    • Walt Disney World is an incredibly creative place where some truly amazing concepts have come to life. However, not every idea is a real winner. The concept of Leave A Legacy wasn’t bad. As part of the Disney World millennium celebration, guests had the ability to commemorate their visit by leaving a small image of themselves at Epcot that would be there for years to come. Unfortunately, the displaying of all those tiny monochrome pictures left something to be desired. The entrance to Epcot became a series of granite monoliths covered in grey and black lines . It was less than exciting to be the first thing you saw after walking through the gates.
    • As part of the massive redesign of Epcot that is currently underway, the Leave A Legacy blocks were removed. But because guests were promised their images would remain on display for 20 years, we knew they were being relocated to a new space outside of the park itself. Now that relocation has commenced, and it turns out Walt Disney World isn’t simply moving the same granite blocks to another location. Leave A Legacy has been completely redesigned. It’s now full of colors, and it looks gorgeous. Check it out.
    • If this had been what Leave A Legacy had looked like inside the park, it might have been something else. The new walls are much taller than the old, and the original version could not have done that as it would have obscured too much, but the color is just what this display required. It just looks so much more inviting now. It was just so grey before and the images were so small that it was a wall of bland and you didn’t even know what you were looking at until you got very close. This is actually something you might want to look at even if you don’t have a picture on display. If you walk up to Epcot now and see this you’ll want to give it a closer look.
    • Guests who participated in the Leave A Legacy program, which ran from 1999 to 2007, can scan a QR code with their smart device in order to find the new location of their image.
    • This is the best of all possible solutions as now Leave A Legacy has found a new home, and looks great, and the Epcot entrance is coming along and is also much warmer. A new fountain was recently unveiled for guests, and a statue of Walt Disney himself is still planned to be added as well.
    • While some of the updates to Epcot as a whole have been delayed, many are still moving forward, and it will be quite exciting to see what Walt Disney World’s second gate will look like once it’s all completed. Most of the changes are expected to be complete by next year, in time for Epcot’s 40th anniversary.
  • Disney World to Give Cinderella Castle and Other Park Landmarks a Makeover for 50th Anniversary

    • “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” kicks off Oct. 1, on Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and runs for 18 months
    • Walt Disney World’s iconic landmarks are getting a “royal makeover” in honor of the upcoming “World’s Most Magical Celebration,” kicking off Oct. 1 to mark the Florida resort’s 50th anniversary.
    • On Friday, Disney Parks unveiled artists’ renderings of the four Florida parks’ centerpieces: Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom, the Hollywood Tower Hotel at Hollywood Studios, Spaceship Earth at EPCOT and the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom.
    • “As part of the celebration, Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park will add to its royal makeover from last year,” a post on the official Disney Parks blog explains. “As you can see in this new artist rendering, the castle will feature golden bunting and a 50th-anniversary crest as part of its festive new look.”
    • When night falls, the castle and the landmarks of the other three parks will transform into “Beacons of Magic,” adding a shimmering optical element to each, like “pixie dust on Cinderella Castle” and “magical fireflies inhabiting the Tree of Life.”
    • EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth will get new lights on the reflective panels over the iconic sphere’s surface “resembling stars in a nighttime sky.” That addition will be permanent, lasting beyond the event’s 18-month timeframe.
    • Also on the lineup for sparkling new looks? Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who will sport new coordinating fashions featuring “EARidescent fabric with gold highlights.”
    • Disney Parks’ unveiling of their landmarks’ new looks comes seven months after Magic Kingdom Park saw another update to Cinderella Castle, ahead of the park’s reopening amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The update was first announced earlier in 2020 as a way to honor the 70th anniversary of the release of the animated movie Cinderella.
    • On top of a fresh coat of blush-pink paint to its upper exterior walls, the royal blue rooftops and turrets also looked much bolder courtesy of added gold ornamentation decorating the spires, ramparts and entrance archway of the castle’s façade.

    • Today, on This Week in Star Wars on StarWars.com, some big book news dropped. Secrets of the Sith from Insight Editions was announced. Following the terrific Secrets of the Jedi (2019), author Marc Sumerak and artist Sergio Gómez Silván return to lift the dark veil behind some of the galaxy’s most infamous Sith Lords.
    • Told from the perspective of Darth Sidious, the Sith Master will guide you through the history of the Sith. I had a lot of fun with the interactive features in Secrets of the Jedi, so I imagine this will have similar features. I’m curious how author Marc Sumerak will address the inclusion of Snoke, Kylo Ren, Asaj Ventress, and Savage Opress – none of who are Sith but dark side actors in the Sith’s plans. I’m curious to see.
    • The team at Insight Editions always deliver and this sounds like it will be no exception. Very pleased Marc Sumerak and Sergio Gómez Silván are returning, as Secrets of the Jedi is one of my favorite books to show casual or non-Star Wars fans. The interactive features help immerse the reader in the history of the Jedi, told by Luke Skywalker, so it’s great to see the Sith will get a similar spotlight.
    • From Insight Editions
      • Join Emperor Palpatine, otherwise known as Darth Sidious, in this exploration of the Sith and the evil allies of the dark side. Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith will thrill young fans with dark-side knowledge, incredible artwork, and interactive features, such as pop-ups, booklets, and lift-the-flap inserts.
      • Experience the power of the dark side: Narrated by Emperor Palpatine, this book will give young readers insight into the might of the dark side.
      • Learn about some of the greatest Star Wars dark-sidevillains: Spanning films, television shows, books, comics, and video games, Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith chronicles some of the dark side’s most infamous practitioners, including Darth Maul, Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress, Darth Vader, the Grand Inquisitor, and Kylo Ren.
      • Amazing original illustrations: Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith is a beautifully illustrated children’s book that readers will want to revisit time and again. Including a frameable 11″ x 17″ poster of the cover art, this book is a great gift for Star Wars fans.
      • Full of exciting interactive features: Pop-ups, booklets, and lift-the-flap inserts will thrill young fans, making for an engaging experience while delving into stories about the Sith.
      • The perfect addition to any Star Wars library: This beautifully bound hardcover book is a must-have for any young fan’s collection.
    • Secrets of the Sith is available for pre-order and will be available where books are sold on August 3rd. Embrace the dark side! Check out StarWars.com for more information!
  • Disney Spokesperson Says Gina Carano’s Cara Dune Will Not Be Recast in ‘The Mandalorian’
  • https://www.indiewire.com/2021/02/lucasfilm-recast-gina-carano-cara-dune-mandalorian-1234617377/
  • http://bit.ly/3qIkAX0
    • With Gina Carano fired from Lucasfilm, many “Star Wars” fans have been left wondering whether or not Carano’s character, Cara Dune, will be recast for “The Mandalorian” Season 3 and other future spinoff projects.
    • A Disney spokesperson confirms that Cara Dune will not be recast.
    • The Hollywood Reporter originally claimed that insiders were expecting Cara Dune to be recast because of “story and merchandising reasons,” but now a spokesperson says that won’t be the case.
    • The Hollywood Reporter changed their initial report to the following:
      • “A Lucasfilm source says that the Cara Dune role on ‘The Mandalorian’ is not expected to be recast and that she was not part of the Dec. 10 presentation, nor was she engaged in negotiations for future work.”
    • The “Dec. 10 presentation” refers to Disney Investor Day, when the studio announced “The Mandalorian” was getting a slate of spinoff projects.
    • One title, “Rangers of the New Republic,” was rumored to position Carano’s Cara Dune as its lead character.
    • After Carano’s firing last week, reports surfaced that Disney scrapped plans to announce Carano as the star of a “Mandalorian” spinoff following controversial social posts.
    • THR’s latest report claims Cara Dune was never going to factor into the next “Mandalorian” project, this December’s “The Book of Boba Fett.”
    • Earlier this week, Carano revealed Disney and Lucasfilm removed her from “The Mandalorian” Season 2 press tour after she refused to use the studios’ written apology in regards to accusations she was mocking transgender pronouns.
      • “That was heartbreaking, but I didn’t want to take away from the hard work of everyone who worked on the project, so I said ok,” Carano said. “That was the last time I was contacted about any type of public statement or apology from Lucasfilm. I found out through social media, like everyone else, that I had been fired.”
    • Lucasfilm fired Carano February 10 after she ignited outrage for sharing an Instagram story comparing the current U.S. political climate to Nazi Germany.
    • The Instagram story followed other controversial social media posts published over the last several months, including tweets that questioned pandemic mask wearing.
    • Carano announced after her firing that she is now partnering with conservative website The Daily Wire to develop and star in a new feature film.

