- The Untold History of the Iconic Wallpaper in Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion
- https://www.hunker.com/13717382/the-untold-history-of-the-iconic-wallpaper-in-disneylands-haunted-mansion?fbclid=IwAR1-6q-JJO6UcNgE3PUUYXuC77tY8T-_k2l8GPRKPTst4R0dP615_h-E7QY

- Since opening its doors in 1969, 14 years after Disneyland began welcoming visitors, the Haunted Mansion has become a topic of fascination for fans of old-school Disney facts and lore. There are the urban legends, of course (that the house is haunted by real ghosts), but it’s the insane attention to detail — “999 happy haunts,” to be exact — that makes it one of the most immersive and transporting experiences in amusement park history. It’s also one of the last things Walt Disney worked on before he died, so for some, it represents a final connection to his creative spirit.
- But of all the Haunted Mansion’s details, only the black-and-purple wallpaper — which at first appears to be simply an oversize damask, but upon closer look is revealed to comprise creepy clusters of eyes — has attained true cult status. Guillermo del Toro reportedly has a reproduction in his home; Etsy offers everything from phone cases to umbrellas sporting versions of the print. “It’s really become a symbol of the Mansion,” says Jason Surrell, author of The Haunted Mansion: Imagineering a Disney Classic, and a former senior show writer for Walt Disney Imagineering. Most people gravitate toward it, he believes, because the design is “striking, iconic in its own right.” But for a certain subset, it represents something else: “The wallpaper, it’s one of those subtle things. It’s a way you can subtly express your fandom … it’s like a secret code for coolness,” he explains.
- But for all the infatuation surrounding the wallpaper, its origins remain relatively unexplored. Many credit Marc Davis — one of the Imagineers who worked on the Haunted Mansion — as its maker. That’s not the case — which brings us back to Rolly Crump. Crump, now in his late eighties, is the last remaining designer who worked on the ride. He lives in a modest condo in Oceanside that doesn’t fully reflect his colorful career or his star status among worshippers of the Church of Disney. Only a few of his illustrations line his home’s walls; he sold almost all of his expansive collection of art and memorabilia in a 2018 auction.
- Crump’s artistic style is distinctive: it can sometimes feel like a midcentury-circus-Tiki dream with lots of detailed embellishments, elongated figures, and a tendency to embrace the off-kilter, the taboo, the weird. It’s what first caught Disney’s attention when he saw Crump’s work in the company’s Animation department.
- “I had had a show in the library at the Disney studio and that show was marijuana posters,” Crump remembers. The illustrations on display there were like old-timey advertisements for pot — one read “imported by Stoned and Co.” When he heard that Disney himself had wandered into his gallery, Crump panicked. “Oh my god … did he read the posters?” he wondered. “Yes,” said the woman running the library. “And he laughed!”
- Crump’s transition from Animation to WED (the branch that would ultimately become Imagineering) happened quickly, and in 1959, he was brought in to work on the Haunted Mansion, which had already been in development for at least two years.
- But what that meant at the time wasn’t quite clear. “They decided to put Yale Gracie, who was a background illustrator, and I, together in a big room up at the studio to work on the Mansion. And so Yale and I sat up there and I said, ‘Well, what do we do?’ and Yale said, ‘Well, I dunno!’ Because there was no given thing to do. It was just: ‘Work on some stuff for the Mansion.'”
- Ultimately, there was a point of disagreement among the team. “At that time,” says Crump, “a lot of different people started getting involved with [the development] — the architecture, the look, the interiors.” In one camp were the Imagineers who wanted the ride to be fun. In the other were those looking to create a scary experience. Crump was firmly seated in the latter.
- He started doing random sketches, taking inspiration from the 1946 French movie, Beauty and the Beast. “I fell in love with that film because they had human parts in the rooms … there would be these human arms [acting as] torches. I thought, ‘Shit that’s good stuff,’ because it was imaginative and surreal, and so I started leaning in that direction.”
- These drawings — of things like a melty-looking man whose arms were candelabra, a gypsy wagon, a man-eating plant — led to a concept that was never realized: the Museum of the Weird. It was to be a transitional space at the ride’s exit featuring Crump’s illusions and creations, an idea, he says, he can’t take credit for. That was all Disney: “You know, Walt always took everything we did to the next level. Nobody really realizes that Walt was really behind damn near everything we did. Once he got a kind of inkling of the project we were working on, he immediately saw it finished. So as we were starting to execute it, all of a sudden you realize, well, he knew what the hell we were doing.”
- At the time of Disney’s death in 1966, two designers, Claude Coats and Marc Davis, were working on completing the Mansion. Over the years and leading up to the attraction’s opening, the team was pulling inspiration for the look of the house from a book by Frances Lichten called Decorative Art of Victoria’s Era, and as you flip through the pages, you see how the book directly impacted the Mansion’s design. For starters, in a section on cast iron motifs, there’s a picture of the Shipley-Lydecker house, which the team replicated with frightening exactness. (The original home in Baltimore is no longer standing, in case you’re wondering.) Lichten’s book also features multiple examples of rooms with damask prints and wallpapers.
- When the team finally got around to creating a wallpaper for that section of the ride, Coats worked off of an illustration Crump had done for the Museum of the Weird — what Crump calls the “plant man” — and positioned it in a pattern that feels very directly inspired by Victorian-era damask. “What Claude had done was found all my sketches and traced them. And made wallpaper out of them,” says Crump.
- Was he angry about his designs being repurposed? No. “That type of thing happened all the time. I did the original paintings in the stretch elevator and Marc [Davis] came to me one day and said, ‘I’m going to redo those stretch paintings, yours were no good.’ At that time, I thought he’d do a better job at them anyway.”
- As for the wallpaper in the Mansion’s foyer before the elevator, which is also beloved by Disney fans: That’s a reproduction of a Christopher Dresser design produced by Bradbury & Bradbury Art Wallpapers. The company’s wallpapers, by the way, are used throughout Disney properties worldwide, mostly in the Main Street stores, a representative told Hunker over email. (FYI for anyone hoping to actually wallpaper their home in the Mansion’s purple design, you’re out of luck. Surrell says that there’s likely no hidden storage unit with rolls of Haunted Mansion wallpaper waiting around for ride refurbishment. “Things like that are just generated new,” he explains.)
- But it’s Crump’s work that has truly given the Mansion definition. After all, his wallpaper appears in Mansion rides in Disney parks in Florida, Tokyo, and Paris (even though Disneyland Paris’s Phantom Manor has a completely different plot). “That’s kind of a testament to the wallpaper being a touchstone, being an iconic element of the Haunted Mansion,” Surrell says. “Even though a number of other things were changed, adapted, and evolved, they kept that wallpaper exact.”

- At a time when people haven’t been inside Disneyland in almost a year, and many others are choosing not to travel to Walt Disney World as the pandemic continues, there’s a new way for people to connect with the parks that’s never been available before.
- It’s all just one download away.
- When someone told me that the official Disney Parks TikTok was worth checking out, I was skeptical. More than that, I dismissed it out of hand. With my status as an “elder millennial” and my already excessive screen time, I avoid new social media at all costs. I had Snapchat on my phone for about 24 hours before an exasperated intern at my old job, trying and failing to explain the point to me yet again, said “yeah, you probably shouldn’t use this.”
- But then one day, there it was, a video of something I had been dreaming of for years: the secret suite inside Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World. I watched that TikTok probably 20 times in a row. Unlike the infinite scrolling of Instagram, TikTok’s videos are on an infinite loop. As soon as the narrator says, “And when it’s time to check out, we’re not going to give you the boot, but we’ll give you a glass slipper,” the video loops back to the beginning, showing the pumpkin carriage inlaid mosaic on the floor of the hallway as you enter the room.
- Each time I watched, I searched the edges of the frame for something different, like the twinkling night sky painted over the oversized soaking tub near the “throne room” in the bathroom. Access like this to the suite, originally built as Disney family lodging and opened to outsiders in 2007, hasn’t been available before this. The suite is unrentable — there are rumors Disney has turned down upwards of $40,000 for just one night in the room — and is very rarely accessible to the public save for a handful of invitation-only tours.
- All it took was that one video, which instantly went so viral that it got a feature in Travel + Leisure, for me to see that the Disney Parks TikTok is doing something different from the normal Disney content on other platforms, which typically feels polished with corporate approval. That TikTok video clips off the end of the last word as it loops back around, and the narrator is very clearly a regular person and not someone who has spent years in elocution classes.
- But that’s also why it works. Vulture has called TikTok “the best medium for our absurdist present,” making the argument that usage of the app has exploded over the past year because the content is necessarily raw and unpolished, made mostly by regular people who are stuck at home. “What other medium truly nailed the essence of 2020’s mania?” Zoe Haylock writes. “No sanitized, COVID-bubble production set could capture the vibrating anxiety, unrelenting boredom, and contagious creativity that quarantine bred” the way that the platform does.
- The Disney Parks channel launched this past September, and has that same energy and creativity of regular users. Just after launching, a user commented “send someone to check on the ducks at Disneyland,” and the response was a video of those ducks living their best lives in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and splashing around in the lake in the middle of Disney California Adventure. What followed shortly after was a clip showing the horses of Disneyland doing costume changes at the Circle D Ranch. (They haven’t reported on Disneyland’s cats, but we know they’re fine, too.)
- Since then, the channel has shown videos of how the legendary beignets at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen are made, and given a tour of Walt Disney’s apartment over the fire station in Disneyland, where a lamp is always on in his memory (which yes, has been on while the park has been closed.)
- Something as simple as a video recorded in October of someone’s Mickey Croc-clad feet walking up to the castle in Disneyland – something no one else can do right now – has been viewed over 275,000 times.
- The one channel serves all of Disney’s parks, so there are also videos of newborn animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, like this week-old baby giraffe, and a preview of the forthcoming Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride in Epcot.
- But there’s an evolution happening here that’s interesting to watch, and it goes beyond showing off whatever the seasonal churro is on Buena Vista Street. (It’s fluffernutter right now, and you really should try it.)
- There is an audience on TikTok that is vastly larger than American home television viewership. According to TechCrunch, 6 million American households canceled paid TV in 2020, bringing the number of subscribers to just over 31 million. There are over 800 million users on this platform. So while I wasn’t expecting to see Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski’s “We’re going to Disney World!” video, a 2021 iteration of what used to be the most iconic of all the iconic Super Bowl commercials, it made sense that it’s on TikTok. A lot of viewers who added plays to its over 300,000 views, like me, wouldn’t see it any other way.

