Disney CEO Says “Guests Will Spend Less Time in Line” with Disney Genie, Possibly References Paid FastPass Service Tie-In

In Thursday’s Q3 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said, “Guests will spend less time in line and more time having fun.”
Chapek discussed the “guest-centric services” that Disney has been developing for years, including the new Magic Key pass program for Disneyland and the upcoming Disney Genie app.
Specifically, Chapek noted a significant investment into Disney Genie to enable guests to “more easily and efficiently navigate everything [the] parks have to offer” and promised more details soon.
The company hopes to provide a user-friendly app allowing for a more personalized and customized experience for guests, putting them in control with more flexibility and choice.
Chapek said Disney Genie is “transformational,” calling it the MyMagic+ program “on steroids.”
It will use “consumer preferences, given what we know from them, blended with industrial engineering data based on how our park is operating that day to make suggestions on the fly.” He also noted it will lead to substantial commercial opportunities.
It has been long rumored that Disney Genie will recommend rides with shorter wait times or paid opportunities, possibly like the new Premier Access program at Disneyland Paris. Premier Access is a replacement for the free FastPass program, offering guests the chance to pay for access to shorter wait times.
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage Reopens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

It’s the tale as old as time… that we haven’t seen for a very long time! Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage has finally reopened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Entertainment has slowly been returning to the Walt Disney World theme parks since the March 2020 closure, with this Broadway-style musical as the latest to return.
At the time of posting, face masks are required inside the theater as per the current guidelines.
All the hit songs from the classic animated film are featured, starting off with “Belle.”
Of course, it just wouldn’t be a Beauty and the Beast musical without “Be Our Guest!”
The show closes with the tear-jerker, “Beauty and the Beast.” The finale is the only change we saw, with Belle and Prince Adam skipping their kiss in favor of a more physically distant farewell.
Park hours are currently posted through October 30, with showtimes listed for 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 5 p.m. daily. For the latest showtime information, be sure to check Disney’s website or the My Disney Experience app.

How to speak the secret language of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland
https://www.sfgate.com/disneyland/article/How-to-speak-the-secret-language-of-Star-Wars-16385965.php
https://bit.ly/3gbYA3k
Say “til the spire!” in normal conversation and you’ll get some pretty strange looks.
Say it at the Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and … well, you might still get some weird looks.
It all depends on the level of fan you’re talking to — and whether they know the secret language of Batuu.
When Disneyland’s Imagineers dreamed up the new Star Wars land, they envisioned a land that took place outside of the story line of the Star Wars movies, that was contemporary to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” but wasn’t contingent on any of the action in the older or still-to-come movies.
That meant they couldn’t rely on many of the franchise’s beloved characters to create a true sense of Star Wars-ness.
What they could tap into, though, was that the “galaxy far, far away” had vast — and as of yet unexplored — reaches.
So, they invented a planet no Star Wars fan had ever seen before.
A planet with a village that serves as a trading outpost for local Batuuans and visitors from a galaxy far, far away — as far as, say, Frontierland.
What the Imagineers actually envisioned at first was Tatooine — but which then-Disney CEO Bob Iger, according to the “Star Tours” episode of “Behind the Attraction,” nixed in favor of theming it to the seventh Star Wars movie, which at that time didn’t even have a script yet.
With this brand new land, the Imagineers didn’t just invent a story line and two rides that put you inside some of the most iconic pieces of Star Wars intellectual property.
They didn’t just give you Ronto Wraps and the ability to debate between the blue milk and the green milk.
They created an entire new language.
Cast members in Galaxy’s Edge speak Batuuese (the spoken language of Batuu, not to be confused with Aurebesh, the written language in the land).
In Batuuese:
“Bright suns” means good morning
“Rising moons” means good afternoon or good evening
“May the spires keep you” is a phrase of well-wishes
“Til the spire” means goodbye
“Padawans” or “younglings” are little kids
“Refreshers” are restrooms
“Hydrators” are where you refill your water bottle
“Data pads” are cellphones
“Ignite the spark” is how you greet people in the Resistance, who then reply “Light the fire”
There are a handful of other phrases, mostly to ease the awkwardness of cast members not being allowed to acknowledge Disneyland as a place — so when you’re in another part of the park, you’re “off planet,” not “riding Pirates of the Caribbean” or “getting a churro.”
The problem is, though, almost nobody speaks it.
Of all the times I’ve been to Galaxy’s Edge, both in Disneyland and Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, I’ve only heard one cast member once wish me “rising moons” as I was leaving a store.
It was also a time that I was asking him to point out some Easter eggs I was looking for, which was very hard for that poor man to do while not being allowed to talk about a significant portion of the Star Wars universe — so he may have sensed that I was a person who would understand some of the language.
To be fair, I’ve never gone to Galaxy’s Edge dressed as a Resistance fighter, so I don’t know if there’s more lingo being tossed around if you show up presenting as a bigger Star Wars fan than I have.
I’ve also heard there are lots of Batuuese drops in Savi’s Workshop, where you can build your own lightsaber.
(I haven’t. If I’m spending that kind of cash in Galaxy’s Edge, it’s going to be on space cocktails at Oga’s Cantina.)
If you want to test this out for yourself, the Disney Food Blog has a printable guide to Batuuese that you can bring with you.
The Disney Play app that you can download on your “data pad” also has some translation in it.
To me, though, the lack of Batuuese being tossed around speaks to what’s missing in the land — the beloved characters who would provide the sense of nostalgia that has always been so crucial to Disneyland’s success and popularity.
Taika Waititi’s Star Wars Movie Tease Suggests Avoiding Ragnarok Mistake
https://screenrant.com/star-wars-taika-waititi-emotional-thor-ragnarok-better/?fbclid=IwAR2e2xMal6Hs5DIySWFWmSYzMdMnJQ2iO5Cn4G3rp-gXD-Mw7xIJVex_0Is
https://bit.ly/3xVi5mN
Taika Waititi’s upcoming Star Wars film has an opportunity to play to the director’s strengths and avoid an issue that many viewers had with Thor: Ragnarok.
Waititi is one of the latest directors to have his name attached to an upcoming Star Wars project, although little about the in-development film is currently known.
While Waititi’s most popular work is undoubtedly his contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s much more to the director and his style than his work on the third Thor movie.
Over the last few years, Taika Waititi has solidified himself as one of the most unique and quirky directors in modern Hollywood.
After earning acclaim for 2014’s What We Do in the Shadows, Waititi went on to direct Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) and Jojo Rabbit (2019), both of which featured the director’s trademark fusion of offbeat humor and emotional drama.
But even before Jojo Rabbit, the stylish Waititi caught the eye of Disney, directing the aforementioned Ragnarok in 2017 and returning to the MCU in 2022 for the fourth Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder.
He’s also stepped into the world of Lucasfilm, as the self-described Star Wars superfan directed and had a small role in The Mandalorian.
However, Waititi is also developing a feature Star Wars movie.
When asked about injecting the still-untitled movie with his trademark style in a recent interview Waititi responded,
“I tend to go down that little sincerity alleyway in my films.
I like to fool the viewer into thinking ‘ha it’s this’ and then them going, ‘Damn it, you made me feel something!'”
This answer seems to imply that Waititi intends to take the viewer on a ride that will elicit genuine emotion and perhaps even tug at the heart strings.
If true, then Waititi’s Star Wars film might very well avoid one of the biggest criticisms of Thor: Ragnarok: its tendency to undercut genuine emotional moments for the sake of a gag or joke.
Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok is easily the most comedic of the MCU’s films, almost completely eschewing the grandiose sense of scale and drama that was found in the first two Thor entries.
While every Thor movie has its comedic moments, Ragnarok obviously took far more cues from the comedic tone of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy than it did from either Thor or Thor: The Dark World.
The result was a movie that often sidestepped genuine drama and focused more on goofiness and extended gags.
While this approach helped make the film a financially successful crowd-pleaser, many viewers who’d followed Waititi’s work noticed that the director’s skillful blend of comedy and drama was largely missing.
Taika Waititi’s MCU entry might’ve had visual flourish and a great sense of humor, but his true strengths as a filmmaker weren’t employed to their full potential.
However, if Waititi is given the freedom to indulge in the emotional drama missing from Ragnarok in his new Star Wars film, it’s entirely possible that the acclaimed filmmaker could craft an emotionally resonant, deeply moving, and uniquely special entry in the long-running franchise.

Will Disney Accidentally Solve Hollywood’s Biggest Problem?
https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/08/14/will-disney-accidentally-solve-hollywoods-biggest/
https://bit.ly/3jYbOSg
It’s probably not the way Walt Disney scripted it out, but when it comes to solving Hollywood’s film distribution problem, it seems as if all roads lead to the House of Mouse.
Free Guy is the latest Disney movie to hit theaters this past weekend, and it’s approaching distribution in an entirely different way from the entertainment giant’s recent releases.
Disney is also being sued by Scarlett Johansson, the star of this year’s highest-grossing multiplex release.
Disney didn’t plan Free Guy’s distribution strategy.
It also obviously didn’t want to trade legal fisticuffs with the Black Widow star, especially since another movie deal has come undone as a result of the standoff.
However, as unintentional as these events may be, this could be the reason there’s a projector light at the end of the movie production tunnel.
Since August of last year, Disney’s approach to its planned theatrical releases has taken one of two paths.
Its biggest potential blockbusters hit theaters at the same time they were available through Disney+ Direct Access for anyone willing to shell out $29.99 for unlimited streaming access to the new release.
Black Widow, Cruella, and Jungle Cruise have gone this route, and it’s not a surprise that they’re the studio’s three top-grossing films of 2021 in the U.S. market.
These films will be available to all Disney+ subscribers three months after their theatrical premiere.
The balance of Disney’s slate has been either pushed out to a later release date or just dropped onto Disney+ for all of the platform’s existing subscribers.
We’ve seen Soul and more recently Luca go this route.
Free Guy is breaking the mold in that it’s the first Disney-owned release in more than a year to play exclusively in theaters.
It’s also a tighter than usual window of movie-house exclusivity, as Free Guy can be streamed legally 45 days later. This wasn’t by Disney’s design.
Free Guy — like next month’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings — are properties the media juggernaut inherited with its acquisition of 20th Century Fox assets.
They are tied to earlier release deals.
Making matters seemingly worse, when that 45-day window of theatrical exclusivity is over, they are going to be available on Disney+ rival HBO Max first.
This isn’t a bad thing.
Disney is now learning a lot about many different flavors of distribution.
It will be better suited to work the right levers if audiences come back to movie houses or if they stay away, either as a result of COVID-19 escalation or just the evolutionary migration to home-based streaming.
Johansson’s lawsuit over her Black Widow contract may be harder to sugarcoat, but this is an inevitable battle between studios and top talent.
Johansson negotiated her contract to take a cut of the box-office receipts before the pandemic, and before premium digital delivery was disrupting the traditional distribution channels.
This is a fight that has to happen, especially since the future may not be as rosy as the past for the industry in terms of sheer revenue generation.
Both parties are fighting for bigger slices of a thinning pie.
Just as we’re seeing salary caps for some sports leagues start to contract as viewership diminishes, the industry is going to have a painful reality adjustment.
Once everything is reset — and you may as well spill blood now rather than later — the better it will be for all sides to negotiate win-win contracts.
Disney didn’t pick its cards.
It was dealt the Free Guy card.
It didn’t want to lock horns with Johansson in a legal battle that now finds a production deal for a Tower of Terror-themed movie to fall apart.
It all had to happen for the media stock to once again be the industry bellwether and tastemaker.
As they say in The Mandalorian on Disney+, this is the way.
Chisox, Yanks go deep into corn; Field of Dreams hosts more
https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/yanks-chisox-deep-corn-field-dreams-hosts-79432324
https://abcn.ws/3D1lvbi
DYERSVILLE, Iowa — As the bus carried the New York Yankees through the cornfields blanketing this serene, rolling farmland of northeast Iowa, Aaron Judge noticed a difference from the usual arrival in the next city.
The ride to the Field of Dreams site to play the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night had everyone’s attention, like a bunch of kids who couldn’t believe what they were getting to do.
“It was the first time people had their headphones out, and they were just glued to the windows, checking out the scenery,” said Judge, the three-time All-Star right fielder.
“We have a lot of guys from different countries who really haven’t seen the country like this, or guys from big cities who really haven’t seen open fields and stuff like this, so it was pretty cool driving in and seeing everybody in town kind of standing on the side of the roads with signs and cheering us on,” he said.
The made-for-TV event, delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, had the billing as the first Major League Baseball game in this state that’s usually focused on college and community sports, spotlighted by presidential campaigns and fueled by the hog and grain industry.
Judge provided a pair of picture-perfect images, launching two long drives into the cornstalks.
Tim Anderson hit the eighth homer of the game, a two-run liner in the ninth inning that lifted the White Sox over the Yankees in a 9-8 thriller.
Anderson delivered a Hollywood ending, too, circling the bases as fireworks exploded.
So what if it was more from “The Natural” than “Field of Dreams”?
This won’t be a one-time visit, either. Commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed that the Field of Dreams game will return in August 2022, with the teams to be determined.
The made-from-scratch stadium — built to hold about 8,000 fans watch the White Sox and Yankees play in one of the most anticipated mid-August games in history — was placed next to the actual diamond where the 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner was shot outside the town of Dyersville, population 4,000.
Costner came back for this, stealing the scene with a slow, ponderous stroll into the outfield his character Ray Kinsella often took in the film before stopping to watch the real White Sox and Yankees emerge from the corn for pregame introductions.
Clutching a ball in his hand, while the original symphonic score from the movie played over the loudspeakers, Costner stepped up to a microphone and told the crowd, “It’s perfect.”
