This week our Disney Detective looks at specific steps Disney is taking to protect the players of the NBA as they resume their truncated season at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports. Annual Passholders may be penalized for violating their terms of service by selling exclusive merchandise swept up in the wake of the news of Splash Mountain being re-themed. And breaking news about changes to the planned revisions of Disney’s EPCOT theme park as a result of the current COVID-19 situation.
Tales from the Edge of the Galaxy has news on a new spin off series from the Clone Wars centered on the “Bad Batch” that premiered in the final season of Clone Wars. Headed up by Dave Filoni we’ll see the Star Wars animated world live on after all. We’ll also look at speculation of who the ready made villain of a new Star Wars show slated to launch in Disney+ in the near future and lead by Leslye Headland, creator of the Netflix series Russian Doll.
In Entertainment News we’ll look at the news of Tom Holland currently being in talks with Disney for a six movie deal to keep the Spiderman franchise going strong. Finally we’ll look at a story about a very special young man who played hero to his sister by saving her from a vicious dog attack and the outpouring of support from fictional heroes in the entertainment world, not the least of which is Tony Stark himself Robert Downey Jr.
Of course we’ll wrap with a couple of great Insightful Picks of the Week.

- How the NBA and Disney Plan to Keep Players Safe and Entertained Inside the Disney Bubble
- https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/what-it-like-inside-nba-bubble-at-walt-disney-world-47618181?fbclid=IwAR0ID9B3UvVLfIvm4AF0NZ3XgAjjuk2AH8xRgZYbLi3MqM-glE884RbdfDY

- The NBA is back, and in the most unexpected crossover of all time, the teams will be finishing out their 2019-2020 season at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. Regular season games don’t resume until July 30, but players have already begun to arrive in Orlando to allow time for practice and to acclimate to their magical new environment, as well as the rigorous set of safety procedures to help ensure the integrity of the NBA “bubble” (though the league would prefer to call it a campus).
- Twenty-two teams will restart the season at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, which is massive enough to hold multiple games simultaneously. The complex also houses practice courts, though some practice areas are being set up inside the players’ hotels, and members of the Disney staff have been spotted wheeling in extra-large beds to ensure the athletes get a good night’s rest.
- Aside from more comfortable accommodations, the NBA and Disney have worked out a highly-detailed agreement on health protocols and entertainment options to ensure the NBA players stay safe and have fun both on and off the court. Here are nine ways they’re handling this unprecedented endeavor. If you’re loving this mashup as much as we are, follow the action at @nbabubblewatch on Instagram and @NBABubbleLife on Twitter.
- Players Have Their Own Disney Hotels
- Of the 22 teams, eight are staying at the Grand Floridian, eight more are at Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs, and six are staying at the Yacht Club. But don’t get your hopes up that you’ll be staying on the same floor as your favorite player. Regular Disney guests cannot stay at any of these resorts until teams are eliminated from the tournament and the NBA players move out. Based on each hotel’s reopening date, it appears winning teams will eventually move out of their current resorts and check in at Coronado Springs, which is closed through mid-October.
- They’ll Be Tested Daily For COVID-19
- There Are Tons of Safety Protocols
- Before heading off to meet Mickey, the NBA put together a comprehensive 113-page document outlining their health and safety protocols for the remainder of the season. It doesn’t exactly sound like a page-turner, but it does cover important things like social distancing and mask use. NBA players won’t be wearing masks or staying six feet apart during games or practices, but both of these are required in public spaces off the court.
- Cleaning Will Be Frequent and Thorough
- Family and Friends Can’t Visit . . . Yet
- For now, players, staff, and sports media are on their own within the NBA campus. Because 14 of the 22 teams will be sent home after the first round of playoffs, family members and other guests won’t be allowed to enter the campus until July 30, the day before the semifinals are scheduled to take place.
- Athletes Are Being Served Mickey Waffles (and a Lot More)
- They Can Pass the Time With Outdoor Activities
- And Indoor Activities, Too
- Players who prefer to stay out of the hot Florida sun can pass the time with ping pong, card games, video games, and even yet-to-be-released movies, all brought in by the NBA, according to Disney Food Blog. They can even visit Disney Springs to test out their 10-pin skills at Splitsville Luxury Bowling Lanes outside of regular hours.
- Athletes Get the Disney After-Hours Experience Of Our Dreams
- Most Disney fans would pay a pretty penny to visit the parks after closing time and hop on their favorite rides. According to the OC Register, NBA players staying on the Disney campus may be able to do just that. Along with their guests and league staff, players will have exclusive after-hours access to attractions at Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom. Considering they won’t be able to visit the parks during regular business hours (to keep other visitors safe), getting to hop on Expedition Everest or Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster with no wait is a pretty sweet perk.
- Annual Passes Could be Revoked for Selling Splash Mountain Merchandise
- https://insidethemagic.net/2020/07/splash-mountain-annual-pass-ro1/?fbclid=IwAR2DIhoom-pcPsLG8bFkgjlPOn301vzvW3iejXkLewIWDoSSYc5vfvmeTIY
- https://bit.ly/2ZIaI4u
- Since the news broke that Splash Mountain was set to be changed in both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom to be themed to The Princess and the Frog fans have been very quick to buy up all of the merchandise related to the attraction. While there is nothing wrong with this in theory, it became very apparent that many fans during AP preview day were simply buying many of the items in the store in bulk.
- Again, nothing wrong with this in theory, so long as these Annual Passholders also didn’t go on to resell these items. Why you may ask? Well, this clearly breaks the terms and conditions of the agreement Annual Passholders have with Disney:
- Benefits and discounts are for personal use only and may not be used for any commercial purpose including, without limitation, to obtain or purchase items or services with the intent to resell such items or services.
- Disney also states in the passholder contract:
- the company reserves the right to cancel, suspend or revoke any Passport or deny any Theme Park admission to any Passholder at any time for any reason.
- We’re hearing reports that Disney has already been revoking passes and is prepared to continue doing this if guests continue to break the rules.
- Of course, none of this would be an issue if shopDisney had a regular stock of these Splash Mountain items on the online store. The other issue is that Disney hasn’t announced a closing date for Splash Mountain as of yet, which has led to people buying up all of the stock with a fear that the attraction was closing soon.
- We think the likelihood of Splash Mountain closing before the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World in 2021 is very slim though it isn’t out of the realms of possibility given that attendance to the parks is likely to be limited for quite some time.
- BREAKING: Disney Announces Changes to World Celebration Plans for EPCOT, Multi-Level Festival Pavilion May Be Cancelled
- https://wdwnt.com/2020/07/breaking-disney-announces-changes-to-world-celebration-plans-for-epcot-multi-level-festival-pavilion-may-be-cancelled/?fbclid=IwAR24Sb-ePy1g2QkxquLl8ZEGid3HlHRwmBaC9cs_ejrAm_JbibniPTHFtsc
- https://bit.ly/3hbwFPa
- Today’s been a big day for Walt Disney World, not just because all four of their theme parks have finally reopened to the public, but because major plans are shifting for EPCOT as critical decisions are made for the park’s interrupted reimagining. So far, we’ve learned that the planned Spaceship Earth refurbishment, as well as the announced Mary Poppins-inspired attraction in World Showcase, have been officially postponed. Now, it seems another major project is also being reworked, namely the park’s new Festival Center, in “World Celebration”, part of the redesigned neighborhoods of the park.
- Initially, Disney Parks announced the new pavilion as a massive, three-level structure for various events and festivals:
- This new pavilion will be the perfect place for live events, and the home base for Epcot’s signature festivals. It will provide a stunning elevated view of the entire park and an ideal spot to witness Epcot’s nighttime spectacular. This beautiful three-level structure will have one of the most remarkable architectural designs at any Disney park, featuring a plaza level, a middle expo level, and a park that sits in the sky on the top level.
- Walt Disney World has announced that work will resume on the new neighborhood of World Celebration, which will bring new dining, retail, and entertainment to the center of the park. However, Disney has now stated that it will be taking a different approach to the previously-announced festival location.
- What exactly this “different approach” entails is unknown, but given decreased spending and lowered revenue as the parks begin the first phase of reopening, it may well be that the scale of the project will be downsized. It’s also worth noting that the maquette of the multi-story Festival Center has also been removed, among other elements from the Spaceship Earth: Our Shared Story and Cherry Tree Lane projects at the EPCOT Experience. Given the timing of these announcements, it’s unlikely that it was “just” to allow for social distancing within the already-expansive Odyssey pavilion.

- Disney+ Announces New ‘Star Wars’ Series Titled ‘The Bad Batch’: Here’s Everything We Know
- https://brobible.com/culture/article/disney-announces-star-wars-the-bad-batch/?fbclid=IwAR3vcj1ckCj5YLEAjkcARSkfHaQobMxfgenNnqv_-rRXSjqHvRDQZEwFCGw
- https://bit.ly/3hg3E4G
- Off the heels of wrapping up The Clone Wars on Disney+, the Mouse House’s new shiny streaming service is heading back into business with Lucasfilm Animation for yet another animated Star Wars series: The Bad Batch.
- According to Disney, the series will follow the experimental clone group The Bad Batch, who were first introduced in the beloved animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.
- The crew, which was established in The Clone Wars, are a “unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army” due to the fact that each member possesses an exceptional skill which makes them “extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.” The series will follow The Bad Batch as they “take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose” in the post-Clone War galaxy.
- Clone Wars architect and The Mandalorian EP and director Dave Filoni will return for Bad Batch as EP, alongside Athena Portillo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance) and Jennifer Corbett (Star Wars Resistance, NCIS) with Carrie Beck (The Mandalorian, Star Wars Rebels) as co-executive producer and Josh Rimes as producer (Star Wars Resistance). Rau is also serving as supervising director with Corbett as head writer. [via Deadline]
- In a statement, Agnes Chu, the Senior Vice President of Content at Disney+, said “giving new and existing fans the final chapter of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series.”
- At this time, The Bad Batch is set to his Disney+ sometime in 2021.
- THIS LEGENDARY SITH WARLOCK COULD BE THE VILLAIN OF THE NEXT STAR WARS SHOW

- The Star Wars universe is growing every day. While Disney made the Extended Universe non-canon after it acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, the new content is catching up quickly. Between The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, and the still-untitled Obi-Wan show, there’s a whole lot of Star Wars TV to look forward to on Disney+. There’s still a need for expansion, however. Could the next Star Wars series be from an even longer time ago in a galaxy far away?
- It’s practically ingrained in every Star Wars fan’s brain by now: “Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?” This story, told to Anakin by Senator Palpatine at the Mon Calamari Ballet, provides not only a backstory for Palpatine, but also plants the seeds of his return, decades in the future.