- Lucasfilm’s Gina Carano Replacement Plan
- https://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/ent/gina-carano-replacement.html
- http://bit.ly/3qX2wbA
- Lucasfilm has a plan when it comes to dealing with the removal and replacement of Gina Carano who played the character of Cara Dune on the Disney+ hit series The Mandalorian.
- According to insider Daniel Richtman on his Patreon page, Lucasfilm is planning to replace Gina Carano’s character Cara Dune in the upcoming series Rangers of the New Republic with another strong female lead. Richtman is light on further details but this does seem to confirm that Cara Dune was set to be the lead of Rangers of the New Republic.
- Does this rumor mean Lucasfilm has already found a replacement for Gina Carano? Does it mean they are currently in search of a strong female lead? We have so many questions here. How will this affect The Mandalorian and how will it also affect Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, a show that expected to have Gina Carano lead the way.
- As far as The Mandalorian, many think it fairly simple to write out the Cara Dune character. While she was a hit when she appeared, her presence wasn’t necessary, and it isn’t like she was a main cog in The Mandalorian wheel. She was used sparingly at best. As Season 2 came to a conclusion – a season in which Carano didn’t even appear until the fourth episode – Dune didn’t have any major storylines left hanging so omitting her altogether or even bringing in another actor to play Dune shouldn’t be a difficult a task. But then there’s Rangers of the New Republic.
- As Season 2 unfolded, we saw Captain Carson Teva attempt to recruit Dune to the New Republic in order to help fight the remnants of the Empire. As the show pointed out, Dune carries much rage against the Empire after they destroyed her home planet of Alderaan. Dune never gave Teva a definite answer, but this was supposedly the setup for Rangers of the New Republic. In fact, according to The Hollywood Reporter sources, “Lucasfilm planned to unveil Carano as the star of her own show during a December investor’s day presentation but scrapped those plans following her November tweets.” This same outlet has also reported that Lucasfilm has no immediate plans to recast the Cara Dune role.
- If the studio does decide to recast Gina Carano’s Cara dune, there is definitely an actress that seems to be gaining steam with fans. Right now, Lucy Lawless seems to be the frontrunner. The 52-year-old actress has plenty of experience kicking ass from Xena: Warrior Princess to Battlestar Galactica to most recently Ash vs. Evil Dead. One could easily see Lawless taking over the Cara Dune role.

- Looking to fill in some gaps in the Star Wars story? Here’s where to start with the canon books.
- Star Wars has a rich history of tie-in stories, from somber explorations of space politics to weird, goofy adventure. Disney’s revamped canon has been in place for almost ten years, since 2012. The first novel in the new canon, 2014’s A New Dawn, realigned the books with what Lucasfilm would eventually do with the Sequel Trilogy under the new ownership.
- If you want to read the canon books in chronological order, where do you start? And where do they fit with regards to the movies? This list includes both adult and YA novels, and does not include audio dramas, direct movie adaptations, or middle grade books. Reading all of the books in chronological order is a big endeavor, especially since more come out every year. Whether you want to start at the beginning or jump around depending on what era you care about, here’s our guide to what’s what…
- Before the Prequels
- If you’re starting to read in order, The High Republic series is first up. This ongoing series is set about 200 years before anything else. Since the Sith haven’t yet risen to power, it’s an opportunity to show the Jedi at their heyday and the Republic free of corruption. Start with Light of the Jedi, the kickoff, but this series is meant to be able to be read in any order.
- Next, two books set up the characters in the Prequel trilogy: Master & Apprentice follows Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, detailing Jedi philosophy and where Qui-Gon and others try to sway or bend it. Queen’s Peril shows how Padmé met her handmaidens and shaped them into the spies and warriors seen in the next movie…
- The Prequel Era
- Continuing Padmé’s adventures, Queen’s Shadow shows the teenage queen’s transition to galactic senator. It answers some questions about how the galaxy’s politics work and shows the very beginnings of the Rebellion.
- The Rogue One prequel Catalyst sets up some of the major players in the formation of the Death Star project, forming a backdrop for the movie with author James Luceno’s typical knack for pulling together disparate parts of canon into a consistent whole.
- The Thrawn Ascendancy series (two books currently with a third on the way), takes place mostly in the far-off Chiss empire. While mostly a vehicle for Sherlock Holmes-style mysteries in the type of space war that made Grand Admiral Thrawn a famous Legends character, these books also connect to what some major human characters were doing during the Clone Wars.
- Dark Disciple is an artifact of the period where it seemed The Clone Wars would never come back to the screen. Based on unused scripts for the TV show, it follows the fate of dark Force user Asajj Ventress.
- After Revenge, But Before Hope
- After the fall of the Jedi, the galaxy becomes a harsher place. Dominated by evil characters like Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, it’s time for stories of the Empire like Lords of the Sith. Vader’s right-hand man gets his own backstory in Tarkin.
- But all is not lost: the novel Ahsoka follows the former Jedi into the very early days of the Rebellion as she makes new friendships and works to save a world from destruction. Street kids Han and Qi’Ra start their respective journeys through the galactic criminal underworld in Most Wanted. It’s a direct prequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story.
- As the dark reign of the Empire continues, the good guys try to piece what’s left of their alliance together. A New Dawn, a prequel to the Star Wars Rebels animated series, shows how Jedi-in-hiding Kanan Jarrus met Rebel pilot and spy Hera Syndulla. They’ll both be major players in this era and beyond outside the movies. This book also introduces Rae Sloane, an Imperial commander who is at the center of many of the developments that lead from the Empire to the First Order in the Sequel Trilogy. Two heroes of the Rebellion, Jyn Erso and Princess Leia, get YA backstories in Rebel Rising and Leia: Princess of Alderaan respectively.
- One of the most well-regarded books in this era is Lost Stars, which spans the galactic civil war and follows completely original characters. A star-crossed love story, it starts before the Original Trilogy and continues beyond the end.
- The Original Trilogy
- Many of the books in this era span multiple movies, so we’ve erred on the side of Wookieepedia and luted the books by where they start. Battlefront II: Inferno Squad follows Imperial commando Iden Versio and her team — also the main characters of the Battlefront II (2017) video game campaign — through Imperial action and some changes of heart.
- A relatively little-known title, Heir to the Jedi follows Luke Skywalker as he tries to piece together what it means to be a Jedi. Published in 2015, it’s one of the earlier books in the Disney reboot.
- After Return of the Jedi
- The era between the Original and Sequel trilogies is perhaps the richest when it comes to books filling in the gaps between the movies. With about 30 years in between, there’s plenty of time. And the books have the chance to answer some major questions: How did the galaxy fare with the former Rebellion, now a New Republic, at its head? And why did that New Republic become ripe for attack from a relatively unknown threat in the First Order?
- The Aftermath series maps this era out, establishing that Emperor Palpatine initiated the Operation Cinder mass destruction plan after the moment of his death. Detailing some of the political struggles on both the New Republic and Imperial sides, it continues Rae Sloane’s story and establishes some hints as to what the First Order grew from. The Battle of Jakku is a key moment in this era, marking the formal victory of the New Republic over the remnants of the Empire.
- The Alphabet Squadron series is military fiction set in the New Republic, using the concepts set up in Aftermath as a backdrop for a much smaller scale story. Former Imperial Yrica Quell and Hera try, and sometimes fail, to keep a volatile band of pilots together against an elite Imperial squadron.
- A tie-in to Solo, the novel Last Shot bounces between this era and the Imperial era to show Han Solo and Lando Calrissian’s clash against a criminal with some dangerous tech.
- The young adult adventure Poe Dameron: Free Fall fills in the backstory of the titular character, including explaining how he met the drug runners from The Rise of Skywalker.
- Bloodline is another major pushpin in the timeline, exploring Leia Organa’s role in the New Republic senate and how dissent there paved the way for the First Order. A brief appearance of a very young Ben Solo is also a point of distinction.
- The Sequel Trilogy
- One of several tie-ins created around the opening of the Disney Parks, Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire throws readers into the conflict between the Resistance (a splinter group of the New Republic, now all that’s left of it) and the Imperial-derived First Order.
- Resistance Reborn explains where some of the pilots making up The Rise of Skywalker‘s climatic battle came from, but it’s also a sort of capstone on the post-Original Trilogy era of books, pulling on a lot of story threads from Bloodline. Leia, Rey, Poe, Finn, and Rose search for allies in the brief period between the two final films.
- A Crash of Fate is another Galaxy’s Edge tie-in, this one a teen romance set in and around the park’s in-universe setting.
- None of the books have ventured past Episode IX yet. Right now, Star Wars publishing is focusing on expanding the High Republic and the era between the Original and Sequel trilogies, including a mysterious upcoming novel about The Mandalorian. With the new canon here to stay, there’s surely a lot more to come.

- Stevie Wonder Tells Oprah He Is Permanently Moving to Ghana to Protect Grandchildren from Injustice
- https://people.com/music/stevie-wonder-wants-to-permanently-move-toghana/
- http://bit.ly/2O7IzAa
- Stevie Wonder is heading to West Africa for a profound reason.
- During a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, the 25-time Grammy-winner, 70, opened up about his future plans to live in Ghana indefinitely — as part of his efforts to shield his lineage of grandchildren and great grandchildren from racial injustice in the U.S.
- “I wanna see this nation smile again,” he told Oprah, 67. “And I want to see it before I leave to travel to move to Ghana, because I’m going to do that.”
- When asked if he plans to relocate permanently, the star replied, “I am, because I don’t want to see my children’s children’s children have to say, ‘Oh, please like me. Please respect me. Please know that I am important. Please value me.’ What kinda [life is that]?”
- The star’s decision may be influenced by a number of reasons — but it is often said that living in majority Black regions gives Black individuals a sense of safety, confidence, liberation and pride. Many argue that within the U.S., attending HBCUs (historically Black colleges and universities) gives American Black students the same feelings.
- Wonder has been considering moving to Ghana since as early as 1994, per the Orlando Sentinel. At the time, the “I Just Called to Say I Love You” hitmaker told a Washington gathering of the International Association of African American Music that he had fallen in love with the country and “there’s more of a sense of community there.”
- Last month, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. day, the musician wrote an emotional letter to the late civil rights leader and addressed the lack of racial advancement since the fight for equality, which began in the U.S. in the mid-1950s.
- “Dear Dr. King, I met you when I was 14 years of age,” he began. “You were a true hero and you became an inspiration.”
- Wonder later said, “It is painful to know that needle has not moved one iota. For 36 years, we’ve had a national holiday honoring your birthday and principles, yet you would not believe the lack of progress. It makes me physically sick. I am sick of politicians trying to find an easy solution to a 400-year problem.”
- The vocalist concluded his letter with a call-to-action for “all those in the Senate to speak truth to what they know they can physically see and begin the steps towards accountability, forgiveness and then healing.”
- MCU Might Be Getting Major Casting Shake-Up
- https://insidethemagic.net/2021/02/agents-of-shield-return-ct1/?fbclid=IwAR2BYli4ixjmUt4GMJbW_LS_DkWaK3b_teZNS-y2zLk5ssjxCTl2KUtAxaE

- The latest casting rumor surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe has fans of Agents of SHIELD shaking with excitement. The speculation that Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Quake/ Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) could return to the MCU later this year.
- Reports originated on Fandomwire.com, saying:
- “[We can] exclusively reveal that Clark Gregg’s Agent Phil Coulson and Chloe Bennet’s Daisy Johnson aka Quake are returning to the MCU for an upcoming project on Disney+! While we couldn’t exactly confirm which series they will appear in, all signs have been pointing to Secret Invasion, which is currently in production.”
- Secret Invasion does seem the most likely project for the return of the fan-favorite Coulson, as it will also feature former SHIELD Director Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson). It will follow the comic book storyline of the same name and revolve around the infiltration of the shape-shifting aliens, the Skrulls. Ben Mendelsohn will also reprise his Captain Marvel role as the Skrull refugee, Talos.
- Agents of SHIELD aired its final episode in August 2020 and star Chloe Bennet has been very vocal about wanting to return to the role of Daisy Johnson. Rumors about her coming back have been circling almost since the end of the show, but at times, felt like a bit of a long shot since Agents of SHIELD had existed somewhat separate from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by the end of its run.
- In a recent TCA panel on the set of Ms. Marvel, set to debut later this year on Disney +, Kevin Feige was asked about the possible return of Agents of SHIELD characters. While he did not confirm the rumors, he also did not outright deny them. Eric Goldman, the current managing editor of Fandom.com who attended the panel, said Feige’s response was simply: “There are often rumors that are true and there are often rumors that are not.”
- Even though Agents of SHIELD has not been off the air for long, a lot happened in its little corner of the MCU over the course of its seven seasons. The series followed a small team of SHIELD agents, led by Coulson, investigating mysterious events all over the world – not unlike what a potential WandaVision spinoff starring FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) might look like.
- Here are some of the main parts of Agents of SHIELD that fans need to know if either Coulson or Quake show up in Secret Invasion:
- The first season found Coulson miraculously alive after being run through by Loki’s scepter in Avengers (2012). Essentially, he was brought back to life using the blood of a Kree, those blue aliens from Captain Marvel (2019). With a new lease on life, he recruits a hacker named Skye to join SHIELD and help them protect the world.
- Shenanigans ensue involving everything from evil robots, digital realities, Ghost Rider and the demonic book known as the DarkHold, which may have been retconned in the latest episode of WandaVision. Skye is revealed to actually be Daisy Johnson, the daughter of a powerful inhuman. After Daisy is exposed to Terrigen Mist, she develops the ability to create vibrations similar to earthquakes that she harnesses using mechanical gauntlets.
- The final season found Coulson and crew traveling through time before the events of Avengers: Endgame (2020). Coulson was dead, again, and his consciousness downloaded into a Life Model Decoy (LMD). After setting the time stream right, the agents retire and go their separate ways. Coulson stayed on Earth, while Daisy went into space to explore the cosmos.
- How they can possibly fit into Secret Invasion or another Disney + project is still up in the air. But fans of Agents of SHIELD are definitely excited for their return. It is also a sign that the MCU might be willing to work in more of the characters from the expanded universe back into the fold. Such as Netflix’s Daredevil star Charlie Cox, who is rumored to appear in Spider-Man 3.

