:45.919,0:22:51.360
respond to whoever holds them not just

0:22:48.880,0:22:53.360
the first person they bond with

0:22:51.360,0:22:56.240
for instance when he holds a lightsaber

0:22:53.360,0:22:58.000
it looks blue and of an ordinary length

0:22:56.240,0:23:00.640
but when he gives the same saber to his

0:22:58.000,0:23:04.000
daughter the blade changes in size and

0:23:00.640,0:23:06.400
becomes a colorless gray

0:23:04.000,0:23:08.559
when she later begins to bond with it

0:23:06.400,0:23:10.400
and develop her own forced connection it

0:23:08.559,0:23:13.039
turns green

0:23:10.400,0:23:15.200
similarly in a battle in the episode

0:23:13.039,0:23:17.280
when a lightsaber is taken from a dark

0:23:15.200,0:23:20.159
side user by a jedi

0:23:17.280,0:23:21.520
the blade switches instantly from red to

0:23:20.159,0:23:23.520
green

0:23:21.520,0:23:25.360
that kind of split second change and a

0:23:23.520,0:23:27.200
lightsaber is very different from the

0:23:25.360,0:23:29.039
previous canon

0:23:27.200,0:23:31.120
traditionally if a jedi were to use

0:23:29.039,0:23:33.120
another jedi’s lightsaber the color and

0:23:31.120,0:23:34.720
size wouldn’t change

0:23:33.120,0:23:36.640
the lightsaber would remain the

0:23:34.720,0:23:38.240
appropriate size and color for its

0:23:36.640,0:23:40.400
original wielder

0:23:38.240,0:23:42.880
but since the 9th jedi takes place in

0:23:40.400,0:23:45.200
the far future of the star wars galaxy

0:23:42.880,0:23:47.440
it’s reasonable to assume that new

0:23:45.200,0:23:49.120
methods of forging lightsabers could

0:23:47.440,0:23:51.440
have emerged

0:23:49.120,0:23:53.919
the idea of kyber crystals changing on

0:23:51.440,0:23:55.279
the fly to fit whoever’s holding it is

0:23:53.919,0:23:57.760
interesting

0:23:55.279,0:24:01.120
and it adds a fun new layer to the lure

0:23:57.760,0:24:04.400
of star wars most famous weapon

0:24:01.120,0:24:06.720
so this is kind of a you know and and

0:24:04.400,0:24:08.080
spoiler alert here one of my my

0:24:06.720,0:24:10.480
insightful pick this week is actually

0:24:08.080,0:24:12.799
going to be star wars visions

0:24:10.480,0:24:15.679
but this is one of the things that uh

0:24:12.799,0:24:17.520
the series the new series does where it

0:24:15.679,0:24:19.679
kind of

0:24:17.520,0:24:21.520
redefines parts of

0:24:19.679,0:24:22.799
the star wars universe and this happens

0:24:21.520,0:24:24.799
to be one of them

0:24:22.799,0:24:27.279
now the two concepts themselves have

0:24:24.799,0:24:28.400
been in play for for quite some time we

0:24:27.279,0:24:30.720
saw

0:24:28.400,0:24:33.600
in clone wars we saw situations where

0:24:30.720,0:24:34.400
kids had to go jedi padawans had to go

0:24:33.600,0:24:35.919
and

0:24:34.400,0:24:37.760
or younglings i think it was had to go

0:24:35.919,0:24:39.760
and find their crystal and their crystal

0:24:37.760,0:24:41.600
calls out to you right right and

0:24:39.760,0:24:44.159
depending on the relationship you have

0:24:41.600,0:24:46.960
the crystal determines the color right

0:24:44.159,0:24:49.600
and then in expanded universe

0:24:46.960,0:24:51.760
you had a couple of instances but the

0:24:49.600,0:24:54.320
probably the most predominant instance

0:24:51.760,0:24:56.880
of a blade changing its length

0:24:54.320,0:24:58.559
was a character named corn horn

0:24:56.880,0:24:59.440
and it was done

0:24:58.559,0:25:02.559
by

0:24:59.440,0:25:03.679
modulating the frequency of the plasma

0:25:02.559,0:25:05.279
that was coming out of the blade so

0:25:03.679,0:25:06.559
there was literally a button on the

0:25:05.279,0:25:08.320
lightsaber

0:25:06.559,0:25:10.240
and that button could make the blade

0:25:08.320,0:25:13.440
longer or shorter

0:25:10.240,0:25:15.520
so the concept of of these things have

0:25:13.440,0:25:17.640
always been there but

0:25:15.520,0:25:20.159
it’s never been something that’s

0:25:17.640,0:25:21.760
instantaneous or tied to the individual

0:25:20.159,0:25:23.600
users so this was kind of an interesting

0:25:21.760,0:25:26.320
concept yeah i kind of like that idea

0:25:23.600,0:25:27.279
that you know the the crystal could

0:25:26.320,0:25:29.279
sense

0:25:27.279,0:25:32.320
your force your

0:25:29.279,0:25:34.240
right you know your level of

0:25:32.320,0:25:36.159
you know are you dark side are you light

0:25:34.240,0:25:38.400
side are you this color are you that

0:25:36.159,0:25:40.080
color you know and that element of

0:25:38.400,0:25:42.080
storytelling has always been there but

0:25:40.080,0:25:43.600
it’s never been instantaneous like this

0:25:42.080,0:25:45.039
which i have to tell you would be really

0:25:43.600,0:25:47.120
convenient because when we build our

0:25:45.039,0:25:49.039
lightsabers down at

0:25:47.120,0:25:50.960
disney you can change you can put

0:25:49.039,0:25:52.480
different kyber crystals in right you

0:25:50.960,0:25:53.919
can get different colors in order to do

0:25:52.480,0:25:56.320
that you have to disassemble the whole

0:25:53.919,0:25:58.000
thing and put a new crystal in right

0:25:56.320,0:26:01.840
it’d be neat to just have a button to do

0:25:58.000,0:26:03.440
that right right which ironically the um

0:26:01.840,0:26:05.840
the rev lightsaber that you gave me i

0:26:03.440,0:26:07.760
can change between two different colors

0:26:05.840,0:26:10.640
very very cool and that’s

0:26:07.760,0:26:13.200
you know the marketing person in me is

0:26:10.640,0:26:16.000
thinking oh here’s something where

0:26:13.200,0:26:19.360
you know it’ll be a multi-color

0:26:16.000,0:26:22.320
lightsaber and maybe you can’t pick the

0:26:19.360,0:26:25.279
color it it they’ll just you know kind

0:26:22.320,0:26:26.960
of like a mood ring right right now

0:26:25.279,0:26:28.720
again they’ve marketed things like this

0:26:26.960,0:26:30.400
in the past there was a revenge of the

0:26:28.720,0:26:32.559
sith lightsaber there was an anakin

0:26:30.400,0:26:35.360
lightsaber right that you would push a

0:26:32.559,0:26:38.480
button and change it from blue to red

0:26:35.360,0:26:40.080
right and then when force awakens came

0:26:38.480,0:26:42.320
out they had a toy lightsaber that could

0:26:40.080,0:26:43.919
change colors as well because he was

0:26:42.320,0:26:46.960
played both sides of the fence as well

0:26:43.919,0:26:50.159
right right so it’s

0:26:46.960,0:26:52.159
it’s a concept that’s founded in

0:26:50.159,0:26:54.559
we’ll say historical

0:26:52.159,0:26:56.159
star wars storytelling

0:26:54.559,0:26:58.240
but the way they did it in the in the

0:26:56.159,0:27:00.960
show was actually very unique so it was

0:26:58.240,0:27:02.720
kind of interesting okay

0:27:00.960,0:27:05.600
but moving on to

0:27:02.720,0:27:08.159
other story distorting ways of telling

0:27:05.600,0:27:10.159
