- Disneyland reveals which COVID-era changes will stay, which will go
- https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2021-06-18/disneyland-california-adventure-capacity-masks-annual-pass?_amp=true&__twitter_impression=true&fbclid=IwAR2oyoWso3sKmnWSSt6J2R7GoH6u5cHVjQ9KT0kBpszhlDoZ-RjGN9JzSuk

- The pre-pandemic version of Disneyland might be gone forever.
- California lifted most of its coronavirus safety restrictions this week, and the parks at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim are continuing to reopen in phases
- But a handful of the COVID-era changes are going to stick.
- “I don’t want to say we are going to go back to the way it was,” Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said Thursday about managing the parks.
- “I want to be really smart in the way we do this.”
- With the government-imposed attendance caps and physical distance requirements gone, the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks are expected to relaunch several rides, musical acts and nighttime extravaganzas over the next few weeks and other attractions later this summer.
- In some ways, the parks will never return to pre-pandemic operations.
- Disney executives say the 15-month closure helped them rethink how best to manage one of the biggest headaches at the resort: the enormous throngs of Disney-loving visitors.
- That includes keeping in place a reservation system that was adopted to manage visitor numbers under the state-imposed capacity limits and the continued use of a virtual queuing system that was designed to give all parkgoers a shot at visiting the most popular attractions.
- The annual pass program — which was canceled in January and which experts blamed for some of the parks’ crowding problems — will be replaced with a membership program that “will reflect the behavior of our superfans,” D’Amaro said, adding that more details will be released “relatively soon.”
- Disneyland and Disney California Adventure closed in March 2020 because of the pandemic and reopened April 30 of this year under a slew of COVID-19 restrictions.
- When the state lifted most of those restrictions Tuesday, the parks largely followed suit.
- Parkgoers will no longer have their temperature taken upon entering the property.
- Parkgoers who have been fully vaccinated no longer need to wear a mask in the parks.
- And Disney won’t require proof of vaccination — visitors will just have to attest they are in compliance.
- The closure came less than a year after Disneyland opened its $1-billion Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the largest expansion in the park’s history.
- The expansion’s second and most anticipated ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, opened in January 2020 only to be shut by the pandemic two months later.
- Before the closure, the resort employed about 32,000 workers.
- D’Amaro said the resort has about 15,000 employees back at work, and he expects to hire hundreds more over the next few months.
- It remains unclear when or whether the resort will return to its pre-pandemic staffing levels.
- Since the parks reopened, attractions have been coming online in phases.
- The new land that was scheduled to open last summer — Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure — opened June 4, drawing huge attendance in the first few weeks.
- The Disneyland Band is scheduled to return Friday; other musical acts, such as the Five and Dime jazz quintet, are expected to return later this month.
- Disneyland’s Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Storybook Land Canal Boats are set to reopen next week.
- The park’s nighttime fireworks shows will return July 4.
- Parades and opportunities to meet costumed characters are expected to come back at an unspecified later date.
- The Disneyland Monorail and the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage ride remain closed, with no reopening date announced.
- Although many attractions are still offline, the parks have welcomed pre-pandemic-size crowds in the days since the state restrictions were lifted.
- Wait times for the most popular rides, such as the Indiana Jones Adventure, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Space Mountain, climbed to more than 40 minutes Thursday afternoon.
- D’Amaro attributes the recent crowd sizes to the pent-up demand of Disney fans who have been away for more than a year.
- “The yearning for the Disney experience has grown stronger over the pandemic,” he said.
- One way to manage the returning crowds, he said will be to continue requiring that ticket holders also book a reservation for the day they want to use their tickets.
- Both parks are fully booked almost every day for the next two weeks, according to the resort’s reservation calendar.
- A virtual queuing system that is managed through the Disneyland app was introduced in 2019 to manage the crowds at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
- A similar queuing system is being used for the Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure ride at Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus.
- For some weeks, the park used the ride’s queuing system to help regulate access to the campus as a whole — a measure to prevent crowding — but now park visitors can stroll into the campus at will.
- Despite social media posts from park visitors complaining about not getting access to the superhero campus in the first few days after it opened, D’Amaro said the virtual queuing system was a “solid tool” that ensured that most parkgoers were able to visit the new campus.
- “I feel like we have done a really nice job of setting up for this next era of theme park experience,” he said.
- “I feel like we have done a really nice job of setting up for this next era of theme park experience,” he said.
- The pre-pandemic version of Disneyland might be gone forever.

- June 4 marked the highly-anticipated opening day of Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort’s Disney California Adventure Park.
- Marvel fans have been waiting for this date for quite some time, and many still can’t believe they are now able to visit Disney’s first Marvel-themed land.
- From Captain Marvel to Spider-Man to Iron Man to Captain America to Black Widow and more, Avengers Campus Guests never know who is going to pop up in this immersive new Disney Parks area.
- But, to make space for Avengers Campus to be built, another land had to say goodbye. In 2018, Disneyland Resort announced it would get rid of the “A Bug’s Land” section — part of which (the It’s Tough to Be a Bug stage) opened with Disney California Adventure Park in 2001 — to make way for Marvel’s takeover.
- Walt Disney Imagineering didn’t forget about a bug’s land, however.
- They made sure to include a fun Easter egg at the new Pym Tasting Lab, designed to showcase drinks created by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas in the MCU) and, presumably, his daughter Hope (Evangeline Lilly in the MCU) and her boyfriend Scott Lang (Paul Rudd in the MCU).
- The iconic Christmas lights from the a bug’s land area proudly hang at the Tasting Lab, a reminder of what once stood where Avengers Campus is today!
- The Christmas lights look even more amazing at night
- This is a fun tribute to the former land, which was themed to Pixar’s first film, A Bug’s Life (1998).
- D23 officially describes a bug’s land as:
- an area featuring Flik’s Fun Fair, attractions for children based on A Bug’s Life, in Disney California Adventure; opened on October 7, 2002.
- The attractions are Flik’s Flyers, Tuck & Roll’s Drive ‘em Buggies, Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train, Francis’s Ladybug Boogie, and Princess Dot’s Puddle Park.
- The area encompassed the previously opened It’s Tough to Be a Bug and Bountiful Valley Farm.
- D23 officially describes a bug’s land as:
- There are also a number of other a bug’s land Easter eggs throughout Avengers Campus, proving that Disney truly didn’t want to forget about what originally stood where all of our favorite Marvel super heroes can be found today.
- Out with the old and in with the new!
- Disney officially describes the brand new Pym Tasting Lab as:
- Pym Technologies, known for their revolutionary Pym Particles, operates this advanced research and development space in Avengers Campus where they can tinker with brilliant new brewing systems.
- Now, for the first time ever, members of the public are invited to taste the results!
- Disney officially describes the brand new Pym Tasting Lab as:

- The Force will be with the Smithsonian in 2022 as the esteemed museum in Washington D.C. rolls out their latest prize artifact next year in the form of an actual “Star Wars” X-Wing fighter.
- This iconic mosquito-like spaceship prop has been generously loaned to the Smithsonian by Lucasfilm Ltd. for an indefinite period.
- “Despite taking place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, ‘Star Wars’ introduced generations of fans here on Earth to outer space as a setting for adventure and exploration,” said Margaret Weitekamp, space history chair at the museum, in a statement.
- “All air and space milestones begin with inspiration, and science fiction so often provides that spark — the iconic X-wing displayed amid our other spacecraft celebrates the journey from imagination to achievement.”
- This iconic mosquito-like spaceship prop has been generously loaned to the Smithsonian by Lucasfilm Ltd. for an indefinite period.
- It’s currently getting a proper shakedown and full conservation effort at the Restoration Hangar in Virginia beside a complement of World War II warbirds and assorted historic planes and spacecraft.
- Then sometime late next year, the sleek T-70 X-wing will go on public display at the entrance to the Albert Einstein Planetarium at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall.
- “We are thrilled to have an X-Wing on exhibit,” Weitekamp told Smithsonian Magazine.
- “It is a real screen-used vehicle from the 2019 film “Rise of Skywalker.”
- This display speaks to that crossover connection between people who are excited about space flight and have been inspired by the visions “Star Wars” has been putting out since 1977.”
- Then sometime late next year, the sleek T-70 X-wing will go on public display at the entrance to the Albert Einstein Planetarium at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall.
- The Smithsonian’s awesome new resident sports a wingspan of 37 feet (11 meters) and was carefully transported to museum caretakers in pieces by the folks at Industrial Light and Magic.
- “‘Star Wars’ is a lived-in universe,” Weitekamps told Smithsonian Magazine.
- “This is a battle-scarred X-Wing fighter.
- We want to distinguish between any scratches that occurred during shipping versus something that was built into the vehicle.
- “I was on the floor looking at it and I pointed out a place where it looked like it had what pilot’s would call ‘hangar rash.’
- That’s where you get scrape marks on the side of aircraft when they are moved around.
- I pointed it out to the conservator, who had a big smile and said, ‘No, that’s simulated. It’s part of the detail by the artist!'”
- This isn’t the first “Star Wars” dance for the Smithsonian as the museum presented a collection of screen-used props and costumes for the “Star Wars: The Magic of Myth” exhibition in 1997.
- From the moment it was initially seen in the original “Star Wars: A New Hope” in 1977, the fighter has taken flight in eight other “Star Wars” films in various incarnations, most recently in 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker” and episodes of Disney’s “The Mandalorian.”
- “This is a T-70 X-Wing,” Weitekamp told Smithsonian Magazine. “It’s the next generation. The one Luke Skywalker flew in the original trilogy was a T-65B. The big visible difference is the X-foils that split apart. Each had an engine. The T-70 was designed to include one large engine on each wing.
- When X-attack formation is deployed, the engine splits into two semi-hemispheres.”
- Stay tuned for more details as this rare X-Wing gets a fitting restoration and VIP treatment for a planned Smithsonian unveiling in 2022.

- Recent months have taken a toll on Disney’s token pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).
- First introduced in Jerry Bruckheimer’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Sparrow — and, by default, Depp himself — became synonymous with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
- So entrenched in POTC lore did the iconic role of Sparrow become, in fact, that audio-animatronic versions of him were added to Disney Parks’ Pirates of the Caribbean rides around the world.
- Actor Johnny Depp’s personal issues, however, have thrown a major wrench into plans for Captain Jack Sparrow’s return in the reported Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
- Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard (Aquaman, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) have been embroiled in a bitter libel lawsuit stemming from domestic abuse allegations Heard previously made in U.K. News Group Newspaper publication, The Sun.
- Last fall, with Judge Andrew Nicol presiding in the U.K. High Court, Depp lost his libel case — subsequently, the actor lost both of his major roles at the moment.
- He will no longer portray Sparrow in The Walt Disney Company’s Pirates of the Caribbean universe or Gellert Grindelwald in Warner Bros. Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts films.
- Margot Robbie is set to helm Pirates 6 and Mads Mikkelsen will take over as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3.
- This has majorly upset Depp’s supporters.
- The Alice in Wonderland actor and his team — including Depp’s lawyer and exes Vanessa Paradis and Winona Rider — have denied the domestic violence accusations from the start.
- There are also hundreds of thousands of fans who want Depp to return as Jack Sparrow in future movies.
- At this time, however, this certainly seems unlikely to happen.
- Will Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner and Kiera Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann already gone from the franchise, without Depp, the series will undoubtedly look dramatically different in the future, even if Geoffery Rush returns as Captain Hector Barbossa in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
- Enter Hondo Ohnaka (Jim Cummings). “But, wait,” you might be thinking, “isn’t he a Star Wars character?” He is — and he could effectively replace Captain Jack Sparrow for Disney.
- Ohnaka, of course, wouldn’t literally replace Depp’s Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but the space pirate could absolutely fill the gap left by Sparrow’s exit for the POTC fandom
- For those unfamiliar with the character who gains part ownership of the Millennium Falcon following Han Solo’s (Harrison Ford) death in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015), the official Star Wars Databank describes the character as:
- A tough, pragmatic Weequay, Hondo Ohnaka led a notorious Outer Rim pirate gang from his headquarters on Florrum.
- A former colleague of Jango Fett and a former lover of Aurra Sing, Ohnaka won fame during the Clone Wars when he kidnapped Count Dooku, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker and tried to ransom all three for a big payout.
- Since that incident, Ohnaka continues to serve himself, not being above robbing, blinding, or betraying his friends and foes.
- Decades later, he started Ohnaka Transport Solutions on Black Spire Outpost to run contraband throughout the galaxy.
- Chewbacca has reluctantly partnered with the charming pirate to fund refurbishment of the Millennium Falcon.
- Ohnaka has appeared in two of Dave Filoni’s animated series — Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels — and can also be found as an audio-animatronic in the Millennium Falcon – Smugglers Run preshow at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.
- The fan-favorite character, however, has never appeared in live-action. A Hondo Ohnaka live-action series would both solve Disney’s Jack Sparrow problem and provide a host of other benefits.
- First, bringing Ohnaka into the live-action Star Wars canon would allow Lucasfilm to continue to expand the Star Wars universe beyond what anyone ever dreamed of.
- With nearly a dozen Disney+ Star Wars streaming series — plus several feature films — set for the next several years, we are clearly going to learn more about a galaxy far, far away than ever before.
- Ohnaka, with his decades of adventures and mercenary missions, is a born storyteller.
- He’s constantly regaling other characters, including Solo and Chewie, with tales from his wild past (sound like another pirate you’ve met before, perhaps one who has been to Tortuga?)