- To All the Boys is a series of American teenage romance films, based on the trilogy of novels of the same name written by Jenny Han. Starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo in the central roles, the plot centers around Lara Jean Song-Covey (Condor), a shy teenager who writes five letters — ones she never planned to send — to boys that she has had crushes on. The films show her experiences after the letters are received by the young men.
- The series is produced by Netflix and released exclusively through its streaming services. The first film, released in 2018 was critically acclaimed, and became one of the company’s most-viewed original films. Following its success, Netflix quickly began developing the two sequels, released in 2020 and 2021 respectively, both of which received positive reviews from critics.

0:00:54.640,0:01:01.039
99 holy moly papering over
0:00:58.000,0:01:03.840
the past i’m your host joseph whalen
0:01:01.039,0:01:05.119
and my creative and motivated co-host
0:01:03.840,0:01:07.840
michelle whelan
0:01:05.119,0:01:09.760
hi everyone technically this is our
0:01:07.840,0:01:12.159
100th episode
0:01:09.760,0:01:13.119
this is all lies since we started
0:01:12.159,0:01:16.960
numbering
0:01:13.119,0:01:17.680
episode zero for our pilot um but next
0:01:16.960,0:01:21.040
week will be
0:01:17.680,0:01:22.240
our official episode 100. and it’ll be a
0:01:21.040,0:01:25.280
little bit special
0:01:22.240,0:01:28.240
and we have a little bit uh
0:01:25.280,0:01:29.360
what are we doing we’re doing uh like a
0:01:28.240,0:01:32.159
get to know us
0:01:29.360,0:01:33.759
get to know us right if you care if not
0:01:32.159,0:01:35.360
just skip that episode yeah just go on
0:01:33.759,0:01:36.320
to 101 then if you really don’t want to
0:01:35.360,0:01:38.479
know anything about us
0:01:36.320,0:01:39.439
now we are we are going to showcase some
0:01:38.479,0:01:41.439
of our
0:01:39.439,0:01:42.960
unique items in our individual
0:01:41.439,0:01:45.439
collections
0:01:42.960,0:01:48.320
talk about a little bit of our
0:01:45.439,0:01:51.920
collectible past our pop
0:01:48.320,0:01:55.600
culture culture cred i guess sure
0:01:51.920,0:01:58.799
why we think we’re pop culture
0:01:55.600,0:02:00.550
fanatics i guess that’s maybe yeah give
0:01:58.799,0:02:02.399
a little bit of a checking account
0:02:00.550,0:02:05.759
[Laughter]
0:02:02.399,0:02:09.200
yeah spend enough on it yeah
0:02:05.759,0:02:10.720
yeah so but that’s next week this week
0:02:09.200,0:02:12.319
we’re going to be talking in our disney
0:02:10.720,0:02:15.599
detective about the
0:02:12.319,0:02:18.190
untold history of the iconic wallpaper
0:02:15.599,0:02:19.920
in the haunted mansion
0:02:18.190,0:02:23.920
[Music]
0:02:19.920,0:02:26.720
yes i i put on a shirt specifically
0:02:23.920,0:02:28.480
with wallpaper well and you have your
0:02:26.720,0:02:29.680
your jewelry that you received for your
0:02:28.480,0:02:32.640
birthday i did
0:02:29.680,0:02:34.000
we have our jewelry box switch to that
0:02:32.640,0:02:36.640
shop there
0:02:34.000,0:02:37.599
we have the jewelry box with another
0:02:36.640,0:02:40.080
your bracelet
0:02:37.599,0:02:41.360
accessory that i was going to wear and
0:02:40.080,0:02:44.640
yeah took that off
0:02:41.360,0:02:46.239
too loud not meant for a podcast
0:02:44.640,0:02:48.400
that wouldn’t work out so well right
0:02:46.239,0:02:50.640
right uh what else we got so we’re going
0:02:48.400,0:02:51.840
to be talking about the disney’s newest
0:02:50.640,0:02:53.760
platform
0:02:51.840,0:02:55.280
that gives people access to hidden
0:02:53.760,0:02:58.319
places in disney world
0:02:55.280,0:02:59.920
and disneyland then in our
0:02:58.319,0:03:01.760
tales from the edge of the galaxy
0:02:59.920,0:03:05.120
lucasfilm’s possible
0:03:01.760,0:03:06.959
gina carrara replacement plan
0:03:05.120,0:03:09.680
sounds like a equipment replacement plan
0:03:06.959,0:03:13.040
when i break a phone
0:03:09.680,0:03:15.840
use this upgrade into that it’s all good
0:03:13.040,0:03:17.280
we’ll also talk star wars books we’ll
0:03:15.840,0:03:20.480
look at a guide to
0:03:17.280,0:03:21.840
canon novels in the chronological order
0:03:20.480,0:03:23.840
and we’re not going to go through all of
0:03:21.840,0:03:25.680
them because that’s a whole podcast
0:03:23.840,0:03:27.840
probably
0:03:25.680,0:03:29.440
just for for itself so we’ll we’ll
0:03:27.840,0:03:31.760
briefly talk about that
0:03:29.440,0:03:33.599
sounds good and then in our
0:03:31.760,0:03:36.159
entertainment news
0:03:33.599,0:03:37.280
some news from stevie wonder about
0:03:36.159,0:03:40.720
moving to ghana
0:03:37.280,0:03:41.519
for some disturbing but legitimate
0:03:40.720,0:03:44.480
reasons
0:03:41.519,0:03:46.560
yeah uh then the mcu might be getting a
0:03:44.480,0:03:49.920
major casting shake up
0:03:46.560,0:03:52.000
maybe possibly hopefully what that has
0:03:49.920,0:03:54.000
uh then we have a couple of interesting
0:03:52.000,0:03:55.920
uh insightful picks this week
0:03:54.000,0:03:58.319
one that had to be heavily censored for
0:03:55.920,0:03:58.319
the show
0:03:58.840,0:04:01.840
um
0:04:04.959,0:04:11.200
uh anyway bitter
0:04:08.080,0:04:11.840
never so before we get into that i do
0:04:11.200,0:04:14.879
want to
0:04:11.840,0:04:15.439
plug the show real quick and ask that

they go live
0:04:46.560,0:04:50.400

0:04:49.440,0:04:53.040
out on the
0:04:50.400,0:04:54.800
right unless you happen to be watching
0:04:53.040,0:04:56.639
us while we’re streaming
0:04:54.800,0:04:58.000
which is really hard because we never
0:04:56.639,0:05:00.560
showed you the same time
0:04:58.000,0:05:01.360
we tried we really did we we had a
0:05:00.560,0:05:03.680

0:05:08.560,0:05:12.639
yeah yours is usually afternoon then we
0:05:11.360,0:05:14.880
do teens in the morning
0:05:12.639,0:05:16.960
and then when we do our monthly podcast
0:05:14.880,0:05:19.280
for tomorrow that’s randomly at any time
0:05:16.960,0:05:20.479
right saturday or sunday depending on
0:05:19.280,0:05:22.560
the day exactly
0:05:20.479,0:05:24.240
yeah except for next week by the way we
0:05:22.560,0:05:26.720
are shooting ahead of schedule
0:05:24.240,0:05:28.240
for teens that is true uh because we’re
0:05:26.720,0:05:30.000
having a special guest who was not
0:05:28.240,0:05:31.759
available over the weekend so we’ll be
0:05:30.000,0:05:33.360
shooting live actually during the week
0:05:31.759,0:05:36.000
and recording the show during the week
0:05:33.360,0:05:36.960

