Just what is the cost of staying safe at Disney World during the COVID-19 crisis, we’ll get the inside scoop from so Disney employees. We’ll also look at some of the unique Disney Park items coming up for auction this month as Disney hosts the “Disneyland: The First 65 Years” auction in Sherman Oaks California on August 15th and 16th.
Tales from the Edge of the Galaxy gives us some disappointing news about delays in three of the as yet untitled Star Wars movies on the horizon due to the COVID-19 crisis. We;ll also take a behind the scenes look at the true inspiration for Supreme Leader Snoke from the man who designed the character.
In Entertainment news we have some additional delays due to COVID-19. Films like “A Quiet Place 2”, “Top Gun: Maverick” and even a sequel to “Sonic The Hedgehog” are all getting delayed release dates. We’ve got all the details on that as well as our take on the digital versus cinematic release methods currently in play in the industry.
We’ll round out the show with a couple of great Insightful Picks of the Week. But before we go we’ll talk a bit about how well Comiccon@home did as a virtual San Diego Comic Con this year and whether it’s a model worth exploring in future years.
This week we take a look at screen violence in the form of video games, television and movies. We look at the different types of violence and the effect it has on today’s youth. We’ll look at some interesting statistics and several studies that offer insights into both sides of the argument of whether screen violence leads to violence in today’s youth. Then we’ll take a look at what parents can do to help teens cope with the violence that is so prevalent in our current media and entertainment.
This week Disney in the news for a lawsuit alleging discrimination by an autistic man for their current queuing policy for disabled guests. After a rich year at the box office for Disney in 2019 we’ll take a look at the bleak outlook for the mega-company in the 2020 box office year. Then we’ll pay tribute to Disneyland’s customer number 1 from it’s opening day back in 1955.
Encouraging entertainment news indicates the screenwriter of the latest edition to the Star Wars movie franchise will settle the question of “Who is Rey”. Stranger Things is renewed for a fourth season and it’s creators Matt and Ross duffer sign a very lucrative multi-year contract to continue producing content. And finally we look at details just emerging on the much anticipated Billy Joel anthology TV series before we wrap up with our insightful picks of the week.
Summer is almost here and the excitement of school letting out and summary activities is all the buzz. This week Madison and Joe talk about what there is to do in the summer, the four common stages of summer vacation and offer some suggestions on what to do for day trips and for those stay at home days to help keep you motivated and make the hot summer months a little more enjoyable.
This week Michelle and Joe delve into the labor disputes at Disneyland Paris that left the park littered with trash, we offer praise to Captain Marvel for breaking the one billion dollar box office mark, then we talk about the fiasco that the pre-sale ticket experience was for Avengers End Game this week, all part of our Disney Detective segment. In our entertainment news section we look at Netflix both raising it’s prices and getting some support from the US Department of Justice in what is shaping up to be a possible fight with the Academy for eligibility at the Academy Awards. Then we jump over to the music industry and talk about some health concerns associated with Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones and a new album and tour coming from Celine Dion. We finish up with two great new picks in our Insightful Picks section including a new show suggestion from Michelle and another excellent podcast suggestion from Joe.