- For example, he knew a teenaged Jango Fett on Kamino and was the lover of bounty hunter Aurra Sing, who ultimately introduces him to Jango’s son, the always-iconic Boba Fett.
- Sing also worked with bounty hunter Cad Bane, who has recently been reintroduced to the Star Wars universe, further setting up a potential return for additional animated characters.
- In the 2019 Lou Anders novel, Flight of the Falcon: The Pirate’s Price, Ohnaka even inadvertently explains the existence of female clone, Omega, in The Bad Batch when he tells a tale about two other female clones — Mahjo Reelo and “Evil Mahjo” — who were created by rogue Kaminoan scientists.
- Furthermore, giving Ohnaka a live-action series would allow newer Star Wars fans (you know, those who didn’t watch until Grogu and The Mandalorian came on the scene) who haven’t necessarily seen animated shows the ability to learn more about this fascinating character — and it might make them more likely to visit Galaxy’s Edge at Disney Parks.
- Plus, Pirates of the Caribbean fans who aren’t thrilled with Captain Jack Sparrow’s exit would almost certainly find a kindred character in Ohnaka, thus further expanding the Star Wars fan community.
- A live-action Hondo Ohnaka series is a win-win for Lucasfilm, for the floundering Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and for The Walt Disney Company as a whole.
- Plus, as an article on Ohnaka once pointed out:
- Hondo’s past is a veritable gold mine of potential.
- What was his childhood like?
- When did he become a pirate?
- How does one move up the ranks to become the leader of a pirate planet?
- Did Hondo scrape his way up or was he born into some kind of pirate royalty?
- Why does he speak Ugnaught and have a soft spot for the species?
- What made him the way he is today?
- Plus, as an article on Ohnaka once pointed out:
- And finally, there’s all the gaps in Hondo’s adulthood.
- He pops in and out of the cartoons as the narrative needs, but decades of not only surviving but thriving in a galaxy tearing itself apart must have some interesting stories.
- While Hondo was in the possession of Slave I, where did he go?
- What was the final nail in the coffin for Hondo’s pirate planet.
- Did the gang simply disperse or mutiny?
- Recent months have taken a toll on Disney’s token pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).

- Amazon Prime Videos’ The Boys has issued a warning to fans asking for a Season 3 release date.
- “Every time you ask when season 3 is coming out the release date moves back one day. See you in 2033!” The Boys’ official Twitter account wrote.
- While details regarding the third season of the Amazon Studios original series are slowly being released, an official release has yet to be announced.
- This is not the first time The Boys’ Twitter account has teased fans about their desire for a Season 3 release date.
- In May, the account quote-tweeted a post from the MTV Movie and TV Awards account where fans submitted their questions for series star Jack Quaid to answer during the award show’s Pop-Up Pre Show.
- The response from The Boys was a sarcastic, “wHeN iS sEaSoN 3???”
- Season 3 of The Boys began filming in late Jan. 2021 after production delays due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
- Though the official premiere date has not been announced, showrunner Eric Kripke has teased a mind-blowing first episode, calling it both “insane” and “special.”
- The Boys Twitter account also responded to Kripke saying the “editing room is fully covered in gore already and they’re only working on episode 1.”
- Amazon Studios’ The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander, Katia Winter as Little Nina and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy.

- Even Indiana Jones is susceptible to bumps and bruises.
- Star Harrison Ford sustained a shoulder injury on the set of “Indiana Jones 5,” requiring the actor to take a hiatus from filming while treatment is evaluated.
- In the meantime, director James Mangold will continue to shoot without Ford.
- “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement.
- “Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”
- The extent of Ford’s injury is unknown, though it’s hardly the first time he’s hurt himself while making a movie.
- In the past, Ford suffered a serious back injury on “Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom” and endured leg trauma on “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
- “Indiana Jones 5” began production earlier this month in the U.K.
- Plot details for the sequel haven’t been announced yet, though the 78-year-old Ford is reprising his iconic role as the fedora-wearing, swashbuckling archaeologist.
- Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen will co-star in the latest installment.
- “Indiana Jones 5″ has been delayed several times and is currently scheduled to debut in theaters on July 29, 2022.
- That’s almost 15 years after the most recent entry, 2008’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” and more than four decades after the initial installment, 1981’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
- Steven Spielberg, who directed the first four films in the franchise, was initially set to direct “Indiana Jones 5.”
- However, he passed filmmaking reins to Mangold, whose credits include “Ford v Ferrari” and “Logan,” in 2020.
- Spielberg is expected to remain hands-on as a producer, while George Lucas, who co-created Indiana Jones with Spielberg, hasn’t been officially involved with “Indy 5.”
- Even Indiana Jones is susceptible to bumps and bruises.

- A Haredi family living in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Jerusalem reckons with love, loss and the doldrums of daily life.
- Shtisel (Hebrew: שטיסל) is an Israeli television drama series about a fictional “ultra-Orthodox” Jewish family living in Jerusalem. The series premiered on 29 June 2013 on “yes Oh”. It commenced distribution via the online streaming service Netflix in 2018. The first two seasons have 12 episodes per season, and the third season has 9 episodes.
- In May 2019, the show was renewed for a third season, though filming was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A trailer was released in September, revealing that Season 3 is set seven years after the death of Akiva’s mother (six years after the events of the first episode). Season 3 premiered on 20 December 2020, and became available on Netflix starting 25 March 2021.
- The series follows the lives of Shulem Shtisel (Dov Glickman), the Shtisel patriarch and a rabbi at the local cheder, as well as those of the other members of his family. Shtisel is set in a Haredi, Internet-free neighborhood. The community follows strict Haredi customs, and violating the norms often causes chaos within the family. However, the characters who are more open to a secular lifestyle reflect Geula’s moderation in comparison to their neighbors in Mea She’arim, the adjacent community known for religious fundamentalism.

welcome to insights into entertainment
0:00:53.920,0:01:00.480
this is episode 115 bugging the avengers
0:00:57.920,0:01:02.320
campus i’m your host joseph whalen
0:01:00.480,0:01:04.080
and my brilliant and beautiful co-host
0:01:02.320,0:01:06.720
michelle whalen aw
0:01:04.080,0:01:07.200
how are you today dear i am good how are
0:01:06.720,0:01:09.200
you
0:01:07.200,0:01:10.640
i am so good i am actually going to
0:01:09.200,0:01:12.320
pretend like i’m not fixing my
0:01:10.640,0:01:13.920
soundboard right now and continue
0:01:12.320,0:01:19.040
talking like i’m a professional
0:01:13.920,0:01:19.040
wow that is talent that’s how good i am
0:01:20.000,0:01:23.840
so how was your week this week uh it was
0:01:22.000,0:01:27.280
good how was your father’s day
0:01:23.840,0:01:29.439
my father’s day was fantastic
0:01:27.280,0:01:30.960
it was a whole weekend celebration of
0:01:29.439,0:01:32.400
father’s day
0:01:30.960,0:01:33.550
makes me wish i was that good of a
0:01:32.400,0:01:35.920
father
0:01:33.550,0:01:37.759
[Laughter]
0:01:35.920,0:01:39.520
no it was nice it was nice we all got
0:01:37.759,0:01:41.119
together sam came over
0:01:39.520,0:01:43.200
was it was the first father’s day in a
0:01:41.119,0:01:44.640
couple years that that all the kids were
0:01:43.200,0:01:46.560
around
0:01:44.640,0:01:49.280
and i thoroughly enjoyed it we went to
0:01:46.560,0:01:51.759
dave and busters we had some fun there
0:01:49.280,0:01:53.520
yeah it was kind of unique because we’ve
0:01:51.759,0:01:56.320
done dave and busters before
0:01:53.520,0:01:57.600
the four of us right but we don’t always
0:01:56.320,0:01:59.920
play games together
0:01:57.600,0:02:01.840
usually you know maddie and i go off and
0:01:59.920,0:02:02.799
do something you and sam might go off
0:02:01.840,0:02:06.000
and do something or
0:02:02.799,0:02:07.200
you go off sam goes off but we for the
0:02:06.000,0:02:09.920
most part actually
0:02:07.200,0:02:12.239
did a lot of games together became a
0:02:09.920,0:02:13.760
hungry hungry hippos
0:02:12.239,0:02:18.080
good thing we didn’t get any video of
0:02:13.760,0:02:18.080
that that was an incredibly violent game
0:02:18.800,0:02:21.760
you know they are the deadliest
0:02:20.000,0:02:22.000
creatures in the jungle so and now i
0:02:21.760,0:02:25.440
know
0:02:22.000,0:02:25.760
why yeah yeah so we did that we did some
0:02:25.440,0:02:28.640
uh
0:02:25.760,0:02:29.040
air hockey some uh axe throwing yeah
0:02:28.640,0:02:30.560
yeah
0:02:29.040,0:02:32.160
some racing although we were all
0:02:30.560,0:02:33.120
individually racing and didn’t realize
0:02:32.160,0:02:35.519
we didn’t realize
0:02:33.120,0:02:37.519
we were finished right right um what
0:02:35.519,0:02:39.599
else do oh we did pong that we did pong
0:02:37.519,0:02:42.080
that didn’t work out very well
0:02:39.599,0:02:44.080
yeah but it was nice that they had a
0:02:42.080,0:02:46.879
number of
0:02:44.080,0:02:47.840
games where you could have you know four
0:02:46.879,0:02:49.440
people playing
0:02:47.840,0:02:50.720
all together so that was the one thing
0:02:49.440,0:02:52.160
that we kind of missed was the four
0:02:50.720,0:02:54.720
player air hockey that they had
0:02:52.160,0:02:56.319
right right right oh we did the squirt
0:02:54.720,0:02:58.000
gun the water gun thing
0:02:56.319,0:03:00.159
so confused about it because that one
0:02:58.000,0:03:01.519
was it was basically you had to plot
0:03:00.159,0:03:04.239
against everybody else
0:03:01.519,0:03:04.720
it wasn’t about getting to yours first
0:03:04.239,0:03:05.920
it was
0:03:04.720,0:03:07.760
it was getting everybody getting
0:03:05.920,0:03:09.519
everybody else out before you
0:03:07.760,0:03:10.959
yeah so you all conspired against me
0:03:09.519,0:03:13.599
though so that’s okay yeah we did that’s
0:03:10.959,0:03:15.360
great it was father’s day
0:03:13.599,0:03:17.599
but that’s not what we’re talking about
0:03:15.360,0:03:19.519
today today in our disney detective
0:03:17.599,0:03:21.120
we’ll talk about which coveted changes
0:03:19.519,0:03:23.599
are here to stay at disney
0:03:21.120,0:03:25.840
they finally announced that and we’ll
0:03:23.599,0:03:28.799
talk about a bugs land that may be gone
0:03:25.840,0:03:30.879
but not forgotten at avengers campus
0:03:28.799,0:03:33.200
then in our tales from the edge of the
0:03:30.879,0:03:35.280
galaxy nothing with gina carano
0:03:33.200,0:03:36.879
yes i know i noticed that although i was
0:03:35.280,0:03:38.799
going to crack up my father’s day pack
0:03:36.879,0:03:40.400
and do an interview with gina carrano
0:03:38.799,0:03:41.599
maybe we’ll do that next weekend next
0:03:40.400,0:03:43.280
week really next week we might have a
0:03:41.599,0:03:44.959
special guest
0:03:43.280,0:03:46.560
cara dune sorry cara doing not right
0:03:44.959,0:03:48.159
correct
0:03:46.560,0:03:50.239
though so this week in our tales from
0:03:48.159,0:03:52.799
the edge of the galaxy an x-wing is
0:03:50.239,0:03:55.120
landing at the smithsonian and which
0:03:52.799,0:03:57.439
star wars character could replace
0:03:55.120,0:03:59.120
jack sparrow and then in our
0:03:57.439,0:04:01.920
entertainment news
0:03:59.120,0:04:03.920
the boys issues an appropriately harsh
0:04:01.920,0:04:05.120
warning to those begging for season
0:04:03.920,0:04:07.519
three
0:04:05.120,0:04:08.799
and harrison ford once again is injured
0:04:07.519,0:04:12.239
while filming a movie
0:04:08.799,0:04:14.560
this time indiana jones five poor guy
