[SEGMENT 1: Disney Detective] (8-12 minutes)
- Disney Closing Fox Channel, Moving Shows To Disney+
- https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/disney-closing-fox-channel-moving-shows-to-disney-plus/
- https://bit.ly/3hHoI82
- Disney+ subscribers in the UK are about to get a major influx of content on the streaming service as Deadline reports that the “Fox channel” across the pond is being shuttered after 17 years. The closure of the channel will see all of its programming move to the Disney+ streaming service, marking yet another indicator that The Walt Disney Company has their primary focus set on growing their streaming platforms. This announcement means that all the Fox channel programming will appear under the “Star” vertical on Disney+ in the UK, for Disney+ subscribers in the US there’s little to be excited about here.
- A Disney spokeswoman said in a statement: “On 30th June the FOX channel in the UK will close. Many titles will become available on Star on Disney+ and will be announced in the near future. We appreciate the support of our UK fans and can’t wait to keep sharing the best stories with you. Star on Disney+ serves as the home of movies and television from Disney’s creative studios, including Disney Television Studios (20th Television and ABC Signature), FX Productions and 20th Century Studios.”
- Among the programming that airs on Fox channel that will move to the Star banner on Disney+ in the UK are titles already streaming in the US on the Disney owned Hulu including American Horror Story, The Orville, and Atlanta, and others like The Walking Dead, L.A.’s Finest, and others. Fox channel originals like War of the Worlds already have a home elsewhere in the US to boot.
- The Star brand has been one of the footholds used by Disney to increase their marketshare and gain subscribers in several international markets including the UK, but also Australia, Canada, and much of the rest of Europe, plus Singapore. It debuted in Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea earlier this year.
- Last week came word from The Walt Disney Company that the Disney+ service had hit 103.6 million subscribers worldwide as of April 3rd, meaning that 8.7 million global customers joined the service in the past quarter.
- “Our robust collection of library titles allows us to continually attract new subscribers and retain existing ones,” CEO Bob Chapek said during their most recent earnings call. “At the same time, we are also closely monitoring the recovery of theatrical exhibition as consumers begin to return to theaters.”
- Disney Gave Jungle Cruise Filmmakers Options to Send the Dwayne Johnson Movie to Disney+
- https://comicbook.com/movies/news/disney-jungle-cruise-theaters-disney-plus-premier-access-filmmakers-options-simultaneous-release/
- https://bit.ly/3v9X7Qz
- Disney’s Jungle Cruise will set sail in theaters and on Disney+ on July 30, a decision reportedly reached by the studio and the filmmakers behind the Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt-starring action-adventure. Johnson on Thursday announced Jungle Cruise, based on the iconic Disney theme park attraction, would be the fourth film to debut in theaters and on Disney Premier Access after the animated Raya and the Last Dragon, Emma Stone vehicle Cruella (out May 28), and Marvel Studios’ Scarlett Johansson-led actioner Black Widow (out July 9). The $29.99-priced Premier Access launched in September with the live-action Mulan after Disney canceled that film’s wide theatrical release domestically amid the coronavirus pandemic.
- Disney presented the filmmakers behind Jungle Cruise with release options, according to a report from Deadline. Johnson produces Jungle Cruise through his Seven Bucks Productions alongside producing partners Dany Garcia (Johnson’s Jumanji: The Next Level) and Hiram Garcia (Johnson’s Black Adam), as well as John Davis (Game Night) of Davis Entertainment and Beau Flynn (Johnson’s Skyscraper) of Flynn Picture Company.
- Jungle Cruise’s simultaneous release in theaters and on Disney+ is due to the ongoing closures of such moviegoing markets as Europe and Brazil, according to the report. Disney’s decision to release select films in theaters and on Disney+ Premier for an additional $29.99 fee, allowing subscribers to unlock unlimited access to the film for an exclusive three-month window, is reportedly temporary as the studio behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Endgame is looking to “revive the theatrical business,” according to the report.
- During The Walt Disney Company’s Second Quarter financial results conference call on Thursday, CEO Bob Chapek said of the Disney+ streaming service, “Our robust collection of library titles allows us to continually attract new subscribers and retain existing ones. At the same time, we are also closely monitoring the recovery of theatrical exhibition as consumers begin to return to theaters.”
- Starring Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Édgar Ramírez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti, Disney’s Jungle Cruise releases in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on July 30.
- Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s Jungle Cruise is an adventure-filled, rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton. Lily travels from London, England to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila—his ramshackle-but-charming boat. Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities—possessing the power to change the future of medicine. Thrust on this epic quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest. But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank and their fate—and mankind’s—hangs in the balance

- Brie Larson Reportedly Cast as Luke Skywalker’s Wife
- https://insidethemagic.net/2021/05/brie-larson-star-wars-mara-jade-rwb1/
- https://bit.ly/3u76j6O
- Marvel Cinematic Universe star Brie Larson has made no secret of her love for the Star Wars franchise. The Captain Marvel actress previously confirmed that she auditioned for all three of Disney’s sequel trilogy films, but failed to make the cut.
- Now, it seems that Larson could be getting her wish. A new report indicates that the MCU fan-favorite is in serious talks with Disney and Lucasfilm to play Luke Skywalker’s wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, as the Star Wars universe continues to expand.
- Ever since the iconic Jedi Knight — a CGI version of Mark Hamill during the Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983) era — made a cameo appearance in Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s The Mandalorian Season 2 finale episode, there have been rumors of his Star Wars Legends wife becoming canon.
- It’s also interesting to note that, in Timothy Zahn’s Star Wars Expanded Universe Thrawn trilogy novelization, Mara Jade is connected to Grand Admiral Thrawn. The blue-skinned villain was introduced into The Mandalorian saga when Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) teamed up to defeat Corvus Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto).
- He is expected to play a major role in The Mandalorian Season 3 and its interconnected spinoffs — Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic — so it would certainly not be surprising if Mara Jade showed up in the current canon sooner rather than later.
- Mara Jade has a fascinating checkered past. She went from being an Emperor’s Hand assassin for the Galactic Empire to a Jedi Master in her own right, ultimately sitting on the Jedi Council.
- If Mara Jade doesn’t show up in the third season of The Mandalorian, or one of its spinoff series, there is certainly potential for her to appear in the rumored Luke Skywalker and Grogu series that may feature another Marvel actor, Sebastian Stan, as the legendary Jedi.
- This isn’t the first time Larson’s name has been connected to the popular Star Wars Legends character. Fans have previously called for both Larson and another Marvel actress, Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff) to take on the role of Luke Skywalker’s wife.
- It is important to remember that, at the time of publication, neither Lucasfilm nor The Walt Disney Company have confirmed anything about a Luke Skywalker show or Captain Marvel‘s Brie Larson’s involvement in the Star Wars story moving forward.
- The Avengers franchise actress will next appear as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in The Marvels (2022) and Captain Marvel 2, alongside WandaVision breakout star Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau).
- Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel May “Detour” To Other Planets During “Unexpected Circumstances”

- In an interview with StarWars.com, Walt Disney Imagineer Ann Morrow Johnson divulged details for the upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel. According to Johnson, when the Halcyon sets off next year, its leisurely cruise through the stars may be interrupted with unplanned detours.
- “And just like any other cruise, we have an itinerary. So we have a set list of planets that we will visit. It’s possible that we might take a detour or two if we find ourselves in unexpected circumstances. But you will be able to see those planets, other ships, maybe the occasional asteroid field, out the window as we cruise from place to place.”
- Imagineer Ann Morrow Johnson
- Of course, guests will also be able to take an excursion to Batuu via shuttle during the cruise.

- Knives Out 2 Has Added A Hamilton Star
- https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2567611/knives-out-2-has-added-a-hamilton-star-leslie-odom-jr-rian-johnson?fbclid=IwAR19yavNMzNzpvL8W_DQvbcmOmOfPa0LuFhAx13nDY4ZndsWwFCUkQQNnIY
- https://bit.ly/2SbTWJw
- Rian Johnson has been prepping his Knives Out sequel with gradual reveals of the big stars to follow the original Oscar-nominated whodunnit and it’s shaping up to be another all-star cast. Following recent news of Kathryn Hahn most recently joining the Netflix movie, Knives Out 2 has now lined up its sixth cast member and it’s a huge Hamilton star. Leslie Odom Jr. has been cast in Benoit Blanc’s next case.
- Leslie Odom Jr. is coming off a massive year that had the 39-year-old actor and singer being nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal as Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami. Now he’ll be playing an undisclosed role in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out sequel with Daniel Craig, Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn and Dave Bautista, per The Hollywood Reporter.
- The actor most famously portrayed Aaron Burr in the original cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s groundbreaking musical, which earned him a Tony for Best Actor in a Leading Role amidst the Broadway show’s other accolades. Many of those who missed his role on the stage got to see the actor play Aaron Burr in Disney+’s release of a recording of the Hamilton production. We’re definitely curious what kind of character he’ll play in Rian Johnson’s followup murder mystery coming to Netflix.
- The original Knives Out had a massive cast including Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield and the late Christopher Plummer that introduced Benoit Blanc. The detective with a southern draw solved the murder of the wealthy patriarch of the Thrombey family that took place in a Massachusetts mansion. For the sequel, Johnson had teased that it will include a completely new cast and setting, with Daniel Craig’s character being the only common thread.