star wars stories so let’s find out

0:27:08.159,0:27:12.720
about another action figure that’s going

0:27:10.159,0:27:16.080
to be on your list yes so one more thing

0:27:12.720,0:27:18.559
we talked last week about our uh hasbro

0:27:16.080,0:27:20.559
release uh the one thing that was not on

0:27:18.559,0:27:22.960
that press release

0:27:20.559,0:27:25.600
was the fact that george lucas will be

0:27:22.960,0:27:28.399
joining hasbro’s black series this comes

0:27:25.600,0:27:30.799
to us from starwars.com

0:27:28.399,0:27:32.840
they say the maker is coming to your toy

0:27:30.799,0:27:34.720
collection

0:27:32.840,0:27:35.919
starwars.com has revealed that george

0:27:34.720,0:27:38.159
lucas

0:27:35.919,0:27:41.360
the legendary creator of star wars will

0:27:38.159,0:27:44.720
join hasbro’s vaulted 6-inch star wars

0:27:41.360,0:27:47.600
the black series line of action figures

0:27:44.720,0:27:49.600
created in celebration of lucasfilm’s

0:27:47.600,0:27:52.320
50th anniversary

0:27:49.600,0:27:54.640
and in tribute to its founder the figure

0:27:52.320,0:27:55.520
cleverly depicts lucas in stormtrooper

0:27:54.640,0:27:57.520
armor

0:27:55.520,0:27:59.120
and comes with a removable helmet and

0:27:57.520,0:28:03.039
blaster

0:27:59.120,0:28:04.960
lucas reports for duty in 2022

0:28:03.039,0:28:07.679
senior director of product design at

0:28:04.960,0:28:11.039
hasbro vicki stratford is quoted as

0:28:07.679,0:28:13.919
saying starwars.com quote as a lifelong

0:28:11.039,0:28:15.919
star wars film i have both the honor and

0:28:13.919,0:28:18.960
privilege to bring characters from the

0:28:15.919,0:28:21.039
franchise to life in product form every

0:28:18.960,0:28:23.200
single day

0:28:21.039,0:28:25.760
when the opportunity came to design the

0:28:23.200,0:28:28.080
george lucas figure we were especially

0:28:25.760,0:28:30.640
excited for this project

0:28:28.080,0:28:32.720
this figure is just one of the many ways

0:28:30.640,0:28:33.600
we can honor his legacy for years to

0:28:32.720,0:28:36.000
come

0:28:33.600,0:28:37.440
and we hope fans cherish it as much as

0:28:36.000,0:28:39.600
we did

0:28:37.440,0:28:42.399
this new george lucas figure is actually

0:28:39.600,0:28:44.000
not the first time the film icon has

0:28:42.399,0:28:45.120
been brought to life in action figure

0:28:44.000,0:28:46.799
form

0:28:45.120,0:28:49.919
in 2002

0:28:46.799,0:28:52.080
hasbro released a 3.75 inch rebel pilot

0:28:49.919,0:28:54.080
named george sekul

0:28:52.080,0:28:57.360
featuring the likeness of lucas as a

0:28:54.080,0:28:59.520
star wars celebration 2 exclusive

0:28:57.360,0:29:03.600
lucas next made the jump to the toy

0:28:59.520,0:29:06.880
aisle in 2006’s 3.75 inch the saga

0:29:03.600,0:29:09.440
collection appearing as a stormtrooper

0:29:06.880,0:29:10.960
and then again in 2006 as baron

0:29:09.440,0:29:13.039
papanoida

0:29:10.960,0:29:14.720
the character from star wars the revenge

0:29:13.039,0:29:17.039
of the sith he played

0:29:14.720,0:29:18.080
and they appeared in the lucas collector

0:29:17.039,0:29:20.720
set

0:29:18.080,0:29:23.520
but this is lucas’s debut in the modern

0:29:20.720,0:29:27.200
highly articulated and detailed six-inch

0:29:23.520,0:29:29.279
form as provided by the black series

0:29:27.200,0:29:31.760
so make room for the maker when george

0:29:29.279,0:29:34.640
lucas and stormtrooper disguise reports

0:29:31.760,0:29:37.760
for duty pre-orders open on wednesday

0:29:34.640,0:29:39.279
september 29th at 1 pm eastern time on

0:29:37.760,0:29:41.520
amazon

0:29:39.279,0:29:43.600
so what do you think am i do i can i

0:29:41.520,0:29:45.760
sense one of those in my future

0:29:43.600,0:29:48.159
i don’t know i i should probably go to

0:29:45.760,0:29:50.240
amazon and see if i can

0:29:48.159,0:29:52.080
pre-orders are available

0:29:50.240,0:29:53.760
you know when i when i saw the article i

0:29:52.080,0:29:55.600
didn’t realize at first that he was

0:29:53.760,0:29:57.279
going to be in a storm trooper i just

0:29:55.600,0:29:59.600
figured it was going to be him jeans and

0:29:57.279,0:30:01.200
his you know that would be funny jesus

0:29:59.600,0:30:03.440
flannel

0:30:01.200,0:30:05.279
shirt so i was kind of disappointed when

0:30:03.440,0:30:07.279
i was like oh he’s in the store see what

0:30:05.279,0:30:09.039
they should do is it should be removable

0:30:07.279,0:30:12.159
armor and he’s got yes and he has the

0:30:09.039,0:30:14.720
flat now that that’s what i want to see

0:30:12.159,0:30:17.760
i want you know george lucas the

0:30:14.720,0:30:19.840
director yeah you know action figures

0:30:17.760,0:30:22.080
very cool that would be kind of cool so

0:30:19.840,0:30:24.320
that was all we had for our tales from

0:31:57.480,0:32:03.679
hollywoodlife.com it seems johnny depp

0:32:00.640,0:32:06.320
is slammed cancel culture after

0:32:03.679,0:32:08.640
previously claiming that he’s being

0:32:06.320,0:32:11.919
boycotted by hollywood over abuse

0:32:08.640,0:32:12.799
allegations made by his ex-wife amber

0:32:11.919,0:32:16.000
heard

0:32:12.799,0:32:18.559
so johnny depp who is 58 didn’t mince

0:32:16.000,0:32:21.440
words when he addressed cancel culture

0:32:18.559,0:32:23.760
at the san sebastian film festival on

0:32:21.440,0:32:26.640
wednesday september 22nd

0:32:23.760,0:32:29.760
he said it can be seen in his event in

0:32:26.640,0:32:32.960
history that lasted for however long it

0:32:29.760,0:32:35.519
lasted this cancel culture this instant

0:32:32.960,0:32:38.399
rush to judgment based on what

0:32:35.519,0:32:40.799
essentially amounts to polluted air

0:32:38.399,0:32:43.519
johnny’s remarks come as his acting

0:32:40.799,0:32:46.480
career has taken a hit after the star

0:32:43.519,0:32:49.919
lost a libel case against the sun in

0:32:46.480,0:32:52.720
november of 2020 regarding allegations

0:32:49.919,0:32:54.159
that he physically abused his ex-wife

0:32:52.720,0:32:57.120
amber heard

0:32:54.159,0:33:00.000
he said it’s so far out of hand now that

0:32:57.120,0:33:03.360
i can promise you that no one is safe

0:33:00.000,0:33:05.840
not one of you not one out that door no

0:33:03.360,0:33:07.840
one is safe he added johnny was

0:33:05.840,0:33:10.480
previously set to star in the next

0:33:07.840,0:33:13.039
fantastic beasts film but he was dropped

0:33:10.480,0:33:15.519
from warner brothers the movie franchise

0:33:13.039,0:33:19.360
as well as disney projects after losing

0:33:15.519,0:33:20.960
his libel case in addition his new film

0:33:19.360,0:33:22.480
um

0:33:20.960,0:33:25.679
minamanta

0:33:22.480,0:33:28.799
i guess minamata minamata uh had not

0:33:25.679,0:33:32.080
been released in the u.s evidently due

0:33:28.799,0:33:34.000
to the drama involving the actor that