0:06:12.720,0:06:20.160
are we ready to get into it sure all
0:06:14.880,0:06:27.039
right let’s do it
0:06:20.160,0:06:29.919
[Music]
0:06:27.039,0:06:30.560
go for disney detective so this was an
0:06:29.919,0:06:34.319
interesting
0:06:30.560,0:06:34.880
uh little history uh story that that
0:06:34.319,0:06:38.639
popped up
0:06:34.880,0:06:41.840
on hunker.com and it was basically the
0:06:38.639,0:06:44.800
untold story of the iconic wallpaper
0:06:41.840,0:06:47.360
at disneyland’s haunted mansion so since
0:06:44.800,0:06:50.080
opening its doors in 1969
0:06:47.360,0:06:52.080
14 years after disneyland began
0:06:50.080,0:06:55.039
welcoming guests
0:06:52.080,0:06:56.800
the haunted mansion became a topic of
0:06:55.039,0:07:00.000
fascination for fans of
0:06:56.800,0:07:00.720
old school disney facts and lore there’s
0:07:00.000,0:07:03.759
obviously
0:07:00.720,0:07:06.479
tons of urban legends about it you know
0:07:03.759,0:07:07.759
um that the house is actually haunted by
0:07:06.479,0:07:10.880
real ghosts
0:07:07.759,0:07:11.840
um but it was the you know attention to
0:07:10.880,0:07:14.960
detail
0:07:11.840,0:07:17.680
the 999 happy haunts to be exact that
0:07:14.960,0:07:20.720
makes it one of the most immersive
0:07:17.680,0:07:23.520
and you know exciting
0:07:20.720,0:07:25.599
experiences in amusement park history
0:07:23.520,0:07:27.680
it’s also one of the last things that
0:07:25.599,0:07:30.479
walt disney actually worked on
0:07:27.680,0:07:32.800
before he had passed away so for some it
0:07:30.479,0:07:36.319
represents a final connection
0:07:32.800,0:07:38.880
to his creative spirit get it ha spirit
0:07:36.319,0:07:40.240
um but of course you know there’s all
0:07:38.880,0:07:42.479
the the detail
0:07:40.240,0:07:44.400
you know within the haunted mansion but
0:07:42.479,0:07:47.680
the one that kind of
0:07:44.400,0:07:50.720
um you know is the most
0:07:47.680,0:07:51.680
iconic i guess is the black and purple
0:07:50.720,0:07:55.840
wallpaper
0:07:51.680,0:07:59.599
which it first you know appeared to be
0:07:55.840,0:08:01.199
um you know uh um looked like an
0:07:59.599,0:08:03.280
oversized mask
0:08:01.199,0:08:06.720
but when you actually look at it it’s
0:08:03.280,0:08:09.120
comprised of creepy clusters of eyes
0:08:06.720,0:08:10.400
um and it’s actually mainta you know
0:08:09.120,0:08:13.759
attained
0:08:10.400,0:08:14.960
cult status really um you know if you go
0:08:13.759,0:08:17.199
to etsy
0:08:14.960,0:08:18.800
you can find anything from phone cases
0:08:17.199,0:08:22.800
to umbrellas
0:08:18.800,0:08:23.759
um you know sporting various versions of
0:08:22.800,0:08:27.039
the print
0:08:23.759,0:08:29.759
um jason cyril who was the author of
0:08:27.039,0:08:30.400
the haunted mansion imagining a disney
0:08:29.759,0:08:33.760
classic
0:08:30.400,0:08:35.919
and also a former senior show writer for
0:08:33.760,0:08:39.760
walt disney imagineering had said
0:08:35.919,0:08:40.880
it’s become a real symbol of the mansion
0:08:39.760,0:08:43.120
um he said
0:08:40.880,0:08:44.800
you know most people gravitate towards
0:08:43.120,0:08:46.800
it and he believes
0:08:44.800,0:08:49.040
um you know it’s because it has this
0:08:46.800,0:08:51.200
striking icon of its
0:08:49.040,0:08:52.320
you know of its own and that the
0:08:51.200,0:08:55.839
wallpaper
0:08:52.320,0:08:56.240
it’s so subtle but yet it expresses so
0:08:55.839,0:08:58.480
much
0:08:56.240,0:09:00.240
fandom and it’s almost like a secret
0:08:58.480,0:09:03.040
code for coolness
0:09:00.240,0:09:04.560
and what’s really kind of funny is
0:09:03.040,0:09:06.160
people that
0:09:04.560,0:09:08.000
don’t know that it’s related to the
0:09:06.160,0:09:11.279
honda mansion just think oh okay
0:09:08.000,0:09:13.760
it is what it is but those that know
0:09:11.279,0:09:14.399
it is funny that it’s like this secret
0:09:13.760,0:09:16.800
code
0:09:14.399,0:09:18.480
i actually you know one of the various
0:09:16.800,0:09:21.839
masks that i have
0:09:18.480,0:09:24.000
um that i wear you know during this time
0:09:21.839,0:09:26.000
is the haunted mansion wallpaper
0:09:24.000,0:09:28.399
and when i went to a doctor’s
0:09:26.000,0:09:30.080
appointment the other day i didn’t even
0:09:28.399,0:09:31.680
you know think about i was just wearing
0:09:30.080,0:09:33.519
it and she was like oh i love your
0:09:31.680,0:09:36.240
haunted mansion mask
0:09:33.519,0:09:37.120
where somebody that’s not a fan of the
0:09:36.240,0:09:39.920
haunted mansion
0:09:37.120,0:09:41.760
wouldn’t know what it was so it was kind
0:09:39.920,0:09:44.160
of funny that they mentioned that
0:09:41.760,0:09:45.279
um in the article about it being this
0:09:44.160,0:09:48.640
you know
0:09:45.279,0:09:50.160
this uh secret code thing um but there’s
0:09:48.640,0:09:52.160
you know a lot of
0:09:50.160,0:09:54.000
back and forth and what this article
0:09:52.160,0:09:57.040
talks about is how
0:09:54.000,0:10:00.160
um it the idea for or
0:09:57.040,0:10:01.920
what ended up becoming the wallpaper for
0:10:00.160,0:10:05.200
the honda mansion was actually
0:10:01.920,0:10:09.120
a couple of different concepts that
0:10:05.200,0:10:11.519
were kind of thrown out from original
0:10:09.120,0:10:13.519
ideas from the museum of the weird which
0:10:11.519,0:10:15.600
was the original concept
0:10:13.519,0:10:17.120
for what they wanted the haunted mansion
0:10:15.600,0:10:20.320
to kind of
0:10:17.120,0:10:21.760
start out at um and the ideas were kind
0:10:20.320,0:10:24.959
of scrapped and a couple of
0:10:21.760,0:10:25.360
other artists came forward and took
0:10:24.959,0:10:27.760
little
0:10:25.360,0:10:28.720
pieces of it and kind of put it all
0:10:27.760,0:10:32.000
together
0:10:28.720,0:10:35.600
and then you know we have our iconic
0:10:32.000,0:10:38.320
uh wallpaper as it is now um
0:10:35.600,0:10:39.920
so it’s a really interesting article um
0:10:38.320,0:10:41.680
you know we’re not gonna go through
0:10:39.920,0:10:44.000
through all of it but you know it talks
0:10:41.680,0:10:46.240
about how you know there were
0:10:44.000,0:10:47.920
you know what the the different
0:10:46.240,0:10:50.079
inspirations were
0:10:47.920,0:10:51.680
um you know there were a lot of uh
0:10:50.079,0:10:54.399
victorian
0:10:51.680,0:10:55.200
type stylings that were coming in uh a
0:10:54.399,0:10:58.240
lot of
0:10:55.200,0:11:01.200
um hippie esque
0:10:58.240,0:11:01.920
you know um you know from from a lot of
0:11:01.200,0:11:05.519
the
0:11:01.920,0:11:06.560
the era of you know marijuana use and
0:11:05.519,0:11:09.279
and things like that
0:11:06.560,0:11:11.120
and the trippiness of it so it was all
0:11:09.279,0:11:13.360
these different things kind of
0:11:11.120,0:11:14.320
you know melding together to bring us
0:11:13.360,0:11:17.200
this iconic
0:11:14.320,0:11:17.519
wallpaper that again is is kind of like
0:11:17.200,0:11:20.560
the
0:11:17.519,0:11:21.360
the secret code fandom uh you know for
0:11:20.560,0:11:24.160
those that are
0:11:21.360,0:11:25.360
or fans of the honda mansion yeah that’s
0:11:24.160,0:11:28.640
it’s kind of cool and even
0:11:25.360,0:11:30.959
in the uh one of the later
0:11:28.640,0:11:31.839
uh revamps of the haunted mansion they
0:11:30.959,0:11:34.880
even had
0:11:31.839,0:11:35.920
sections as you went through at least in
0:11:34.880,0:11:37.120
disneyland i don’t know
0:11:35.920,0:11:38.959
at disney world i don’t know if they did
0:11:37.120,0:11:40.320
it in disneyland right right where they
0:11:38.959,0:11:42.160
had the eyes blinking
0:11:40.320,0:11:43.519
right special effect where the eyes were
0:11:42.160,0:11:47.040
blinking right
0:11:43.519,0:11:49.760
um so just sort of bringing it to life
0:11:47.040,0:11:50.959
even more right um and they’ve done
0:11:49.760,0:11:55.040
several remodels
0:11:50.959,0:11:57.040
on the mansions where they’ve in
0:11:55.040,0:11:58.720
the process of remodeling they’ve taken
0:11:57.040,0:12:00.079
the old wallpaper down they’ve put new
0:11:58.720,0:12:03.200
wallpaper out
0:12:00.079,0:12:07.200
and we were even able to obtain a
0:12:03.200,0:12:09.440
right a swatch of the original wallpaper
