      • With health and safety procedures like temperature checks, new security systems at the parks, modified Park Hopping, and the introduction of Disney Park Pass, things look quite different than they did at the beginning of 2020. Policies are changing for Disney resort guests as well, as MagicBands are no longer free, and Extra Magic Hours haven’t been available since the parks reopened. Now, there’s yet another change for Disney resort guests — Disney’s Magical Express is coming to an end!
      • Beginning January 1st, 2022, Disney’s Magical Express will no longer be available for transportation to and from the MCO airport. The service will continue to be available throughout 2021 but will end with the start of next year.
      • Complimentary transportation will still be available within the Walt Disney World resort, such as the buses, monorail, and Disney Skyliner. A Disney spokesperson has told AllEars that while the Minnie Van service still does not have a return date currently set, they hope to bring back the option in the future.
      • For those looking to travel between the Orlando International Airport and Disney World in the future, there is some good news — Brightline plans to open a rail station at both Disney Springs and the Orlando International Airport. – Already planned for a South FL to Orlando route is in the works
      • A Disney spokesperson had the following to say about the end of Magical Express in a statement: “As consumer needs and preferences change, we will no longer offer Disney’s Magical Express service starting with arrivals in 2022. At the same time, we’re also introducing new ways for guests to enjoy their visits, including early theme park entry for Disney Resort hotel guests.”

      • Disneyland is ending its annual pass program 10 months after the theme park shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic, the theme park said Thursday.
      • The park in Anaheim, California, said it would begin issuing pro-rated refunds to eligible passholders.
      • “Due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and limitations around the reopening of our California theme parks, we will be issuing appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort Annual Passports and sunsetting the current program,” Ken Potrock, president of Disneyland Resort, said in a statement. He said the park will develop new membership offerings for when it can reopen.
      • Disney officials would not say how many people hold these passes or how much the move will cost the company.
      • The announcement comes the same week that Disneyland allowed county health officials to use its parking lot for a large-scale coronavirus vaccination site.
      • Disneyland closed in March and has not reopened since because coronavirus metrics in the county where the park is located have not declined to the levels required by the state.
      • California health officials have said large amusement parks like Disneyland can only reopen once transmission reaches minimal levels, and then park capacity will be limited to 25% and reservations required.
      • California has seen a surge in coronavirus cases in recent months that has prompted a shutdown of many businesses and nighttime curfews in much of the state.

      • Hardcore Star Wars fans know that one of the best Star Wars stories ever told didn’t happen on screen, it happened in the Star Wars novels. Now we’ve learned that story is finally coming to the screen. Lucasfilm is working towards adapting Heir to the Empire.
      • We’ve been informed by our exclusive insider source that The Mandalorian and many of the upcoming Star Wars shows are headed towards a big crossover event. That crossover event will culminate in an adaptation of the book Heir to the Empire.
      • Heir to the Empire was the first novel in author Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn Trilogy. Originally published in 1991 the book tells the story of the New Republic trying to hang on to control of the galaxy after defeating the Empire at the Battle of Endor. It involves the Imperial Remnant reforming under the leadership of a brilliant Grand Admiral named Thrawn. If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because Grand Admiral Thrawn was teased in Mandalorian season 2. He’s the big bad Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano is on the hunt for.
      • The dropping of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s name wasn’t just a one off, it was a road map to the future of the franchise. Our source tell us that’s where The Mandalorian and upcoming spinoff shows like Star Wars: Ahsoka Tano are headed.  They’re actually making Heir to the Empire, at last. 
      • Our source is a proven insider with a track record of breaking stories like this. This source has, however, asked that we maintain anonymity. 
      • Keep in mind that this is probably a long way off. The crossover will involve shows like Star Wars: Ahsoka Tano and Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic. Neither of those shows have even started filming yet. But our source insists that Disney has a road map for where it’s all headed and where it’s headed is Heir to the Empire.
      • This means Disney will definitely have to move forward with the recently rumored plans to recast iconic characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa. All three figure heavily into the events of the Thrawn trilogy.  It will likely also mean even more work for Donald Glover playing Lando Calrissian, since he’s a critical component as well. It could even mean that Glover’s announced Lando series will also be a critical part of the Heir to the Empire crossover event along with The Mandalorian, Rangers of the New Republic, and Ahsoka Tano.
      • Lucasfilm has learned a lot from watching Marvel and one of the big key’s to Marvel’s road map is that they had a plan from the beginning. Heir to the Empire is Star Wars’ first Avengers movie.