- It’s now becoming abundantly clear there’s a third use for this lore dump: by establishing a Sith Master for Darth Sidious, the Star Wars canon now has a built-in villain ready to go should there ever be a pre-prequel. That could come sooner than we think, Disney announced Leslye Headland, creator of Netflix series Russian Doll, will lead a Star Wars series for its streaming platform. We only got two clues about that show: first, it will be female-led, and second, it will take place during a time untouched by other Star Wars films and series.
- That eliminates a significant stretch of time, but if it takes place in the years building up to The Phantom Menace, there could be an opportunity to flesh out the Republic-Era world of the Sith using Darth Plagueis as its main villain, a pure-bred aristocratic Sith Lord trying to conquer death itself.
- In the non-canon works, Darth Plagueis, a Muun, worked in commerce. Like Sheev, he had a public-facing alter-ego, Hego Damask III of Damask Holdings. This makes him a natural fit for a TV series villain — “rich businessman who wants to foil some plucky young kid’s dream” is a tried and true structure. At the same time, this could sow seeds and build rich depth behind the eventual rise of Palpatine as Plagueis’s apprentice, retroactively making the prequels a more interesting watch, which many fans will appreciate.
- The joy of the prequels is in the dramatic irony: we know Anakin will become Darth Vader, so spotting the signs leading to that is interesting to watch. A new prequel detailing Darth Plagueis and his search for immortality would strike that same chord, as Palpatine says to Anakin: “His apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.”

- Tom Holland ‘In Talks’ With Disney Over A Six Movie Spider-Man Deal
- https://www.ladbible.com/news/tv-and-film-tom-holland-in-talks-for-six-marvel-movie-deal-20200714?fbclid=IwAR3tWeaftlIWRTbnIyKvyAMqFpvGCxwif6jyPyaXT4coft64X8_a0CSqHPw
- https://bit.ly/3eIaH4L
- Tom Holland is in talks with Disney and Sony over a six-movie deal, We Got This Covered reports.
- Sources close to the saga have claimed that producers and film bosses are really keen to keep the 24-year-old on and are making him a big offer.
- According to reports, Disney is offering Holland three standalone movies following Spider-Man 3 as well as three further films outside of the Spider-Man saga.
- We Got This Covered’s source has claimed that people involved with the studio revealed that Disney wants to tell Peter Parker’s whole story, from his time at high school right through to his adult life.
- But according to Holland, things could have been so very, very different if he hadn’t had one phone call… one very drunk phone call with Disney boss Bob Iger.
- Despite a lengthy dispute between Disney subsidiary Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures over who would have the ongoing rights to the web-slinging superhero, an accord was eventually reached that allowed Spidey to feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he had been doing previously
- Although it isn’t clear whether Holland’s drunken emotional input had anything to do with the outcome of the argument, it’s certainly possible, right?
- Speaking on Wednesday’s edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Holland explained how he had asked for the Disney CEO’s number in order to thank him for the opportunity to take the role, but ended up on the line with him instead.
- Holland told Kimmel: “I got his email, I sent him the email, and he responded very quickly saying, ‘I’d love to jump on the phone with you at some point – when are you free?’
- “AnNow, in this instance, ‘whenever’ happened to occur while Holland was at a pub quiz and, crucially, three pints deep.
- He’s not a big lad either, is he?
- The actor continued: “I get a phone call from an unknown number, and I have a feeling like, ‘I think this is Bob Iger… but I’m drunk.'”
- During the call, Holland said that he became somewhat weepy and emotional, not least because he was p***ed, but also because everything ‘felt like it was all coming to an end’.
- But fortunately for fans, it wasn’t, and it looks as though there is plenty more Spidey to come.d you don’t give Bob Iger a schedule. You’re like, ‘Whenever, Bob!'”
- Robert Downey Jr. Makes an Iron Man Promise to Hero Boy Who Saved Sister from Dog Attack

- Robert Downey Jr. has joined some of his fellow Avengers to pay tribute to 6-year old real-life hero Bridger Walker. The child has been in the news quite a bit lately after he saved his 4-year old sister from a dog attack. He jumped in front of her as the dog latched on to his face, which resulted in 90 stitches, a black, eye, and a lot of pain. His aunt, Nikki Walker took some time to share Bridger’s story with the world and tagged some of the biggest superheroes on the planet, hoping to get just one response.
- However, Bridger Walker’s heroism has seen not just one, but multiple superheroes reach out to pay tribute. Chris Evans sent a video in character and promised to send the boy a real Captain America shield. Never one to be outdone, Robert Downey Jr. has now gotten in on the fun and it looks like he’s attempting to one-up Evans. He already gets bonus points for rocking the Van Halen 5150 t-shirt. You can read his message to Bridger below.
- “Bridger, you’re a rock star. My name’s Robert Downey Jr., I play ‘Tony,’ that makes me an old friend of Cap’s. I heard he sent a shield your way: I’m going to do one better. You call me on your next birthday, I got something special for you. ‘Late. By the way – that’s a promise; a promise beats a shield.”
- The Iron Man promise should be pretty special, but we’re going to have to wait and see what exactly that means for Bridger Walker. In addition to Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo also sent Bridger a message. “People who put the well beings of others in front of themselves are the most heroic and thoughtful people I know,” Ruffalo said. “I truly respect and admire your courage and your heart.” When asked why he chose to protect his sister from the dog, Bridger said, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.”
- Thor star Chris Hemsworth recently sent a message out to Bridger Walker too. “He did something that not a lot of people would do, he stood between the dog and his sister and took the full attack on himself,” said Hemsworth in his video message. “He received some pretty serious injuries to his head and his face, but afterwards, took his sister’s hand and brought her to safety.”
- Captain Marvel star Brie Larson reached out and said that she would be direct messaging Bridger.
- Bridger Walker is the kind of hero 2020 deserves. The news has been pretty dark over the last several months, but the 6-year old’s bravery, and the response to it, has been something that a lot of people needed to see. Bridger is a reminder that the future is bright for real-life heroes. Hopefully he’ll reveal what Robert Downey Jr.’s promise was in the next few months. You can see Robert Downey Jr.’s promise to Bridger Walker above, thanks to Nikke Walker’s Instagram account.
- The young boy also caught Anne Hathaway’s attention.
- “I’m not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one,” Hathaway wrote on Instagram alongside photos of Bridger and his sister. “I can only hope I’m half as brave in my life as you are in yours, Bridger. Wishing you an easeful recovery, and many cool looking rocks. Hey @markruffalo, do you need a teammate??”

- In bringing Frozen 2 to the screen, the creative team at Walt Disney Animation Studios only had to contend with fiery forests and stormy seas of the animated variety, but the film’s final year of production was a thrilling adventure, as fans will discover in Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2. The film, of course, had the ultimate “happily-ever-after,” and went on to become the No. 1 animated feature of all time, but the six-episode docuseries—debuting this Friday, June 26, on Disney+—takes viewers on an incredible, emotional behind-the-scenes journey, with stops inside the walls of Disney Animation’s Burbank headquarters, the Lopezes’ Brooklyn, New York, apartment, California for D23 Expo 2019 in Anaheim, and the film’s first audience preview in San Diego.

saved his sister from a dog attack
0:02:45.840,0:02:50.239
and then we’ll finish up with our
0:02:48.319,0:02:51.040
insightful pics of the week i see you’ve
0:02:50.239,0:02:53.680
uh
0:02:51.040,0:02:55.440
cut yours down a bit here so i won’t be
0:02:53.680,0:02:56.239
too overshadowed this week like i was
0:02:55.440,0:02:58.879
last week
0:02:56.239,0:03:00.959
oh my gosh hey it’s not every week you
0:02:58.879,0:03:03.280
get to do hamilton as a pick okay
0:03:00.959,0:03:04.159
you could do hamilton as a pick i
0:03:03.280,0:03:08.080
couldn’t because you
0:03:04.159,0:03:10.480
took it first there’s no law that says
0:03:08.080,0:03:12.000
you know if i do something you can’t do
0:03:10.480,0:03:15.120
it even though you took
0:03:12.000,0:03:17.040
like five things of mine
0:03:15.120,0:03:18.959
but we won’t get into that now too
0:03:17.040,0:03:20.480
bitter are we no never
0:03:18.959,0:03:24.080
all right are we ready to get into it
0:03:20.480,0:03:24.080
sure all right let’s do it
0:03:26.540,0:03:32.159
[Applause]
0:03:28.239,0:03:35.680
go for disney detective so the nba
0:03:32.159,0:03:37.360
is back and obviously uh as we’ve
0:03:35.680,0:03:42.159
mentioned they’re finishing their
0:03:37.360,0:03:44.640
uh 2019 2020 season at walt disney world