0:04:12.239,0:04:15.599
yeah well you know he’s about 78 now
0:04:14.560,0:04:18.959
yeah
0:04:15.599,0:04:20.959
that’s uh a stunt double yeah really
0:04:18.959,0:04:23.199
yeah just showing up he needs a stop
0:04:20.959,0:04:24.880
double now
0:04:23.199,0:04:26.720
uh and then we’ll finish up with our
0:04:24.880,0:04:29.759
insightful picks of the week
0:04:26.720,0:04:31.199
uh i’m back to my old hats with uh what
0:04:29.759,0:04:33.440
i have this week
0:04:31.199,0:04:35.120
and then we’ll finish up with a quick
0:04:33.440,0:04:36.639
few afterthoughts we have another
0:04:35.120,0:04:37.360
afterthought this week that we didn’t
0:04:36.639,0:04:39.440
have list
0:04:37.360,0:04:40.560
this week that recently was announced
0:04:39.440,0:04:43.280
right right
0:04:40.560,0:04:43.680
good news there before we get into that
0:04:43.280,0:04:46.160
though
0:04:43.680,0:04:48.479
i would invite all of our listeners and

0:05:36.160,0:05:40.240
shall we get into it sure all right
0:05:46.400,0:05:50.840
go for disney detective so uh the first
0:05:49.199,0:05:53.520
story comes from the
0:05:50.840,0:05:54.080
latimes.com and it was basically talking
0:05:53.520,0:05:56.800
about
0:05:54.080,0:05:57.680
which covid error changes will be
0:05:56.800,0:05:59.759
staying
0:05:57.680,0:06:00.880
and which ones will be going because
0:05:59.759,0:06:04.160
obviously
0:06:00.880,0:06:06.479
disneyland now has opened up and
0:06:04.160,0:06:08.960
california has lifted most of its
0:06:06.479,0:06:12.000
coronavirus safety
0:06:08.960,0:06:14.240
restrictions this week so now they’re
0:06:12.000,0:06:16.479
kind of continuing to open
0:06:14.240,0:06:18.160
certain things of the park that haven’t
0:06:16.479,0:06:20.080
been opened yet
0:06:18.160,0:06:22.319
so obviously there’s still a few things
0:06:20.080,0:06:24.560
that are are kind of going to stick
0:06:22.319,0:06:25.520
the chairman of disney parks has says
0:06:24.560,0:06:27.280
had said
0:06:25.520,0:06:28.560
i don’t want to say that we’re going
0:06:27.280,0:06:31.520
back uh
0:06:28.560,0:06:33.600
to the way it was but we have to be
0:06:31.520,0:06:36.720
smart in the way that we do this
0:06:33.600,0:06:37.440
so um you know the attendance gaps and
0:06:36.720,0:06:40.160
the physical
0:06:37.440,0:06:40.560
distance require requirements are pretty
0:06:40.160,0:06:43.840
much
0:06:40.560,0:06:46.000
gone um so now they can kind of
0:06:43.840,0:06:48.160
open up some more of the rides that they
0:06:46.000,0:06:50.800
hadn’t opened yet
0:06:48.160,0:06:51.520
also some musical acts and the nighttime
0:06:50.800,0:06:53.199
shows
0:06:51.520,0:06:55.280
over the next few weeks and other
0:06:53.199,0:06:58.639
attractions later this summer
0:06:55.280,0:07:00.080
so disney executive said that the
0:06:58.639,0:07:02.560
15-month closure
0:07:00.080,0:07:03.280
kind of helped them rethink how to best
0:07:02.560,0:07:05.919
manage
0:07:03.280,0:07:05.919
one of the biz
0:07:06.800,0:07:10.960
biggest headaches at the resort and that
0:07:09.759,0:07:14.160
would be
0:07:10.960,0:07:16.560
the you know the crowds um so
0:07:14.160,0:07:18.319
in trying to so one of the things that
0:07:16.560,0:07:21.039
they talked about keeping in place was
0:07:18.319,0:07:24.080
the reservation system that they adopted
0:07:21.039,0:07:27.199
to kind of manage how many visitors
0:07:24.080,0:07:30.319
came to the park each day um so
0:07:27.199,0:07:32.400
again not much information about
0:07:30.319,0:07:34.000
how long that’s going to be or or what
0:07:32.400,0:07:36.080
the cap is or anything
0:07:34.000,0:07:38.720
but basically you can’t just decide to
0:07:36.080,0:07:40.560
go to the well you might be able to
0:07:38.720,0:07:42.880
decide to you know go to a park on a
0:07:40.560,0:07:46.160
certain day but you actually have to go
0:07:42.880,0:07:48.560
on their app and make a reservation for
0:07:46.160,0:07:49.840
that day the other thing that they had
0:07:48.560,0:07:53.360
gotten rid of
0:07:49.840,0:07:55.360
was the annual pass program now they did
0:07:53.360,0:07:58.319
make some sort of announcements but
0:07:55.360,0:07:59.120
not really a whole lot of information as
0:07:58.319,0:08:02.000
to
0:07:59.120,0:08:03.199
the replacement membership program
0:08:02.000,0:08:06.479
that’s supposed to be
0:08:03.199,0:08:08.080
released relatively soon so before the
0:08:06.479,0:08:09.199
end of the year probably even before the
0:08:08.080,0:08:13.039
end of the summer
0:08:09.199,0:08:16.800
they’ll discuss what that whole thing is
0:08:13.039,0:08:19.599
um so you know obviously
0:08:16.800,0:08:20.319
things that have gone away is no longer
0:08:19.599,0:08:23.360
do you have to
0:08:20.319,0:08:24.560
have your temperature checked um even
0:08:23.360,0:08:26.479
though
0:08:24.560,0:08:27.840
if you’re fully vaccinated you don’t
0:08:26.479,0:08:30.479
have to wear a mask
0:08:27.840,0:08:31.520
they’re not asking for proof so it’s
0:08:30.479,0:08:36.080
basically on
0:08:31.520,0:08:36.080
the honor system for mask wearing
0:08:36.399,0:08:41.519
the other thing too that they are
0:08:39.279,0:08:43.279
starting to use a little bit more is the
0:08:41.519,0:08:47.360
virtual cue system
0:08:43.279,0:08:50.080
when they opened up uh avengers campus
0:08:47.360,0:08:51.040
the spider-man ride has the virtual
0:08:50.080,0:08:53.760
queue
0:08:51.040,0:08:54.240
as well so originally when the park
0:08:53.760,0:08:56.480
first
0:08:54.240,0:08:57.680
opened they had a virtual queue system
0:08:56.480,0:09:01.440
to just be able to
0:08:57.680,0:09:02.800
get into the avengers campus to try and
0:09:01.440,0:09:05.920
limit the amount of people
0:09:02.800,0:09:07.600
that were in there that they’ve now
0:09:05.920,0:09:10.720
stopped using but they d
0:09:07.600,0:09:12.720
do still use it for the one ride
0:09:10.720,0:09:13.920
um some of the other things that are set
0:09:12.720,0:09:16.640
to open
0:09:13.920,0:09:18.000
uh later on or come back would be the
0:09:16.640,0:09:19.519
disneyland band
0:09:18.000,0:09:22.240
some of the other musical acts are
0:09:19.519,0:09:24.640
supposed to be coming back this summer
0:09:22.240,0:09:26.320
buzz lightyear astro blaster and
0:09:24.640,0:09:29.040
storybook land canal
0:09:26.320,0:09:31.200
boats are supposed to reopen next week
0:09:29.040,0:09:32.640
the fireworks are coming back in july we
0:09:31.200,0:09:35.839
were talking about that uh
0:09:32.640,0:09:37.600
last week um parades and
0:09:35.839,0:09:39.920
opportunities to meet costumed
0:09:37.600,0:09:41.839
characters are supposed to come back
0:09:39.920,0:09:43.760
at some point the one thing that they
0:09:41.839,0:09:44.880
did say was that the monorail and the
0:09:43.760,0:09:46.880
finding nemo
0:09:44.880,0:09:48.240
submarine voyage ride are still
0:09:46.880,0:09:51.680
remaining closed
0:09:48.240,0:09:54.880
with no date yet as to when they will
0:09:51.680,0:09:57.040
uh be opening um so
0:09:54.880,0:09:59.440
you know although they do have a lot of
0:09:57.040,0:10:02.079
attractions that aren’t available
0:09:59.440,0:10:02.880
the other part of that is that the wait
0:10:02.079,0:10:04.959
times are
0:10:02.880,0:10:05.920
increasing because there aren’t as many
0:10:04.959,0:10:09.120
attractions
0:10:05.920,0:10:11.279
so the indiana jones ride um
0:10:09.120,0:10:13.920
and rise of the resistance and space
0:10:11.279,0:10:15.680
mountain you know as of thursday which
0:10:13.920,0:10:19.040
isn’t a peak day
0:10:15.680,0:10:19.760
already had 40 minute wait times at one
0:10:19.040,0:10:22.880
point
0:10:19.760,0:10:23.680
so they’re obviously trying to kind of
0:10:22.880,0:10:26.240
work
0:10:23.680,0:10:28.800
through everything and it’s kind of in
0:10:26.240,0:10:28.800
phased
0:10:30.959,0:10:34.560
openings i guess you know for for
0:10:32.880,0:10:37.519
different things and kind of see
0:10:34.560,0:10:37.839
um you know where where it goes and what
0:10:37.519,0:10:40.399
they
0:10:37.839,0:10:41.440
continue to add maybe to the virtual cue
0:10:40.399,0:10:43.760
because that’s something
0:10:41.440,0:10:45.760
we’ve talked about a couple of times
0:10:43.760,0:10:48.560
them hinting to add more
0:10:45.760,0:10:50.320
rides to the virtual queue to help keep
0:10:48.560,0:10:53.600
those wait times down
0:10:50.320,0:10:55.360
so the reservation system that they have
0:10:53.600,0:10:57.839
in place right now
0:10:55.360,0:10:59.760
do they publish how many reservations
0:10:57.839,0:11:01.680
they allow people to have
0:10:59.760,0:11:03.120
in the in the park during the day how
0:11:01.680,0:11:04.959
many people they’re allowing you no
0:11:03.120,0:11:07.360
no right now so so the reservation
0:11:04.959,0:11:10.000
system is basically bogus
0:11:07.360,0:11:12.160
probably you can also get park hoppers
0:11:10.000,0:11:14.880
now park hopper passes are available
0:11:12.160,0:11:15.600
right and park hoppers don’t require you
0:11:14.880,0:11:18.880
to reserve
0:11:15.600,0:11:20.800
multiple park reservations
0:11:18.880,0:11:22.160
right so you can hop from park to park
0:11:20.800,0:11:24.560
to park well and i don’t know how it
0:11:22.160,0:11:26.640
works in california because in
0:11:24.560,0:11:28.320
in florida it’s a little different
0:11:26.640,0:11:29.600
because in florida you have to make a
0:11:28.320,0:11:33.200
reservation for
0:11:29.600,0:11:35.760
one park and you can’t park hop until
0:11:33.200,0:11:37.200
two o’clock or something you you can’t
0:11:35.760,0:11:38.320
you know just all of a sudden go from
0:11:37.200,0:11:41.519
one park to another
0:11:38.320,0:11:42.000
i don’t know how it is with california
0:11:41.519,0:11:44.399
so i don’t
0:11:42.000,0:11:46.480
know if they have park hopper
0:11:44.399,0:11:48.959
availability in california yet
0:11:46.480,0:11:51.279
so they did away or they’re they’re
0:11:48.959,0:11:53.200
doing away or have done away with
0:11:51.279,0:11:54.959
uh the fastpass system because it was
0:11:53.200,0:11:56.560
complicated and you had to
0:11:54.959,0:11:58.320
plan it out ahead of time if you were to
0:11:56.560,0:12:01.040
take advantage of it right
0:11:58.320,0:12:02.720
and then what they do to combat the
0:12:01.040,0:12:03.680
overcrowding that they did nothing to
0:12:02.720,0:12:06.240
combat
0:12:03.680,0:12:07.920
was they implement a reservation system
0:12:06.240,0:12:09.839
that’s basically a fast pass for the
0:12:07.920,0:12:10.480
entire park just to get into the park
0:12:09.839,0:12:12.480
basically
0:12:10.480,0:12:13.760
which you now and and they talk about
0:12:12.480,0:12:15.040
the fact that you have to you know
0:12:13.760,0:12:18.160
they’re booked two weeks out
0:12:15.040,0:12:21.360
at a time so
0:12:18.160,0:12:24.000
you potentially could
0:12:21.360,0:12:25.279
book a vacation get up get your park
0:12:24.000,0:12:26.800
tickets and they won’t even let you buy
0:12:25.279,0:12:30.639
park tickets until you can book a
0:12:26.800,0:12:32.639
reservation in the park now right so
0:12:30.639,0:12:34.160
i’m not sure how this is solving any
0:12:32.639,0:12:36.079
problems if
0:12:34.160,0:12:38.320
they have the reservation system in
0:12:36.079,0:12:39.760
place and your wait times are still
0:12:38.320,0:12:43.200
unacceptably high
0:12:39.760,0:12:45.519
so how is that solving anything because
0:12:43.200,0:12:46.240
i can almost guarantee you they’re
0:12:45.519,0:12:47.760
allowing
0:12:46.240,0:12:49.360
more people in the park than they can
0:12:47.760,0:12:50.800
support which is why the wait times are
0:12:49.360,0:12:54.079
so high probably
0:12:50.800,0:12:55.040
so the so the the the reservation system
0:12:54.079,0:12:56.320
doesn’t do you any good
0:12:55.040,0:12:59.200
you’re still going to allow too many
0:12:56.320,0:13:01.600
people in and they’re not going to
0:12:59.200,0:13:02.959
stop people from coming into the park
0:13:01.600,0:13:06.399
when they can get money for it
0:13:02.959,0:13:07.760
absolutely so that’s window dressing so
0:13:06.399,0:13:08.000
if they’re going to solve the problem
0:13:07.760,0:13:10.480
with
0:13:08.000,0:13:11.839
overcrowding in long lines your virtual
0:13:10.480,0:13:14.880
cue really is the only thing that you
0:13:11.839,0:13:17.440
have going for you at this point in time
0:13:14.880,0:13:18.160
so disney once again not quite doing it
0:13:17.440,0:13:21.120
right
0:13:18.160,0:13:22.160
but uh i think the moral of the story
0:13:21.120,0:13:23.920
here is that things
0:13:22.160,0:13:26.000
