After a long holiday we’re back with another great podcast. This week in our Disney Detective we give our thoughts on the recently release Disney Pixar’s Soul and how poignant it is in today’s world. Then we’ll talk about yet another magical experience a Disneyworld going away in a sad finale to a fun game many people enjoyed.
In our Tales from the Edge of the Galaxy we’ll talk about the season finale of the Mandalorian, the impact it has on the Star Wars Universe and what we can expect in the very near future from that Galaxy Far Far Away that we all love. We’ll also talk about a little mutual love and admiration from two of the biggest stars from that episode and how nice it is to see Star Wars back on the right track again.
Wonder Woman 1984 is the subject for discussion in our Entertainment News this week. We give our thoughts, reviews, insights and concerns about this latest installment of one of our favorite super heroes. We’ll also talk Oscars and what the eligibility status of the Hamilton movie is for the coming awards season before we wrap up with our Insightful Picks of the Week.

- According to a cast member we spoke with at the Firehouse inside Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom will be coming to an end on January 24, 2021.
- Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is essentially a scavenger hunt where participating guests could search for 20 Magic Portals throughout the park and “battle” with Disney Villains such as Cruella, Scar, Jafar, Maleficent, Ursula, Yzma, Ratcliffe and Dr. Facilier.
- We hope that Disney plans on adding this game virtually to the Play Disney Parks app, but there has been no announcement of that as of now. We’ll be sure to keep you posted if we hear anything!

- The Mandalorian: Mark Hamill left speechless by Ming-Na Wen comments
- https://bamsmackpow.com/2021/01/04/the-mandalorian-star-wars-mark-hamill-left-speechless-ming-na-wen-praise/
- http://bit.ly/2JXLOIO
- Star Wars legend Mark Hamill has been left speechless by the praise he received from his The Mandalorian co-star Ming-Na Wen. Contains spoilers from The Mandalorian season 2.
- Mark Hamill is a Star Wars legend. The actor, whose other most famous role was his legendary voice performance as The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series (and various DC media afterwards), has portrayed Luke Skywalker since the first film, A New Hope, back in 1977. He recently shocked us all when he appeared in Disney Plus‘ The Mandalorian season 2 finale.
- Hamill reprised his role as Luke Skywalker, appearing with the help of some CGI to de-age the character and make him look younger when he made the surprise appearance in the finale episode. The cameo was understandably a major hit with fans of the show (and the wider franchise) and Hamill himself tweeted out his excitement about the appearance.
- Hamill’s tweet garnered the attention of Ming-Na Wen – who portrays Fennec Shand on the show – as she retweeted Hamill’s comments, adding that his portrayal of Luke was “immensely inspirational and impactful to [her] childhood & as an adult” and that sharing a scene with him was “truly one of the biggest highlight” of not just in her career but in her life.
- Upon seeing the tweet, Hamill responded with nothing but praise for his co-star, adding that the “pleasure was all [his]” and that he was “literally speechless” by her praise-filled tweet. Check out his tweet below:

- Ming-Na Wen responded with heart emojis before sending a retweet reply, commenting that she had reached “nerd nirvana”, adding that it was “way cooler” than the time Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler spilled red wine on her arm and “wiped it off with cocktail napkins”.
- It’s nice to see such appreciation between two absolute acting legends!

- Hamilton Is Not Eligible for Oscars Confirmed
- https://screenrant.com/hamilton-movie-oscars-awards-eligibility-confirmed/?fbclid=IwAR2TRkD-hFoyub7scH7PRYiklwjThaUbzfov_jM_liiSPOZL0hGh_01DB_M
- http://bit.ly/3bo4e0B
- It’s official: Disney+’s Hamilton won’t be eligible for Oscars, despite potentially being up for other awards. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical sensation has dominated Broadway ever since it premiered in 2015, but in a year when live theater was virtually non-existent, audiences got the opportunity to see it in their own homes. Disney originally planned to release a filmed version of Hamilton in theaters sometime in the fall of 2021. However, when the coronavirus pandemic proved to be a major complication for 2020 entertainment, Disney changed course and released Hamilton on Disney+. What followed was an extremely well received debut that saw an uptick in subscribers for the service and glowing critical praise.
- That praise has led many to wonder if it will translate to awards gold. The stage production of Hamilton won 11 Tonys after being nominated for a record 16, so it stands to reason that the filmed version – which features the original Broadway cast – will get some awards attention as well. However, its position as a filmed stage production has called its eligibility into question. While Hamilton has been approved by the Golden Globes, there was uncertainty about the Oscars, which opened up their rules to include streaming films amid the pandemic.
- Now it’s completely certain: Hamilton won’t be nominated for any Oscars. THR delved into this issue as awards season ramps up and spoke directly with the Academy. While it’s noted that past Oscar ceremonies have recognized other projects that are essentially filmed plays, Hamilton will not be one of them. There’s no rule that specifically prevents Hamilton from entering awards contention, but the Academy’s Awards Rule Committee met to discuss and ultimately disqualify it, citing a rule that says, “The Awards Rules Committee will evaluate all matters of rules and eligibility.”
- While Hamilton won’t get Oscar gold, it could still nab some Golden Globes or SAG awards. In the former, Hamilton will compete in the various comedy or musical categories, and with the latter, the musical is being treated as a TV movie. Most cast members will compete against each other for the SAGs regardless of the size of their roles, as those do not separate between lead and supporting, only gender.
- Based on the extremely positive response Hamilton has earned, it wouldn’t be surprising if it manages to nab a few nominations, particularly when it comes to the Golden Globes. Musicals play well with them, and aside from perhaps The Prom, 2020 was lacking spectacles in that vein. Hamilton also has its previous awards track record to help it along, though Tonys might not necessarily lead directly to Golden Globes and SAGs. Still, Hamilton could have a presence within this awards season, though it won’t make it to the Oscars.

how are you doing today dear i’m doing
0:01:09.360,0:01:12.960
okay how are you
0:01:10.560,0:01:15.280
i’m doing all right we had quite the
0:01:12.960,0:01:16.640
hiatus from podcasting for the last few
0:01:15.280,0:01:20.479
weeks we sure did
0:01:16.640,0:01:22.000
uh did a lot of work in here yep
0:01:20.479,0:01:23.520
ripped everything out and put it all
0:01:22.000,0:01:26.240
back in
0:01:23.520,0:01:26.640
and everything seems to be working which
0:01:26.240,0:01:28.640
is
0:01:26.640,0:01:30.479
fingers crossed and knocking on wood you
0:01:28.640,0:01:32.960
know we did some work
0:01:30.479,0:01:34.439
you know in the around the house as well
0:01:32.960,0:01:38.079
you know a couple of
0:01:34.439,0:01:41.040
remodelingy redecorating
0:01:38.079,0:01:41.520
you know things and still a little work
0:01:41.040,0:01:44.479
to
0:01:41.520,0:01:45.360
to do but very very productive use of
0:01:44.479,0:01:48.960
our downtime
0:01:45.360,0:01:49.840
yes absolutely uh so we are back after
0:01:48.960,0:01:52.320
the first of the
0:01:49.840,0:01:54.159
uh year now and the in the new year
0:01:52.320,0:01:57.600
thankfully 2020 is behind
0:01:54.159,0:01:59.920
us thank goodness um this
0:01:57.600,0:02:02.479
actually our third season will will kick
0:01:59.920,0:02:04.560
off in february i believe that’s our
0:02:02.479,0:02:05.600
that’s our official season break but
0:02:04.560,0:02:07.119
right uh
0:02:05.600,0:02:09.280
moving forward here we’re keeping the
0:02:07.119,0:02:13.040
same format and uh
0:02:09.280,0:02:14.400
we got new headsets new mics new uh
0:02:13.040,0:02:16.720
positionings for the mics we’ve
0:02:14.400,0:02:18.959
rearranged the studio a bit here
0:02:16.720,0:02:22.000
we have our monitors up on swing arms
0:02:18.959,0:02:24.160
now so it looks a little nicer
0:02:22.000,0:02:25.280
makes it easier when the studio
0:02:24.160,0:02:29.440
transforms into
0:02:25.280,0:02:31.840
my office yeah yeah we also replace
0:02:29.440,0:02:33.920
the computer that does all all the heavy
0:02:31.840,0:02:35.680
lifting for us here
0:02:33.920,0:02:37.360
much more robust system there so
0:02:35.680,0:02:40.400
hopefully a lot of the glitches
0:02:37.360,0:02:42.239
and screen issues and sound issues that
0:02:40.400,0:02:45.519
we were experiencing uh
0:02:42.239,0:02:47.200
before the new year has uh we’ve managed
0:02:45.519,0:02:50.160
to arrest all those and
0:02:47.200,0:02:50.560
we’re good to go moving forward so this
0:02:50.160,0:02:52.400
week
0:02:50.560,0:02:53.760
we do have we’re kind of easing into
0:02:52.400,0:02:54.800
things right there was a lot of stuff
0:02:53.760,0:02:56.560
that went on
0:02:54.800,0:02:59.040
uh we’re not going to play catch up on
0:02:56.560,0:03:01.120
on any of that entertainment news
0:02:59.040,0:03:03.280
um so we’re we are going to take a look
0:03:01.120,0:03:05.440
at a couple of different things here
0:03:03.280,0:03:06.319
uh in our disney detective we’re going
0:03:05.440,0:03:08.959
to take a look
0:03:06.319,0:03:11.360
at our thoughts on seoul the movie pixar
0:03:08.959,0:03:14.480
movie that came out we watched that
0:03:11.360,0:03:17.840
we have uh yet one more thing
0:03:14.480,0:03:21.599
that we’re losing and in is this disney
0:03:17.840,0:03:23.280
world and disneyland just disney world
0:03:21.599,0:03:25.360
we’re losing a little bit more magic
0:03:23.280,0:03:28.640
from disney world which is kind of sad
0:03:25.360,0:03:33.840
yeah then we’ll move on to our disney
0:03:28.640,0:03:33.840
detective where we will give
0:03:38.879,0:03:42.239
and this is my fault i didn’t give you
0:03:40.400,0:03:44.000
your little notes that i normally
0:03:42.239,0:03:45.440
yeah you usually give me a summary here
0:03:44.000,0:03:48.239
so yeah
0:03:45.440,0:03:50.400
so it’s all my fault so so in our towson
0:03:48.239,0:03:53.840
the edge of the galaxy we will recap
0:03:50.400,0:03:55.920
the mandalorian finale right which was
0:03:53.840,0:03:58.799
fantastic
0:03:55.920,0:03:59.360
and in relation to that a little bit of
0:03:58.799,0:04:01.519
a
0:03:59.360,0:04:03.439
mandalorian news from between a little
0:04:01.519,0:04:05.599
bit of love going back and forth but
0:04:03.439,0:04:07.519
yeah and well deserved too yeah
0:04:05.599,0:04:10.239
absolutely well deserved
0:04:07.519,0:04:14.159
uh then in our entertainment news we
0:04:10.239,0:04:16.400
will talk about wonder woman 84.