    • Kim Kardashian has filed to divorce Kanye West after almost 7 years of marriage, but our sources say it’s as amicable as a divorce can be.
    • Kim is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s 4 kids. Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Kanye is fine with the joint custody arrangement, and we’re told both Kim and Ye are committed to co-parenting together.
    • There’s a prenup and we’re told neither party is contesting it. In fact, our sources say they are already far along in reaching a property settlement agreement.
    • The docs, filed by disso queen Laura Wasser, don’t list a date of separation … it’s listed as to be determined. The date is almost irrelevant because their split has been so well-chronicled in the news and social media.
    • This will be Kim’s third divorce. She was married to music producer Damon Thomas before they divorced in 2004. She married Humphries in August 2011 but she filed for divorce after 72 days. This is Kanye’s first divorce.
  • ‘The Walking Dead’ may look and feel a bit different for its final 11th season
  • https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-final-season-11-shoot-digital-2021-2?fbclid=IwAR1engrg0abIO3dAktxtuGB5xqSw2PHCKrQnLSyM0uUmHCs51r2FKxnytLw
  • http://bit.ly/2NL3qcm
    • When “The Walking Dead” returns to AMC on Sunday Feb 28th with six bonus episodes the look of the show may feel slightly different. For the first time, the series was shot digitally instead of on film.
    • “Yes, these episodes are filmed on digital,” showrunner Angela Kang confirmed to Insider of the series’ extended 10th season via email as the show films during the pandemic.
    • “The decision came about because there are fewer ‘touch points’ with digital than 16mm. We don’t have to swap out film every few minutes, for example.
    • If you’re a fan of the show, that’s a big deal.
    • In 2016, “TWD” cinematographer Stephen Campbell spoke with The American Society of Cinematographers in great detail about the approach to shooting the series with a consistent look on film for years.
    • “One of the things that drives the show is the fact that we shoot on 16mm film,” Campbell said.
    • After the first six-episode season, the series briefly considered filming digitally, before committing to film.
    • “Although they did test digital formats during the second season, they decided, ‘That’s not the show,'” Campbell said. “Because the show, being on 16mm, has additional grain in it. It has motion blur, if only because it’s still going through a gate. That adds a bit of a classic horror vibe to the show. And I think they’ll maintain shooting with film as we go on with the show.”
    • In June 2019, Kang told Variety they considered digital again, but decided to continue shooting on 16mm because there’s “something that differentiates the daytime zombie look that’s on the 16 that is not exactly the same as when we try to mimic it with digital.”
    • Now that the show’s filming digitally, Kang told Insider the show will make post-production efforts to make sure the show continues to have the same look.
    • “We will be continuing on digital in season 11 but using post-production techniques to maintain our classic ‘TWD’ feel,” Kang said via email.
    • The show’s switch to digital for its final episodes is one of many precautions AMC has taken while filming during the pandemic.
    • In addition to changing the way they film the show, AMC enlisted a former Army medic and infectious diseases specialist as the show’s health and safety supervisor. They’re also consulting with an epidemiologist.
    • “We’ve got our own mobile lab to process tests so that there’s no delay in test processing,” Kang told Entertainment Weekly in September. “There’s no more shared makeup trailer. They would all be there and singing karaoke and stuff, but you just can’t do that. So they’ve got their own little pods, but there’s windows so that they can still see each other.”
    • In addition to recommended regulation masks, you’ll see crew and cast wearing face shields.
    • “There’s specific pathways that actors will be taken down so that there’s not a lot of contact between groups,” Kang added.
    • “Fear the Walking Dead” star Christine Evangelista told Insider back in October she was initially worried about going back to work because of the amount of people who work on the show, but she emphasized how impressed she was with the measures put in place. The actress, who plays Sherry, made a big return to the franchise after departing “TWD” in 2017.
    • “Having done it now and being in it is beyond exceeded any expectation I could have had, but AMC has taken this extraordinarily serious,” Evangelista said.
    • While filming “Fear” last fall, Evangelista said cast would show up to set early and there was a system where you get temperature tested, get COVID-19 tested, and wait in a trailer until you’re released to go to hair and makeup. Some trailers on set are just for hand washing.
    • “If anything, things are way more clean than they ever were before,” Evangelista added. “On a show where you live outside and you’re covered in dirt, whether it’s real or fake, things are very, very, very clean now and very organized. I don’t take that for granted.”
    • For the first time in the franchise’s history, all three ‘Walking Dead’ series are simultaneously filming new seasons.
    • The flagship series began filming its final 11th season in Georgia, Atlanta specifically, while “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” is back to filming in Virginia. “Fear the Walking Dead” is filming its seventh season in Texas, which is currently dealing with a winter storm that has shut down power plants and caused blackouts.
    • When asked how the “FearTWD” cast and crew are faring, an AMC representative confirmed to Insider Thursday that “everyone is safe.”
    • Wednesday, star Karen David shared she was without power or heating. David later shared that her power returned Thursday.
    • “We have no power or heating, but we are making it work. So far, so good. Thankful for gas,” David wrote in part on Instagram. “We have jars and bottles filled up with water, blankets and wearing layers, cupboards are open so our pipes hopefully don’t freeze tonight. Be safe and warm, Texans.”
    • The first of six new “TWD” episodes premieres on AMC on February 28. If you have AMC+, you can watch the first episode a week early starting February 21.
    • “Fear TWD” will premiere the back-half of season six on April 11.

    • Fourteen suits, 58 dress shirts, 300 neckties and various other items of clothing that once belonged to Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek have been donated by the show and the Trebek family to The Doe Fund, an organization that provides paid work, housing, vocational training, continuing education, and comprehensive social services to underserved Americans with histories of addiction, homelessness, and incarceration.
    • At the suggestion of Trebek’s son Matthew Trebek, a supporter of The Doe Fund, the clothing will be distributed to those participating in the organization’s “Ready, Willing and Able” reentry program to be worn on job interviews.
    • “During his last day on set, Alex extolled the virtues of everyone opening up their hands and their hearts to those who are suffering,” said Mike Richards, Executive Producer, Jeopardy!. “Donating his wardrobe to those who are working to rebuild their lives is the perfect way to begin to honor that last request.”
    • The garments were packed up by Matthew Trebek and Jeopardy! costumer Steven Zimbelman, and the final inventory was:
      • 58 dress shirts
      • 14 suits
      • 300 neckties
      • 25 polo shirts
      • 14 sweaters
      • 9 sports coats
      • 9 pairs of dress shoes
      • 15 belts
      • 2 parkas
      • 3 pairs of dress slacks.
    • “We are so grateful for Jeopardy! and the Trebek family’s commitment to lifting up the most vulnerable among us,” said Harriet McDonald, President of The Doe Fund. “The men in our career training programs are always in need of professional attire, so they can shine in their job interviews and work with confidence once they’re hired. This donation alleviates the obstacle of not having appropriate clothing.”
    • Harriet continued, “We understand the enormous loss Matt and Jean are going through, as well as their incredible resilience in the face of hardship. Last week, The Doe Fund’s Founder and President of 35 years, my husband George McDonald, passed away. I’m thankful that George got to see Alex’s suits delivered to the people we serve before he left us. This generous gift honors the legacies of both men, and I know they’re smiling down on us.”
    • Trebek died from pancreatic cancer on Nov. 8, 2020. The game show is being hosted by various temporary guest hosts.

      • Stanley Tucci wants to put you straight about Italy. A land where the sun shines, the nonnas smile and every plate of spaghetti bolognese comes showered in parmesan cheese? Scratch that.
      • “I think in America there are a lot of very specific ideas about what is ‘Italian,’ and one of the reasons I wanted to do [my new] show is to dispel some of those myths about what Italy is,” he tells CNN.
      • “People imagine it’s always sunny and people are playing mandolins and eating pizza and chicken parmigiana — which isn’t even an Italian dish.
      • “Because my parents were so respectful of their heritage, that cultural identity was really important to me, and still is.”
      • For his latest project, the actor is playing himself, as he strives to put the record straight about the country he’s descended from on both sides.
      • Stanley Tucci: Searching For Italy” explores the food of six of Italy’s best loved places: Naples and the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Bologna, Milan, Tuscany and Sicily.
      • But while it all revolves around the food, the Academy Award nominee was keen to get into the history, culture and politics of Italy — and why all those things are inseparable from what’s on your plate.
      • Far from being a land of renaissance towns sandwiched between mountains and the Med, Italy is home to “incredible diversity” geographically, he says.
      • He talks about the “profound effect” its history — Italy is a young country, finally unifying in 1861 — has had on the diet. “Invasions and religion, politics… each region is so distinctly different, not just the topography, but also the food,” he says.
      • Likewise, Italy has had a profound effect on him. Born in the United States, he’s descended from Italian immigrants on both sides — both, in fact, from Calabria, the knobby toe of Italy’s boot.
      • While Tucci grew up in New York State, partial to hamburgers, hot dogs and Velveeta cheese, he also was eating “this really amazing diet” of Italian food at home.
      • The Covid-19 pandemic, he reckons, is one of the few times Italians have felt Italian, rather than regional.
      • “They really came together in a way that certainly America didn’t, or England for that matter,” he says.
      • “You felt that there was a real strong sense of togetherness, which there hadn’t been for a long time.”
      • The show filmed both before the pandemic and after the first wave, in summer 2020. He says he found the Italians “tired, beleaguered by the whole thing, but incredible, open and generous.”