aren’t going back to the way that we
0:13:23.920,0:13:28.320
thought they were going back
0:13:26.000,0:13:30.880
and it’s not because of safety reasons
0:13:28.320,0:13:33.279
it’s because of monetization reasons
0:13:30.880,0:13:34.000
disney realized they can make more money
0:13:33.279,0:13:36.240
by doing these
0:13:34.000,0:13:39.519
other things than by allowing you to
0:13:36.240,0:13:42.000
come back in the way things were
0:13:39.519,0:13:44.320
so even even less interested in going to
0:13:42.000,0:13:46.959
disney at this point in time
0:13:44.320,0:13:48.320
but hey that’s not the only disney story
0:13:46.959,0:13:50.560
we have
0:13:48.320,0:13:52.079
thank god i’m not going to just bust on
0:13:50.560,0:13:53.600
disney today that was last week’s
0:13:52.079,0:13:57.320
episode
0:13:53.600,0:13:59.440
what’s the next one we have so uh from
0:13:57.320,0:14:00.959
insidethemagic.net we have a story that
0:13:59.440,0:14:03.839
talks about how
0:14:00.959,0:14:05.360
disney left one big tribute to a bug’s
0:14:03.839,0:14:08.880
land at adventures
0:14:05.360,0:14:11.279
uh avengers campus so on june 4th the
0:14:08.880,0:14:12.880
highly anticipated opening of advent
0:14:11.279,0:14:15.680
avengers campus
0:14:12.880,0:14:17.600
happened at the disneyland resort disney
0:14:15.680,0:14:19.760
california adventure park so
0:14:17.600,0:14:21.360
marvel fans had been waiting for this
0:14:19.760,0:14:23.199
day for quite some time
0:14:21.360,0:14:24.720
and still can’t believe that they’re now
0:14:23.199,0:14:27.760
able to visit
0:14:24.720,0:14:29.600
disney’s first marvel themed land
0:14:27.760,0:14:31.120
if you haven’t seen any of the videos or
0:14:29.600,0:14:34.240
pictures of it um
0:14:31.120,0:14:34.560
you you know it is really really amazing
0:14:34.240,0:14:35.920
to
0:14:34.560,0:14:37.760
to see and i’m sure it’s one of those
0:14:35.920,0:14:40.160
things when you see it in person
0:14:37.760,0:14:43.279
it’s even more so so obviously from
0:14:40.160,0:14:46.639
captain marvel to spider-man to iron man
0:14:43.279,0:14:48.480
captain america black widow you know the
0:14:46.639,0:14:50.160
avengers campus guest
0:14:48.480,0:14:52.160
you know you never know who’s gonna pop
0:14:50.160,0:14:56.079
up in this immersive
0:14:52.160,0:14:58.480
uh disney park area but to make space
0:14:56.079,0:14:59.519
for this to be built another land had to
0:14:58.480,0:15:03.360
say goodbye
0:14:59.519,0:15:05.760
so in 2018 disneyland resort announced
0:15:03.360,0:15:09.040
that it had to get rid of a bugs land
0:15:05.760,0:15:09.920
section of the park um which was also
0:15:09.040,0:15:12.639
part of
0:15:09.920,0:15:13.440
the it’s tough to be a bug stage that
0:15:12.639,0:15:16.720
had actually
0:15:13.440,0:15:18.320
opened when the park um had had first
0:15:16.720,0:15:21.440
opened in 2001
0:15:18.320,0:15:22.720
to make way for this takeover but what
0:15:21.440,0:15:25.040
was nice was that
0:15:22.720,0:15:27.440
walt disney imagineering didn’t forget
0:15:25.040,0:15:29.360
about a bug’s land however
0:15:27.440,0:15:30.560
they made sure to include some fun
0:15:29.360,0:15:33.600
easter eggs
0:15:30.560,0:15:36.320
in the new pym testing lab
0:15:33.600,0:15:37.360
that is designed to showcase drinks
0:15:36.320,0:15:40.800
created
0:15:37.360,0:15:42.959
by dr pym and presumably his daughter
0:15:40.800,0:15:46.240
hope and her boyfriend scott
0:15:42.959,0:15:47.519
and so in the area the iconic christmas
0:15:46.240,0:15:50.160
lights that were used
0:15:47.519,0:15:51.040
in the bugs land area are proudly
0:15:50.160,0:15:54.320
hanging
0:15:51.040,0:15:56.560
at this testing lab um so
0:15:54.320,0:15:57.600
if you you know happen to be there and
0:15:56.560,0:16:00.320
you see these
0:15:57.600,0:16:01.120
big giant christmas lights those were
0:16:00.320,0:16:03.519
actually
0:16:01.120,0:16:04.240
from the bugs land uh and they look kind
0:16:03.519,0:16:08.079
of cool
0:16:04.240,0:16:10.560
um you know at night so the d23
0:16:08.079,0:16:12.800
uh website had officially described bugs
0:16:10.560,0:16:16.480
land as an area featuring
0:16:12.800,0:16:21.199
flicks fun fair attractions for children
0:16:16.480,0:16:24.320
um and it was really like the kitty park
0:16:21.199,0:16:27.199
maddie and i had gone to it the one time
0:16:24.320,0:16:28.639
uh when we were out in california it was
0:16:27.199,0:16:29.519
really you know meant for like the
0:16:28.639,0:16:31.040
little kids
0:16:29.519,0:16:33.120
you know they weren’t like big giant
0:16:31.040,0:16:36.720
rides but it was cute because
0:16:33.120,0:16:39.839
it kind of had that toy story um
0:16:36.720,0:16:40.959
land feel where you know you’re the size
0:16:39.839,0:16:43.600
of a bug
0:16:40.959,0:16:44.800
type thing everything was oversized like
0:16:43.600,0:16:47.360
the benches
0:16:44.800,0:16:48.000
looked like they were used popsicle
0:16:47.360,0:16:50.800
sticks
0:16:48.000,0:16:52.639
that actually had like the stain from
0:16:50.800,0:16:54.639
the color of the popsicle
0:16:52.639,0:16:56.959
so you know it was a very cute theming
0:16:54.639,0:16:58.959
the way uh that they did it so it was
0:16:56.959,0:17:02.399
nice that they were able to
0:16:58.959,0:17:04.240
use some of that and add that um
0:17:02.399,0:17:05.679
you know so it’s always one of those
0:17:04.240,0:17:08.079
things that um
0:17:05.679,0:17:09.039
you know disney doesn’t always get rid
0:17:08.079,0:17:11.039
of
0:17:09.039,0:17:12.720
things they always like to reuse and
0:17:11.039,0:17:13.280
repurpose so it’s nice that they were
0:17:12.720,0:17:15.760
able to
0:17:13.280,0:17:17.439
pay homage well they’re pretty tight on
0:17:15.760,0:17:18.240
real estate out in california oh yeah
0:17:17.439,0:17:20.160
they can’t really
0:17:18.240,0:17:21.520
you can’t expand out like you can in
0:17:20.160,0:17:24.480
florida right and that’s
0:17:21.520,0:17:25.600
that’s the other thing too is you know
0:17:24.480,0:17:27.919
you know in
0:17:25.600,0:17:28.880
florida they have so much land that they
0:17:27.919,0:17:31.840
can just kind of
0:17:28.880,0:17:33.120
you know extend out or go up or whatever
0:17:31.840,0:17:35.679
where california
0:17:33.120,0:17:37.679
they’re kind of boxed in right so well
0:17:35.679,0:17:41.200
it’s nice that they kept that hanging
0:17:37.679,0:17:42.799
that aspect of the attraction before
0:17:41.200,0:17:44.480
yep i’m curious though was there any
0:17:42.799,0:17:45.039
announcements that i’m doing on avengers
0:17:44.480,0:17:48.240
campus
0:17:45.039,0:17:50.080
in florida nope that seems odd that they
0:17:48.240,0:17:51.440
wouldn’t do one in florida considering
0:17:50.080,0:17:53.760
how popular that’s going to be
0:17:51.440,0:17:54.880
right and especially when you did star
0:17:53.760,0:17:57.440
wars you
0:17:54.880,0:17:58.559
in both sides you did both you know you
0:17:57.440,0:18:01.280
weren’t going to have
0:17:58.559,0:18:01.840
one version maybe another lesson there
0:18:01.280,0:18:03.919
maybe
0:18:01.840,0:18:04.880
let’s open it in california see how well
0:18:03.919,0:18:08.559
and the other thing too
0:18:04.880,0:18:09.280
is that in in florida at epcot you’re
0:18:08.559,0:18:14.480
gonna get
0:18:09.280,0:18:16.799
the um guardians of the galaxy ride
0:18:14.480,0:18:18.080
which isn’t going to be that’s not the
0:18:16.799,0:18:21.360
same i know
0:18:18.080,0:18:22.640
but i could see them turning spider-man
0:18:21.360,0:18:24.880
flying around in the air
0:18:22.640,0:18:25.919
that would be actually really cool but i
0:18:24.880,0:18:28.400
could kind of see
0:18:25.919,0:18:29.440
and that’s the thing is like why is that
0:18:28.400,0:18:32.799
in epcot
0:18:29.440,0:18:36.480
it doesn’t seem but i could see them
0:18:32.799,0:18:39.440
building a stark technologies
0:18:36.480,0:18:40.559
in epcot turn epcot itself into like the
0:18:39.440,0:18:43.280
stark expo
0:18:40.559,0:18:44.080
right right there would be yeah you
0:18:43.280,0:18:46.160
could totally
0:18:44.080,0:18:47.919
the entire park could be themed that way
0:18:46.160,0:18:50.720
so it’s not what
0:18:47.919,0:18:51.200
walt originally wanted it to be so i
0:18:50.720,0:18:53.440
don’t know
0:18:51.200,0:18:54.640
maybe you know 10 15 years from now
0:18:53.440,0:18:56.559
that’s you know
0:18:54.640,0:18:58.320
interesting their plans well at least a
0:18:56.559,0:19:00.320
bugs land lives on in
0:18:58.320,0:19:03.520
giant christmas lights right that’s
0:19:00.320,0:19:05.520
that’s some sentimentality
0:19:03.520,0:19:07.039
better than nothing anyway that’s all we
0:19:05.520,0:19:09.679
had for our
0:19:07.039,0:19:10.080
uh disney detective we’ll be right back

0:20:29.840,0:20:34.080
so from
0:20:31.240,0:20:36.480
space.com an iconic star wars
0:20:34.080,0:20:37.280
x-wing fighter is going to find a new
0:20:36.480,0:20:40.480
home
0:20:37.280,0:20:43.600
at the smithsonian so the force will be
0:20:40.480,0:20:46.640
the with the smithsonian in 2022
0:20:43.600,0:20:49.280
as an esteemed museum in washing uh
0:20:46.640,0:20:50.880
in washington dc rolls out their latest
0:20:49.280,0:20:53.760
prize artifact
0:20:50.880,0:20:54.240
next year in the form of an actual star
0:20:53.760,0:20:57.760
wars
0:20:54.240,0:21:00.000
x-wing fighter the iconic mosquito-like
0:20:57.760,0:21:02.000
spaceship prop has been generously
0:21:00.000,0:21:04.880
loaned to the smithsonian by
0:21:02.000,0:21:06.559
lucasfilms limited for an indefinite
0:21:04.880,0:21:09.760
period
0:21:06.559,0:21:12.720
so the uh
0:21:09.760,0:21:13.200
space history chair at the museum had
0:21:12.720,0:21:15.600
said
0:21:13.200,0:21:16.640
despite taking place a long time ago in
0:21:15.600,0:21:19.280
a galaxy far
0:21:16.640,0:21:21.039
far away star wars introduced
0:21:19.280,0:21:23.679
generations of fans
0:21:21.039,0:21:25.039
here on earth to outer space as a
0:21:23.679,0:21:28.799
setting for advanced
0:21:25.039,0:21:30.640
adventure and exploration all air and
0:21:28.799,0:21:33.760
space milestones begin with
0:21:30.640,0:21:35.360
inspiration and science fiction so often
0:21:33.760,0:21:38.480
provided that spark
0:21:35.360,0:21:39.760
the iconic x-wing displayed amid our
0:21:38.480,0:21:42.080
other spacecrafts
0:21:39.760,0:21:43.440
celebrates the journey from imagination
0:21:42.080,0:21:46.000
to achievement
0:21:43.440,0:21:46.559
so right now it’s currently getting a
0:21:46.000,0:21:50.400
proper
0:21:46.559,0:21:52.720
shakedown and full comfort conservation
0:21:50.400,0:21:53.840
effort at the restoration hangar in
0:21:52.720,0:21:56.720
virginia
0:21:53.840,0:21:57.440
um which happens to also house some
0:21:56.720,0:21:59.679
world war
0:21:57.440,0:22:01.039
ii warbirds as well i think that’s kind
0:21:59.679,0:22:02.880
of funny that you
0:22:01.039,0:22:04.400
have that’s what’s neat if you if you’re
0:22:02.880,0:22:06.480
watching the show yeah
0:22:04.400,0:22:08.880
you can see it next it looks like what’s
0:22:06.480,0:22:11.200
probably a b-17 bomber
0:22:08.880,0:22:12.400
carcass that’s there that’s just pieces
0:22:11.200,0:22:12.960
of it that they’re assembling yeah and
0:22:12.400,0:22:16.159
you have the
0:22:12.960,0:22:19.120
the x-wing there too um you know so
0:22:16.159,0:22:20.880
basically they had said you know um
0:22:19.120,0:22:23.919
sometime late in the year
0:22:20.880,0:22:25.919
the t7 x-wing will go on public
0:22:23.919,0:22:27.760
70 i’m sorry for those star wars people
0:22:25.919,0:22:31.520
out there i’m sorry
0:22:27.760,0:22:34.159
what did luke fly he didn’t fly a 70 he
0:22:31.520,0:22:36.559
did a 65. 65 right because i read the
0:22:34.159,0:22:36.559
article
0:22:36.799,0:22:41.600
so it will go on display at the entrance
0:22:39.280,0:22:43.039
to the albert einstein planetarium at
0:22:41.600,0:22:45.280
the smithsonian’s
0:22:43.039,0:22:46.720
national air and space museum on the
0:22:45.280,0:22:48.240
national mall
0:22:46.720,0:22:49.840
they said we’re thrilled to have the
0:22:48.240,0:22:52.799
x-wing as an exhibit
0:22:49.840,0:22:53.360
and it is a real screen used vehicle
0:22:52.799,0:22:56.559
from
0:22:53.360,0:22:59.600
rise of skywalker from 2019
0:22:56.559,0:23:01.520
um and obviously
0:22:59.600,0:23:03.039
you know this is kind of cool and and
0:23:01.520,0:23:06.159
they talk about how
0:23:03.039,0:23:07.600
that this isn’t the first time that uh
0:23:06.159,0:23:09.919
star wars has been
0:23:07.600,0:23:12.400
part of the museum they actually had a