- We have yet to hear the premise of the setting of Knives Out, but the film is setting up some major talent thus far from all corners of Hollywood. It is interesting to note that both Janelle Monáe and Leslie Odom Jr. are incredible singers, and it’s not off the table that that could factor into the movie somehow. Yet, each of them have shown skill for their acting chops just as well.
- And funny enough for Odom Jr., back in 2017 the actor had a small role in the Agatha Christie adaptation Murder on the Orient Express, which has often been compared by Knives Out. Kenneth Branagh’s whodunnits follow the famed detective Hercule Poirot, which will continue next year with Death on the Nile. But, the added draw of Knives Out is Rian Johnson is coming up with completely original murder mysteries that have yet to be read in a book.
- Knives Out is confirmed to be continuing with a second and third installment and landing on Netflix. While we wait, check out what movies are coming next on Netflix this year here on CinemaBlend.
- Why Cobra Kai star William Zabka never thought he’d get cast in Karate Kid
- https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/why-cobra-kai-star-william-160732759.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly9sLmZhY2Vib29rLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAALNHe0MLSVjgCFoD0Rz0oxfFw7hiZYZ0TV-DJva1_7FGBMl7GzlvfQRlp3bg_ZgdqwowLmO9HMDiX7o19R8C_hyLM51STFqyhXH6hBJfEvTYPlHxU4W2junmuKrOFbLp_s9B3cKaMTwxecaFh5MixAfg_Dzl44GZw3MFnLVmnyGo
- https://yhoo.it/3ypZr84
- More than 35 years after his big-screen debut as ace degenerate Johnny Lawrence in The Karate Kid, William Zabka is now a legitimate Emmy contender for his performance as adult Johnny on Netflix’s Cobra Kai.
- “The 18-year-old me is kicking himself on a beach somewhere,” Zabka tells EW’s The Awardist podcast. “It’s so unbelievable.”
- The wild success of Cobra Kai — which follows Johnny and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) as they run dueling karate dojos — is even more surprising given that teenage Zabka didn’t think he’d land the role of Johnny in the first place.
- “When I read the Karate Kid script, as I turned the pages, I was like, ‘I’m never getting this part. He’s a black belt; I didn’t know karate. He’s a motorcycle gang leader; I don’t know how to ride a motorcycle. He’s mean — the last thing I did was a milk commercial, maybe an M&Ms commercial. They’re never gonna see me as this gang karate guy.'”
- Fortunately for every Karate Kid and Cobra Kai fan everywhere, Zabka was wrong. To hear more from Zabka — including his favorite moment from Cobra Kai season 3, and which iconic Karate Kid item he still has in his closet — listen to the full conversation below.
- He mentions in the interview that if you had told him 10 years about about reprising the role, he wouldn’t have believed it.

- An extraordinary documentary narrated by Judd Hirsch that takes a fresh look at the sights and sounds of this once-in-a-lifetime event. Produced in 1996, this is one of this dig deep rare treasure finds on Amazon Prime. Using vintage footage from the Fair you’re transported back in time to this historic event where “cutting edge” technology was on display.
- The New York World’s Fair held over 140 pavilions, 110 restaurants, for 80 nations, 24 US states, and over 45 corporations to build exhibits or attractions at Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York City.
- This classic documentary takes you on a nearly 1 hour walk through of some of the offerings of the fair. You get a feel for the spirit of the fair, the architecture and the technology on display.
- The fair’s theme was “Peace Through Understanding”, dedicated to “Man’s Achievement on a Shrinking Globe in an Expanding Universe”. American companies dominated the exposition as exhibitors. Disney being one of the most prominent with several of their exhibitions retiring to the Disney theme parks such as “It’s a small world” and the “Carousel of Progress”.
- While the documentary mutes the overriding cultural significance of the cold war going on at the time, you can’t help but feel the energy and excitement of the Space Race that was a direct result of that quasi-conflict throughout the film.
- It was one of the last great exhibitions of American innocence and innovation before the darker more turbulent times just a few years ahead with the Vietnam War and Watergate scandals when America seemed to lose its innocence.

0:03:42.360,0:03:45.440
http://www.insightsintothings.com to get links
0:03:43.920,0:03:48.720
to everything
0:03:45.440,0:03:49.519
are we ready to go i don’t know i think
0:03:48.720,0:03:52.720
we’re good to go
0:03:49.519,0:03:52.720
okay here we go
0:03:58.000,0:04:02.640
go for disney detective so it seems that
0:04:00.879,0:04:05.519
disney plus subscribers
0:04:02.640,0:04:07.120
in the uk are about to get a major
0:04:05.519,0:04:09.360
influx of content
0:04:07.120,0:04:10.159
on the streaming service as deadline
0:04:09.360,0:04:13.519
reports
0:04:10.159,0:04:14.720
that the fox channel across the pond is
0:04:13.519,0:04:17.759
being shuttered
0:04:14.720,0:04:18.799
after 17 years the closure of the
0:04:17.759,0:04:20.799
channel will see
0:04:18.799,0:04:22.720
all of its programming move to disney
0:04:20.799,0:04:24.880
plus streaming service
0:04:22.720,0:04:27.360
marking yet another indicator that the
0:04:24.880,0:04:30.000
walt disney company has their main
0:04:27.360,0:04:32.320
primary uh their primary focus set on
0:04:30.000,0:04:35.120
growing their streaming platforms
0:04:32.320,0:04:36.960
this announcement means that all of the
0:04:35.120,0:04:40.000
fox channel programming
0:04:36.960,0:04:43.199
will appear under the star vertical
0:04:40.000,0:04:46.080
on disney plus in the uk
0:04:43.199,0:04:47.040
in the u.s basically it means nothing
0:04:46.080,0:04:50.560
for us
0:04:47.040,0:04:54.639
no change that’s kind of disappointing
0:04:50.560,0:04:59.440
well the thing is that in the us most of
0:04:54.639,0:05:02.720
fox’s stuff is under hulu and hulu
0:04:59.440,0:05:05.440
and disney they’re already together so
0:05:02.720,0:05:06.160
for the uk it’s big news because they
0:05:05.440,0:05:08.400
hadn’t
0:05:06.160,0:05:10.479
started switching anything over for them
0:05:08.400,0:05:13.520
yet so it’s big news for
0:05:10.479,0:05:16.400
for them uh so a disney spokeswoman uh
0:05:13.520,0:05:18.960
had made a statement that on june 30th
0:05:16.400,0:05:21.039
the fox channel in the uk will close
0:05:18.960,0:05:23.039
many titles will become available on
0:05:21.039,0:05:26.240
star on disney plus
0:05:23.039,0:05:29.199
and we will announce in the near future
0:05:26.240,0:05:30.160
uh appreciate everybody’s support blah
0:05:29.199,0:05:31.759
blah blah blah
0:05:30.160,0:05:33.440
hey there’s going to be lots of new
0:05:31.759,0:05:34.560
stuff did they actually write blah blah
0:05:33.440,0:05:36.880
blah yeah they did
0:05:34.560,0:05:38.479
yeah they need some better creative
0:05:36.880,0:05:41.120
writers coding them
0:05:38.479,0:05:42.080
so yeah for us again it doesn’t mean
0:05:41.120,0:05:44.960
anything but for
0:05:42.080,0:05:45.759
people in the uk and that was what what
0:05:44.960,0:05:48.479
kind of
0:05:45.759,0:05:50.639
um they they were really the ones that
0:05:48.479,0:05:52.960
were kind of being screwed over because
0:05:50.639,0:05:55.039
when all of the new content was coming
0:05:52.960,0:05:57.039
to disney plus in the us
0:05:55.039,0:05:59.440
it wasn’t available in the uk for a
0:05:57.039,0:06:01.120
while so like when mandalorian launched
0:05:59.440,0:06:03.680
and other things
0:06:01.120,0:06:04.560
they had to wait months before it came
0:06:03.680,0:06:06.960
so now
0:06:04.560,0:06:08.400
at least they’re starting to to catch up
0:06:06.960,0:06:11.360
so they’re gonna be able
0:06:08.400,0:06:12.000