0:33:32.080,0:33:36.480
not really sure if that’s the case or if

0:33:34.000,0:33:38.000
it’s just right timing of

0:33:36.480,0:33:39.679
everything else with coke it couldn’t

0:33:38.000,0:33:41.039
have anything to do with a pandemic

0:33:39.679,0:33:42.960
right right

0:33:41.039,0:33:45.279
because of me right it’s all because of

0:33:42.960,0:33:47.360
me so the pirates of the caribbean star

0:33:45.279,0:33:49.919
also said at the press conference it

0:33:47.360,0:33:52.480
takes one sentence and there’s no more

0:33:49.919,0:33:55.600
ground the carpet has been pulled

0:33:52.480,0:33:58.000
it’s not just that this has happened to

0:33:55.600,0:33:59.760
it’s happened to a lot of people

0:33:58.000,0:34:02.480
this type of thing

0:33:59.760,0:34:04.320
has happened to men women children have

0:34:02.480,0:34:06.960
suffered from various types of

0:34:04.320,0:34:09.280
unpleasant trees sadly at this certain

0:34:06.960,0:34:12.480
point they begin to think that it’s

0:34:09.280,0:34:14.079
normal or that it’s them

0:34:12.480,0:34:16.159
then it’s not

0:34:14.079,0:34:18.879
he went on to call the concept of

0:34:16.159,0:34:21.839
canceled culture and injustice and

0:34:18.879,0:34:24.159
implored others to stand up against it

0:34:21.839,0:34:27.200
johnny’s been very outspoken about how

0:34:24.159,0:34:30.079
his career has impact has been impacted

0:34:27.200,0:34:32.399
by his ex-wife’s allegations so in

0:34:30.079,0:34:35.040
august he referred to hollywood’s

0:34:32.399,0:34:38.320
boycott of me in an august 14th

0:34:35.040,0:34:41.119
interview with the sunday times adding

0:34:38.320,0:34:43.919
one man one actor in an unpleasant and

0:34:41.119,0:34:46.720
messy situation over the last number of

0:34:43.919,0:34:49.520
years but you know i’m moving towards

0:34:46.720,0:34:52.159
where i need to go to make all that to

0:34:49.520,0:34:55.280
bring things to light johnny also called

0:34:52.159,0:34:56.960
his career setback an absurdity of media

0:34:55.280,0:35:00.960
mathematics

0:34:56.960,0:35:01.839
johnny sued britain’s the sun newspaper

0:35:00.960,0:35:05.119
its

0:35:01.839,0:35:08.800
executive editor dan walton and its

0:35:05.119,0:35:12.240
publisher new uh news group newspapers

0:35:08.800,0:35:15.280
over the 2018 article that referred to

0:35:12.240,0:35:17.920
johnny as a wife beater while johnny

0:35:15.280,0:35:20.880
denied ever abusing amber the court

0:35:17.920,0:35:23.440
ruled that the paper proved the contents

0:35:20.880,0:35:25.440
of its story was substantially true and

0:35:23.440,0:35:27.359
he lost the libel case

0:35:25.440,0:35:29.280
days after the court hearing johnny

0:35:27.359,0:35:32.160
announced that he was being asked to

0:35:29.280,0:35:34.960
resign from his role in fantastic beasts

0:35:32.160,0:35:37.839
by warner brothers he said i wish to say

0:35:34.960,0:35:40.240
this the surreal judgment of the court

0:35:37.839,0:35:43.599
in the uk will not change my fight to

0:35:40.240,0:35:46.400
tell the truth and i confirm to plan an

0:35:43.599,0:35:47.440
appeal he had said on instagram

0:35:46.400,0:35:50.640
so

0:35:47.440,0:35:53.119
the interesting thing about this is

0:35:50.640,0:35:54.240
his complaint now

0:35:53.119,0:35:56.400
is not

0:35:54.240,0:35:57.760
that he’s being railroaded or that he’s

0:35:56.400,0:35:59.280
innocent and people don’t want to

0:35:57.760,0:36:00.720
believe he’s innocent

0:35:59.280,0:36:02.800
it’s that he doesn’t think he should be

0:36:00.720,0:36:05.359
canceled because of it right

0:36:02.800,0:36:08.079
it’s almost like yeah i did it but you

0:36:05.359,0:36:09.920
should let me go because i’m johnny depp

0:36:08.079,0:36:13.520
right like he’s not

0:36:09.920,0:36:15.599
trying to fight the whole i beat my wife

0:36:13.520,0:36:18.640
he’s basically trying to change the

0:36:15.599,0:36:20.800
dynamic of of the situation and it’s

0:36:18.640,0:36:23.839
funny because this week we on our

0:36:20.800,0:36:25.839
insights into teens podcast we did an

0:36:23.839,0:36:28.079
episode on gaslighting and that’s

0:36:25.839,0:36:30.800
exactly what he’s trying to do he’s he

0:36:28.079,0:36:33.200
knows he’s he’s been found out

0:36:30.800,0:36:35.040
he knows he’s been canceled so now he’s

0:36:33.200,0:36:38.480
trying to change the dynamic of the

0:36:35.040,0:36:41.040
equation here so that people focus on

0:36:38.480,0:36:42.560
the consequences he’s facing and not

0:36:41.040,0:36:44.240
focusing on

0:36:42.560,0:36:46.800
the

0:36:44.240,0:36:48.320
crimes really that he committed

0:36:46.800,0:36:50.960
and it’s

0:36:48.320,0:36:53.440
it’s pitiful it really is it’s it’s it’s

0:36:50.960,0:36:56.240
really pitiful at this point in time

0:36:53.440,0:36:58.560
um like when he makes a statement that

0:36:56.240,0:37:01.440
you know what was it it’s

0:36:58.560,0:37:03.440
uh media mathematics

0:37:01.440,0:37:06.079
why because your press agent can’t get

0:37:03.440,0:37:08.400
you good press that’s really what it is

0:37:06.079,0:37:10.400
you’re paying this guy really good money

0:37:08.400,0:37:12.240
to clean your name up and you’re so

0:37:10.400,0:37:14.640
dirty that you can’t

0:37:12.240,0:37:17.359
buy your way out of it right like that’s

0:37:14.640,0:37:18.960
the mathematical equation here yeah and

0:37:17.359,0:37:20.720
it’s when people think that they’re

0:37:18.960,0:37:22.880
above the law that they think they’re

0:37:20.720,0:37:24.800
that important and that they’re that

0:37:22.880,0:37:27.359
vital to society that they should be

0:37:24.800,0:37:29.359
able to get away with anything they want

0:37:27.359,0:37:30.400
and sadly when you see people in the

0:37:29.359,0:37:31.839
media

0:37:30.400,0:37:34.400
and you know high profile people like

0:37:31.839,0:37:36.480
donald trump who do right

0:37:34.400,0:37:38.160
i can understand why he thinks he should

0:37:36.480,0:37:39.680
be special enough to get away with it

0:37:38.160,0:37:42.720
too because other people are doing it

0:37:39.680,0:37:45.280
too right it’s just

0:37:42.720,0:37:46.800
i don’t know i had i’ve lost all respect

0:37:45.280,0:37:48.960
for him at this point in time as an

0:37:46.800,0:37:50.480
actor

0:37:48.960,0:37:53.680
i couldn’t even tell you the last movie

0:37:50.480,0:37:56.560
he put out that was worth watching

0:37:53.680,0:37:58.960
yeah it’s been a while yeah yeah

0:37:56.560,0:38:01.839
so anyway

0:37:58.960,0:38:03.920
on to other possibly good news for

0:38:01.839,0:38:07.119
something that we enjoy yeah so it seems

0:38:03.920,0:38:09.920
that screenwriter russell t davies is to

0:38:07.119,0:38:13.200
take charge again of doctor who the

0:38:09.920,0:38:15.119
sci-fi show that he helped to revitalize

0:38:13.200,0:38:17.760
in 2005.