White Sox slugger José Abreu delivered an instant highlight in the first inning, hitting a line drive that zipped over the fence in left field and vanished into the corn.
Judge connected for a three-run smash in the third and a two-run drive in the ninth.
Neither was a can of corn — they both flew far.
There were rows upon rows of corn between the two outfields, in fact. Yes, it’s the same spot where Shoeless Joe Jackson and his pals appeared — and disappeared — throughout the Academy Award-nominated film about fathers, children, culture, self-discovery, ghosts and, oh, yeah, baseball.
“As a kid you dream of the chance to play Major League Baseball and you watch certain movies or heroes in comic books and fairytales, and getting a chance to actually be at the Field of Dreams and play a game here and have family and friends here and getting a chance to represent the Yankees here, never in my life did I think I’d ever experience this,” Judge said.
Major leaguers can be particular about the details when they’re on a road trip, desiring to maximize comfort and minimize intrusion for optimal performance on the field, but nobody minded any of the logistical hurdles of playing this game a four-hour drive from Chicago and about a half-hour ride from the airport in Dubuque where both teams flew in.
White Sox closer Liam Hendriks was all smiles as he recounted his exploration of the white farmhouse where the Kinsella family lives in the movie that’s been well-kept as a tourist attraction.
Both teams had their fill of movie reenactment moments during pregame photo ops on the original field, before retreating into the corn and returning to the regulation stadium to prepare for the game.
The players were politely warned not to scrape their faces on the stalks and not to try to enter the maze — one of the fan attractions added to the site for the event — to avoid getting lost.
“Anyone who follows me on Instagram is going to be very sick of corn,” said Hendriks, whose phone storage had filled up after all the photos and videos he recorded.
Judge was born three years after “Field of Dreams” was released, but his father introduced him to the movie when he was a kid and he quickly became a big fan.
He noted that some of his younger teammates had not yet seen the film.
“I think one of these nights we’re going to sit down and I’ll have a DVD for ’em, ready to go,” Judge said with a wide smile.
The film, naturally, remains a strong source of local pride, and Iowa residents were given purchasing priority when the limited amount of public tickets went on sale.
The “Field of Dreams Ghost Players,” many of whom were extras in the film, gathered on the movie field in the afternoon in their 1919-style uniforms in honor of Jackson’s “Black Sox” team that plays a key part in the plot.
“It’s given us a real identity.
When you think of Dyersville, it’s ‘Field of Dreams,’ and all the publicity we’ve been getting lately has just been tremendous for the town and the area,” said Jude Milbert, one of the Ghost Players who developed a Globetrotters-style troupe after their involvement in the film by putting on youth clinics, doing comedy routines and traveling around the world as ambassadors of the game.
They’re all former college or semipro players who live in northeast Iowa.
The Ghost Players and everyone else can get ready for more next year.
“You never mess with a winning streak, but it does feel like all the teams are going to want to touch this.
There’s going to be hot competition to play this,” Costner said before the game.

“What If…?” flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways.
Marvel Studio’s first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU, featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles
Following the creation of the multiverse in Loki’s first season finale, What If…? explores the various alternate timelines of the multiverse in which major moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films occur differently.
The first season of What If…? premiered on August 11, 2021, and will consist of nine episodes, concluding on October 6. It is part of Phase Four of the MCU. A second nine-episode season is in development.
Only one episode in we as a family are hooked.
The animation and action sequences are amazingly fluid and life like
The alternate storyline of the first episode was fantastic, leaving us wanting to see a live action movie version of the events depicted in the episode
There’s so much potential for this type of show and this method of storytelling.
We are eager to see what the rest of the series has to offer and are anticipating the touching return of Chadwick Boseman in his last portrayal as T’Challa before his untimely death.

at least it’s not band camp it’s just a
0:01:34.000,0:01:38.560
regular right band so
0:01:36.799,0:01:41.119
uh so that’s not what we’re talking
0:01:38.560,0:01:42.960
about today no well it is and we’ve
0:01:41.119,0:01:45.920
already talked about it okay on to the
0:01:42.960,0:01:48.560
next so what we are talking about today
0:01:45.920,0:01:50.720
in our disney detective will disney
0:01:48.560,0:01:53.680
genie have guests spend less time in
0:01:50.720,0:01:55.680
line i’ll believe it when i see it
0:01:53.680,0:01:57.920

0:01:55.680,0:01:59.600
reopens at the studios

0:02:01.840,0:02:08.319

0:02:05.119,0:02:10.319
movie will differ from ragnarok and for

it yes yes they will by the busload as a
0:02:19.120,0:02:22.560

0:03:35.840,0:03:38.480
here we go
0:03:43.920,0:03:48.720
go for disney detective so our first
0:03:46.640,0:03:51.519
article that we’re gonna talk about um
0:03:48.720,0:03:54.400
actually there’s been more of an update
0:03:51.519,0:03:57.599
that literally just came out about an
0:03:54.400,0:04:00.720
hour two hours ago and we happened to
0:03:57.599,0:04:01.840
watch the video that actually came out
0:04:00.720,0:04:04.560
from
0:04:01.840,0:04:08.519
disney parks themselves but this article
0:04:04.560,0:04:08.519
uh was from wdwnt.com
0:04:09.120,0:04:17.040
talking about uh at last thursday’s
0:04:12.560,0:04:20.479
meeting uh disney ceo bob chepick had
0:04:17.040,0:04:21.840
started to kind of hint about the disney
0:04:20.479,0:04:23.680
genie
0:04:21.840,0:04:26.840
that was going to be launching in this
0:04:23.680,0:04:29.759
fall and again like i said since
0:04:26.840,0:04:32.560
uh again just a couple of hours ago they
0:04:29.759,0:04:33.919
released a video we we went through it
0:04:32.560,0:04:36.000
um
0:04:33.919,0:04:37.919
kind of confusing there’s still not a
0:04:36.000,0:04:41.520
lot of information
0:04:37.919,0:04:43.840
but the idea is that coming this fall
0:04:41.520,0:04:47.600
guests are supposed to be spending less
0:04:43.840,0:04:49.520
time in line and more time having fun he
0:04:47.600,0:04:51.680
discussed that the guest centric
0:04:49.520,0:04:54.720
services that disney has been developing
0:04:51.680,0:04:57.600
for years including the new
0:04:54.720,0:05:00.880
magic key pass program for disneyland
0:04:57.600,0:05:03.039
and the upcoming disney genie app he
0:05:00.880,0:05:05.680
also noted that it would be
0:05:03.039,0:05:08.160
more easily and effective
0:05:05.680,0:05:11.199
to navigate everything that the parks
0:05:08.160,0:05:13.440
had to open and again more details
0:05:11.199,0:05:17.440
would soon be coming out and again we
0:05:13.440,0:05:20.639
did see some of that um the idea of it
0:05:17.440,0:05:23.440
is this disney genie and from what we
0:05:20.639,0:05:26.479
saw on the video basically it’s going to
0:05:23.440,0:05:29.840
give you a suggestion as to what time to
0:05:26.479,0:05:32.160
go to a certain ride um you’ll put in
0:05:29.840,0:05:33.680
your preferences as to what kind of
0:05:32.160,0:05:35.600
rides you want
0:05:33.680,0:05:37.680
uh that you’re interested in what kind
0:05:35.600,0:05:40.800
of characters you’re interested in and
0:05:37.680,0:05:42.800
it’ll kind of put together a day for you
0:05:40.800,0:05:45.199
it’s not the fast pass system because
0:05:42.800,0:05:47.600
it’s you’re still waiting on a line but
0:05:45.199,0:05:50.000
it’ll say oh this might have a 15 minute
0:05:47.600,0:05:53.120
wait or this might have a 20 minute wait
0:05:50.000,0:05:55.199
and it’ll even give you suggestions for
0:05:53.120,0:05:57.680
food if you don’t already have a
0:05:55.199,0:05:58.960
reservation for something it’ll say oh
0:05:57.680,0:06:01.840
well since you’re going to be in this
0:05:58.960,0:06:04.000
area here’s a good location to to go and
0:06:01.840,0:06:06.560
grab a bite to eat
0:06:04.000,0:06:09.360
and then on top of that because again
0:06:06.560,0:06:11.600
this is the complementary service on top
0:06:09.360,0:06:15.280
of that there’s going to be the paid
0:06:11.600,0:06:17.919
service which is the disney genie plus
0:06:15.280,0:06:20.880
and that will actually tell you
0:06:17.919,0:06:22.479
hey if you want to go on this ride click
0:06:20.880,0:06:23.840
here and you basically make a
0:06:22.479,0:06:26.400
reservation
0:06:23.840,0:06:29.360
and it might be within the next
0:06:26.400,0:06:31.520
20 minutes or so and when you click on
0:06:29.360,0:06:33.039
that then you have to go over to that
0:06:31.520,0:06:35.360
ride
0:06:33.039,0:06:37.520
now again they didn’t talk about pricing
0:06:35.360,0:06:39.199
on this because then there’s also the
0:06:37.520,0:06:42.240
lightning lane
0:06:39.199,0:06:44.800
as well which is another add-on service
0:06:42.240,0:06:48.880
and that almost sounded like a
0:06:44.800,0:06:51.680
a la carte really um service where it
0:06:48.880,0:06:54.639
was like a specific ride you would pick
0:06:51.680,0:06:56.720
to do the lightning lane uh service for
0:06:54.639,0:06:59.199
that the one interesting with the genie
0:06:56.720,0:07:01.840
plus that we saw in the video was that
0:06:59.199,0:07:04.240
photo pass was going to be included with
0:07:01.840,0:07:06.479
that so that’s kind of that almost makes
0:07:04.240,0:07:08.560
it a little worth it um you know if
0:07:06.479,0:07:11.039
you’re the type of person that likes to
0:07:08.560,0:07:14.080
get those special photos taken by the
0:07:11.039,0:07:20.160
disney photographers or now a lot of the
0:07:14.080,0:07:22.319
rides have special photos um as well so
0:07:20.160,0:07:24.080
again we have to wait and see i think
0:07:22.319,0:07:27.120
you said you saw an article where it
0:07:24.080,0:07:29.599
talked about it would be twenty dollars
0:07:27.120,0:07:31.360
yeah so i read an article on cnn that
0:07:29.599,0:07:32.160
went into a little bit more detail with
0:07:31.360,0:07:34.000
it
0:07:32.160,0:07:37.120
so they they had mentioned that
0:07:34.000,0:07:39.520
disneyland it was going to be 15
0:07:37.120,0:07:42.479
they didn’t say what the duration per
0:07:39.520,0:07:45.120
day per day per ticket or whatever yeah
0:07:42.479,0:07:47.759
they didn’t say that so disneyland was
0:07:45.120,0:07:50.479
was listed as 15. disney world was
0:07:47.759,0:07:51.759
listed as 20. and the way they depicted
0:07:50.479,0:07:53.360
it was
0:07:51.759,0:07:55.120
your lightning lanes your fast pass
0:07:53.360,0:07:57.120
basically right you can have one
0:07:55.120,0:07:59.440
lightning lane active
0:07:57.120,0:08:01.520
at a time at a time once you use that
0:07:59.440,0:08:04.160
just like the old fast pass used to be
0:08:01.520,0:08:06.560
right once you use it then you can go
0:08:04.160,0:08:08.960
and select something else they did not
0:08:06.560,0:08:10.639
mention what the ride restrictions were
0:08:08.960,0:08:12.879
but there are supposedly ride
0:08:10.639,0:08:14.400
restrictions because the other thing
0:08:12.879,0:08:16.800
that they’re doing and really what the
0:08:14.400,0:08:19.520
disney genie is
0:08:16.800,0:08:21.520
it’s a search engine with an ai so what
0:08:19.520,0:08:23.840
they do is they
0:08:21.520,0:08:26.639
they take your input right they compare
0:08:23.840,0:08:29.360
it against what the known
0:08:26.639,0:08:31.599
line trends are that they have and
0:08:29.360,0:08:34.080
they’ll suggest times to do the rides
0:08:31.599,0:08:35.519
you want to do when it’s trending lower