um to get things like american horror
0:06:11.360,0:06:16.240
story
0:06:12.000,0:06:17.360
the orville atlanta walking dead ellie’s
0:06:16.240,0:06:19.199
finest so a lot of
0:06:17.360,0:06:21.120
fox how many of those have been canceled
0:06:19.199,0:06:23.039
now yeah well
0:06:21.120,0:06:25.039
but they’ll be able to you know catch up
0:06:23.039,0:06:26.960
on it um the other thing that came out
0:06:25.039,0:06:28.000
was last week word came from the walt
0:06:26.960,0:06:32.639
disney company that
0:06:28.000,0:06:35.919
disney plus service has now hit 103.6
0:06:32.639,0:06:40.080
million subscribers worldwide as of june
0:06:35.919,0:06:42.960
3rd million million million
0:06:40.080,0:06:45.199
meaning that 8.7 million global
0:06:42.960,0:06:45.680
customers joined the service just in the
0:06:45.199,0:06:48.960
past
0:06:45.680,0:06:51.599
quarter wow so that’s impressive
0:06:48.960,0:06:53.440
yeah it’s also worth noting that if you
0:06:51.599,0:06:56.560
look at the demographics for
0:06:53.440,0:06:59.919
this podcast our number two
0:06:56.560,0:07:00.960
uh viewer slash listener audience is
0:06:59.919,0:07:04.479
actually the uk
0:07:00.960,0:07:06.800
see so i this is news for them
0:07:04.479,0:07:08.319
all of our friends in the uk listening
0:07:06.800,0:07:10.319
watching all those shows with english
0:07:08.319,0:07:12.639
accents pays off
0:07:10.319,0:07:17.840
yeah so mine happens to my insightful
0:07:12.639,0:07:17.840
pick is another yeah i know yeah i know
0:07:20.800,0:07:27.120
so what else we got so in more
0:07:24.319,0:07:27.520
disney plus news it seems that disney
0:07:27.120,0:07:30.720
gave
0:07:27.520,0:07:31.919
jungle cruise filmmakers the option to
0:07:30.720,0:07:35.360
send
0:07:31.919,0:07:37.599
the dwayne johnson movie to disney plus
0:07:35.360,0:07:38.479
so disney’s jungle cruise will set sail
0:07:37.599,0:07:41.680
in theaters
0:07:38.479,0:07:43.759
and on disney plus on july 30th
0:07:41.680,0:07:46.000
a decision that was reached by the
0:07:43.759,0:07:46.960
studio and the filmmakers behind the
0:07:46.000,0:07:49.759
movie
0:07:46.960,0:07:50.800
uh johnson on thursday had announced
0:07:49.759,0:07:53.039
jungle cruise
0:07:50.800,0:07:54.000
based on the iconic disney theme park
0:07:53.039,0:07:56.400
attraction
0:07:54.000,0:07:57.039
would be the fourth film to debut in
0:07:56.400,0:08:00.080
theaters
0:07:57.039,0:08:03.440
and on disney’s premiere access
0:08:00.080,0:08:04.319
after the animated raya and the last
0:08:03.440,0:08:07.120
dragon
0:08:04.319,0:08:09.599
then you have emma stone’s cruella which
0:08:07.120,0:08:12.960
is coming out next week
0:08:09.599,0:08:14.240
then scarlett johansson’s uh black widow
0:08:12.960,0:08:17.840
will be coming out
0:08:14.240,0:08:19.520
july all through the premium plus
0:08:17.840,0:08:23.039
now again if you’re not sure what that
0:08:19.520,0:08:26.080
is it’s uh 29.99 priced premier
0:08:23.039,0:08:29.039
access which they had actually lost
0:08:26.080,0:08:30.000
last september with the live-action
0:08:29.039,0:08:32.399
mulan
0:08:30.000,0:08:33.760
after disney had cancelled the film’s
0:08:32.399,0:08:38.000
wide theatrical
0:08:33.760,0:08:38.640
release so basically for 29.99 you get
0:08:38.000,0:08:42.080
to
0:08:38.640,0:08:44.480
own the movie for as long as you have
0:08:42.080,0:08:48.800
disney plus now the other thing too is
0:08:44.480,0:08:51.120
when mulan came out in september
0:08:48.800,0:08:54.399
it was only two months that you had to
0:08:51.120,0:08:56.880
pay for it if you waited until
0:08:54.399,0:08:58.000
december you were able to get it as part
0:08:56.880,0:09:00.399
of your disney plus
0:08:58.000,0:09:01.440
package so i’m guessing it’s probably
0:09:00.399,0:09:04.000
the same thing
0:09:01.440,0:09:05.200
i don’t know if there’s a set time for
0:09:04.000,0:09:08.399
any of the premier
0:09:05.200,0:09:11.200
access movies if it’s like a two-month
0:09:08.399,0:09:12.399
uh period or not but you figure if
0:09:11.200,0:09:15.120
you’re a family of four
0:09:12.399,0:09:15.920
heck if you’re a family of three paying
0:09:15.120,0:09:18.399
30
0:09:15.920,0:09:19.760
to own the movie is cheaper than
0:09:18.399,0:09:22.720
actually going to
0:09:19.760,0:09:24.560
the movie theater and in some cases your
0:09:22.720,0:09:27.200
local movie theater might not
0:09:24.560,0:09:28.080
yet still be opened at this point so if
0:09:27.200,0:09:30.640
you want to see
0:09:28.080,0:09:31.839
basically a first run movie in the
0:09:30.640,0:09:34.880
comfort of your home
0:09:31.839,0:09:37.279
thirty dollars you know isn’t too bad um
0:09:34.880,0:09:39.120
so disney presented the filmmakers
0:09:37.279,0:09:41.040
behind the jungle cruise
0:09:39.120,0:09:42.240
with the release option and according to
0:09:41.040,0:09:45.519
a report
0:09:42.240,0:09:46.160
they decided to go with the split
0:09:45.519,0:09:49.600
release
0:09:46.160,0:09:50.000
of doing it for disney plus as well as
0:09:49.600,0:09:52.399
doing
0:09:50.000,0:09:53.839
it in the theater so it’ll be
0:09:52.399,0:09:56.320
interesting to
0:09:53.839,0:09:58.480
to see you know how it does now that
0:09:56.320,0:10:01.760
things are again starting to open back
0:09:58.480,0:10:03.920
up are people gonna choose to go
0:10:01.760,0:10:05.440
to the theater to to watch it or are
0:10:03.920,0:10:07.600
people still going to
0:10:05.440,0:10:08.880
you know to decide to to stay at home
0:10:07.600,0:10:10.800
and and watch it so
0:10:08.880,0:10:13.279
this is one area that i’m i’m very
0:10:10.800,0:10:16.560
curious to see what happens when things
0:10:13.279,0:10:18.800
kind of go back to normal is where the
0:10:16.560,0:10:20.720
movie theaters fit into this
0:10:18.800,0:10:22.240
and now that you’ve got these first run
0:10:20.720,0:10:24.480
movies at home
0:10:22.240,0:10:26.560
and the business model has proven out
0:10:24.480,0:10:28.959
that you can make money off of it
0:10:26.560,0:10:31.200
right are we going to have a certain
0:10:28.959,0:10:32.240
class of movies that now continue under
0:10:31.200,0:10:33.839
that release right
0:10:32.240,0:10:36.399
right is it going to be open to
0:10:33.839,0:10:38.240
everybody are the award shows now going
0:10:36.399,0:10:40.000
to start allowing that type of thing
0:10:38.240,0:10:43.120
because they did make an allowance
0:10:40.000,0:10:44.399
for just the one year right so because
0:10:43.120,0:10:46.880
nothing was open
0:10:44.399,0:10:48.480
right so they couldn’t do it so again
0:10:46.880,0:10:51.120
does it become
0:10:48.480,0:10:52.720
where you have to at least show it in so
0:10:51.120,0:10:55.120
many theaters to be
0:10:52.720,0:10:56.720
considered but yet the rest of it
0:10:55.120,0:10:57.760
because again you know we we talked
0:10:56.720,0:11:01.760
about this
0:10:57.760,0:11:03.519
multiple times before is that you have
0:11:01.760,0:11:05.279
we’re lucky enough we don’t live in a
0:11:03.519,0:11:08.800
rural area we’re
0:11:05.279,0:11:11.760
in a suburb of you know
0:11:08.800,0:11:13.760
of philadelphia in you know new jersey
0:11:11.760,0:11:17.920
and within
0:11:13.760,0:11:21.040
you know 15 minutes we’re near at least
0:11:17.920,0:11:24.640
two movie theaters easily yeah easily
0:11:21.040,0:11:27.200
within 25 minutes another two or three
0:11:24.640,0:11:29.120
right theaters so we’re we’re very
0:11:27.200,0:11:29.760
fortunate we don’t have to travel very
0:11:29.120,0:11:32.800
far to
0:11:29.760,0:11:33.760
to get to it um i know people who grew
0:11:32.800,0:11:36.880
up in
0:11:33.760,0:11:38.160
the middle of nowhere new york you know
0:11:36.880,0:11:40.720
upstate new york
0:11:38.160,0:11:42.399
and everything was an hour away you know
0:11:40.720,0:11:44.000
you wanted to go to the mall it was an
0:11:42.399,0:11:46.240
hour away you wanted to go to the movie