0:03:42.159,0:03:47.040
um the games actually won’t resume until
0:03:44.640,0:03:47.519
july 30th but the players have already
0:03:47.040,0:03:50.080
arrived
0:03:47.519,0:03:51.519
you know started arriving in orlando
0:03:50.080,0:03:53.120
having time to practice
0:03:51.519,0:03:55.519
and basically making sure that
0:03:53.120,0:03:58.720
everything is kind of secure in their
0:03:55.519,0:03:59.280
bubble um 20 teams will restart the
0:03:58.720,0:04:02.239
season
0:03:59.280,0:04:03.280
at disney’s espn’s wide world of sports
0:04:02.239,0:04:06.879
complex
0:04:03.280,0:04:09.519
which is a massive sports complex that
0:04:06.879,0:04:13.519
we’ve you know talked about many times
0:04:09.519,0:04:14.159
we’ve had the the pleasure of being
0:04:13.519,0:04:16.959
there
0:04:14.159,0:04:17.919
during um two different marathon
0:04:16.959,0:04:21.359
weekends
0:04:17.919,0:04:23.199
um so you know we totally
0:04:21.359,0:04:25.360
thought that this was a good plan
0:04:23.199,0:04:26.000
because they have just you know so much
0:04:25.360,0:04:29.280
room
0:04:26.000,0:04:32.240
so obviously besides you know the
0:04:29.280,0:04:32.720
comfortable accommodations um you know
0:04:32.240,0:04:34.960
there’s
0:04:32.720,0:04:35.919
a lot of health protocols and things
0:04:34.960,0:04:38.080
going on
0:04:35.919,0:04:39.199
um and what’s interesting is there’s
0:04:38.080,0:04:42.080
actually
0:04:39.199,0:04:43.199
um an instagram page where you can
0:04:42.080,0:04:46.560
follow
0:04:43.199,0:04:50.080
the the nba through this called nba
0:04:46.560,0:04:53.040
bubble watch and then on twitter it’s
0:04:50.080,0:04:54.479
nba bubble life so they’re tweeting and
0:04:53.040,0:04:56.960
doing instagram
0:04:54.479,0:04:57.520
you know showing how their their life is
0:04:56.960,0:05:00.320
in
0:04:57.520,0:05:00.960
quarantine really um you know during
0:05:00.320,0:05:04.160
this
0:05:00.960,0:05:07.440
um so players actually have their own
0:05:04.160,0:05:09.680
hotels so there’s the 22 teams
0:05:07.440,0:05:10.720
and eight teams are staying at the grand
0:05:09.680,0:05:14.560
floridian
0:05:10.720,0:05:14.880
eight are at the uh coronado springs the
0:05:14.560,0:05:17.600
new
0:05:14.880,0:05:18.560
tower um and six are staying at the
0:05:17.600,0:05:21.440
yacht club
0:05:18.560,0:05:22.720
um don’t think that you know they’re
0:05:21.440,0:05:25.039
mingling because
0:05:22.720,0:05:25.840
at this point those resorts are all
0:05:25.039,0:05:28.000
closed
0:05:25.840,0:05:28.960
to other guests so the only people
0:05:28.000,0:05:31.600
staying
0:05:28.960,0:05:34.000
at those specific resorts are nba
0:05:31.600,0:05:37.120
players or anybody associated
0:05:34.000,0:05:40.000
you know with the nba at this time
0:05:37.120,0:05:40.960
um so they’re being tested daily for
0:05:40.000,0:05:43.520
covid
0:05:40.960,0:05:45.759
um there’s tons of safety protocols that
0:05:43.520,0:05:46.720
are in place there was a 113 page
0:05:45.759,0:05:49.039
document
0:05:46.720,0:05:50.479
outlining all their you know safety
0:05:49.039,0:05:53.440
protocols
0:05:50.479,0:05:54.560
cleaning is being done constantly you
0:05:53.440,0:05:56.560
know
0:05:54.560,0:05:58.000
where they’re playing the rooms and
0:05:56.560,0:06:00.000
things like that
0:05:58.000,0:06:01.520
um family and friends actually can’t
0:06:00.000,0:06:04.800
visit just yet
0:06:01.520,0:06:07.280
um so because 14 of the 22 teams will be
0:06:04.800,0:06:08.240
sent home after the first round of
0:06:07.280,0:06:10.000
playoffs
0:06:08.240,0:06:11.520
family members and other guests won’t be
0:06:10.000,0:06:15.199
allowed to enter the campus
0:06:11.520,0:06:16.720
until july 30th the day before the
0:06:15.199,0:06:19.840
semi-finals are actually
0:06:16.720,0:06:20.560
supposed to take place i know there were
0:06:19.840,0:06:23.039
a couple of
0:06:20.560,0:06:24.560
uh photos going around of uh because
0:06:23.039,0:06:26.560
they’re getting room service
0:06:24.560,0:06:27.759
you know for for their meals because
0:06:26.560,0:06:29.680
they’re not you know
0:06:27.759,0:06:32.160
sitting with other people and there’s
0:06:29.680,0:06:34.000
like all these photos of mickey waffles
0:06:32.160,0:06:35.280
all over the place so that was kind of
0:06:34.000,0:06:38.160
cute um
0:06:35.280,0:06:38.479
they are t uh allowed to do certain in
0:06:38.160,0:06:40.639
uh
0:06:38.479,0:06:43.199
outdoor activities so they’re able to
0:06:40.639,0:06:45.919
rent the boats and go off fishing
0:06:43.199,0:06:46.560
and things basically staying away from
0:06:45.919,0:06:50.240
um
0:06:46.560,0:06:52.639
you know everybody um they have been
0:06:50.240,0:06:54.240
uh able to do some indoor activity so
0:06:52.639,0:06:57.199
they were actually able
0:06:54.240,0:06:59.360
uh to go play bowling at splitsville
0:06:57.199,0:07:01.759
during like an after hours
0:06:59.360,0:07:02.639
uh thing so it was just closed off for
0:07:01.759,0:07:06.080
for them
0:07:02.639,0:07:09.280
and they have been able to do after hour
0:07:06.080,0:07:09.919
experiences at the parks so the parks
0:07:09.280,0:07:11.919
are in
0:07:09.919,0:07:14.319
uh some of the parks just started
0:07:11.919,0:07:16.479
opening uh some weren’t open
0:07:14.319,0:07:17.599
at all until just recently so they’ve
0:07:16.479,0:07:20.000
even been able to do
0:07:17.599,0:07:21.199
after hour events you know to go and
0:07:20.000,0:07:23.919
ride some rides
0:07:21.199,0:07:24.720
uh after hours so kind of cool you know
0:07:23.919,0:07:27.120
if
0:07:24.720,0:07:27.919
if uh you know you’re down there you
0:07:27.120,0:07:30.319
might as well
0:07:27.919,0:07:32.080
you know take it in you know while you
0:07:30.319,0:07:33.759
can but it would be interesting to
0:07:32.080,0:07:35.759
to start you know reading the twitter
0:07:33.759,0:07:38.080
feeds and see you know
0:07:35.759,0:07:40.000
what it’s like being in quarantine in in
0:07:38.080,0:07:41.360
walt disney world yeah
0:07:40.000,0:07:43.199
it’s interesting i mean some of the
0:07:41.360,0:07:45.120
restrictions that they’re under it’s
0:07:43.199,0:07:47.440
almost like
0:07:45.120,0:07:48.560
prison league yeah really can’t do this
0:07:47.440,0:07:51.039
you can’t do that
0:07:48.560,0:07:52.319
yeah yeah your family can’t be there
0:07:51.039,0:07:55.280
with you right now yeah
0:07:52.319,0:07:57.440
yeah um so it’s got to be uh a difficult
0:07:55.280,0:07:59.199
situation for the players to be in
0:07:57.440,0:08:01.280
oh i’m sure not only are you completely
0:07:59.199,0:08:02.160
changing up the typical routine that you
0:08:01.280,0:08:05.039
have
0:08:02.160,0:08:06.080
but they have to have some restrictions
0:08:05.039,0:08:07.919
on
0:08:06.080,0:08:09.520
practicing and using facilities because
0:08:07.919,0:08:10.560
they’ve got 22 teams down there right
0:08:09.520,0:08:13.840
now right right
0:08:10.560,0:08:15.440
and as large as why world of sports is
0:08:13.840,0:08:17.599
i don’t think they’ve got the real
0:08:15.440,0:08:18.720
estate to handle 22 team summer
0:08:17.599,0:08:20.639
continuously working
0:08:18.720,0:08:23.039
right and i’m guessing they probably
0:08:20.639,0:08:24.400
stagger you know like you practice from
0:08:23.039,0:08:26.080
this time to this time and then you
0:08:24.400,0:08:28.080
practice from this time to this time
0:08:26.080,0:08:29.840
you know so they’re probably breaking it
0:08:28.080,0:08:31.680
up you know throughout
0:08:29.840,0:08:33.839
you know the day so some teams are
0:08:31.680,0:08:37.120
probably seeing others you know
0:08:33.839,0:08:40.080
in passing really you know um so
0:08:37.120,0:08:41.919
again it it i want to you know i haven’t
0:08:40.080,0:08:43.839
started following them yet on on twitter
0:08:41.919,0:08:46.000
or instagram but i think i might just to
0:08:43.839,0:08:47.760
just kind of see so now the game’s going
0:08:46.000,0:08:48.800
to be pre-recorded they’re going to be
0:08:47.760,0:08:50.720
broadcasting um
0:08:48.800,0:08:52.160
i don’t know i haven’t i haven’t seen
0:08:50.720,0:08:56.399
anything about the
0:08:52.160,0:08:58.480
the actual uh games yet interesting
0:08:56.399,0:08:59.839
well hopefully everyone stays safe down
0:08:58.480,0:09:01.600
there you got a lot of people down there
0:08:59.839,0:09:05.120
now with the parks opening up now
0:09:01.600,0:09:07.600
so kudos to disney for
0:09:05.120,0:09:10.320
for juggling the efforts needed yeah to
0:09:07.600,0:09:12.560
bring us back to people
0:09:10.320,0:09:14.800
so tell us about annual pass holders
0:09:12.560,0:09:16.800
getting uh burned selling merchandise
0:09:14.800,0:09:18.480
so since the news broke that splash
0:09:16.800,0:09:21.279
mountain was said to be changed
0:09:18.480,0:09:22.320
uh at both disneyland and magic kingdom
0:09:21.279,0:09:25.040
to be themed
0:09:22.320,0:09:26.560
to princess and the frogs fans have been
0:09:25.040,0:09:28.880
quick to buy up
0:09:26.560,0:09:29.760
any and all merchandise related to the
0:09:28.880,0:09:31.440
attraction
0:09:29.760,0:09:33.600
while there’s nothing wrong with this in
0:09:31.440,0:09:36.720
theory it became very apparent
0:09:33.600,0:09:38.640
that many fans were using the annual
0:09:36.720,0:09:41.279
pass holder preview day
0:09:38.640,0:09:42.880
simply to buy merchandise in the store
0:09:41.279,0:09:44.480
and that was a couple of pictures that
0:09:42.880,0:09:48.959
were going around
0:09:44.480,0:09:51.200
on facebook and social media of you know
0:09:48.959,0:09:52.720
people that were at the park carrying
0:09:51.200,0:09:55.440