oh yeah some of us actually had to work

0:01:42.799,0:01:48.159
on president oh but that’s okay

0:01:44.880,0:01:49.600
because some of us made up for it for

0:01:48.159,0:01:51.360
the rest of the four days

0:01:49.600,0:01:54.320
well that’s good i’m so glad you made up

0:01:51.360,0:01:56.320
for it yeah and a migraine too

0:01:54.320,0:01:57.439
awesome that makes the day go by faster

0:01:56.320,0:02:00.880
doesn’t it

0:01:57.439,0:02:04.000
yeah yeah so needless to say

0:02:00.880,0:02:07.119
i was happy the week has has ended so

0:02:04.000,0:02:09.440
yeah i think we all are so

0:02:07.119,0:02:10.560
in today’s episode we’re going to talk

0:02:09.440,0:02:12.959
about

0:02:10.560,0:02:15.120
uh walt disney world’s biggest eyesore

0:02:12.959,0:02:18.480
like the show title today

0:02:15.120,0:02:21.920
um but it looks amazing now apparently

0:02:18.480,0:02:23.920
so we’ll see yep there’s some big park

0:02:21.920,0:02:26.400
landmarks that are getting a makeover

0:02:23.920,0:02:28.319
for the 50th anniversary

0:02:26.400,0:02:29.760
then in our tales from the edge of the

0:02:28.319,0:02:32.080
galaxy

0:02:29.760,0:02:34.959
we’ll talk about a new secrets of the

0:02:32.080,0:02:38.160
sith book coming out later this year

0:02:34.959,0:02:40.879
and we’ll close the loop on our

0:02:38.160,0:02:41.200
article from last week about uh whether

0:02:40.879,0:02:43.920
or not

0:02:41.200,0:02:45.599
the cara dune role is going to be recast

0:02:43.920,0:02:48.640
or not

0:02:45.599,0:02:52.319
in our entertainment news uh

0:02:48.640,0:02:55.040
love isn’t so eternal

0:02:52.319,0:02:56.800
we’ll leave that one hanging there yep

0:02:55.040,0:02:57.680
uh the walking dead might feel a little

0:02:56.800,0:03:00.640
bit different

0:02:57.680,0:03:03.040
uh this year uh this season rather for

0:03:00.640,0:03:06.319
their what’s it season 11 i think right

0:03:03.040,0:03:10.480
uh well it’s the second half of 10

0:03:06.319,0:03:13.760
but also part of 11. right yeah okay

0:03:10.480,0:03:16.159
uh and then we’ll talk about uh what

0:03:13.760,0:03:18.720
happened to a special wardrobe and how

0:03:16.159,0:03:19.840
it’s helping out others now

0:03:18.720,0:03:21.840
and then we’ll finish up with our

0:03:19.840,0:03:22.480
insightful picks of the week ready to

0:03:21.840,0:03:33.840
get into it

0:03:22.480,0:03:33.840
sure all right

0:03:34.720,0:03:39.519
a little bit faster nice i like it

0:03:37.360,0:03:42.560
pretty good there

0:03:39.519,0:03:45.680
that was nice go for disney detective

0:03:42.560,0:03:46.080
so walt disney world’s biggest eyesore

0:03:45.680,0:03:49.120
is

0:03:46.080,0:03:51.200
back and it kinda looks amazing so walt

0:03:49.120,0:03:54.159
disney world is an incredibly

0:03:51.200,0:03:55.920
creative place where some truly amazing

0:03:54.159,0:03:58.560
concepts have come to life

0:03:55.920,0:03:59.439
and however not all of them have been

0:03:58.560,0:04:02.239
great

0:03:59.439,0:04:03.840
the concept for leave a legacy wasn’t

0:04:02.239,0:04:06.959
that bad

0:04:03.840,0:04:09.040
as part of the walt disney world

0:04:06.959,0:04:11.439
millennium celebration guests had the

0:04:09.040,0:04:13.840
ability to commemorate their visit

0:04:11.439,0:04:14.879
by leaving a small image of themselves

0:04:13.840,0:04:17.560
at epcot

0:04:14.879,0:04:20.000
that would be there for years to come

0:04:17.560,0:04:23.040
unfortunately the display of those

0:04:20.000,0:04:24.479
tiny monochrome pictures left something

0:04:23.040,0:04:27.040
to be desired

0:04:24.479,0:04:27.600
the entrance of epcot became a series of

0:04:27.040,0:04:30.639
big

0:04:27.600,0:04:33.759
giant granite monoliths covered in

0:04:30.639,0:04:35.520
gray and black titles it was less than

0:04:33.759,0:04:36.000
exciting to be the first thing that you

0:04:35.520,0:04:38.240
saw

0:04:36.000,0:04:39.759
when you first walked through the gates

0:04:38.240,0:04:40.960
you know as you can remember

0:04:39.759,0:04:43.199
you know you walked through the gates

0:04:40.960,0:04:46.160
and then you just saw these big giant

0:04:43.199,0:04:47.840
gray monoliths with these little tiny

0:04:46.160,0:04:50.639
pictures on it

0:04:47.840,0:04:51.840
so it really you know wasn’t very

0:04:50.639,0:04:55.199
attractive

0:04:51.840,0:04:58.160
so as part of the massive redesign for

0:04:55.199,0:04:58.639
epcot that is currently underway they

0:04:58.160,0:05:02.160
had

0:04:58.639,0:05:04.960
removed all of the leave a legacy

0:05:02.160,0:05:06.639
blocks but because guests were promised

0:05:04.960,0:05:09.280
that their images would remain

0:05:06.639,0:05:10.080
on display for 20 years we knew that

0:05:09.280,0:05:13.280
they were going to be

0:05:10.080,0:05:13.600
placed someplace else because you know

0:05:13.280,0:05:15.120
they

0:05:13.600,0:05:17.120
they said they weren’t going to totally

0:05:15.120,0:05:19.680
destroy them they were just going to put

0:05:17.120,0:05:21.759
them someplace else

0:05:19.680,0:05:23.039
so they actually did a whole new

0:05:21.759,0:05:25.759
redesign of it

0:05:23.039,0:05:27.440
and now it’s actually in color and it

0:05:25.759,0:05:29.199
looks really pretty so

0:05:27.440,0:05:31.520
as you went through the story there were

0:05:29.199,0:05:34.240
some uh pictures of

0:05:31.520,0:05:36.560
how it is so instead of it you know kind

0:05:34.240,0:05:40.080
of blocking the way it’s kind of

0:05:36.560,0:05:43.120
leading the way and it’s all colors

0:05:40.080,0:05:47.120
and you know all nice and and pretty

0:05:43.120,0:05:50.639
uh and not this gray you know

0:05:47.120,0:05:53.680
blah ness that that it was um

0:05:50.639,0:05:56.639
so obviously it’s it’s

0:05:53.680,0:05:59.600
um you know it’s been there for a while

0:05:56.639,0:06:01.759
uh the program actually ran from 1999

0:05:59.600,0:06:04.479
until 2007

0:06:01.759,0:06:05.520
and now anybody that had participated in

0:06:04.479,0:06:08.000
it

0:06:05.520,0:06:08.960
you’ll be able to scan a qr code to be

0:06:08.000,0:06:11.840
able to find

0:06:08.960,0:06:12.400
where your picture is because obviously

0:06:11.840,0:06:14.880
now

0:06:12.400,0:06:16.479
things have kind of been you know moved

0:06:14.880,0:06:20.080
around

0:06:16.479,0:06:23.360
so so this is part of you know epcot’s

0:06:20.080,0:06:25.199
40th anniversary the the

0:06:23.360,0:06:26.880
you know the the revamping that they’re

0:06:25.199,0:06:29.680
doing so this was one that

0:06:26.880,0:06:30.639
has now been completed so so now with

0:06:29.680,0:06:32.560
this they were not

0:06:30.639,0:06:34.639
opening it up to new ones right it

0:06:32.560,0:06:37.360
wasn’t nobody was getting

0:06:34.639,0:06:39.199
any new ones and they they never said

0:06:37.360,0:06:40.840
how long because you figure for

0:06:39.199,0:06:43.120
you know people that have had it since

0:06:40.840,0:06:45.280
1999

0:06:43.120,0:06:46.800
their 20 years is up like i actually

0:06:45.280,0:06:50.160
have a photo there

0:06:46.800,0:06:51.039
um and it’s been there for over 20 years

0:06:50.160,0:06:52.800
now so

0:06:51.039,0:06:54.800
you know i honestly didn’t even realize

0:06:52.800,0:06:58.000
it was supposed to be there for 20 years

0:06:54.800,0:07:01.360
um i also had a stone

0:06:58.000,0:07:02.639
um in the walkway which got all ripped

0:07:01.360,0:07:05.919
up

0:07:02.639,0:07:09.440
last year um in disney uh you know

0:07:05.919,0:07:11.919
with redoing uh various things and

0:07:09.440,0:07:13.680
with the bricks they basically just

0:07:11.919,0:07:16.319
threw them out they destroyed them

0:07:13.680,0:07:17.759
they didn’t even give people options the

0:07:16.319,0:07:20.720
only thing that you could do

0:07:17.759,0:07:22.400
you can get a commemorative version or

0:07:20.720,0:07:25.759
if you never bought one

0:07:22.400,0:07:28.639
you could get one um made

0:07:25.759,0:07:30.319
whereas with uh the the picture it’s a

0:07:28.639,0:07:31.520
metal picture so it’s not like they’d

0:07:30.319,0:07:33.599
cut it out

0:07:31.520,0:07:35.520
you know i couldn’t see them cutting out

0:07:33.599,0:07:38.800
and hey you want to mail it you know

0:07:35.520,0:07:39.360
um but you know it’s still kind of cool

0:07:38.800,0:07:42.400
to be

0:07:39.360,0:07:44.160
you know part of the the park that’s a

0:07:42.400,0:07:44.960
shame you’re not a permanent part of the

0:07:44.160,0:07:47.520
park though

0:07:44.960,0:07:48.319
right right i’m only temporarily allowed

0:07:47.520,0:07:53.280
to be there

0:07:48.319,0:07:54.400
i’m a tap i’m a 20-year temp no less

0:07:53.280,0:07:57.120
how long you’ve been at your current

0:07:54.400,0:07:57.919
company 21 years thank you very much

0:07:57.120,0:08:00.560
there you go

0:07:57.919,0:08:01.680
see all right well that’s kind of cool

0:08:00.560,0:08:03.199
at least they brought them back

0:08:01.680,0:08:04.720
in there and they’re not getting rid of

0:08:03.199,0:08:05.520
them at this point because it was kind

0:08:04.720,0:08:07.440
of neat walking

0:08:05.520,0:08:09.039
yeah it was definitely neat and i have a

0:08:07.440,0:08:12.080
funny story so

0:08:09.039,0:08:15.759
i when i got my my first one

0:08:12.080,0:08:18.400
done i was married to someone else so

0:08:15.759,0:08:19.919
our picture is there and we had gone on

0:08:18.400,0:08:22.080
a vacation with

0:08:19.919,0:08:23.360
a friend of mine as well so the three of

0:08:22.080,0:08:24.639
us actually got our picture but you

0:08:23.360,0:08:27.680
could only have

0:08:24.639,0:08:30.319
two or one or two people in your photo

0:08:27.680,0:08:32.959
but as it turned out the way because we

0:08:30.319,0:08:35.120
took ours in succession

0:08:32.959,0:08:36.719
you got to see the three of us together

0:08:35.120,0:08:40.080
in in a row

0:08:36.719,0:08:41.039
well you know couple weeks after it had

0:08:40.080,0:08:42.800
gone up because

0:08:41.039,0:08:44.640
we took your picture we took our picture

0:08:42.800,0:08:46.800
but it didn’t go up

0:08:44.640,0:08:48.880
until weeks after you know we had

0:08:46.800,0:08:52.080
already returned home from our trip

0:08:48.880,0:08:52.560
um so couple you know months later or

0:08:52.080,0:08:55.680
whatever

0:08:52.560,0:08:57.920
a friend of mine chris uh who

0:08:55.680,0:08:59.760
lived and actually at the time worked

0:08:57.920,0:09:02.240
down in disney happened to

0:08:59.760,0:09:03.519
be down there you know going to the park

0:09:02.240,0:09:05.920
after work one day

0:09:03.519,0:09:07.440
and he had another friend of his who had

0:09:05.920,0:09:09.360
gotten his photo taken