0:04:14.159,0:04:18.880
then we’ll talk about hamilton and their
0:04:16.400,0:04:20.400
eligibility for rewards before we finish
0:04:18.880,0:04:23.520
up with our insightful picks
0:04:20.400,0:04:24.240

0:04:23.520,0:04:26.080
that stuff

0:05:53.120,0:05:57.039
you know this week
0:05:54.160,0:05:58.400
again lots of stories came out with
0:05:57.039,0:05:59.520
different things that were going on in
0:05:58.400,0:06:03.039
the parks and
0:05:59.520,0:06:05.919
and whatnot um so we you know i
0:06:03.039,0:06:06.319
i figured we’d kind of change it up um
0:06:05.919,0:06:09.199
so
0:06:06.319,0:06:10.160
first we can talk about um one of the
0:06:09.199,0:06:12.880
things that
0:06:10.160,0:06:13.360
that just came out that’ll be going away
0:06:12.880,0:06:16.560
at
0:06:13.360,0:06:18.639
uh the magic kingdom and that is the
0:06:16.560,0:06:19.680
little scavenger hunt game we’re not
0:06:18.639,0:06:21.120
gonna talk about seoul
0:06:19.680,0:06:22.720
you want to talk about seoul first well
0:06:21.120,0:06:24.560
that’s the first and last okay
0:06:22.720,0:06:26.319
i’m sorry throwing me off script well
0:06:24.560,0:06:29.919
because you like
0:06:26.319,0:06:34.000
whatever so let’s talk about seoul
0:06:29.919,0:06:36.400
um so seoul was um the pixar movie
0:06:34.000,0:06:37.600
that was supposed to be released into
0:06:36.400,0:06:41.280
the theaters
0:06:37.600,0:06:43.360
for uh 2021 and obviously with
0:06:41.280,0:06:45.680
everything going on with the pandemic
0:06:43.360,0:06:48.880
that was one of the movies that
0:06:45.680,0:06:51.039
disney had decided that on christmas
0:06:48.880,0:06:53.039
they were going to release it on disney
0:06:51.039,0:06:56.080
plus it wasn’t going to be
0:06:53.039,0:06:56.800
a premium subscription needed like it
0:06:56.080,0:06:59.360
was with
0:06:56.800,0:07:00.560
uh mulan so it was available on
0:06:59.360,0:07:03.199
christmas we didn’t
0:07:00.560,0:07:04.720
watch it actually until last week we
0:07:03.199,0:07:05.599
kind of took our time because we were
0:07:04.720,0:07:08.560
doing
0:07:05.599,0:07:09.440
other things we weren’t in a big rush we
0:07:08.560,0:07:11.199
kind of did it
0:07:09.440,0:07:13.440
actually during the middle of the week
0:07:11.199,0:07:16.479
which we normally don’t
0:07:13.440,0:07:18.720
watch movies together as a family you
0:07:16.479,0:07:20.160
know during the week but it was
0:07:18.720,0:07:21.840
we were kind of having a little bit of a
0:07:20.160,0:07:25.199
rough week and we decided you know
0:07:21.840,0:07:28.240
let’s let’s watch this and and hope it’s
0:07:25.199,0:07:31.039
it’s a good movie and we
0:07:28.240,0:07:32.400
we all enjoyed it uh it was very
0:07:31.039,0:07:34.639
enjoyable
0:07:32.400,0:07:36.319
probably not so it’s funny because when
0:07:34.639,0:07:38.080
i had um
0:07:36.319,0:07:40.080
posted on facebook that we had watched
0:07:38.080,0:07:43.199
it a friend of mine from high school
0:07:40.080,0:07:44.800
had asked um if she
0:07:43.199,0:07:47.039
if we thought her three-year-old
0:07:44.800,0:07:48.639
daughter would have liked it
0:07:47.039,0:07:51.360
and i said she probably wouldn’t have
0:07:48.639,0:07:54.800
understood
0:07:51.360,0:07:56.639
a lot of the the plot but she probably
0:07:54.800,0:07:58.400
would have enjoyed the music
0:07:56.639,0:08:00.319
uh definitely would have enjoyed the one
0:07:58.400,0:08:02.800
character the cat yeah
0:08:00.319,0:08:04.639
um you know so it’s definitely in terms
0:08:02.800,0:08:06.560
of you know the pixar movies it’s
0:08:04.639,0:08:09.680
definitely a much more
0:08:06.560,0:08:10.400
mature yeah uh movie you know so like
0:08:09.680,0:08:12.400
you’re teaching
0:08:10.400,0:08:13.599
kind of a more refined plot than you
0:08:12.400,0:08:15.840
normally yeah
0:08:13.599,0:08:17.599
yeah the simplistic black and white
0:08:15.840,0:08:20.560
right i i definitely think it was
0:08:17.599,0:08:20.879
more you know your teenage absolutely
0:08:20.560,0:08:24.240
and
0:08:20.879,0:08:27.039
and above and and definitely more adulty
0:08:24.240,0:08:28.879
yeah than um and what i thought was
0:08:27.039,0:08:32.399
interesting about it was given
0:08:28.879,0:08:35.680
the circumstances of 2020 it had
0:08:32.399,0:08:37.279
a very poignant meaning yes and a very
0:08:35.680,0:08:39.120
poignant focus
0:08:37.279,0:08:40.800
to appreciate the things that you do
0:08:39.120,0:08:42.959
have by the end of the day yes
0:08:40.800,0:08:44.080
and yeah you know and and that was
0:08:42.959,0:08:46.640
definitely the
0:08:44.080,0:08:47.839
the big focus of it and i think also the
0:08:46.640,0:08:50.880
fact that
0:08:47.839,0:08:54.000
um you know an another
0:08:50.880,0:08:57.519
theme to it was you know don’t
0:08:54.000,0:08:58.720
try to go for that big thing enjoy the
0:08:57.519,0:09:01.200
little things
0:08:58.720,0:09:02.160
right don’t don’t miss out on the little
0:09:01.200,0:09:04.480
things that
0:09:02.160,0:09:05.600
right that really are what make life
0:09:04.480,0:09:08.800
right exactly
0:09:05.600,0:09:10.800
don’t you know if if that big thing
0:09:08.800,0:09:12.640
you know and and you know the big thing
0:09:10.800,0:09:13.200
happens you might be disappointed
0:09:12.640,0:09:16.480
because
0:09:13.200,0:09:19.440
it wasn’t everything you wanted it to be
0:09:16.480,0:09:20.880
so you should really enjoy the method
0:09:19.440,0:09:23.600
was really kind of
0:09:20.880,0:09:24.000
you know life is a sum of all the parts
0:09:23.600,0:09:26.480
not
0:09:24.000,0:09:28.000
one particular aspect right right and
0:09:26.480,0:09:28.959
there’s so many things on a day-to-day
0:09:28.000,0:09:31.920
basis that we
0:09:28.959,0:09:32.959
we probably tend to overlook yeah and
0:09:31.920,0:09:36.000
this was a nice
0:09:32.959,0:09:38.640
little nudge to to kind of
0:09:36.000,0:09:40.000
focus on everything that happens you
0:09:38.640,0:09:42.080
know
0:09:40.000,0:09:43.440
maddie and i did our podcast this
0:09:42.080,0:09:45.200
morning and
0:09:43.440,0:09:47.760
and a lot of it was you know we had
0:09:45.200,0:09:49.600
talked about christmas and presents
0:09:47.760,0:09:51.600
right and she had made the comment of
0:09:49.600,0:09:53.519
well i didn’t get a lot of big presents
0:09:51.600,0:09:55.200
i got a lot of little presents but a lot
0:09:53.519,0:09:57.279
of those little presents mean a lot to
0:09:55.200,0:09:58.320
me right like she was more excited about
0:09:57.279,0:10:01.519
the little
0:09:58.320,0:10:04.160
magic 8-ball yeah than you know
0:10:01.519,0:10:05.920
than the robot you know the the little
0:10:04.160,0:10:08.959
you know couple of dollar
0:10:05.920,0:10:12.800
trinkety thing and it almost
0:10:08.959,0:10:15.120
reminds me of the year the little
0:10:12.800,0:10:17.120
two dollar aquarium that i had gotten
0:10:15.120,0:10:19.279
her which was this little tiny thing you
0:10:17.120,0:10:22.560
put water in and the little fish
0:10:19.279,0:10:24.800
expand and that for
0:10:22.560,0:10:26.800
for like a year was like her favorite
0:10:24.800,0:10:27.440
toy and it didn’t do anything it was
0:10:26.800,0:10:30.320
just
0:10:27.440,0:10:32.160
you know and and it and i think you know
0:10:30.320,0:10:34.800
listening to you guys doing the podcast
0:10:32.160,0:10:36.320
and her you know mentioning the magic
0:10:34.800,0:10:38.240
eight ball as being like
0:10:36.320,0:10:39.440
like that’s a highlight that was the
0:10:38.240,0:10:41.040
highlight and
0:10:39.440,0:10:43.839
and you know what i’ll be honest with
0:10:41.040,0:10:47.279
you for me it it left me with
0:10:43.839,0:10:49.600
a lot of pride known that she
0:10:47.279,0:10:51.680
appreciates the little things not just
0:10:49.600,0:10:52.640
as far as presents but right the little
0:10:51.680,0:10:54.959
things in life
0:10:52.640,0:10:56.399
right you know the quality family time
0:10:54.959,0:10:58.320
we have together the
0:10:56.399,0:11:00.079
movie time that you and her have when
0:10:58.320,0:11:02.560
you sit down and watch tv
0:11:00.079,0:11:05.040
like she gets up she got she was upset
0:11:02.560,0:11:06.880
because i was late the one night because
0:11:05.040,0:11:08.560
we were watching some we started
0:11:06.880,0:11:11.839
watching something later than
0:11:08.560,0:11:14.880
our normal whatever and i wasn’t ready
0:11:11.839,0:11:16.000
right at eight o’clock and she she was
0:11:14.880,0:11:17.600
kind of well and even like
0:11:16.000,0:11:18.720
we had stopped doing the podcast for a
0:11:17.600,0:11:19.440
couple weeks because we had everything
0:11:18.720,0:11:21.279
ripped apart
0:11:19.440,0:11:23.600
right and she missed having those
0:11:21.279,0:11:25.279
discussions yeah so
0:11:23.600,0:11:27.040
and and that’s really what the message
0:11:25.279,0:11:30.160
of the movie is appreciate
0:11:27.040,0:11:32.800
those things because especially
0:11:30.160,0:11:34.000
nowadays you know those things can be
0:11:32.800,0:11:36.880
taken away from you
0:11:34.000,0:11:37.200
when you least expect exactly so you
0:11:36.880,0:11:38.720
know
0:11:37.200,0:11:40.480
i i’ve i’ve heard a lot of people
0:11:38.720,0:11:44.079
criticize the movie uh
0:11:40.480,0:11:45.600
i heard one person um who really didn’t
0:11:44.079,0:11:49.360
like the movie describe it
0:11:45.600,0:11:52.959
as listening to that snowman from frozen
0:11:49.360,0:11:53.920
for the entire movie um and it wasn’t
0:11:52.959,0:11:56.320
that bad yeah
0:11:53.920,0:11:57.440
i don’t they were slow parts there were
0:11:56.320,0:12:00.079
there were some
0:11:57.440,0:12:02.079
i don’t know predictable parts to it but
0:12:00.079,0:12:04.560
i think overall it was
0:12:02.079,0:12:05.279
it was what we needed when we got it
0:12:04.560,0:12:08.000
yeah so
0:12:05.279,0:12:09.519
it was very good timing yeah yeah so i
0:12:08.000,0:12:10.160