bags and bags
0:09:52.720,0:09:55.920
of merchandise and you know it had to be
0:09:55.440,0:09:59.600
you know
0:09:55.920,0:10:02.240
from splash mountain so again nothing
0:09:59.600,0:10:04.000
wrong with it as long as they didn’t
0:10:02.240,0:10:06.480
that they’re not going and reselling
0:10:04.000,0:10:08.079
the items which of course you know that
0:10:06.480,0:10:08.959
they are because there’s nobody that
0:10:08.079,0:10:12.240
needs
0:10:08.959,0:10:15.200
you know ten stuffed animals of
0:10:12.240,0:10:15.839
of rare rabbit um so why is this an
0:10:15.200,0:10:19.200
issue
0:10:15.839,0:10:22.720
well there’s a condition of agreement
0:10:19.200,0:10:23.440
when you get an annual pass from disney
0:10:22.720,0:10:25.920
and it says
0:10:23.440,0:10:27.120
benefits and discounts are for personal
0:10:25.920,0:10:29.760
use only and
0:10:27.120,0:10:31.200
may not be used for any commercial
0:10:29.760,0:10:33.680
purpose including
0:10:31.200,0:10:34.880
without limitation to obtaining or
0:10:33.680,0:10:37.839
purchase items
0:10:34.880,0:10:40.560
or services with the intent to resell
0:10:37.839,0:10:42.880
such items or services
0:10:40.560,0:10:45.120
and disney also says that the company
0:10:42.880,0:10:47.839
reserves the right to cancel suspend
0:10:45.120,0:10:49.040
or revoke any pass holder or deny theme
0:10:47.839,0:10:51.839
park admission
0:10:49.040,0:10:52.720
to any pass holder at any time for any
0:10:51.839,0:10:55.680
reason
0:10:52.720,0:10:57.680
now this was something that disneyland
0:10:55.680,0:11:01.440
actually started
0:10:57.680,0:11:05.200
cracking down on a couple of months back
0:11:01.440,0:11:08.480
where they were starting to actually
0:11:05.200,0:11:09.360
revoke pass holders privileges to to go
0:11:08.480,0:11:12.720
into the park
0:11:09.360,0:11:14.959
because they were going in buying loads
0:11:12.720,0:11:17.279
of merchandise and obviously
0:11:14.959,0:11:20.480
going and selling it on ebay or what
0:11:17.279,0:11:23.360
night so now we hear that disney world
0:11:20.480,0:11:25.120
is starting to to do that and they have
0:11:23.360,0:11:28.240
actually started to
0:11:25.120,0:11:30.480
uh revoke some some annual pass holders
0:11:28.240,0:11:31.440
for it so well this is hardly the first
0:11:30.480,0:11:33.600
time
0:11:31.440,0:11:36.399
pass holders have used that privilege oh
0:11:33.600,0:11:38.240
absolutely to sell things i mean you see
0:11:36.399,0:11:39.600
pass holder exclusive merchandise on
0:11:38.240,0:11:41.519
here constantly
0:11:39.600,0:11:43.360
absolutely and and there’s there’s
0:11:41.519,0:11:46.399
various online
0:11:43.360,0:11:49.200
you know shopping uh
0:11:46.399,0:11:49.760
fairies you know and and i’ve used them
0:11:49.200,0:11:52.720
before
0:11:49.760,0:11:54.639
too and and obviously they’re annual
0:11:52.720,0:11:56.160
pass holders because they live down
0:11:54.639,0:11:58.240
there they’re going
0:11:56.160,0:11:59.279
multiple times a day to go purchase
0:11:58.240,0:12:02.240
things
0:11:59.279,0:12:04.399
you know for other people so my question
0:12:02.240,0:12:06.959
is what’s disney’s motivation here
0:12:04.399,0:12:08.639
why do they not want people reselling
0:12:06.959,0:12:09.200
because disney’s made their money off of
0:12:08.639,0:12:11.279
this but
0:12:09.200,0:12:13.040
selling it in the first league right why
0:12:11.279,0:12:16.079
do they not want
0:12:13.040,0:12:16.560
pass holders reselling this and it is it
0:12:16.079,0:12:18.000
just
0:12:16.560,0:12:20.320
splash mountain that they’re cracking
0:12:18.000,0:12:23.680
down well i think that this was the
0:12:20.320,0:12:26.160
the the the soonest one
0:12:23.680,0:12:26.959
that kind of sparked it because that’s
0:12:26.160,0:12:29.360
the thing is
0:12:26.959,0:12:30.240
you know anytime there’s something new
0:12:29.360,0:12:33.600
that comes out
0:12:30.240,0:12:34.240
there’s always a mad rush to to purchase
0:12:33.600,0:12:36.320
them
0:12:34.240,0:12:38.560
um you know the popcorn tins as a
0:12:36.320,0:12:40.720
perfect example have now become
0:12:38.560,0:12:42.160
this you know the same thing happened
0:12:40.720,0:12:43.680
when galaxy’s edge open
0:12:42.160,0:12:46.160
oh yeah and they were stealing the
0:12:43.680,0:12:48.000
silverware oh well that and selling it
0:12:46.160,0:12:49.680
and then what was disney’s response to
0:12:48.000,0:12:51.440
that they got rid of it they got rid of
0:12:49.680,0:12:52.079
it and then they brought it back to sell
0:12:51.440,0:12:53.760
it
0:12:52.079,0:12:56.160
right right you could buy because they
0:12:53.760,0:12:59.680
were like oh we can make money
0:12:56.160,0:13:01.279
so i guess my question here is
0:12:59.680,0:13:02.800
you know disney made their money off of
0:13:01.279,0:13:04.160
this merchandise they’re trying to get
0:13:02.800,0:13:05.279
rid of it because they’re changing the
0:13:04.160,0:13:08.320
theming of splash
0:13:05.279,0:13:11.040
and that’s the thing is right now they
0:13:08.320,0:13:13.040
don’t seem to be
0:13:11.040,0:13:14.399
hard up you know it’s like it’s not like
0:13:13.040,0:13:15.920
the stuff is on clearance
0:13:14.399,0:13:17.680
and they’re not gonna get rid of it they
0:13:15.920,0:13:20.800
know people
0:13:17.680,0:13:23.839
you know are gonna buy it so
0:13:20.800,0:13:27.440
why have somebody go and buy out
0:13:23.839,0:13:28.800
the stock you know when somebody else
0:13:27.440,0:13:31.519
might wanna
0:13:28.800,0:13:35.519
you know like i could see them instead
0:13:31.519,0:13:37.519
of revoking somebody’s privilege
0:13:35.519,0:13:38.959
just make it that you could only buy you
0:13:37.519,0:13:40.720
know two of each item
0:13:38.959,0:13:42.480
yeah i mean you limit how many you can
0:13:40.720,0:13:44.480
buy that’s what they should really do
0:13:42.480,0:13:46.399
don’t you know revoke their their
0:13:44.480,0:13:48.720
privilege don’t allow them to
0:13:46.399,0:13:50.320
overstep their bounds anyway right now
0:13:48.720,0:13:51.360
you can’t buy more than two packs of
0:13:50.320,0:13:53.680
toilet paper
0:13:51.360,0:13:55.040
you know in a store because of
0:13:53.680,0:13:57.360
everything going on
0:13:55.040,0:13:59.440
so then don’t allow them and that’s the
0:13:57.360,0:14:01.519
thing is there are certain things
0:13:59.440,0:14:02.639
when disney comes out with them that
0:14:01.519,0:14:04.639
they do put
0:14:02.639,0:14:06.000
limits on where they do say you can only
0:14:04.639,0:14:08.720
buy you know two
0:14:06.000,0:14:10.000
or or at some point ten you know like
0:14:08.720,0:14:13.440
why does anybody need
0:14:10.000,0:14:15.360
ten of anything well and you know
0:14:13.440,0:14:16.800
again i asked my question why does
0:14:15.360,0:14:19.199
disney care
0:14:16.800,0:14:20.720
i buy something for ten dollars i take
0:14:19.199,0:14:22.160
it home and i sell it for twelve dollars
0:14:20.720,0:14:23.760
on ebay
0:14:22.160,0:14:25.680
why does disney care they made their
0:14:23.760,0:14:28.639
money off of it well and and i don’t
0:14:25.680,0:14:30.000
think that’s the you know i guess that’s
0:14:28.639,0:14:33.040
part of the part that they
0:14:30.000,0:14:36.079
care about but well they clearly
0:14:33.040,0:14:38.880
don’t clear they they don’t care
0:14:36.079,0:14:39.199
about me as a pass holder going in there
0:14:38.880,0:14:41.680
and
0:14:39.199,0:14:43.199
buying the stuff up and denying someone
0:14:41.680,0:14:44.480
else who’s a non-pass holder from
0:14:43.199,0:14:46.720
getting it right
0:14:44.480,0:14:48.079
because if they did they wouldn’t let me
0:14:46.720,0:14:50.000
buy so much
0:14:48.079,0:14:51.920
and if they did they wouldn’t give me
0:14:50.000,0:14:55.120
the exclusive right to buy it first
0:14:51.920,0:14:56.399
right so it’s not like they’re trying to
0:14:55.120,0:14:59.440
preserve a
0:14:56.399,0:15:00.959
better experience for other people it’s
0:14:59.440,0:15:03.760
really that disney doesn’t want people
0:15:00.959,0:15:05.680
making money off of their stuff
0:15:03.760,0:15:07.360
but once i buy it it’s mine i can do
0:15:05.680,0:15:10.639
whatever whatever i want with it
0:15:07.360,0:15:12.639
yes you can so i think this is just
0:15:10.639,0:15:14.160
disney being a little overly greedy here
0:15:12.639,0:15:16.959
okay
0:15:14.160,0:15:18.639
so that was all we had for our no we got
0:15:16.959,0:15:20.880
one more did they miss one
0:15:18.639,0:15:22.480
oh we did i’m sorry i scrolled too far
0:15:20.880,0:15:23.120
sorry i’m a little head on the notes
0:15:22.480,0:15:25.279
here
0:15:23.120,0:15:27.199
okay so tell us about this last one that
0:15:25.279,0:15:29.519
we have here that i tried to avoid
0:15:27.199,0:15:32.000
so disney has announced changes uh to
0:15:29.519,0:15:34.560
the world celebration plans for epcot
0:15:32.000,0:15:35.920
which was supposed to be a multi-level
0:15:34.560,0:15:38.560
festival pavilion
0:15:35.920,0:15:40.079
and now it might actually be cancelled
0:15:38.560,0:15:43.279
um so this week
0:15:40.079,0:15:44.880
we finally got epcot opened um and
0:15:43.279,0:15:47.600
hollywood studios so now
0:15:44.880,0:15:48.160
all of the four parks down in orlando
0:15:47.600,0:15:50.720
you know
0:15:48.160,0:15:52.240
are open um but there have been you know
0:15:50.720,0:15:55.279
some changes that have
0:15:52.240,0:15:57.519
have kind of happened because of the
0:15:55.279,0:15:59.839
closures and things like that
0:15:57.519,0:16:00.959
so spaceship earth was actually supposed
0:15:59.839,0:16:03.440
to close for
0:16:00.959,0:16:05.360