0:09:07.440,0:09:11.360
and he was like oh can you go and look

0:09:09.360,0:09:13.760
for my photo here’s where it should be

0:09:11.360,0:09:14.880
he goes and looks for it and here’s his

0:09:13.760,0:09:18.080
friend

0:09:14.880,0:09:20.160
and there we are we were like three rows

0:09:18.080,0:09:21.279
up so we had obviously taken our picture

0:09:20.160,0:09:23.839
within

0:09:21.279,0:09:24.480
you know a couple of hours maybe of each

0:09:23.839,0:09:26.080
other

0:09:24.480,0:09:28.320
and chris just thought it was kind of

0:09:26.080,0:09:29.440
cool because he had you know this area

0:09:28.320,0:09:32.240
where he knew

0:09:29.440,0:09:34.160
you know six people in one little you

0:09:32.240,0:09:36.959
know spot so that was kind of a cool

0:09:34.160,0:09:40.399
little thing so tell us about the

0:09:36.959,0:09:42.240
makeover so walt disney world is going

0:09:40.399,0:09:45.200
to give cinderella castle and

0:09:42.240,0:09:47.360
under other park landmarks a makeover

0:09:45.200,0:09:51.600
for the 50th anniversary

0:09:47.360,0:09:53.360
so they had just announced last week

0:09:51.600,0:09:55.839
that the world’s most magical

0:09:53.360,0:09:56.640
celebration will be kicking off october

0:09:55.839,0:09:59.440
1st

0:09:56.640,0:10:00.240
on walt disney world’s 50th anniversary

0:09:59.440,0:10:03.040
and will run

0:10:00.240,0:10:04.880
for 18 months walt disney world’s

0:10:03.040,0:10:07.200
historic landmarks are getting

0:10:04.880,0:10:08.560
a royal makeover in honor of the

0:10:07.200,0:10:11.920
upcoming

0:10:08.560,0:10:14.880
world’s most magical celebration

0:10:11.920,0:10:16.240
on friday disney parks unveiled artists

0:10:14.880,0:10:19.120
renderings of the four

0:10:16.240,0:10:20.240
park centerpieces cinderella’s castle at

0:10:19.120,0:10:22.000
magic kingdom

0:10:20.240,0:10:23.680
the hollywood tower of terror at

0:10:22.000,0:10:26.240
hollywood studios

0:10:23.680,0:10:28.079
spaceship earth at epcot and the tree of

0:10:26.240,0:10:30.079
life at animal kingdom

0:10:28.079,0:10:31.680
they said as part of the celebration

0:10:30.079,0:10:34.480
cinderella’s

0:10:31.680,0:10:36.720
castle at magic kingdom park will add to

0:10:34.480,0:10:37.279
its royal makeover from last year they

0:10:36.720,0:10:40.240
had

0:10:37.279,0:10:40.959
started to repaint and everything so now

0:10:40.240,0:10:44.160
they’re going to

0:10:40.959,0:10:46.399
be adding a little bit more

0:10:44.160,0:10:47.440
as you can see from the the different

0:10:46.399,0:10:50.480
renderings

0:10:47.440,0:10:52.320
um and then when night falls the castle

0:10:50.480,0:10:53.680
and the landmarks of the other three

0:10:52.320,0:10:56.560
parks will transform

0:10:53.680,0:10:57.279
into beacons of magic adding a

0:10:56.560,0:11:00.160
shimmering

0:10:57.279,0:11:01.839
optical element to each like pixie dust

0:11:00.160,0:11:04.640
on cinderella’s castle

0:11:01.839,0:11:06.399
and magical fireflies that will inhabit

0:11:04.640,0:11:08.640
the tree of life

0:11:06.399,0:11:10.560
epcot spaceship earth will get new

0:11:08.640,0:11:12.959
lighting on its reflective panels

0:11:10.560,0:11:16.079
over the iconic sphere surface

0:11:12.959,0:11:18.399
resembling stars in a night sky

0:11:16.079,0:11:20.160
that addition will actually be permanent

0:11:18.399,0:11:23.839
lasting beyond

0:11:20.160,0:11:26.240
the 18-month celebration also

0:11:23.839,0:11:27.200
as part of the lineup mickey and minnie

0:11:26.240,0:11:31.040
will be sporting

0:11:27.200,0:11:34.160
new coordinating fashions featuring

0:11:31.040,0:11:37.600
ear adescent fabric

0:11:34.160,0:11:37.600
with gold highlights

0:11:38.000,0:11:41.680
disney parks unveiled their landmarks

0:11:40.399,0:11:44.959
new look

0:11:41.680,0:11:45.519
which comes seven months after we saw

0:11:44.959,0:11:48.160
the other

0:11:45.519,0:11:49.760
update to cinderella’s castle which was

0:11:48.160,0:11:53.120
ahead of the opening

0:11:49.760,0:11:56.240
after um you know the the

0:11:53.120,0:11:59.120
pandemic and

0:11:56.240,0:12:00.240
uh they were first announcing early in

0:11:59.120,0:12:02.399
2020

0:12:00.240,0:12:04.480
that they were making all these changes

0:12:02.399,0:12:07.040
to cinderella’s castle to coincide with

0:12:04.480,0:12:10.320
the 70th anniversary

0:12:07.040,0:12:12.959
of the release of cinderella

0:12:10.320,0:12:13.360
um so they’re it’s getting a fresh coat

0:12:12.959,0:12:17.200
of

0:12:13.360,0:12:20.320
pic it’s getting a fresh

0:12:17.200,0:12:23.440
coat of blush pink paint

0:12:20.320,0:12:26.959
to its upper interior walls royal

0:12:23.440,0:12:29.920
blue rooftops and turrets and

0:12:26.959,0:12:31.519
also a bolder look with adding some gold

0:12:29.920,0:12:34.240
ornaments as well

0:12:31.519,0:12:35.279
okay well would be nice if we can

0:12:34.240,0:12:37.200
actually get down there and

0:12:35.279,0:12:38.399
see it though wouldn’t it well we got 18

0:12:37.200,0:12:41.440
months so

0:12:38.399,0:12:43.279
and it’s 18 months as of october

0:12:41.440,0:12:44.720
so there’s a chance there’s a chance we

0:12:43.279,0:12:48.079
we might actually get there

0:12:44.720,0:12:52.160
because you figure it’ll start in 2021

0:12:48.079,0:12:52.720
and it’ll go through all of 2022 so yeah

0:12:52.160,0:12:55.200
that would

0:12:52.720,0:12:56.399
we could probably we could probably pull

0:12:55.200,0:13:00.880
it off

0:12:56.399,0:13:01.600
for next assuming a zombie apocalypse

0:13:00.880,0:13:05.040
has

0:13:01.600,0:13:07.040
subsided by then here’s to hoping yeah

0:13:05.040,0:13:08.079
so that was all we had for disney

0:13:07.040,0:13:10.720
detective

0:13:08.079,0:13:20.639
we’ll be back in a minute with our tales

[Applause]

[Music]

0:14:32.880,0:14:38.720
a little more peppy very nice i like it

0:14:36.160,0:14:39.199
go for tails from the edge of the galaxy

0:14:38.720,0:14:42.079
so

0:14:39.199,0:14:43.120
we had uh some some news come out that

0:14:42.079,0:14:46.639
it seems the

0:14:43.120,0:14:48.000
secret of the sith from insight editions

0:14:46.639,0:14:50.399
has announced that

0:14:48.000,0:14:52.079
uh a new book is going to be coming out

0:14:50.399,0:14:56.000
and it is available

0:14:52.079,0:14:58.240
for pre-order um it seems in 2019

0:14:56.000,0:15:00.079
they actually came out with the secrets

0:14:58.240,0:15:02.320
of the jedi book

0:15:00.079,0:15:04.560
and now the same authors are coming out

0:15:02.320,0:15:06.639
with a secrets of the sith

0:15:04.560,0:15:09.519
so it is told from the perspective of

0:15:06.639,0:15:11.600
darth sidious the sith master

0:15:09.519,0:15:13.279
who will guide you through the history

0:15:11.600,0:15:14.880
of the sith

0:15:13.279,0:15:16.399
the person that wrote the article talked

0:15:14.880,0:15:19.040
about there was a lot of

0:15:16.399,0:15:21.760
interactive features with the secret of

0:15:19.040,0:15:24.959
the jedi book so he’s hoping that they

0:15:21.760,0:15:28.480
kind of do the same thing

0:15:24.959,0:15:29.519
with the secret of the sith and how

0:15:28.480,0:15:32.959
they’re going to

0:15:29.519,0:15:36.079
address you know all the other uh siths

0:15:32.959,0:15:40.079
in the story like snoke and kylo ren

0:15:36.079,0:15:42.959
um you know and and whatnot

0:15:40.079,0:15:44.160
um so the team at inside editions always

0:15:42.959,0:15:46.399
delivers

0:15:44.160,0:15:47.440
and this sounds like it’ll be no

0:15:46.399,0:15:50.880
exception

0:15:47.440,0:15:52.160
uh so the again the same uh artist and

0:15:50.880,0:15:55.600
writer who wrote

0:15:52.160,0:15:58.880
the secret of the jedi are working on

0:15:55.600,0:16:00.880
on this as well um so it talks about how

0:15:58.880,0:16:03.120
you know join emperor palpatine

0:16:00.880,0:16:04.720
otherwise known as darth sidious and the

0:16:03.120,0:16:07.440
exploration of the sith

0:16:04.720,0:16:09.759
and the evil allies of the dark side

0:16:07.440,0:16:12.959
star wars the secret of the cis

0:16:09.759,0:16:13.440
sith say that five times fast whoa well

0:16:12.959,0:16:15.839
thrill

0:16:13.440,0:16:17.199
young fans with dark side knowledge

0:16:15.839,0:16:19.680
incredible artwork

0:16:17.199,0:16:20.839
and an interactive feature such as

0:16:19.680,0:16:24.720
pop-ups

0:16:20.839,0:16:27.199
booklets and lift the flap inserts

0:16:24.720,0:16:28.320
it almost reminds me of some of your

0:16:27.199,0:16:30.480
other

0:16:28.320,0:16:32.480
jedi books that you have and some of

0:16:30.480,0:16:34.480
your other sith books that you have

0:16:32.480,0:16:36.160
that are you know that interactiveness

0:16:34.480,0:16:38.320
where you open it up and there’s

0:16:36.160,0:16:40.240
you know you lift this flip and that

0:16:38.320,0:16:42.000
flap so it kind of sounds like

0:16:40.240,0:16:43.519
this might be a really good anniversary

0:16:42.000,0:16:46.240
present maybe just

0:16:43.519,0:16:47.600
just saying for you sure i’ll get it for

0:16:46.240,0:16:50.880
you

0:16:47.600,0:16:54.000
if you really want it no for you

0:16:50.880,0:16:56.480
silly it’s obviously the perfect

0:16:54.000,0:17:00.320
addition to any star wars library

0:16:56.480,0:17:03.360
it’s beautifully bound a hardcover book

0:17:00.320,0:17:05.520
and it will be available august 3rd but

0:17:03.360,0:17:07.360
pre-sales are available now

0:17:05.520,0:17:09.600
sounds good yeah the other ones that we

0:17:07.360,0:17:11.679
have in the series actually came

0:17:09.600,0:17:13.039
the first editions came in okay

0:17:11.679,0:17:17.039
commemorative holders

0:17:13.039,0:17:19.919
okay so the one has the the one jedi one

0:17:17.039,0:17:22.319
um had the case that it came in that you

0:17:19.919,0:17:24.959
pushed a button and automatically right

0:17:22.319,0:17:25.439
right right right sith one came in the

0:17:24.959,0:17:28.799
the

0:17:25.439,0:17:31.520
the pyramid right the model right

0:17:28.799,0:17:32.000
okay and that opens up automatically and

0:17:31.520,0:17:34.240
presents

0:17:32.000,0:17:36.160
the book right so you know they do a

0:17:34.240,0:17:37.679
very good job of of how they package it

0:17:36.160,0:17:40.080
so i’d be curious how uh

0:17:37.679,0:17:41.440
how they’re gonna package this one so

0:17:40.080,0:17:43.440
but hey anything

0:17:41.440,0:17:44.880
anything seth is good well and that was

0:17:43.440,0:17:46.640
what kind of caught my eye it was like

0:17:44.880,0:17:49.840
yeah jedi

0:17:46.640,0:17:52.960
exactly but it was sith yay we are not

0:17:49.840,0:17:52.960
supporters of the jedi

0:17:54.610,0:18:00.000
[Laughter]