      • Ubisoft announced today that it will be working on an open-world game set in the Star Wars universe. Ubisoft Massive, developers of the Division, will head up the new Star Wars project. Subsequently, Division 2 Director Julian Gerighty is set to helm the project. There have yet to be announcements whether the game will be single-player or multiplayer. Fortunately for Star Wars fans around the world, Ubisoft know their way around open-world games.
      • The new Star Wars project came to light following Lucasfilm Games entering a partnership with Ubisoft and Bethesda. This marks the first time a company outside of EA produced a Star Wars game since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. EA famously produced Star Wars games for nearly eight years. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot shared a little insight about the upcoming Star Wars title and what it can offer to fans.
      • Development is still in the very early stages but it’s a good sign for fans of the Star Wars franchise. Hopefully, this announced project doesn’t join the long list of cancelled Star Wars games. Ubisoft and Lucasfilm both promise to share more details with its fans and potential players when there is more to announce. Finally, Lucasfilm stated that all Star Wars games would continue to be treated as canon alongside any film, TV, book, and comic releases. The new game’s announcement follows the conclusion of the franchise’s third trilogy in December 2019.

    • Chris Evans Sends Fans in a Frenzy After ‘Captain America’ Star Is Reportedly Reprising Role

      • Chris Evans is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Captain America in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe film, and the news has sent fans into a frenzy. According to Deadline, there is no official confirmation that a deal had been finalized, but sources advised the outlet that Evans and Marvel have been discussing it and that he is open to returning. Deadline noted that it reached out to Marvel about the rumors, and the company “had no comment.”
      • Evans made it clear in past years that he was not picking the shield back up after Avengers: Endgame, and even passed the mantle to Anthony Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, at the end of the film. Wilson is often better known by his superhero name, Falcon. While the move was shocking for many fans, this passing of the torch was actually not unprecedented for the two characters, as years prior Wilson had become Captain America in Marvel Comics continuity.
      • There has been a lot of speculation as to how Evans could return, though with time-travel and multi-verse storylines having been introduced in recent MCU films, it seems the possibilities could be endless for new adventures of Evans as Steve Rogers. Perhaps fans will get to see more WWII-era missions carried out by Cap and the Howling Commandos, or maybe Evans will portray an alternate-dimension version of Rogers. Fans have been taking to social media to speculate on all the possibilities, but mostly they are just so excited to get more for Evans as Captain America.     • Negan and Maggie Meet Again in New Look at The Walking Dead Extended Season 10

Carol (Melissa McBride) commuted the reformed villain’s life sentence when she set him free to infiltrate the Whisperers and assassinate Alpha (Samantha Morton), making Negan instrumental in ending the Whisperer War brought to a bloody finish in October’s “A Certain Doom.”
      • Negan and Maggie cross paths in the extended season 10 premiere, “Home Sweet Home,” which you can see in a new first-look photo from the episode airing February 28:
      • “You’re out,” Maggie tells Negan in a virtual table read clip released in October. No longer the withered prisoner Maggie left to rot years earlier, Negan tells her, “I didn’t escape, if that’s what you’re thinking.”
      • Carol confesses to Maggie about letting Negan out of jail, explaining that “we were going to lose everything. Negan is the reason we didn’t.” Daryl adds that “nothing’s decided” with Negan, prompting Carol to point out Maggie is “never gonna come around on him.”
      • When Daryl asks if Carol has come around on the group’s former enemy, she shrugs. “It’s good to see her,” Carol says, not regretting her decision to orchestrate Alpha’s death and avenge slain son Henry (Matt Lintz).
      • “Look, Negan killed Maggie’s husband and burnt down her house, so it’s just not going to be an easy road, I think, for either of them,” showrunner Angela Kang said during a virtual Comic-Con panel over the summer. “And Negan’s been on this whole other journey while she’s been gone, but it’s sort of like Maggie is coming in and she hasn’t seen any of that.”
      • Because Maggie and son Hershel spent years away from Virginia as part of the new community where they found masked warrior Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari), it’s a surprise to learn Negan avenged Maggie’s friends murdered by the Whisperers. After one of Alpha’s skin-wearing weirdos cut down interim Hilltop leader Jesus (Tom Payne), Alpha decapitated Tara (Alanna Masterson) and Maggie’s protege, Enid (Katelyn Nacon), and spiked their heads at a border marking Whisperer territory.
      • “It’ll be interesting to see if anybody kind of tells Maggie what Negan’s been up to, or if they just put it on Negan to kind of start from scratch with this,” Morgan said at virtual New York Comic Con in October. “I think that’s an Angela and Scott [Gimple, executive producer] thing.”