0:23:09.919,0:23:13.600
collection of screen used props and
0:23:12.400,0:23:16.640
costumes
0:23:13.600,0:23:19.520
um that were in a 1997
0:23:16.640,0:23:19.840
exhibit called the star wars the magic
0:23:19.520,0:23:23.760
of
0:23:19.840,0:23:25.120
myth um so again
0:23:23.760,0:23:27.520
very cool that this is going to be
0:23:25.120,0:23:30.320
coming i’m sure once it’s there
0:23:27.520,0:23:31.840
we’ll be planning a trip down to
0:23:30.320,0:23:35.679
washington dc
0:23:31.840,0:23:38.159
to go and visit this um okay so
0:23:35.679,0:23:39.280
for our viewing audience okay pictures
0:23:38.159,0:23:41.760
up on the screen now
0:23:39.280,0:23:43.760
okay what is the single one most iconic
0:23:41.760,0:23:47.520
thing that’s missing from this
0:23:43.760,0:23:50.240
uh fighter right now a droid yes the
0:23:47.520,0:23:51.440
droid is missing from the top
0:23:50.240,0:23:53.679
which droid are they going to put in
0:23:51.440,0:23:55.039
there i don’t know that’ll be the
0:23:53.679,0:23:56.640
question that’ll be interesting are you
0:23:55.039,0:23:59.279
going to get a bb unit
0:23:56.640,0:23:59.679
you’re going to get an r2 unit if you’re
0:23:59.279,0:24:02.480
going to be
0:23:59.679,0:24:03.840
accurate to the period you know it could
0:24:02.480,0:24:06.400
be a bb unit right
0:24:03.840,0:24:07.840
right so so anyway sorry i was just
0:24:06.400,0:24:11.200
geeking out no that’s okay
0:24:07.840,0:24:11.600
so uh again it is pl they don’t have a
0:24:11.200,0:24:13.840
date
0:24:11.600,0:24:15.600
yet obviously as clearly it needs a
0:24:13.840,0:24:17.760
little work it needs a little work
0:24:15.600,0:24:18.640
um but that was one of the other things
0:24:17.760,0:24:20.240
too
0:24:18.640,0:24:22.400
that they talked about in the article is
0:24:20.240,0:24:24.559
that they wanted to make sure
0:24:22.400,0:24:25.760
that the right things that needed to get
0:24:24.559,0:24:28.000
fixed
0:24:25.760,0:24:29.279
got fixed on it right you know if it was
0:24:28.000,0:24:31.360
damaged from
0:24:29.279,0:24:33.919
traveling they wanted to fix that but if
0:24:31.360,0:24:36.159
it was damaged from a space battle
0:24:33.919,0:24:38.159
they didn’t want to fix that and that’s
0:24:36.159,0:24:41.360
what’s funny because they talk about
0:24:38.159,0:24:42.960
um there’s a there’s a mention in the
0:24:41.360,0:24:45.760
article itself
0:24:42.960,0:24:46.000
about when it came in right it looked
0:24:45.760,0:24:48.400
like
0:24:46.000,0:24:49.440
it had hanger rash hanger rash being
0:24:48.400,0:24:50.400
when you’re moving things around a
0:24:49.440,0:24:53.760
hangar right
0:24:50.400,0:24:55.919
you get scuffed up and the the
0:24:53.760,0:24:57.679
person from lucasfilm said oh no that’s
0:24:55.919,0:25:00.240
the artist’s rendition of them
0:24:57.679,0:25:01.600
actually having a used lived-in looking
0:25:00.240,0:25:04.240
fighter so right
0:25:01.600,0:25:06.400
you know when this goes on display it’s
0:25:04.240,0:25:09.360
not going to be like a pristine
0:25:06.400,0:25:10.799
beautiful oh of course not of technology
0:25:09.360,0:25:12.000
it’s actually going to look like it’s a
0:25:10.799,0:25:14.000
screen used
0:25:12.000,0:25:15.200
fighter from a battle right which is
0:25:14.000,0:25:16.799
what’s really cool that they’re going
0:25:15.200,0:25:19.360
for that level of authenticity
0:25:16.799,0:25:20.320
yeah i think that’ll be very cool you
0:25:19.360,0:25:22.400
know and and
0:25:20.320,0:25:23.760
for those of you you know that don’t
0:25:22.400,0:25:25.360
live in the area or do
0:25:23.760,0:25:28.080
and and you haven’t been to the air and
0:25:25.360,0:25:31.360
space museum it is a very cool
0:25:28.080,0:25:32.720
uh museum to go to in general uh and
0:25:31.360,0:25:35.279
it’s nice because they’ve done
0:25:32.720,0:25:35.919
star trek stuff obviously like i
0:25:35.279,0:25:37.760
mentioned they
0:25:35.919,0:25:39.360
they’ve done star wars so it’s nice that
0:25:37.760,0:25:42.559
they bring in
0:25:39.360,0:25:42.799
uh you know and and for those that that
0:25:42.559,0:25:44.799
are
0:25:42.799,0:25:47.039
unfamiliar with it there are two
0:25:44.799,0:25:49.520
locations for the air and space museum
0:25:47.039,0:25:50.640
right remember that one’s on the mall at
0:25:49.520,0:25:52.960
the smithsonian
0:25:50.640,0:25:55.039
right the other one’s at the airport so
0:25:52.960,0:25:56.480
just be aware of that if you’re going to
0:25:55.039,0:25:59.440
go right you don’t want to miss
0:25:56.480,0:26:00.159
right this is the one at the this this
0:25:59.440,0:26:02.480
where the
0:26:00.159,0:26:03.440
the x-wing is going to be is the one on
0:26:02.480,0:26:06.480
the mall right
0:26:03.440,0:26:07.120
so right so but go to the airport right
0:26:06.480,0:26:08.640
extension
0:26:07.120,0:26:10.799
because that’s where all the big ones
0:26:08.640,0:26:12.799
are right in fact that’s where one of
0:26:10.799,0:26:14.240
the transformers movies have been filmed
0:26:12.799,0:26:16.799
where you see the
0:26:14.240,0:26:18.640
sr-71 transform as well right right
0:26:16.799,0:26:20.720
which is kind of cool
0:26:18.640,0:26:22.010
anyway let’s talk about who’s going to
0:26:20.720,0:26:23.360
replace jack sparrow
0:26:22.010,0:26:26.600
[Laughter]
0:26:23.360,0:26:28.080
so this article came up and it’s from
0:26:26.600,0:26:30.559
insidethemagic.net
0:26:28.080,0:26:31.679
and at first i was like oh okay so
0:26:30.559,0:26:33.679
they’re talking about
0:26:31.679,0:26:35.360
somebody that’s gonna replace you know a
0:26:33.679,0:26:36.640
star wars character that’s replacing
0:26:35.360,0:26:40.080
jack sparrow
0:26:36.640,0:26:42.640
and as you read the article nobody’s
0:26:40.080,0:26:45.760
really replacing jack sparrow
0:26:42.640,0:26:48.080
it’s a completely
0:26:45.760,0:26:48.960
it’s basically they were saying star
0:26:48.080,0:26:51.840
wars character
0:26:48.960,0:26:53.200
jack sparrow how can i draw a line
0:26:51.840,0:26:58.559
between the two
0:26:53.200,0:27:01.919
and it’s it’s so not there slow newsweek
0:26:58.559,0:27:03.120
so obviously johnny depp we’ve talked
0:27:01.919,0:27:06.000
about it before
0:27:03.120,0:27:07.520
he had a whole bunch of you know issues
0:27:06.000,0:27:10.159
in his private life
0:27:07.520,0:27:11.679
and basically disney kind of said uh
0:27:10.159,0:27:14.400
you’re out
0:27:11.679,0:27:15.200
he went the way of uh cara dune right
0:27:14.400,0:27:18.559
you know
0:27:15.200,0:27:20.159
and but not only did he lose out on jack
0:27:18.559,0:27:23.360
sparrow but he also lost
0:27:20.159,0:27:26.799
out on uh being part of
0:27:23.360,0:27:29.120
fantastic beasts as well so
0:27:26.799,0:27:30.080
basically they talk about how for the
0:27:29.120,0:27:33.600
newest
0:27:30.080,0:27:34.080
uh jack sparrow movie they’re bringing
0:27:33.600,0:27:36.559
in a
0:27:34.080,0:27:38.159
you know completely different character
0:27:36.559,0:27:40.720
so it’s not even so they’re not even
0:27:38.159,0:27:42.960
trying to replace johnny depp
0:27:40.720,0:27:44.399
um jack sparrow they’re bringing in a
0:27:42.960,0:27:46.000
completely different
0:27:44.399,0:27:49.840
just think of the budget they’ll save on
0:27:46.000,0:27:49.840
eye shadow
0:27:50.000,0:27:57.120
true um you know so uh margot robbie
0:27:53.520,0:28:00.320
is actually supposed to be the the helm
0:27:57.120,0:28:04.080
of pirate pirate six and then for
0:28:00.320,0:28:04.960
fantastic beats beasts um beats is the
0:28:04.080,0:28:08.720
musical version
0:28:04.960,0:28:11.679
right uh mads uh michelson
0:28:08.720,0:28:13.039
mickelson is supposed to be taking over
0:28:11.679,0:28:15.679
the character
0:28:13.039,0:28:17.200
um that johnny depp played but the
0:28:15.679,0:28:19.760
article
0:28:17.200,0:28:21.039
basically talks about how one of the
0:28:19.760,0:28:26.559
characters from
0:28:21.039,0:28:26.559
star wars is basically
0:28:26.720,0:28:33.360
he’s not replacing johnny depp but he’s
0:28:30.240,0:28:36.080
quote-unquote replacing that
0:28:33.360,0:28:36.480
pirate that he’s going to fill that hole
0:28:36.080,0:28:39.600
for
0:28:36.480,0:28:40.640
that scoundrel right that’s really you
0:28:39.600,0:28:43.919
know because
0:28:40.640,0:28:44.320
it talks more about how um the character
0:28:43.919,0:28:46.159
and
0:28:44.320,0:28:47.520
you can say his name because i know i
0:28:46.159,0:28:50.799
would hondu and naka
0:28:47.520,0:28:53.919
thank you that he he’s never
0:28:50.799,0:28:57.919
shown up in any live action
0:28:53.919,0:28:59.360
shows he’s shown up in various different
0:28:57.919,0:29:02.720
animated he was in
0:28:59.360,0:29:05.200
uh clone wars he was in rebels
0:29:02.720,0:29:06.720
um he hasn’t shown up in a bad match yet
0:29:05.200,0:29:09.360
but i suspect he probably will
0:29:06.720,0:29:10.960
right but that he’s also part of
0:29:09.360,0:29:14.640
galaxy’s edge
0:29:10.960,0:29:17.279
he plays a a part in in the rides
0:29:14.640,0:29:18.880
at galaxies he’s now storyline based
0:29:17.279,0:29:19.360
he’s just part owner of the millennium
0:29:18.880,0:29:22.159
falcon
0:29:19.360,0:29:22.559
right so the idea is that he’s kind of
0:29:22.159,0:29:25.760
the
0:29:22.559,0:29:26.480
space pirate he’s the space equivalent i
0:29:25.760,0:29:29.520
guess
0:29:26.480,0:29:31.039
of what jack sparrow would be and now
0:29:29.520,0:29:34.799
that you have
0:29:31.039,0:29:37.279
all of these plethora of star wars shows
0:29:34.799,0:29:40.080
live action shows coming don’t be
0:29:37.279,0:29:42.480
surprised if you see him pop up
0:29:40.080,0:29:44.480
in something in a live action well and
0:29:42.480,0:29:46.159
the beauty of it is is his audio
0:29:44.480,0:29:47.039
animatronic is so realistic they can
0:29:46.159,0:29:49.039
just
0:29:47.039,0:29:51.200
bring that out on stage and use that
0:29:49.039,0:29:54.000
yeah really they could
0:29:51.200,0:29:54.960
so the article was really long and it
0:29:54.000,0:29:57.840
was one of those
0:29:54.960,0:29:58.240
you kind of read through it and go so
0:29:57.840,0:30:01.279
what
0:29:58.240,0:30:03.440
star wars characters are placing oh
0:30:01.279,0:30:05.120
no not even the voice actor is going to
0:30:03.440,0:30:06.880
be in the johnny depp movies
0:30:05.120,0:30:08.559
right there’s no literally no connection
0:30:06.880,0:30:10.480
whatsoever it’s just
0:30:08.559,0:30:12.399
filling that role of that scoundrel
0:30:10.480,0:30:13.360
pirate right since johnny depp’s not
0:30:12.399,0:30:17.120
doing any more
0:30:13.360,0:30:19.600
hey right if you’re missing pirates
0:30:17.120,0:30:20.320
come on over to this guy that was really
0:30:19.600,0:30:22.559
what it is
0:30:20.320,0:30:24.720
it was in reading the article it was a
0:30:22.559,0:30:26.320
desperate attempt to draw a parallel
0:30:24.720,0:30:28.720
right and it was and it wasn’t like it
0:30:26.320,0:30:31.679
was short it was a short article it was
0:30:28.720,0:30:32.320
so hey i give credit to the person who
0:30:31.679,0:30:34.960
wrote it
0:30:32.320,0:30:36.559
and this was this was a desperate
0:30:34.960,0:30:37.840
attempt to get star wars fans like
0:30:36.559,0:30:39.039
pirates of the caribbean if you didn’t
0:30:37.840,0:30:40.960
already like it i guess
0:30:39.039,0:30:42.080
yeah yeah so that was that was pretty
0:30:40.960,0:30:44.399
much it yeah
0:30:42.080,0:30:47.120
and that was all we had for our tales
0:30:44.399,0:30:49.840
from the edge of the galaxy this week
0:30:47.120,0:30:51.919
we’ll be right back with uh what are we
0:30:49.840,0:30:53.360
doing now oh entertainment news that’s
0:30:51.919,0:30:56.080
what we do here right
0:30:53.360,0:30:56.080
we’ll be right back

0:32:06.880,0:32:09.919
go for entertainment news so this was
0:32:09.440,0:32:12.840
actually
0:32:09.919,0:32:14.080
kind of a funny story this came from
0:32:12.840,0:32:16.760
cbr.com
0:32:14.080,0:32:18.960
and it says that the boys had issued an
0:32:16.760,0:32:22.159
appropriately harsh warning
0:32:18.960,0:32:25.440
to those begging for season three so
0:32:22.159,0:32:27.760
amazon prime’s videos um the
0:32:25.440,0:32:30.960
the boys has issued a warning to fans
0:32:27.760,0:32:33.120
asking for a season 3 release date
0:32:30.960,0:32:35.120
so from their official twitter account
0:32:33.120,0:32:37.120
they had said every time you ask when
0:32:35.120,0:32:38.880
season 3 is coming out
0:32:37.120,0:32:43.600
the release date gets pushed back one
0:32:38.880,0:32:45.760
more day see you in 2033.