0:38:15.119,0:38:21.599
davies who was the fantasy dramas

0:38:17.760,0:38:23.599
showrunner until 2009 will take over

0:38:21.599,0:38:26.240
when uh chris

0:38:23.599,0:38:28.400
chinal departs next year

0:38:26.240,0:38:30.880
i’m beyond excited to be back on my

0:38:28.400,0:38:33.280
favorite show said davies who resumes

0:38:30.880,0:38:36.839
his role of the show as the show

0:38:33.280,0:38:38.400
prepares to mark its 60th anniversary in

0:38:36.839,0:38:40.640
2023

0:38:38.400,0:38:43.440
one of his first responsibilities will

0:38:40.640,0:38:46.079
be to decide who takes over the tardis

0:38:43.440,0:38:48.160
following jody whitaker’s exit the

0:38:46.079,0:38:51.040
actress is set to hang up her sonic

0:38:48.160,0:38:53.280
screwdriver after one more six part

0:38:51.040,0:38:54.119
series and

0:38:53.280,0:38:57.599
three

0:38:54.119,0:38:59.599
2022 specials in a statement however

0:38:57.599,0:39:02.560
davey said it would be

0:38:59.599,0:39:05.359
time traveling too fast to speculate on

0:39:02.560,0:39:06.720
what will happen when he returns

0:39:05.359,0:39:09.280
china

0:39:06.720,0:39:11.599
said it was a monumental it was

0:39:09.280,0:39:13.680
monumentally exciting and fitting that

0:39:11.599,0:39:18.079
davies would be back in charge for the

0:39:13.680,0:39:20.480
60th birthday russell built the baton

0:39:18.079,0:39:22.880
that is about to be handed back to him

0:39:20.480,0:39:26.240
the writer and producer continued

0:39:22.880,0:39:28.560
davies revitalized doctor who to its

0:39:26.240,0:39:31.040
current incarnation with christopher

0:39:28.560,0:39:33.920
eccleston as the doctor and remained for

0:39:31.040,0:39:36.160
david tennant’s time as the doctor

0:39:33.920,0:39:38.560
stephen moffat took over when

0:39:36.160,0:39:39.920
matt smith took on the role saying to

0:39:38.560,0:39:43.359
supervise

0:39:39.920,0:39:46.079
peter capaldi’s stint as the time lord

0:39:43.359,0:39:48.880
the success of dr who’s relaunch led

0:39:46.079,0:39:51.920
davies to create two spin-off shows

0:39:48.880,0:39:54.880
torchwood and the sarah jane adventures

0:39:51.920,0:39:57.920
after leaving the show in 2009 davies

0:39:54.880,0:40:01.280
enjoyed more acclaim with tv dramas

0:39:57.920,0:40:03.280
years and years a very english scandal

0:40:01.280,0:40:08.000
and it’s a sin

0:40:03.280,0:40:10.640
uh peter wegner uh when wedger uh the

0:40:08.000,0:40:12.960
bbc’s director of drama said the news of

0:40:10.640,0:40:15.760
davey’s return would delight doctor who

fans across the globe we are thrilled

0:40:15.760,0:40:20.240

0:40:24.880,0:40:29.440
davey’s return was also welcomed by bad

0:40:27.520,0:40:31.440
wolf the production company that was

0:40:29.440,0:40:35.359
founded in 2015

0:40:31.440,0:40:38.560
by former bcc executives uh julie

0:40:35.359,0:40:40.800
gardner and jane trander gardner and

0:40:38.560,0:40:43.359
trander both worked with davies on dr

0:40:40.800,0:40:45.200
who’s relaunch and will collaborate with

0:40:43.359,0:40:47.520
him again when he returns as the

0:40:45.200,0:40:49.839
showrunner they said we are delighted to

0:40:52.800,0:40:57.280
thank you uh paradox

0:40:55.040,0:41:00.640
where russell goes we are proud to

follow with bbc studios bad wolf will be

0:41:00.640,0:41:05.839
producing the all new series of doctor

0:41:03.040,0:41:08.720
who it is a privilege to be asked to

0:41:05.839,0:41:10.079
support him in doctor who’s future

0:41:08.720,0:41:12.319
and actor

0:41:10.079,0:41:15.119
matt lucas who played the companion

0:41:12.319,0:41:18.240
nardole during capaldi’s time as the

0:41:15.119,0:41:20.800
doctor was also happy as well he said

0:41:18.240,0:41:24.079
russell t davies back in the tardis what

0:41:20.800,0:41:25.520
a coup i’m buzzing he had written on his

0:41:24.079,0:41:27.920
twitter

0:41:25.520,0:41:29.760
so i think this is a good sign i think

0:41:27.920,0:41:33.920
it is too um

0:41:29.760,0:41:36.560
i was not a huge fan of that first

0:41:33.920,0:41:38.000
revitalized season uh of doctor who when

0:41:36.560,0:41:40.720
they brought it back

0:41:38.000,0:41:43.280
it’s funny i don’t really remember much

0:41:40.720,0:41:44.480
of it because i don’t think

0:41:43.280,0:41:46.160
we

0:41:44.480,0:41:48.880
watched it as

0:41:46.160,0:41:50.800
religiously as we did later on well i

0:41:48.880,0:41:52.560
will i don’t even think we were together

0:41:50.800,0:41:54.480
when it first came out i watched that

0:41:52.560,0:41:56.560
first season

0:41:54.480,0:41:57.599
pretty sure i watched that first season

0:41:56.560,0:41:59.839
solo

0:41:57.599,0:42:01.440
yeah i think we were together by then

0:41:59.839,0:42:04.240
yeah i didn’t i didn’t think i could get

0:42:01.440,0:42:07.200
you to to watch it i’m not a big fan of

0:42:04.240,0:42:07.920
christopher eccleston right so he kind

0:42:07.200,0:42:09.119
of

0:42:07.920,0:42:11.280
was not

0:42:09.119,0:42:13.040
the doctor that i was looking for right

0:42:11.280,0:42:14.839
and i think that’s where a lot of people

0:42:13.040,0:42:19.440
who are doctor who

0:42:14.839,0:42:21.040
fans had a hard time because he wasn’t

0:42:19.440,0:42:23.040
right because i watched that first

0:42:21.040,0:42:26.560
season i struggled through it

0:42:23.040,0:42:28.800
he left after the first season right and

0:42:26.560,0:42:32.079
um

0:42:28.800,0:42:34.640
matt smith came in no david 10.