0:17:57.200,0:18:00.559
so let’s let’s uh close the loop on our

0:18:00.000,0:18:02.400
uh

0:18:00.559,0:18:03.760
cara dunes story are they gonna be

0:18:02.400,0:18:07.200
recasting her

0:18:03.760,0:18:08.240
nope well that’s about it huh okay

0:18:07.200,0:18:11.120
that’s about it

0:18:08.240,0:18:12.640
so it seems a disney spokesperson says

0:18:11.120,0:18:17.360
uh that cara dune will

0:18:12.640,0:18:19.679
not be recast in mandalorian obviously

0:18:17.360,0:18:21.760
that was the big news that that came out

0:18:19.679,0:18:23.919
uh the other week

0:18:21.760,0:18:25.600
and it kind of left star wars fans

0:18:23.919,0:18:28.880
wondering whether or not

0:18:25.600,0:18:29.919
her character uh was going to be recast

0:18:28.880,0:18:32.400
there were you know

0:18:29.919,0:18:33.840
various different outlets you know that

0:18:32.400,0:18:36.320
kind of said well maybe

0:18:33.840,0:18:37.679
you could maybe you don’t maybe you just

0:18:36.320,0:18:40.160
kill off the character

0:18:37.679,0:18:41.120
what do you do um so now a disney

0:18:40.160,0:18:44.240
spokespers

0:18:41.120,0:18:45.679
person has confirmed that cara dune will

0:18:44.240,0:18:47.840
not be recast

0:18:45.679,0:18:50.480
the hollywood reporter had originally

0:18:47.840,0:18:52.000
claimed that insiders were expecting

0:18:50.480,0:18:54.559
cara dune to be recast

0:18:52.000,0:18:55.440
because of the story and merchandising

0:18:54.559,0:18:58.160
reasons

0:18:55.440,0:18:59.440
but now spurs spokesperson says that

0:18:58.160,0:19:01.600
won’t be the case

0:18:59.440,0:19:03.280
um i know there was a separate headline

0:19:01.600,0:19:06.320
that i i briefly saw

0:19:03.280,0:19:09.760
that uh talked about hasbro actually

0:19:06.320,0:19:12.960
pulling uh off of the shelves or

0:19:09.760,0:19:16.720
out of production any toys uh

0:19:12.960,0:19:18.960
that they had with with her

0:19:16.720,0:19:20.799
so again i didn’t pull any of those i

0:19:18.960,0:19:24.080
just kind of saw them

0:19:20.799,0:19:26.480
in passing so the hollywood reporter

0:19:24.080,0:19:27.120
had changed their initial report on the

0:19:26.480,0:19:29.520
following

0:19:27.120,0:19:31.280
where they had said a lucas uh source

0:19:29.520,0:19:33.679
says that the cara dune role

0:19:31.280,0:19:36.080
is not expected to be recast and that

0:19:33.679,0:19:38.960
she was not part of the december 10th

0:19:36.080,0:19:40.080
presentation nor was she engaged in

0:19:38.960,0:19:42.160
negotiations for

0:19:40.080,0:19:44.400
future work and when they talked about

0:19:42.160,0:19:46.480
the december 10th presentation

0:19:44.400,0:19:48.240
that was the disney investor day where

0:19:46.480,0:19:50.240
they uh were talking about different

0:19:48.240,0:19:53.360
things that were going on

0:19:50.240,0:19:54.160
with the studio um and with the

0:19:53.360,0:19:56.559
different uh

0:19:54.160,0:19:57.360
spin-offs because as we had heard or

0:19:56.559,0:19:59.280
rumored

0:19:57.360,0:20:00.640
she was going to be part of rangers of

0:19:59.280,0:20:02.640
the new republic

0:20:00.640,0:20:03.679
um there was also talk that she was

0:20:02.640,0:20:06.240
going to be

0:20:03.679,0:20:07.440
in the you know the boba fett story at

0:20:06.240,0:20:10.640
some point in time

0:20:07.440,0:20:13.760
so obviously now all of those

0:20:10.640,0:20:17.120
uh future projects for the character

0:20:13.760,0:20:20.880
have now just been done

0:20:17.120,0:20:22.240
gone see you bye it’s unfortunate

0:20:20.880,0:20:24.640
you know like we said last week the

0:20:22.240,0:20:28.720
character itself was a very strong

0:20:24.640,0:20:28.720
uh role model type character

0:20:28.880,0:20:34.400
but you know you you say things and you

0:20:32.400,0:20:37.360
do things in a public environment

0:20:34.400,0:20:39.280
yep that gets you into trouble now you

0:20:37.360,0:20:41.600
know granted she’s entitled her opinion

0:20:39.280,0:20:42.799
she’s trying to think what she says but

0:20:41.600,0:20:44.400
when you work for

0:20:42.799,0:20:46.320
a company like disney you’re not

0:20:44.400,0:20:47.039
entitled to say whatever you want if you

0:20:46.320,0:20:49.760
want to stay

0:20:47.039,0:20:50.799
under contract right exactly and disney

0:20:49.760,0:20:52.480
was well

0:20:50.799,0:20:54.640
you know there there were a couple of

0:20:52.480,0:20:57.840
other articles where

0:20:54.640,0:21:01.120
you know she was kind of going

0:20:57.840,0:21:03.679
off at the mouth again saying you know

0:21:01.120,0:21:06.080
that disney was the real bully and

0:21:03.679,0:21:08.799
everything and blah blah blah blah blah

0:21:06.080,0:21:10.559
well there are other you know she heard

0:21:08.799,0:21:12.480
there have already been

0:21:10.559,0:21:14.960
talks that she already has other

0:21:12.480,0:21:17.039
projects lined up with other

0:21:14.960,0:21:19.280
producers and other directors and stuff

0:21:17.039,0:21:21.360
and that’s fine that and

0:21:19.280,0:21:22.480
and good for her that she you know

0:21:21.360,0:21:25.039
hasn’t been

0:21:22.480,0:21:25.760
blacklisted yeah you know that she found

0:21:25.039,0:21:27.679
something

0:21:25.760,0:21:28.799
she’s just not going to work for disney

0:21:27.679,0:21:31.360
disney

0:21:28.799,0:21:33.600
a very specific type of audience that it

0:21:31.360,0:21:35.760
goes for absolutely and

0:21:33.600,0:21:37.200
if you’re not going to tote the disney

0:21:35.760,0:21:39.760
line and and that’s

0:21:37.200,0:21:40.640
that’s anything that’s disney movies tv

0:21:39.760,0:21:43.679
shows

0:21:40.640,0:21:45.840
the theme parks parks yeah i mean

0:21:43.679,0:21:47.679
cast members in the stores if you’re not

0:21:45.840,0:21:49.600
going to

0:21:47.679,0:21:51.440
the disney line then you’re welcome to

0:21:49.600,0:21:54.159
leave and go work somewhere else

0:21:51.440,0:21:56.000
yeah and that’s really what this was and

0:21:54.159,0:21:57.840
unfortunately because of the subject

0:21:56.000,0:21:59.760
matter involved

0:21:57.840,0:22:01.760
it’s becoming more of a political thing

0:21:59.760,0:22:03.919
than uh you know

0:22:01.760,0:22:05.120
what the company prefers it spokespeople

0:22:03.919,0:22:06.799
right exactly

0:22:05.120,0:22:08.080
so but you know we wish her well i’m

0:22:06.799,0:22:08.720
sure she’ll land on her feet and she’ll

0:22:08.080,0:22:11.600
be fine

0:22:08.720,0:22:13.200
yeah so that was it for our tales from

0:22:11.600,0:22:15.600
the edge of the galaxy

0:22:13.200,0:22:19.520
we’ll be back in a minute with our

0:23:38.240,0:23:42.320
this is the interactive entertaining

0:23:40.799,0:23:44.400
portion of the show

0:23:42.320,0:23:46.080
it apparently entertains you that’s for

0:23:44.400,0:23:50.000
sure it does

0:23:46.080,0:23:54.080
i don’t care go for entertainment this

0:23:50.000,0:23:58.080
is so sad kim kardashian files for

0:23:54.080,0:24:04.799
divorce from kanye west

0:23:58.080,0:24:08.000
love to love whatever final for divorce

0:24:04.799,0:24:10.320
so yeah wow honestly

0:24:08.000,0:24:11.600
i didn’t think it was gonna last as long

0:24:10.320,0:24:14.480
as it did

0:24:11.600,0:24:16.720
i would have definitely been the under

0:24:14.480,0:24:19.679
of you know i would not have given it uh

0:24:16.720,0:24:20.159
that but anyway kim kardashian has filed

0:24:19.679,0:24:22.400
for the

0:24:20.159,0:24:24.960
divorce from kanye west after almost

0:24:22.400,0:24:28.559
seven years of marriage

0:24:24.960,0:24:31.760
but the sources at tmz say that

0:24:28.559,0:24:32.000
it seems to be an amicable divorce kim

0:24:31.760,0:24:34.240
is

0:24:32.000,0:24:36.080
asking for joint legal and physical

0:24:34.240,0:24:39.200
custody of the couple’s four

0:24:36.080,0:24:42.080
children sources to

0:24:39.200,0:24:43.919
tell tmz that kanye is fine with the

0:24:42.080,0:24:47.200
joint custody arrangements

0:24:43.919,0:24:50.400
and that uh both kim

0:24:47.200,0:24:52.960
and he are committed to co-parenting

0:24:50.400,0:24:54.080
together obviously there were prenups

0:24:52.960,0:24:56.320
involved so

0:24:54.080,0:24:57.440
i’m sure that’s gonna you know come out

0:24:56.320,0:24:59.919
as to

0:24:57.440,0:25:00.480
you know who gets what this will be

0:24:59.919,0:25:03.520
kim’s

0:25:00.480,0:25:05.600
third divorce she was married to music

0:25:03.520,0:25:07.440