0:08:34.080,0:08:38.000
right now
0:08:35.519,0:08:39.360
it actively adapts
0:08:38.000,0:08:41.039
to the day
0:08:39.360,0:08:42.399
right so your tip boards that you would
0:08:41.039,0:08:44.640
normally go out and look at for your
0:08:42.399,0:08:46.800
wait times are fed into this app as well
0:08:44.640,0:08:48.800
right so you’re going to see that these
0:08:46.800,0:08:51.040
apps are going to be updating those wait
0:08:48.800,0:08:52.399
times right and you’ll see it live which
0:08:51.040,0:08:54.240
is kind of cool the way that they’re
0:08:52.399,0:08:56.800
right and also if there’s a ride that’s
0:08:54.240,0:08:58.880
down you’ll see it right and it’s as
0:08:56.800,0:08:59.600
well you can reschedule reschedule your
0:08:58.880,0:09:01.680
day
0:08:59.600,0:09:03.440
on the fly it’s not you don’t just pick
0:09:01.680,0:09:05.680
your stuff and have it set for the day
0:09:03.440,0:09:07.760
it’s interactive right and it’s using a
0:09:05.680,0:09:09.440
little bit of intelligence to it that’s
0:09:07.760,0:09:11.839
the one thing i do give disney credit
0:09:09.440,0:09:13.920
for is they’ve really thought this out
0:09:11.839,0:09:16.000
and they have it set up for multiple
0:09:13.920,0:09:18.399
levels of people so
0:09:16.000,0:09:20.000
if you don’t know anything about disney
0:09:18.399,0:09:22.399
you could just go through and all right
0:09:20.000,0:09:24.080
i like star wars i like pixar i like
0:09:22.399,0:09:25.680
this i like that
0:09:24.080,0:09:27.920
or pick the type of rhino i like
0:09:25.680,0:09:29.839
coasters or i like interactive rides and
0:09:27.920,0:09:31.200
it’ll figure out what you want
0:09:29.839,0:09:32.959
or if you’re a little more advanced you
0:09:31.200,0:09:36.080
can go in and pick the specific rides
0:09:32.959,0:09:37.839
that you want right then when you have
0:09:36.080,0:09:39.519
the genie plus
0:09:37.839,0:09:42.800
you have the option when you get your
0:09:39.519,0:09:44.480
rides listed to pick your lightning lane
0:09:42.800,0:09:46.480
and the lightning ling shows whatever
0:09:44.480,0:09:48.399
the next available lightning lane time
0:09:46.480,0:09:50.399
is you claim that slot you show up at
0:09:48.399,0:09:52.800
the ride and you walk on just right and
0:09:50.399,0:09:54.080
i believe it’s the same you have like an
0:09:52.800,0:09:56.320
hour
0:09:54.080,0:09:58.959
time yes they do time frame they give
0:09:56.320,0:10:00.560
you the time uh frame window time with
0:09:58.959,0:10:01.920
the window in which right now the one
0:10:00.560,0:10:03.440
thing that they haven’t talked about
0:10:01.920,0:10:05.760
here and i’m sure it’s going to be
0:10:03.440,0:10:07.920
talked about because before when you had
0:10:05.760,0:10:10.720
a fast pass you didn’t pay for it if you
0:10:07.920,0:10:13.040
missed your window you were done it
0:10:10.720,0:10:14.800
expired you didn’t you know usually the
0:10:13.040,0:10:16.880
same thing will happen here it’ll just
0:10:14.800,0:10:18.560
open up and you can get another window
0:10:16.880,0:10:20.880
well that i guess that’s the question is
0:10:18.560,0:10:23.360
since now you’re paying for
0:10:20.880,0:10:24.320
so many of the lightning lanes
0:10:23.360,0:10:25.600
i guess
0:10:24.320,0:10:26.959
and
0:10:25.600,0:10:28.399
the funny thing is they don’t tell you
0:10:26.959,0:10:30.800
that there’s a limit you could have
0:10:28.399,0:10:33.839
right one active at a time right but how
0:10:30.800,0:10:36.240
many do you get in the last video that
0:10:33.839,0:10:38.240
we watched you should be able to get on
0:10:36.240,0:10:39.760
two or three of the rides that you want
0:10:38.240,0:10:41.279
which is roughly what you were able to
0:10:39.760,0:10:42.959
do with fast pass because you could pick
0:10:41.279,0:10:43.760
three things in fact i was gonna say
0:10:42.959,0:10:45.839
three
0:10:43.760,0:10:47.680
right exactly and sometimes we lucked
0:10:45.839,0:10:49.040
out and maybe got five fantastic
0:10:47.680,0:10:51.120
depending on depending on how we
0:10:49.040,0:10:52.800
scheduled the day so so and you could
0:10:51.120,0:10:54.480
probably get away with that now the
0:10:52.800,0:10:55.600
other thing they did mention is one
0:10:54.480,0:10:58.399
you’re gonna get
0:10:55.600,0:11:01.360
it’s gonna try to optimize getting on
0:10:58.399,0:11:02.240
and off rides based on the the trending
0:11:01.360,0:11:04.720
right
0:11:02.240,0:11:06.160
you’ll also still have virtual cues for
0:11:04.720,0:11:08.880
rides that are resistant right they did
0:11:06.160,0:11:10.880
say we had virtual cues before so
0:11:08.880,0:11:12.560
they kind of have these three different
0:11:10.880,0:11:15.839
ways to try to right
0:11:12.560,0:11:19.760
it sounded like they were doing
0:11:15.839,0:11:22.480
what they could to maximize your time on
0:11:19.760,0:11:24.720
rides and not in line right and disney’s
0:11:22.480,0:11:26.800
doing this not to make it convenient for
0:11:24.720,0:11:28.399
you just to be clear
0:11:26.800,0:11:30.560
disney’s doing this so that you’re
0:11:28.399,0:11:32.480
spending more time spending money at the
0:11:30.560,0:11:36.640
park right than spending time standing
0:11:32.480,0:11:38.160
in which we’ve said for years that they
0:11:36.640,0:11:39.440
would so
0:11:38.160,0:11:42.079
benefit
0:11:39.440,0:11:43.519
from not having people stand in line for
0:11:42.079,0:11:46.640
over an hour
0:11:43.519,0:11:49.360
when like when we went to
0:11:46.640,0:11:51.360
galaxy’s edge and we had our
0:11:49.360,0:11:53.760
our boarding pass
0:11:51.360,0:11:56.000
for rise of the resistance
0:11:53.760,0:11:58.320
we went and got snacks we went and you
0:11:56.000,0:12:00.399
know did chopping we if we had been
0:11:58.320,0:12:02.399
standing on that line
0:12:00.399,0:12:05.200
that’s revenue that that’s disney
0:12:02.399,0:12:07.360
wouldn’t have that was probably 600 they
0:12:05.200,0:12:09.040
would not have gotten out of us
0:12:07.360,0:12:10.639
yeah they really got a lot of them now i
0:12:09.040,0:12:13.040
will say i am
0:12:10.639,0:12:15.120
skeptical of this because
0:12:13.040,0:12:18.320
the technology they’re throwing at this
0:12:15.120,0:12:20.639
right now depends very heavily on
0:12:18.320,0:12:23.600
what their traditional models are of
0:12:20.639,0:12:25.360
their lines right and as soon as you put
0:12:23.600,0:12:27.839
this in place it’s going to throw that
0:12:25.360,0:12:29.519
entire dynamic out right now because
0:12:27.839,0:12:32.560
things haven’t been
0:12:29.519,0:12:34.560
right the same not even that but
0:12:32.560,0:12:37.279
you now have an app
0:12:34.560,0:12:39.680
that’s designed to optimize those wait
0:12:37.279,0:12:41.200
times right so you’re not going what
0:12:39.680,0:12:43.279
you’re going to see is you might not
0:12:41.200,0:12:44.720
have really high wait times really low
0:12:43.279,0:12:45.680
everything might come into the middle
0:12:44.720,0:12:47.519
here
0:12:45.680,0:12:49.279
and that’s really what an app like this
0:12:47.519,0:12:50.639
this is kind of what this type of
0:12:49.279,0:12:52.639
technology does
0:12:50.639,0:12:54.880
is it’s designed to throw away those
0:12:52.639,0:12:56.720
those highs and lows highs and lows
0:12:54.880,0:12:59.279
into the middle there so there’s like a
0:12:56.720,0:13:01.040
15 to 20 minute wait exactly for
0:12:59.279,0:13:02.240
everything everything
0:13:01.040,0:13:04.880
which isn’t terrible which isn’t
0:13:02.240,0:13:07.120
terrible i would be okay with that i
0:13:04.880,0:13:09.040
will mention in every video that i’ve
0:13:07.120,0:13:12.160
watched on this so far
0:13:09.040,0:13:14.480
at no point in time was peter pan’s ride
0:13:12.160,0:13:17.040
ever appearing in that app i can’t see
0:13:14.480,0:13:19.760
that it’s never okay because as soon as
0:13:17.040,0:13:20.399
the rope drops there’s a 90 minute wait
0:13:19.760,0:13:22.000
for
0:13:20.399,0:13:24.560
for peter pan it’ll be interesting to
0:13:22.000,0:13:27.600
say well and and again we’re not
0:13:24.560,0:13:29.360
planning a trip anytime soon so
0:13:27.600,0:13:31.120
if this is coming out i’m guessing
0:13:29.360,0:13:34.959
probably for october
0:13:31.120,0:13:37.760
probably for the 50th anniversary of
0:13:34.959,0:13:38.399
magic kingdom so we can let all the bugs
0:13:37.760,0:13:39.680
and
0:13:38.399,0:13:41.199
everything
0:13:39.680,0:13:43.440
i think it’s a move in the right
0:13:41.199,0:13:45.440
direction absolutely i think it’s going
0:13:43.440,0:13:48.560
to need to be proven out
0:13:45.440,0:13:50.079
and i think once those trends
0:13:48.560,0:13:51.199
level out
0:13:50.079,0:13:53.120
you’re going to have to see if the
0:13:51.199,0:13:55.279
system actually works the way they want
0:13:53.120,0:13:57.600
it to right and again i’m interested to
0:13:55.279,0:13:59.920
see because you said it was 20 that was
0:13:57.600,0:14:01.760
for the lightning lane well 20 was for
0:13:59.920,0:14:04.000
the genie plus oh that was for the genie
0:14:01.760,0:14:06.240
plus right so 20 bucks gets you your
0:14:04.000,0:14:08.079
lightning lane and your fan see i don’t
0:14:06.240,0:14:09.920
think so i think it’s an additional for
0:14:08.079,0:14:11.839
the lightning because the lightning
0:14:09.920,0:14:14.079
lanes included with disney pluses but
0:14:11.839,0:14:15.760
genie plus is what they said oh okay
0:14:14.079,0:14:18.000
well we’re gonna have to do some more
0:14:15.760,0:14:19.600
research and more reading up because we
0:14:18.000,0:14:23.920
don’t want to misquote
0:14:19.600,0:14:26.000
anything but if it’s 20 a day added on
0:14:23.920,0:14:28.320
that’s not so bad because again if
0:14:26.000,0:14:31.279
you’re getting the photos because just
0:14:28.320,0:14:33.519
the photos alone or like 150. they were
0:14:31.279,0:14:36.160
not very forthcoming with information on
0:14:33.519,0:14:38.480
the photos they showed you having access
0:14:36.160,0:14:39.519
to photopass right and the special
0:14:38.480,0:14:41.760
effects
0:14:39.519,0:14:43.760
right they didn’t tell you if you were
0:14:41.760,0:14:44.959
getting all those like right you could
0:14:43.760,0:14:47.360
take a picture because one of the other
0:14:44.959,0:14:48.880
things the article on cnn mentioned was
0:14:47.360,0:14:50.800
you’re going to have an augmented
0:14:48.880,0:14:52.800
reality the snapchat
0:14:50.800,0:14:55.040
filter basically right so you’ll have
0:14:52.800,0:14:58.160
the ability to pull up your camera
0:14:55.040,0:15:00.880
through the app itself
0:14:58.160,0:15:03.040
right right whether or not that is photo
0:15:00.880,0:15:06.880
passed like we know it or not is another
0:15:03.040,0:15:09.360
story right so so again a lot to to kind
0:15:06.880,0:15:11.279
of digest and a lot to and there’s a lot
0:15:09.360,0:15:13.040
that’s come out on this already from
0:15:11.279,0:15:16.079
multiple sources right having a
0:15:13.040,0:15:18.800
different piece of the puzzles right so
0:15:16.079,0:15:21.600
stay tuned we’ll probably have more at
0:15:18.800,0:15:23.360
some point in time uh as another sign
0:15:21.600,0:15:25.360
that things are are trying to get back
0:15:23.360,0:15:28.959
to normal yeah so
0:15:25.360,0:15:31.680
this was uh kind of good news again so
0:15:28.959,0:15:34.959
the beauty and the beast live stay show
0:15:31.680,0:15:37.680
that occurs at disney’s hollywood studio
0:15:34.959,0:15:40.639
has now come back as well uh so it
0:15:37.680,0:15:43.120
finally reopened after obviously being
0:15:40.639,0:15:45.759
closed since the park closed
0:15:43.120,0:15:48.160
in march of 2020 so when the park
0:15:45.759,0:15:51.440
reopened uh
0:15:48.160,0:15:53.839
most of the shows hadn’t opened up so
0:15:51.440,0:15:56.240
it’s nice to see we did report a couple
0:15:53.839,0:15:58.560
of months ago that the lion king show
0:15:56.240,0:16:01.279
had opened up and now the beauty and the
0:15:58.560,0:16:03.199
beast show so at the time uh that this
0:16:01.279,0:16:05.279
article came out
0:16:03.199,0:16:07.839
i think it was the beginning of the week
0:16:05.279,0:16:10.480