0:42:32.079,0:42:38.160
sorry david came in

0:42:34.640,0:42:40.160
um so david tenney came in and i didn’t

0:42:38.160,0:42:42.160
pick up the series right off the bat

0:42:40.160,0:42:44.960
when he came in it wasn’t until like his

0:42:42.160,0:42:46.880
second season in yeah that i started

0:42:44.960,0:42:49.119
watching it and

0:42:46.880,0:42:50.640
realized that he was

0:42:49.119,0:42:53.119
who it should have been to begin with

0:42:50.640,0:42:54.400
right right and then we’ve been we’ve

0:42:53.119,0:42:56.240
been watching but

0:42:54.400,0:42:57.760
you know the thing is i had a lot of

0:42:56.240,0:42:59.599
preconceived notions going into it

0:42:57.760,0:43:01.280
because i was a huge doctor who thing

0:42:59.599,0:43:03.280
growing up as a kid

0:43:01.280,0:43:04.720
you know my doctor who was always tom

0:43:03.280,0:43:06.960
baker so

0:43:04.720,0:43:09.520
i measured every other doctor

0:43:06.960,0:43:11.119
tom baker no i get it and there was a

0:43:09.520,0:43:12.800
lot of doctors that came after him that

0:43:11.119,0:43:15.440
i didn’t like i was not a big sylvester

0:43:12.800,0:43:16.480
mccoy fan either

0:43:15.440,0:43:17.839
but

0:43:16.480,0:43:19.599
you know i still watched it because it

0:43:17.839,0:43:20.960
was doctor who but

0:43:19.599,0:43:23.839
when they took it off the air there was

0:43:20.960,0:43:25.440
such a long gap right you had right that

0:43:23.839,0:43:29.119
when they brought it back and then they

0:43:25.440,0:43:31.599
had the tv movie that was kind of

0:43:29.119,0:43:32.960
weird and wasn’t crazy about that one

0:43:31.599,0:43:35.599
well and that’s the thing is not a lot

0:43:32.960,0:43:37.680
of people consider that right

0:43:35.599,0:43:39.920
right he’s kind of like that he was that

0:43:37.680,0:43:40.960
afterthought and that was like you had

0:43:39.920,0:43:42.560
uh

0:43:40.960,0:43:44.800
um

0:43:42.560,0:43:46.000
who played tarkin

0:43:44.800,0:43:48.480
help me out

0:43:46.000,0:43:50.800
grand moff talker yeah who played who’s

0:43:48.480,0:43:51.599
oh um

0:43:50.800,0:43:54.319
uh

0:43:51.599,0:43:56.560
yeah peter cushing yes peter so you had

0:43:54.319,0:43:58.800
like two or three peter cushing doctor

0:43:56.560,0:44:00.960
who movies that came out

0:43:58.800,0:44:03.520
very early on okay

0:44:00.960,0:44:05.760
that had literally nothing they were

0:44:03.520,0:44:07.200
inspired by it okay but they’re not

0:44:05.760,0:44:09.599
considered kind of but they were

0:44:07.200,0:44:11.200
actually really well done okay

0:44:09.599,0:44:14.079
um and that was kind of what a lot of

0:44:11.200,0:44:15.680
people thought of the millennium tv

0:44:14.079,0:44:17.119
movie

0:44:15.680,0:44:18.640
okay all right

0:44:17.119,0:44:20.800
but i don’t know i like the writing of

0:44:18.640,0:44:22.880
the series i just did not i could not

0:44:20.800,0:44:23.839
get into christopher eccleston as the

0:44:22.880,0:44:26.319
doctor

0:44:23.839,0:44:28.319
that’s just personal opinion right right

0:44:26.319,0:44:31.599
um which you’ll hear a lot about my

0:44:28.319,0:44:31.599
insightful pick this week too

0:44:32.319,0:44:35.760
anyway that’s all we have for our

0:44:34.079,0:44:38.319
entertainment news we’ll be right back

0:44:35.760,0:44:40.260
with your insightful pick right after

0:44:38.319,0:44:44.319
this

0:44:40.260,0:44:46.319
[Applause]