0:11:44.000,0:11:49.680
theater it was an hour away
0:11:46.240,0:11:50.639
so for somebody that lives in those
0:11:49.680,0:11:54.079
areas
0:11:50.639,0:11:55.279
heck i’ll pay a premium you know even if
0:11:54.079,0:11:55.600
it’s something where it’s going to cost
0:11:55.279,0:11:58.079
me
0:11:55.600,0:11:58.880
more and you make the economic point
0:11:58.079,0:12:01.360
that it’s
0:11:58.880,0:12:03.600
cheaper for us to pay 30 bucks to have
0:12:01.360,0:12:05.839
the whole family watch the movie
0:12:03.600,0:12:08.000
than to truck the whole family out to a
0:12:05.839,0:12:11.279
movie theater that may or may not
0:12:08.000,0:12:12.160
you know be sanitary right you’re you
0:12:11.279,0:12:15.519
know you’re paying
0:12:12.160,0:12:17.440
as much if not more on snacks
0:12:15.519,0:12:19.839
than you are on tickets absolutely
0:12:17.440,0:12:21.680
you’re doubling what your cost is right
0:12:19.839,0:12:23.200
and for a family of three or four you’re
0:12:21.680,0:12:24.480
looking at over 100 bucks to go to the
0:12:23.200,0:12:27.519
movies
0:12:24.480,0:12:28.560
well for the jungle cruise i don’t need
0:12:27.519,0:12:31.200
to see it in the theater
0:12:28.560,0:12:33.279
right if it’s star wars not of ryan
0:12:31.200,0:12:35.200
johnson star wars
0:12:33.279,0:12:37.680
i need to see it’s not the star wars i
0:12:35.200,0:12:38.560
need i need to see it in a theater but
0:12:37.680,0:12:40.880
we do have a
0:12:38.560,0:12:41.760
pretty good sound system in a pretty big
0:12:40.880,0:12:44.320
tv
0:12:41.760,0:12:45.920
so it’s not you know it’s not like we’re
0:12:44.320,0:12:49.040
sitting there watching it on our phone
0:12:45.920,0:12:50.839
true so but there are some movies that
0:12:49.040,0:12:52.639
need to be seen in the theater
0:12:50.839,0:12:53.920
absolutely still go to see those in the
0:12:52.639,0:12:56.399
theater absolutely
0:12:53.920,0:12:59.360
but movies like jungle cruise or what
0:12:56.399,0:13:02.639
was the one we had just watched recently
0:12:59.360,0:13:03.279
um what was the one that we did a wonder
0:13:02.639,0:13:05.839
woman
0:13:03.279,0:13:06.480
right wonder woman well i didn’t want to
0:13:05.839,0:13:08.480
watch
0:13:06.480,0:13:09.519
after watching it i wanted to time back
0:13:08.480,0:13:11.279
from watching it in my
0:13:09.519,0:13:12.880
in my living room right right i would
0:13:11.279,0:13:14.000
have really been upset if i had paid to
0:13:12.880,0:13:16.480
go see it in the movie theater
0:13:14.000,0:13:18.079
right um but yeah movies like that i
0:13:16.480,0:13:20.399
don’t need to see in a theater
0:13:18.079,0:13:21.440
right i agree there are certain movies
0:13:20.399,0:13:23.839
that
0:13:21.440,0:13:26.480
seeing it in a movie theater enhances
0:13:23.839,0:13:29.200
the experience but for the most part
0:13:26.480,0:13:30.800
being able to see it at home plus the
0:13:29.200,0:13:33.120
fact that we can pause it
0:13:30.800,0:13:35.360
and that’s what we did with wonder woman
0:13:33.120,0:13:36.320
because we just needed to take a break
0:13:35.360,0:13:39.440
i’ll tell you
0:13:36.320,0:13:41.760
when we went to see endgame yes
0:13:39.440,0:13:43.680
i wish we had a pause button yeah
0:13:41.760,0:13:45.360
everybody because it was so long
0:13:43.680,0:13:46.880
and i had to pee like three times in the
0:13:45.360,0:13:48.399
movie right so
0:13:46.880,0:13:50.320
it was nice to be able to watch it in
0:13:48.399,0:13:51.519
the comfort of my home and pause it when
0:13:50.320,0:13:53.839
i got home to watch it
0:13:51.519,0:13:56.480
right right but that was also you know
0:13:53.839,0:13:58.959
after the fact after you had already
0:13:56.480,0:14:00.079
seen it and so yeah like you know jungle
0:13:58.959,0:14:04.639
cruise or
0:14:00.079,0:14:06.480
or um uh black widow
0:14:04.639,0:14:07.920
you know what maybe we’ll spend the
0:14:06.480,0:14:09.920
thirty dollars
0:14:07.920,0:14:11.839
and and do that to be able to watch it
0:14:09.920,0:14:12.480
and we’ll do a movie night everybody
0:14:11.839,0:14:14.959
gets there
0:14:12.480,0:14:15.600
and the fact that you can you own it as
0:14:14.959,0:14:19.040
long as you’re
0:14:15.600,0:14:20.079
a member of disney plus right nice but
0:14:19.040,0:14:22.160
how many times we’re going to go back
0:14:20.079,0:14:24.079
and watch jungle cruise i don’t know how
0:14:22.160,0:14:26.240
many times have you watched end game
0:14:24.079,0:14:28.399
oh and you were watching it when it was
0:14:26.240,0:14:31.279
on cruises
0:14:28.399,0:14:32.320
okay you don’t maybe maddie will like it
0:14:31.279,0:14:35.680
i don’t know
0:14:32.320,0:14:35.920
maybe no no we won’t know until we watch
0:14:35.680,0:14:38.560
it
0:14:35.920,0:14:39.920
that’s true so so that was all we have
0:14:38.560,0:14:42.800
for our disney
0:14:39.920,0:14:46.480
detective yes we will be right back with
0:14:42.800,0:14:46.480

0:16:08.399,0:16:15.440
you know i like to keep you on your toes
0:16:11.440,0:16:18.800
right so it seems the mcu
0:16:15.440,0:16:21.279
star brie larson has made no secret of
0:16:18.800,0:16:23.279
her love for the star wars franchise
0:16:21.279,0:16:25.360
it seems that the captain marvel actress
0:16:23.279,0:16:26.320
has previously confirmed that she has
0:16:25.360,0:16:29.120
auditioned for
0:16:26.320,0:16:29.920
all three of disney’s sequel trilogy
0:16:29.120,0:16:32.720
films
0:16:29.920,0:16:33.680
but unfortunately failed to make the cut
0:16:32.720,0:16:36.160
so
0:16:33.680,0:16:37.040
now it seems she might be getting her
0:16:36.160,0:16:40.720
wish
0:16:37.040,0:16:44.240
so again rumored report is that
0:16:40.720,0:16:46.880
um a new report comes out that the mcu
0:16:44.240,0:16:49.040
fan favorite is in serious talks with
0:16:46.880,0:16:52.079
disney and lucasfilms
0:16:49.040,0:16:54.880
to play luke skywalker’s wife mara jade
0:16:52.079,0:16:56.880
skywalker as the star wars universe
0:16:54.880,0:17:00.000
continues to expand
0:16:56.880,0:17:04.000
so ever since the iconic jedi knight a
0:17:00.000,0:17:07.199
cgi version of mark hamill uh showed up
0:17:04.000,0:17:09.600
uh from the 1983
0:17:07.199,0:17:11.039
era of return of the jedi he made his
0:17:09.600,0:17:14.160
cameo appearance
0:17:11.039,0:17:16.959
in the mandalorian uh season two finale
0:17:14.160,0:17:18.000
there have been rumors about the star
0:17:16.959,0:17:21.280
wars legends
0:17:18.000,0:17:23.120
wife now becoming canon so it’s also
0:17:21.280,0:17:24.000
interesting to note that in timothy
0:17:23.120,0:17:26.720
zahn’s
0:17:24.000,0:17:27.600
star wars expanded universe thrawn
0:17:26.720,0:17:30.400
trilogy
0:17:27.600,0:17:32.160
novelization mara jade is connected to
0:17:30.400,0:17:35.440
grand admiral
0:17:32.160,0:17:37.440
grand admiral thrawn um who happens to
0:17:35.440,0:17:40.960
be the blue skinned villain who was
0:17:37.440,0:17:44.160
introduced into the mandalorian saga
0:17:40.960,0:17:47.760
when ahsoka um
0:17:44.160,0:17:52.000
had teamed up with um the mandalorian
0:17:47.760,0:17:55.120
and they defeated um the magistrate
0:17:52.000,0:17:56.320
character uh in in season two and they
0:17:55.120,0:17:59.120
mentioned him
0:17:56.320,0:18:00.080
so we kind of got that feeling that he
0:17:59.120,0:18:03.039
was going to be showing
0:18:00.080,0:18:04.960
up in episode in season three so of
0:18:03.039,0:18:08.080
course he is expected to play
0:18:04.960,0:18:10.799
some sort of major role um and maybe
0:18:08.080,0:18:11.679
even interconnected with the spin-offs
0:18:10.799,0:18:13.840
of
0:18:11.679,0:18:15.039
ahsoka and the rangers of the new
0:18:13.840,0:18:18.559
republic so
0:18:15.039,0:18:22.160
it would certainly not be surprising if
0:18:18.559,0:18:25.280
mara jade shows up mara jade shows up
0:18:22.160,0:18:26.080
in the current canon sooner rather than
0:18:25.280,0:18:29.440
later
0:18:26.080,0:18:32.000