refurbishment and then they had also
0:16:03.440,0:16:08.399
announced that there was going to be
0:16:05.360,0:16:09.680
a mary poppins attraction but now both
0:16:08.399,0:16:12.560
of them have actually
0:16:09.680,0:16:13.839
officially been postponed the other
0:16:12.560,0:16:16.720
thing
0:16:13.839,0:16:20.320
is the the new festival center in the
0:16:16.720,0:16:23.120
world celebration part of the redesigned
0:16:20.320,0:16:25.120
neighborhoods of the park so initially
0:16:23.120,0:16:26.320
disney announced that the new pavilion
0:16:25.120,0:16:29.360
as this massive
0:16:26.320,0:16:29.600
three-level structure for various events
0:16:29.360,0:16:32.880
and
0:16:29.600,0:16:34.160
and festivals so the new pavilion which
0:16:32.880,0:16:36.160
was going to be
0:16:34.160,0:16:38.560
the place for all the different live
0:16:36.160,0:16:41.839
events kind of the home base
0:16:38.560,0:16:43.519
for uh epcot signature festivals
0:16:41.839,0:16:46.560
it was gonna have you know this
0:16:43.519,0:16:48.320
elaborate view of of the park and this
0:16:46.560,0:16:51.920
three-tiered section
0:16:48.320,0:16:52.880
you know um was gonna be able to hold a
0:16:51.920,0:16:55.519
lot of people
0:16:52.880,0:16:56.480
as of right now they’ve basically put
0:16:55.519,0:16:58.560
that on hold
0:16:56.480,0:16:59.759
and that they’ve said that you know
0:16:58.560,0:17:03.040
disney now
0:16:59.759,0:17:05.919
is taking a different approach to it
0:17:03.040,0:17:09.039
what the different approach is nobody’s
0:17:05.919,0:17:12.240
heard anything it just kind of you know
0:17:09.039,0:17:15.280
put it on hold really so
0:17:12.240,0:17:17.520
now it’s just kind of a wait and see
0:17:15.280,0:17:19.439
there was an area where they kind of had
0:17:17.520,0:17:21.600
like a little preview section of all the
0:17:19.439,0:17:24.160
stuff that they were going to be
0:17:21.600,0:17:25.600
that was going to be coming to epcot and
0:17:24.160,0:17:27.360
since the parks reopened
0:17:25.600,0:17:30.080
some of those elements have actually
0:17:27.360,0:17:32.640
been removed from the preview so
0:17:30.080,0:17:34.640
is it something where it’s completely
0:17:32.640,0:17:37.039
off the board or is it just
0:17:34.640,0:17:38.240
you know a temporary thing for now so it
0:17:37.039,0:17:40.559
could just be that they’re
0:17:38.240,0:17:42.080
looking to redesign things in a
0:17:40.559,0:17:44.880
post-covered
0:17:42.080,0:17:45.520
you know theme park experience at this
0:17:44.880,0:17:47.600
point so
0:17:45.520,0:17:49.440
so is this a safety thing because the
0:17:47.600,0:17:51.120
original concept of the pavilion would
0:17:49.440,0:17:54.160
have had large groups of people
0:17:51.120,0:17:56.400
and that that probably could have been
0:17:54.160,0:17:57.840
been what it was so now they’re you know
0:17:56.400,0:17:59.840
they’re still
0:17:57.840,0:18:01.120
going along with a lot of the other
0:17:59.840,0:18:02.640
construction to make
0:18:01.120,0:18:04.160
you know because they were going to have
0:18:02.640,0:18:06.160
this big like grassy
0:18:04.160,0:18:07.600
area available and then there was going
0:18:06.160,0:18:10.880
to be this this
0:18:07.600,0:18:13.600
pavilion basically that was enclosed
0:18:10.880,0:18:14.000
so maybe they’re trying to come up with
0:18:13.600,0:18:16.880
ways
0:18:14.000,0:18:18.400
to still do it but do it in a a
0:18:16.880,0:18:20.799
different fashion so
0:18:18.400,0:18:22.400
interesting interesting well it’s it’s
0:18:20.799,0:18:23.200
kind of interesting to see the fact that
0:18:22.400,0:18:25.440
that
0:18:23.200,0:18:26.400
you know covet is having that kind of an
0:18:25.440,0:18:29.200
impact just a little
0:18:26.400,0:18:30.480
planning at disney at this point yeah uh
0:18:29.200,0:18:32.640
which kind of
0:18:30.480,0:18:35.039
little scary thinking the impact it’s
0:18:32.640,0:18:38.320
gonna have on the real world
0:18:35.039,0:18:39.679
outside of disney yeah so that was all
0:18:38.320,0:18:41.440
we had
0:18:39.679,0:18:43.919
was that all we have for disney to type
0:18:41.440,0:18:44.840
yes happy birthday disneyland
0:18:43.919,0:18:47.520
thanks for not opening
0:18:44.840,0:18:50.640
[Laughter]
0:18:47.520,0:18:54.840
all right uh we will take a quick break
0:18:50.640,0:18:57.230
we will come back with uh something star
0:18:54.840,0:19:02.469

0:18:57.230,0:19:02.469

go for tails from the edge of the galaxy
0:20:12.240,0:20:18.480
i’m very proud of you very proud of you
0:20:15.840,0:20:19.600
so disney plus has announced a new star
0:20:18.480,0:20:22.400
wars series
0:20:19.600,0:20:24.640
titled the bad batch and here’s
0:20:22.400,0:20:28.159
everything that we know about it so far
0:20:24.640,0:20:29.679
so obviously the clone wars just wrapped
0:20:28.159,0:20:32.080
up on disney plus
0:20:29.679,0:20:33.760
and now it seems that they have a new
0:20:32.080,0:20:36.480
animated series that’s
0:20:33.760,0:20:37.280
coming in right off of uh the heels of
0:20:36.480,0:20:39.679
that
0:20:37.280,0:20:42.320
so according to disney the series will
0:20:39.679,0:20:45.200
follow the experimental clone group
0:20:42.320,0:20:47.520
the bad batch who were first introduced
0:20:45.200,0:20:48.080
in the beloved animated series star wars
0:20:47.520,0:20:51.200
the clone
0:20:48.080,0:20:54.320
wars in the immediate aftermath
0:20:51.200,0:20:56.559
of the clone war so the crew which was
0:20:54.320,0:20:59.440
established in the clone wars
0:20:56.559,0:21:00.880
are a unique squad of clones who are
0:20:59.440,0:21:03.760
genetically
0:21:00.880,0:21:05.360
from their brothers in the clone army
0:21:03.760,0:21:06.240
due to the fact that each member
0:21:05.360,0:21:09.000
possesses an
0:21:06.240,0:21:10.799
exceptional skill with which makes them
0:21:09.000,0:21:14.159
extraordinarily effective
0:21:10.799,0:21:16.000
soldiers and a formative crew the series
0:21:14.159,0:21:18.480
will follow the bad batch as they
0:21:16.000,0:21:20.480
take on daring mercenary missions as
0:21:18.480,0:21:21.280
they struggle to stay afloat and find
0:21:20.480,0:21:24.880
new purpose
0:21:21.280,0:21:28.559
in a plo post-cloned war galaxy
0:21:24.880,0:21:31.600
um clone wars uh architect
0:21:28.559,0:21:32.799
and the mandalorian director dave filoni
0:21:31.600,0:21:36.159
will return
0:21:32.799,0:21:38.559
as the bad batch’s ep alongside uh
0:21:36.159,0:21:39.679
some other people that were part of star
0:21:38.559,0:21:43.600
wars rebel
0:21:39.679,0:21:46.799
star wars resistance um
0:21:43.600,0:21:47.679
you know whole cavalcade of various
0:21:46.799,0:21:49.440
writers who
0:21:47.679,0:21:51.360
you know have been in the star wars
0:21:49.440,0:21:54.159
family so it’s
0:21:51.360,0:21:55.760
not like it’s probably you know gonna be
0:21:54.159,0:21:58.880
a bad thing so
0:21:55.760,0:22:01.120
um so you know in a statement
0:21:58.880,0:22:02.320
uh the senior vice president of content
0:22:01.120,0:22:04.880
at disney plus
0:22:02.320,0:22:06.720
uh had said giving new and existing fans
0:22:04.880,0:22:07.520
their final chapter of star wars the
0:22:06.720,0:22:10.640
clone wars
0:22:07.520,0:22:12.080
has been an honor and we are overjoyed
0:22:10.640,0:22:14.640
by the global response
0:22:12.080,0:22:15.360
to the landmark series at this time the
0:22:14.640,0:22:18.960
bad batch
0:22:15.360,0:22:20.960
is scheduled uh for some time in 2021
0:22:18.960,0:22:22.159
on disney plus you know it’s funny
0:22:20.960,0:22:25.440
because this
0:22:22.159,0:22:26.000
kind of makes the first half of this
0:22:25.440,0:22:29.039
last season
0:22:26.000,0:22:31.520
of clone wars makes sense now okay
0:22:29.039,0:22:32.880
they introduced the bad batch early on
0:22:31.520,0:22:35.679
in the season
0:22:32.880,0:22:36.320
they were in for a few episodes it was a
0:22:35.679,0:22:41.120
unique
0:22:36.320,0:22:44.080
twist on okay and stuff like that but
0:22:41.120,0:22:45.440
had almost nothing to do with the
0:22:44.080,0:22:48.159
overarching plotline
0:22:45.440,0:22:49.600
of the last season so now it makes sense
0:22:48.159,0:22:51.120
so now it makes sense that they’re
0:22:49.600,0:22:53.440
getting their well
0:22:51.120,0:22:55.039
it makes sense that they showed up there
0:22:53.440,0:22:55.440
right so that they could get their own
0:22:55.039,0:22:57.360
spin
0:22:55.440,0:22:58.880
right right so now people aren’t going
0:22:57.360,0:22:59.520
who are these people we never saw them
0:22:58.880,0:23:03.120
before
0:22:59.520,0:23:05.039
right so this was a completely new
0:23:03.120,0:23:07.600
concept to clone wars when these guys
0:23:05.039,0:23:10.880
were introduced
0:23:07.600,0:23:11.760
and clearly they were literally just
0:23:10.880,0:23:14.480
introduced
0:23:11.760,0:23:15.440
so that they could do an offshoot of
0:23:14.480,0:23:17.919
them
0:23:15.440,0:23:18.799
um and you know i guess i’m okay with
0:23:17.919,0:23:23.280
that i don’t
0:23:18.799,0:23:26.400
like they didn’t play a vital role
0:23:23.280,0:23:28.720
and this is another example of
0:23:26.400,0:23:30.799
disney exploring a different angle of
0:23:28.720,0:23:33.919
the star wars universe which you know
0:23:30.799,0:23:36.960
that’s kind of cool yeah there you go
0:23:33.919,0:23:39.200
so tell us about
0:23:36.960,0:23:42.000
the sith warlock who could be the
0:23:39.200,0:23:44.960
villain of the next star wars show
0:23:42.000,0:23:46.159
so obviously between the mandalorian the
0:23:44.960,0:23:48.320
bad batch
0:23:46.159,0:23:50.799
the obi-wan show there’s a whole lot of
