In today’s episode we’re going to take a look at Marching Band. We’ll explore what’s involved as far as time and commitment. We’ll talk about what skills are honed in marching band, not all of which are musical. We’ll also take a look at some of the less obvious benefits teens gain that will stay with them for a lifetime.
This week we are talking about Cultural Appropriation. We will help you understand what cultural appropriation is by looking at the meanings associated with the phrase and other vocabulary associated with cultural appropriation. We’ll take a look at some real world examples of cultural appropriation and why they are considered cultural appropriation. And finally we’ll look at ways to know if something is cultural appropriation and how to avoid cultural appropriation in our everyday lives.
This week we discuss the importance of teens having hobbies and activities to occupy their free time. We’ll look at an interesting study from the Department of Health and Human Services that details how teens spend their time throughout the day. We’ll look at some of the potential pitfalls of misspent free time by teens and we’ll talk about what productive downtime is and how it helps teens. We’ll also detail 10 significant benefits that teens gain through hobbies before finally taking a look at some of the hobbies and activities that Madison tends to enjoy.
In another of our question and answer series we talk about school, interests and activities. We’ll explore what aspects of school Madison enjoys the most, what classes she’s learning the most in, her favorite part of school and much more.
We’ll also talk about her hobbies, what video games she’s playing, her collecting hobbies, the music she likes to listen to and much more. We were joined this week by a viewer from Estonia who took advantage of the opportunity to pose some of their own questions in a unique two way conversation.
This week we highlight the artistic talents of our co-host Madison. We’ll take a look at several outlets for artistic expression that she enjoys from music to writing and illustration to creative construction. We’ve got a few pre-recorded segments that will allow us to showcase Madison’s musical talents on the Trumpet and some spoken word versions of her creative writing exploits.
We also took the time to digitize a selection of her artwork. We’ll get a chance to look at how her artistic styles and skills advance from basic custom comics through her own character generation and the evolution of her own unique art style.
Finally we’ll look at her creative construction expression through her custom lego creations. We’ll take a walk through her unique apartment complex that allowed her to expand beyond just doing instruction based Lego builds to something a bit more complicated and creative.