um obviously she has a fascinating
0:18:29.440,0:18:34.480
checkered past she went from being
0:18:32.000,0:18:37.120
an emperor’s hand assassin for the
0:18:34.480,0:18:37.919
galactic empire to a jedi knight in her
0:18:37.120,0:18:41.039
own right
0:18:37.919,0:18:43.440
and then sitting on the jedi council
0:18:41.039,0:18:44.799
so if she doesn’t show up in the third
0:18:43.440,0:18:46.720
season of the mandalorian
0:18:44.799,0:18:49.120
or one of its spin-offs there’s
0:18:46.720,0:18:52.240
certainly potential for her to appear
0:18:49.120,0:18:52.960
in the rumored luke skywalker and grogu
0:18:52.240,0:18:55.919
series
0:18:52.960,0:18:57.600
that may feature another marvel actor
0:18:55.919,0:19:00.400
sebastian san
0:18:57.600,0:19:02.080
as the legendary jedi so that’s been a
0:19:00.400,0:19:03.679
rumor going around too
0:19:02.080,0:19:05.360
that he was going to be playing luke
0:19:03.679,0:19:08.240
skywalker in
0:19:05.360,0:19:09.280
something coming up so that you keep
0:19:08.240,0:19:11.000
hearing
0:19:09.280,0:19:13.200
oh he’s got the metal hand for it so
0:19:11.000,0:19:16.559
[Music]
0:19:13.200,0:19:18.720
right sure
0:19:16.559,0:19:20.160
so this isn’t the first time that her
0:19:18.720,0:19:22.720
name’s been connected with
0:19:20.160,0:19:24.000
uh the star wars legends character it
0:19:22.720,0:19:27.440
seems that
0:19:24.000,0:19:30.559
fans actually had wanted both her or
0:19:27.440,0:19:32.160
elizabeth olsen to take the role of luke
0:19:30.559,0:19:34.559
skywalker’s wife
0:19:32.160,0:19:35.919
um so it is important to know again this
0:19:34.559,0:19:38.559
is all rumors
0:19:35.919,0:19:39.360
that at the time that this story came
0:19:38.559,0:19:42.480
out
0:19:39.360,0:19:45.280
nobody’s confirmed whether or not uh
0:19:42.480,0:19:45.760
she’s been part of it but if it does
0:19:45.280,0:19:48.240
happen
0:19:45.760,0:19:49.919
that would be kind of cool so you know
0:19:48.240,0:19:51.679
when i read this story when i saw the
0:19:49.919,0:19:54.240
story was in the show notes
0:19:51.679,0:19:56.640
i actually got goosebumps and i had to
0:19:54.240,0:19:59.520
go and read the story because
0:19:56.640,0:20:00.480
i’ve been waiting for them to bring her
0:19:59.520,0:20:02.799
to
0:20:00.480,0:20:04.320
the new star wars universe for a very
0:20:02.799,0:20:07.200
long time
0:20:04.320,0:20:08.880
and now is the perfect time you’ve got
0:20:07.200,0:20:10.960
all the right elements in place
0:20:08.880,0:20:12.960
yep you’ve got thrawn who they’ve
0:20:10.960,0:20:14.799
developed not only through
0:20:12.960,0:20:16.799
uh rebels and the novels but now
0:20:14.799,0:20:18.080
thrawn’s making allegedly making an
0:20:16.799,0:20:21.039
appearance
0:20:18.080,0:20:21.600
in the mandalorian it’s the right time
0:20:21.039,0:20:25.200
frame
0:20:21.600,0:20:27.600
yeah right after the empire um
0:20:25.200,0:20:29.280
has fallen you know empire is still kind
0:20:27.600,0:20:30.720
of fresh there’s that remnant that’s
0:20:29.280,0:20:33.200
still out there
0:20:30.720,0:20:34.400
you’ve got luke who’s now made his
0:20:33.200,0:20:36.080
appearance
0:20:34.400,0:20:37.919
which i’m not sure how you’re going to
0:20:36.080,0:20:39.600
do a spin-off with sebastian stan as
0:20:37.919,0:20:42.400
luke and not superimpose
0:20:39.600,0:20:43.360
luke’s face right on top of him that’s
0:20:42.400,0:20:46.240
going to be kind of weird
0:20:43.360,0:20:48.240
yeah because you already had him yeah
0:20:46.240,0:20:51.039
show up in something so how do you not
0:20:48.240,0:20:53.679
continue to to do that yeah that’s gonna
0:20:51.039,0:20:55.760
be a little bit i don’t know if
0:20:53.679,0:20:57.440
i can’t see them taking a main character
0:20:55.760,0:20:58.000
like that and turning it into a spin-off
0:20:57.440,0:21:01.679
series
0:20:58.000,0:21:03.360
yeah i could see cameos right um
0:21:01.679,0:21:04.960
and i could certainly see mara jade
0:21:03.360,0:21:06.640
appearing in here
0:21:04.960,0:21:09.840
so that she might be able to springboard
0:21:06.640,0:21:12.240
off onto something another project
0:21:09.840,0:21:13.760
um but you’re not going to see the the
0:21:12.240,0:21:16.480
thing that kind of saddens me is you’re
0:21:13.760,0:21:19.120
not going to see that storyline develop
0:21:16.480,0:21:20.320
between luke and mara jade because
0:21:19.120,0:21:22.640
obviously
0:21:20.320,0:21:23.760
we’re pretty far along in the storyline
0:21:22.640,0:21:25.679
at this point in time
0:21:23.760,0:21:27.840
i don’t know if there’s enough run room
0:21:25.679,0:21:30.080
now for
0:21:27.840,0:21:31.120
him to do some of the things that he did
0:21:30.080,0:21:33.840
to encounter her
0:21:31.120,0:21:35.280
at the emperor’s hand you know since the
0:21:33.840,0:21:37.760
emperor is dead now
0:21:35.280,0:21:39.280
right so that kind of complicates that
0:21:37.760,0:21:42.880
side of things
0:21:39.280,0:21:44.400
um but yeah it would work
0:21:42.880,0:21:46.400
it would work you know and and
0:21:44.400,0:21:48.400
technically her appearance in the throne
0:21:46.400,0:21:50.000
trilogy was all after the empire emperor
0:21:48.400,0:21:52.799
was dead too so
0:21:50.000,0:21:54.640
you could make it work um i would love
0:21:52.799,0:21:56.400
to see it i think it was a great story
0:21:54.640,0:21:59.600
line i think if they
0:21:56.400,0:22:02.640
borrow elements from the
0:21:59.600,0:22:03.760
novels the the thrawn the timothy’s on
0:22:02.640,0:22:05.600
novels i think
0:22:03.760,0:22:07.200
they’ve got a winning recipe no matter
0:22:05.600,0:22:09.679
what you do with it
0:22:07.200,0:22:10.960
um you know timothy zahn could rate the
0:22:09.679,0:22:13.280
dictionary and it would
0:22:10.960,0:22:16.559
turn out awesome in the end right that’s
0:22:13.280,0:22:18.880
just how good of a writer he is
0:22:16.559,0:22:20.880
but anyway yeah we’ll see what happens
0:22:18.880,0:22:22.720
okay so what else do we have
0:22:20.880,0:22:24.640
for our tales from the edge of the
0:22:22.720,0:22:27.440
galaxy so it seems that the
0:22:24.640,0:22:28.240
star wars galactic star cruiser hotel
0:22:27.440,0:22:31.360
may
0:22:28.240,0:22:34.640
detour to other planets during
0:22:31.360,0:22:37.520
unexpected circumstances so in an
0:22:34.640,0:22:39.600
interview with starwars.com a walt
0:22:37.520,0:22:42.320
disney imagineer and mauro
0:22:39.600,0:22:44.880
johnson divulged some details for the
0:22:42.320,0:22:45.440
upcoming star wars galactic star cruiser
0:22:44.880,0:22:48.240
hotel
0:22:45.440,0:22:48.640
say that five times fast so five times
0:22:48.240,0:22:51.200
fast
0:22:48.640,0:22:53.840
thank you so according to johnson when
0:22:51.200,0:22:56.400
the halcyon sets off next year its
0:22:53.840,0:22:57.600
leisure cruise through the stars may be
0:22:56.400,0:23:00.960
interrupted with
0:22:57.600,0:23:03.440
unplanned detours she said and just like
0:23:00.960,0:23:05.520
any other cruise we have an itinerary so
0:23:03.440,0:23:06.240
we have a set list of planets that will
0:23:05.520,0:23:08.320
visit
0:23:06.240,0:23:09.840
it’s impossible it’s possible that we
0:23:08.320,0:23:12.159
might take a detour
0:23:09.840,0:23:14.400
or two if we find ourselves in
0:23:12.159,0:23:16.159
unexpected circumstances
0:23:14.400,0:23:18.240
but you will be able to see those
0:23:16.159,0:23:19.360
planets other ships and maybe the
0:23:18.240,0:23:21.919
occasional
0:23:19.360,0:23:23.919
asteroid field out the window as we
0:23:21.919,0:23:26.240
cruise from place to place
0:23:23.919,0:23:27.840
um of course guests will also be able to
0:23:26.240,0:23:31.200
take an excursion to
0:23:27.840,0:23:33.600
batu uh via uh shuttle
0:23:31.200,0:23:35.039
during the cruise so it sounds like
0:23:33.600,0:23:38.640
there are gonna be some
0:23:35.039,0:23:41.520
unexpected things happening
0:23:38.640,0:23:42.799