producer damon thomas before they

0:25:05.600,0:25:10.480
divorced in 2004

0:25:07.440,0:25:13.200
and then she was married uh to humphreys

0:25:10.480,0:25:14.880
uh i don’t remember what his first name

0:25:13.200,0:25:18.159
was the basketball player

0:25:14.880,0:25:21.600
um in august of 2011

0:25:18.159,0:25:24.720
and filed for divorce only after 72 days

0:25:21.600,0:25:26.559
so hey lasted longer you know this time

0:25:24.720,0:25:28.880
around this is our longest one

0:25:26.559,0:25:30.960
and this is obviously kanye’s first

0:25:28.880,0:25:33.919
divorce so

0:25:30.960,0:25:36.240
there you go you never you never wish

0:25:33.919,0:25:39.279
for anyone to get divorced and

0:25:36.240,0:25:40.559
on a from a celebrity standpoint it’s

0:25:39.279,0:25:44.000
kind of inevitable

0:25:40.559,0:25:47.120
right right but on a more serious note

0:25:44.000,0:25:49.120
you know it was alleged that

0:25:47.120,0:25:51.840
a lot of the issues that that happened

0:25:49.120,0:25:55.440
between the two of them were a result of

0:25:51.840,0:25:56.799
um mental health issues right kanye west

0:25:55.440,0:25:58.799
was having

0:25:56.799,0:26:00.480
and apparently she was trying to stick

0:25:58.799,0:26:01.440
with them to get the help that he needed

0:26:00.480,0:26:04.720
and he was

0:26:01.440,0:26:05.360
very resistant to that um so this was

0:26:04.720,0:26:07.679
the ultimate

0:26:05.360,0:26:08.480
outcome of that we hope that he does get

0:26:07.679,0:26:12.000
the help

0:26:08.480,0:26:15.360
absolutely if this is you know what

0:26:12.000,0:26:18.240
caused it or or whatever and it

0:26:15.360,0:26:19.360
brings him some help then you know all

0:26:18.240,0:26:21.200
the better for that

0:26:19.360,0:26:23.200
and you know i’m sure both of them will

0:26:21.200,0:26:27.840
again laying fine on their feet

0:26:23.200,0:26:30.159
i have no doubt about it spouse

0:26:27.840,0:26:31.919
apparently they you know she seems to be

0:26:30.159,0:26:33.520
trying to collect them like uh

0:26:31.919,0:26:36.320
elizabeth taylor yeah she wants the

0:26:33.520,0:26:38.960
whole collection she wants the whole set

0:26:36.320,0:26:40.000
so tell us about walking dead and why

0:26:38.960,0:26:42.720
it’s going to look different

0:26:40.000,0:26:43.440
so it seems when walking dead returns to

0:26:42.720,0:26:46.960
amc

0:26:43.440,0:26:48.640
february 28th with six bonus episodes

0:26:46.960,0:26:50.720
they’re gonna feel a little bit

0:26:48.640,0:26:52.000
different for the first time the series

0:26:50.720,0:26:55.279
was actually shot

0:26:52.000,0:26:58.400
digitally instead of on film

0:26:55.279,0:27:00.799
um the show runner angela cann had uh

0:26:58.400,0:27:02.960
had said yes these episodes were filmed

0:27:00.799,0:27:06.080
on digital

0:27:02.960,0:27:09.200
when they had talked about extending

0:27:06.080,0:27:10.400
season 10 during the pandemic she said

0:27:09.200,0:27:12.720
the decision

0:27:10.400,0:27:14.480
uh came about because there were fewer

0:27:12.720,0:27:17.039
touch points with digital

0:27:14.480,0:27:18.480
than with 16 millimeter we don’t have to

0:27:17.039,0:27:20.880
swap out

0:27:18.480,0:27:22.640
every few minutes for example so if

0:27:20.880,0:27:25.600
you’re a fan of the show

0:27:22.640,0:27:27.600
it’s you know it’s kind of a big deal um

0:27:25.600,0:27:30.159
in 2016

0:27:27.600,0:27:32.240
the uh walking dead cinematographer

0:27:30.159,0:27:35.360
stephen campbell had actually spoke with

0:27:32.240,0:27:38.320
the american society of cinematographers

0:27:35.360,0:27:40.320
in great detail about how they approach

0:27:38.320,0:27:44.080
shooting the series

0:27:40.320,0:27:47.039
um you know that kind of developed over

0:27:44.080,0:27:48.399
the the years that the show has been on

0:27:47.039,0:27:50.000
he said that one of the things that

0:27:48.399,0:27:52.240
drives the show is the fact that we

0:27:50.000,0:27:54.559
shoot it on 16 millimeter film

0:27:52.240,0:27:56.000
uh he had said that after the first six

0:27:54.559,0:27:58.559
episode season

0:27:56.000,0:27:59.679
the series briefly considered filming on

0:27:58.559,0:28:02.480
digital before

0:27:59.679,0:28:05.039
deciding to stick with the film he said

0:28:02.480,0:28:08.559
they did some tests with digital format

0:28:05.039,0:28:11.279
um be uh during the second

0:28:08.559,0:28:12.240
season but decided that it just didn’t

0:28:11.279,0:28:16.240
look right

0:28:12.240,0:28:18.720
um it it just wasn’t part of the show so

0:28:16.240,0:28:20.960
they went back to the 16 millimeter

0:28:18.720,0:28:24.880
um because it has that um you know

0:28:20.960,0:28:26.880
additional green it has some motion blur

0:28:24.880,0:28:28.000
and it kind of just adds to that whole

0:28:26.880,0:28:33.679
horror vibe

0:28:28.000,0:28:33.679
of the show in june of 2019

0:28:33.760,0:28:37.679
angela had had told variety that they

0:28:36.320,0:28:40.000
were considering

0:28:37.679,0:28:40.799
using digital again but decided to

0:28:40.000,0:28:43.520
continue

0:28:40.799,0:28:44.399
using the 16 millimeter because it just

0:28:43.520,0:28:47.600
added

0:28:44.399,0:28:50.640
that zombie look you know to it

0:28:47.600,0:28:52.080
um but now the show because of health

0:28:50.640,0:28:55.600
reasons has gone

0:28:52.080,0:28:58.720
to the fully digital um they said that

0:28:55.600,0:29:01.919
they’ve been doing a lot more pro post

0:28:58.720,0:29:04.640
production work to kind of add in

0:29:01.919,0:29:07.279
that look to it she said we will

0:29:04.640,0:29:09.600
continue doing digital on season 11 but

0:29:07.279,0:29:12.480
using post-production techniques

0:29:09.600,0:29:13.520
to maintain our classic walking dead

0:29:12.480,0:29:15.679
feel

0:29:13.520,0:29:16.880
the show had switched again like i had

0:29:15.679,0:29:19.679
said

0:29:16.880,0:29:21.840
during the final episodes in one of the

0:29:19.679,0:29:24.399
precautions that amc is taking

0:29:21.840,0:29:26.720
during filming the pandemic other

0:29:24.399,0:29:28.880
changes that they uh had made was they

0:29:26.720,0:29:30.880
enlisted a former army medic and

0:29:28.880,0:29:31.600
infectious disease specialist to the

0:29:30.880,0:29:34.240
show

0:29:31.600,0:29:35.520
to help with all the health and safety

0:29:34.240,0:29:37.679
uh concerns

0:29:35.520,0:29:38.880
that they have with having such a big

0:29:37.679,0:29:41.440
cast

0:29:38.880,0:29:42.559
they said we’ve even set up our own lab

0:29:41.440,0:29:45.600
so we can process

0:29:42.559,0:29:47.120
tests so there’s no delay um in in

0:29:45.600,0:29:50.080
testing everybody

0:29:47.120,0:29:50.640
uh there’s no more shared makeup trailer

0:29:50.080,0:29:52.159
um

0:29:50.640,0:29:53.760
you know where everybody would be kind

0:29:52.159,0:29:56.159
of sitting right next to each other

0:29:53.760,0:29:58.080
doing karaoke in the morning now

0:29:56.159,0:29:59.600
everybody’s in little pods

0:29:58.080,0:30:01.279
they’re all next to each other with

0:29:59.600,0:30:02.240
little windows so everybody can still

0:30:01.279,0:30:05.039
see each other

0:30:02.240,0:30:06.320
but everybody is obviously keeping um

0:30:05.039,0:30:09.600
their distance

0:30:06.320,0:30:10.720
um from it the other thing too is they

0:30:09.600,0:30:13.120
have specific

0:30:10.720,0:30:15.039
paths that everybody has to walk through

0:30:13.120,0:30:17.760
so that this way nobody’s

0:30:15.039,0:30:18.880
running into anybody so cast goes down

0:30:17.760,0:30:20.720
this way and

0:30:18.880,0:30:22.320
you know it’s like this whole military

0:30:20.720,0:30:24.000
operation really

0:30:22.320,0:30:26.320
you know when you think about it and i’m

0:30:24.000,0:30:28.240
sure all the other shows

0:30:26.320,0:30:29.679
you know they’re filming at this time

0:30:28.240,0:30:31.840
are kind of doing

0:30:29.679,0:30:33.200
uh the same thing the other thing that

0:30:31.840,0:30:34.320
was kind of interesting that they talked

0:30:33.200,0:30:37.520
about in the article

0:30:34.320,0:30:40.159
is this is the first time that all three

0:30:37.520,0:30:42.080
walking dead shows are actually being

0:30:40.159,0:30:45.039
filmed at the same time

0:30:42.080,0:30:46.480
normally um you know you film one they

0:30:45.039,0:30:46.880
take a little break they go and film the

0:30:46.480,0:30:49.360
other