0:32:43.600,0:32:46.960
so while details obviously regarding the
0:32:45.760,0:32:49.200
third season
0:32:46.960,0:32:50.880
of the original series are slowly being
0:32:49.200,0:32:51.760
released an official release debt
0:32:50.880,0:32:54.640
obvious
0:32:51.760,0:32:56.320
release date hasn’t been announced yet
0:32:54.640,0:33:00.399
and this isn’t the first time that they
0:32:56.320,0:33:03.120
teased fans about the season 3 date
0:33:00.399,0:33:03.519
in may the account tweeted a post from
0:33:03.120,0:33:06.960
the
0:33:03.519,0:33:09.440
mtv mu movie and tv awards
0:33:06.960,0:33:10.640
account where fans submitted questions
0:33:09.440,0:33:13.519
uh for series star
0:33:10.640,0:33:14.320
jack quaid to answer during the awards
0:33:13.519,0:33:17.360
pop-up
0:33:14.320,0:33:18.880
pre-show and basically it was you know
0:33:17.360,0:33:21.600
when season three
0:33:18.880,0:33:24.080
so everybody’s obviously itching for it
0:33:21.600,0:33:27.200
but season three began filming in late
0:33:24.080,0:33:28.240
january 2021 after production delays
0:33:27.200,0:33:32.080
obviously
0:33:28.240,0:33:36.000
due to the pandemic um so the showrunner
0:33:32.080,0:33:38.399
basically had you know again said um
0:33:36.000,0:33:39.440
that no date had been set but teased
0:33:38.399,0:33:42.080
that it would be a
0:33:39.440,0:33:42.480
mind-blowing first episode calling it
0:33:42.080,0:33:45.760
both
0:33:42.480,0:33:48.240
insane and special um the
0:33:45.760,0:33:50.559
boys twitter account also had responded
0:33:48.240,0:33:53.519
saying that the editing room
0:33:50.559,0:33:54.159
uh floor is fully covered in gore
0:33:53.519,0:33:58.240
already
0:33:54.159,0:34:02.240
and we’re only on working on episode one
0:33:58.240,0:34:04.399
so i can only imagine
0:34:02.240,0:34:06.480
what’s gonna be blown up and who’s not
0:34:04.399,0:34:08.480
gonna survive
0:34:06.480,0:34:10.639
well you still have a superhero out
0:34:08.480,0:34:11.200
there you know blowing people’s heads up
0:34:10.639,0:34:12.480
so that’s
0:34:11.200,0:34:15.520
right you’re gonna see a lot of that
0:34:12.480,0:34:17.599
right so it’ll be babies with freaking
0:34:15.520,0:34:19.599
laser beams babies with laser beams so
0:34:17.599,0:34:21.200
obviously the majority of the cast that
0:34:19.599,0:34:24.000
didn’t get blown up
0:34:21.200,0:34:25.040
uh at the end of season two will be back
0:34:24.000,0:34:26.960
which isn’t that many
0:34:25.040,0:34:28.399
which isn’t that many but there’s uh
0:34:26.960,0:34:29.839
there’s a bunch and then obviously they
0:34:28.399,0:34:32.399
have some new people
0:34:29.839,0:34:32.879
uh that are are joining the cast as well
0:34:32.399,0:34:35.440
so
0:34:32.879,0:34:36.639
so i will say as much as i’m looking
0:34:35.440,0:34:39.200
forward to a season
0:34:36.639,0:34:40.720
three invincible is doing a very good
0:34:39.200,0:34:43.839
job of tidying me
0:34:40.720,0:34:46.480
until then yes that’s a very good gap
0:34:43.839,0:34:48.960
filler so for those of you who are fans
0:34:46.480,0:34:52.079
of the boys who kind of need to
0:34:48.960,0:34:54.720
fill that jones for some superhero
0:34:52.079,0:34:54.720
massacres
0:34:55.440,0:35:00.000
also on amazon prime video is a good
0:34:58.160,0:35:01.440
filler for that
0:35:00.000,0:35:03.680
but yeah definitely waiting to see this
0:35:01.440,0:35:08.079
one come back yeah
0:35:03.680,0:35:10.880
what else do we have poor harrison ford
0:35:08.079,0:35:12.880
so from variety.com it seems that
0:35:10.880,0:35:16.160
harrison ford got injured
0:35:12.880,0:35:18.560
while filming indiana jones 5. uh
0:35:16.160,0:35:19.280
so did the millennium falcon door crash
0:35:18.560,0:35:22.240
on him again
0:35:19.280,0:35:25.440
no it seems he sustained a shoulder
0:35:22.240,0:35:27.839
injury on the set of indiana jones 5
0:35:25.440,0:35:28.800
requiring the actor to take a hiatus
0:35:27.839,0:35:31.200
from filming
0:35:28.800,0:35:32.880
while treatment is evaluated in the
0:35:31.200,0:35:35.599
meantime the director
0:35:32.880,0:35:36.240
james mangold will continue to shoot
0:35:35.599,0:35:40.880
without
0:35:36.240,0:35:43.680
ford um a disney chevy’s
0:35:40.880,0:35:44.320
that’s funny a disney spokesperson had
0:35:43.680,0:35:46.480
said
0:35:44.320,0:35:48.320
in the course of rehearsing a fight
0:35:46.480,0:35:50.800
scene harrison ford sustained an
0:35:48.320,0:35:52.640
injury involving his shoulder production
0:35:50.800,0:35:53.920
will continue while the appropriate
0:35:52.640,0:35:56.720
course of treatment
0:35:53.920,0:35:57.920
is evaluated and the filming schedule
0:35:56.720,0:36:00.800
will be config
0:35:57.920,0:36:01.920
configured excuse me as needed in the
0:36:00.800,0:36:04.960
coming weeks
0:36:01.920,0:36:07.359
uh the extent of his injury is
0:36:04.960,0:36:09.119
unknown um though it’s hardly the first
0:36:07.359,0:36:11.440
time that he’s hurt himself
0:36:09.119,0:36:13.680
during the making of a movie in the past
0:36:11.440,0:36:16.160
he suffered a serious back injury on
0:36:13.680,0:36:18.560
indiana jones and the temple of doom
0:36:16.160,0:36:19.520
and then he had the leg trauma when he
0:36:18.560,0:36:21.760
was filming
0:36:19.520,0:36:23.359
the force awakens when the millennium
0:36:21.760,0:36:25.680
falcon dwarf well he had that
0:36:23.359,0:36:27.680
major injury when he did indiana jones
0:36:25.680,0:36:29.040
in a kingdom of crystal skull
0:36:27.680,0:36:31.920
that injured it was ego because the
0:36:29.040,0:36:31.920
movie was so bad
0:36:32.320,0:36:39.280
what oh and who else is in this movie
0:36:36.160,0:36:41.280
meds nicholson right because
0:36:39.280,0:36:42.720
like he and the rock are in competition
0:36:41.280,0:36:45.760
for who can be in the most
0:36:42.720,0:36:48.560
movies in a year right true true and you
0:36:45.760,0:36:52.160
figure what he’s done star wars he’s
0:36:48.560,0:36:54.400
you know he’s he’s gonna do um
0:36:52.160,0:36:55.280
the fantastic beasts now he’s indiana
0:36:54.400,0:36:57.520
jones he’s
0:36:55.280,0:36:59.040
marvel he did marvel so he’s kind of you
0:36:57.520,0:36:59.839
know right he’s everywhere plotting
0:36:59.040,0:37:02.640
around so
0:36:59.839,0:37:04.880
um the production actually began earlier
0:37:02.640,0:37:05.599
this month in the uk the plot details
0:37:04.880,0:37:07.920
for the sequel
0:37:05.599,0:37:09.040
haven’t been announced yet uh though the
0:37:07.920,0:37:11.520
78
0:37:09.040,0:37:12.400
year old ford is reprising his iconic
0:37:11.520,0:37:14.640
role
0:37:12.400,0:37:16.160
um indiana jones had been delayed
0:37:14.640,0:37:19.280
several times and is currently
0:37:16.160,0:37:22.320
scheduled to de uh debut in theaters
0:37:19.280,0:37:25.520
on july 29th of 2022
0:37:22.320,0:37:28.960
and it’s actually almost 15 years
0:37:25.520,0:37:30.720
after the most recent indiana jones and
0:37:28.960,0:37:32.800
the kingdom of the crystal skulls
0:37:30.720,0:37:34.560
i didn’t even think it was that long ago
0:37:32.800,0:37:36.240
like yeah it’s so bad it feels like it
0:37:34.560,0:37:38.960
was just yesterday
0:37:36.240,0:37:40.800
i knew you were gonna say that and four
0:37:38.960,0:37:43.839
decades
0:37:40.800,0:37:44.800
after the initial installment of the
0:37:43.839,0:37:47.119
1981
0:37:44.800,0:37:49.280
raiders of the lost ark now steven
0:37:47.119,0:37:51.200
spielberg who directed
0:37:49.280,0:37:52.880
the first four films of the franchise
0:37:51.200,0:37:56.240
was initially set
0:37:52.880,0:37:59.599
to direct uh indiana jones five
0:37:56.240,0:38:01.520
but he actually passed it off to mangold
0:37:59.599,0:38:04.160
uh he’s like oh man he sent me and i’m
0:38:01.520,0:38:06.960
out of here i’m not
0:38:04.160,0:38:09.200
right so spielberg is still expected to
0:38:06.960,0:38:11.599
remain hands-on as a producer
0:38:09.200,0:38:14.000
while george lucas who had created
0:38:11.599,0:38:15.760
indiana jones with spielberg
0:38:14.000,0:38:18.160
trying to weasel his way back into star
0:38:15.760,0:38:18.480
wars hasn’t officially been involved
0:38:18.160,0:38:21.839
with
0:38:18.480,0:38:23.200
indy 5 yet at 78 years old this man
0:38:21.839,0:38:23.760
needs a stunt double to go to the
0:38:23.200,0:38:26.240
bathroom
0:38:23.760,0:38:27.520
how’s he getting hurt in a rehearsing a
0:38:26.240,0:38:29.520
fight scene
0:38:27.520,0:38:31.359
like he shouldn’t be doing anything that
0:38:29.520,0:38:32.160
requires him to exert himself at this
0:38:31.359,0:38:34.640
point right
0:38:32.160,0:38:36.560
well and the other thing too which i
0:38:34.640,0:38:39.920
know i had mentioned it to you before
0:38:36.560,0:38:40.720
um was when you figure out that the time
0:38:39.920,0:38:44.560
frame
0:38:40.720,0:38:47.040
of everything um the whole paradox
0:38:44.560,0:38:47.680
thing so when indiana jones you know
0:38:47.040,0:38:50.160
first
0:38:47.680,0:38:52.960
started it was you know what year was it
0:38:50.160,0:38:56.400
or whatever now we’re 40 years later
0:38:52.960,0:38:57.359
so it’s technically like the early 70s
0:38:56.400,0:39:00.000
it should be
0:38:57.359,0:39:01.760
indiana jones has gone to woodstock
0:39:00.000,0:39:03.599
right so indiana jones
0:39:01.760,0:39:04.800
should possibly maybe be able to go to
0:39:03.599,0:39:07.440
the movies
0:39:04.800,0:39:08.800
and see star wars a new hope right which
0:39:07.440,0:39:10.880
would kind of be funny
0:39:08.800,0:39:12.160
indiana jones get off my longer damn
0:39:10.880,0:39:15.200
kids
0:39:12.160,0:39:16.880
tiana jones at the at the nursing home
0:39:15.200,0:39:19.280
indiana jones and the revenge of the
0:39:16.880,0:39:19.280
walker
0:39:19.839,0:39:25.119
like come on man like well and that was
0:39:23.040,0:39:28.320
the thing because after crystal skull
0:39:25.119,0:39:30.320
it was kind of like i’m passing it on
0:39:28.320,0:39:32.720
to the next generation right and he
0:39:30.320,0:39:33.200
didn’t because he picked up the hat and
0:39:32.720,0:39:36.320
walked
0:39:33.200,0:39:38.320
out of the church right had he let the
0:39:36.320,0:39:40.720
kid pick up the hat
0:39:38.320,0:39:42.000
you’d have wacko shia labeouf running
0:39:40.720,0:39:43.920
around or you could have just
0:39:42.000,0:39:45.839
put somebody else in it yeah you could
0:39:43.920,0:39:47.520
have recanted it’s been 15 years you
0:39:45.839,0:39:48.720
know you could have
0:39:47.520,0:39:51.760
could have been you could have recast
0:39:48.720,0:39:53.839
someone slightly more seen in the part
0:39:51.760,0:39:55.280
i know who you could have could have had