would highly recommend it if you haven’t
0:12:09.519,0:12:13.839
watched it
0:12:10.160,0:12:15.200
yeah so now we can talk about something
0:12:13.839,0:12:18.480
that disney’s taking away
0:12:15.200,0:12:21.839
sure so news just came out uh
0:12:18.480,0:12:25.040
the this week um that
0:12:21.839,0:12:28.240
another disney magic
0:12:25.040,0:12:31.519
opportunity is going to be going away
0:12:28.240,0:12:34.639
um so according to a cast member who
0:12:31.519,0:12:38.720
um a couple of people had spoken with
0:12:34.639,0:12:40.480
um that is loc located at the firehouse
0:12:38.720,0:12:41.760
which is inside the magic kingdom at
0:12:40.480,0:12:44.560
walt disney world
0:12:41.760,0:12:46.320
uh they had mentioned that the sorcerers
0:12:44.560,0:12:48.880
of the magic kingdom game
0:12:46.320,0:12:50.240
would be coming to an end on january
0:12:48.880,0:12:52.320
24th
0:12:50.240,0:12:54.399
um so sorcerers of the magic kingdom is
0:12:52.320,0:12:56.880
essentially a scavenger hunt game
0:12:54.399,0:12:58.800
where participating guests could search
0:12:56.880,0:13:01.200
for 20 magic portals
0:12:58.800,0:13:02.480
throughout the park and then battle with
0:13:01.200,0:13:05.600
disney villains
0:13:02.480,0:13:08.959
such as cruella scar jafar
0:13:05.600,0:13:12.320
maleficent ursula uh radcliffe
0:13:08.959,0:13:14.959
and dr facilier no news
0:13:12.320,0:13:16.079
as to if something is going to be
0:13:14.959,0:13:19.680
replacing it
0:13:16.079,0:13:22.959
or not um obviously they’ve been
0:13:19.680,0:13:26.079
trying to kind of push people
0:13:22.959,0:13:28.160
uh to the disney park app and then
0:13:26.079,0:13:30.000
there’s even a disney play app
0:13:28.160,0:13:31.600
where while you’re waiting in line you
0:13:30.000,0:13:35.600
can play
0:13:31.600,0:13:38.000
uh different games and and whatnot um
0:13:35.600,0:13:40.240
so this is you know kind of sad to see
0:13:38.000,0:13:43.040
it go it’s been around i
0:13:40.240,0:13:44.800
i can’t even remember for for how long
0:13:43.040,0:13:46.079
but what was nice about it was one it
0:13:44.800,0:13:49.120
was free
0:13:46.079,0:13:51.600
and not a lot of stuff in disney is
0:13:49.120,0:13:52.399
is free um it’s also kind of one of
0:13:51.600,0:13:54.720
those
0:13:52.399,0:13:55.600
hidden gems not that many people knew
0:13:54.720,0:13:57.920
about it
0:13:55.600,0:14:00.240
they or a lot of people knew about it
0:13:57.920,0:14:04.079
but they didn’t
0:14:00.240,0:14:04.399
over um advertise i guess that they had
0:14:04.079,0:14:06.720
it
0:14:04.399,0:14:09.360
so when you would first go into the park
0:14:06.720,0:14:12.399
uh they’d have the the firehouse
0:14:09.360,0:14:14.800
where they’d have like a little sign and
0:14:12.399,0:14:17.199
every day a new pack of cards would come
0:14:14.800,0:14:19.519
out so anybody that was local
0:14:17.199,0:14:20.320
they were going in and getting cards all
0:14:19.519,0:14:22.399
the time
0:14:20.320,0:14:24.959
uh the other thing that was nice was
0:14:22.399,0:14:26.320
when they would have special events
0:14:24.959,0:14:28.560
so when they would have the christmas
0:14:26.320,0:14:31.040
party or uh
0:14:28.560,0:14:33.279
the halloween party there would be a
0:14:31.040,0:14:35.120
special set of cards that came out
0:14:33.279,0:14:37.120
that you could only get if you were
0:14:35.120,0:14:40.079
going to those parties so that was a
0:14:37.120,0:14:40.800
kind of a neat thing um and when you
0:14:40.079,0:14:43.839
would get these
0:14:40.800,0:14:45.440
cards that was part of um when you would
0:14:43.839,0:14:46.560
go and play again it was a scavenger
0:14:45.440,0:14:48.639
hunt so there were different
0:14:46.560,0:14:50.240
parts of the park uh that had these
0:14:48.639,0:14:51.199
little portals and you’d have to hold up
0:14:50.240,0:14:52.959
the card
0:14:51.199,0:14:54.720
and there was some sort of technology
0:14:52.959,0:14:55.680
between what you were playing in the
0:14:54.720,0:14:58.880
card to
0:14:55.680,0:15:01.360
determine whether or not you beat uh the
0:14:58.880,0:15:02.880
the villain or not and then if you did
0:15:01.360,0:15:03.279
it would tell you okay now you have to
0:15:02.880,0:15:05.120
go to
0:15:03.279,0:15:06.880
this part of the park so it was a nice
0:15:05.120,0:15:09.839
little add-on
0:15:06.880,0:15:11.440
for people that had probably you know if
0:15:09.839,0:15:13.040
you were again a local
0:15:11.440,0:15:14.720
or if you were somebody that had gone to
0:15:13.040,0:15:17.440
the park many times
0:15:14.720,0:15:18.320
um so i think that was maybe the thing
0:15:17.440,0:15:20.560
you know for the
0:15:18.320,0:15:22.399
person that only goes like once in a
0:15:20.560,0:15:25.199
lifetime you probably
0:15:22.399,0:15:26.880
you know weren’t gonna play um they used
0:15:25.199,0:15:28.800
to have something
0:15:26.880,0:15:30.639
in epcot that was kind of the same thing
0:15:28.800,0:15:34.160
they had a kim possible
0:15:30.639,0:15:37.360
uh scavenger hunt where you needed to
0:15:34.160,0:15:39.440
borrow their equipment uh in order to
0:15:37.360,0:15:41.440
to play and they had phased that out a
0:15:39.440,0:15:43.360
couple of years back
0:15:41.440,0:15:45.600
so again it’ll be interesting to see if
0:15:43.360,0:15:48.800
they kind of bring something back
0:15:45.600,0:15:51.040
into play you know instead of that
0:15:48.800,0:15:52.079
where you’re using your own phone and
0:15:51.040,0:15:54.399
you don’t have to
0:15:52.079,0:15:55.759
you know get a card or something from
0:15:54.399,0:15:57.759
from them so
0:15:55.759,0:15:58.959
we’ll see so what was the reasoning they
0:15:57.759,0:16:01.680
gave for this there
0:15:58.959,0:16:02.240
there was no because i can’t imagine
0:16:01.680,0:16:05.120
that
0:16:02.240,0:16:06.000
it has anything to do with health issues
0:16:05.120,0:16:08.560
with kovid
0:16:06.000,0:16:10.399
right there can’t like you know you
0:16:08.560,0:16:11.680
might have a couple of staff dedicated
0:16:10.399,0:16:13.199
the manning
0:16:11.680,0:16:14.720
the place where you pick up the car
0:16:13.199,0:16:16.399
right because other than that
0:16:14.720,0:16:18.720
overhead associated right you figure
0:16:16.399,0:16:20.720
there’s usually one or two cast members
0:16:18.720,0:16:23.839
in there you know maybe just the cost of
0:16:20.720,0:16:25.440
printing out the cards or maybe the fact
0:16:23.839,0:16:28.240
that they’re printing out the cards they
0:16:25.440,0:16:31.519
have to hand out a card maybe
0:16:28.240,0:16:33.920
you know that’s the covid yeah okay
0:16:31.519,0:16:35.199
i could i could see that maybe i don’t
0:16:33.920,0:16:36.959
know you know
0:16:35.199,0:16:38.480
real all the articles you know there
0:16:36.959,0:16:40.240
were a couple of different and they were
0:16:38.480,0:16:42.399
all from fan based
0:16:40.240,0:16:44.560
um see we were talking about websites
0:16:42.399,0:16:47.600
and this kind of strikes me as sort of
0:16:44.560,0:16:49.040
when they shut down vmk right
0:16:47.600,0:16:50.959
where you know they’ve got the
0:16:49.040,0:16:51.519
architecture already in place they’ve
0:16:50.959,0:16:53.920
got
0:16:51.519,0:16:54.639
all the stuff in place for this to run
0:16:53.920,0:16:56.880
right so
0:16:54.639,0:16:58.160
they’re already invested in it right so
0:16:56.880,0:17:00.800
i can’t imagine it’s
0:16:58.160,0:17:02.959
a cost savings unless they’re just going
0:17:00.800,0:17:05.839
to revamp it
0:17:02.959,0:17:06.880
where again instead of using a card
0:17:05.839,0:17:08.720
you’re going to use your
0:17:06.880,0:17:11.520
phone maybe you have to bring up like a
0:17:08.720,0:17:13.439
qr code qr code or a bluetooth scans
0:17:11.520,0:17:14.720
low energy or something like that right
0:17:13.439,0:17:16.240
so maybe you know
0:17:14.720,0:17:18.319
but they haven’t mentioned anything
0:17:16.240,0:17:21.360
about bringing a replacement
0:17:18.319,0:17:24.480
no nothing yet okay all right well
0:17:21.360,0:17:26.799
no it is what it is i guess right yep
0:17:24.480,0:17:28.880
uh that was all we had for disney
0:17:26.799,0:17:31.440
detective we’re gonna take a quick break

go for tails from the edge of the galaxy
0:18:47.919,0:18:55.919
pew pew pew pew so
0:18:52.240,0:18:57.760
our thoughts on the season finale of
0:18:55.919,0:19:00.080
mandalorian
0:18:57.760,0:19:00.880
yes do we have thoughts i think we have
0:19:00.080,0:19:03.760
lots of thoughts
0:19:00.880,0:19:04.559
did we watch it we sure did and we’re
0:19:03.760,0:19:07.280
assuming
0:19:04.559,0:19:09.039
everyone out there has if by now you
0:19:07.280,0:19:09.940
have not watched it
0:19:09.039,0:19:12.880
shame on you
0:19:09.940,0:19:15.600
[Laughter]
0:19:12.880,0:19:16.480
you’re a disappointment no um don’t
0:19:15.600,0:19:19.520
listen
0:19:16.480,0:19:22.000
um but if you know
0:19:19.520,0:19:25.200
if you didn’t watch it by now you’ve
0:19:22.000,0:19:28.559
probably already had spoilers um
0:19:25.200,0:19:31.520
about it and it was i
0:19:28.559,0:19:32.080
personally hadn’t read anything about it
0:19:31.520,0:19:35.440
i know
0:19:32.080,0:19:37.919
you did so you knew
0:19:35.440,0:19:39.600
yes what was gonna happen because you
0:19:37.919,0:19:42.640
hate being surprised
0:19:39.600,0:19:44.480
where i on the other hand i hate knowing
0:19:42.640,0:19:46.320
because then i’m waiting and
0:19:44.480,0:19:49.600
anticipating for
0:19:46.320,0:19:51.520
said thing to happen um
0:19:49.600,0:19:54.080
it was looking kind of bleak it was
0:19:51.520,0:19:57.840
looking kind of dark as the
0:19:54.080,0:19:57.840
episode started and
0:19:58.160,0:20:02.080
how are they going to get out of this
0:19:59.840,0:20:04.880
and all of a sudden
0:20:02.080,0:20:06.159
you see an x-wing fly by yes and you’re
0:20:04.880,0:20:09.600
like
0:20:06.159,0:20:11.360
oh my goodness
0:20:09.600,0:20:13.120