face masks would be required in the
0:16:07.839,0:16:12.240
theater as per the current guidelines so
0:16:10.480,0:16:14.959
even though the theater for the most
0:16:12.240,0:16:17.040
part is kind of an open-air theater it
0:16:14.959,0:16:20.160
basically just has a covering you are
0:16:17.040,0:16:22.480
still required to wear a fast face mask
0:16:20.160,0:16:24.959
so all the hit songs from the classic
0:16:22.480,0:16:27.120
animated film are features starting off
0:16:24.959,0:16:28.880
with belle and of course it wouldn’t be
0:16:27.120,0:16:30.959
beauty and the beast without the musical
0:16:28.880,0:16:33.120
number of be our guest
0:16:30.959,0:16:35.600
the show does close with its normal
0:16:33.120,0:16:38.320
tearjerker of beauty and the beast the
0:16:35.600,0:16:41.600
finale uh the only change that was
0:16:38.320,0:16:42.639
noticed in the show was belle and prince
0:16:41.600,0:16:45.360
adam
0:16:42.639,0:16:48.800
skipping their kiss in favor of a more
0:16:45.360,0:16:51.279
physically distanced farewell so
0:16:48.800,0:16:52.560
no kissing high five
0:16:51.279,0:16:55.839
elbows
0:16:52.560,0:16:58.720
um so park hours uh are currently posted
0:16:55.839,0:17:01.040
through october 30th with show times
0:16:58.720,0:17:05.039
listed at 11
0:17:01.040,0:17:06.720
1 2 4 and 5 daily so having you know so
0:17:05.039,0:17:08.319
a good number of shows throughout the
0:17:06.720,0:17:10.799
day um
0:17:08.319,0:17:13.280
obviously before you go check the
0:17:10.799,0:17:15.919
website and check the disney experience
0:17:13.280,0:17:18.319
app uh in case there’s any updates so
0:17:15.919,0:17:19.439
good news that again things are starting
0:17:18.319,0:17:21.439
to
0:17:19.439,0:17:23.039
open back up
0:17:21.439,0:17:24.480
unfortunately
0:17:23.039,0:17:26.959
the
0:17:24.480,0:17:28.400
coven numbers are going
0:17:26.959,0:17:30.480
up as well
0:17:28.400,0:17:32.559
um and one of the other articles that i
0:17:30.480,0:17:34.720
happen to see that i i didn’t throw in
0:17:32.559,0:17:36.799
was talking about because unfortunately
0:17:34.720,0:17:38.799
the coveted numbers going up a lot of
0:17:36.799,0:17:40.640
people are actually canceling their
0:17:38.799,0:17:42.880
reservations so
0:17:40.640,0:17:46.240
the occupancy level at a lot of the
0:17:42.880,0:17:48.080
resorts was up to about 95 for the
0:17:46.240,0:17:50.640
resorts that are open because again not
0:17:48.080,0:17:52.400
all of the resorts are open just yet but
0:17:50.640,0:17:55.679
now they’re starting to see
0:17:52.400,0:17:57.840
a drop um with people that are deciding
0:17:55.679,0:17:58.880
not to travel so it’ll be interesting to
0:17:57.840,0:18:00.720
see
0:17:58.880,0:18:02.799
how things kind of go
0:18:00.720,0:18:05.120
the next you know couple of weeks couple
0:18:02.799,0:18:07.120
of months even so it is nice to see him
0:18:05.120,0:18:08.960
bring this back this is this is probably
0:18:07.120,0:18:10.799
one of my more favorite stage shows that
0:18:08.960,0:18:12.799
they have one of mine as well because it
0:18:10.799,0:18:15.600
does a very good job of capturing the
0:18:12.799,0:18:17.200
essence of the movie itself in a quick
0:18:15.600,0:18:19.679
20-minute show
0:18:17.200,0:18:21.760
yeah the only dig i’ve ever had is that
0:18:19.679,0:18:24.320
it’s not an air-conditioned theater so i
0:18:21.760,0:18:27.360
can’t imagine how the folks in costume
0:18:24.320,0:18:29.520
survive on stage in the summer yeah yeah
0:18:27.360,0:18:31.280
so lots of ice i’m sure
0:18:29.520,0:18:32.880
yes yes because they don’t even air
0:18:31.280,0:18:33.919
condition the stage do they i don’t
0:18:32.880,0:18:36.400
think so
0:18:33.919,0:18:37.600
i’m sure there’s some cooling mechanism
0:18:36.400,0:18:39.039
in
0:18:37.600,0:18:41.679
you know in their casa i don’t know
0:18:39.039,0:18:43.600
we’ll have to ask friends of ours that
0:18:41.679,0:18:46.080
are former
0:18:43.600,0:18:47.919
cast members that might know so
0:18:46.080,0:18:49.919
uh so that was all we had for our disney
0:18:47.919,0:18:52.720
detective we’re gonna take a quick break
0:18:49.919,0:18:56.840

0:20:09.280,0:20:13.200
go for tails from the edge of the galaxy
0:20:12.080,0:20:16.559
so
0:20:13.200,0:20:18.320
if you say till the spire in a normal
0:20:16.559,0:20:20.559
conversation you’ll probably get some
0:20:18.320,0:20:23.280
pretty strange looks say it at
0:20:20.559,0:20:25.679
blackspire outpost in star wars galaxy’s
0:20:23.280,0:20:28.080
edge and well you’ll still probably get
0:20:25.679,0:20:30.080
some really strange looks and it all
0:20:28.080,0:20:32.320
depends on what level of a fan you’re
0:20:30.080,0:20:34.799
talking to or whether they know the
0:20:32.320,0:20:37.120
secret language of batu so when
0:20:34.799,0:20:39.600
disneyland’s imagineers dreamed up the
0:20:37.120,0:20:42.960
new star wars land they envisioned a
0:20:39.600,0:20:46.000
land that took place outside of the
0:20:42.960,0:20:47.200
storyline of the star wars movies and
0:20:46.000,0:20:51.120
that was
0:20:47.200,0:20:53.280
oh geez louise that scared me
0:20:51.120,0:20:57.320
special effects wow
0:20:53.280,0:20:57.320
okay i got remote control
0:21:03.120,0:21:05.360
anyway
0:21:04.080,0:21:07.440
anyway
0:21:05.360,0:21:10.000
so
0:21:07.440,0:21:12.880
live podcast isn’t that exciting
0:21:10.000,0:21:14.880
the force is strong in me so
0:21:12.880,0:21:17.440
so when they envisioned a land that took
0:21:14.880,0:21:20.159
place outside of the storyline of the
0:21:17.440,0:21:22.559
star wars movies that was contemporary
0:21:20.159,0:21:25.280
to star wars the force awakens but
0:21:22.559,0:21:28.000
wasn’t contingent on any of the action
0:21:25.280,0:21:29.919
in the older or still to come movies so
0:21:28.000,0:21:31.919
that meant that they couldn’t rely on
0:21:29.919,0:21:34.559
many of the franchise’s beloved
0:21:31.919,0:21:36.000
characters to create a true sense of
0:21:34.559,0:21:38.240
star warsness
0:21:36.000,0:21:42.080
so what they could kind of tap into was
0:21:38.240,0:21:45.360
that the galaxy far far away had a vast
0:21:42.080,0:21:47.679
and as of yet unexplored reaches so they
0:21:45.360,0:21:50.000
invented a planet that no star wars fan
0:21:47.679,0:21:53.280
had ever been to and a planet with a
0:21:50.000,0:21:56.799
village that serves as a trading outpost
0:21:53.280,0:22:00.000
for local batoons is that the twins the
0:21:56.799,0:22:01.280
twins uh and visitors from a galaxy far
0:22:00.000,0:22:04.640
far away
0:22:01.280,0:22:06.960
as far away as maybe frontierland um so
0:22:04.640,0:22:09.280
what the imagineers actually envisioned
0:22:06.960,0:22:13.440
first was actually tatooine
0:22:09.280,0:22:16.480
but when then ceo uh bob iger according
0:22:13.440,0:22:19.039
to the star wars star tours episode of
0:22:16.480,0:22:22.960
behind the attraction kind of nixed it
0:22:19.039,0:22:25.200
in favor for theming it to um
0:22:22.960,0:22:27.039
kind of the seventh star wars movie
0:22:25.200,0:22:29.520
which at the time didn’t even have a
0:22:27.039,0:22:31.840
script yet so that’s when the whole
0:22:29.520,0:22:34.240
brand new land came into being and the
0:22:31.840,0:22:36.480
imagineers didn’t just want to invent a
0:22:34.240,0:22:39.600
storyline
0:22:36.480,0:22:41.760
and two rides to put you inside of mo
0:22:39.600,0:22:45.760
some of the iconic pieces of the star
0:22:41.760,0:22:48.480
wars uh property so they basically
0:22:45.760,0:22:51.520
created this whole area but they also
0:22:48.480,0:22:54.880
wanted to create a language so cast
0:22:51.520,0:22:58.159
members in the galaxy um
0:22:54.880,0:23:00.320
speak batuise is that what we said
0:22:58.159,0:23:04.080
um so not to be
0:23:00.320,0:23:05.840
confused with arabesh
0:23:04.080,0:23:08.559
which is the written language of the
0:23:05.840,0:23:10.799
land so if you are in battu you would
0:23:08.559,0:23:13.840
say bright suns which means a good
0:23:10.799,0:23:15.600
morning or rising moons which is good
0:23:13.840,0:23:18.640
afternoon or good evening
0:23:15.600,0:23:22.000
or may the spires keep you which is a
0:23:18.640,0:23:25.840
phrase of well wishes or if you say till
0:23:22.000,0:23:26.720
the spire which is a a goodbye
0:23:25.840,0:23:29.919
or
0:23:26.720,0:23:32.320
a data pad which is your cell phone or
0:23:29.919,0:23:33.600
if you would say ignite the spark that’s
0:23:32.320,0:23:36.640
how you would greet people in the
0:23:33.600,0:23:38.960
resistance who then reply light the fire
0:23:36.640,0:23:41.840
kind of sounds like a
0:23:38.960,0:23:43.279
so obviously there’s more phrases and
0:23:41.840,0:23:45.919
things like that but what was
0:23:43.279,0:23:48.240
interesting was in this article the the
0:23:45.919,0:23:50.559
person talked about how
0:23:48.240,0:23:53.679
they never heard anybody kind of
0:23:50.559,0:23:55.919
speaking that but again they weren’t
0:23:53.679,0:23:58.080
dressed up as a resistance fighter
0:23:55.919,0:24:00.480
either so they were kind of wondering
0:23:58.080,0:24:02.799
well maybe if i wear something that’ll
0:24:00.480,0:24:05.520
kind of trigger different cast members
0:24:02.799,0:24:08.400
to say different things
0:24:05.520,0:24:10.799
but the interesting thing is that people
0:24:08.400,0:24:12.320
cast members that are in the area don’t
0:24:10.799,0:24:15.840
acknowledge
0:24:12.320,0:24:17.840
other areas of disneyland as other parts
0:24:15.840,0:24:19.360
of the park they say that that’s off
0:24:17.840,0:24:22.320
planet so
0:24:19.360,0:24:24.720
you’re not on pirates of the caribbean
0:24:22.320,0:24:27.600
you’re off planet you’re off world and
0:24:24.720,0:24:29.919
we even noticed that when we were in
0:24:27.600,0:24:32.480
galaxy’s edge in walt disney world that
0:24:29.919,0:24:34.559
they tried to
0:24:32.480,0:24:36.080
use different languages when it came to
0:24:34.559,0:24:39.200
different things like when we had to pay
0:24:36.080,0:24:41.760
for something it was uh 15 credits it
0:24:39.200,0:24:43.200
wasn’t dollars or things like that so
0:24:41.760,0:24:46.159
they did try
0:24:43.200,0:24:49.279
um so it was kind of a cute little
0:24:46.159,0:24:52.000
article to kind of help to get you
0:24:49.279,0:24:55.279
inspired to to visit obviously the the
0:24:52.000,0:24:57.200
article goes on to to talk about um how
0:24:55.279,0:25:00.000
you can actually download the disney
0:24:57.200,0:25:02.960
play app and in your data pad that it
0:25:00.000,0:25:05.520
has some sort of uh translations as well
0:25:02.960,0:25:09.440
and that there was a disney food blog
0:25:05.520,0:25:13.279
that had a printable guide um of other
0:25:09.440,0:25:15.200
phrases that you could use as well so
0:25:13.279,0:25:17.440
yeah and and you’re right when we were
0:25:15.200,0:25:19.200
down there they kind of did that but
0:25:17.440,0:25:21.679
they didn’t do it to the extent that i
0:25:19.200,0:25:22.960
would have expected them to right uh and
0:25:21.679,0:25:25.200
i think
0:25:22.960,0:25:27.039
for us it was probably because of the
0:25:25.200,0:25:29.760
sheer volume of people that were moving
0:25:27.039,0:25:31.039
through there true uh there was
0:25:29.760,0:25:32.720
they built the whole thing as an
0:25:31.039,0:25:34.400
interactive experience you could join
0:25:32.720,0:25:35.520
the resistance you could join the first
0:25:34.400,0:25:38.159
order
0:25:35.520,0:25:39.600
and there wasn’t really that presence
0:25:38.159,0:25:42.799
there aside from the couple the
0:25:39.600,0:25:44.720
characters walking around right so
0:25:42.799,0:25:46.240
that’s probably something that they need
0:25:44.720,0:25:48.320
to work on a little bit more especially
0:25:46.240,0:25:50.960
if they’re going to try and make the
0:25:48.320,0:25:52.799
star cruiser experience seem realistic
0:25:50.960,0:25:55.200
right and i think that’s the other part
0:25:52.799,0:25:56.880
of it too is that what once you have the
0:25:55.200,0:25:58.480
star cruiser
0:25:56.880,0:26:01.360
there’s probably going to be more
0:25:58.480,0:26:03.600
emphasis exactly on it because you’re
0:26:01.360,0:26:05.200