0:23:48.320,0:23:53.039
new star wars tv to look forward to
0:23:50.799,0:23:54.640
on disney plus and there still needs to
0:23:53.039,0:23:57.279
be some expansion
0:23:54.640,0:23:58.159
um so could the next star wars series be
0:23:57.279,0:24:01.679
from an even
0:23:58.159,0:24:04.880
longer time ago in a galaxy far far away
0:24:01.679,0:24:05.440
so obviously you know what a lot of
0:24:04.880,0:24:09.039
people
0:24:05.440,0:24:12.159
and uh you know big star wars fans have
0:24:09.039,0:24:14.559
kind of you know in their brain is
0:24:12.159,0:24:15.279
you know did you he ever hear the
0:24:14.559,0:24:18.320
tragedy
0:24:15.279,0:24:20.559
of darth plagueis the wise and this is
0:24:18.320,0:24:21.360
what the story was told to by senator
0:24:20.559,0:24:24.720
palpatine
0:24:21.360,0:24:27.600
to to anakin and
0:24:24.720,0:24:30.320
it provides not only a backstory for
0:24:27.600,0:24:33.360
palpatine but also plants the seed for
0:24:30.320,0:24:34.480
his return decades in the future so it’s
0:24:33.360,0:24:37.840
becoming clear
0:24:34.480,0:24:40.559
that you know kind of there’s a use for
0:24:37.840,0:24:41.600
throwing that out there um so by
0:24:40.559,0:24:44.320
establishing
0:24:41.600,0:24:46.480
the sith master for darth sidious the
0:24:44.320,0:24:47.360
star wars canon now has a built-in
0:24:46.480,0:24:50.240
villain
0:24:47.360,0:24:51.760
ready to go should there ever be a
0:24:50.240,0:24:54.240
pre-prequel
0:24:51.760,0:24:56.159
and we’ve kind of touched on this a few
0:24:54.240,0:24:56.919
different times that you know there’s so
0:24:56.159,0:25:00.080
much
0:24:56.919,0:25:03.679
pre-history that has never been
0:25:00.080,0:25:05.520
explored and you know you always mention
0:25:03.679,0:25:08.880
that your game takes place
0:25:05.520,0:25:10.720
in that time frame and that there’s
0:25:08.880,0:25:12.400
you know a whole bunch of bad guys out
0:25:10.720,0:25:15.520
there you could totally
0:25:12.400,0:25:16.880
do a whole lot of stuff with so that
0:25:15.520,0:25:19.440
might actually be coming
0:25:16.880,0:25:20.080
sooner rather than later so disney has
0:25:19.440,0:25:22.720
announced
0:25:20.080,0:25:25.120
that uh leslie hedland who was the
0:25:22.720,0:25:27.520
creator of the netflix series
0:25:25.120,0:25:29.120
russian doll will be leading a star wars
0:25:27.520,0:25:31.679
series for its streaming
0:25:29.120,0:25:33.200
uh platform and the only clues that we
0:25:31.679,0:25:34.640
have so far that it’s going to be a
0:25:33.200,0:25:37.440
female lead
0:25:34.640,0:25:39.039
and it’ll take place in an untouched
0:25:37.440,0:25:41.760
star wars
0:25:39.039,0:25:43.559
error that hasn’t been seen in any of
0:25:41.760,0:25:46.000
the film so more than likely
0:25:43.559,0:25:47.039
pre-prequel which is you know kind of
0:25:46.000,0:25:50.400
the guess
0:25:47.039,0:25:52.480
um so if that takes place you know
0:25:50.400,0:25:54.000
building up to phantom menace you could
0:25:52.480,0:25:57.200
have this you know
0:25:54.000,0:25:59.440
uh republic era where you know the sith
0:25:57.200,0:26:00.480
are using darth plagueis as its main
0:25:59.440,0:26:03.679
villain
0:26:00.480,0:26:07.440
and you know kind of see where it
0:26:03.679,0:26:08.799
goes from there so hints not a whole lot
0:26:07.440,0:26:11.840
you know out there
0:26:08.799,0:26:12.400
but there’s plenty of backstory um of
0:26:11.840,0:26:14.960
who
0:26:12.400,0:26:16.000
you know darth plagueis was he had the
0:26:14.960,0:26:19.440
alter ego
0:26:16.000,0:26:20.799
thing um you know kind of makes for a
0:26:19.440,0:26:23.919
perfect fit for that
0:26:20.799,0:26:24.320
you know villain and get to see you know
0:26:23.919,0:26:27.679
where
0:26:24.320,0:26:28.559
things go um you know to where most
0:26:27.679,0:26:31.039
people who
0:26:28.559,0:26:32.480
have only watched the films would would
0:26:31.039,0:26:35.279
understand so
0:26:32.480,0:26:36.080
what’s your uh take on on that well it’s
0:26:35.279,0:26:39.039
kind of cool
0:26:36.080,0:26:40.000
you know everyone thought that plagueis
0:26:39.039,0:26:43.279
was going to be
0:26:40.000,0:26:44.159
that villain that was pulling the
0:26:43.279,0:26:46.400
strings
0:26:44.159,0:26:48.559
of the sequel trilogy when they
0:26:46.400,0:26:51.120
introduced snoke and snoke
0:26:48.559,0:26:52.159
uh had a had a striking physical
0:26:51.120,0:26:55.360
resemblance
0:26:52.159,0:26:57.840
to the species that
0:26:55.360,0:26:59.679
that plagueis was from but plagueis did
0:26:57.840,0:27:02.960
get some backstory love
0:26:59.679,0:27:04.960
in the palpatine book
0:27:02.960,0:27:07.679
where you kind of got to see some of the
0:27:04.960,0:27:08.080
movers and shakers behind it and some of
0:27:07.679,0:27:11.760
the
0:27:08.080,0:27:14.880
intriguing stuff i don’t know how far
0:27:11.760,0:27:17.760
uh in the past they’re going to set this
0:27:14.880,0:27:20.000
they’re kind of sandwiching themselves
0:27:17.760,0:27:23.200
here now because you’ve got
0:27:20.000,0:27:25.760
the novels and the comics for the high
0:27:23.200,0:27:27.840
republic that are going to be coming out
0:27:25.760,0:27:29.520
you already have an established baseline
0:27:27.840,0:27:31.520
for the prequels
0:27:29.520,0:27:33.039
there’s a period in between there of a
0:27:31.520,0:27:34.559
couple of hundred years that you can
0:27:33.039,0:27:37.600
work with
0:27:34.559,0:27:38.720
i don’t i don’t know what’s lively in
0:27:37.600,0:27:42.000
that time period
0:27:38.720,0:27:45.039
that you could kind of bring to life
0:27:42.000,0:27:46.720
a lot of us who are fans and and players
0:27:45.039,0:27:50.880
of star wars the old republic
0:27:46.720,0:27:53.360
the video game would love to see
0:27:50.880,0:27:55.360
that time period because there’s so much
0:27:53.360,0:27:55.760
such a rich story in there now that’s
0:27:55.360,0:27:58.960
not
0:27:55.760,0:28:02.000
canon in the star wars universe um
0:27:58.960,0:28:05.520
i think i speak for a lot of people who
0:28:02.000,0:28:08.000
want to see that turned into canonized
0:28:05.520,0:28:09.279
movies and shows and stuff like that
0:28:08.000,0:28:11.039
because of
0:28:09.279,0:28:13.600
how many characters you have there and
0:28:11.039,0:28:16.320
how many like they’re talking having a
0:28:13.600,0:28:18.320
female lead here there’s a number of
0:28:16.320,0:28:19.360
powerful female leads to come out of the
0:28:18.320,0:28:23.120
backstories of
0:28:19.360,0:28:25.279
old republic and stuff like that so
0:28:23.120,0:28:26.320
i don’t know we’ll see i mean they’re
0:28:25.279,0:28:28.080
they’re
0:28:26.320,0:28:29.760
kind of plain as close to the vest here
0:28:28.080,0:28:30.000
not giving us a lot of information on it
0:28:29.760,0:28:31.600
so
0:28:30.000,0:28:33.279
hopefully it turns out to be a good
0:28:31.600,0:28:35.120
thing so
0:28:33.279,0:28:36.960
i don’t know more star wars is always a
0:28:35.120,0:28:37.919
good thing i didn’t think you’d as long
0:28:36.960,0:28:42.720
as it’s not
0:28:37.919,0:28:45.200
solo i was waiting for that
0:28:42.720,0:28:47.600
so that was all we had for something
0:28:45.200,0:28:49.919
something star wars right
0:28:47.600,0:28:51.679
uh that’s not you know we’re details
0:28:49.919,0:28:54.000
from that else from the galaxy
0:28:51.679,0:28:55.279
edge of the galaxy into the galaxy yeah
0:28:54.000,0:28:58.080
we have to get it
0:28:55.279,0:28:59.120
galaxy’s edge edge of the galaxy i i get
0:28:58.080,0:29:00.399
that
0:28:59.120,0:29:02.240
i see where you went there it’s hot
0:29:00.399,0:29:05.039
today it’s too many words i can’t deal
0:29:02.240,0:29:05.039
with that many words
0:29:06.799,0:29:10.399
we’re going to take a quick break and
0:29:09.360,0:29:14.159
we’ll be right back

0:30:22.480,0:30:25.760
so tell us about tom holland selling his
0:30:25.279,0:30:28.480
soul
0:30:25.760,0:30:29.440
to disney so tom holland is in talks
0:30:28.480,0:30:33.279
with disney and
0:30:29.440,0:30:34.240
sony over a six movie deal um the report
0:30:33.279,0:30:37.200
actually came from
0:30:34.240,0:30:39.600
we got this covered um sources close to
0:30:37.200,0:30:40.720
the saga have claimed that producers and
0:30:39.600,0:30:43.760
film bosses
0:30:40.720,0:30:46.559
are ready to keep the 24 year old on
0:30:43.760,0:30:47.600
and are making him a big offer according
0:30:46.559,0:30:49.520
to the reports
0:30:47.600,0:30:51.120
disney is offering holland three
0:30:49.520,0:30:54.399
standalone movies
0:30:51.120,0:30:57.200
following spider-man 3 as well as three
0:30:54.399,0:30:58.320
future films outside of the spider-man
0:30:57.200,0:31:00.960
saga
0:30:58.320,0:31:02.960
so we got this covered sources have
0:31:00.960,0:31:05.039
claimed that people involved
0:31:02.960,0:31:08.000
with the studio revealed that disney
0:31:05.039,0:31:10.080
wants to tell peter parker’s whole story
0:31:08.000,0:31:12.799
from his time in high school through his
0:31:10.080,0:31:12.799
adult life
0:31:12.960,0:31:18.720
so that’s you know
0:31:16.000,0:31:19.760
it doesn’t sound like a bad idea a bad
0:31:18.720,0:31:22.159
gig if you can
0:31:19.760,0:31:22.960
get it um the rest of the article talks
0:31:22.159,0:31:25.279
about
0:31:22.960,0:31:26.720
stuff that we’ve already heard before
0:31:25.279,0:31:29.519
with bob iger
0:31:26.720,0:31:30.159
you know calling him and he was at the
0:31:29.519,0:31:33.120
pub
0:31:30.159,0:31:34.720
and he was drunk and you know didn’t
0:31:33.120,0:31:36.000
think it was him calling
0:31:34.720,0:31:38.240