well and the thing is when they kind of
0:20:11.360,0:20:14.080
played that up because you’ve seen
0:20:13.120,0:20:15.840
x-wings show up
0:20:14.080,0:20:17.919
several times in the series right so it
0:20:15.840,0:20:19.760
could be just any x-wing
0:20:17.919,0:20:21.280
you know you’re kind of led to believe
0:20:19.760,0:20:23.200
that it’s these two guys that have been
0:20:21.280,0:20:26.640
flying around and policing the galaxy
0:20:23.200,0:20:28.799
right but you’re hoping and
0:20:26.640,0:20:30.320
then the way that they and and that’s
0:20:28.799,0:20:32.559
that was really the great thing is that
0:20:30.320,0:20:35.360
the way that they played it up
0:20:32.559,0:20:36.320
was that our you know the heroes had
0:20:35.360,0:20:38.720
stormed the bridge
0:20:36.320,0:20:40.000
right so they took over the bridge right
0:20:38.720,0:20:43.039
and
0:20:40.000,0:20:44.720
they were in trouble because these dark
0:20:43.039,0:20:46.559
troopers were all about the store on the
0:20:44.720,0:20:50.400
bridge and kill everybody
0:20:46.559,0:20:53.440
right so you see this arrival
0:20:50.400,0:20:56.559
on uh unfurl
0:20:53.440,0:20:58.720
on various monitors right and you’re
0:20:56.559,0:21:00.320
seeing glimpses of security cameras here
0:20:58.720,0:21:02.159
and there you see the ship show up you
0:21:00.320,0:21:04.400
see the person walking
0:21:02.159,0:21:05.840
and then all of a sudden you see a
0:21:04.400,0:21:06.400
lightsaber come out and it’s not in
0:21:05.840,0:21:07.760
color
0:21:06.400,0:21:10.799
right it’s black and white on these
0:21:07.760,0:21:13.120
screens right so you see a hooded figure
0:21:10.799,0:21:14.799
with a lightsaber and that’s at that
0:21:13.120,0:21:17.440
point in time you could almost assume
0:21:14.799,0:21:18.640
oh ahsoka’s back right right you knew it
0:21:17.440,0:21:20.960
had to be
0:21:18.640,0:21:22.159
some sort of jedi but it was one
0:21:20.960,0:21:25.440
lightsaber this time
0:21:22.159,0:21:28.640
right so everyone you know
0:21:25.440,0:21:30.000
and everyone grabs their their
0:21:28.640,0:21:31.679
edge of their seat here and they’re
0:21:30.000,0:21:34.080
wondering what it is right
0:21:31.679,0:21:36.240
and as the battle goes this person’s
0:21:34.080,0:21:38.559
slicing these guys up blah blah blah
0:21:36.240,0:21:39.840
right and then it cuts to a scene in a
0:21:38.559,0:21:42.240
cargo hold
0:21:39.840,0:21:43.600
that’s a live scene at this point it’s
0:21:42.240,0:21:47.039
not a security camera
0:21:43.600,0:21:49.840
right and you see the color of the saber
0:21:47.039,0:21:50.400
and more importantly for me you see the
0:21:49.840,0:21:53.520
hilt
0:21:50.400,0:21:54.240
and the hilt is instantly recognizable
0:21:53.520,0:21:58.000
to me
0:21:54.240,0:21:59.760
because i own several of them and
0:21:58.000,0:22:01.440
you know at that point even though the
0:21:59.760,0:22:02.480
hood is still up and you don’t see a
0:22:01.440,0:22:05.840
face
0:22:02.480,0:22:09.120
you know who it is right and
0:22:05.840,0:22:11.039
from then on the scene unfurls live
0:22:09.120,0:22:12.240
you don’t see too many of the security
0:22:11.039,0:22:14.960
cameras right right
0:22:12.240,0:22:15.360
so well done the way they did that it
0:22:14.960,0:22:18.480
was
0:22:15.360,0:22:20.080
literally the darth vader scene
0:22:18.480,0:22:22.640
the hallway scene of darth vader from
0:22:20.080,0:22:25.840
rogue one where you got to see
0:22:22.640,0:22:27.679
how badass darth vader was right you got
0:22:25.840,0:22:29.840
to see how badass this person was
0:22:27.679,0:22:31.600
right and they’re slicing they’re
0:22:29.840,0:22:34.720
throwing they’re pushing they’re they’re
0:22:31.600,0:22:37.840
crushing force choking
0:22:34.720,0:22:39.600
it was awesome right and they cut
0:22:37.840,0:22:42.080
through all the bad guys
0:22:39.600,0:22:42.960
they show up on the bridge they pull
0:22:42.080,0:22:46.240
their cloak
0:22:42.960,0:22:50.080
back and you see everybody screams
0:22:46.240,0:22:52.480
a young version of luke skywalker
0:22:50.080,0:22:53.520
um because this is five years after
0:22:52.480,0:22:57.360
return of the jedi
0:22:53.520,0:22:59.520
right so they had to digitally de-age
0:22:57.360,0:23:01.280
mark hamill right and they bring mark
0:22:59.520,0:23:03.120
hamill back in to play
0:23:01.280,0:23:04.480
the voice part right he did the voice
0:23:03.120,0:23:07.679
part but they used
0:23:04.480,0:23:08.320
a different actor for the the body and
0:23:07.679,0:23:11.280
then
0:23:08.320,0:23:12.000
de-aged his face and you know correct
0:23:11.280,0:23:15.520
yeah
0:23:12.000,0:23:17.039
so well done yeah um and you have a
0:23:15.520,0:23:19.280
couple touching moments on the
0:23:17.039,0:23:22.080
on the bridge there yeah because you
0:23:19.280,0:23:25.679
have uh you know luke is there to take
0:23:22.080,0:23:28.000
grogu baby yoda and
0:23:25.679,0:23:29.520
grogu doesn’t want to go right because
0:23:28.000,0:23:32.080
he doesn’t want to leave man though
0:23:29.520,0:23:33.440
right and mando’s in there and his his
0:23:32.080,0:23:34.880
gear he’s got his helmet and everything
0:23:33.440,0:23:36.720
on and
0:23:34.880,0:23:37.919
grogu wants to see his face before he
0:23:36.720,0:23:40.480
goes right
0:23:37.919,0:23:41.120
and you he takes the helmet off right
0:23:40.480,0:23:43.600
you know
0:23:41.120,0:23:44.960
which is at that point in time not as
0:23:43.600,0:23:47.440
shocking as it had been
0:23:44.960,0:23:49.360
right because we’ve you know just in a
0:23:47.440,0:23:52.320
couple of episodes back
0:23:49.360,0:23:54.640
when you know he was on the the base you
0:23:52.320,0:23:57.520
know to blend in with all
0:23:54.640,0:23:58.080
the others he had to take his helmet off
0:23:57.520,0:24:00.320
and you know
0:23:58.080,0:24:01.520
you had this very touching scene
0:24:00.320,0:24:04.880
father-son scene
0:24:01.520,0:24:06.559
here that they have yeah um and this is
0:24:04.880,0:24:09.600
shortly after
0:24:06.559,0:24:12.640
you know moff gideon tries to kill
0:24:09.600,0:24:13.600
baby yoda and he you know mando dives in
0:24:12.640,0:24:16.480
front of
0:24:13.600,0:24:18.000
right the child and then saves him from
0:24:16.480,0:24:21.600
the blaster bolts
0:24:18.000,0:24:24.320
right um and then
0:24:21.600,0:24:26.320
you get one last cameo right and who’s
0:24:24.320,0:24:29.760
the last cameo you get
0:24:26.320,0:24:32.880
that was um
0:24:29.760,0:24:36.320
r2d2 oh right i
0:24:32.880,0:24:37.760
i forgot yeah we were yeah r2d2 r2d2
0:24:36.320,0:24:39.760
follows him around and
0:24:37.760,0:24:41.039
shows up and you get a little cameo of
0:24:39.760,0:24:43.440
r2 there and
0:24:41.039,0:24:44.840
that went oh great and at that point in
0:24:43.440,0:24:48.960
time everybody’s in
0:24:44.840,0:24:51.679
here um
0:24:48.960,0:24:52.640
so well done yeah um and you couldn’t
0:24:51.679,0:24:53.919
have asked for a better
0:24:52.640,0:24:56.159
i don’t know where they’re gonna go from
0:24:53.919,0:24:58.640
here because right
0:24:56.159,0:25:00.159
you can’t but i said the same thing
0:24:58.640,0:25:02.000
after the finale the last one
0:25:00.159,0:25:04.000
where do you go after that right first
0:25:02.000,0:25:07.679
season for that right exactly
0:25:04.000,0:25:10.799
um very satisfied by it
0:25:07.679,0:25:12.640
and then we got a we got a teaser right
0:25:10.799,0:25:14.159
we got a cut scene a post-credit cut
0:25:12.640,0:25:17.840
scene yeah
0:25:14.159,0:25:19.440
of a boba fett who
0:25:17.840,0:25:21.200
takes over the crime syndicate on
0:25:19.440,0:25:23.360
tatooine apparently
0:25:21.200,0:25:24.640
and he’s getting his own show yeah
0:25:23.360,0:25:26.400
apparently everyone gets their own show
0:25:24.640,0:25:28.960
in star wars now
0:25:26.400,0:25:30.480
everybody gets a spin-off which honestly
0:25:28.960,0:25:32.080
is kind of terrifying because i really
0:25:30.480,0:25:33.520
think
0:25:32.080,0:25:35.200
they’re very much in danger of
0:25:33.520,0:25:36.240
over-saturating the market again
0:25:35.200,0:25:38.240
you would have thought they would have
0:25:36.240,0:25:40.400
learned the first time with the movies
0:25:38.240,0:25:43.200
hmm well and the other thing too is that
0:25:40.400,0:25:45.200
the people that are doing the shows are
0:25:43.200,0:25:47.039
different from the people that are doing
0:25:45.200,0:25:49.039
the movies and
0:25:47.039,0:25:51.360
well and that’s the thing if you put
0:25:49.039,0:25:53.440
favreau and falloni in charge of running
0:25:51.360,0:25:56.080
the franchise
0:25:53.440,0:25:57.360
oh they’ll they’ve resurrected it so far
0:25:56.080,0:25:59.200
oh absolutely
0:25:57.360,0:26:00.480
absolutely everything that should be
0:25:59.200,0:26:03.840
done right
0:26:00.480,0:26:05.760
they’ve done which
0:26:03.840,0:26:07.200
completely is counterintuitive to
0:26:05.760,0:26:08.080
everything they did with the sequel
0:26:07.200,0:26:10.080
movies
0:26:08.080,0:26:11.440
which should literally just be thrown
0:26:10.080,0:26:14.080
out right now
0:26:11.440,0:26:15.039
and let favro and filoni redo the sequel
0:26:14.080,0:26:16.720
trilogies
0:26:15.039,0:26:18.480
that wouldn’t be a bad idea and i’m sure
0:26:16.720,0:26:21.760
they’ve probably
0:26:18.480,0:26:22.559
thought about it half people that love
0:26:21.760,0:26:24.000
it do it
0:26:22.559,0:26:25.440
and and that’s the thing because that
0:26:24.000,0:26:26.400
was the other thing that we ended up
0:26:25.440,0:26:29.600
watching was
0:26:26.400,0:26:32.400
they did so when the first season had
0:26:29.600,0:26:33.360
finished they had done an eight-part
0:26:32.400,0:26:36.159
documentary
0:26:33.360,0:26:38.000
right on the season um what they did
0:26:36.159,0:26:39.679
this time around was they just did a
0:26:38.000,0:26:42.880
one-hour special
0:26:39.679,0:26:44.960