that’s part your excursion there as part
0:26:03.600,0:26:07.279
of that starcraft experience and if
0:26:05.200,0:26:09.120
you’re spending six thousand dollars for
0:26:07.279,0:26:11.919
your experience you want to have the
0:26:09.120,0:26:15.039
experience absolutely absolutely so
0:26:11.919,0:26:17.520
we’ll we’ll see if if more people uh
0:26:15.039,0:26:19.760
start talking uh the the new language or
0:26:17.520,0:26:22.159
not yeah yeah we’ll see because i read
0:26:19.760,0:26:23.760
the novels that went along with it and
0:26:22.159,0:26:25.600
they tie a lot of the stuff into the
0:26:23.760,0:26:28.400
novels in fact the layout you know we
0:26:25.600,0:26:31.039
have the right the sims add-on for
0:26:28.400,0:26:33.520
maddie plays that and it’s a it’s a
0:26:31.039,0:26:34.960
duplicate layout of what’s there so they
0:26:33.520,0:26:37.279
they’re they’re going
0:26:34.960,0:26:39.120
in big on the experience itself and they
0:26:37.279,0:26:41.279
want to sell it right but i think your
0:26:39.120,0:26:43.520
cast members probably need to have they
0:26:41.279,0:26:45.840
probably need a little bit more training
0:26:43.520,0:26:48.000
yeah with it too so
0:26:45.840,0:26:50.640
so tell us about taika watiti’s new star
0:26:48.000,0:26:53.039
wars movie so his upcoming star wars
0:26:50.640,0:26:56.000
film has an opportunity to play to the
0:26:53.039,0:26:58.400
director’s strengths and avoid an issue
0:26:56.000,0:27:02.400
that has many viewer that many viewers
0:26:58.400,0:27:04.080
had with thor radnorock so one of he’s
0:27:02.400,0:27:06.320
one of the latest directors to have his
0:27:04.080,0:27:10.240
name attached to an upcoming star wars
0:27:06.320,0:27:12.880
project although little has been uh
0:27:10.240,0:27:14.240
has been told about the in development
0:27:12.880,0:27:15.120
film
0:27:14.240,0:27:18.159
while
0:27:15.120,0:27:21.360
most of his work is undoubtedly
0:27:18.159,0:27:23.200
um you know he’s known for most of his
0:27:21.360,0:27:24.640
contribution to the marvel cinematic
0:27:23.200,0:27:27.760
universe there’s much more to the
0:27:24.640,0:27:30.559
director and his style than his work on
0:27:27.760,0:27:32.960
the third thor movie over the last few
0:27:30.559,0:27:34.960
years he has now solidified himself as
0:27:32.960,0:27:37.679
one of the most unique and quirky
0:27:34.960,0:27:40.720
directors in modern hollywood after
0:27:37.679,0:27:42.960
earning a claim with 2014’s what we do
0:27:40.720,0:27:45.279
in the shadows he went on what did we do
0:27:42.960,0:27:47.520
in the shadows i was waiting for that he
0:27:45.279,0:27:51.360
went on to direct hunt for the wilder
0:27:47.520,0:27:53.360
people and then jojo rabbit in 2019
0:27:51.360,0:27:56.720
both of which featured the director’s
0:27:53.360,0:28:00.080
trademark fusion of offbeat humor and
0:27:56.720,0:28:03.919
emotional drama uh but even before jojo
0:28:00.080,0:28:05.919
rabbit the stylish um watiti
0:28:03.919,0:28:08.240
had caught the eye of
0:28:05.919,0:28:10.799
disney directing the aforementioned
0:28:08.240,0:28:12.480
ragnarok in 2017
0:28:10.799,0:28:15.520
and then returning
0:28:12.480,0:28:16.480
in 2022 for the fourth
0:28:15.520,0:28:19.679
thor
0:28:16.480,0:28:22.880
film thor love and thunder he’s also
0:28:19.679,0:28:24.640
stepped into the world of lucasfilms as
0:28:22.880,0:28:28.480
a self-described
0:28:24.640,0:28:31.200
star wars super fan directing and had
0:28:28.480,0:28:33.600
having a small role in the mandalorian
0:28:31.200,0:28:36.399
um so now again we know that he’s
0:28:33.600,0:28:38.240
developing uh one of the newer star wars
0:28:36.399,0:28:40.000
movies um
0:28:38.240,0:28:42.799
when he was asked
0:28:40.000,0:28:46.399
you know if his trademark style would be
0:28:42.799,0:28:49.120
incorporated he said i tend to go down
0:28:46.399,0:28:51.200
uh that little sincerity alleyway in my
0:28:49.120,0:28:54.159
films i like to fool the viewer into
0:28:51.200,0:28:55.120
thinking ha it’s it and then them going
0:28:54.159,0:28:58.640
oh
0:28:55.120,0:29:01.279
darn it you made me feel something
0:28:58.640,0:29:03.919
uh so the answers seem to imply that he
0:29:01.279,0:29:05.840
tends to take the viewer on a ride that
0:29:03.919,0:29:08.399
will
0:29:05.840,0:29:11.279
bring out a genuine emotion and per
0:29:08.399,0:29:14.240
perhaps even tug at the heartstrings so
0:29:11.279,0:29:16.720
if true his star wars film might very
0:29:14.240,0:29:19.360
well avoid one of the biggest criticisms
0:29:16.720,0:29:21.840
of thor ragnarok which is the tendency
0:29:19.360,0:29:24.399
to undercut genuine emotional moments
0:29:21.840,0:29:27.279
for the sake of a gag or a joke
0:29:24.399,0:29:30.159
so in thor ragnarok it’s easily the most
0:29:27.279,0:29:31.679
comedic of the mcu’s films almost
0:29:30.159,0:29:34.399
completely
0:29:31.679,0:29:36.399
is skewing the grandiose sense of scale
0:29:34.399,0:29:38.840
and drama that was found in the first
0:29:36.399,0:29:41.600
two thor movies
0:29:38.840,0:29:44.799
obviously in our opinion the third one
0:29:41.600,0:29:46.880
was probably the best one
0:29:44.799,0:29:49.279
yeah better than the second at least it
0:29:46.880,0:29:51.919
couldn’t be worse than the first two i
0:29:49.279,0:29:53.679
think so yeah um
0:29:51.919,0:29:56.240
so while this approach has helped to
0:29:53.679,0:29:58.799
make the film a financial successful
0:29:56.240,0:30:00.559
crowd pleaser many viewers who follow
0:29:58.799,0:30:02.960
his work noticed that the director’s
0:30:00.559,0:30:06.320
skillful blend of comedy and drama was
0:30:02.960,0:30:09.600
largely missing so the mcu’s entry might
0:30:06.320,0:30:12.000
have had a visual flourish and a great
0:30:09.600,0:30:13.679
sense of humor but his true strength as
0:30:12.000,0:30:16.000
a filmmaker were
0:30:13.679,0:30:18.000
weren’t employed to their full potential
0:30:16.000,0:30:20.480
however if he was given the freedom to
0:30:18.000,0:30:23.200
indulge in the emotional drama missing
0:30:20.480,0:30:25.279
from ragnarok in the new star wars film
0:30:23.200,0:30:27.360
it’s entirely possible that the
0:30:25.279,0:30:29.919
acclaimed filmmaker could craft an
0:30:27.360,0:30:31.919
emotional resonant deeply moving and
0:30:29.919,0:30:34.080
uniquely special entry into the
0:30:31.919,0:30:36.240
long-running franchise
0:30:34.080,0:30:38.640
well and i think no matter what he does
0:30:36.240,0:30:41.279
he’s going to do a fantastic job i think
0:30:38.640,0:30:42.960
so i am not aware of any projects that
0:30:41.279,0:30:44.799
he’s been involved with that haven’t
0:30:42.960,0:30:47.760
been successful
0:30:44.799,0:30:50.799
um and he’s got one big thing going for
0:30:47.760,0:30:52.960
him he’s not ryan johnson
0:30:50.799,0:30:55.200
i was waiting you haven’t mentioned
0:30:52.960,0:30:57.760
you’re your bestie in a long time that
0:30:55.200,0:31:00.159
that is a win automatically not being
0:30:57.760,0:31:02.399
ryan johnson doing a star wars yeah yeah
0:31:00.159,0:31:04.640
and i and i think the other thing too
0:31:02.399,0:31:06.320
and what you could see
0:31:04.640,0:31:07.200
very much from any interview that you
0:31:06.320,0:31:09.440
did
0:31:07.200,0:31:11.360
uh when he showed up on the
0:31:09.440,0:31:15.600
the special editions of the mandalorian
0:31:11.360,0:31:16.840
thing is he is a star wars fan
0:31:15.600,0:31:20.320
and that’s
0:31:16.840,0:31:22.240
where you know you see john favreau and
0:31:20.320,0:31:25.519
you you know
0:31:22.240,0:31:28.480
you see when they just talk about it the
0:31:25.519,0:31:30.840
love and admiration that they have right
0:31:28.480,0:31:32.720
in what filoni and favreau
0:31:30.840,0:31:34.240
absolutely you expected them during that
0:31:32.720,0:31:36.240
special to just break out their figures
0:31:34.240,0:31:38.000
and start playing right exactly that’s
0:31:36.240,0:31:39.600
exactly what you’re like oh you have
0:31:38.000,0:31:42.159
this one well this is what i have did
0:31:39.600,0:31:43.760
you like that’s exactly and that’s what
0:31:42.159,0:31:47.039
star wars
0:31:43.760,0:31:47.760
needs yeah you know exactly so passion
0:31:47.039,0:31:49.679
right
0:31:47.760,0:31:52.480
you need the people that want to tell
0:31:49.679,0:31:54.159
the good star wars stories and be true
0:31:52.480,0:31:55.360
to the universe
0:31:54.159,0:31:56.880
not the people that are just trying to
0:31:55.360,0:31:58.640
make a buck right
0:31:56.880,0:32:00.960
like ryan johnson
0:31:58.640,0:32:02.559
well yeah anyway ryan johnson thought he
0:32:00.960,0:32:04.799
was he was too clever for the rest of
0:32:02.559,0:32:07.120
well that’s true too so
0:32:04.799,0:32:09.200
yeah uh but that was all we had for our
0:32:07.120,0:32:10.880
tales from the galaxy we’ll be right
0:32:09.200,0:32:13.880

0:33:25.120,0:33:30.880
go for entertainment news so will disney
0:33:28.480,0:33:32.000
accidentally solve hollywood’s biggest
0:33:30.880,0:33:33.440
problem
0:33:32.000,0:33:36.480
probably not
0:33:33.440,0:33:38.000
so from the full.com
0:33:36.480,0:33:39.600
this article popped up and it was
0:33:38.000,0:33:41.760
talking about how
0:33:39.600,0:33:43.600
um you know it’s probably not the way
0:33:41.760,0:33:45.840
that walt disney scripted it out but
0:33:43.600,0:33:48.960
when it comes to solving hollywood’s
0:33:45.840,0:33:51.840
film distribution problem it seems as if
0:33:48.960,0:33:54.159
all roads lead to the house of mouse so
0:33:51.840,0:33:56.880
free guy was the latest disney movie to
0:33:54.159,0:33:58.399
hit theaters this past weekend and it’s
0:33:56.880,0:34:00.559
approaching
0:33:58.399,0:34:03.039
distribution in an entirely different
0:34:00.559,0:34:06.240
way from the entertainment giant’s
0:34:03.039,0:34:08.480
recent releases disney is also being
0:34:06.240,0:34:10.639
sued by scarlett johansson the star of
0:34:08.480,0:34:13.599
this year’s highest grossing multiplex
0:34:10.639,0:34:15.359
release so disney didn’t plan free guys
0:34:13.599,0:34:18.159
distribution stat
0:34:15.359,0:34:20.560
strategy it also obviously didn’t want
0:34:18.159,0:34:22.560
to trade legal fisticuffs with the black
0:34:20.560,0:34:25.359
widow star especially since another
0:34:22.560,0:34:27.040
movie deal has come undone as a result
0:34:25.359,0:34:29.679
of this standoff
0:34:27.040,0:34:32.560
however as unintentional of the as these
0:34:29.679,0:34:34.639
events may be it could be the reason
0:34:32.560,0:34:37.440
there’s a projector light at the end of
0:34:34.639,0:34:39.599
the movie production tunnel so since
0:34:37.440,0:34:41.839
august of last year disney’s approach to
0:34:39.599,0:34:44.399
its planned theatrical releases has
0:34:41.839,0:34:47.760
taken one of two paths its biggest
0:34:44.399,0:34:50.159
potential blockbuster hits at the time
0:34:47.760,0:34:52.639
uh they were available through disney
0:34:50.159,0:34:53.879
pluses direct access for anyone willing
0:34:52.639,0:34:57.520
to shell out
0:34:53.879,0:35:00.800
29.99 for unlimited streaming access to
0:34:57.520,0:35:03.440
the new release so black widow cruella
0:35:00.800,0:35:05.119
and jungle cruise have gone this route
0:35:03.440,0:35:07.599
and it’s not a surprise that they’re the
0:35:05.119,0:35:10.400
studio’s three top grossing films of
0:35:07.599,0:35:12.640
2021 in the u.s market
0:35:10.400,0:35:15.440
these films will also be available to
0:35:12.640,0:35:18.160
all disney plus subscribers three months
0:35:15.440,0:35:20.000
after their theatrical premiere
0:35:18.160,0:35:21.760
the balance of the disney slate has
0:35:20.000,0:35:24.160
either been pushed out to a later
0:35:21.760,0:35:25.760
release date or just dropped into disney
0:35:24.160,0:35:28.400
plus for
0:35:25.760,0:35:30.480
the platform’s existing subscribers and
0:35:28.400,0:35:33.359
that’s what we saw with seoul
0:35:30.480,0:35:35.760
and most recently luca
0:35:33.359,0:35:37.680
so free guy is breaking this mold in
0:35:35.760,0:35:40.000
that it’s disney’s first
0:35:37.680,0:35:43.040
disney owned release and more than a
0:35:40.000,0:35:45.839
year to play exclusively in the theater