with your two-day two-night stay uh
0:23:41.520,0:23:44.080
aboard so
0:23:42.799,0:23:46.480
well you know it’s funny because that
0:23:44.080,0:23:49.200
kind of sticks with the theme of
0:23:46.480,0:23:50.000
other star wars things in the parks sort
0:23:49.200,0:23:53.120
of like star
0:23:50.000,0:23:53.840
tours right you know star tours you go
0:23:53.120,0:23:56.720
on
0:23:53.840,0:23:57.520
an unexpected trip to multiple locations
0:23:56.720,0:24:01.600
right
0:23:57.520,0:24:04.159
um when you’re on uh
0:24:01.600,0:24:05.919
when you go through uh what’s the what’s
0:24:04.159,0:24:07.440
the new ride
0:24:05.919,0:24:08.960
not the millennium falcom what’s the
0:24:07.440,0:24:09.840
other one rise of the resort the
0:24:08.960,0:24:11.440
resistance
0:24:09.840,0:24:13.039
so you go and rise the resistance you
0:24:11.440,0:24:16.240
have an unexpected twist
0:24:13.039,0:24:16.880
right right it’s a very disney star wars
0:24:16.240,0:24:19.679
thing so
0:24:16.880,0:24:20.799
it’s a it’s a very thematic type of
0:24:19.679,0:24:23.919
thing and
0:24:20.799,0:24:27.279
what i hope is i hope it’s not a forced
0:24:23.919,0:24:30.400
thing where you have a script
0:24:27.279,0:24:32.240
and okay day one at 10 o’clock we’re
0:24:30.400,0:24:34.159
doing this and you know at four o’clock
0:24:32.240,0:24:36.640
we’re doing i hope they
0:24:34.159,0:24:38.799
change it up so it feels more organic
0:24:36.640,0:24:40.400
right and i also hope that they
0:24:38.799,0:24:42.240
they do something like that too where
0:24:40.400,0:24:42.960
they kind of change it up so that this
0:24:42.240,0:24:45.360
way
0:24:42.960,0:24:47.360
if you go and tell a friend about it you
0:24:45.360,0:24:49.919
don’t have the exact same experience
0:24:47.360,0:24:52.080
kind of like what they do on star tours
0:24:49.919,0:24:55.679
right on star tours
0:24:52.080,0:24:58.080
it’s a generated a random generated
0:24:55.679,0:24:59.679
thing so you don’t always get the same
0:24:58.080,0:25:02.080
two or three planets
0:24:59.679,0:25:03.520
right so you can go on star tours
0:25:02.080,0:25:05.520
multiple times and have a different
0:25:03.520,0:25:06.240
experience every time right so i’m
0:25:05.520,0:25:08.640
hoping
0:25:06.240,0:25:09.440
that they kind of do that or depending
0:25:08.640,0:25:12.080
on where you
0:25:09.440,0:25:14.159
are on the ship at a certain time you
0:25:12.080,0:25:16.720
run across something
0:25:14.159,0:25:18.320
one of the things that i saw in a
0:25:16.720,0:25:20.240
different article
0:25:18.320,0:25:21.440
was actually talking about cast members
0:25:20.240,0:25:25.039
that they were hiring
0:25:21.440,0:25:28.080
they were looking for stunt actors
0:25:25.039,0:25:29.600
they were looking for musicians um so
0:25:28.080,0:25:32.080
obviously there’s going to be
0:25:29.600,0:25:32.880
that same song there’s going to be you
0:25:32.080,0:25:35.279
know
0:25:32.880,0:25:36.799
obviously some sort of bar or some
0:25:35.279,0:25:39.039
lounge area where there’s going to be
0:25:36.799,0:25:40.559
music going on star wars you have to
0:25:39.039,0:25:42.159
have the aliens at the bar
0:25:40.559,0:25:43.919
right so i’m sure there’s going to be
0:25:42.159,0:25:44.880
the aliens at the bar i’m sure there’s
0:25:43.919,0:25:47.919
going to be these
0:25:44.880,0:25:50.720
other actors so that if you know
0:25:47.919,0:25:52.400
maybe the ship gets taken over by
0:25:50.720,0:25:54.960
something and that was
0:25:52.400,0:25:56.880
somebody else uh i don’t know if
0:25:54.960,0:26:00.080
somebody had made a comment or said
0:25:56.880,0:26:00.799
like maybe kylo ren shows up and boards
0:26:00.080,0:26:03.120
your ship
0:26:00.799,0:26:05.520
and there’s a whole i’m making vader i’m
0:26:03.120,0:26:08.000
so sick and tired of the new stuff
0:26:05.520,0:26:10.320
you don’t maybe that’s and maybe that’s
0:26:08.000,0:26:13.120
what they do depending on
0:26:10.320,0:26:13.600
you know what time frame or whatever my
0:26:13.120,0:26:15.360
story
0:26:13.600,0:26:16.720
let me fill out a survey to pick what
0:26:15.360,0:26:18.000
star wars i want
0:26:16.720,0:26:20.000
right i wonder if you can do that when
0:26:18.000,0:26:23.039
you make your would you like new
0:26:20.000,0:26:24.799
new trilogy or old trilogy original one
0:26:23.039,0:26:25.120
two or three which one do you want and
0:26:24.799,0:26:27.360
that’s
0:26:25.120,0:26:29.120
like an original or extra crispy trilogy
0:26:27.360,0:26:32.320
that’ll determine what
0:26:29.120,0:26:36.000
but it sounds like you know uh
0:26:32.320,0:26:39.200
somebody else had made the comment of um
0:26:36.000,0:26:42.880
very much like uh you know when you go
0:26:39.200,0:26:45.760
to batu and everybody’s uh acting
0:26:42.880,0:26:47.520
right right everybody’s in character
0:26:45.760,0:26:48.880
kind of like when you go to a rent fair
0:26:47.520,0:26:51.679
and think you know the
0:26:48.880,0:26:53.840
or if you play dungeons and dragons you
0:26:51.679,0:26:55.200
know the more you role-play the better
0:26:53.840,0:26:58.400
they shattered
0:26:55.200,0:27:00.000
the more you get involved with you know
0:26:58.400,0:27:02.799
the storyline or
0:27:00.000,0:27:03.919
you know oh you said the right thing so
0:27:02.799,0:27:06.000
you can
0:27:03.919,0:27:07.919
go and do this experience or if you
0:27:06.000,0:27:10.000
happen to play the sims and you have the
0:27:07.919,0:27:10.960
batu expansion pack you can interact
0:27:10.000,0:27:13.679
with the people there
0:27:10.960,0:27:14.320
right so it’ll be interesting to to see
0:27:13.679,0:27:16.799
how
0:27:14.320,0:27:18.320
you know how they they go about this i’m
0:27:16.799,0:27:19.440
looking forward to it i’m curious how
0:27:18.320,0:27:22.159
long the weight is going to be and how
0:27:19.440,0:27:24.880
long it’s going to take for us to get
0:27:22.159,0:27:26.320
reservations yeah because that’s the one
0:27:24.880,0:27:29.840
thing that’ll bring me back to
0:27:26.320,0:27:32.320
oh absolutely i i know
0:27:29.840,0:27:34.000
so trust me i’m sure i’ll get like 50
0:27:32.320,0:27:36.080
emails popping up saying
0:27:34.000,0:27:37.039
reservations are open resurrect you know
0:27:36.080,0:27:39.679
or you have to
0:27:37.039,0:27:40.480
log on at like midnight to get on a
0:27:39.679,0:27:44.000
waiting list
0:27:40.480,0:27:45.760
yeah we will i know we will
0:27:44.000,0:27:47.360
so that was all we had for our tales
0:27:45.760,0:27:48.480
from the edge of the galaxy
0:27:47.360,0:27:52.159
we’ll be right back with our

oh she left
0:29:14.559,0:29:22.640
so knives knives out 2
0:29:17.919,0:29:26.880
has added a hamilton star your favorite
0:29:22.640,0:29:30.080
star wars director ryan johnson
0:29:26.880,0:29:33.919
uh has been uh prepping his
0:29:30.080,0:29:35.600
knives out sequel with gradual reveals
0:29:33.919,0:29:38.320
of big stars to
0:29:35.600,0:29:40.640
follow the original oscar-nominated
0:29:38.320,0:29:44.000
whodunit and it’s shaping up to be
0:29:40.640,0:29:46.640
a an all-star cast following
0:29:44.000,0:29:47.520
recent news of catherine hahn actually
0:29:46.640,0:29:50.559
being added
0:29:47.520,0:29:53.679
to the netflix movie knives out 2
0:29:50.559,0:29:58.399
has now lined up its 6th actor
0:29:53.679,0:30:01.679
and it’s hamilton star leslie odom jr
0:29:58.399,0:30:03.120
so leslie odom jr is coming off of a
0:30:01.679,0:30:05.039
massive year
0:30:03.120,0:30:06.320
that the actor and singer he was
0:30:05.039,0:30:10.080
actually nominated for
0:30:06.320,0:30:13.039
an oscar for his portrayal of sam cook
0:30:10.080,0:30:13.600
in one night in miami and he’ll be
0:30:13.039,0:30:16.399
playing an
0:30:13.600,0:30:18.720
undisclosed role in the knives out
0:30:16.399,0:30:21.039
sequel with daniel craig
0:30:18.720,0:30:22.320
edward norton is on board with this
0:30:21.039,0:30:25.360
katherine hahn
0:30:22.320,0:30:28.640