you know condensed version of it with
0:26:42.880,0:26:48.080
again behind the scenes stuff
0:26:44.960,0:26:52.559
and and things like that and again
0:26:48.080,0:26:53.520
just seeing the two of them talk about
0:26:52.559,0:26:57.039
it
0:26:53.520,0:27:00.000
they are just as
0:26:57.039,0:27:01.120
you know in love with star wars as as
0:27:00.000,0:27:04.480
all of the fans they
0:27:01.120,0:27:06.640
are fans and they know how to to treat
0:27:04.480,0:27:09.039
it and you see one of those things that
0:27:06.640,0:27:10.880
when i sit down with my star wars fans
0:27:09.039,0:27:13.279
and we geek out over it
0:27:10.880,0:27:14.080
it’s the same exact discussion that they
0:27:13.279,0:27:16.400
have
0:27:14.080,0:27:17.120
on the set of the shows right every day
0:27:16.400,0:27:18.799
and the
0:27:17.120,0:27:20.799
the other thing that was really funny
0:27:18.799,0:27:23.760
too was the one director
0:27:20.799,0:27:24.960
um you know when he was putting together
0:27:23.760,0:27:28.080
his ideas for
0:27:24.960,0:27:30.159
you know he he got his star wars figures
0:27:28.080,0:27:31.120
out and was playing in the backyard with
0:27:30.159,0:27:33.760
his kids
0:27:31.120,0:27:35.760
to help act out you know how he wanted
0:27:33.760,0:27:39.440
using his figures to do the action
0:27:35.760,0:27:41.679
to do the scene you know okay that
0:27:39.440,0:27:42.880
yeah you get my respect yeah you know
0:27:41.679,0:27:44.320
you win right there
0:27:42.880,0:27:46.080
you should get this should be an academy
0:27:44.320,0:27:49.679
award just for authenticity right
0:27:46.080,0:27:51.840
exactly exactly so very satisfied
0:27:49.679,0:27:52.799
um very disappointed that we have to
0:27:51.840,0:27:55.360
wait until
0:27:52.799,0:27:56.799
what december of next year now yeah
0:27:55.360,0:28:00.559
because i believe
0:27:56.799,0:28:01.279
the boba fett story is actually supposed
0:28:00.559,0:28:03.919
to come out
0:28:01.279,0:28:04.480
first yeah and then we’ll get a third
0:28:03.919,0:28:07.279
season
0:28:04.480,0:28:10.399
of mandalorian so so i don’t want to
0:28:07.279,0:28:12.080
wait that long because it’s so good but
0:28:10.399,0:28:13.600
i want to wait that long so they do it
0:28:12.080,0:28:16.399
right right exactly
0:28:13.600,0:28:17.600
exactly anyway that’s our thoughts on
0:28:16.399,0:28:19.039
the mandalorian
0:28:17.600,0:28:21.360
and the next article that we have
0:28:19.039,0:28:24.320
actually is related to that as well
0:28:21.360,0:28:25.840
right so the article uh talks about how
0:28:24.320,0:28:28.480
mark hamill was actually
0:28:25.840,0:28:28.480
left speech
0:28:29.840,0:28:38.320
was left speechless by uh mignon way’s
0:28:34.640,0:28:40.159
comments uh on twitter so they
0:28:38.320,0:28:41.679
kind of were going back and forth so
0:28:40.159,0:28:44.000
obviously um
0:28:41.679,0:28:44.799
as we’ve mentioned mark hamill was part
0:28:44.000,0:28:48.000
of
0:28:44.799,0:28:50.399
um the mandalorian this
0:28:48.000,0:28:51.440
you know the the season finale uh
0:28:50.399,0:28:54.880
obviously he’s
0:28:51.440,0:28:57.679
you know a star wars legend um
0:28:54.880,0:28:58.799
so what was kind of nice was you know
0:28:57.679,0:29:02.399
they were tweeting
0:28:58.799,0:29:04.640
you know some love back and forth um so
0:29:02.399,0:29:06.159
you know mark hamill had basically said
0:29:04.640,0:29:08.960
uh hashtag no
0:29:06.159,0:29:09.440
no words seeing fans reactions to luke’s
0:29:08.960,0:29:11.520
return
0:29:09.440,0:29:13.120
is something i will cherish forever
0:29:11.520,0:29:16.320
their anticipation
0:29:13.120,0:29:17.360
of seeing the x-wing in episode six then
0:29:16.320,0:29:20.559
a robe
0:29:17.360,0:29:21.440
a lightsaber a green lightsaber a gloved
0:29:20.559,0:29:25.360
hand
0:29:21.440,0:29:25.760
an ungloved hand a force choke r2d2 was
0:29:25.360,0:29:29.919
just
0:29:25.760,0:29:33.039
overwhelming very moving to me and then
0:29:29.919,0:29:36.399
menya had responded saying
0:29:33.039,0:29:38.880
you and luke have been immensely
0:29:36.399,0:29:40.399
inspirational and packed and impactful
0:29:38.880,0:29:42.799
to my childhood
0:29:40.399,0:29:44.799
and as an adult and to have shared a
0:29:42.799,0:29:45.520
scene with you in the mandalorian is
0:29:44.799,0:29:48.080
truly
0:29:45.520,0:29:48.960
one of the biggest highlight not just in
0:29:48.080,0:29:51.840
my career
0:29:48.960,0:29:53.120
but in my life thank you smiley face
0:29:51.840,0:29:56.080
with a hardship
0:29:53.120,0:29:57.279
with heart-shaped red eyes uh your fan
0:29:56.080,0:30:01.600
always
0:29:57.279,0:30:03.520
menya and then mark wrote back you know
0:30:01.600,0:30:05.200
you know he said so this happened and
0:30:03.520,0:30:07.520
i’m literally speechless
0:30:05.200,0:30:08.480
other than to say the pleasure was all
0:30:07.520,0:30:10.720
mine
0:30:08.480,0:30:11.520
uh you’re not so bad yourself hashtag
0:30:10.720,0:30:15.120
you’re not so bad
0:30:11.520,0:30:18.159
yourself um and then she actually
0:30:15.120,0:30:18.880
uh had talked about how you know it was
0:30:18.159,0:30:21.679
kind of like
0:30:18.880,0:30:23.600
nerd nirvana adding that it was way
0:30:21.679,0:30:26.480
cooler than the time that she met
0:30:23.600,0:30:27.440
uh aerosmith stephen tyler and spilled
0:30:26.480,0:30:29.360
red wine on
0:30:27.440,0:30:30.880
her arm and he wiped it off with a
0:30:29.360,0:30:34.799
cocktail napkin so
0:30:30.880,0:30:34.799
that ranked up you know higher
0:30:35.120,0:30:40.720
so it’s mark hamill then stephen tyler
0:30:38.720,0:30:42.000
spilling wine on her well you know the
0:30:40.720,0:30:45.120
one thing i have to say
0:30:42.000,0:30:47.200
is it’s nice to see not only this love
0:30:45.120,0:30:50.080
from the actors themselves
0:30:47.200,0:30:50.799
but the love from the fans for this for
0:30:50.080,0:30:52.880
this work
0:30:50.799,0:30:53.919
absolutely seeing what happened after
0:30:52.880,0:30:55.600
some of these other
0:30:53.919,0:30:57.440
after phantom menace and what happened
0:30:55.600,0:30:59.200
to omaha best and
0:30:57.440,0:31:00.880
right you know what happened to kelly
0:30:59.200,0:31:04.880
tran after
0:31:00.880,0:31:07.279
um last jedi right you know
0:31:04.880,0:31:08.240
seeing that kind of toxic stuff come up
0:31:07.279,0:31:10.480
from the fans
0:31:08.240,0:31:11.279
really is very disappointing but this
0:31:10.480,0:31:14.399
show itself
0:31:11.279,0:31:16.159
has drawn people in you know i have a i
0:31:14.399,0:31:19.760
have one of my employees down
0:31:16.159,0:31:21.120
in uh maryland who uh watches it with
0:31:19.760,0:31:23.519
his son
0:31:21.120,0:31:24.480
and he he said he gets angry to some
0:31:23.519,0:31:28.080
because his son
0:31:24.480,0:31:31.279
watches it without him he’s so into it
0:31:28.080,0:31:32.559
um so it’s it’s it’s sort of that that
0:31:31.279,0:31:35.120
bonding style
0:31:32.559,0:31:36.880
it pulls people in people that weren’t
0:31:35.120,0:31:39.519
even star wars fans
0:31:36.880,0:31:41.120
watching this and loving it yeah um and
0:31:39.519,0:31:42.559
that tells you something right there it
0:31:41.120,0:31:46.399
tells you that they’re doing
0:31:42.559,0:31:48.159
everything right right so it’s it’s a
0:31:46.399,0:31:50.640
it’s a wonderful thing to see that kind
0:31:48.159,0:31:53.120
of enthusiasm yeah
0:31:50.640,0:31:54.799
so that was all we had for our tales

0:33:09.519,0:33:13.760
go for entertainment news
0:33:15.679,0:33:22.080
so let’s talk about that jumbled mess
0:33:18.799,0:33:25.679
that was wonder woman 1984. so
0:33:22.080,0:33:28.480
this was one that i was excited
0:33:25.679,0:33:29.919
to watch we had been you know waiting
0:33:28.480,0:33:31.039
for it it was supposed to come out
0:33:29.919,0:33:34.240
during the summer
0:33:31.039,0:33:35.360
then it got pushed back and you know got
0:33:34.240,0:33:37.679
moved around
0:33:35.360,0:33:39.039
and then we were excited to hear that
0:33:37.679,0:33:42.559
not only was it going to be
0:33:39.039,0:33:45.919
released in theaters but hbo max was
0:33:42.559,0:33:49.120
going to uh be offering it so
0:33:45.919,0:33:52.320
we signed up for it so we were ready so
0:33:49.120,0:33:53.440
christmas day after we did all our
0:33:52.320,0:33:55.519
presents and had
0:33:53.440,0:33:58.399
breakfast it was time to go watch wonder
0:33:55.519,0:33:58.399
woman yay
0:34:00.080,0:34:03.600
that’s that’s two and a half hours of my
0:34:02.159,0:34:04.240
life i would have liked to have gotten
0:34:03.600,0:34:07.200
back
0:34:04.240,0:34:08.560
yeah it was and i was eagerly
0:34:07.200,0:34:12.240
anticipating it too
0:34:08.560,0:34:15.200
yeah and it was an absolute
0:34:12.240,0:34:15.520
disappointment i mean i loved the first
0:34:15.200,0:34:20.079
one
0:34:15.520,0:34:22.399
it was so well done yeah this one was
0:34:20.079,0:34:23.599
i’m still puzzled as to why it was set
0:34:22.399,0:34:26.879
in 1984
0:34:23.599,0:34:29.280
other than for the the novelty of it
0:34:26.879,0:34:30.480
right the plot had nothing to do with
0:34:29.280,0:34:33.599
the timeline
0:34:30.480,0:34:36.480
right the effects
0:34:33.599,0:34:38.399
that we saw in there like first of all
0:34:36.480,0:34:39.839
it was too much digital digital effects
0:34:38.399,0:34:44.240
over the top
0:34:39.839,0:34:47.119
and the fact that her magic lasso
0:34:44.240,0:34:49.359
can do literally anything right it’s
0:34:47.119,0:34:54.240
it’s such an uber plot twist
0:34:49.359,0:34:54.240
she was swinging off of lightning bolts
0:34:55.359,0:35:00.960
an airplane at 30 000 feet until she
0:34:58.880,0:35:02.160
learned how to fly on her own just from
0:35:00.960,0:35:05.119
encouragement
0:35:02.160,0:35:06.400
right from steve trevor who shouldn’t
0:35:05.119,0:35:07.440
have come back but managed to be
0:35:06.400,0:35:09.839
reincreated