0:35:43.040,0:35:48.880
it’s also a tighter than usual window of
0:35:45.839,0:35:49.680
movie house exclusivity as free guy can
0:35:48.880,0:35:53.440
be
0:35:49.680,0:35:55.599
streamed legally 45 days later and this
0:35:53.440,0:35:59.280
wasn’t by disney’s design
0:35:55.599,0:36:01.920
free guy like next month’s shang chi
0:35:59.280,0:36:03.839
and the legends of the 10 rings all
0:36:01.920,0:36:06.160
properties that the
0:36:03.839,0:36:09.520
media company inherited with his
0:36:06.160,0:36:12.000
acquisition of 20th century fox
0:36:09.520,0:36:15.440
they are all tied to earlier release
0:36:12.000,0:36:18.800
deals so making matters seemingly worse
0:36:15.440,0:36:21.920
then when that 45 window of theatrical
0:36:18.800,0:36:26.560
uh exclusivity is over they’re actually
0:36:21.920,0:36:30.079
going to be on disney plus rival hbo max
0:36:26.560,0:36:33.200
so not even on disney plus so hmm
0:36:30.079,0:36:35.599
interesting so this isn’t a bad thing
0:36:33.200,0:36:37.920
disney is now learning a lot about how
0:36:35.599,0:36:41.119
about many different flavors of
0:36:37.920,0:36:43.599
distribution it’ll be better suited to
0:36:41.119,0:36:45.760
work out the right uh levers if
0:36:43.599,0:36:47.359
audiences come back to the movie houses
0:36:45.760,0:36:50.480
or if they stay away
0:36:47.359,0:36:53.599
either as a result of coven 19
0:36:50.480,0:36:56.560
or the evolution of the at-home base
0:36:53.599,0:36:58.800
streaming so johansen’s
0:36:56.560,0:37:02.400
lawsuit over her black widow contract
0:36:58.800,0:37:03.920
may be harder to sugarcoat but this was
0:37:02.400,0:37:05.119
a battle that
0:37:03.920,0:37:06.720
you know
0:37:05.119,0:37:10.560
was going to happen
0:37:06.720,0:37:12.800
between studios and and talent anyway
0:37:10.560,0:37:15.119
she negotiated her contract to take a
0:37:12.800,0:37:17.839
cut of the box office receipts before
0:37:15.119,0:37:19.040
the pandemic and before premium digital
0:37:17.839,0:37:19.839
delivery
0:37:19.040,0:37:22.240
had
0:37:19.839,0:37:24.880
you know changed everything so this is a
0:37:22.240,0:37:26.960
fight that kind of had to happen um
0:37:24.880,0:37:28.880
especially since the future may not be
0:37:26.960,0:37:31.440
as rosy as
0:37:28.880,0:37:33.280
it had been in the past so both parties
0:37:31.440,0:37:35.599
are fighting for bigger slices of a
0:37:33.280,0:37:38.079
thinning pie and just as we’re seeing
0:37:35.599,0:37:39.280
salary caps for some sports leagues
0:37:38.079,0:37:42.000
start to
0:37:39.280,0:37:44.640
uh contract as viewership diminishes the
0:37:42.000,0:37:48.240
interest the industry is going to have a
0:37:44.640,0:37:52.160
painful reality uh adjustment as well
0:37:48.240,0:37:54.640
um so as everything kind of changes you
0:37:52.160,0:37:56.560
know the whole negotiation of the
0:37:54.640,0:37:59.760
win-win contract is going to come into
0:37:56.560,0:38:01.440
play um disney didn’t pick its cards it
0:37:59.760,0:38:03.839
was dealt the free
0:38:01.440,0:38:06.560
uh the free guy card it didn’t want to
0:38:03.839,0:38:09.119
lock horns with johansen in the legal
0:38:06.560,0:38:10.800
battle that it now finds itself and now
0:38:09.119,0:38:13.119
because of that
0:38:10.800,0:38:15.839
now it’s possibly going to lose the
0:38:13.119,0:38:18.240
tower of terror themed movie as well
0:38:15.839,0:38:20.800
because her production company was going
0:38:18.240,0:38:23.440
to be doing that um
0:38:20.800,0:38:26.400
so everything you know is kind of up in
0:38:23.440,0:38:27.599
the air and as the mandalorian says on
0:38:26.400,0:38:29.839
disney plus
0:38:27.599,0:38:32.400
this is the way yeah
0:38:29.839,0:38:35.440
and this is the the kind of that
0:38:32.400,0:38:36.560
influx period that we had talked about
0:38:35.440,0:38:38.640
where
0:38:36.560,0:38:40.640
this was going to happen i think
0:38:38.640,0:38:42.800
regardless because of this push to
0:38:40.640,0:38:45.200
digital streaming
0:38:42.800,0:38:46.880
but the pandemic kind of forced it a lot
0:38:45.200,0:38:48.240
sooner than anybody was related
0:38:46.880,0:38:49.440
absolutely
0:38:48.240,0:38:51.359
um so
0:38:49.440,0:38:53.280
you know this is the way things aren’t
0:38:51.359,0:38:55.440
moving forward now we’re gonna we’re
0:38:53.280,0:38:57.200
gonna adjust to it just say same way we
0:38:55.440,0:38:59.520
did you know when
0:38:57.200,0:39:01.839
hbo first came out and started getting
0:38:59.520,0:39:03.119
movies over your cable box and stuff it
0:39:01.839,0:39:05.119
the entire
0:39:03.119,0:39:07.200
movie industry was up in arms there
0:39:05.119,0:39:08.560
right they struggled and it survived
0:39:07.200,0:39:10.400
yeah they struggled to deal with it
0:39:08.560,0:39:13.200
right and compensate for it and then you
0:39:10.400,0:39:15.200
came up with new rules around it
0:39:13.200,0:39:17.040
i’m not worried about disney i’m not
0:39:15.200,0:39:18.560
worried about the studios all the people
0:39:17.040,0:39:21.200
that were making money before are going
0:39:18.560,0:39:24.079
to continue making money
0:39:21.200,0:39:25.839
how we digest this stuff right is really
0:39:24.079,0:39:28.480
what’s up in the air and and that’s the
0:39:25.839,0:39:31.680
thing is i think now
0:39:28.480,0:39:33.200
being able to choose how you want to
0:39:31.680,0:39:36.880
view it
0:39:33.200,0:39:38.880
is a nice option to to have if you want
0:39:36.880,0:39:41.920
to pay 30
0:39:38.880,0:39:45.359
or 15 or whatever the premium amount is
0:39:41.920,0:39:47.760
because uh hbo max it was 15 for the
0:39:45.359,0:39:49.680
month and it was like one movie per
0:39:47.760,0:39:52.160
month was coming out so
0:39:49.680,0:39:54.400
you know so you could kind of subscribe
0:39:52.160,0:39:57.520
unsubscribe scroll you know so basically
0:39:54.400,0:39:59.680
you were paying 15 for that one movie or
0:39:57.520,0:40:02.720
disney doing 30
0:39:59.680,0:40:05.119
you figure if a family of four was going
0:40:02.720,0:40:07.440
to the movie theater you’d be spending a
0:40:05.119,0:40:09.119
whole lot more plus the food the drink
0:40:07.440,0:40:10.880
and whatever but that’s the problem see
0:40:09.119,0:40:12.400
and then your theater industry says well
0:40:10.880,0:40:14.480
we’re missing out on all this money
0:40:12.400,0:40:17.520
right but the other thing too is there
0:40:14.480,0:40:19.520
are people that they prefer
0:40:17.520,0:40:22.480
to go to a theater to watch the movie
0:40:19.520,0:40:25.520
because they want the whole immersion
0:40:22.480,0:40:27.280
they want nothing from the outside world
0:40:25.520,0:40:30.000
they don’t want
0:40:27.280,0:40:32.240
you know the the neighbor’s dog barking
0:40:30.000,0:40:34.880
or the lawnmower going off or the phone
0:40:32.240,0:40:36.480
ringing or this and that you know they
0:40:34.880,0:40:38.960
want to be
0:40:36.480,0:40:40.720
immersed and some people enjoy going to
0:40:38.960,0:40:42.720
the movie theater
0:40:40.720,0:40:44.880
with you know total strangers that are
0:40:42.720,0:40:47.440
in it so that they can
0:40:44.880,0:40:49.599
have that that all that moment together
0:40:47.440,0:40:51.359
that i mean there’s definitely a demand
0:40:49.599,0:40:54.319
for both mediums
0:40:51.359,0:40:56.960
that you have is the rules do not
0:40:54.319,0:40:59.280
apply right now to the streaming so this
0:40:56.960,0:41:00.800
is why you have situations like
0:40:59.280,0:41:03.359
scarlett johansson because her
0:41:00.800,0:41:05.599
compensation package was tied to a
0:41:03.359,0:41:07.599
theater exclusivity right
0:41:05.599,0:41:08.560
and
0:41:07.599,0:41:10.480
you’re going to have to change your
0:41:08.560,0:41:12.240
compensation packages now right forward
0:41:10.480,0:41:14.240
are you going to give your your talent a
0:41:12.240,0:41:16.640
larger cut of your streaming
0:41:14.240,0:41:17.920
service now right i don’t know if disney
0:41:16.640,0:41:20.079
plus has been around long enough for
0:41:17.920,0:41:21.200
them to determine if that’s economically
0:41:20.079,0:41:23.040
feasible
0:41:21.200,0:41:25.520
and if it is what percentage can they
0:41:23.040,0:41:27.440
sacrifice to keep the talent happy right
0:41:25.520,0:41:29.359
it’s just too new for them to do their
0:41:27.440,0:41:31.119
economics on it right and and that’s the
0:41:29.359,0:41:33.200
thing is it was going to happen to
0:41:31.119,0:41:34.960
somebody somebody was going to get
0:41:33.200,0:41:36.079
screwed out of the deal
0:41:34.960,0:41:38.400
no matter
0:41:36.079,0:41:39.920
well and that’s the thing had this not
0:41:38.400,0:41:41.599
been forced down people’s throats
0:41:39.920,0:41:43.200
because of the pandemic
0:41:41.599,0:41:44.880
you could have brought your streaming
0:41:43.200,0:41:47.119
service out yeah
0:41:44.880,0:41:48.960
not affected your theatrical releases
0:41:47.119,0:41:51.280
seeing what your income was from that
0:41:48.960,0:41:53.040
and then started to decide
0:41:51.280,0:41:54.880
okay we’re going to bring theatrical
0:41:53.040,0:41:57.200
releases to streaming now and here’s our
0:41:54.880,0:41:59.839
compensation package right
0:41:57.200,0:42:02.000
and you you know the pandemic one more
0:41:59.839,0:42:03.760
thing the pandemic screwed up right well
0:42:02.000,0:42:06.800
and the other thing too is free guy
0:42:03.760,0:42:09.200
that’s been in the can for years
0:42:06.800,0:42:11.200
that was supposed to come out years ago
0:42:09.200,0:42:12.560
and because of the acquisition and
0:42:11.200,0:42:15.359
because of
0:42:12.560,0:42:17.599
the pandemic it got shelved because i
0:42:15.359,0:42:19.760
remember seeing attractions for this to
0:42:17.599,0:42:21.440
a certain extent as well right and then
0:42:19.760,0:42:24.480
and that was the thing because disney
0:42:21.440,0:42:25.760
had so many things in the can that they
0:42:24.480,0:42:27.280
finally got to the point okay well let’s
0:42:25.760,0:42:28.880
put this out let’s put this out because
0:42:27.280,0:42:30.720
every movie that they have they’re in
0:42:28.880,0:42:33.280
the hole for at this point right so at
0:42:30.720,0:42:34.960
least if they released it on streaming
0:42:33.280,0:42:36.880
they were at least making
0:42:34.960,0:42:39.040
something somebody probably should have
0:42:36.880,0:42:41.040
looked at the contract with johannesburg
0:42:39.040,0:42:42.880
oh absolutely stop streaming though
0:42:41.040,0:42:45.520
absolutely so
0:42:42.880,0:42:47.839
tell us answer that eternal question of
0:42:45.520,0:42:49.839
if you build it will they come so we
0:42:47.839,0:42:51.920
don’t normally talk sports that’s
0:42:49.839,0:42:54.640
usually not something that we we’ve ever
0:42:51.920,0:42:57.599
really brought up before in in any of
0:42:54.640,0:42:58.560
our uh topics but this was just such a
0:42:57.599,0:43:02.079
cool
0:42:58.560,0:43:05.119
story that came out um so
0:43:02.079,0:43:06.800
in iowa a bus carrying the new york
0:43:05.119,0:43:09.680
yankees through the cornfields
0:43:06.800,0:43:12.800
blanketing the serene rolling farmland
0:43:09.680,0:43:14.640
of northwest iowa one of the players
0:43:12.800,0:43:17.520
noticed a difference from the usual
0:43:14.640,0:43:19.920
arrival in the next city the ride to
0:43:17.520,0:43:22.000
field of dream site to play the chicago
0:43:19.920,0:43:23.760
white sox on thursday night had
0:43:22.000,0:43:26.400
everyone’s attention like a bunch of
0:43:23.760,0:43:28.079
kids who couldn’t believe what they were
0:43:26.400,0:43:30.240
getting to do
0:43:28.079,0:43:32.160
uh they said it was the first time
0:43:30.240,0:43:34.240
people had their headphones out and they
0:43:32.160,0:43:36.319
were just glued to the windows checking
0:43:34.240,0:43:38.240
out the scenery we had a lot of guys
0:43:36.319,0:43:40.400
from different countries who really
0:43:38.240,0:43:43.599
haven’t seen the country like this or
0:43:40.400,0:43:46.240
guys from big cities who had never seen
0:43:43.599,0:43:48.560
an open field or stuff like this it was
0:43:46.240,0:43:50.880
just so it was pretty cool driving in
0:43:48.560,0:43:52.720