and you know he thought he was being
0:31:36.000,0:31:39.120
punked and it was really bob iger saying
0:31:38.240,0:31:42.240
yeah we
0:31:39.120,0:31:44.640
really want you to stay um
0:31:42.240,0:31:46.640
so that that could be you know good news
0:31:44.640,0:31:49.039
be interesting to see because
0:31:46.640,0:31:50.640
what every other person that’s done
0:31:49.039,0:31:53.840
spider-man has done
0:31:50.640,0:31:55.279
what most three movies i think right so
0:31:53.840,0:31:57.519
this would be kind of you know
0:31:55.279,0:31:58.240
interesting if he you know surpasses
0:31:57.519,0:32:01.840
that
0:31:58.240,0:32:03.440
um and i i liked him as spider-man so
0:32:01.840,0:32:05.120
well and i think the important thing
0:32:03.440,0:32:08.640
here is i would much rather
0:32:05.120,0:32:09.519
see disney and marvel do spider-man
0:32:08.640,0:32:12.399
movies than
0:32:09.519,0:32:13.120
than sony obviously sony didn’t have
0:32:12.399,0:32:16.000
such a
0:32:13.120,0:32:16.399
i mean they weren’t movies they haven’t
0:32:16.000,0:32:18.720
been
0:32:16.399,0:32:20.320
terrible right they’ve been compared to
0:32:18.720,0:32:21.200
what we’ve seen for superhero movies
0:32:20.320,0:32:26.720
prior to that right
0:32:21.200,0:32:26.720
right but they just they lack the same
0:32:27.279,0:32:32.480
synchronicity yeah the large arcing
0:32:30.559,0:32:33.679
marvel movies do
0:32:32.480,0:32:36.159
like they’re they do very good
0:32:33.679,0:32:38.240
standalone movies whereas
0:32:36.159,0:32:40.480
marvel does very good standalone movies
0:32:38.240,0:32:43.279
that feed into a much better
0:32:40.480,0:32:43.679
thing yeah i agree so i think they could
0:32:43.279,0:32:47.200
do
0:32:43.679,0:32:50.399
more credit to the star wars the
0:32:47.200,0:32:52.720
sorry the spider-man saga right
0:32:50.399,0:32:54.000
then sony does something you know and
0:32:52.720,0:32:56.159
kudos to
0:32:54.000,0:32:57.440
tom for landing the deal i mean anytime
0:32:56.159,0:33:00.159
you can get a deal
0:32:57.440,0:33:01.360
working for disney yeah you know you
0:33:00.159,0:33:02.960
know you’re going to make a few bucks
0:33:01.360,0:33:05.200
yeah yeah and you know you’re going to
0:33:02.960,0:33:08.799
you know be be in for a while so
0:33:05.200,0:33:11.679
yeah so good for him good for him
0:33:08.799,0:33:14.080
so we also have and i didn’t scroll down
0:33:11.679,0:33:14.080
this time
0:33:14.399,0:33:17.679
it’s a rough day today can’t get good
0:33:16.960,0:33:20.080
help man
0:33:17.679,0:33:21.760
we need a production assistant so so
0:33:20.080,0:33:25.600
robert downey jr is
0:33:21.760,0:33:29.200
one-upping yeah so this was
0:33:25.600,0:33:32.320
obviously the the feel-good
0:33:29.200,0:33:36.080
story of the week um
0:33:32.320,0:33:39.279
was um the the story is that
0:33:36.080,0:33:43.279
um bridger walker who’s six years old
0:33:39.279,0:33:45.919
um is now a real hero um the child has
0:33:43.279,0:33:48.000
he’s been in the news lately because he
0:33:45.919,0:33:50.480
saved his four-year-old sister
0:33:48.000,0:33:52.000
from a dog attacked he jumped in front
0:33:50.480,0:33:55.360
of her as the dog latched
0:33:52.000,0:33:56.559
onto his face which resulted in 60
0:33:55.360,0:33:59.200
stitches
0:33:56.559,0:34:00.960
sorry 90 stitches a black eye and a
0:33:59.200,0:34:03.919
whole lot of pain
0:34:00.960,0:34:05.760
his aunt nikki took some time to share
0:34:03.919,0:34:06.799
bridger’s story with the world and
0:34:05.760,0:34:09.359
tagged some of
0:34:06.799,0:34:10.560
the biggest superheroes on the planet
0:34:09.359,0:34:14.240
hoping to just get
0:34:10.560,0:34:17.359
one response well obviously
0:34:14.240,0:34:19.119
captain america was the first to to
0:34:17.359,0:34:22.320
respond chris evans
0:34:19.119,0:34:25.520
so there was a a video of
0:34:22.320,0:34:28.399
um that chris had sent out to him
0:34:25.520,0:34:30.079
uh to bridger basically saying i’m you
0:34:28.399,0:34:32.159
know i’m gonna find
0:34:30.079,0:34:34.000
you know get a hold of your address
0:34:32.159,0:34:36.560
you’re the real superhero
0:34:34.000,0:34:38.720
i’m gonna send you you know a shield and
0:34:36.560,0:34:41.760
what was really cute was the video
0:34:38.720,0:34:43.919
uh his dad was videoing uh
0:34:41.760,0:34:44.879
his reaction to it and he’s in a captain
0:34:43.919,0:34:47.359
america
0:34:44.879,0:34:48.240
suit so that was just really kind of
0:34:47.359,0:34:50.800
special
0:34:48.240,0:34:52.240
and since then all the other avengers
0:34:50.800,0:34:56.800
have kind of
0:34:52.240,0:35:00.839
latched on um so robert downey jr
0:34:56.800,0:35:03.839
not to you know to one up
0:35:00.839,0:35:06.560
uh so he
0:35:03.839,0:35:07.520
uh now has gotten in on the fun and
0:35:06.560,0:35:10.720
decided to
0:35:07.520,0:35:13.760
you know to one up uh chris evans so
0:35:10.720,0:35:14.320
he in his video were you gonna play the
0:35:13.760,0:35:15.920
video or
0:35:14.320,0:35:17.680
is there any music here that i want to
0:35:15.920,0:35:19.920
get to take i don’t think
0:35:17.680,0:35:21.839
so all right i’m going to play all right
0:35:19.920,0:35:24.079
we’re going to play the video so this is
0:35:21.839,0:35:26.400
after chris evans had already said hey
0:35:24.079,0:35:30.160
i’m going to send you a shield
0:35:26.400,0:35:34.560
here’s robert downey jr
0:35:30.160,0:35:34.560
bridger you’re a rock star
0:35:34.720,0:35:40.320
my name is robert downey jr i play tony
0:35:37.680,0:35:43.440
makes me an old friend of caps
0:35:40.320,0:35:44.000
i hear he sent his shields your way i’m
0:35:43.440,0:35:48.000
gonna do one
0:35:44.000,0:35:51.280
better you call me on your next birthday
0:35:48.000,0:35:53.599
i got something special for you
0:35:51.280,0:35:59.599
late by the way that’s the promise
0:35:53.599,0:36:02.960
promise needs to shield
0:35:59.599,0:36:05.280
you know and how do you not you know
0:36:02.960,0:36:07.200
love when they all all come together so
0:36:05.280,0:36:09.680
the iron man promise should be
0:36:07.200,0:36:11.520
obviously something pretty special um
0:36:09.680,0:36:14.800
but obviously we have to wait and see
0:36:11.520,0:36:17.520
till his next birthday in addition to
0:36:14.800,0:36:20.240
chris evans and robert downey jr
0:36:17.520,0:36:22.400
mark ruffalo also sent a message saying
0:36:20.240,0:36:24.480
people who put the well-beings of others
0:36:22.400,0:36:26.320
in front of themselves are the most
0:36:24.480,0:36:29.359
heroic and thoughtful people
0:36:26.320,0:36:31.119
i know i truly respect and admire your
0:36:29.359,0:36:34.160
courage and your heart
0:36:31.119,0:36:37.200
um when people asked him
0:36:34.160,0:36:39.440
you know why he did that he you know
0:36:37.200,0:36:40.320
the bridger basically said if somebody
0:36:39.440,0:36:45.280
had to die
0:36:40.320,0:36:45.280
i thought it should be me well like
0:36:45.520,0:36:49.359
how do you not get you know choked up
0:36:47.920,0:36:52.240
over that um
0:36:49.359,0:36:54.079
and then thor chris helmsworth sent a
0:36:52.240,0:36:55.760
message to him also he said
0:36:54.079,0:36:57.440
he did something that not a lot of
0:36:55.760,0:36:59.440
people would do
0:36:57.440,0:37:02.560
he stood between the dog and his sister
0:36:59.440,0:37:05.359
and took the full attack on himself
0:37:02.560,0:37:07.760
hemsworth had said in his video message
0:37:05.359,0:37:10.560
he received some pretty serious injuries
0:37:07.760,0:37:11.920
to his hands i’m sorry his head in his
0:37:10.560,0:37:13.680
face but afterwards
0:37:11.920,0:37:15.040
he took his sister’s hand and brought
0:37:13.680,0:37:18.320
her to safety
0:37:15.040,0:37:20.079
um captain marvel’s brie larson has also
0:37:18.320,0:37:20.960
reached out to the family in a private
0:37:20.079,0:37:24.000
message
0:37:20.960,0:37:26.400
um bridger walker is the kind of hero
0:37:24.000,0:37:29.680
obviously that 2020 deserves
0:37:26.400,0:37:31.440
um so with everything going on and
0:37:29.680,0:37:33.119
hearing all these you know wonderful
0:37:31.440,0:37:34.079
things uh you know one of the other
0:37:33.119,0:37:37.359
things too
0:37:34.079,0:37:40.480
um was and hathaway had reached out to
0:37:37.359,0:37:43.119
saying i’m not advent i’m not an avenger
0:37:40.480,0:37:43.839
let me start this again i am not an
0:37:43.119,0:37:47.280
avenger
0:37:43.839,0:37:49.520
but i know a superhero when i see one um
0:37:47.280,0:37:50.640
i can only hope that i’m half as brave
0:37:49.520,0:37:54.320
as you are
0:37:50.640,0:37:57.680
uh in my luck i’m let’s try this again
0:37:54.320,0:37:58.160
i can only hope i’m half as brave in my
0:37:57.680,0:38:02.160
life
0:37:58.160,0:38:05.200
as you are in yours obviously played
0:38:02.160,0:38:07.520
um catwoman right right
0:38:05.200,0:38:09.280
right and she said wishing you uh an
0:38:07.520,0:38:12.480
easeful recovery
0:38:09.280,0:38:14.320
uh and many cool looking rocks um
0:38:12.480,0:38:15.920
and then she had actually tagged mark
0:38:14.320,0:38:16.960
ruffalo and said hey do you need a
0:38:15.920,0:38:19.440
teammate
0:38:16.960,0:38:20.320
so it was kind of neat that you know all
0:38:19.440,0:38:23.520
these different
0:38:20.320,0:38:26.960
you know superhero celebrities have have
0:38:23.520,0:38:30.800
you know kind of jumped on you know for
0:38:26.960,0:38:32.560
for this kid who you know
0:38:30.800,0:38:34.079
did something kid kid show would have
0:38:32.560,0:38:36.000
absolutely you know
0:38:34.079,0:38:37.200
amazing so you need a little bit more of
0:38:36.000,0:38:40.160