uh and dave bautista according to

uh the hollywood reporter obviously the
0:30:28.640,0:30:33.840
actor is famously or is known for
0:30:32.000,0:30:37.520
famously portraying aaron burr
0:30:33.840,0:30:41.039
in the original cast of
0:30:37.520,0:30:43.520
of hamilton which earned him a tony for
0:30:41.039,0:30:45.840
best actor in a leading role
0:30:43.520,0:30:48.799
and obviously a lot of people last year
0:30:45.840,0:30:48.799
finally got to see
0:30:48.840,0:30:54.399
uh we have some visitors in
0:30:52.159,0:30:56.000
in the studio right now i don’t know if
0:30:54.399,0:30:58.320
you can yeah so we have
0:30:56.000,0:30:59.440
pumpkin and we have leota because we
0:30:58.320,0:31:01.039
have the door open because it gets
0:30:59.440,0:31:03.360
really hot in here oh and there they go
0:31:01.039,0:31:06.159
they’re like yeah we’re done
0:31:03.360,0:31:07.120
we came we saw we’re done our guest
0:31:06.159,0:31:10.399
today on the show
0:31:07.120,0:31:12.880
yesterday pumpkin and leota um
0:31:10.399,0:31:14.320
so obviously a lot of people got to see
0:31:12.880,0:31:18.640
the performance
0:31:14.320,0:31:21.279
of hamilton last summer when it went uh
0:31:18.640,0:31:22.720
premiered on disney plus um so the
0:31:21.279,0:31:25.440
original knives out
0:31:22.720,0:31:27.039
obviously if you haven’t seen it had a
0:31:25.440,0:31:29.279
very massive cast
0:31:27.039,0:31:30.559
that included chris evans jamie lee
0:31:29.279,0:31:33.519
curtis
0:31:30.559,0:31:34.880
the late christopher plummer uh and then
0:31:33.519,0:31:38.559
introduced uh
0:31:34.880,0:31:41.519
the um the detective character
0:31:38.559,0:31:43.120
uh i don’t even know how to pronounce
0:31:41.519,0:31:45.039
his name so i’m not even gonna try
0:31:43.120,0:31:46.720
but it was actually played by daniel
0:31:45.039,0:31:50.080
craig so
0:31:46.720,0:31:53.360
there were all these rumors about
0:31:50.080,0:31:54.880
a second version coming out or a sequel
0:31:53.360,0:31:56.720
coming out but it was like okay well if
0:31:54.880,0:31:58.480
you already solved the whodunit
0:31:56.720,0:32:00.240
how are you going to do a second one but
0:31:58.480,0:32:03.279
basically uh it’s
0:32:00.240,0:32:03.840
the detective he’s on another case and
0:32:03.279,0:32:05.919
that’s
0:32:03.840,0:32:08.240
how they’re doing a second version and
0:32:05.919,0:32:08.720
it uh and there’s possibly even going to
0:32:08.240,0:32:11.919
be a
0:32:08.720,0:32:13.360
third uh version as well um what’s kind
0:32:11.919,0:32:16.880
of funny is that
0:32:13.360,0:32:19.600
leslie odom jr back in 2017
0:32:16.880,0:32:20.480
he actually had a role in the agatha
0:32:19.600,0:32:22.799
christie
0:32:20.480,0:32:24.000
adaptation of murder on the orient
0:32:22.799,0:32:26.880
express
0:32:24.000,0:32:28.080
which has often been compared uh by
0:32:26.880,0:32:31.200
knives out
0:32:28.080,0:32:34.320
um so that
0:32:31.200,0:32:36.159
you know that’s a more classic version
0:32:34.320,0:32:37.679
of the whodunit where the knives at was
0:32:36.159,0:32:40.720
a more modern
0:32:37.679,0:32:42.640
take on it um so knives out is confirmed
0:32:40.720,0:32:44.559
to continue with a second and third
0:32:42.640,0:32:45.919
installment which will both be landing
0:32:44.559,0:32:49.360
on netflix
0:32:45.919,0:32:51.039
um so i personally am looking forward to
0:32:49.360,0:32:54.159
it because i did see the first one
0:32:51.039,0:32:56.240
and i thought it was really good so well
0:32:54.159,0:32:59.279
being the cultural swine that i am
0:32:56.240,0:33:00.399
i never did see the first one uh it’s
0:32:59.279,0:33:03.279
probably available
0:33:00.399,0:33:04.480
on on amazon maybe it’ll be next week’s
0:33:03.279,0:33:06.799
pick you never know
0:33:04.480,0:33:08.399
maybe i’ll get you to watch it um but
0:33:06.799,0:33:10.960
with leslie odom jr i think he’s a
0:33:08.399,0:33:13.760
fantastic actor yeah and the first one
0:33:10.960,0:33:14.399
was real was you know such an amazing
0:33:13.760,0:33:16.960
cat
0:33:14.399,0:33:17.840
don johnson you know was in it too and
0:33:16.960,0:33:20.559
it was like
0:33:17.840,0:33:22.240
all right this is interesting heather
0:33:20.559,0:33:22.640
see i think the biggest challenge with
0:33:22.240,0:33:25.840
this
0:33:22.640,0:33:27.039
is to find a way to get find some excuse
0:33:25.840,0:33:28.880
to get him to sing
0:33:27.039,0:33:30.159
right because he has a fantastic oh
0:33:28.880,0:33:31.440
absolutely yeah
0:33:30.159,0:33:33.120
yeah and i don’t know if that would
0:33:31.440,0:33:34.399
really work in a movie like this yeah
0:33:33.120,0:33:36.559
probably not because in
0:33:34.399,0:33:38.000
the agatha christie one he didn’t sing
0:33:36.559,0:33:39.279
either so that’s okay
0:33:38.000,0:33:42.159
yeah that’s all right we’ll just keep
0:33:39.279,0:33:45.200
watching now there you go
0:33:42.159,0:33:45.200
next up we have
0:33:46.159,0:33:51.360
so it seems in a an article in an
0:33:49.760,0:33:54.480
interview that was on
0:33:51.360,0:33:55.519
yahoo more than 35 years after his big
0:33:54.480,0:33:59.120
screen debut
0:33:55.519,0:34:00.320
as the uh as uh johnny lawrence in the
0:33:59.120,0:34:04.799
karate kid
0:34:00.320,0:34:08.560
uh william uh zabika
0:34:04.799,0:34:10.960
zapka sorry is now you know
0:34:08.560,0:34:12.879
a legitimate emmy contender for his
0:34:10.960,0:34:13.599
performance as the adult johnny on
0:34:12.879,0:34:16.480
netflix
0:34:13.599,0:34:18.879
cobra kai um he said in the interview
0:34:16.480,0:34:20.560
the 18 year old me is kicking myself on
0:34:18.879,0:34:23.040
a beach somewhere
0:34:20.560,0:34:24.960
it’s so unbelievable he said the wild
0:34:23.040,0:34:28.079
success of cobra kai
0:34:24.960,0:34:28.879
which follows johnny and daniel larusso
0:34:28.079,0:34:31.919
as they
0:34:28.879,0:34:34.879
run dueling karate dojos is even more
0:34:31.919,0:34:38.480
surprising giving that the teenage
0:34:34.879,0:34:40.720
johnny didn’t think or or
0:34:38.480,0:34:42.320
the teenage billy didn’t think that he
0:34:40.720,0:34:44.800
even had a chance
0:34:42.320,0:34:46.800
to play johnny in the first place he
0:34:44.800,0:34:49.919
said when i read the karate kip
0:34:46.800,0:34:51.679
the karate kid script as i turned the
0:34:49.919,0:34:52.639
pages i was like i’m never going to get
0:34:51.679,0:34:55.200
this park
0:34:52.639,0:34:57.200
i’m not a black belt i don’t know karate
0:34:55.200,0:34:59.040
he’s in a motorcycle gang
0:34:57.200,0:35:00.640
you know i don’t even know how to ride a
0:34:59.040,0:35:02.640
motorcycle he’s mean
0:35:00.640,0:35:04.640
the last thing that i did was a milk
0:35:02.640,0:35:06.640
commercial maybe even eminem’s
0:35:04.640,0:35:08.320
um they’re never going to see me as this
0:35:06.640,0:35:11.359
bad guy
0:35:08.320,0:35:16.160
but fortunately every karate kid and
0:35:11.359,0:35:18.480
cobra kai fan knows that he was wrong um
0:35:16.160,0:35:19.200
that he was obviously perfect for the
0:35:18.480,0:35:22.400
part
0:35:19.200,0:35:25.920
um it was interesting so i i watched the
0:35:22.400,0:35:28.400
the whole uh interview and he had said
0:35:25.920,0:35:29.760
you know that if you would have told him
0:35:28.400,0:35:31.760
0:35:29.760,0:35:32.800
are you gonna you know reprise this role
0:35:31.760,0:35:35.440
he would have been like
0:35:32.800,0:35:36.720
yeah probably not and he said that
0:35:35.440,0:35:40.079
throughout his career
0:35:36.720,0:35:41.520
a lot of people have brought him various
0:35:40.079,0:35:43.839
different things
0:35:41.520,0:35:45.599
um to kind of reprise the role but just
0:35:43.839,0:35:49.040
nothing seemed
0:35:45.599,0:35:52.160
right uh it wasn’t the the right
0:35:49.040,0:35:54.480
type of project uh he even did
0:35:52.160,0:35:56.640
he said he did a music video back in
0:35:54.480,0:35:58.000