0:30:46.880,0:30:51.840
they take a break they film but because

0:30:49.360,0:30:55.039
of you know the covid restrictions they

0:30:51.840,0:30:55.440
kind of are all filming um at the same

0:30:55.039,0:30:57.120
time

0:30:55.440,0:30:59.200
different locations but they’re all

0:30:57.120,0:31:01.200
filming um

0:30:59.200,0:31:03.360
right now so it’ll be interesting to see

0:31:01.200,0:31:05.360
what you know what this actually does

0:31:03.360,0:31:06.159
look like you know will we be able to

0:31:05.360,0:31:08.559
see

0:31:06.159,0:31:10.640
a bit of difference uh in the way that

0:31:08.559,0:31:12.880
they’re they’re filming and

0:31:10.640,0:31:15.039
we don’t have much longer to see it’ll

0:31:12.880,0:31:17.120
be february 28th on amc

0:31:15.039,0:31:18.240
if you have amc plus you can actually

0:31:17.120,0:31:21.120
start watching

0:31:18.240,0:31:22.080
uh the first episode starting february

0:31:21.120,0:31:24.880
21st

0:31:22.080,0:31:26.080
interesting i would not have thought the

0:31:24.880,0:31:30.080
switch to digital

0:31:26.080,0:31:32.559
would have been for health reasons um

0:31:30.080,0:31:34.240
but i i can understand having fewer

0:31:32.559,0:31:37.440
touch points not having to swap

0:31:34.240,0:31:39.840
and so forth right um we filmed the

0:31:37.440,0:31:42.559
podcast all digital here

0:31:39.840,0:31:43.440
um so it’s it is nice to not have to

0:31:42.559,0:31:45.279
worry about

0:31:43.440,0:31:46.559
right right you know tapes in and stuff

0:31:45.279,0:31:48.480
like that

0:31:46.559,0:31:50.000
um but any effect that you’re going to

0:31:48.480,0:31:52.720
look for you can definitely

0:31:50.000,0:31:54.000
achieve you know via computer

0:31:52.720,0:31:57.279
post-processing right

0:31:54.000,0:31:59.919
right we can do a lot of the same things

0:31:57.279,0:32:02.080
you know in our post-processing if we uh

0:31:59.919,0:32:04.559
if we chose to do it so

0:32:02.080,0:32:05.360
i’m sure it’ll probably look different

0:32:04.559,0:32:08.559
but

0:32:05.360,0:32:10.240
it’s really not the film process

0:32:08.559,0:32:12.960
that is what makes the show whatever

0:32:10.240,0:32:15.600
it’s the show itself

0:32:12.960,0:32:16.799
yeah um but you know playing it safe do

0:32:15.600,0:32:19.679
it at the last season

0:32:16.799,0:32:20.720
you know for health reasons and you’ve

0:32:19.679,0:32:22.559
got a couple of shows that are going to

0:32:20.720,0:32:23.760
continue on after this you’ve got

0:32:22.559,0:32:25.519
new shows that are going to continue

0:32:23.760,0:32:27.279
after this and if it works out you know

0:32:25.519,0:32:28.399
it’s probably a much more cost effective

0:32:27.279,0:32:31.360
solution as well

0:32:28.399,0:32:32.080
yeah yeah than doing it on film as well

0:32:31.360,0:32:34.559
so

0:32:32.080,0:32:35.760
should be interesting yeah we shall see

0:32:34.559,0:32:38.640
so let’s talk about

0:32:35.760,0:32:40.799
a wardrobe that is helping people out

0:32:38.640,0:32:44.000
yeah this was a really sweet story so

0:32:40.799,0:32:46.880
alex trebek’s wardrobe is being donated

0:32:44.000,0:32:48.080
to a homeless organization for job

0:32:46.880,0:32:51.840
interviews

0:32:48.080,0:32:52.080
14 suits 58 dress shirts 300 neckties

0:32:51.840,0:32:54.240
and

0:32:52.080,0:32:56.640
various other items of clothing that

0:32:54.240,0:32:58.799
once belonged to the jeopardy host

0:32:56.640,0:33:00.320
have now been donated by the show and

0:32:58.799,0:33:02.960
the trebek family

0:33:00.320,0:33:04.880
to the doe fund which is an organization

0:33:02.960,0:33:07.760
that provides paid work

0:33:04.880,0:33:08.799
housing vocational training continuing

0:33:07.760,0:33:11.919
education

0:33:08.799,0:33:15.039
and comprehensive social services for

0:33:11.919,0:33:18.480
undeserving americans

0:33:15.039,0:33:18.720
with histories of addiction homelessness

0:33:18.480,0:33:21.600
and

0:33:18.720,0:33:23.120
incarceration so at the suggestion of

0:33:21.600,0:33:26.320
trebek’s son matthew

0:33:23.120,0:33:26.880
a supporter of the doe fund the clothing

0:33:26.320,0:33:29.240
will be

0:33:26.880,0:33:30.559
distributed to participants in the

0:33:29.240,0:33:33.840
organization’s

0:33:30.559,0:33:36.240
ready willing and able re-entry program

0:33:33.840,0:33:39.919
to be worn on job interviews

0:33:36.240,0:33:42.080
so during his last days on set alex had

0:33:39.919,0:33:42.960
been you know talking about the virtues

0:33:42.080,0:33:45.519
of everyone

0:33:42.960,0:33:47.200
opening up their hands and their hearts

0:33:45.519,0:33:49.679
to those who are suffering

0:33:47.200,0:33:51.840
uh this was a quote from mike richards

0:33:49.679,0:33:52.640
who was the executive producer of

0:33:51.840,0:33:54.799
jeopardy

0:33:52.640,0:33:56.880
he said donating his wardrobe to those

0:33:54.799,0:33:58.399
who are working to rebuild their lives

0:33:56.880,0:34:01.919
is a perfect way

0:33:58.399,0:34:03.760
to honor that last request the garments

0:34:01.919,0:34:07.120
were packed up by matthew

0:34:03.760,0:34:10.399
and the jeopardy uh costumer on

0:34:07.120,0:34:14.320
um you know one of the a couple of

0:34:10.399,0:34:17.919
of weeks ago and again it was

0:34:14.320,0:34:20.399
shirts polo shirts sweaters sports coats

0:34:17.919,0:34:21.440
belts a parka not really sure why he

0:34:20.399,0:34:24.879
needed a parka

0:34:21.440,0:34:28.159
in he used to do on-site

0:34:24.879,0:34:29.520
oh that’s right jeopardy that’s true he

0:34:28.159,0:34:30.879
would go out all right that would make

0:34:29.520,0:34:32.079
sense why he would have i was kind of

0:34:30.879,0:34:35.119
like why did he need

0:34:32.079,0:34:38.320
parka that was kind of okay um

0:34:35.119,0:34:41.040
so uh uh the president of

0:34:38.320,0:34:43.679
the uh doe fund had said we are so

0:34:41.040,0:34:46.000
grateful for jeopardy and for the trebek

0:34:43.679,0:34:47.040
uh trebek family’s commitment to lifting

0:34:46.000,0:34:50.320
up those

0:34:47.040,0:34:52.399
uh most vulnerable around us she had

0:34:50.320,0:34:54.000
said the men in our career training

0:34:52.399,0:34:54.639
program are always in need of

0:34:54.000,0:34:57.359
professional

0:34:54.639,0:34:59.440
attire so they can shine in their job

0:34:57.359,0:35:00.880
interviews and work with confidence once

0:34:59.440,0:35:04.000
they’re hired

0:35:00.880,0:35:05.680
the donation excuse me alleviates the

0:35:04.000,0:35:08.880
obstacle of not having

0:35:05.680,0:35:09.920
appropriate clothing harriet mcdonald

0:35:08.880,0:35:12.880
who is the president

0:35:09.920,0:35:14.880
of the doe fund had said we understand

0:35:12.880,0:35:16.800
the enormous loss that matt and jean are

0:35:14.880,0:35:18.400
going through as well as the incredible

0:35:16.800,0:35:21.520
resilience

0:35:18.400,0:35:23.119
in facing the hardship last week the doe

0:35:21.520,0:35:25.839
funds founder and president

0:35:23.119,0:35:27.040
of 35 years my husband george mcdonald

0:35:25.839,0:35:29.040
had passed away

0:35:27.040,0:35:31.760
i’m thankful that george got to see

0:35:29.040,0:35:34.640
alex’s suits delivered to the people

0:35:31.760,0:35:35.119
we serve before he left us this generous

0:35:34.640,0:35:37.839
gift

0:35:35.119,0:35:39.839
honors the legacies of both men and i

0:35:37.839,0:35:43.200
know they’re both smiling down on

0:35:39.839,0:35:43.680
us that’s a nice story it’s nice to see

0:35:43.200,0:35:46.560
you and i

0:35:43.680,0:35:46.880
and and alex trebek was heavily involved

0:35:46.560,0:35:49.920
in

0:35:46.880,0:35:51.119
various charities absolutely during his

0:35:49.920,0:35:54.400
time he was he was a

0:35:51.119,0:35:55.520
the type of individual who absolutely

0:35:54.400,0:35:58.000
used his

0:35:55.520,0:36:00.160
celebrity and notoriety to help others

0:35:58.000,0:36:02.560
and this is just a great

0:36:00.160,0:36:03.599
you know conclusion to that absolutely a

0:36:02.560,0:36:06.720
way for him to

0:36:03.599,0:36:09.680
kind of live on and help these men

0:36:06.720,0:36:11.359
better themselves you know as well so

0:36:09.680,0:36:12.800
very good

0:36:11.359,0:36:14.800
that was all we had for entertainment

0:36:12.800,0:36:18.240
news yep we will be

0:36:14.800,0:36:20.080
right back with our insightful picks of

0:36:18.240,0:36:23.440
the week

0:36:20.080,0:36:26.000
[Applause]