0:35:07.440,0:35:10.640
recreate it somehow in somebody else’s
0:35:09.839,0:35:13.200
it was just
0:35:10.640,0:35:15.440
it was all over the place and it was
0:35:13.200,0:35:17.440
just
0:35:15.440,0:35:19.760
it was a mess it was i mean i can’t
0:35:17.440,0:35:20.240
describe it any other way that it was
0:35:19.760,0:35:23.280
just
0:35:20.240,0:35:24.640
a mess and i’m still confused as to who
0:35:23.280,0:35:27.359
the villain was
0:35:24.640,0:35:28.800
because by the end of the movie the
0:35:27.359,0:35:30.240
villain was someone you were supposed to
0:35:28.800,0:35:32.480
have sympathy for
0:35:30.240,0:35:33.280
right both of the villains were right
0:35:32.480,0:35:36.400
right
0:35:33.280,0:35:39.119
and it just it made no sense
0:35:36.400,0:35:41.520
whatsoever watching it right it was like
0:35:39.119,0:35:42.160
15 different concepts all crammed into a
0:35:41.520,0:35:44.480
blender
0:35:42.160,0:35:45.440
turned on shred it up and then pour it
0:35:44.480,0:35:47.760
out on the screen
0:35:45.440,0:35:50.079
right and and you know the one thing
0:35:47.760,0:35:54.000
that kind of
0:35:50.079,0:35:57.800
came to my mind was the campiness
0:35:54.000,0:36:00.880
of the original
0:35:57.800,0:36:05.200
1970s uh tv
0:36:00.880,0:36:07.760
version of wonder woman and in some ways
0:36:05.200,0:36:08.240
i was getting that feel that they were
0:36:07.760,0:36:12.320
maybe
0:36:08.240,0:36:14.960
trying to do a little of that
0:36:12.320,0:36:16.720
but again it you know like there were
0:36:14.960,0:36:18.400
parts of the movie that i liked
0:36:16.720,0:36:20.000
there were you know i was like okay this
0:36:18.400,0:36:23.760
is kind of cool and
0:36:20.000,0:36:25.599
you know and and then you know like the
0:36:23.760,0:36:28.240
the whole opening scene
0:36:25.599,0:36:29.839
was really kind of cool right but then
0:36:28.240,0:36:31.200
it was like
0:36:29.839,0:36:32.880
well and that was the problem with the
0:36:31.200,0:36:36.079
opening scene it was
0:36:32.880,0:36:36.560
20 minutes right of an opening that they
0:36:36.079,0:36:38.960
never
0:36:36.560,0:36:40.400
teach you not to cheat right that was
0:36:38.960,0:36:41.920
literally all you got to do
0:36:40.400,0:36:45.200
that was the whole thing i kept
0:36:41.920,0:36:47.200
expecting something
0:36:45.200,0:36:49.200
bigger right to come where it was just
0:36:47.200,0:36:51.520
like okay you spent all that
0:36:49.200,0:36:52.800
time it was it was 20 minutes of don’t
0:36:51.520,0:36:54.800
take a shortcut
0:36:52.800,0:36:56.000
right and it was like at the end of the
0:36:54.800,0:36:58.000
movie you’re like
0:36:56.000,0:36:59.760
why was that even in there right you
0:36:58.000,0:37:02.400
know you probably could have done
0:36:59.760,0:37:04.160
a two-minute yeah you’re gonna do the
0:37:02.400,0:37:04.800
training montage you got away with it
0:37:04.160,0:37:07.599
right
0:37:04.800,0:37:08.079
you know and and then again the whole
0:37:07.599,0:37:12.560
okay
0:37:08.079,0:37:15.040
why was it set in the 80s
0:37:12.560,0:37:16.880
okay maybe you didn’t want to set it in
0:37:15.040,0:37:18.560
you know the 2000s or whatever because
0:37:16.880,0:37:21.200
then you’re getting that mesh of
0:37:18.560,0:37:22.000
the justice league and everybody said it
0:37:21.200,0:37:23.839
in the 80s
0:37:22.000,0:37:25.280
just so they could do a joke on fanny
0:37:23.839,0:37:26.160
packs when they were doing the fashion
0:37:25.280,0:37:28.320
show with trevor
0:37:26.160,0:37:29.760
maybe yeah that was literally the only
0:37:28.320,0:37:30.880
thing right like i could have seen like
0:37:29.760,0:37:32.640
the 70s
0:37:30.880,0:37:34.320
you know maybe like the 60s would have
0:37:32.640,0:37:38.320
been you know
0:37:34.320,0:37:42.160
and maybe the 80s because of the whole
0:37:38.320,0:37:44.960
um the the the ponzi scheme
0:37:42.160,0:37:46.640
and things like that because that was
0:37:44.960,0:37:49.359
really when
0:37:46.640,0:37:50.079
that whole thing started to take off and
0:37:49.359,0:37:52.480
you know
0:37:50.079,0:37:53.359
uh you know wall street and greed is
0:37:52.480,0:37:55.920
good and
0:37:53.359,0:37:58.160
you know so i could kind of see it was
0:37:55.920,0:37:59.599
the reasoning was flimsy at best right
0:37:58.160,0:38:00.160
and that’s what i’m saying because again
0:37:59.599,0:38:03.920
there was
0:38:00.160,0:38:05.440
nothing else to you know obviously you
0:38:03.920,0:38:08.800
needed to see
0:38:05.440,0:38:12.000
that she doesn’t age it was
0:38:08.800,0:38:12.560
what the 1940s the last time earlier
0:38:12.000,0:38:14.800
than that
0:38:12.560,0:38:16.000
because it was 19 oh world war so okay
0:38:14.800,0:38:19.839
so it was you know
0:38:16.000,0:38:22.960
1917 1980 okay so the 1920s ish
0:38:19.839,0:38:25.760
we’ll say um you know and
0:38:22.960,0:38:26.880
she’s basically been able to you know do
0:38:25.760,0:38:30.320
all these things
0:38:26.880,0:38:32.800
and and kind of uh keep herself hidden
0:38:30.320,0:38:36.960
for the most part
0:38:32.800,0:38:39.839
okay so again why 1984 besides
0:38:36.960,0:38:41.839
that and then you know she kind of keeps
0:38:39.839,0:38:44.079
herself hidden when she’s
0:38:41.839,0:38:46.160
fighting you know bad guys in the mall
0:38:44.079,0:38:49.520
because she’s making sure to take out
0:38:46.160,0:38:50.480
cameras right but yet then there’s other
0:38:49.520,0:38:52.400
things where
0:38:50.480,0:38:54.320
you know now you’re in the white house
0:38:52.400,0:38:55.839
well and that was the other scene like
0:38:54.320,0:38:58.800
you’re in the white house you
0:38:55.839,0:39:00.720
you you have a fight with a there’s
0:38:58.800,0:39:02.160
another super-powered bad guy in the
0:39:00.720,0:39:04.800
white house
0:39:02.160,0:39:06.400
you beat the crap out of a whole bunch
0:39:04.800,0:39:08.720
of secret service guys
0:39:06.400,0:39:09.839
right and then you walk out of the white
0:39:08.720,0:39:11.520
house and nobody
0:39:09.839,0:39:14.240
and nobody stops you nobody asks you
0:39:11.520,0:39:18.000
anything i mean right like
0:39:14.240,0:39:19.520
it it just it made no sense yeah
0:39:18.000,0:39:21.119
and the worst part about this whole
0:39:19.520,0:39:22.800
thing had nothing to do with this movie
0:39:21.119,0:39:24.400
really it was the fact
0:39:22.800,0:39:26.720
that disney announced they were giving
0:39:24.400,0:39:29.920
paddy jenkins a star wars movie
0:39:26.720,0:39:31.280
but you know there’s a lot that goes
0:39:29.920,0:39:33.440
into
0:39:31.280,0:39:34.960
you know it’s it’s not always the
0:39:33.440,0:39:36.480
director it’s not all
0:39:34.960,0:39:38.560
you know it’s the script she was the
0:39:36.480,0:39:39.839
director and she was the executive
0:39:38.560,0:39:43.200
producer on this
0:39:39.839,0:39:45.359
and she co-wrote the script so she had
0:39:43.200,0:39:47.760
complete involvement in this from
0:39:45.359,0:39:47.760
day one
0:39:49.440,0:39:55.599
and that scares me yeah well
0:39:52.560,0:39:56.000
so i mean yeah not all sequels are good
0:39:55.599,0:39:58.720
in fact
0:39:56.000,0:39:59.920
most sequels usually tend to suck right
0:39:58.720,0:40:01.920
you know and and there was
0:39:59.920,0:40:03.680
this was just not even worth it and that
0:40:01.920,0:40:08.160
was the bucks we spent to get
0:40:03.680,0:40:09.280
well thank god it was only 15 bucks and
0:40:08.160,0:40:11.200
not 45
0:40:09.280,0:40:12.319
for us that’s the saving grace of this
0:40:11.200,0:40:15.440
movie is that i
0:40:12.319,0:40:17.359
only lost 15 watching 15
0:40:15.440,0:40:18.480
in two and a half hours yeah yeah and
0:40:17.359,0:40:20.400
that’s and
0:40:18.480,0:40:22.480
that’s pretty bad when the movie is so
0:40:20.400,0:40:23.680
bad we pause it in the middle for a
0:40:22.480,0:40:26.079
bathroom break or
0:40:23.680,0:40:27.760
what my one friend from from work he
0:40:26.079,0:40:31.440
actually fast forwarded
0:40:27.760,0:40:33.280
he said he he got to point a point now
0:40:31.440,0:40:34.880
he never saw the first one
0:40:33.280,0:40:36.720
and that’s a shame because and that’s
0:40:34.880,0:40:38.319
probably good because now you can go
0:40:36.720,0:40:40.079
watch the first one
0:40:38.319,0:40:42.079
oh my god this is so much better right
0:40:40.079,0:40:43.040
exactly so he was telling me when we
0:40:42.079,0:40:46.160
were talking about it
0:40:43.040,0:40:47.440
how he just sat there and probably fast
0:40:46.160,0:40:49.440
forward through almost an
0:40:47.440,0:40:51.119
hour of stuff and would kind of wait
0:40:49.440,0:40:54.560
till he saw like a fight scene
0:40:51.119,0:40:56.880
and then she did a mr miyagi and
0:40:54.560,0:40:58.800
rubbed her hands together to make the
0:40:56.880,0:41:02.000
plane invisible
0:40:58.800,0:41:05.920
that’s how she got an invisible jet
0:41:02.000,0:41:06.319
that it’s just like well and did we ever
0:41:05.920,0:41:09.920
know
0:41:06.319,0:41:11.760
like in how like we always knew she had
0:41:09.920,0:41:13.200
an invisible jack she didn’t get it from
0:41:11.760,0:41:14.240
rubbing her hands together i can tell
0:41:13.200,0:41:16.400
you that right now like
0:41:14.240,0:41:17.760
i don’t know what was the origin of of
0:41:16.400,0:41:19.839
her cabin
0:41:17.760,0:41:20.960
you know maybe this was she didn’t rub
0:41:19.839,0:41:22.240
her hands together make the jet
0:41:20.960,0:41:24.560
invisible nor did she
0:41:22.240,0:41:27.599
swing off of lightning bolt that’s
0:41:24.560,0:41:30.000
physically impossible
0:41:27.599,0:41:30.640
physically impossible wait hold on wait
0:41:30.000,0:41:33.599
a second
0:41:30.640,0:41:36.160
superheroes hello look i’ll i’ll stretch
0:41:33.599,0:41:37.680
the imagination for super powers if you
0:41:36.160,0:41:38.480
want to give me some kind of super
0:41:37.680,0:41:42.000
natural
0:41:38.480,0:41:43.040