0:12:07.200,0:12:11.040
right from from one of the renovations
0:12:09.440,0:12:12.880
so that you actually have a framed
0:12:11.040,0:12:16.480
version right i do
0:12:12.880,0:12:19.680
so very iconic very cool very cool
0:12:16.480,0:12:21.760
so tell us how you can get access to
0:12:19.680,0:12:22.240
hidden places in disney world and land
0:12:21.760,0:12:25.360
now
0:12:22.240,0:12:28.720
so this was an article that came out in
0:12:25.360,0:12:32.160
the san francisco gate um
0:12:28.720,0:12:34.480
dot com um and the author
0:12:32.160,0:12:35.680
you know uh of this talks about you know
0:12:34.480,0:12:37.839
at a time when
0:12:35.680,0:12:38.959
people haven’t been inside disneyland in
0:12:37.839,0:12:41.040
almost a year
0:12:38.959,0:12:42.959
and many others are choosing not to
0:12:41.040,0:12:45.360
travel to walt disney world
0:12:42.959,0:12:47.760
as the pandemic continues there’s a new
0:12:45.360,0:12:50.480
way for people to connect to the park
0:12:47.760,0:12:52.639
that never have been able to before and
0:12:50.480,0:12:55.680
it’s just a download away
0:12:52.639,0:12:56.399
and it’s actually through the tick tock
0:12:55.680,0:13:00.160
app
0:12:56.399,0:13:03.360
so a lot of people have
0:13:00.160,0:13:03.680
been on tiktok for for a while now but
0:13:03.360,0:13:06.240
now
0:13:03.680,0:13:07.040
more and more companies are starting to
0:13:06.240,0:13:10.160
to
0:13:07.040,0:13:13.279
join because of you know an easy way to
0:13:10.160,0:13:16.959
to connect with their fans and
0:13:13.279,0:13:20.160
disney parks has set up a
0:13:16.959,0:13:23.279
um a channel on it uh
0:13:20.160,0:13:26.000
a a a profile and what’s interesting
0:13:23.279,0:13:26.639
is they’re posting behind the scenes
0:13:26.000,0:13:29.040
stuff
0:13:26.639,0:13:31.360
that they’ve never posted before so one
0:13:29.040,0:13:34.720
of their first videos that they posted
0:13:31.360,0:13:36.720
was of inside cinderella’s castle suite
0:13:34.720,0:13:38.000
so there have been couple of you know a
0:13:36.720,0:13:39.600
couple videos
0:13:38.000,0:13:42.320
um that they’ve done throughout the
0:13:39.600,0:13:44.160
years um when they had first renovated
0:13:42.320,0:13:47.360
it and when you could
0:13:44.160,0:13:49.360
uh win a night stay in
0:13:47.360,0:13:51.360
you know various uh sweepstakes that
0:13:49.360,0:13:52.560
they had well this was really kind of
0:13:51.360,0:13:55.839
the first time in a while
0:13:52.560,0:13:59.040
they had they did like a little tour um
0:13:55.839,0:14:01.199
the videos on on tick tock are
0:13:59.040,0:14:03.360
are as short as 15 seconds or up to a
0:14:01.199,0:14:06.480
minute long so not very long
0:14:03.360,0:14:08.800
and they do continuously loop um
0:14:06.480,0:14:10.560
so it’s kind of interesting within you
0:14:08.800,0:14:13.680
know this quick one minute
0:14:10.560,0:14:15.360
you get this you know uh tour of
0:14:13.680,0:14:17.360
something that you haven’t seen
0:14:15.360,0:14:18.959
so one of the things like i said was
0:14:17.360,0:14:21.600
they did the cinderella’s
0:14:18.959,0:14:22.160
uh royal suite so you got to see you
0:14:21.600,0:14:24.800
know
0:14:22.160,0:14:25.279
the bathroom and the bedroom and the
0:14:24.800,0:14:29.199
view
0:14:25.279,0:14:31.760
and and what it would look like at night
0:14:29.199,0:14:34.399
then a couple of people had posted hey
0:14:31.760,0:14:38.079
what about the disneyland ducks
0:14:34.399,0:14:40.000
um and some a cast member did a video
0:14:38.079,0:14:41.519
and they were going around showing yeah
0:14:40.000,0:14:42.399
this is how the ducks are everybody’s
0:14:41.519,0:14:45.120
okay
0:14:42.399,0:14:47.040
um and because of the park not being
0:14:45.120,0:14:50.639
open they’ve been able to go
0:14:47.040,0:14:53.600
and do behind the scenes videos
0:14:50.639,0:14:54.560
that most people again haven’t seen but
0:14:53.600,0:14:56.399
they’re also doing
0:14:54.560,0:14:57.600
a bunch of renovation as well since the
0:14:56.399,0:15:01.040
park isn’t open
0:14:57.600,0:15:05.120
so they’re able to show you know people
0:15:01.040,0:15:06.959
um who wouldn’t normally be able to see
0:15:05.120,0:15:08.320
what’s going on so kind of cool that
0:15:06.959,0:15:11.839
they’re you know
0:15:08.320,0:15:13.120
taking this aspect you know tick tock
0:15:11.839,0:15:14.639
you know was kind of known for
0:15:13.120,0:15:16.399
you know their dances like everybody
0:15:14.639,0:15:17.279
would log on and hey here’s a funny
0:15:16.399,0:15:20.240
dance that i do
0:15:17.279,0:15:22.160
but you know there are some really kind
0:15:20.240,0:15:24.720
of interesting things that have
0:15:22.160,0:15:26.800
have popped up on it and this happens to
0:15:24.720,0:15:28.399
to be one of them that’s that’s kind of
0:15:26.800,0:15:31.519
cool now i know
0:15:28.399,0:15:33.279
for well geez for decades now disney’s
0:15:31.519,0:15:33.839
done behind the scenes tours and stuff
0:15:33.279,0:15:37.839
like that
0:15:33.839,0:15:41.279
yeah and their in-person tours
0:15:37.839,0:15:43.600
are usually age restricted depending on
0:15:41.279,0:15:45.279
what they show you right how protective
0:15:43.600,0:15:46.480
are they on what their behind the scenes
0:15:45.279,0:15:47.920
stuff is on tickets well
0:15:46.480,0:15:49.680
and that’s the thing is they’re not
0:15:47.920,0:15:53.199
showing like i i don’t
0:15:49.680,0:15:56.639
think they’ve shown the utility or
0:15:53.199,0:15:59.920
anything like that it’s pretty much been
0:15:56.639,0:16:01.199
within you know the parks um the one
0:15:59.920,0:16:04.800
thing that they did
0:16:01.199,0:16:07.279
was after they did the um
0:16:04.800,0:16:09.120
cinderella they did sleeping beauty’s
0:16:07.279,0:16:10.000
castle they showed the the ducks around
0:16:09.120,0:16:12.959
the castle
0:16:10.000,0:16:14.240
they actually went and did the horses at
0:16:12.959,0:16:17.360
disneyland
0:16:14.240,0:16:19.600
um the the circle d no the circle d
0:16:17.360,0:16:20.480
the actual horses that normally go
0:16:19.600,0:16:22.320
through
0:16:20.480,0:16:23.759
the park and pull they went and did a
0:16:22.320,0:16:26.880
checkup on them
0:16:23.759,0:16:30.079
um and they were also doing um for
0:16:26.880,0:16:32.399
animals being born at animal kingdom in
0:16:30.079,0:16:33.920
florida they were doing behind the
0:16:32.399,0:16:37.519
scenes of that so they’re
0:16:33.920,0:16:40.880
almost doing some of the same things
0:16:37.519,0:16:43.839
that they would do during a tour um
0:16:40.880,0:16:44.240
they’re not being overly revealing right
0:16:43.839,0:16:46.000
right
0:16:44.240,0:16:47.600
because the biggest thing and and i
0:16:46.000,0:16:50.720
think the biggest thing for like
0:16:47.600,0:16:54.320
the the behind um
0:16:50.720,0:16:57.360
uh behind the ears or uh
0:16:54.320,0:16:59.199
the kingdom the uh king to the
0:16:57.360,0:17:01.040
keys to the kingdom the biggest reason
0:16:59.199,0:17:03.120
for the age restriction is so that you
0:17:01.040,0:17:06.240
don’t happen to see
0:17:03.120,0:17:06.799
mickey mouse out of uniform that’s
0:17:06.240,0:17:10.160
really
0:17:06.799,0:17:12.720
where the the cutoff of the age is for
0:17:10.160,0:17:15.360
that tour so they haven’t really done
0:17:12.720,0:17:16.079
you know anything like that on their
0:17:15.360,0:17:18.880
page but
0:17:16.079,0:17:19.600
it’s more all these other areas and and
0:17:18.880,0:17:22.400
i think
0:17:19.600,0:17:24.319
you know they’re kind of taking requests
0:17:22.400,0:17:27.439
also like if you put hey
0:17:24.319,0:17:29.280
howard and one person said um what about
0:17:27.439,0:17:31.520
the disneyland cats
0:17:29.280,0:17:33.200
um and they haven’t done one yet but
0:17:31.520,0:17:34.799
they said don’t worry we’ll
0:17:33.200,0:17:36.480
you know we’ll check in on them
0:17:34.799,0:17:38.720
everybody’s doing okay
0:17:36.480,0:17:40.400
um you know but we’ll we’ll do a video
0:17:38.720,0:17:42.320
of them you know later on so
0:17:40.400,0:17:43.440
kind of cool that’s very cool that’s
0:17:42.320,0:17:45.039
very cool
0:17:43.440,0:17:47.280
so that was all we had for our disney