and seeing everybody in town kind of
0:43:50.880,0:43:56.880
standing on the side of the roads with
0:43:52.720,0:44:00.079
signs cheering us on so this made for tv
0:43:56.880,0:44:02.960
event was delayed a year due to covid
0:44:00.079,0:44:05.440
and had been billed as the first major
0:44:02.960,0:44:07.520
league baseball game in the state that’s
0:44:05.440,0:44:10.880
usually focused on college or community
0:44:07.520,0:44:13.280
sports and it was spotlighting uh by
0:44:10.880,0:44:16.960
presidential campaigns and fueled by the
0:44:13.280,0:44:21.440
uh the hog and grain industry um
0:44:16.960,0:44:21.440
so aaron judd i believe was
0:44:21.520,0:44:24.240
yes um
0:44:22.920,0:44:27.760
[Music]
0:44:24.240,0:44:31.599
sorry yeah aaron judge i i knew that um
0:44:27.760,0:44:34.480
had said that um it provided for a pair
0:44:31.599,0:44:37.520
of picture-perfect images launching two
0:44:34.480,0:44:39.119
long drives into the corn stalks
0:44:37.520,0:44:41.119
tim anderson
0:44:39.119,0:44:44.079
hit his eighth homer of the game and a
0:44:41.119,0:44:46.400
two run liner in the ninth inning that
0:44:44.079,0:44:49.040
lifted the white sox over the yankees in
0:44:46.400,0:44:50.720
a nine to eight thriller anderson
0:44:49.040,0:44:52.880
delivered a hollywood ending too
0:44:50.720,0:44:55.599
circling the bases and fireworks
0:44:52.880,0:44:58.160
exploded so what if it was more of the
0:44:55.599,0:45:00.079
natural than field of dreams uh the
0:44:58.160,0:45:01.920
commissioner of baseball actually had
0:45:00.079,0:45:05.359
said that this would not be just a
0:45:01.920,0:45:07.920
one-time visit he confirmed that field
0:45:05.359,0:45:10.880
of dream a field of dreams game would be
0:45:07.920,0:45:13.520
returning in august of 2022
0:45:10.880,0:45:15.760
with the teams to be determined so the
0:45:13.520,0:45:18.319
made from scratch stadium was built to
0:45:15.760,0:45:20.480
hold 8 000 fans to watch the white sox
0:45:18.319,0:45:24.319
and the yankees play in one of the most
0:45:20.480,0:45:26.800
anticipated mid-august games in history
0:45:24.319,0:45:29.200
and it was actually placed
0:45:26.800,0:45:32.720
not too far from where the actual
0:45:29.200,0:45:36.960
diamond was for the 1989
0:45:32.720,0:45:39.440
the 1989 film starring kevin costner um
0:45:36.960,0:45:41.760
and what was really cool about it was
0:45:39.440,0:45:43.680
kevin costner actually came back for
0:45:41.760,0:45:46.880
this kind of stealing the scene of the
0:45:43.680,0:45:48.960
show with this slow ponderous stroll out
0:45:46.880,0:45:51.119
into the field um just like his
0:45:48.960,0:45:52.800
character from the movie did and he
0:45:51.119,0:45:54.800
basically you know
0:45:52.800,0:45:57.680
stopped and
0:45:54.800,0:45:59.440
you know as he was talking the real
0:45:57.680,0:46:02.000
players from the white sox and the
0:45:59.440,0:46:05.359
yankees emerged from the cornfield as
0:46:02.000,0:46:07.520
well so it was a very hollywood movie
0:46:05.359,0:46:10.240
moment that you know
0:46:07.520,0:46:13.599
kind of got you all teary died um just
0:46:10.240,0:46:16.240
how cool you know it was um
0:46:13.599,0:46:19.599
white sox slugger um
0:46:16.240,0:46:21.920
jose abreu had delivered an instant
0:46:19.599,0:46:24.160
highlight for the first inning hitting a
0:46:21.920,0:46:26.720
line drive that zipped over the fence in
0:46:24.160,0:46:29.440
left field and vanished into the corn
0:46:26.720,0:46:32.720
judges connected for a three run smash
0:46:29.440,0:46:33.839
in the third and uh two run drive in the
0:46:32.720,0:46:35.839
ninth
0:46:33.839,0:46:38.240
neither was a can of corn because they
0:46:35.839,0:46:40.319
both flew far away
0:46:38.240,0:46:42.640
so there were rows upon rows of corn
0:46:40.319,0:46:44.720
between the two fields in fact
0:46:42.640,0:46:46.960
in the same spot where shoeless joe
0:46:44.720,0:46:50.319
jackson and his pals appeared and
0:46:46.960,0:46:53.040
disappeared through uh during the film
0:46:50.319,0:46:55.200
uh you know the players were talking
0:46:53.040,0:46:57.359
about you know as a kid you always
0:46:55.200,0:47:00.560
wanted to go and visit and here they
0:46:57.359,0:47:02.160
actually had the opportunity to to do it
0:47:00.560,0:47:05.040
the other cool thing is that there’s
0:47:02.160,0:47:07.359
actually a corn maze that’s kind of
0:47:05.040,0:47:08.480
built throughout it and they actually
0:47:07.359,0:47:10.800
told
0:47:08.480,0:47:12.240
the players to be careful not to walk
0:47:10.800,0:47:15.359
through the maze because they didn’t
0:47:12.240,0:47:18.319
want them to get lost before going and
0:47:15.359,0:47:20.800
playing uh the game uh they said it was
0:47:18.319,0:47:22.960
just such a cool experience having all
0:47:20.800,0:47:25.839
of the fans there was just so cool and
0:47:22.960,0:47:29.040
just kind of emerging uh you know was
0:47:25.839,0:47:31.280
just very iconic so uh even if you
0:47:29.040,0:47:34.240
weren’t a fan of baseball just being
0:47:31.280,0:47:36.800
able to watch this was just a very cool
0:47:34.240,0:47:39.440
event yeah it was neat and when they did
0:47:36.800,0:47:41.280
it it was i mean it was cinematic the
0:47:39.440,0:47:43.359
way they did oh absolutely they had the
0:47:41.280,0:47:44.480
soundtrack of the movie playing over top
0:47:43.359,0:47:47.280
of it
0:47:44.480,0:47:48.240
they had they had set up cameras that
0:47:47.280,0:47:52.559
were
0:47:48.240,0:47:54.720
panoramic um line cameras so they were
0:47:52.559,0:47:57.040
spinning around the entire field i mean
0:47:54.720,0:47:59.040
it was literally set up to be a movie
0:47:57.040,0:48:01.280
production oh absolutely the way they
0:47:59.040,0:48:03.040
the way they did it and just
0:48:01.280,0:48:04.800
you know they captured it the way that
0:48:03.040,0:48:06.160
they dig there’s a couple of areas where
0:48:04.800,0:48:07.760
it kind of falls flat like you got a
0:48:06.160,0:48:10.240
piece of fencing out there so the people
0:48:07.760,0:48:12.960
with the cameras are hidden right right
0:48:10.240,0:48:15.280
um but it you know they came out in the
0:48:12.960,0:48:18.000
vintage uniform right and that added to
0:48:15.280,0:48:20.640
it you know as well and it was just a
0:48:18.000,0:48:22.720
gorgeous gorgeous venue i mean literally
0:48:20.640,0:48:24.720
it’s a stone’s throw from the the actual
0:48:22.720,0:48:26.240
field right when they do you know kind
0:48:24.720,0:48:28.400
of uh
0:48:26.240,0:48:30.480
an aerial shot you can actually see the
0:48:28.400,0:48:32.480
original field which is still there and
0:48:30.480,0:48:35.359
that’s what’s kind of cool too is that
0:48:32.480,0:48:36.960
that field is still there as well so
0:48:35.359,0:48:38.880
yeah and what was what was really
0:48:36.960,0:48:39.920
interesting was they they built this
0:48:38.880,0:48:42.240
field
0:48:39.920,0:48:45.200
uh major league baseball built a field
0:48:42.240,0:48:47.359
for an audience of about 8 000 people
0:48:45.200,0:48:50.160
right because they put the stands in
0:48:47.359,0:48:51.760
the residents of dyersville
0:48:50.160,0:48:53.920
are um
0:48:51.760,0:48:56.000
a total of about 4 000
0:48:53.920,0:48:58.000
and they all had first choice for the
0:48:56.000,0:49:02.079
open public seating that was available
0:48:58.000,0:49:03.359
nice so they gave and and you had people
0:49:02.079,0:49:05.920
that were
0:49:03.359,0:49:08.079
from the original movie
0:49:05.920,0:49:09.520
okay or they’re like a costuming group
0:49:08.079,0:49:12.079
okay and they come out in the vintage
0:49:09.520,0:49:14.319
uniforms so you had those folks okay to
0:49:12.079,0:49:16.319
lend you know the ghost players the
0:49:14.319,0:49:18.480
ghost players okay right right so they
0:49:16.319,0:49:20.240
were there too yeah so it was just it
0:49:18.480,0:49:21.440
was really really well done and they’ve
0:49:20.240,0:49:23.440
already announced they’re going to be
0:49:21.440,0:49:26.720
probably doing this ever right they said
0:49:23.440,0:49:28.319
august of 2022 but different teams
0:49:26.720,0:49:30.559
would be playing i think that would be
0:49:28.319,0:49:33.520
cool and again if it’s teams that have
0:49:30.559,0:49:35.440
been around to do their vintage costumes
0:49:33.520,0:49:38.480
i think that i think that would be the
0:49:35.440,0:49:40.559
thing is if you keep it the vintage game
0:49:38.480,0:49:43.520
yeah that would be kind of cool that was
0:49:40.559,0:49:45.599
neat yeah well and they did say that the
0:49:43.520,0:49:47.200
seats that were up for sale
0:49:45.599,0:49:49.839
were going for around seven thousand
0:49:47.200,0:49:51.040
dollars a ticket wow
0:49:49.839,0:49:52.000
so
0:49:51.040,0:49:54.160
um
0:49:52.000,0:49:55.680
but not an nbc in the house though yeah
0:49:54.160,0:49:58.640
so yeah
0:49:55.680,0:50:00.400
anyway very cool story yeah very cool
0:49:58.640,0:50:02.800
and uh that was all we had for
0:50:00.400,0:50:05.920
entertainment news right yep we’ll be
0:50:02.800,0:50:09.319
back uh in a minute with our insightful
0:50:05.920,0:50:09.319
picks of the week
0:50:11.150,0:50:13.200
[Applause]
0:50:11.960,0:50:15.680
[Music]
0:50:13.200,0:50:17.839
go for your insightful pick so my
0:50:15.680,0:50:21.040
insightful pick happens to be a show
0:50:17.839,0:50:23.359
that was on apple tv not not one that i
0:50:21.040,0:50:26.559
would watch something on apple tv you
0:50:23.359,0:50:28.240
normally do that’s amazing but it was a
0:50:26.559,0:50:29.839
show that i had heard about and then
0:50:28.240,0:50:31.760
once i heard that it was going to be on
0:50:29.839,0:50:34.480
apple tv i was like oh we got to renew
0:50:31.760,0:50:37.200
our subscription so i can watch this and
0:50:34.480,0:50:40.079
it is called schmigadoon
0:50:37.200,0:50:42.640
so two new york doctors melissa and josh
0:50:40.079,0:50:45.280
go on a backpacking trip in an attempt
0:50:42.640,0:50:47.920
to patch up their failing relationship
0:50:45.280,0:50:50.319
only to find themselves still arguing
0:50:47.920,0:50:53.440
they get lost and soon discover a
0:50:50.319,0:50:56.160
magical town called shmigadoon which is
0:50:53.440,0:50:58.960
perpetually trapped in a golden age
0:50:56.160,0:51:01.359
style musical and soon learned that they
0:50:58.960,0:51:04.480
cannot leave town until they find true
0:51:01.359,0:51:08.640
love which they thought they already had
0:51:04.480,0:51:10.160
so it’s a very interesting take on
0:51:08.640,0:51:12.000
the
0:51:10.160,0:51:13.520
1940s
0:51:12.000,0:51:16.720
um
0:51:13.520,0:51:19.200
musical movie musical uh broadway
0:51:16.720,0:51:22.800
musical style um
0:51:19.200,0:51:24.160
but yet the two of them are you know in
0:51:22.800,0:51:26.000
current day
0:51:24.160,0:51:27.920
fashion where everybody that they
0:51:26.000,0:51:29.280
encounter in the town you know they
0:51:27.920,0:51:32.160
don’t know what a cell phone is they
0:51:29.280,0:51:33.680
don’t know what a movie is uh so they
0:51:32.160,0:51:35.440
keep trying to
0:51:33.680,0:51:36.480
um you know
0:51:35.440,0:51:38.000
kind of
0:51:36.480,0:51:40.640
inform the
0:51:38.000,0:51:43.920
the townspeople of things that they’re
0:51:40.640,0:51:46.319
used to um you know like they’re both
0:51:43.920,0:51:49.440
doctors well in
0:51:46.319,0:51:52.400
this area of town you know there’s only
0:51:49.440,0:51:54.319
men doctors and the women are nurses and
0:51:52.400,0:51:56.880
the women are the school teachers and
0:51:54.319,0:52:01.440
you know that that whole 1940s
0:51:56.880,0:52:03.760
thing um so it’s interesting because um
0:52:01.440,0:52:05.119
the the character of melissa she’s a fan
0:52:03.760,0:52:08.079
of movie
0:52:05.119,0:52:10.480
of the musicals so she kind of picks out
0:52:08.079,0:52:12.240
oh this person is like from carousel and
0:52:10.480,0:52:14.240
this person is like from the music man
0:52:12.240,0:52:17.520
and you know so she’s kind of using her
0:52:14.240,0:52:20.720
knowledge of of broadway shows to kind
0:52:17.520,0:52:24.880
of help navigate to try and get them
0:52:20.720,0:52:26.480
to finally leave the town um where josh