that’s totally impossible none of this
0:41:42.000,0:41:45.920
is impossible
0:41:43.040,0:41:46.560
had she hit the lightning bolt with the
0:41:45.920,0:41:50.079
lasso
0:41:46.560,0:41:53.200
it would have turned it into dust
0:41:50.079,0:41:53.839
okay i love how that’s here it’s just it
0:41:53.200,0:41:56.240
really it’s
0:41:53.839,0:41:57.520
that’s how ludicrous that’s that that’s
0:41:56.240,0:41:58.319
what you’re going to stop being over the
0:41:57.520,0:42:02.560
edge
0:41:58.319,0:42:05.599
was swinging off of lightning bolts
0:42:02.560,0:42:06.800
i i just okay i mean and that’s prior to
0:42:05.599,0:42:09.680
her
0:42:06.800,0:42:10.960
learning to fly just by getting
0:42:09.680,0:42:14.319
encouragement
0:42:10.960,0:42:15.920
from a pilot right so anybody can fly
0:42:14.319,0:42:18.079
right you just have to be encouraged to
0:42:15.920,0:42:21.839
do it you just have to have a pilot
0:42:18.079,0:42:23.520
tell you to ride the air
0:42:21.839,0:42:24.880
she doesn’t have any superpowers that
0:42:23.520,0:42:28.000
lets her fly
0:42:24.880,0:42:30.560
it’s just happy thoughts
0:42:28.000,0:42:32.640
she doesn’t even have like pixie dust
0:42:30.560,0:42:36.420
okay
0:42:32.640,0:42:38.319
just happy thoughts she can fly
0:42:36.420,0:42:39.839
[Music]
0:42:38.319,0:42:42.480
all right blood pressure’s too high
0:42:39.839,0:42:44.319
let’s move on here let’s talk about
0:42:42.480,0:42:46.400
hamilton and the fact that they’re
0:42:44.319,0:42:48.240
definitely not getting an oscar yeah so
0:42:46.400,0:42:50.560
it seems that it’s official that disney
0:42:48.240,0:42:52.079
pluses hamilton won’t be eligible for
0:42:50.560,0:42:55.200
oscars despite
0:42:52.079,0:42:58.240
potentially being up for other awards so
0:42:55.200,0:43:01.440
the musical obviously has had dominated
0:42:58.240,0:43:03.359
broadway ever since premiered in 2015
0:43:01.440,0:43:05.200
but obviously with everything that’s
0:43:03.359,0:43:08.400
been going on theater has
0:43:05.200,0:43:11.520
been you know virtually non-existent but
0:43:08.400,0:43:14.960
audience audiences did get to
0:43:11.520,0:43:17.280
uh witness hamilton over the summer
0:43:14.960,0:43:19.359
um disney was originally planning to
0:43:17.280,0:43:21.680
release the filmed version
0:43:19.359,0:43:24.000
of hamilton in the theater sometime in
0:43:21.680,0:43:27.839
the fall of 2021
0:43:24.000,0:43:30.000
but obviously when the pandemic hit and
0:43:27.839,0:43:31.599
you know there wasn’t much entertainment
0:43:30.000,0:43:34.880
out there disney had changed
0:43:31.599,0:43:37.599
uh their mind and uh
0:43:34.880,0:43:38.640
this past july made it available on
0:43:37.599,0:43:42.400
disney plus
0:43:38.640,0:43:45.440
and also with that they ended up getting
0:43:42.400,0:43:46.319
a heck of a lot more subscribers uh to
0:43:45.440,0:43:49.680
disney plus
0:43:46.319,0:43:52.880
uh as well because of that so obviously
0:43:49.680,0:43:56.079
all of this kind of had people wondering
0:43:52.880,0:43:58.079
if hamilton would now be eligible for
0:43:56.079,0:43:59.200
an oscar and that was something that
0:43:58.079,0:44:01.760
kind of went
0:43:59.200,0:44:02.640
back and forth and you know we’ve talked
0:44:01.760,0:44:06.040
about
0:44:02.640,0:44:09.040
oscar contenders before and what the
0:44:06.040,0:44:12.000
stipulations are and that
0:44:09.040,0:44:12.400
um you know netflix had a couple of show
0:44:12.000,0:44:16.079
uh
0:44:12.400,0:44:19.119
movies that were able to be eligible
0:44:16.079,0:44:22.800
for oscar because they had uh
0:44:19.119,0:44:24.800
first premiered in the certain theaters
0:44:22.800,0:44:26.160
within los angeles county and things
0:44:24.800,0:44:29.359
like that but
0:44:26.160,0:44:31.680
then they kind of changed the rules
0:44:29.359,0:44:34.240
because they talked about
0:44:31.680,0:44:35.359
how because of theaters being closed
0:44:34.240,0:44:38.079
they were going
0:44:35.359,0:44:38.560
to allow certain movies that were going
0:44:38.079,0:44:42.240
to be
0:44:38.560,0:44:42.720
streamed to be eligible but it seems
0:44:42.240,0:44:45.200
after
0:44:42.720,0:44:47.040
kind of going back and forth because
0:44:45.200,0:44:50.400
this is actually a
0:44:47.040,0:44:52.000
filmed version of a live
0:44:50.400,0:44:53.839
show i think that’s where the
0:44:52.000,0:44:57.760
technicality
0:44:53.839,0:45:01.359
kind of uh that’s where the the oscar
0:44:57.760,0:45:04.079
um committee has has basically come in
0:45:01.359,0:45:05.520
and said that it wouldn’t be eligible
0:45:04.079,0:45:08.240
but the other thing
0:45:05.520,0:45:09.920
that um seems to be coming out is that
0:45:08.240,0:45:13.200
it will be able
0:45:09.920,0:45:16.240
to uh be up for a golden globe
0:45:13.200,0:45:19.760
and also sag awards uh
0:45:16.240,0:45:22.640
as well so it’s still a contender uh
0:45:19.760,0:45:23.040
for some sort of awards but obviously
0:45:22.640,0:45:26.319
not
0:45:23.040,0:45:29.599
for um the oscars which
0:45:26.319,0:45:31.520
you know i guess it’s not horrible um
0:45:29.599,0:45:33.440
well and i gotta tell you i’m not i’m
0:45:31.520,0:45:34.720
not surprised at this decision given the
0:45:33.440,0:45:37.599
other shenanigans of
0:45:34.720,0:45:40.079
of right various entities martin
0:45:37.599,0:45:42.160
scorsese being one of them and
0:45:40.079,0:45:43.760
steven spielberg being another one of
0:45:42.160,0:45:47.200
them trying to restrict
0:45:43.760,0:45:48.400
what movies can be uh nominated for
0:45:47.200,0:45:50.400
oscars for
0:45:48.400,0:45:52.720
whatever reason like i i still don’t
0:45:50.400,0:45:55.200
understand why
0:45:52.720,0:45:55.920
they’re so against giving the just
0:45:55.200,0:45:58.480
rewards
0:45:55.920,0:45:59.839
to such creative geniuses well and
0:45:58.480,0:46:03.280
that’s the thing is
0:45:59.839,0:46:06.000
they were both on opposite sides where
0:46:03.280,0:46:06.560
steven spielberg was it needs to be a
0:46:06.000,0:46:08.640
film
0:46:06.560,0:46:09.920
and not on streaming where martin
0:46:08.640,0:46:12.480
scorsese
0:46:09.920,0:46:13.680
the irishman which was his which was
0:46:12.480,0:46:17.119
primarily
0:46:13.680,0:46:17.680
netflix that was you know he was okay
0:46:17.119,0:46:19.839
with it
0:46:17.680,0:46:22.000
going so they were kind of on on either
0:46:19.839,0:46:22.880
so why you would want to deny it is
0:46:22.000,0:46:24.800
beyond me
0:46:22.880,0:46:26.720
right especially this show itself it
0:46:24.800,0:46:28.560
wasn’t just somebody set up a couple of
0:46:26.720,0:46:29.280
cameras in the audience and filmed a
0:46:28.560,0:46:32.000
stage show
0:46:29.280,0:46:33.680
right this movie that was shown on
0:46:32.000,0:46:37.200
disney plus
0:46:33.680,0:46:40.640
was a stage show come to life
0:46:37.200,0:46:42.000
on film they had special camera angles
0:46:40.640,0:46:44.480
special techniques they
0:46:42.000,0:46:46.240
had multiple filming days they did it
0:46:44.480,0:46:49.839
with and without an audience
0:46:46.240,0:46:52.000
it was a major production to do
0:46:49.839,0:46:53.599
to present it in a way that you could
0:46:52.000,0:46:57.040
never see it in the theater
0:46:53.599,0:47:00.480
right that alone should qualify it
0:46:57.040,0:47:02.560
for these awards yeah but you have
0:47:00.480,0:47:04.160
you know these ridiculously over
0:47:02.560,0:47:07.680
controlling people who don’t want to
0:47:04.160,0:47:09.200
accept that yeah so and it’s you know
0:47:07.680,0:47:11.119
it’s one thing if you’ve got your own
0:47:09.200,0:47:13.599
movie up and it’s competing against it
0:47:11.119,0:47:14.800
you want to right sort of sought the
0:47:13.599,0:47:18.720
deck so that you win
0:47:14.800,0:47:19.200
right um i don’t know i i don’t get it
0:47:18.720,0:47:21.359
if it’s
0:47:19.200,0:47:22.319
if it’s if it meets the qualifications
0:47:21.359,0:47:24.800
right exactly
0:47:22.319,0:47:26.480
it should be eligible exactly so why
0:47:24.800,0:47:28.160
wouldn’t you want to encourage more
0:47:26.480,0:47:30.079
creative development like that right
0:47:28.160,0:47:32.400
right
0:47:30.079,0:47:34.000
anyway so that was all we had for our
0:47:32.400,0:47:37.359
entertainment news this week
0:47:34.000,0:47:40.240
we’ll be right back with our uh
0:47:37.359,0:47:42.319
with what our uh insightful picks right
0:47:40.240,0:47:42.960
our creative fix now our insightful
0:47:42.319,0:47:47.359
picks
0:47:42.960,0:47:47.359
those things we do we’ll be right back
0:47:48.870,0:47:53.680
[Applause]
0:47:50.720,0:47:54.720
go for your insightful pick so my
0:47:53.680,0:47:57.920
insightful pick
0:47:54.720,0:47:58.640
uh is a show that uh started streaming
0:47:57.920,0:48:02.480
on
0:47:58.640,0:48:04.000
christmas day um on netflix and it is
0:48:02.480,0:48:08.400
called bridgerton
0:48:04.000,0:48:11.440
um it is a mirror it is a a period drama
0:48:08.400,0:48:13.359
uh series um that is actually based off
0:48:11.440,0:48:17.359
of a set of novels
0:48:13.359,0:48:18.640
by julia quinn um and the books came out
0:48:17.359,0:48:21.680
i want to say in the
0:48:18.640,0:48:24.160
90s i think i uh different people i
0:48:21.680,0:48:24.880
i never read the books but i know uh
0:48:24.160,0:48:26.480
different people
0:48:24.880,0:48:28.559
different friends of mine who have read
0:48:26.480,0:48:30.400
the books and they were very excited
0:48:28.559,0:48:31.680
uh to see the show come out and then
0:48:30.400,0:48:33.920
people that have now
0:48:31.680,0:48:35.599
uh finished watching the show that want
0:48:33.920,0:48:38.720
to go back and
0:48:35.599,0:48:40.960
read the set of books
0:48:38.720,0:48:43.359
so the drama actually centers around the
0:48:40.960,0:48:45.920
bridgeton family
0:48:43.359,0:48:46.559
where violet is the mother she is a
0:48:45.920,0:48:49.680
widow
0:48:46.559,0:48:52.640
and she has four sons and four daughters