0:36:23.440,0:36:28.480
oh now we have one more story no did you

0:36:26.000,0:36:28.480
take it out

0:36:28.560,0:36:35.280
oh no this is your pick sorry sorry

0:36:32.000,0:36:37.599
i’m not sorry i was like no

0:36:35.280,0:36:39.440
i think we’re good i’m all right i’m a

0:36:37.599,0:36:42.880
little

0:36:39.440,0:36:44.480
i’m confused it’s okay it’s all good

0:36:42.880,0:36:46.160
go with your insightful pick now they

0:36:44.480,0:36:49.040
screwed up the internet

0:36:46.160,0:36:51.280
sure so my insightful pic is a show that

0:36:49.040,0:36:53.119
is actually on cnn which

0:36:51.280,0:36:55.599
you know you wouldn’t really think it’s

0:36:53.119,0:36:59.200
on you know

0:36:55.599,0:37:02.800
a news network um but it is called

0:36:59.200,0:37:05.119
stanley tucci’s searching for italy

0:37:02.800,0:37:06.800
uh it premiered last sunday night uh

0:37:05.119,0:37:10.880
it’s on sundays at nine o’clock

0:37:06.800,0:37:11.359
on cnn um and it’s it’s kind of a travel

0:37:10.880,0:37:13.839
show

0:37:11.359,0:37:15.119
kind of a food show a little bit of

0:37:13.839,0:37:18.400
history

0:37:15.119,0:37:21.440
um and what it is is stanley tucci uh

0:37:18.400,0:37:24.480
kind of wants to put it straight about

0:37:21.440,0:37:26.800
you know what is italy uh is is it a

0:37:24.480,0:37:29.599
land where the sun always shines

0:37:26.800,0:37:31.040
uh is there lots of plates of you know

0:37:29.599,0:37:34.560
spaghetti

0:37:31.040,0:37:38.400
uh with parmesan do you have lots of

0:37:34.560,0:37:39.760
um chicken parm which chicken parm isn’t

0:37:38.400,0:37:43.359
even an italian

0:37:39.760,0:37:46.960
dish so it’s kind of interesting because

0:37:43.359,0:37:49.440
you see that he has this great love for

0:37:46.960,0:37:50.480
italy both of his parents are originally

0:37:49.440,0:37:53.599
from italy

0:37:50.480,0:37:55.599
he’s been there you know a number of

0:37:53.599,0:37:59.280
times

0:37:55.599,0:38:01.680
since his childhood he actually first

0:37:59.280,0:38:04.800
spent a year in italy when his father

0:38:01.680,0:38:07.839
decided to take a year sabbatical

0:38:04.800,0:38:09.200
from he was an art teacher uh in new

0:38:07.839,0:38:12.320
york and decided

0:38:09.200,0:38:14.720
he wanted to go study art in italy for

0:38:12.320,0:38:15.839
a year so he packed up his family and

0:38:14.720,0:38:19.200
you know

0:38:15.839,0:38:20.000
stanley as a young child went to italian

0:38:19.200,0:38:22.240
school

0:38:20.000,0:38:23.280
you know for a year and and just had

0:38:22.240,0:38:26.400
this you know

0:38:23.280,0:38:29.680
love with it um so it’s that’s kind of

0:38:26.400,0:38:31.119
what the the show is doing um they

0:38:29.680,0:38:32.720
actually had come up with the show

0:38:31.119,0:38:35.440
before the pandemic

0:38:32.720,0:38:36.480
had actually started filming a bunch of

0:38:35.440,0:38:39.119
it before

0:38:36.480,0:38:41.040
everything had happened and then

0:38:39.119,0:38:44.079
actually

0:38:41.040,0:38:47.359
hadn’t finished the series but went back

0:38:44.079,0:38:49.760
after uh things had opened back up in

0:38:47.359,0:38:50.560
the pandemic so they talk a little bit

0:38:49.760,0:38:54.160
about how

0:38:50.560,0:38:56.400
life has changed um where

0:38:54.160,0:38:58.240
uh you know they they the one thing they

0:38:56.400,0:38:58.839
talk about is life in italy it was

0:38:58.240,0:39:01.520
always

0:38:58.839,0:39:03.040
very regional you’re from this part of

0:39:01.520,0:39:03.359
italy you’re from this part of italy

0:39:03.040,0:39:04.720
you’ll

0:39:03.359,0:39:06.800
you know like you’re from here you’re

0:39:04.720,0:39:10.320
from here you’re from here and that

0:39:06.800,0:39:13.280
after everything with the pandemic

0:39:10.320,0:39:14.000
it became we’re all italian we’re all

0:39:13.280,0:39:17.040
from italy

0:39:14.000,0:39:17.920
like it it kind of helped to bond them

0:39:17.040,0:39:20.160
all

0:39:17.920,0:39:21.440
together which is something you haven’t

0:39:20.160,0:39:23.920
really seen

0:39:21.440,0:39:25.280
you know a lot of other countries do and

0:39:23.920,0:39:28.160
especially after how many

0:39:25.280,0:39:30.000
deaths you know they they had and

0:39:28.160,0:39:32.720
everything that they went through

0:39:30.000,0:39:34.720
you know with covid and and whatnot but

0:39:32.720,0:39:35.520
it’s interesting because again it’s not

0:39:34.720,0:39:38.880
just

0:39:35.520,0:39:41.520
um a cooking show there’s you know you

0:39:38.880,0:39:44.000
you hear the story of

0:39:41.520,0:39:46.000
you know the the person that that’s

0:39:44.000,0:39:46.480
preparing this meal and how they prepare

0:39:46.000,0:39:48.880
it and

0:39:46.480,0:39:49.920
you know and and how many generations

0:39:48.880,0:39:52.960
back

0:39:49.920,0:39:54.480
you know this meal has gone and and how

0:39:52.960,0:39:58.400
much it’s meant to them and

0:39:54.480,0:40:01.280
and um you know and and you’re hungry

0:39:58.400,0:40:03.119
once you’re like i want that and you

0:40:01.280,0:40:04.160
know that you can’t get it anyplace here

0:40:03.119,0:40:06.800
so it’s like hmm

0:40:04.160,0:40:08.960
yeah but just so well done and and i’ve

0:40:06.800,0:40:12.319
only seen the one episode so far so

0:40:08.960,0:40:14.720
definitely looking forward to um

0:40:12.319,0:40:15.680
watching it again you know the the other

0:40:14.720,0:40:17.839
episodes

0:40:15.680,0:40:19.520
and and seeing where else the journey

0:40:17.839,0:40:21.440
takes us throughout italy

0:40:19.520,0:40:23.920
nice good pick thank you even though i

0:40:21.440,0:40:26.240
screwed up no problem i’ll forgive you

0:40:23.920,0:40:26.240
thanks

0:40:27.970,0:40:33.599
[Applause]

0:40:29.680,0:40:36.480
so my pick this week is a documentary

0:40:33.599,0:40:38.000
but it’s not a stuffy history or science

0:40:36.480,0:40:41.280
documentary like i usually do

0:40:38.000,0:40:43.119
oh well that’s good this one is a marvel

0:40:41.280,0:40:46.640
documentary

0:40:43.119,0:40:49.760
marvel 616 on disney plus

0:40:46.640,0:40:51.680
marvel 616 explores marvel’s rich legacy

0:40:49.760,0:40:54.800
of pioneering characters

0:40:51.680,0:40:55.359
creators and storytelling to reflect the

0:40:54.800,0:40:58.800
world

0:40:55.359,0:41:02.240
outside your window each documentary

0:40:58.800,0:41:04.400
held by a unique filmmaker showcases the

0:41:02.240,0:41:05.359
intersections of storytelling pop

0:41:04.400,0:41:08.720
culture

0:41:05.359,0:41:10.960
and fandom within the marvel universe

0:41:08.720,0:41:13.200
episodes in this anthology series will

0:41:10.960,0:41:13.760
cover topics including marvel’s world

0:41:13.200,0:41:16.800
spanning

0:41:13.760,0:41:17.680
artists the trailblazing women of marvel

0:41:16.800,0:41:20.160
comics

0:41:17.680,0:41:21.280
discovering the forgotten characters of

0:41:20.160,0:41:25.040
marvel and much

0:41:21.280,0:41:26.960
more i’m about four episodes five

0:41:25.040,0:41:28.560
episodes in right now

0:41:26.960,0:41:30.880
and and it’s interesting because each

0:41:28.560,0:41:33.520
episode is done very different than the

0:41:30.880,0:41:35.440
previous one but it’s

0:41:33.520,0:41:37.680
as with anything marvel there’s a story

0:41:35.440,0:41:39.040
behind it so there’s a there’s a story

0:41:37.680,0:41:41.040
there’s a there’s a premise

0:41:39.040,0:41:42.800
in the beginning and then they take you

0:41:41.040,0:41:43.760
through the story and you have various

0:41:42.800,0:41:46.240
chapters and they

0:41:43.760,0:41:47.040
sum it up at the end there and the one

0:41:46.240,0:41:50.480
that really

0:41:47.040,0:41:52.880
i think the two were that that were

0:41:50.480,0:41:56.240
outstanding so far one

0:41:52.880,0:41:59.359
was the women of marvel

0:41:56.240,0:42:00.240
and and this one went back to even the

0:41:59.359,0:42:03.520
early days

0:42:00.240,0:42:06.560
of female involvement in marvel where

0:42:03.520,0:42:08.319
comic book artists and and producers and

0:42:06.560,0:42:11.280
editors and everybody

0:42:08.319,0:42:11.680
um it was all it was a male environment

0:42:11.280,0:42:13.119
and

0:42:11.680,0:42:16.000
and they talked to some of the very

0:42:13.119,0:42:18.560
early female artists that get involved

0:42:16.000,0:42:19.359
and how they got involved and almost by

0:42:18.560,0:42:22.079
accident

0:42:19.359,0:42:24.079
you know like they this you know one

0:42:22.079,0:42:27.280
particular woman happened to be

0:42:24.079,0:42:30.240
an artistically inclined individual

0:42:27.280,0:42:31.280
got a job working at marvel but not

0:42:30.240,0:42:34.480
doing anything

0:42:31.280,0:42:34.960
almost like a secretarial role and they

0:42:34.480,0:42:37.440
had

0:42:34.960,0:42:38.319
a deadline that had to be met and she

0:42:37.440,0:42:41.760
would

0:42:38.319,0:42:44.480
um in her spare time sort of scribble

0:42:41.760,0:42:46.240
and someone saw how how you know

0:42:44.480,0:42:49.280
talented she was

0:42:46.240,0:42:50.720
and when this deadline came up and they

0:42:49.280,0:42:52.160
didn’t have an artist that could meet

0:42:50.720,0:42:54.640
the deadline

0:42:52.160,0:42:56.720
they handed it off to her and and she

0:42:54.640,0:42:58.880
wound up running with it and that’s sort

0:42:56.720,0:43:01.200
of what started the whole thing

0:42:58.880,0:43:02.880
and they take you all the way up until

0:43:01.200,0:43:06.240
uh modern times where

0:43:02.880,0:43:08.079
you’ve got women playing a major role

0:43:06.240,0:43:10.079
and and they’re playing a major role not

0:43:08.079,0:43:11.760
just with female characters they’re

0:43:10.079,0:43:13.839
playing a major role telling the story

0:43:11.760,0:43:16.079
of a lot of the key male characters that

0:43:13.839,0:43:18.240
are out there now

0:43:16.079,0:43:20.240
but some of the female characters are

0:43:18.240,0:43:23.520
ones that are being held

0:43:20.240,0:43:27.119
by these female artists

0:43:23.520,0:43:29.359
and it with anything with marvel it

0:43:27.119,0:43:31.440
injects that sense of realism that sense

0:43:29.359,0:43:34.400
of perspective in there

0:43:31.440,0:43:36.240
uh which marvel’s always been famous for

0:43:34.400,0:43:38.720
uh another episode

0:43:36.240,0:43:40.000
talked about their international um

0:43:38.720,0:43:41.520
artists from around the world

0:43:40.000,0:43:44.079
and they had they highlighted two

0:43:41.520,0:43:47.920
artists from uh spain

0:43:44.079,0:43:50.319
that were um again

0:43:47.920,0:43:50.960
one was a freelancer and one was someone

0:43:50.319,0:43:54.000
who was

0:43:50.960,0:43:57.040
desperate to break in and it was

0:43:54.000,0:43:59.520
a great lesson in persistence you know

0:43:57.040,0:44:01.280
they they were they took time off from

0:43:59.520,0:44:02.720
their job to dedicate themselves to

0:44:01.280,0:44:05.920
their work

0:44:02.720,0:44:07.440
and after about six months when they

0:44:05.920,0:44:08.800
were just about ready to give up they

0:44:07.440,0:44:10.400
wound up getting their foot in the door

0:44:08.800,0:44:12.640
with the right person

0:44:10.400,0:44:14.160
and now they’re you know they’re doing

0:44:12.640,0:44:16.560
tours of

0:44:14.160,0:44:18.319
comic cons and they’re they’ve got their

0:44:16.560,0:44:22.560
roles so it was

0:44:18.319,0:44:24.160
a very inspiring uh documentary to watch

0:44:22.560,0:44:26.640
and i highly recommend that if you’re

0:44:24.160,0:44:28.880
interested in comics if you want to be a

0:44:26.640,0:44:29.839
a comic book artist i sat down with our

0:44:28.880,0:44:32.720
daughter

0:44:29.839,0:44:35.920
to watch the women of marvel episode and

0:44:32.720,0:44:39.040
i think she took a lot away from that

0:44:35.920,0:44:41.119
for for inspiration i’m i’m very

0:44:39.040,0:44:44.400
interested in watching the rest of the

0:44:41.119,0:44:47.599
episodes in the series as well so

0:44:44.400,0:44:50.870
marvel 616 streaming now
