Insights Into Entertainment: Episode 60 “Furloughs and Landgrabs”

Disney is forced to reluctantly furlough non-essential employees in the wake of the continued shutdown of operations due to COVID-19, but they are still covering their health insurance and Disney execs are taking one for the team as well. At the same time Disney is expanding their landholdings around Disney World in Florida and donating masks and ponchos to health care workers on the frontline of the Coronavirus crisis.

In Star Wars Insights we’ll take a look at a change in writers for the forthcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series set for debut on Disney Plus sometime in the near future. And we say a tearful goodbye to Actor and dialect coach Andre Jack whom fans will recognize him as General Ematt from Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi as well as other Star Wars movies.

In Entertainment News we’ll talk about HBO making over 30 movies and shows available free of charge to help you get through your COVID-19 isolation. And Fran Drescher and the original case of The Nanny will reunite for a Virtual Table read of the original pilot 1992 pilot episode of the show for those stuck at home with nothing to do.

Insights Into Teens: Episode 58 "Current Events: Coronavirus"

It’s hard to talk about anything at this point in time without talking about Coronavirus. So we take time out of our regularly scheduled shows to discuss this worldwide event. We talk about what COVID-19 is, how it’s transmitted and how to avoid getting it. We’ll talk about proper hygiene, what the symptoms are and what warning signs to look for before seeking medical attention.

We’ll take a look at a different aspect as well. We’ll look at the direct impact that it’s having on our kids, family and friends. We’ll discuss the changes we’re all trying adapt to in these difficult times and how we are coping with the challenges imposed on us with social distancing and other radical approaches to stopping the spread of the disease. Insights Into Entertainment: Episode 58 "Surviving Social Distancing"

Disney World is in the news this week doing their part to help through the current crisis by donating foot to a local food bank. Then we’ll give you some ways to pass the time at home with some virtual rides of Disney’s popular parks. We’ll look at Abigail Disney’s reaction to masses of people flocking to Disney parks before their closure to combat the virus. And Disney releases Onward for digital download early to help the folks at home get through these troubled times.

In Star Wars Insights we take a look at the revival of a much beloved character moving from animation to real live action in the upcoming season of The Mandalorian and who has been picked to play the role.

Entertainment news highlights what TV’s fictional hospitals are doing to help combat the spread of the virus. We’ve also got an update on the copyright suit against Katy Perry and Universal Pictures gets into the spirit of giving as it drops some of their content for early on demand streaming for home viewers.

Insights Into Entertainment: Episode 57 "Coping with COVID-19"

This week we can’t avoid talking about the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact it is having across all industries and around the world has had a significant impact on the entertainment industry. From the shuttering of shows on Broadway, to Disney closing down their parks to various television shows currently in production around the world shutting down and sending their cast home the impact is huge.

We also take a look at a few ways to get your entertainment fix even with so much shut down and with so many people facing some degree of isolation due to the pandemic. The current emergency is scary and far reaching, but we will see this through and come out of it stronger and hopefully somewhat entertained during the process.