pew pew pew pew
0:19:12.799,0:19:16.880
um so uh our first article is talking
0:19:16.400,0:19:20.400
about
0:19:16.880,0:19:24.320
the replacement plan for
0:19:20.400,0:19:27.280
the cara dune uh
0:19:24.320,0:19:27.760
character from mandalorian and obviously
0:19:27.280,0:19:30.799
uh
0:19:27.760,0:19:31.760
the rangers of the new republic show um
0:19:30.799,0:19:34.880
so this article
0:19:31.760,0:19:37.760
came from giant freakingrobot.com
0:19:34.880,0:19:38.400
i just like saying that by the way um
0:19:37.760,0:19:40.480
and again
0:19:38.400,0:19:42.000
this is a lot of speculation in this
0:19:40.480,0:19:44.720
because there’s no
0:19:42.000,0:19:45.360
um you know concrete yes this is the
0:19:44.720,0:19:48.480
plan
0:19:45.360,0:19:50.640
this is all you know kind of rumory uh
0:19:48.480,0:19:52.080
stuff so just wanted to to put that out
0:19:50.640,0:19:55.760
there so according
0:19:52.080,0:19:57.280
to insider daniel rickman on his page he
0:19:55.760,0:20:00.960
said that lucasfilm
0:19:57.280,0:20:03.360
is planning to replace gina
0:20:00.960,0:20:05.600
carrano’s character in the upcoming
0:20:03.360,0:20:07.840
series rangers of the new republic with
0:20:05.600,0:20:11.440
another strong female lead
0:20:07.840,0:20:13.520
reichman is light on further details
0:20:11.440,0:20:14.640
but this does seem to confirm that
0:20:13.520,0:20:17.039
carrot dune
0:20:14.640,0:20:18.320
was set to be the lead in rangers of the
0:20:17.039,0:20:20.640
new republic
0:20:18.320,0:20:22.400
so have they actually found somebody are
0:20:20.640,0:20:25.760
they still looking
0:20:22.400,0:20:26.890
so again according to this article
0:20:25.760,0:20:28.960
they’re you know
0:20:26.890,0:20:31.840
[Music]
0:20:28.960,0:20:34.640
it’s do we kind of replace her with
0:20:31.840,0:20:35.840
somebody else or do we find so it kind
0:20:34.640,0:20:38.080
of sounds
0:20:35.840,0:20:39.919
like they’re looking to just replace the
0:20:38.080,0:20:40.559
character altogether like she’s just
0:20:39.919,0:20:43.039
kind of
0:20:40.559,0:20:44.720
gonna go off because as far as the
0:20:43.039,0:20:46.559
mandalorian
0:20:44.720,0:20:48.240
in you know one of the last episodes
0:20:46.559,0:20:52.320
that she was in we
0:20:48.240,0:20:53.440
saw um captain tiva attempting to
0:20:52.320,0:20:56.320
recruit her
0:20:53.440,0:20:57.600
to the new republic so that was going to
0:20:56.320,0:21:00.880
be kind of the
0:20:57.600,0:21:01.200
her her moving from the mandalorian over
0:21:00.880,0:21:03.280
so
0:21:01.200,0:21:04.480
now you know do they completely drop
0:21:03.280,0:21:07.200
that but
0:21:04.480,0:21:08.240
according to the hollywood reporter
0:21:07.200,0:21:11.120
sources said
0:21:08.240,0:21:11.679
that they had planned to actually unveil
0:21:11.120,0:21:15.360
her
0:21:11.679,0:21:17.840
during the december investors
0:21:15.360,0:21:17.840
plan
0:21:19.200,0:21:23.200
sorry about that i’ll call for work this
0:21:20.799,0:21:23.840
weekend and we were trying to get in
0:21:23.200,0:21:27.120
without
0:21:23.840,0:21:29.120
you know anything um so that
0:21:27.120,0:21:31.200
as of right now there’s no immediate
0:21:29.120,0:21:34.400
plans to recast her
0:21:31.200,0:21:37.760
but one of the people that’s kind of um
0:21:34.400,0:21:38.480
been gaming uh gaining steam in all of
0:21:37.760,0:21:42.080
this
0:21:38.480,0:21:42.400
um is lucy lawless um that she’s kind of
0:21:42.080,0:21:45.520
the
0:21:42.400,0:21:48.880
the front runner to be
0:21:45.520,0:21:52.799
um you know obviously not the cara dune
0:21:48.880,0:21:56.320
character but some type of um
0:21:52.799,0:21:56.960
warrior type person uh to kind of take
0:21:56.320,0:21:58.880
over
0:21:56.960,0:22:00.320
where they kind of wanted to to go with
0:21:58.880,0:22:02.799
it and again
0:22:00.320,0:22:03.760
nothing is set in stone with it it’s all
0:22:02.799,0:22:05.919
rumors
0:22:03.760,0:22:07.039
but a lot of people were like yeah i
0:22:05.919,0:22:10.240
could totally see
0:22:07.039,0:22:13.919
you know lucy lawless in in this
0:22:10.240,0:22:16.720
type of of character moving forward so
0:22:13.919,0:22:17.760
we’ll say you know again all speculation
0:22:16.720,0:22:19.919
at this point but
0:22:17.760,0:22:22.400
you never know well and i think the the
0:22:19.919,0:22:24.400
thing to keep in mind here is that
0:22:22.400,0:22:26.880
the universe is a big place there’s a
0:22:24.400,0:22:29.440
lot of characters in it absolutely
0:22:26.880,0:22:31.840
so no need to uh get bogged down with a
0:22:29.440,0:22:33.840
single character
0:22:31.840,0:22:35.360
problematic at best in the real world
0:22:33.840,0:22:37.280
yeah yeah so
0:22:35.360,0:22:38.400
we’ll see yeah should be interesting i’m
0:22:37.280,0:22:38.960
sure they’re not going to cancel the
0:22:38.400,0:22:40.880
show with
0:22:38.960,0:22:42.640
with her not being part of it absolutely
0:22:40.880,0:22:45.919
they’ll just they’ll find a replacement
0:22:42.640,0:22:47.360
somebody else so tell us about our guide
0:22:45.919,0:22:49.600
to canon novels
0:22:47.360,0:22:51.360
yeah so this was an interesting article
0:22:49.600,0:22:54.720
that popped up from
0:22:51.360,0:22:57.120
uh den of the geek.com and
0:22:54.720,0:23:00.000
um you know it basically talks about you
0:22:57.120,0:23:03.200
know are you looking to fill in the gaps
0:23:00.000,0:23:04.559
you know in star wars stories and this
0:23:03.200,0:23:08.080
was a
0:23:04.559,0:23:10.159
very insightful list um
0:23:08.080,0:23:11.440
you know that that talks about
0:23:10.159,0:23:14.640
everything
0:23:11.440,0:23:17.039
you know basically all in
0:23:14.640,0:23:18.320
in chronological order from before the
0:23:17.039,0:23:21.360
peak uh
0:23:18.320,0:23:24.720
before the prequels all the way
0:23:21.360,0:23:27.919
up to uh the last uh
0:23:24.720,0:23:28.559
um trilogy that that came out and um you
0:23:27.919,0:23:31.679
know it
0:23:28.559,0:23:34.240
even includes um young adult
0:23:31.679,0:23:35.520
novels as well and i’m sure you’ve
0:23:34.240,0:23:38.799
probably read
0:23:35.520,0:23:40.400
a good portion if not all maybe
0:23:38.799,0:23:42.080
probably not all but you’ve probably
0:23:40.400,0:23:44.159
read a good portion of it
0:23:42.080,0:23:45.600
and even talking about the newer books
0:23:44.159,0:23:47.600
that are going to be
0:23:45.600,0:23:49.120
coming out so it talks about it you know
0:23:47.600,0:23:51.440
it lists it
0:23:49.120,0:23:52.720
before the prequel so you have the the
0:23:51.440,0:23:55.919
high republic
0:23:52.720,0:23:57.039
light of the jedi queen’s peril and then
0:23:55.919,0:24:00.400
you even have the
0:23:57.039,0:24:04.240
prequel error which is uh queen
0:24:00.400,0:24:07.679
shadow the thrawn books um
0:24:04.240,0:24:10.400
uh rogue one prequel of catalyst
0:24:07.679,0:24:12.159
uh then it even breaks it down into
0:24:10.400,0:24:15.600
after revenge of the sith
0:24:12.159,0:24:18.000
but before a new hope there’s a whole
0:24:15.600,0:24:18.799
you know error of books that that comes
0:24:18.000,0:24:20.480
in with that
0:24:18.799,0:24:21.919
then of course you have the original
0:24:20.480,0:24:25.279
trilogy
0:24:21.919,0:24:27.840
and the books um you know that go
0:24:25.279,0:24:29.200
in between all of that then you have the
0:24:27.840,0:24:32.400
return of the jedi
0:24:29.200,0:24:33.840
and all the books it’s like oh my gosh
0:24:32.400,0:24:37.679
you could be reading for like
0:24:33.840,0:24:39.520
years i’m sure you did
0:24:37.679,0:24:40.720
and then of course you know the sequel
0:24:39.520,0:24:44.000
trilogy
0:24:40.720,0:24:47.520
um you know and and all of those and
0:24:44.000,0:24:49.679
really a very comprehensive list um
0:24:47.520,0:24:50.559
that i’ve i’ve seen you know put
0:24:49.679,0:24:51.840
together
0:24:50.559,0:24:54.000
and again like i said it’s in
0:24:51.840,0:24:57.039
chronological order for anybody
0:24:54.000,0:24:59.520
um so the link will obviously be
0:24:57.039,0:25:00.159
you know on our website or you know in
0:24:59.520,0:25:01.919
the notes
0:25:00.159,0:25:03.360
if you’re you’re interested in and
0:25:01.919,0:25:05.360
pulling up everything because
0:25:03.360,0:25:06.480
again we could probably go through you
0:25:05.360,0:25:10.400
know do a whole
0:25:06.480,0:25:12.559
special just on this with your insights
0:25:10.400,0:25:14.000
of you know what you’ve read and what
0:25:12.559,0:25:17.120
you haven’t yet yeah
0:25:14.000,0:25:19.039
there’s a extensive amount of canon
0:25:17.120,0:25:21.279
novels out there
0:25:19.039,0:25:22.640
and and i’ve read a lot of them uh i
0:25:21.279,0:25:23.919
certainly haven’t read all of them in
0:25:22.640,0:25:26.400
fact most of my
0:25:23.919,0:25:28.799
reading has been the non-canon what used
0:25:26.400,0:25:32.000
to be called the expanded universe
0:25:28.799,0:25:34.720
um i have like the last complete
0:25:32.000,0:25:35.919
four series of books of that all of
0:25:34.720,0:25:38.240
which that i’ve read
0:25:35.919,0:25:39.600
and i’ve kind of picked and chosen what
0:25:38.240,0:25:40.720
i’ve read from the new stuff here i
0:25:39.600,0:25:42.400
haven’t read anything from the high
0:25:40.720,0:25:43.760
republic yet so
0:25:42.400,0:25:45.760
i might have to get into that and see if
0:25:43.760,0:25:48.240
that’s any good there you go
0:25:45.760,0:25:50.000
so that was all we had for our tales
0:25:48.240,0:25:52.159