0:44:44.319,0:44:48.319
go for your insightful back so my

0:44:46.319,0:44:52.319
insightful pick happens to be a new

0:44:48.319,0:44:54.960
drama on nbc called ordinary joe so the

0:44:52.319,0:44:57.040
series centers around joe kimbrough as

0:44:54.960,0:45:00.079
he makes a pivotal life-changing

0:44:57.040,0:45:02.480
decision at his graduation from syracuse

0:45:00.079,0:45:05.760
university and what the show

0:45:02.480,0:45:08.560
does is it follows him on three parallel

0:45:05.760,0:45:09.920
timelines starting ten years after his

0:45:08.560,0:45:12.480
graduation

0:45:09.920,0:45:14.880
one where he’s a police officer who

0:45:12.480,0:45:17.359
followed in his father’s footsteps

0:45:14.880,0:45:18.480
one is a musical star following his

0:45:17.359,0:45:21.040
passion

0:45:18.480,0:45:23.119
and then one as a nurse after he marries

0:45:21.040,0:45:27.200
his college sweetheart

0:45:23.119,0:45:30.319
so it’s very much a show of what if you

0:45:27.200,0:45:33.599
know what if i made this choice in life

0:45:30.319,0:45:36.000
versus this where would my life go so

0:45:33.599,0:45:38.720
what they do is they

0:45:36.000,0:45:42.880
show it um the one article talks about

0:45:38.720,0:45:45.040
it being a sliding door like tail

0:45:42.880,0:45:47.680
because what they do is they’re showing

0:45:45.040,0:45:50.880
you three separate

0:45:47.680,0:45:52.880
stories in the same timeline of

0:45:50.880,0:45:54.160
what would have happened had he done

0:45:52.880,0:45:56.240
this

0:45:54.160,0:45:59.200
so again the show starts out with his

0:45:56.240,0:46:01.520
college graduation and at this

0:45:59.200,0:46:03.599
graduation he meets this girl that he

0:46:01.520,0:46:05.040
had never talked to before and they

0:46:03.599,0:46:08.160
briefly talk

0:46:05.040,0:46:10.480
and he goes off and you kind of see him

0:46:08.160,0:46:11.359
standing at a path and at the end of one

0:46:10.480,0:46:15.599
path

0:46:11.359,0:46:19.520
is his family his mother and his uncle

0:46:15.599,0:46:21.359
and his aunt another path is his best

0:46:19.520,0:46:24.079
friend slash

0:46:21.359,0:46:27.839
college girlfriend and then this third

0:46:24.079,0:46:29.040
path is this new girl that he met so

0:46:27.839,0:46:31.599
it’s the

0:46:29.040,0:46:33.280
what path should i take but what it does

0:46:31.599,0:46:35.760
is it shows you

0:46:33.280,0:46:38.800
each path that he took and what’s

0:46:35.760,0:46:41.359
interesting is for the most part most of

0:46:38.800,0:46:44.480
the characters are all part of each

0:46:41.359,0:46:47.040
timeline so you have um you know his

0:46:44.480,0:46:50.800
mother and his uncle you have his best

0:46:47.040,0:46:53.280
friend so in one case the best friend

0:46:50.800,0:46:56.400
uh works in a restaurant the other one

0:46:53.280,0:46:58.960
he became a lawyer and the other one uh

0:46:56.400,0:47:00.880
you know he’s married with two kids and

0:46:58.960,0:47:03.760
then same thing kind of like with his

0:47:00.880,0:47:05.680
life in the one path he’s married to one

0:47:03.760,0:47:08.560
person and the other path he’s married

0:47:05.680,0:47:11.200
to somebody else and in the third path

0:47:08.560,0:47:13.200
he’s never really dated anybody so it’s

0:47:11.200,0:47:15.440
kind of interesting

0:47:13.200,0:47:18.079
how they kind of change things up and

0:47:15.440,0:47:20.319
again because they run on the same exact

0:47:18.079,0:47:23.359
timeline so

0:47:20.319,0:47:27.599
so it’s ten years after graduation uh

0:47:23.359,0:47:29.599
this last episode was around uh

0:47:27.599,0:47:32.240
the anniversary of the 20th anniversary

0:47:29.599,0:47:33.359
of 9 11 because as it turns out his

0:47:32.240,0:47:36.559
father

0:47:33.359,0:47:41.040
was a police officer that was killed

0:47:36.559,0:47:42.400
uh at the the uh the explosions so

0:47:41.040,0:47:45.359
you get to see

0:47:42.400,0:47:46.480
different perspectives of how he reacts

0:47:45.359,0:47:50.800
to

0:47:46.480,0:47:52.800
the anniversary of of 9 11. um and again

0:47:50.800,0:47:54.400
it’s kind of interesting because there’s

0:47:52.800,0:47:56.720
this um

0:47:54.400,0:47:58.640
this senator that’s kind of a background

0:47:56.720,0:47:59.520
character and what’s interesting in the

0:47:58.640,0:48:02.559
one

0:47:59.520,0:48:06.240
when he’s this police officer

0:48:02.559,0:48:08.319
he’s actually on patrol when this uh

0:48:06.240,0:48:10.720
congressman is giving a speech and

0:48:08.319,0:48:13.200
somebody tries to shoot him and

0:48:10.720,0:48:15.839
as the cop he steps in

0:48:13.200,0:48:17.520
and you know takes the bullet for him

0:48:15.839,0:48:20.720
and helps protect

0:48:17.520,0:48:22.480
the senator where he’s a nurse

0:48:20.720,0:48:25.119
he’s not there as a police officer so

0:48:22.480,0:48:28.559
the senator does get shot and he as a

0:48:25.119,0:48:30.960
nurse he begins to be the one to

0:48:28.559,0:48:32.720
take care of him in

0:48:30.960,0:48:35.599
the third

0:48:32.720,0:48:38.000
his wife works for the senator so the

0:48:35.599,0:48:40.640
like the senator’s involved in all of it

0:48:38.000,0:48:43.440
but in just different kind of aspects so

0:48:40.640,0:48:45.280
it’s almost like you know um where you

0:48:43.440,0:48:48.160
always wonder you know oh am i meant to

0:48:45.280,0:48:51.200
be with these people it kind of shows

0:48:48.160,0:48:53.200
you yeah you no matter what path you you

0:48:51.200,0:48:55.599
take they’re going to be kind of

0:48:53.200,0:48:56.480
involved in your life but maybe some

0:48:55.599,0:48:57.680
more

0:48:56.480,0:48:59.520
directly

0:48:57.680,0:49:02.000
you know than others so

0:48:59.520,0:49:04.000
interesting concept it takes a little to

0:49:02.000,0:49:06.240
kind of get used to

0:49:04.000,0:49:09.440
what’s very interesting too is that they

0:49:06.240,0:49:11.200
use colors as a way to give you

0:49:09.440,0:49:14.400
clues what

0:49:11.200,0:49:16.800
um timeline you’re in it’s very subtle

0:49:14.400,0:49:19.920
um so you might not actually pick up on

0:49:16.800,0:49:22.559
it so um you know the one color seems to

0:49:19.920,0:49:25.839
be like blue for the police officer and

0:49:22.559,0:49:28.720
orange for the rock star and green

0:49:25.839,0:49:30.800
um you know so it’s like the lighting is

0:49:28.720,0:49:32.480
kind of huge that way in the clothing

0:49:30.800,0:49:34.880
and everything so it kind of that kind

0:49:32.480,0:49:37.200
of helps to give you an idea of of where

0:49:34.880,0:49:39.680
you are in the this timeline but you

0:49:37.200,0:49:41.920
know it kind of reminded me a little bit

0:49:39.680,0:49:44.000
of this is us with the whole jumping

0:49:41.920,0:49:45.920
back and forth and forward but here

0:49:44.000,0:49:48.319
you’re in the same timeline you just

0:49:45.920,0:49:49.920
don’t know which alternate reality i

0:49:48.319,0:49:52.480
guess you could say you know that you’re

0:49:49.920,0:49:55.530
following interesting very interesting

0:49:52.480,0:49:58.480
thank you

0:49:55.530,0:50:00.079
[Applause]

0:49:58.480,0:50:03.200
[Music]