0:48:49.680,0:48:53.520
and also kind of a competing family uh
0:48:52.640,0:48:56.640
in town
0:48:53.520,0:48:59.440
uh the featheringtons and the
0:48:56.640,0:49:01.200
uh story basically takes place in the
0:48:59.440,0:49:04.079
competitive world of
0:49:01.200,0:49:05.359
region uh regency london uh high
0:49:04.079,0:49:08.079
societies town
0:49:05.359,0:49:09.599
during the season where debutants are
0:49:08.079,0:49:13.040
presented at court
0:49:09.599,0:49:16.400
and basically you get to see
0:49:13.040,0:49:19.599
you know how it all um you know
0:49:16.400,0:49:21.680
kind of works its way out um
0:49:19.599,0:49:23.440
the interesting thing about it is when
0:49:21.680,0:49:23.920
you start watching it you can you know
0:49:23.440,0:49:28.000
it
0:49:23.920,0:49:31.200
kind of has that look of you know
0:49:28.000,0:49:33.520
you know a typical british period drama
0:49:31.200,0:49:35.119
you know with the fancy people with
0:49:33.520,0:49:36.800
their clothes and
0:49:35.119,0:49:38.480
you know and the dapper gentlemen
0:49:36.800,0:49:39.440
strolling and then all of a sudden you
0:49:38.480,0:49:42.720
realize
0:49:39.440,0:49:45.119
it’s a little bit different because the
0:49:42.720,0:49:46.319
one prosperous gentleman that’s walking
0:49:45.119,0:49:48.880
down the street
0:49:46.319,0:49:49.839
happens to be black and he’s courting a
0:49:48.880,0:49:53.200
white woman
0:49:49.839,0:49:56.839
and nobody is
0:49:53.200,0:49:58.960
making any qualms about it it’s just a
0:49:56.839,0:50:01.760
normal thing
0:49:58.960,0:50:02.880
it kind of reminds me there was i think
0:50:01.760,0:50:05.200
it was only
0:50:02.880,0:50:06.960
one season um and i don’t even remember
0:50:05.200,0:50:10.319
how many years ago
0:50:06.960,0:50:13.680
but they had kind of done a reboot of
0:50:10.319,0:50:15.760
romeo and juliet um where
0:50:13.680,0:50:17.280
they had kind of done it was still kind
0:50:15.760,0:50:20.079
of set in that
0:50:17.280,0:50:21.440
same time period but the cast was
0:50:20.079,0:50:24.880
multicultural
0:50:21.440,0:50:28.720
um so you had you know black white
0:50:24.880,0:50:32.000
african uh um black white uh
0:50:28.720,0:50:35.280
asian um you know
0:50:32.000,0:50:37.839
and and um latino
0:50:35.280,0:50:40.160
basically playing you know all different
0:50:37.839,0:50:42.240
characters and the family was like a mix
0:50:40.160,0:50:44.079
you know each family was kind of mixed
0:50:42.240,0:50:47.119
and this is kind of
0:50:44.079,0:50:50.000
the um
0:50:47.119,0:50:51.440
a little bit of of that vibe to it is
0:50:50.000,0:50:55.839
that there’s no color
0:50:51.440,0:50:59.200
you know everybody is just a human being
0:50:55.839,0:50:59.520
in in some respects um so if you like
0:50:59.200,0:51:02.640
that
0:50:59.520,0:51:03.839
that period drama um it’s a very
0:51:02.640,0:51:06.480
romantic
0:51:03.839,0:51:07.599
um there’s some scandal going on there’s
0:51:06.480,0:51:10.559
some mystery
0:51:07.599,0:51:11.680
uh the other little uh undertone of the
0:51:10.559,0:51:14.319
show is that
0:51:11.680,0:51:15.359
there’s um a newsletter i guess that
0:51:14.319,0:51:18.319
kind of comes out
0:51:15.359,0:51:18.800
once a week and nobody knows who writes
0:51:18.319,0:51:21.280
it
0:51:18.800,0:51:22.079
and it’s kind of like the gossip column
0:51:21.280,0:51:24.240
of
0:51:22.079,0:51:26.240
of the day and everybody you know is
0:51:24.240,0:51:27.440
trying to figure out who is the the
0:51:26.240,0:51:30.640
author of this
0:51:27.440,0:51:32.400
and and what uh what not to it so that
0:51:30.640,0:51:36.160
kind of adds to it and you kind of
0:51:32.400,0:51:39.599
see the you know all the eligible women
0:51:36.160,0:51:43.040
vying for you know the best suitor
0:51:39.599,0:51:46.160
and and what it really means to them to
0:51:43.040,0:51:47.200
you know to marry and you know move on
0:51:46.160,0:51:49.440
to the next stage
0:51:47.200,0:51:51.040
you know of their life so really well
0:51:49.440,0:51:52.640
done and even the music
0:51:51.040,0:51:55.040
too like when they’re going to balls
0:51:52.640,0:51:56.319
it’s you know it’s that classical music
0:51:55.040,0:51:58.800
but every now and then you kind of
0:51:56.319,0:51:59.359
listen and you realize it’s a modern pop
0:51:58.800,0:52:02.000
song
0:51:59.359,0:52:03.920
but they’re doing it in classical music
0:52:02.000,0:52:05.200
so it kind of sets it so it kind of
0:52:03.920,0:52:07.680
reminds me of
0:52:05.200,0:52:10.240
a knight’s tale when they do different
0:52:07.680,0:52:13.599
dance routines but yet they’re playing
0:52:10.240,0:52:16.400
a modern song you know in a classical
0:52:13.599,0:52:19.839
way so very well done cool good pick
0:52:16.400,0:52:19.839
thank you
0:52:19.910,0:52:25.280
[Applause]
0:52:22.160,0:52:26.319
so my pick this week is uh along the
0:52:25.280,0:52:28.559
lines of
0:52:26.319,0:52:30.000
back the status as usual is a
0:52:28.559,0:52:31.920
documentary called
0:52:30.000,0:52:33.920
flying through time this is actually an
0:52:31.920,0:52:36.079
old one that i i kind of stumbled upon
0:52:33.920,0:52:39.119
on amazon prime
0:52:36.079,0:52:41.440
this was made back in 2004.
0:52:39.119,0:52:43.520
uh it was a single season but they did a
0:52:41.440,0:52:45.200
herculean effort with 27
0:52:43.520,0:52:46.960
episodes in a single season you know
0:52:45.200,0:52:48.559
it’s back in the old days when
0:52:46.960,0:52:51.280
you got more than five episodes of
0:52:48.559,0:52:54.079
something per season
0:52:51.280,0:52:55.760
um so flying through time with flying
0:52:54.079,0:52:57.359
through time you can discover the
0:52:55.760,0:53:01.040
excitement of flying
0:52:57.359,0:53:03.680
as we re uh revel reveal the most
0:53:01.040,0:53:05.760
remarkable aircraft ever built
0:53:03.680,0:53:08.319
and the aeronautical achievements that
0:53:05.760,0:53:10.559
shaped aviation history
0:53:08.319,0:53:12.559
audiences will be fascinated with
0:53:10.559,0:53:14.960
educational portraits on
0:53:12.559,0:53:17.200
the history of airships warplanes and
0:53:14.960,0:53:19.520
luxury jetliners
0:53:17.200,0:53:20.720
flying through time is this wonderful
0:53:19.520,0:53:22.319
series all about
0:53:20.720,0:53:23.599
airplanes and what i thought was
0:53:22.319,0:53:25.280
interesting about it first of all it’s
0:53:23.599,0:53:29.200
kind of quaint
0:53:25.280,0:53:31.040
uh to watch it and see some of the uh
0:53:29.200,0:53:32.640
effect visual effects that they do
0:53:31.040,0:53:34.079
because it’s a it’s a you could tell
0:53:32.640,0:53:38.000
it’s a low budget
0:53:34.079,0:53:39.119
production okay but it’s incredibly
0:53:38.000,0:53:41.119
informative it’s
0:53:39.119,0:53:43.200
what what they’re lacking in visual
0:53:41.119,0:53:44.319
effects and production value they more
0:53:43.200,0:53:47.920
than make up for
0:53:44.319,0:53:51.680
in historical and factual information
0:53:47.920,0:53:53.760
okay and it’s one of these shows that
0:53:51.680,0:53:56.000
they don’t just showcase military
0:53:53.760,0:53:57.839
aircraft or commercial it’s everything
0:53:56.000,0:53:59.760
and it’s not just aircraft so from
0:53:57.839,0:54:03.119
episode to episode
0:53:59.760,0:54:04.880
you’ll get aircraft carriers and
0:54:03.119,0:54:06.160
airplanes associated with them and then
0:54:04.880,0:54:10.400
you’ll get
0:54:06.160,0:54:12.960
specific aircraft like the f-14 tomcat
0:54:10.400,0:54:14.000
you’ll get giant aircraft there’s a
0:54:12.960,0:54:16.800
two-part
0:54:14.000,0:54:19.280
episode about the boeing company and its
0:54:16.800,0:54:21.599
contributions to aviation
0:54:19.280,0:54:23.599
there’s an episode on vertical takeoff
0:54:21.599,0:54:26.720
vehicles there’s
0:54:23.599,0:54:28.480
the p-38 lightning there’s the century
0:54:26.720,0:54:30.559
fighters that came out then
0:54:28.480,0:54:31.520
you know the the 100 series of fighters
0:54:30.559,0:54:34.800
that came out in the
0:54:31.520,0:54:37.119
50s and 60s then you have a history of
0:54:34.800,0:54:39.359
commercial aviation it’s
0:54:37.119,0:54:40.799
they don’t limit themselves in the scope
0:54:39.359,0:54:43.119
and it’s literally the most
0:54:40.799,0:54:44.640
comprehensive history of flying that
0:54:43.119,0:54:47.280
i’ve ever seen
0:54:44.640,0:54:49.119
as far as engineering and the technology
0:54:47.280,0:54:50.720
behind it and the evolution of the
0:54:49.119,0:54:52.960
airplane
0:54:50.720,0:54:54.079
and every episode seems to be slightly
0:54:52.960,0:54:56.640
different than the other in the way they
0:54:54.079,0:54:59.920
presented so it’s a very well
0:54:56.640,0:55:01.760
uh produced and documented
0:54:59.920,0:55:03.920
um program one of the one of the better
0:55:01.760,0:55:05.359
flying ones that i’ve seen i’m i’m
0:55:03.920,0:55:07.760
probably two-thirds of the way through
0:55:05.359,0:55:10.160
it now and it’s one of those ones that
0:55:07.760,0:55:12.160
i when i put it on i can’t help it but
0:55:10.160,0:55:13.520
wanting to watch the next episode and
0:55:12.160,0:55:16.079
binging the whole thing i’ll watch four
0:55:13.520,0:55:19.920
or five episodes in a shot
0:55:16.079,0:55:21.520
so flying through time uh streaming now
0:55:19.920,0:55:24.480
on amazon prime
0:55:21.520,0:55:24.480
and we’ll be right back
0:55:26.930,0:55:30.960
[Applause]
0:55:28.799,0:55:32.720
so that was all we had for today which
0:55:30.960,0:55:35.200
was a lot more than i thought we had
0:55:32.720,0:55:36.799
see well it’s amazing when you asked me
0:55:35.200,0:55:38.640
to give my opinion on a movie that’s
0:55:36.799,0:55:40.720
really bad
0:55:38.640,0:55:41.839
somehow i just can’t help myself nope
0:55:40.720,0:55:44.240
but that’s okay
0:55:41.839,0:55:46.240
that’s what it’s all about exactly so
0:55:44.240,0:55:46.720
before we go i do want to encourage