0:25:50.000,0:25:56.980

0:27:20.559,0:27:24.000
and it seems that stevie wonder is
0:27:22.960,0:27:27.600
heading to west
0:27:24.000,0:27:29.440
africa for a profound reason uh during a
0:27:27.600,0:27:33.120
recent interview with oprah
0:27:29.440,0:27:36.000
winfrey the 25 time grammy winner grammy
0:27:33.120,0:27:38.000
winner say that five times fast opened
0:27:36.000,0:27:41.200
up about his future plans
0:27:38.000,0:27:43.440
to live in ghana indefinitely as part of
0:27:41.200,0:27:44.559
his efforts to shield his lineage of
0:27:43.440,0:27:46.720
grandchildren
0:27:44.559,0:27:48.720
and great-grandchildren from racial
0:27:46.720,0:27:51.039
injustice in the u.s
0:27:48.720,0:27:51.760
he said i want to see this nation smile
0:27:51.039,0:27:54.159
again
0:27:51.760,0:27:56.399
and i want to see it before i leave to
0:27:54.159,0:27:57.760
travel to move to ghana because i’m
0:27:56.399,0:27:59.520
going to do that
0:27:57.760,0:28:01.520
when asked if he plans to relocate
0:27:59.520,0:28:03.360
permanently the star replied i
0:28:01.520,0:28:04.960
am because i don’t want to see my
0:28:03.360,0:28:07.760
children’s children’s
0:28:04.960,0:28:09.120
children have to say oh please like me
0:28:07.760,0:28:11.200
please respect me
0:28:09.120,0:28:12.240
please know that i am important please
0:28:11.200,0:28:14.399
value me
0:28:12.240,0:28:15.279
what kind of life is that the star’s
0:28:14.399,0:28:19.120
decision
0:28:15.279,0:28:21.919
uh made um was made by
0:28:19.120,0:28:24.159
uh was influenced by a number of reasons
0:28:21.919,0:28:27.360
um but it’s often said that living
0:28:24.159,0:28:29.600
in a majority uh
0:28:27.360,0:28:32.080
black region gives black individuals a
0:28:29.600,0:28:35.440
sense of safety confidence liberation
0:28:32.080,0:28:39.039
and pride many argue that within the u.s
0:28:35.440,0:28:41.600
attending hbcus historically
0:28:39.039,0:28:43.200
black colleges and universities gives
0:28:41.600,0:28:45.840
black
0:28:43.200,0:28:46.240
american black students the same feeling
0:28:45.840,0:28:48.159
um
0:28:46.240,0:28:50.159
wonder said that he had actually been
0:28:48.159,0:28:53.440
considering moving to ghana
0:28:50.159,0:28:57.039
um since as early as 1984
0:28:53.440,0:29:00.720
sorry 1994 per the orlando sentinel
0:28:57.039,0:29:03.919
he said at the time he had told
0:29:00.720,0:29:07.120
um he at a gathering of
0:29:03.919,0:29:09.760
international uh association of
0:29:07.120,0:29:11.520
of african american music that he had
0:29:09.760,0:29:13.279
fallen in love with the country
0:29:11.520,0:29:15.840
and there was more of a sense of
0:29:13.279,0:29:18.960
community there
0:29:15.840,0:29:22.320
he had last month he had
0:29:18.960,0:29:25.600
wrote an emotional letter in honor of
0:29:22.320,0:29:27.919
martin luther king jr day where he said
0:29:25.600,0:29:28.559
dear dr king i met you when i was 14
0:29:27.919,0:29:31.279
years
0:29:28.559,0:29:33.520
of age you were a true hero and you
0:29:31.279,0:29:36.159
became an inspiration
0:29:33.520,0:29:37.679
he later said that it is painful to know
0:29:36.159,0:29:40.960
that the needle has
0:29:37.679,0:29:42.960
not moved one iota for 36 years we’ve
0:29:40.960,0:29:44.399
had a national holiday honoring your
0:29:42.960,0:29:46.240
birthday and principles
0:29:44.399,0:29:48.640
yet you would not believe the lack of
0:29:46.240,0:29:50.720
progress it makes me physically sick
0:29:48.640,0:29:52.159
i’m sick of politicians trying to find
0:29:50.720,0:29:55.520
an easy solution
0:29:52.159,0:29:57.600
to a 400 year old problem the vocalist
0:29:55.520,0:29:58.880
concluded the letter with a call to
0:29:57.600,0:30:01.279
action for
0:29:58.880,0:30:02.559
all those in the senate to speak truth
0:30:01.279,0:30:04.799
to what they know
0:30:02.559,0:30:06.480
they can physically see and begin the
0:30:04.799,0:30:09.520
steps forward
0:30:06.480,0:30:09.840
towards accountability forgiveness and
0:30:09.520,0:30:13.440
then
0:30:09.840,0:30:14.559
healing so you know you got to do what
0:30:13.440,0:30:16.880
you have to do
0:30:14.559,0:30:18.640
you know for right for your family it’s
0:30:16.880,0:30:19.440
really hard to argue with anything the
0:30:18.640,0:30:21.039
man says
0:30:19.440,0:30:22.799
absolutely especially after living
0:30:21.039,0:30:24.640
through four years of the
0:30:22.799,0:30:26.399
you know administration we just lived
0:30:24.640,0:30:29.039
through how much
0:30:26.399,0:30:29.840
worse things got in such you know we’ve
0:30:29.039,0:30:32.320
we
0:30:29.840,0:30:33.279
we regressed 30 years in those four
0:30:32.320,0:30:36.559
years
0:30:33.279,0:30:39.760
in race relations yeah so it’s tragic
0:30:36.559,0:30:43.200
you know it’s sad to see you know
0:30:39.760,0:30:46.960
somebody leave the country that
0:30:43.200,0:30:50.000
you grew up in you know for
0:30:46.960,0:30:52.399
that someplace else is safer but
0:30:50.000,0:30:53.200
again you have to do what’s right for
0:30:52.399,0:30:55.919
your family
0:30:53.200,0:30:56.720
is that not only is that a viable
0:30:55.919,0:30:58.720
alternative
0:30:56.720,0:31:00.640
it’s a requirement now if you want to
0:30:58.720,0:31:02.000
have the kind of respect respect and
0:31:00.640,0:31:04.960
freedom that you deserve
0:31:02.000,0:31:05.519
yeah you know our country has a long way
0:31:04.960,0:31:08.000
to go
0:31:05.519,0:31:10.000
before we get where we need to be
0:31:08.000,0:31:13.039
absolutely
0:31:10.000,0:31:15.120
so on a lighter note the mcu might be
0:31:13.039,0:31:16.000
getting a major casting shake up let’s
0:31:15.120,0:31:18.080
talk about that
0:31:16.000,0:31:19.039
yeah so the latest casting rumor
0:31:18.080,0:31:22.240
surrounding the
0:31:19.039,0:31:24.640
mcu has fans of agents of shield
0:31:22.240,0:31:25.840
shaking with excitement the speculation
0:31:24.640,0:31:29.120
is that agent
0:31:25.840,0:31:31.919
phil coulson and quake daisy johnson
0:31:29.120,0:31:32.480
could return to the mcu later this year
0:31:31.919,0:31:35.919
so
0:31:32.480,0:31:39.519
the reports had actually um come around
0:31:35.919,0:31:41.600
on fan fandomwire.com
0:31:39.519,0:31:43.200
saying you know that we can reveal that
0:31:41.600,0:31:46.320
greg clark’s
0:31:43.200,0:31:49.840
clark gregg’s agent phil coulson
0:31:46.320,0:31:52.240
and um chloe bennett’s daisy johnson
0:31:49.840,0:31:54.799
are returning to end the mcu for an
0:31:52.240,0:31:56.799
upcoming project on disney plus
0:31:54.799,0:31:58.559
uh while we couldn’t exactly confirm
0:31:56.799,0:32:01.760
which series they’ll be in
0:31:58.559,0:32:03.360
all signs have been pointing to secret
0:32:01.760,0:32:04.320
invasion which is currently in
0:32:03.360,0:32:06.960
production
0:32:04.320,0:32:08.880
so secret invasion does seem to be most
0:32:06.960,0:32:09.840
likely to be the project that they’ll be
0:32:08.880,0:32:12.559
returning
0:32:09.840,0:32:14.240
because it will also be featuring a
0:32:12.559,0:32:17.200
former shield director
0:32:14.240,0:32:17.760
nick fury um it will follow the comic
0:32:17.200,0:32:20.320
book
0:32:17.760,0:32:22.640
uh storyline of the same name and will
0:32:20.320,0:32:25.120
revolve around the infiltration of
0:32:22.640,0:32:26.799
a shape-shifting of the shape-shifting
0:32:25.120,0:32:30.559
aliens the krills
0:32:26.799,0:32:33.760
um and ben mendelsohn
0:32:30.559,0:32:34.240
who was in captain marvel he will
0:32:33.760,0:32:37.679
actually
0:32:34.240,0:32:40.399
be in the series as well so
0:32:37.679,0:32:41.360
agents of shield aired its final episode
0:32:40.399,0:32:45.279
last
0:32:41.360,0:32:46.720
august of 2020 and uh star chloe bennett
0:32:45.279,0:32:49.440
had been very vocal about
0:32:46.720,0:32:50.480
wanting to return to the role of daisy
0:32:49.440,0:32:54.159
johnson
0:32:50.480,0:32:57.200
um so it’s kind of cool if this is
0:32:54.159,0:33:00.799
you know what’s gonna happen um
0:32:57.200,0:33:03.919
so you know it seems like
0:33:00.799,0:33:04.880
uh the way that they had ended uh agents
0:33:03.919,0:33:08.240
of
0:33:04.880,0:33:12.080
shield uh they had kind of ended
0:33:08.240,0:33:14.720
the series where things had
0:33:12.080,0:33:16.880
just begun uh with end game so they kind
0:33:14.720,0:33:18.559
of brought the timeline together
0:33:16.880,0:33:21.360
so they kind of brought it up to speed
0:33:18.559,0:33:23.440
so it’s very possible that they could
0:33:21.360,0:33:25.039
uh you know add these two characters to
0:33:23.440,0:33:28.320
to bring them over
0:33:25.039,0:33:30.080
uh to to uh invasion so we’ll have to
0:33:28.320,0:33:32.720
wait and see but it could be
0:33:30.080,0:33:33.840
uh very cool because they were you know
0:33:32.720,0:33:37.120
uh favorites of
0:33:33.840,0:33:38.960
of ours uh from uh when we were watching
0:33:37.120,0:33:41.200
agents of shield yeah it should be
0:33:38.960,0:33:44.240
interesting we uh
0:33:41.200,0:33:45.919
when we watched uh captain marvel and
0:33:44.240,0:33:48.320
they debuted the scrolls
0:33:45.919,0:33:50.240
they kind of turned the tables on the
0:33:48.320,0:33:51.360
nature of the scrolls right the scrolls
0:33:50.240,0:33:55.039
the
0:33:51.360,0:33:57.519
the good guys almost the the oppressed
0:33:55.039,0:33:58.159
you know uh minority of the of the
0:33:57.519,0:34:00.960
galaxy
0:33:58.159,0:34:02.320
right and you you develop a sense of
0:34:00.960,0:34:04.080
sympathy for them
0:34:02.320,0:34:06.640
but you have to keep in mind that that
0:34:04.080,0:34:09.280
movie was set in the 1990s right
0:34:06.640,0:34:10.800
so the secret invasion comics the
0:34:09.280,0:34:12.480
scrolls of the bad guys the other guys
0:34:10.800,0:34:12.879
that come in shape-shifting taking over
0:34:12.480,0:34:17.119
people
0:34:12.879,0:34:19.760
people’s bodies basically what they
0:34:17.119,0:34:20.639
did was what the marvel cinematic
0:34:19.760,0:34:23.839
universe did
0:34:20.639,0:34:27.280
in um winter soldier okay
0:34:23.839,0:34:30.079
with the hydra taking over shields
0:34:27.280,0:34:31.040
gotcha okay the scrolls sort of that did
0:34:30.079,0:34:33.119
that so
0:34:31.040,0:34:35.040
they’ve kind of mung things together
0:34:33.119,0:34:36.480
here to keep the themes but with
0:34:35.040,0:34:39.280
different people in those roles
0:34:36.480,0:34:40.320
okay okay so it’ll be interesting
0:34:39.280,0:34:43.839
especially if they’re bringing
0:34:40.320,0:34:46.960
uh ben mendelsohn back in to see
0:34:43.839,0:34:48.000
where that you know finding them a
0:34:46.960,0:34:50.639
planet
0:34:48.000,0:34:52.079
to live peacefully by themselves and not
0:34:50.639,0:34:55.200
be bothered
0:34:52.079,0:34:57.760
winds up with them trying to take over
0:34:55.200,0:34:58.480
invasion right right did something go
0:34:57.760,0:35:02.160
wrong
0:34:58.480,0:35:03.839
obviously with yeah so that that
0:35:02.160,0:35:05.359
should be uh should be an interesting
0:35:03.839,0:35:07.760
twist to see is it
0:35:05.359,0:35:09.520
a limited series that they’re doing here
0:35:07.760,0:35:12.880
they haven’t said
0:35:09.520,0:35:14.079
what any of of invasion is going to be
0:35:12.880,0:35:15.760
like so
0:35:14.079,0:35:17.680
i guess we’ll we’ll have to wait and say
0:35:15.760,0:35:20.160
for more uh information
0:35:17.680,0:35:21.599
definitely something to look forward to
0:35:20.160,0:35:23.119
and that was all we had for our
0:35:21.599,0:35:26.640
entertainment news
0:35:23.119,0:35:26.640
we’ll be right back with our insightful
0:35:28.839,0:35:33.280
picks
0:35:30.720,0:35:34.320
go for your insightful pick so my
0:35:33.280,0:35:38.000
insightful pick
0:35:34.320,0:35:41.280
is actually a trilogy of movies um
0:35:38.000,0:35:42.480
that are based on a trilogy of novels of
0:35:41.280,0:35:46.800
the same name
0:35:42.480,0:35:48.720
um it’s uh the the the movie series is
0:35:46.800,0:35:51.200
to all the boys i loved
0:35:48.720,0:35:52.560
and it’s a and this is where the the
0:35:51.200,0:35:55.599
teenage girl in me
0:35:52.560,0:35:56.320
you know comes out so uh to all the boys
0:35:55.599,0:35:58.800
is a
0:35:56.320,0:36:00.640
series of american teenage romance films
0:35:58.800,0:36:01.839
based on the trilogy of novels of the
0:36:00.640,0:36:04.400
same name
0:36:01.839,0:36:05.200
um and it you know the movie centers
0:36:04.400,0:36:08.400
around
0:36:05.200,0:36:11.359
a shy teenage girl who writes five
0:36:08.400,0:36:12.240
love letters who she uh where she never
0:36:11.359,0:36:15.920
planned
0:36:12.240,0:36:18.720