0:50:00.079,0:50:05.359
so my pick this week kind of

0:50:03.200,0:50:07.599
you know usually when i when i pick an

0:50:05.359,0:50:09.520
insightful pick i pick it to recommend

0:50:07.599,0:50:10.960
to people to hey you should go watch

0:50:09.520,0:50:12.480
this type of thing

0:50:10.960,0:50:13.599
and this one’s a little bit different

0:50:12.480,0:50:15.680
this week

0:50:13.599,0:50:18.800
so my pick this week is star wars

0:50:15.680,0:50:21.119
visions the new disney plus series

0:50:18.800,0:50:23.359
seven japanese anime studios bring their

0:50:21.119,0:50:24.880
unique talent and perspective to star

0:50:23.359,0:50:27.040
wars visions

0:50:24.880,0:50:29.280
visions is a collection of animated

0:50:27.040,0:50:31.119
short films that will stream exclusively

0:50:29.280,0:50:33.119
on disney plus

0:50:31.119,0:50:35.280
these anime studios will use their

0:50:33.119,0:50:38.559
signature animation and storytelling

0:50:35.280,0:50:40.400
styles to realize their own vision of a

0:50:38.559,0:50:42.880
galaxy far

0:50:40.400,0:50:46.400
far away

0:50:42.880,0:50:48.960
as a first and formal venture into anime

0:50:46.400,0:50:51.599
each star wars visions short

0:50:48.960,0:50:54.559
bears a unique japanese sensibility

0:50:51.599,0:50:57.680
which in many ways aligns with the tone

0:50:54.559,0:50:59.520
and spirit of star wars storytelling

0:50:57.680,0:51:01.839
from the beginning stories told in the

0:50:59.520,0:51:04.319
star wars galaxy have counted japanese

0:51:01.839,0:51:05.599
mythology and the films of akira

0:51:04.319,0:51:08.640
kurosawa

0:51:05.599,0:51:11.280
among their many influences and these

0:51:08.640,0:51:13.040
new visions will further explore that

0:51:11.280,0:51:15.599
cultural heritage

0:51:13.040,0:51:18.960
through the unique animation style and

0:51:15.599,0:51:20.800
perspective of each anime studio

0:51:18.960,0:51:23.200
now for the record i finished watching

0:51:20.800,0:51:26.079
all nine of the episodes and it was at

0:51:23.200,0:51:28.480
times painful to get through

0:51:26.079,0:51:31.040
i’ve made no secret in the past of the

0:51:28.480,0:51:33.520
fact that i am not an anime fan

0:51:31.040,0:51:35.359
in fact i am so not an anime fan i

0:51:33.520,0:51:36.960
despise anime

0:51:35.359,0:51:38.559
i actually get a headache trying to

0:51:36.960,0:51:40.720
watch anime

0:51:38.559,0:51:42.720
so for me to sit through an anime series

0:51:40.720,0:51:44.559
like this is a testament to my love of

0:51:42.720,0:51:46.400
star wars

0:51:44.559,0:51:48.559
but without any spoilers

0:51:46.400,0:51:52.240
here is my

0:51:48.559,0:51:54.160
nickel assessment of the nine episodes

0:51:52.240,0:51:54.960
two were enjoyable and i’ll admit to

0:51:54.160,0:51:57.040
that

0:51:54.960,0:51:59.040
two are passable and i’ll give them the

0:51:57.040,0:52:00.880
credit that they deserve

0:51:59.040,0:52:03.599
two were laughable and made the original

0:52:00.880,0:52:05.680
holiday special look top-notch

0:52:03.599,0:52:08.800
two were just terrible

0:52:05.680,0:52:10.880
and one should have never even been made

0:52:08.800,0:52:12.800
now i realized like i said that this is

0:52:10.880,0:52:15.680
supposed to be an insightful pick and my

0:52:12.800,0:52:17.520
insight here is that it’s not all

0:52:15.680,0:52:19.280
all bad like i had originally expected

0:52:17.520,0:52:21.920
it would be

0:52:19.280,0:52:24.319
this to me isn’t how star wars should be

0:52:21.920,0:52:25.599
done nor is it particularly enjoyable to

0:52:24.319,0:52:28.319
me

0:52:25.599,0:52:30.160
you have gaping plot holes in most of

0:52:28.319,0:52:32.160
the episodes

0:52:30.160,0:52:34.559
you have story elements that simply make

0:52:32.160,0:52:36.720
no sense and are counter to everything

0:52:34.559,0:52:38.400
about star wars

0:52:36.720,0:52:39.839
some of the episodes you feel like

0:52:38.400,0:52:41.760
you’ve been dropped in the middle of an

0:52:39.839,0:52:44.319
episode and you’re watching the last 15

0:52:41.760,0:52:46.559
minutes of a two-hour long movie

0:52:44.319,0:52:48.960
a few of them start out with no point

0:52:46.559,0:52:51.440
and end up making no point leaving me

0:52:48.960,0:52:53.920
wonder why they were even made

0:52:51.440,0:52:56.640
however given the complete lack of any

0:52:53.920,0:53:00.079
other star wars material to watch

0:52:56.640,0:53:02.160
it’s literally better than nothing

0:53:00.079,0:53:04.880
if i’m being entirely honest every one

0:53:02.160,0:53:07.680
of them was better than the last jedi

0:53:04.880,0:53:09.440
which is a very low bar to have to

0:53:07.680,0:53:12.000
hurdle

0:53:09.440,0:53:14.800
the one person who should be absolutely

0:53:12.000,0:53:18.160
ecstatic at this series is george lucas

0:53:14.800,0:53:20.240
overall this series is so comically bad

0:53:18.160,0:53:22.000
it actually makes the original holiday

0:53:20.240,0:53:23.760
special look like a masterpiece of

0:53:22.000,0:53:26.000
storytelling

0:53:23.760,0:53:28.720
and that’s

0:53:26.000,0:53:32.079
you know flat out my honest opinion

0:53:28.720,0:53:35.440
that’s a great pick han um

0:53:32.079,0:53:38.000
the ones that are good are very good

0:53:35.440,0:53:39.440
okay and they are very

0:53:38.000,0:53:41.920
they look like they were done by

0:53:39.440,0:53:44.480
kurosawa himself they’re that good and

0:53:41.920,0:53:46.079
they’re samurai based one you know that

0:53:44.480,0:53:48.160
makes a lot of sense

0:53:46.079,0:53:49.280
and there’s something i can get behind

0:53:48.160,0:53:51.119
in those

0:53:49.280,0:53:54.480
there’s

0:53:51.119,0:53:57.520
there’s an inferred lure there’s

0:53:54.480,0:53:59.680
traditional star wars stuff light side

0:53:57.520,0:54:01.920
dark side stuff

0:53:59.680,0:54:03.040
people in need people are being

0:54:01.920,0:54:05.920
oppressed

0:54:03.040,0:54:08.079
there’s the empire like there’s elements

0:54:05.920,0:54:10.880
that they wrap themselves in where the

0:54:08.079,0:54:14.640
ones that are good really work

0:54:10.880,0:54:16.480
but the ones that are terrible just

0:54:14.640,0:54:19.359
should not should not have been made

0:54:16.480,0:54:21.680
they make no sense whatsoever it’s just

0:54:19.359,0:54:23.119
too much creative license

0:54:21.680,0:54:25.200
like i understand that you’re

0:54:23.119,0:54:27.520
interpreting

0:54:25.200,0:54:29.440
star wars into your own culture and

0:54:27.520,0:54:30.160
stuff like that

0:54:29.440,0:54:31.920
but

0:54:30.160,0:54:34.240
stuff you know we talked about the

0:54:31.920,0:54:36.559
changing of lightsaber colors

0:54:34.240,0:54:38.480
okay so there’s elements of that that

0:54:36.559,0:54:40.240
makes sense that actually happened to be

0:54:38.480,0:54:42.640
one of the episodes that was very good

0:54:40.240,0:54:45.920
okay the ninth jedi but then there’s

0:54:42.640,0:54:49.440
another episode called the twins where

0:54:45.920,0:54:51.839
you have two twins and they build a star

0:54:49.440,0:54:53.839
destroyer super weapon because you know

0:54:51.839,0:54:56.559
you always have to have a super weapon

0:54:53.839,0:54:58.480
that’s literally two star destroyers

0:54:56.559,0:54:59.599
welded together with a cannon in the

0:54:58.480,0:55:01.839
middle

0:54:59.599,0:55:04.319
and the dark armor that they wear

0:55:01.839,0:55:06.960
supposedly powers this well one decides

0:55:04.319,0:55:10.000
to go good the other is bad

0:55:06.960,0:55:12.960
and then there’s outside in space with

0:55:10.000,0:55:14.880
no environmental suits

0:55:12.960,0:55:17.119
surfing the star destroyers fighting

0:55:14.880,0:55:20.000
each other and one literally cuts a star

0:55:17.119,0:55:21.119
destroyer in half with a lightsaber

0:55:20.000,0:55:23.839
and

0:55:21.119,0:55:27.359
it’s sick that animation style is

0:55:23.839,0:55:29.040
signature over exaggeration like anime

0:55:27.359,0:55:32.480
is

0:55:29.040,0:55:33.440
but it’s just done so poorly

0:55:32.480,0:55:35.280
that

0:55:33.440,0:55:39.760
it’s

0:55:35.280,0:55:42.640
i almost want to unwatch it i really do

0:55:39.760,0:55:44.480
and and to me anime is the art of poor

0:55:42.640,0:55:46.960
animation it’s like someone literally

0:55:44.480,0:55:48.559
tries to come up with the worst possible

0:55:46.960,0:55:50.720
way

0:55:48.559,0:55:53.440
to illustrate a story

0:55:50.720,0:55:55.520
now most anime stories have great plots

0:55:53.440,0:55:57.280
they’re detailed you have great

0:55:55.520,0:56:00.000
character development and if i’m reading

0:55:57.280,0:56:02.079
it on a page it’s awesome

0:56:00.000,0:56:04.000
and then they put it the pen and ink and

0:56:02.079,0:56:06.559
they just destroy the entire story with

0:56:04.000,0:56:08.559
poor animation well and that’s your

0:56:06.559,0:56:12.480
opinion because there are people that

0:56:08.559,0:56:14.240
are huge fans i don’t know about anime i

0:56:12.480,0:56:16.319
i totally acknowledge that but this

0:56:14.240,0:56:19.760
isn’t their show it’s our show so i’m

0:56:16.319,0:56:22.720
allowed to state my opinion on this show

0:56:19.760,0:56:26.960
okay so that is my

0:56:22.720,0:56:29.520
insightful unpick this week is star wars

0:56:26.960,0:56:32.079
visions okay and i had to do it because

0:56:29.520,0:56:33.040
it was star wars of course

0:56:32.079,0:56:34.880
um

0:56:33.040,0:56:37.839
and i think i bashed that more than i

0:56:34.880,0:56:39.440
bashed disney this week i don’t know

0:56:37.839,0:56:40.480
well cause i wrote the script right i

0:56:39.440,0:56:42.720
was gonna say

0:56:40.480,0:56:44.720
yeah you made it out like i bashed i

0:56:42.720,0:56:46.400
just read it

0:56:44.720,0:56:48.079
you read it very good too well thank you

0:56:46.400,0:56:49.119
you read it exactly the way that i wrote

0:56:48.079,0:56:50.580
it good

0:56:49.119,0:56:51.920
because you’re in my head

0:56:50.580,0:56:53.920
[Laughter]

0:56:51.920,0:56:55.520
uh that’s it for our insightful picks

0:56:53.920,0:57:00.720
this week we’ll be right back with our

0:56:55.520,0:57:00.720
afterthoughts and a retro con recap

0:57:00.750,0:57:05.119
[Applause]

0:57:03.700,0:57:07.280
[Music]