0:39:53.839,0:39:56.960
who’s that your favorite
0:39:55.280,0:39:58.720
your favorite actor i wouldn’t be a
0:39:56.960,0:40:01.920
pilot oh god no
0:39:58.720,0:40:05.040
i thought you’re gonna say nicholas cage
0:40:01.920,0:40:06.640
i wasn’t gonna do that all right
0:40:05.040,0:40:08.960
i think that’s it i don’t want to be the
0:40:06.640,0:40:10.400
dead horse because the horses
0:40:08.960,0:40:12.720
it’s fine you know i think they should
0:40:10.400,0:40:13.760
be okay you know he’s gonna survive as
0:40:12.720,0:40:16.640
long as he doesn’t
0:40:13.760,0:40:18.319
get in a plane he should be fine because
0:40:16.640,0:40:19.760
he doesn’t fly very well either maybe he
0:40:18.319,0:40:22.079
doesn’t fly anymore so
0:40:19.760,0:40:23.119
um anyway 78 years old you shouldn’t be
0:40:22.079,0:40:25.839
flying or fighting
0:40:23.119,0:40:27.040
yeah that’s just golden rule there right
0:40:25.839,0:40:29.440
anyway that’s all we have for our
0:40:27.040,0:40:33.599
entertainment news we’ll be right back
0:40:29.440,0:40:33.599
with our insightful picks
0:40:35.460,0:40:39.200
[Applause]
0:40:37.040,0:40:40.160
go for your insightful thing so my
0:40:39.200,0:40:42.800
insightful pick
0:40:40.160,0:40:45.200
is a show that a friend of mine had uh
0:40:42.800,0:40:48.319
recommended to me that’s on netflix
0:40:45.200,0:40:52.480
it is called schtiesel um
0:40:48.319,0:40:56.240
and it is about an ultra orthodox
0:40:52.480,0:40:57.760
family who live in one of the areas of
0:40:56.240,0:41:01.040
jerusalem that is
0:40:57.760,0:41:03.760
obviously um not obviously but where
0:41:01.040,0:41:04.960
the ultra orthodox live and basically
0:41:03.760,0:41:08.400
talks about
0:41:04.960,0:41:11.359
uh goes through their love and loss and
0:41:08.400,0:41:12.000
their basic dealings with daily life and
0:41:11.359,0:41:13.920
how they
0:41:12.000,0:41:15.440
they surround it what’s interesting
0:41:13.920,0:41:18.880
about it is
0:41:15.440,0:41:19.280
it’s very much you know as i’m watching
0:41:18.880,0:41:22.240
this
0:41:19.280,0:41:22.800
it’s very much the the jewish equivalent
0:41:22.240,0:41:26.400
of
0:41:22.800,0:41:28.960
this is us in a lot of ways um you have
0:41:26.400,0:41:32.240
the the matriarch of the family
0:41:28.960,0:41:33.200
uh who with in the past year has lost
0:41:32.240,0:41:35.920
his wife
0:41:33.200,0:41:36.960
so he’s still dealing with that then you
0:41:35.920,0:41:40.160
have all of
0:41:36.960,0:41:43.440
their patriarchy the patriarch i’m sorry
0:41:40.160,0:41:45.760
because the matriarch passed away um and
0:41:43.440,0:41:47.359
he’s dealing with that and how to kind
0:41:45.760,0:41:50.960
of move on with his life
0:41:47.359,0:41:53.520
then all of his children kind of
0:41:50.960,0:41:54.240
have their own issues as well the one
0:41:53.520,0:41:57.280
son
0:41:54.240,0:42:00.319
had a promising singing career but
0:41:57.280,0:42:00.800
was never was pushed to be a scholar and
0:42:00.319,0:42:03.040
not
0:42:00.800,0:42:04.720
a musician and you kind of see that his
0:42:03.040,0:42:06.319
dreams didn’t come true
0:42:04.720,0:42:08.240
and then you have the one daughter who
0:42:06.319,0:42:10.160
has marital problems and
0:42:08.240,0:42:12.160
and problems with her her children and
0:42:10.160,0:42:14.640
is trying to kind of move on
0:42:12.160,0:42:16.400
and then the one son who’s the youngest
0:42:14.640,0:42:19.359
of the family
0:42:16.400,0:42:20.480
gets engaged like multiple times and it
0:42:19.359,0:42:22.960
isn’t until like
0:42:20.480,0:42:24.079
the third time that it finally kind of
0:42:22.960,0:42:27.520
works out
0:42:24.079,0:42:30.560
um so it’s an interesting
0:42:27.520,0:42:35.200
um dynamic you know again
0:42:30.560,0:42:38.720
the the themes are are very much
0:42:35.200,0:42:41.200
your normal family drama type
0:42:38.720,0:42:42.319
thing you know what’s interesting is
0:42:41.200,0:42:44.800
they do
0:42:42.319,0:42:45.440
some flashbacks kind of like this is us
0:42:44.800,0:42:48.800
does
0:42:45.440,0:42:50.960
but they also do a lot of
0:42:48.800,0:42:53.040
ghosts kind of showing up you know
0:42:50.960,0:42:55.280
people kind of having dreams
0:42:53.040,0:42:56.160
about various relatives that are no
0:42:55.280,0:42:59.200
longer there
0:42:56.160,0:43:02.400
and kind of trying to get their opinion
0:42:59.200,0:43:05.520
of of things so the series
0:43:02.400,0:43:08.160
actually premiered in 2013
0:43:05.520,0:43:10.079
uh the first two seasons kind of were
0:43:08.160,0:43:13.359
filmed back to back and they were
0:43:10.079,0:43:13.920
12 episodes each but then the third
0:43:13.359,0:43:17.040
season
0:43:13.920,0:43:18.560
actually didn’t start um until seven
0:43:17.040,0:43:21.599
years later so
0:43:18.560,0:43:24.079
uh i just started season three
0:43:21.599,0:43:24.960
and what’s interesting is it’s a seven
0:43:24.079,0:43:28.160
year time
0:43:24.960,0:43:29.760
gap uh time jump and they still have all
0:43:28.160,0:43:31.920
of the same actors so
0:43:29.760,0:43:33.760
you know from season two where somebody
0:43:31.920,0:43:35.920
was 13 years old
0:43:33.760,0:43:37.920
now they’re an adult you know what some
0:43:35.920,0:43:38.720
of the the grandkids and and things like
0:43:37.920,0:43:42.079
that and
0:43:38.720,0:43:43.119
um so you get to kind of find out what
0:43:42.079,0:43:46.079
happened in that
0:43:43.119,0:43:46.640
four year uh that that seven year time
0:43:46.079,0:43:49.440
frame
0:43:46.640,0:43:50.560
um from various articles there is
0:43:49.440,0:43:53.920
supposed to be
0:43:50.560,0:43:56.400
a season four uh the biggest problem is
0:43:53.920,0:43:58.400
trying to
0:43:56.400,0:43:59.760
write it you know because the reason why
0:43:58.400,0:44:01.440
they had that gap
0:43:59.760,0:44:03.599
was they kind of had writer’s block the
0:44:01.440,0:44:05.359
the writers kind of went and wrote some
0:44:03.599,0:44:06.000
other things and then kind of came back
0:44:05.359,0:44:08.240
to it
0:44:06.000,0:44:09.599
the other thing too is at the time when
0:44:08.240,0:44:12.079
this was done
0:44:09.599,0:44:13.200
all of the actors were kind of unknowns
0:44:12.079,0:44:16.079
like you know they
0:44:13.200,0:44:16.640
kind of knew you know if you were from
0:44:16.079,0:44:18.720
israel
0:44:16.640,0:44:20.000
you knew the actors but if you were from
0:44:18.720,0:44:23.040
any place else you didn’t
0:44:20.000,0:44:25.119
really know them now they have much more
0:44:23.040,0:44:26.720
of a notoriety so now of course the
0:44:25.119,0:44:29.200
budget’s gonna be higher
0:44:26.720,0:44:30.480
and it’s gonna be harder to film and
0:44:29.200,0:44:32.480
things like that so
0:44:30.480,0:44:34.560
it might be a little while until the
0:44:32.480,0:44:37.119
next one but there is supposed to be
0:44:34.560,0:44:37.680
a season four so it you know the other
0:44:37.119,0:44:40.720
thing too
0:44:37.680,0:44:43.760
is it’s all in hebrew or yiddish
0:44:40.720,0:44:47.680
so um
0:44:43.760,0:44:50.160
so there’s it’s subtitles for everything
0:44:47.680,0:44:52.319
so if you’re not used to watching
0:44:50.160,0:44:52.800
subtitles it takes a little getting used
0:44:52.319,0:44:54.160
to
0:44:52.800,0:44:56.079
it’s definitely one of those things you
0:44:54.160,0:44:58.079
can’t look away when there’s an argument
0:44:56.079,0:45:01.760
going on because you’re going to miss
0:44:58.079,0:45:05.440
half of the the fight but very well done
0:45:01.760,0:45:07.520
and like i said if you like this is us
0:45:05.440,0:45:08.800
you know if you’re not jewish there
0:45:07.520,0:45:10.640
might be some things that you
0:45:08.800,0:45:12.319
might not really understand but for the
0:45:10.640,0:45:15.280
most part it’s not
0:45:12.319,0:45:16.400
over the top with you know certain
0:45:15.280,0:45:17.920
things where
0:45:16.400,0:45:19.520
you just kind of you know it’s just kind
0:45:17.920,0:45:20.480
of part of the story but you don’t need
0:45:19.520,0:45:23.359
to know
0:45:20.480,0:45:23.680
certain things to to follow it okay good
0:45:23.359,0:45:25.119
pick
0:45:23.680,0:45:32.480
thank you i’ll read the book when it
0:45:25.119,0:45:35.760
comes out
0:45:32.480,0:45:40.079
so my pick this week we’re going back to
0:45:35.760,0:45:42.400
my roots of uh documentaries
0:45:40.079,0:45:45.200
and my pick this week is the jupiter
0:45:42.400,0:45:47.359
enigma on amazon prime
0:45:45.200,0:45:48.480
what can the red at the giant planet
0:45:47.359,0:45:51.040
jupiter tell us
0:45:48.480,0:45:53.200
about the birth of our solar system 5
0:45:51.040,0:45:55.760
billion years ago
0:45:53.200,0:45:56.640
drawing on new findings from nasa’s juno
0:45:55.760,0:45:58.880
mission
0:45:56.640,0:46:00.160
scientists are peering into jupiter’s
0:45:58.880,0:46:03.280
stormy heart
0:46:00.160,0:46:04.240
to reveal the very origins of our solar
0:46:03.280,0:46:06.720
system
0:46:04.240,0:46:07.440
a chaotic early time when smaller
0:46:06.720,0:46:10.240
planets were
0:46:07.440,0:46:12.000
flung around space or sent into
0:46:10.240,0:46:14.319
shattering collisions
0:46:12.000,0:46:15.040
and the fate of planet earth hung in the
0:46:14.319,0:46:16.400
balance
0:46:15.040,0:46:18.400
sounds exciting doesn’t it when they
0:46:16.400,0:46:20.400
write it like that sure does
0:46:18.400,0:46:22.560
the juno probe is the most recent
0:46:20.400,0:46:24.800
visitor to jupiter
0:46:22.560,0:46:26.800
orbiting and examining jupiter with a
0:46:24.800,0:46:29.520
variety of instruments
0:46:26.800,0:46:31.440
it provides a new understanding of the
0:46:29.520,0:46:32.880
storms on the planet and jupiter’s
0:46:31.440,0:46:35.359
interior
0:46:32.880,0:46:36.079
new simulations examine the impact of
0:46:35.359,0:46:38.960
jupiter
0:46:36.079,0:46:40.000
on the evolution of the solar system so
0:46:38.960,0:46:42.480
using a mix
0:46:40.000,0:46:44.640
of computer generated graphics artistic
0:46:42.480,0:46:46.560
renderings and actual high-quality
0:46:44.640,0:46:49.760
footage from juno
0:46:46.560,0:46:51.440
the jupiter enigma explores the solar
0:46:49.760,0:46:55.040
system’s largest planet
0:46:51.440,0:46:56.800
in a detail never seen before
0:46:55.040,0:46:58.240
from its influence on the creation of
0:46:56.800,0:47:00.560
our solar system
0:46:58.240,0:47:03.200
to the detail and incredible scientific
0:47:00.560,0:47:04.960
potential of its dozens of moons
0:47:03.200,0:47:07.200
there’s a wealth of knowledge about the
0:47:04.960,0:47:09.359
planet revealed in the show
0:47:07.200,0:47:11.280
did you know jupiter is the fastest