that in the world today yep
0:38:37.200,0:38:41.599
sure do so that was all we had for
0:38:40.160,0:38:43.760
entertainment news
0:38:41.599,0:38:44.640
we will be back in a moment with our
0:38:43.760,0:38:47.839
insightful
0:38:44.640,0:38:47.839
picks of the week
0:38:50.480,0:38:53.040
[Applause]
0:38:51.290,0:38:55.280
[Music]
0:38:53.040,0:38:56.880
you need a minute there you go you gotta
0:38:55.280,0:38:58.079
compose yourself i gotta compose myself
0:38:56.880,0:39:00.800
that was you know
0:38:58.079,0:39:01.280
it was it was very emotional thing i you
0:39:00.800,0:39:04.480
know
0:39:01.280,0:39:06.960
even i started to get a little yeah
0:39:04.480,0:39:08.880
yeah little kids and you know you know
0:39:06.960,0:39:10.720
when you see kids that that stick up for
0:39:08.880,0:39:12.320
their sisters like that
0:39:10.720,0:39:15.839
you know it really hits you in the harp
0:39:12.320,0:39:15.839
yep sure does you ready
0:39:16.240,0:39:20.240
okay go for your insightful so my
0:39:19.200,0:39:23.280
insightful pick
0:39:20.240,0:39:26.320
uh is a docu-series
0:39:23.280,0:39:27.280
on disney plus which is called into the
0:39:26.320,0:39:30.560
unknown
0:39:27.280,0:39:33.760
making frozen two um so it’s a look at
0:39:30.560,0:39:36.160
the creative forces uh between the
0:39:33.760,0:39:37.760
filmmakers the artists the songwriters
0:39:36.160,0:39:40.880
the cast members
0:39:37.760,0:39:43.839
um basically how they they bring
0:39:40.880,0:39:45.119
everything together the challenges you
0:39:43.839,0:39:47.680
know the creativity
0:39:45.119,0:39:49.760
the complexity all leading up to the
0:39:47.680,0:39:52.640
release of frozen two
0:39:49.760,0:39:53.920
um what’s interesting is um this
0:39:52.640,0:39:58.400
documentary
0:39:53.920,0:40:00.720
was filmed i guess it was 11 months from
0:39:58.400,0:40:02.640
the end of the process the the whole
0:40:00.720,0:40:05.839
process was like
0:40:02.640,0:40:08.240
four to six years but the last
0:40:05.839,0:40:10.000
year 11 months of it is when they did
0:40:08.240,0:40:13.200
all of this filming so it’s kind of cool
0:40:10.000,0:40:13.520
because a lot of documentaries they kind
0:40:13.200,0:40:16.960
of
0:40:13.520,0:40:20.000
go in after the fact this part
0:40:16.960,0:40:20.560
they decided to do it you know while
0:40:20.000,0:40:24.079
they were
0:40:20.560,0:40:26.000
were filming it so um you know
0:40:24.079,0:40:28.480
in bringing frozen two to the screen the
0:40:26.000,0:40:31.359
creative team at disney animation
0:40:28.480,0:40:31.839
only had you know to contend with you
0:40:31.359,0:40:34.720
know the
0:40:31.839,0:40:36.160
the forests and the seas but the final
0:40:34.720,0:40:39.680
year of production
0:40:36.160,0:40:43.760
you get to see so much more of it um
0:40:39.680,0:40:46.640
and then it’s just
0:40:43.760,0:40:49.520
it’s you know how much goes into it but
0:40:46.640,0:40:52.800
seeing all these behind the scenes
0:40:49.520,0:40:55.760
just brings it out so much more and um
0:40:52.800,0:40:57.839
you know it’s amazing how you know they
0:40:55.760,0:40:59.200
start off with one idea and then
0:40:57.839,0:41:00.640
you know three months into it they’re
0:40:59.200,0:41:02.079
like nope this doesn’t work we need to
0:41:00.640,0:41:05.920
change it and it gets
0:41:02.079,0:41:06.720
totally taken out and redone and rerun
0:41:05.920,0:41:09.760
um
0:41:06.720,0:41:10.560
and it’s really you know down to the
0:41:09.760,0:41:14.319
wire
0:41:10.560,0:41:17.200
you know weeks you know before
0:41:14.319,0:41:17.839
the final you know launch of everything
0:41:17.200,0:41:20.640
they’re still
0:41:17.839,0:41:22.720
tweaking and working on it um and how
0:41:20.640,0:41:24.640
many hours and how many people are part
0:41:22.720,0:41:26.800
of it and all the different production
0:41:24.640,0:41:28.480
you know you you think back to the
0:41:26.800,0:41:30.560
original movies
0:41:28.480,0:41:32.319
you know snow white and how many people
0:41:30.560,0:41:35.839
were on it and now
0:41:32.319,0:41:38.960
how much more is put into it
0:41:35.839,0:41:40.880
um and it it travels you know because
0:41:38.960,0:41:41.680
you have the songwriters who live in
0:41:40.880,0:41:43.760
brooklyn
0:41:41.680,0:41:44.880
and one cast member is in new york and
0:41:43.760,0:41:46.160
then you have everybody else in
0:41:44.880,0:41:48.319
california and
0:41:46.160,0:41:50.160
the one guy is in oregon and and it’s
0:41:48.319,0:41:52.800
just neat how
0:41:50.160,0:41:53.520
they put all of this stuff together and
0:41:52.800,0:41:55.839
give you
0:41:53.520,0:41:56.640
you know this beautiful film you know at
0:41:55.839,0:41:58.720
the end so it was
0:41:56.640,0:42:00.240
very well done it was six episodes in
0:41:58.720,0:42:03.200
total um
0:42:00.240,0:42:05.200
you know and it’s funny because after
0:42:03.200,0:42:06.480
seeing the movie
0:42:05.200,0:42:08.400
and going back and watching the
0:42:06.480,0:42:10.240
documentary you’re like oh my god i hope
0:42:08.400,0:42:12.560
they make it and you’re like well i know
0:42:10.240,0:42:13.920
i know how it ends i’ve seen the
0:42:12.560,0:42:16.960
finished product
0:42:13.920,0:42:20.560
um but really really great
0:42:16.960,0:42:22.400
uh great great documentary
0:42:20.560,0:42:24.720
um and then even some little you know
0:42:22.400,0:42:26.800
backstories on on certain characters
0:42:24.720,0:42:27.520
that they kind of added in and why they
0:42:26.800,0:42:29.920
added it
0:42:27.520,0:42:31.359
which unless you watched the documentary
0:42:29.920,0:42:33.680
you wouldn’t know about so
0:42:31.359,0:42:35.119
that was kind of cool to to have that
0:42:33.680,0:42:37.119
insight too so
0:42:35.119,0:42:39.280
even if you don’t like frozen you know
0:42:37.119,0:42:39.760
it was just a very well done if you want
0:42:39.280,0:42:43.280
to see
0:42:39.760,0:42:46.160
how modern animated movies
0:42:43.280,0:42:47.680
are are done you know this gives you a
0:42:46.160,0:42:50.960
great look inside it
0:42:47.680,0:42:50.960
cool nice pick thank you
0:42:51.520,0:42:55.680
[Applause]
0:42:54.460,0:42:58.160
[Music]
0:42:55.680,0:42:59.440
so my pick this week is another
0:42:58.160,0:43:01.760
documentary
0:42:59.440,0:43:03.359
which that’s pretty much all i do these
0:43:01.760,0:43:06.160
days
0:43:03.359,0:43:08.079
this one is britain in color on the
0:43:06.160,0:43:10.240
smithsonian channel
0:43:08.079,0:43:12.240
the early half of the 20th century was
0:43:10.240,0:43:14.720
an era of great power
0:43:12.240,0:43:15.920
leadership and transformation for
0:43:14.720,0:43:18.000
britain
0:43:15.920,0:43:20.160
the british empire controlled over a
0:43:18.000,0:43:22.319
quarter of the earth’s land
0:43:20.160,0:43:25.599
the royal family struggled to rebrand
0:43:22.319,0:43:28.240
itself in order to save the monarchy
0:43:25.599,0:43:30.319
and winston churchill boosted morale and
0:43:28.240,0:43:33.599
resolved in the nation’s deepest
0:43:30.319,0:43:35.680
moment of need using cutting-edge
0:43:33.599,0:43:38.480
digital technology
0:43:35.680,0:43:39.200
witness the dramatic stories of kings
0:43:38.480,0:43:42.480
queens
0:43:39.200,0:43:46.160
colonists and a maverick prime minister
0:43:42.480,0:43:46.160
presented entirely in color
0:43:46.319,0:43:50.240
it’s nothing that’s earth-shattering
0:43:48.160,0:43:52.480
from a historical standpoint it’s a
0:43:50.240,0:43:53.359
rehash of a lot of the stuff that we’ve
0:43:52.480,0:43:56.400
already
0:43:53.359,0:43:57.119
you know seen in other documentaries but
0:43:56.400,0:43:59.280
it’s always
0:43:57.119,0:44:01.760
interesting to see these black and white
0:43:59.280,0:44:02.319
movies come to life in color when you
0:44:01.760,0:44:05.599
see the
0:44:02.319,0:44:07.839
this time period that
0:44:05.599,0:44:10.119
you’ve only seen in black and white and
0:44:07.839,0:44:13.760
you see it in this vivid
0:44:10.119,0:44:17.040
recolorization it
0:44:13.760,0:44:18.800
gives a different character to it we saw
0:44:17.040,0:44:22.800
the same thing in world war
0:44:18.800,0:44:24.880
ii in color it almost brings it to life
0:44:22.800,0:44:26.079
and makes it more realistic it makes it
0:44:24.880,0:44:29.040
less of a
0:44:26.079,0:44:31.839
an old newsreel and more of a an
0:44:29.040,0:44:33.760
intimate personal story
0:44:31.839,0:44:35.440
and and what’s funny is you know you and
0:44:33.760,0:44:38.800
i are fans of
0:44:35.440,0:44:42.319
the tv series the crown right and a lot
0:44:38.800,0:44:44.640
of the season one of the crown
0:44:42.319,0:44:46.480
those events are covered okay this
0:44:44.640,0:44:50.240
series here that’s kind of cool
0:44:46.480,0:44:54.000
it’s really neat seeing how
0:44:50.240,0:44:56.720
the tv show the crown almost
0:44:54.000,0:44:58.000
verbatim took these scenes from these
0:44:56.720,0:45:01.680
newsreels
0:44:58.000,0:45:03.359
and recreated them very faithfully
0:45:01.680,0:45:05.440
so it’s it’s very interesting to see
0:45:03.359,0:45:08.960
that and it’s it’s a
0:45:05.440,0:45:11.119
much more in-depth look when you can go
0:45:08.960,0:45:14.000
back and see these events in color
0:45:11.119,0:45:14.960
and get a feel for them so britain in
0:45:14.000,0:45:19.839
color
0:45:14.960,0:45:19.839
now on the smithsonian channel
0:45:21.760,0:45:24.240
[Applause]
0:45:23.000,0:45:27.760
[Music]
0:45:24.240,0:45:29.040
so i think that was all we had for today
0:45:27.760,0:45:30.880
we didn’t have any afterthoughts or
0:45:29.040,0:45:33.520
anything right no nothing today
0:45:30.880,0:45:35.920