0:57:05.119,0:57:10.000
so we do have a retro con video to show

0:57:07.280,0:57:13.920
real quick um i’m going to show that at

0:57:10.000,0:57:15.440
the end of the show though oh okay

0:57:13.920,0:57:17.119
but

0:57:15.440,0:57:19.359
five second recap

0:57:17.119,0:57:22.559
uh

0:57:19.359,0:57:23.920
i don’t know seemed kind of as busy as

0:57:22.559,0:57:25.520
it normally

0:57:23.920,0:57:29.119
doesn’t seem like there was a shortage

0:57:25.520,0:57:30.480
of vendors right there was a shortage of

0:57:29.119,0:57:34.000
costuming

0:57:30.480,0:57:36.079
and a shortage of the celebrity to style

0:57:34.000,0:57:38.880
stuff that’s in the backyard right well

0:57:36.079,0:57:41.119
we we also by the time i know i made it

0:57:38.880,0:57:42.480
to to the back they were doing the kids

0:57:41.119,0:57:45.119
costume

0:57:42.480,0:57:47.760
contest so that could have been maybe

0:57:45.119,0:57:49.520
why we didn’t see well i think as many

0:57:47.760,0:57:51.520
people didn’t have as many appearances

0:57:49.520,0:57:53.359
there because true you had appearances

0:57:51.520,0:57:55.040
that were exclusive to saturday and ones

0:57:53.359,0:57:57.200
that were exclusive to sun right right

0:57:55.040,0:57:59.359
which is normally how they

0:57:57.200,0:58:01.520
they do it you know since it’s only the

0:57:59.359,0:58:03.920
the two days we didn’t stay for any of

0:58:01.520,0:58:06.799
the panels uh because there was the one

0:58:03.920,0:58:10.079
panel for greatest american hero right

0:58:06.799,0:58:11.040
that was gonna be going on um

0:58:10.079,0:58:13.440
so

0:58:11.040,0:58:15.599
and it’s such a small little area i

0:58:13.440,0:58:17.920
don’t know how i wasn’t comfortable

0:58:15.599,0:58:21.040
staying because of how close right right

0:58:17.920,0:58:26.000
but um you know

0:58:21.040,0:58:29.280
a very decent selection of of things out

0:58:26.000,0:58:31.280
there new items old items which is

0:58:29.280,0:58:34.000
normally what you you see

0:58:31.280,0:58:35.040
um i always like the

0:58:34.000,0:58:37.599
um

0:58:35.040,0:58:39.680
the artists who were there you know

0:58:37.599,0:58:42.000
selling their wares so it’s you know

0:58:39.680,0:58:43.599
kind of the one of a kind didn’t seem

0:58:42.000,0:58:45.280
like they had as many artists this time

0:58:43.599,0:58:47.359
didn’t have as many but they had a

0:58:45.280,0:58:50.400
couple that we’ve seen before

0:58:47.359,0:58:54.640
um the one that i uh bought something

0:58:50.400,0:58:55.599
from uh she uh she had been there uh

0:58:54.640,0:58:56.400
before

0:58:55.599,0:58:58.640
um

0:58:56.400,0:59:02.000
you know it’s one of the it was funny

0:58:58.640,0:59:05.520
because i was wearing um the haunted

0:59:02.000,0:59:08.319
mansion shirt that you got

0:59:05.520,0:59:09.920
that didn’t fit um and a lot of people

0:59:08.319,0:59:12.400
stopped me and were asking me about my

0:59:09.920,0:59:14.000
shirt but also asking me

0:59:12.400,0:59:15.599
you know oh do you know if people are

0:59:14.000,0:59:17.040
selling disney stuff and it was one of

0:59:15.599,0:59:19.040
those things where sometimes

0:59:17.040,0:59:22.400
you did have to kind of

0:59:19.040,0:59:24.480
go in and look and and there’s treasures

0:59:22.400,0:59:25.520
there if you dig for it i had picked up

0:59:24.480,0:59:27.680
uh

0:59:25.520,0:59:28.799
this this one particular vader piece

0:59:27.680,0:59:31.119
that i wanted there that i’ve been

0:59:28.799,0:59:33.200
looking for and couldn’t get a price of

0:59:31.119,0:59:35.760
good price but i got a very good price

0:59:33.200,0:59:37.920
at the show yeah uh and there was a

0:59:35.760,0:59:40.640
couple uh much to my surprise there were

0:59:37.920,0:59:42.000
two vendors that had carted uh return of

0:59:40.640,0:59:44.480
the jedi

0:59:42.000,0:59:47.839
darth vader figures there that were in

0:59:44.480,0:59:49.839
fairly decent shape they were asking

0:59:47.839,0:59:52.799
fair market value for them but they

0:59:49.839,0:59:54.319
weren’t graded so i was not going to pay

0:59:52.799,0:59:56.640
fair market value without it being

0:59:54.319,0:59:58.640
graded yeah so again it’s one of those

0:59:56.640,1:00:01.359
things you have to kind of know what

0:59:58.640,1:00:03.040
you’re looking for um and some things

1:00:01.359,1:00:05.839
you’re kind of like i didn’t even know

1:00:03.040,1:00:08.319
they made this and that becomes the oh i

1:00:05.839,1:00:09.760
want this now scale of one to ten ten

1:00:08.319,1:00:12.400
being the best

1:00:09.760,1:00:14.480
seven i think i would agree seven seven

1:00:12.400,1:00:16.240
or eight maybe depending on which which

1:00:14.480,1:00:19.119
direction you walked at the right time

1:00:16.240,1:00:20.480
right right but like they didn’t try and

1:00:19.119,1:00:21.440
pack you in

1:00:20.480,1:00:23.680
um

1:00:21.440,1:00:26.240
they didn’t have you know the the aisles

1:00:23.680,1:00:28.720
and retro con normally isn’t one of

1:00:26.240,1:00:31.119
their crowds they’re very well spaced

1:00:28.720,1:00:33.760
out so that you have enough room to to

1:00:31.119,1:00:35.040
walk one side and come back in the same

1:00:33.760,1:00:38.079
row and

1:00:35.040,1:00:41.200
usually not run into anybody comic-con

1:00:38.079,1:00:43.119
new york yeah that was yeah

1:00:41.200,1:00:45.920
okay great so what do we have coming up

1:00:43.119,1:00:48.559
tell us what we got um so next weekend

1:00:45.920,1:00:52.240
is the delaware train show and

1:00:48.559,1:00:54.720
oktoberfest toy show on october 9th and

1:00:52.240,1:00:57.119
10th at the nurse shrine center in

1:00:54.720,1:00:59.359
newcastle delaware usually only a couple

1:00:57.119,1:01:01.839
of bucks to get in you know five five

1:00:59.359,1:01:03.680
bucks i think uh you know relatively uh

1:01:01.839,1:01:06.319
inexpensive we’ve never been to the

1:01:03.680,1:01:09.359
train show cause that’s not our thing

1:01:06.319,1:01:11.040
but some people uh might enjoy that so

1:01:09.359,1:01:13.839
definitely check that out the one that

1:01:11.040,1:01:18.079
we do try to go to is the oktoberfest

1:01:13.839,1:01:22.559
toy show and again it’s um a hodgepodge

1:01:18.079,1:01:24.559
of of vendors uh selling their wares

1:01:22.559,1:01:27.760
then monster mania

1:01:24.559,1:01:30.799
uh in oaks pennsylvania will be october

1:01:27.760,1:01:33.280
22nd through the 24th this is the first

1:01:30.799,1:01:36.400
time they’re actually going to be doing

1:01:33.280,1:01:38.160
inside oaks um that was where we had

1:01:36.400,1:01:39.760
gone in may where they did the little

1:01:38.160,1:01:41.680
mini mall

1:01:39.760,1:01:43.520
so this will be interesting to kind of

1:01:41.680,1:01:45.280
see how they

1:01:43.520,1:01:47.200
do things

1:01:45.280,1:01:50.000
over in oaks

1:01:47.200,1:01:52.240
then also that weekend if you’re not in

1:01:50.000,1:01:55.359
the pennsylvania area but you’re in the

1:01:52.240,1:01:57.599
baltimore area baltimore comic-con will

1:01:55.359,1:01:58.720
actually be returning this year and that

1:01:57.599,1:02:02.960
is also

1:01:58.720,1:02:06.480
uh october 22nd and 24th and um

1:02:02.960,1:02:09.280
baltimore comic con we went to years ago

1:02:06.480,1:02:12.240
and it’s definitely more of a

1:02:09.280,1:02:15.440
comic book convention

1:02:12.240,1:02:17.440
you don’t really get as many people

1:02:15.440,1:02:19.680
as many vendors

1:02:17.440,1:02:23.760
selling toys or collectibles or things

1:02:19.680,1:02:26.960
like that a lot more artists um a lot

1:02:23.760,1:02:30.079
more comics and you know so it’s truly a

1:02:26.960,1:02:32.079
comic book um convention so if that’s

1:02:30.079,1:02:35.359
what you’re you know into and you’re in

1:02:32.079,1:02:38.319
the baltimore area very nice venue as

1:02:35.359,1:02:41.039
well not too far um from the inner

1:02:38.319,1:02:44.799
harbor and things like that and then in

1:02:41.039,1:02:47.440
december will be ocean city comic con

1:02:44.799,1:02:48.880
in ocean city maryland

1:02:47.440,1:02:53.280
and that’s it

1:02:48.880,1:02:55.520
before we go i do want to once again uh