0:47:09.359,0:47:13.440
spinning planet in the solar system
0:47:11.280,0:47:16.079
i did not did you know that jupiter’s
0:47:13.440,0:47:18.480
clouds are only five kilometers thick
0:47:16.079,0:47:20.480
nope despite the size of the planet did
0:47:18.480,0:47:22.720
you know jupiter has its own system of
0:47:20.480,0:47:24.640
rings similar to saturn
0:47:22.720,0:47:27.119
yes okay well maybe you learn it
0:47:24.640,0:47:27.119
somewhere else
0:47:27.440,0:47:30.960
i didn’t realize this was a quiz did you
0:47:30.079,0:47:34.000
know
0:47:30.960,0:47:35.760
these where were you on the night of it
0:47:34.000,0:47:38.400
uh these and many other interesting
0:47:35.760,0:47:40.400
scientific facts are explored in great
0:47:38.400,0:47:43.440
detail in the show
0:47:40.400,0:47:46.400
the jupiter enigma available streaming
0:47:43.440,0:47:48.400
on amazon prime and we’ll be right back
0:47:46.400,0:47:50.319
with our
0:47:48.400,0:47:54.079
afterthoughts right forgot what we
0:47:50.319,0:47:54.079
called them it was an afterthought to me
0:47:56.150,0:48:00.480
[Applause]
0:47:58.000,0:48:02.079
go with our afterthoughts so just like
0:48:00.480,0:48:04.240
we had mentioned
0:48:02.079,0:48:05.119
last week now it seems there’s a couple
0:48:04.240,0:48:08.000
more
0:48:05.119,0:48:08.720
conventions that are popping up so we
0:48:08.000,0:48:11.520
had mentioned
0:48:08.720,0:48:13.000
monster mania which you can find all the
0:48:11.520,0:48:15.280
information on
0:48:13.000,0:48:16.079
monstermania.net so you have monster
0:48:15.280,0:48:19.760
mania
0:48:16.079,0:48:23.359
46 which will be in august
0:48:19.760,0:48:24.160
in cherry hill then monster mania 47
0:48:23.359,0:48:27.520
which will be
0:48:24.160,0:48:30.880
in september in hunt valley maryland
0:48:27.520,0:48:32.000
and then monster mania 48 which will be
0:48:30.880,0:48:34.960
in october
0:48:32.000,0:48:35.359
at the greater philadelphia expo center
0:48:34.960,0:48:37.760
in
0:48:35.359,0:48:38.400
oaks which is the first time ever that
0:48:37.760,0:48:40.559
they
0:48:38.400,0:48:41.599
are going to be in that location so that
0:48:40.559,0:48:44.800
was kind of
0:48:41.599,0:48:48.960
exciting news um then we have
0:48:44.800,0:48:51.599
retro con retro car which is
0:48:48.960,0:48:53.520
um also going to be at the greater
0:48:51.599,0:48:56.319
philadelphia expo center
0:48:53.520,0:48:57.839
and that will be uh the end of september
0:48:56.319,0:49:01.040
the 26th
0:48:57.839,0:49:04.400
and the 27th uh so that’s a nice
0:49:01.040,0:49:05.280
uh smaller kind of uh event it’s usually
0:49:04.400,0:49:09.599
just held in
0:49:05.280,0:49:12.960
in one of the uh the areas of
0:49:09.599,0:49:13.359
um one of the four wings right one of
0:49:12.960,0:49:15.520
the
0:49:13.359,0:49:18.079
and they usually have a couple of guests
0:49:15.520,0:49:19.760
um but it’s mostly retro toys and
0:49:18.079,0:49:22.000
the only show i’ve ever been to where
0:49:19.760,0:49:24.240
the gi joe costuming club shows up
0:49:22.000,0:49:25.119
yeah which is really cool yeah that that
0:49:24.240,0:49:28.839
was cool
0:49:25.119,0:49:31.599
uh then big news wizard world
0:49:28.839,0:49:34.960
philadelphia so they
0:49:31.599,0:49:39.440
had so tickets i believe they’re on
0:49:34.960,0:49:41.920
sale um but it was kind of weird the the
0:49:39.440,0:49:45.599
site that they had available plus the
0:49:41.920,0:49:48.880
the photo ops are already sold out um
0:49:45.599,0:49:51.280
or maybe they just haven’t opened them
0:49:48.880,0:49:52.000
up yet because it was originally
0:49:51.280,0:49:54.880
scheduled
0:49:52.000,0:49:56.800
for january january was rescheduled that
0:49:54.880,0:49:58.240
was a reschedule of the last one
0:49:56.800,0:50:01.119
right because it was supposed to be in
0:49:58.240,0:50:04.480
2020 they rescheduled it to
0:50:01.119,0:50:06.640
january of 2021. obviously
0:50:04.480,0:50:08.559
that came and went so now it’s going to
0:50:06.640,0:50:12.079
be november
0:50:08.559,0:50:15.200
uh 12th 13th and 14th and
0:50:12.079,0:50:18.960
i guess for whatever reason it’s
0:50:15.200,0:50:20.880
normally in downtown philadelphia at the
0:50:18.960,0:50:23.359
convention center
0:50:20.880,0:50:24.800
this time for the first time ever this
0:50:23.359,0:50:27.280
is going to be
0:50:24.800,0:50:28.079
at the greater philadelphia expo center
0:50:27.280,0:50:30.800
in oaks
0:50:28.079,0:50:32.000
that convention center is just exploding
0:50:30.800,0:50:34.480
now i think
0:50:32.000,0:50:36.400
like everything if nothing else the
0:50:34.480,0:50:37.920
pandemic has caused people to discover
0:50:36.400,0:50:40.160
the greater philadelphia expo center
0:50:37.920,0:50:42.160
yeah you know like and as we mentioned
0:50:40.160,0:50:43.839
you know before for us it’s a little bit
0:50:42.160,0:50:46.960
further out of the way
0:50:43.839,0:50:48.880
than going to philly but but i’d rather
0:50:46.960,0:50:50.160
do that than to deal with the city
0:50:48.880,0:50:51.680
you don’t have to deal with the city you
0:50:50.160,0:50:54.800
don’t have to deal with trying to find
0:50:51.680,0:50:57.760
parking because that’s always a pain
0:50:54.800,0:50:58.240
and a fortune and a fortune you know so
0:50:57.760,0:51:00.160
you
0:50:58.240,0:51:01.680
drive a little bit further but you got
0:51:00.160,0:51:04.960
free parking
0:51:01.680,0:51:07.440
and it’s you know very open
0:51:04.960,0:51:08.240
and and you know we’ve never been there
0:51:07.440,0:51:11.920
at night but
0:51:08.240,0:51:13.680
very well lit uh so and just
0:51:11.920,0:51:15.839
it’s a convention center that we’ve
0:51:13.680,0:51:16.640
enjoyed going to for various different
0:51:15.839,0:51:20.160
events
0:51:16.640,0:51:23.119
um so okay we’ll just keep going there
0:51:20.160,0:51:23.599
um and then as we had mentioned uh that
0:51:23.119,0:51:26.800
in
0:51:23.599,0:51:28.880
december uh is the ocean city
0:51:26.800,0:51:30.480
comic con this was one that we haven’t
0:51:28.880,0:51:33.359
been able to go to before
0:51:30.480,0:51:35.760
but now we are planning on doing this uh
0:51:33.359,0:51:38.160
the ocean city comic con is just a
0:51:35.760,0:51:39.280
one-day event on december 11th where all
0:51:38.160,0:51:42.559
the other ones
0:51:39.280,0:51:44.400
are two or three day um events
0:51:42.559,0:51:46.640
so it’s neat because if you look at the
0:51:44.400,0:51:48.559
lineup and and we’ll post it in the show
0:51:46.640,0:51:51.599
notes if you look at the lineup
0:51:48.559,0:51:51.920
there’s literally a convention pretty
0:51:51.599,0:51:54.000
much
0:51:51.920,0:51:55.280
every month from here until december
0:51:54.000,0:51:57.920
right there’s nothing until
0:51:55.280,0:51:59.359
august right so you have august you have
0:51:57.920,0:52:02.400
cherry hill
0:51:59.359,0:52:06.000
then september you have
0:52:02.400,0:52:08.480
the retro con and monster mania
0:52:06.000,0:52:11.040
which are actually the same weekend then
0:52:08.480,0:52:13.760
you have the other monster mania in
0:52:11.040,0:52:14.640
october then you have wizard world in
0:52:13.760,0:52:17.520
november
0:52:14.640,0:52:18.400
and then you have uh ocean city in
0:52:17.520,0:52:21.440
december
0:52:18.400,0:52:23.280
so and i’m sure that you know as as
0:52:21.440,0:52:24.800
restrictions are lifted and people start
0:52:23.280,0:52:26.160
scheduling stuff
0:52:24.800,0:52:28.960
you know one of the other ones that we
0:52:26.160,0:52:32.079
do like uh to do is the classic toy show
0:52:28.960,0:52:33.200
down in uh the nurse shrine right right
0:52:32.079,0:52:36.000
they had to cancel those
0:52:33.200,0:52:36.559
oh you know what other one is supposed
0:52:36.000,0:52:40.640
to be
0:52:36.559,0:52:43.920
this summer um the fuge
0:52:40.640,0:52:44.839
one the fuse um which one was that
0:52:43.920,0:52:47.920
zolokon
0:52:44.839,0:52:50.640
low i gotta come up with a good one for
0:52:47.920,0:52:51.599
ocean city it doesn’t no it doesn’t work
0:52:50.640,0:52:55.280
yeah i believe
0:52:51.599,0:52:56.559
zolokon is supposed to be like july or
0:52:55.280,0:52:58.559
something well there you go
0:52:56.559,0:53:00.000
so that’s probably your july one so
0:52:58.559,0:53:02.480
we’ll make sure to put that
0:53:00.000,0:53:03.680
one in next week so so we’ll kind of
0:53:02.480,0:53:06.319
keep this up just to
0:53:03.680,0:53:07.200
to remind everybody of what’s coming in
0:53:06.319,0:53:09.440
if we see
0:53:07.200,0:53:10.800
you know anything else that that pops up
0:53:09.440,0:53:13.040
we’ll we’ll obviously
0:53:10.800,0:53:15.119
mention it but he’s gonna do a quick
0:53:13.040,0:53:17.280
google search of zolokon to see
0:53:15.119,0:53:18.800
the technology do we because i’ll just
0:53:17.280,0:53:22.640
keep solo talking
0:53:18.800,0:53:25.760
again 21 is scheduled for july 18.
0:53:22.640,0:53:26.880
see i told you yep there you go
0:53:25.760,0:53:29.040
we got to get that into the notes for
0:53:26.880,0:53:30.880
next yeah so that’s always good
0:53:29.040,0:53:32.240
we love that one that’s a great venue
0:53:30.880,0:53:34.000
well and that’s really
0:53:32.240,0:53:35.599
that which by the way just little
0:53:34.000,0:53:37.760
spoilers that
0:53:35.599,0:53:40.319
venue is going to show up on our new
0:53:37.760,0:53:42.319
insights in the history podcast
0:53:40.319,0:53:44.480
in a special episode too right so that
0:53:42.319,0:53:45.359
happens to be one of those locations
0:53:44.480,0:53:49.200
where
0:53:45.359,0:53:52.559
the venue is as much a part of
0:53:49.200,0:53:55.119
the atmosphere as just
0:53:52.559,0:53:55.680
you know the largest centrifuge in the
0:53:55.119,0:53:57.119
world
0:53:55.680,0:53:58.800
yeah and you get to see it you get to
0:53:57.119,0:53:59.920
walk around it and you’re like free run
0:53:58.800,0:54:02.240
oh my god
0:53:59.920,0:54:02.960
no that would it doesn’t go anywhere you
0:54:02.240,0:54:04.319
can get in it
0:54:02.960,0:54:06.079
well no you can’t yeah they were letting
0:54:04.319,0:54:07.920
people in the last time really
0:54:06.079,0:54:10.240
well they were letting people but people
0:54:07.920,0:54:11.520
were getting into things oh yeah
0:54:10.240,0:54:13.280
yeah people were getting even getting
0:54:11.520,0:54:15.760
pictures yeah well so
0:54:13.280,0:54:16.800
anyway anyway that’s all we had for this
0:54:15.760,0:54:19.280
week
0:54:16.800,0:54:20.079
um i’m not gonna do plugs at the end
0:54:19.280,0:54:23.440
because we’re
0:54:20.079,0:54:26.800
we we’ve inundated people with stuff so
0:54:23.440,0:54:30.480