0:52:24.880,0:52:28.079
is like totally against it he’s like i’m
0:52:26.480,0:52:29.680
not going to sing a song and it was like
0:52:28.079,0:52:30.960
no you have to sing a song if you don’t
0:52:29.680,0:52:32.400
sing a song we’re not going to be able
0:52:30.960,0:52:35.119
to get to the next
0:52:32.400,0:52:37.680
uh you know the next scene or something
0:52:35.119,0:52:39.200
and of course in the end they
0:52:37.680,0:52:40.480
hopefully find true love because of
0:52:39.200,0:52:42.400
course they kind of left it with a
0:52:40.480,0:52:45.359
little cliffhanger do they actually
0:52:42.400,0:52:47.280
leave or don’t they um so at this time i
0:52:45.359,0:52:50.880
don’t know if it’s been renewed for a
0:52:47.280,0:52:52.960
second season they could totally do one
0:52:50.880,0:52:54.000
um but if they kind of left it as a one
0:52:52.960,0:52:55.920
and done
0:52:54.000,0:52:57.920
it would work as well so if you’re a fan
0:52:55.920,0:53:00.000
of the quirky
0:52:57.920,0:53:02.079
uh you know broadway musical type thing
0:53:00.000,0:53:03.040
or even if you’re not because they poke
0:53:02.079,0:53:05.200
fun
0:53:03.040,0:53:06.720
at it too so it it you know it’s
0:53:05.200,0:53:09.200
something i think if we went back and
0:53:06.720,0:53:12.160
and you watched it with me i think you’d
0:53:09.200,0:53:15.800
have a good laugh at it too so okay good
0:53:12.160,0:53:15.800
pick thank you
0:53:16.440,0:53:18.559
[Applause]
0:53:17.250,0:53:20.800
[Music]
0:53:18.559,0:53:23.920
so my pick this week
0:53:20.800,0:53:26.240
is a new show that just premiered last
0:53:23.920,0:53:28.079
week we were only one episode in it’s
0:53:26.240,0:53:29.440
actually king second episode came out
0:53:28.079,0:53:32.240
today
0:53:29.440,0:53:34.480
it is marvel’s what the
0:53:32.240,0:53:35.760
marvel’s what if i’m sorry marvel’s what
0:53:34.480,0:53:38.880
if
0:53:35.760,0:53:41.520
what if flips the script on the mcu
0:53:38.880,0:53:43.520
reimagining famous events from the films
0:53:41.520,0:53:45.760
in unexpected ways
0:53:43.520,0:53:49.280
marvel studios first animated series
0:53:45.760,0:53:51.200
focuses on different heroes from the mcu
0:53:49.280,0:53:54.480
featuring a voice cast that includes a
0:53:51.200,0:53:57.280
host of stars who reprise their roles
0:53:54.480,0:54:00.000
following the creation of the multiverse
0:53:57.280,0:54:02.720
in loki’s first season finale
0:54:00.000,0:54:05.440
what if explores the various alternate
0:54:02.720,0:54:07.119
timelines of the multi multiverse
0:54:05.440,0:54:09.599
in which major moments from the marvel
0:54:07.119,0:54:11.119
cinematic universe films occur
0:54:09.599,0:54:13.040
differently
0:54:11.119,0:54:14.400
the first season of what if premiered on
0:54:13.040,0:54:16.480
august 11th
0:54:14.400,0:54:19.760
and will consist of nine episodes
0:54:16.480,0:54:23.119
including uh concluding on october 6th
0:54:19.760,0:54:25.359
it’s part of phase four of the mcu
0:54:23.119,0:54:27.599
uh a second nine episode season is
0:54:25.359,0:54:30.400
already in development
0:54:27.599,0:54:32.000
only one episode in we as a family are
0:54:30.400,0:54:35.040
already hooked
0:54:32.000,0:54:37.920
the animation and action sequences are
0:54:35.040,0:54:40.079
amazingly fluid and lifelike the
0:54:37.920,0:54:42.000
alternate storyline of the first episode
0:54:40.079,0:54:44.319
was fantastic i won’t give away any
0:54:42.000,0:54:46.000
spoilers
0:54:44.319,0:54:47.920
and it left us wanting to see a live
0:54:46.000,0:54:49.920
action movie version of the events
0:54:47.920,0:54:52.640
depicted in the episode it did center
0:54:49.920,0:54:54.720
around the events that happened in uh
0:54:52.640,0:54:56.480
captain america the first avenger and i
0:54:54.720,0:54:58.000
think everyone is already aware of that
0:54:56.480,0:55:00.000
they’ve got the spoilers up on their
0:54:58.000,0:55:01.680
site
0:55:00.000,0:55:04.000
there’s so much potential for this type
0:55:01.680,0:55:06.400
of show and the method of storytelling
0:55:04.000,0:55:08.160
that they’ve chosen to use here we’re
0:55:06.400,0:55:09.920
eager to see the rest of the serie what
0:55:08.160,0:55:11.520
the rest of the series has to offer and
0:55:09.920,0:55:13.839
are anticipating
0:55:11.520,0:55:16.400
the touching return of chadwick boseman
0:55:13.839,0:55:18.160
in his last portrayal of t’challa before
0:55:16.400,0:55:20.319
his untimely death
0:55:18.160,0:55:22.319
and that is actually slated for this
0:55:20.319,0:55:24.240
week’s episode yeah
0:55:22.319,0:55:26.160
um on a side note one of the things that
0:55:24.240,0:55:27.680
we did pick up for that and we’ll give
0:55:26.160,0:55:31.440
you a
0:55:27.680,0:55:33.040
cameo for that you want to grab it sure
0:55:31.440,0:55:36.720
so one of the things that did come out
0:55:33.040,0:55:39.520
for that and uh michelle is a avid fan
0:55:36.720,0:55:41.760
of pops and that is
0:55:39.520,0:55:44.720
the lead characters from this week’s
0:55:41.760,0:55:45.760
episode in the pop form
0:55:44.720,0:55:47.040
so
0:55:45.760,0:55:49.040
let’s see a better picture yeah that’s
0:55:47.040,0:55:51.760
probably a better shot there
0:55:49.040,0:55:52.799
so it’s captain carter and the hydra
0:55:51.760,0:55:54.799
stomper
0:55:52.799,0:55:56.559
hydra stopper sounds like he goes around
0:55:54.799,0:55:58.480
stepping on
0:55:56.559,0:56:00.000
hydro hydrogen yeah
0:55:58.480,0:56:02.319
fire hydrants so
0:56:00.000,0:56:06.160
yeah this happens to be an amazon
0:56:02.319,0:56:09.440
exclusive yes it is so yes i am a
0:56:06.160,0:56:13.040
collector of certain pops and who is the
0:56:09.440,0:56:15.119
uh the best husband in the world now for
0:56:13.040,0:56:17.040
that thank you you are it’s not too
0:56:15.119,0:56:19.119
often i get to toot my own horn but toot
0:56:17.040,0:56:21.280
toot on that one
0:56:19.119,0:56:23.200
uh because you wanted the action figure
0:56:21.280,0:56:24.880
right not available they’re not coming
0:56:23.200,0:56:26.079
out until february which is that would
0:56:24.880,0:56:27.920
be rough
0:56:26.079,0:56:31.680
so that’s what i think the pop is cuter
0:56:27.920,0:56:34.400
anyways i do too so that is my pick
0:56:31.680,0:56:36.960
disney’s marvel cinematic universe’s
0:56:34.400,0:56:40.079
what if on disney plus we’ll be right
0:56:36.960,0:56:40.079
back with some afterthoughts
0:56:41.630,0:56:45.839
[Applause]
0:56:43.359,0:56:48.640
so what are we after thinking today so
0:56:45.839,0:56:51.599
again as we had mentioned if you have
0:56:48.640,0:56:54.559
local shows in your area that you want
0:56:51.599,0:56:57.280
us to to give a shout out for please let
0:56:54.559,0:56:59.599
us know so we can put them into our our
0:56:57.280,0:57:01.440
notes so we have the carnival of
0:56:59.599,0:57:04.000
collectibles which will be september
0:57:01.440,0:57:05.440
11th um at the
0:57:04.000,0:57:07.520
uh
0:57:05.440,0:57:10.000
it’s a free toy show that’s at the
0:57:07.520,0:57:10.880
carnival of collectibles again that’s a
0:57:10.000,0:57:14.240
very
0:57:10.880,0:57:14.960
unique interesting shopping experience
0:57:14.240,0:57:17.280
all
0:57:14.960,0:57:19.920
on its own so with a little toy show
0:57:17.280,0:57:21.640
added not a bad day
0:57:19.920,0:57:24.880
also hosted by
0:57:21.640,0:57:27.440
toyshows.org is the delaware train show
0:57:24.880,0:57:30.559
and the oktoberfest toy show
0:57:27.440,0:57:32.319
october 9th and 10th that’s the one that
0:57:30.559,0:57:35.359
is held in
0:57:32.319,0:57:38.160
newcastle delaware at the nurse shrine
0:57:35.359,0:57:41.359
center one of our favorite locations to
0:57:38.160,0:57:44.240
go to for the toy show um and then
0:57:41.359,0:57:48.640
september 25th and 26th at the greater
0:57:44.240,0:57:51.680
philadelphia expo center retro con
0:57:48.640,0:57:54.000
another fan favorite uh of ours uh
0:57:51.680,0:57:55.119
that’s done very well
0:57:54.000,0:57:58.480
lots of
0:57:55.119,0:57:59.440
retro toys and collectibles some new
0:57:58.480,0:58:02.720
stuff
0:57:59.440,0:58:04.160
um shows up there as well lots of pops
0:58:02.720,0:58:06.319
usually
0:58:04.160,0:58:08.559
they usually have the 5.0 first is
0:58:06.319,0:58:10.319
usually there with a little setup and
0:58:08.559,0:58:11.920
they do have a couple of celebrities
0:58:10.319,0:58:13.119
that that show all the costuming groups
0:58:11.920,0:58:16.079
that’s where
0:58:13.119,0:58:18.160
uh gi joe costuming group shows up right
0:58:16.079,0:58:19.920
right couple of vehicles are usually
0:58:18.160,0:58:22.000
there
0:58:19.920,0:58:23.520
right so a couple of different uh
0:58:22.000,0:58:25.839
celebrities are there
0:58:23.520,0:58:28.079
gil gerard there from buck rogers right
0:58:25.839,0:58:31.040
and they they do a couple little panels
0:58:28.079,0:58:32.559
too so not huge um so it’ll be
0:58:31.040,0:58:34.960
interesting to see
0:58:32.559,0:58:38.000
um you know how they they handle it i
0:58:34.960,0:58:40.319
think sunday they do a costume contest
0:58:38.000,0:58:42.559
and i think saturday they do a retro
0:58:40.319,0:58:43.760
t-shirt contest or something if you go
0:58:42.559,0:58:46.000
to their website there’s more
0:58:43.760,0:58:48.559
information and as it gets closer we’ll
0:58:46.000,0:58:50.880
give a little bit more out
0:58:48.559,0:58:53.680
then this past weekend you had the one
0:58:50.880,0:58:57.040
monster mania but then in september the
0:58:53.680,0:59:00.400
24th through the 26th in hunt valley
0:58:57.040,0:59:02.240
maryland will be monster mania 47
0:59:00.400,0:59:04.240
and then october
0:59:02.240,0:59:06.640
moving to oaks for the first time is
0:59:04.240,0:59:09.280
monster mania 48
0:59:06.640,0:59:11.040
which would be very interesting to see
0:59:09.280,0:59:12.319
because it’s not a venue that they
0:59:11.040,0:59:14.640
normally
0:59:12.319,0:59:16.480
hold it at unless it’s 120 degrees and
0:59:14.640,0:59:18.480
they do it and they do it outside so
0:59:16.480,0:59:21.520
completely different
0:59:18.480,0:59:23.599
and then in the first weekend of october
0:59:21.520,0:59:26.799
also at the greater philadelphia expo
0:59:23.599,0:59:29.520
center is brick fest so if you have
0:59:26.799,0:59:33.359
little ones or you are into legos this
0:59:29.520,0:59:35.599
is a very cool event to go and see
0:59:33.359,0:59:37.839
uh who’s in the legos who’s into legos
0:59:35.599,0:59:39.760
event nicole brown oh is she yes are you
0:59:37.839,0:59:42.000
gonna invite her she got one for for her
0:59:39.760,0:59:44.240
birthday that she posted on instagram
0:59:42.000,0:59:46.079
twitter you are such a name dropper
0:59:44.240,0:59:48.240
you’re so funny well you should tell her
0:59:46.079,0:59:51.440
hey why don’t you come to philly
0:59:48.240,0:59:53.280
because brickfest is is coming well next
0:59:51.440,0:59:55.040
time i talk to raleigh okay you let her
0:59:53.280,0:59:57.200
know and tell her that we might be there
0:59:55.040,1:00:00.240
one of those two days so again
0:59:57.200,1:00:02.000
really kind of a cool event uh hard to
1:00:00.240,1:00:04.640
find legos
1:00:02.000,1:00:06.000
are usually being sold there along with
1:00:04.640,1:00:08.079
current ones
1:00:06.000,1:00:09.920
and you know displays from the the
1:00:08.079,1:00:12.799
tiniest little thing
1:00:09.920,1:00:14.640
up into big giant you know destroyers
1:00:12.799,1:00:16.240
star destroyer displays
1:00:14.640,1:00:18.400
and that’s it it was a life-size star
1:00:16.240,1:00:21.599
destroyer too yes it was if you were
1:00:18.400,1:00:24.160
really small a really small lego guy uh
1:00:21.599,1:00:26.240
so anyway that’s all we got we’ll uh
1:00:24.160,1:00:29.839
i guess once we get into september we’ll
1:00:26.240,1:00:29.839
rotate into the next yeah
1:00:30.000,1:00:34.319
we have november and december november
1:00:32.079,1:00:38.160
and december yeah we’re running out of
1:00:34.319,1:00:41.119
time in this year oh my god so anyway i
1:00:38.160,1:00:43.119
think that was it right before we go um
1:00:41.119,1:00:45.200
i would once again
1:00:43.119,1:00:48.000