to send them out and years later
0:36:15.920,0:36:19.040
her younger sister finds them and sends
0:36:18.720,0:36:22.160
them
0:36:19.040,0:36:23.920
out to the five different boys uh who
0:36:22.160,0:36:26.079
she had a crush on
0:36:23.920,0:36:26.960
you know in junior high and now she’s in
0:36:26.079,0:36:30.240
high school
0:36:26.960,0:36:31.040
um so the first movie uh sort of centers
0:36:30.240,0:36:34.480
around
0:36:31.040,0:36:37.440
her and the one boy um
0:36:34.480,0:36:39.280
kind of setting up a contract where they
0:36:37.440,0:36:40.960
fake pretend to date
0:36:39.280,0:36:42.800
because he kind of breaks up with
0:36:40.960,0:36:43.359
somebody and wants to kind of get back
0:36:42.800,0:36:46.560
at her
0:36:43.359,0:36:48.960
so she decides to be the pretend
0:36:46.560,0:36:50.560
girlfriend and of course by the end of
0:36:48.960,0:36:52.480
the movie they fall in love and they
0:36:50.560,0:36:54.480
really start dating
0:36:52.480,0:36:56.000
then the second movie takes place a year
0:36:54.480,0:36:59.599
later and
0:36:56.000,0:37:02.640
everything that goes on um with them
0:36:59.599,0:37:05.680
and what happens is one of the
0:37:02.640,0:37:06.640
last boys that she never heard from in
0:37:05.680,0:37:08.800
the first movie
0:37:06.640,0:37:09.760
that she sent a letter to she finally
0:37:08.800,0:37:12.160
hears from
0:37:09.760,0:37:13.119
so again cute little situations pop up
0:37:12.160,0:37:16.079
with that
0:37:13.119,0:37:17.680
and then the last movie which actually
0:37:16.079,0:37:20.960
just came out
0:37:17.680,0:37:24.400
february of this year is their
0:37:20.960,0:37:26.800
senior year and basically the turmoil of
0:37:24.400,0:37:28.640
of dating during senior year and what
0:37:26.800,0:37:31.040
college do you go to do you
0:37:28.640,0:37:32.000
pick something you know close together
0:37:31.040,0:37:34.640
so you can still
0:37:32.000,0:37:36.240
date or do you you know go your separate
0:37:34.640,0:37:38.640
ways and
0:37:36.240,0:37:39.520
and you know throw caution to the wind
0:37:38.640,0:37:42.560
so you know
0:37:39.520,0:37:45.520
cute little you know teeny bopper
0:37:42.560,0:37:45.920
uh love story you know for for those
0:37:45.520,0:37:48.160
that
0:37:45.920,0:37:49.200
want something different to to watch all
0:37:48.160,0:37:51.839
right cute pick
0:37:49.200,0:37:51.839
thank you
0:37:52.690,0:37:55.520
[Applause]
0:37:53.930,0:37:59.359
[Music]
0:37:55.520,0:38:02.480
so my pick this week is a
0:37:59.359,0:38:06.000
kind of a documentary kind of
0:38:02.480,0:38:09.200
a sitcom limited series type
0:38:06.000,0:38:13.040
thing my pick this week
0:38:09.200,0:38:15.520
is one that i was hesitant to watch
0:38:13.040,0:38:18.960
um only because it’s hosted by someone
0:38:15.520,0:38:20.800
who i absolutely can’t stand as an actor
0:38:18.960,0:38:22.320
it’s hosted by nicholas cage and it’s
0:38:20.800,0:38:26.880
called history of
0:38:22.320,0:38:29.359
swear words streaming on netflix
0:38:26.880,0:38:31.520
in the show nicholas cage hosts the
0:38:29.359,0:38:34.800
proudly profane
0:38:31.520,0:38:38.320
funny and engagingly educational series
0:38:34.800,0:38:39.280
about the history and impact of the most
0:38:38.320,0:38:42.960
notorious
0:38:39.280,0:38:45.040
english word swear words the unscripted
0:38:42.960,0:38:47.760
series explores the history of
0:38:45.040,0:38:48.560
rare words through interviews with
0:38:47.760,0:38:52.240
experts
0:38:48.560,0:38:55.280
in entomology popular culture history
0:38:52.240,0:38:58.320
and entertainment with each episode
0:38:55.280,0:38:59.040
diving into the origins usage and
0:38:58.320,0:39:02.720
cultural
0:38:59.040,0:39:05.760
impact of specific curse words
0:39:02.720,0:39:09.040
the show was interesting
0:39:05.760,0:39:11.359
in that nicholas cage was actually
0:39:09.040,0:39:13.040
funnier in this show than i think i’ve
0:39:11.359,0:39:14.800
ever seen him and i have a very
0:39:13.040,0:39:17.440
difficult time
0:39:14.800,0:39:19.119
with nicholas cage as an actor because
0:39:17.440,0:39:20.079
nicholas cage does a very good job
0:39:19.119,0:39:23.359
playing
0:39:20.079,0:39:23.760
nicolas cage uh he’s not particularly
0:39:23.359,0:39:26.800
well
0:39:23.760,0:39:29.920
at convincing me that he’s anyone other
0:39:26.800,0:39:31.920
than himself with all of the mannerisms
0:39:29.920,0:39:33.359
but those mannerisms really lended
0:39:31.920,0:39:37.119
themselves to this
0:39:33.359,0:39:40.800
tv show because
0:39:37.119,0:39:42.720
he’s generally of a
0:39:40.800,0:39:44.160
connoisseur of some of the words that
0:39:42.720,0:39:46.560
they actually talk about in the
0:39:44.160,0:39:48.000
documentary itself
0:39:46.560,0:39:50.480
and it wasn’t just a bunch of people
0:39:48.000,0:39:52.240
sitting around cussing and swearing
0:39:50.480,0:39:54.160
although there was plenty of that as
0:39:52.240,0:39:56.560
well but each
0:39:54.160,0:39:58.160
episode and i think there were seven
0:39:56.560,0:40:00.800
episodes
0:39:58.160,0:40:03.200
each episode they they took a a word
0:40:00.800,0:40:06.560
that’s a popular swear word in
0:40:03.200,0:40:09.920
in english language and they
0:40:06.560,0:40:11.040
looked at the origins of it they looked
0:40:09.920,0:40:13.760
at the various
0:40:11.040,0:40:14.240
forms that it took where you know some
0:40:13.760,0:40:17.599
some
0:40:14.240,0:40:21.440
words transformed over the years
0:40:17.599,0:40:23.920
from very different meanings
0:40:21.440,0:40:26.319
and they looked at what how their usage
0:40:23.920,0:40:27.839
in popular culture has changed over
0:40:26.319,0:40:30.240
hundreds of years
0:40:27.839,0:40:32.880
some of which they went back as far as
0:40:30.240,0:40:35.520
the middle ages on some of these words
0:40:32.880,0:40:35.920
um the only criticism i think i really
0:40:35.520,0:40:38.960
would
0:40:35.920,0:40:40.800
lodge at the show itself is the order in
0:40:38.960,0:40:44.000
which they did the words
0:40:40.800,0:40:47.359
um they started off very strong
0:40:44.000,0:40:48.880
to say the least they ended up with a
0:40:47.359,0:40:51.280
word that i can actually say on this
0:40:48.880,0:40:54.319
podcast damn
0:40:51.280,0:40:56.480
and it seemed like it just sort of
0:40:54.319,0:40:58.240
sputtered out at the end there where you
0:40:56.480,0:40:59.680
would have you would have ended with one
0:40:58.240,0:41:01.680
of the bigger four-letter words
0:40:59.680,0:41:03.040
right and i do want to kind of point out
0:41:01.680,0:41:05.119
too that
0:41:03.040,0:41:07.200
you didn’t even want to watch that’s
0:41:05.119,0:41:08.640
know i covered that already that i did
0:41:07.200,0:41:10.240
not want to watch this show
0:41:08.640,0:41:11.760
and i was like oh come on i think it’ll
0:41:10.240,0:41:13.839
be funny and
0:41:11.760,0:41:15.040
anything with nicolas cage i try to stay
0:41:13.839,0:41:17.839
away from right
0:41:15.040,0:41:21.200
i had mentioned um you had stepped out
0:41:17.839,0:41:23.200
very briefly but i mentioned that uh
0:41:21.200,0:41:25.200
i i don’t like nicholas nicholas cage is
0:41:23.200,0:41:27.520
very good at playing nicolas cage
0:41:25.200,0:41:29.520
and he and he did that in this which was
0:41:27.520,0:41:31.520
funny and and his character
0:41:29.520,0:41:33.200
right he as an individual was perfect
0:41:31.520,0:41:36.000
for this show that’s why it worked
0:41:33.200,0:41:37.760
right um when he’s asked to play anybody
0:41:36.000,0:41:38.480
else he’s not convincing at all he never
0:41:37.760,0:41:41.119
sells me
0:41:38.480,0:41:43.200
right uh but you know it was a it was a
0:41:41.119,0:41:43.920
funny show we were laughing at a number
0:41:43.200,0:41:47.040
of the
0:41:43.920,0:41:49.680
areas there not one for the kids there’s
0:41:47.040,0:41:52.000
a lot of cussing that goes on
0:41:49.680,0:41:52.880
um because they demonstrate how the word
0:41:52.000,0:41:56.400
is used
0:41:52.880,0:41:59.359
repeatedly in each episode yeah um but
0:41:56.400,0:42:01.119
it in the end i i was entertained and i
0:41:59.359,0:42:03.200
was glad that i watched it yeah
0:42:01.119,0:42:04.319
so history i swear our words are
0:42:03.200,0:42:07.550
currently on
0:42:04.319,0:42:10.500
netflix and we’ll be right back
0:42:07.550,0:42:11.920
[Applause]
0:42:10.500,0:42:14.560
[Music]
0:42:11.920,0:42:15.200
so that was all we had for this week did
0:42:14.560,0:42:18.000
we have
0:42:15.200,0:42:19.440
any closing remarks or anything like
0:42:18.000,0:42:22.000
that to go over
0:42:19.440,0:42:23.839
no i don’t think so all right well short
0:42:22.000,0:42:26.480
episode today we got through
0:42:23.839,0:42:27.280
everything we needed to get through and
0:42:26.480,0:42:30.079
uh
0:42:27.280,0:42:32.400
next week we will be back with our
0:42:30.079,0:42:36.160
official
0:42:32.400,0:42:37.440
episode um and we’ll get the show off
0:42:36.160,0:42:38.319
some of our collections a little bit
0:42:37.440,0:42:40.480
which
0:42:38.319,0:42:42.400
it’s worth mentioning by the way that
0:42:40.480,0:42:44.480
our collections
0:42:42.400,0:42:45.520
well my collection actually did show up
0:42:44.480,0:42:47.280
on a a
0:42:45.520,0:42:49.280
pop culture publication at one point in
0:42:47.280,0:42:52.560
time where i was solicited
0:42:49.280,0:42:53.119
but we almost wound up on yes a show
0:42:52.560,0:42:54.800
when we were
0:42:53.119,0:42:56.240
solicited going to one of the local
0:42:54.800,0:42:59.280
conventions yeah
0:42:56.240,0:43:00.240
and i think what the way that the show
0:42:59.280,0:43:03.680
ended up
0:43:00.240,0:43:06.960
ch the show kind of before
0:43:03.680,0:43:08.800
so we had gone to uh one of
0:43:06.960,0:43:10.880
romania monster mania it was one of the
0:43:08.800,0:43:11.440
monster manias and they had somebody
0:43:10.880,0:43:15.119
there
0:43:11.440,0:43:18.800
and it was secret stash was the
0:43:15.119,0:43:20.720
the original uh or the version of it
0:43:18.800,0:43:22.720
that they were looking at and basically
0:43:20.720,0:43:25.280
they wanted somebody that had
0:43:22.720,0:43:27.760
an extensive collection right uh it
0:43:25.280,0:43:29.760
wasn’t anything where we had to sell
0:43:27.760,0:43:31.599
anything it was basically they were
0:43:29.760,0:43:34.800
gonna come to the house
0:43:31.599,0:43:38.240
and interview and you know
0:43:34.800,0:43:42.000
um take a look at everything
0:43:38.240,0:43:44.319
and we were initially asked about it
0:43:42.000,0:43:45.920
and then i guess they kind of changed
0:43:44.319,0:43:48.720
the format of the show so
0:43:45.920,0:43:50.079
you know we’ve we haven’t been on so
0:43:48.720,0:43:51.119
that’s why we decided to put our own
0:43:50.079,0:43:53.760
shirt again
0:43:51.119,0:43:56.720
exactly we said we don’t need those
0:43:53.760,0:43:58.640
people we can do it ourselves
0:43:56.720,0:44:00.000
so next week we’ll we’ll be a little bit
0:43:58.640,0:44:01.119
of that we’re going to do some footage
0:44:00.000,0:44:06.000
some shots of our
0:44:01.119,0:44:07.920
or more rare or prized or obscure things
0:44:06.000,0:44:09.359
because we put a good deal of it on
0:44:07.920,0:44:10.880
display in the studio
0:44:09.359,0:44:12.400
here already you kind of see it in the
0:44:10.880,0:44:13.520
background but we didn’t you know we
0:44:12.400,0:44:16.960
don’t ever really
0:44:13.520,0:44:19.839
you know focus in on it obviously
0:44:16.960,0:44:21.280
he’s the star wars guy if you if you
0:44:19.839,0:44:25.520
didn’t already know
0:44:21.280,0:44:28.400
you should know um and then i’m
0:44:25.520,0:44:29.200
mostly disney the majority haunted
0:44:28.400,0:44:31.920
mansion
0:44:29.200,0:44:33.839
but we also have you know star trek we
0:44:31.920,0:44:37.760
also have doctor who
0:44:33.839,0:44:42.240
uh sci-fi stuff horror stuff from for me
0:44:37.760,0:44:44.160
um you know so we have a nice collection
0:44:42.240,0:44:45.839
so we’ll we’ll highlight some of the
0:44:44.160,0:44:48.160
some of the stuff that we have and
0:44:45.839,0:44:49.839
put a little yeah since nobody you know
0:44:48.160,0:44:52.240
since nobody comes over to our house
0:44:49.839,0:44:54.319
anymore forget-togethers we can’t show
0:44:52.240,0:44:56.160
off anything we figure hey
0:44:54.319,0:44:58.240
let let’s put it together for you guys
0:44:56.160,0:45:01.440
to and our house really is
0:44:58.240,0:45:03.119
like a museum oh it it totally is
0:45:01.440,0:45:04.640
anyway but that’s a teaser for next week
0:45:03.119,0:45:06.000
that’s your teaser for next week
0:45:04.640,0:45:08.720