like 2008 that was like a parody called
0:35:56.640,0:36:01.920
sweep the leg
0:35:58.000,0:36:04.800
um so he kind of you know
0:36:01.920,0:36:05.599
didn’t put too much emphasis on it and
0:36:04.800,0:36:07.680
he said
0:36:05.599,0:36:09.760
you know he had kind of lost touch with
0:36:07.680,0:36:12.640
uh you know with most of the cast
0:36:09.760,0:36:14.240
but when pat marita had passed away he
0:36:12.640,0:36:17.359
had gone to the memorial
0:36:14.240,0:36:18.240
and that’s when he and ralph machu kind
0:36:17.359,0:36:20.960
of teamed back
0:36:18.240,0:36:22.160
up again and kept in touch and kind of
0:36:20.960,0:36:24.560
rekindled
0:36:22.160,0:36:27.200
uh their friendship and then you had
0:36:24.560,0:36:30.079
this group of writers that came along
0:36:27.200,0:36:31.680
and showed the script and he just fell
0:36:30.079,0:36:34.800
in love with it because
0:36:31.680,0:36:38.720
you got to see this other side of johnny
0:36:34.800,0:36:41.119
that kind of made sense like
0:36:38.720,0:36:42.800
it worked it was much better than
0:36:41.119,0:36:46.160
anything else that he had even
0:36:42.800,0:36:47.680
you know thought of so he was very happy
0:36:46.160,0:36:51.280
obviously to
0:36:47.680,0:36:53.599
to take it and run with it and
0:36:51.280,0:36:55.440
you know obviously we’re gonna get a
0:36:53.599,0:36:57.680
another season out of it and
0:36:55.440,0:36:58.560
he could possibly you know get an emmy
0:36:57.680,0:37:00.960
for it too
0:36:58.560,0:37:03.040
yeah i think that’s cool i think the
0:37:00.960,0:37:06.240
probably the outstanding thing about
0:37:03.040,0:37:08.160
the the new cobra kai series is how they
0:37:06.240,0:37:09.280
humanize the characters you know you
0:37:08.160,0:37:11.200
didn’t see that much
0:37:09.280,0:37:12.960
character development in the movies
0:37:11.200,0:37:16.320
themselves except for
0:37:12.960,0:37:17.839
you know daniel and mr miyagi right
0:37:16.320,0:37:20.000
the fact that you’re you’re getting
0:37:17.839,0:37:21.520
these i mean i don’t want to call him a
0:37:20.000,0:37:23.040
tertiary character he was a main
0:37:21.520,0:37:26.720
character for the first movie
0:37:23.040,0:37:29.119
right but you’re seeing that you know
0:37:26.720,0:37:30.240
movies back in the 80s were very black
0:37:29.119,0:37:32.160
and white
0:37:30.240,0:37:34.079
your bad guy was bad your good guy was
0:37:32.160,0:37:36.240
good and that’s just the way it was
0:37:34.079,0:37:37.359
right and what you’re seeing now is
0:37:36.240,0:37:39.520
you’re you’re seeing
0:37:37.359,0:37:41.599
different facets of characters now
0:37:39.520,0:37:44.400
you’re seeing some character depth
0:37:41.599,0:37:45.119
and some characters really still are bad
0:37:44.400,0:37:48.000
but
0:37:45.119,0:37:48.480
right and you know and like you kind of
0:37:48.000,0:37:52.240
feel
0:37:48.480,0:37:54.640
bad for him yeah but yet you know
0:37:52.240,0:37:56.240
hey you made that bed you you know like
0:37:54.640,0:37:58.320
you you understand
0:37:56.240,0:37:59.280
now why he’s the way he is but he
0:37:58.320,0:38:01.280
doesn’t excuse
0:37:59.280,0:38:04.000
the way that he is right but it’s nice
0:38:01.280,0:38:07.119
to see that he’s kind of trying to
0:38:04.000,0:38:09.119
redeem himself and it’s and
0:38:07.119,0:38:10.880
what he thought was kind of funny in the
0:38:09.119,0:38:13.760
whole thing was that
0:38:10.880,0:38:15.520
how stuck in the 80s they made him like
0:38:13.760,0:38:16.640
he doesn’t know about the internet he
0:38:15.520,0:38:18.560
doesn’t know about
0:38:16.640,0:38:19.760
you know so they showed a clip of when
0:38:18.560,0:38:20.640
you know he and miguel are at the
0:38:19.760,0:38:22.880
concert and
0:38:20.640,0:38:24.720
he’s like yeah make sure you you you
0:38:22.880,0:38:26.000
know you copy that and send me a copy
0:38:24.720,0:38:27.680
he’s like yeah i’ll tag you
0:38:26.000,0:38:29.839
he’s like what do you mean you tag me
0:38:27.680,0:38:32.160
yeah i’ll tag you on facebook
0:38:29.839,0:38:32.960
what’s facebook you know where things
0:38:32.160,0:38:34.560
that
0:38:32.960,0:38:36.320
most people take for granted or most
0:38:34.560,0:38:39.200
people know the reference
0:38:36.320,0:38:39.839
he’s still stuck in 1980s and you know
0:38:39.200,0:38:42.800
hasn’t
0:38:39.839,0:38:44.640
realized that the world has moved on the
0:38:42.800,0:38:46.400
show itself has a lot of character
0:38:44.640,0:38:46.880
because of its character development
0:38:46.400,0:38:48.880
yeah
0:38:46.880,0:38:49.920
and and it’s those character stories
0:38:48.880,0:38:52.960
it’s those
0:38:49.920,0:38:56.720
the the the backgrounds and
0:38:52.960,0:38:57.440
the flaws and the insecurities that they
0:38:56.720,0:38:59.440
explore
0:38:57.440,0:39:00.640
that’s really what’s making the movie
0:38:59.440,0:39:04.960
it’s not or the
0:39:00.640,0:39:06.880
tv show it’s not this overriding plot
0:39:04.960,0:39:09.200
it’s that plot to get you to tune in
0:39:06.880,0:39:11.200
every week yeah but every episode is a
0:39:09.200,0:39:13.839
different facet of the personalities
0:39:11.200,0:39:14.640
i think it’s a very well written
0:39:13.839,0:39:18.400
absolutely
0:39:14.640,0:39:20.160
great actors too so that was all we had
0:39:18.400,0:39:22.720
that’s it entertainment news we’ll be
0:39:20.160,0:39:27.119
right back with our
0:39:22.720,0:39:28.640
with our insightful picks of the week
0:39:27.119,0:39:30.800
i hadn’t scrolled up that far in my
0:39:28.640,0:39:32.160
notes not a problem i abandoned my notes
0:39:30.800,0:39:34.880
oh my gosh
0:39:32.160,0:39:34.880
we’ll be right back
0:39:36.780,0:39:41.119
[Applause]
0:39:38.160,0:39:43.200
go for your insightful pick so hey my
0:39:41.119,0:39:46.880
insightful pic of the week
0:39:43.200,0:39:50.960
is a british documentary
0:39:46.880,0:39:54.240
shocker shocker and it’s on disney plus
0:39:50.960,0:39:57.040
wow um it’s actually also on
0:39:54.240,0:39:57.440
national geographic as well because it’s
0:39:57.040,0:40:00.800
uh
0:39:57.440,0:40:01.680
under that um banner on disney plus is
0:40:00.800,0:40:05.200
the national
0:40:01.680,0:40:06.160
uh nat geo uh and it is called being the
0:40:05.200,0:40:08.560
queen
0:40:06.160,0:40:10.079
um so in this biography of queen
0:40:08.560,0:40:13.040
elizabeth ii
0:40:10.079,0:40:13.920
uh 1895 films which is the company that
0:40:13.040,0:40:16.480
made it
0:40:13.920,0:40:16.960
uses a treasure trove of never before
0:40:16.480,0:40:19.280
heard
0:40:16.960,0:40:20.319
interviews from dozens of people who
0:40:19.280,0:40:23.280
have known the queen
0:40:20.319,0:40:25.200
personally to tell the story of her life
0:40:23.280,0:40:27.200
this appropriately
0:40:25.200,0:40:29.040
this approach paired with deeply
0:40:27.200,0:40:31.520
researched archival
0:40:29.040,0:40:32.960
footage puts us in the room with queen
0:40:31.520,0:40:34.880
elizabeth ii
0:40:32.960,0:40:36.160
during some of the most important and
0:40:34.880,0:40:39.040
trying events
0:40:36.160,0:40:39.680
of the history of the british monarchy
0:40:39.040,0:40:42.000
it’s
0:40:39.680,0:40:44.319
kind of interesting because it’s only a
0:40:42.000,0:40:47.359
44 minute
0:40:44.319,0:40:50.880
uh documentary but it it basically
0:40:47.359,0:40:53.720
runs the the gamut of um
0:40:50.880,0:40:54.960
you know the the start of her um
0:40:53.720,0:40:58.560
[Music]
0:40:54.960,0:41:00.800
monarchy uh everything with the
0:40:58.560,0:41:02.480
all of her children getting married all
0:41:00.800,0:41:03.440
of their marriage is kind of breaking
0:41:02.480,0:41:06.800
down
0:41:03.440,0:41:09.920
um you know diana passing away
0:41:06.800,0:41:14.000
um up until um because
0:41:09.920,0:41:16.240
it was a 2020 um
0:41:14.000,0:41:17.280
documentary so obviously philip is still
0:41:16.240,0:41:21.119
alive at the
0:41:17.280,0:41:24.160
end of it but it’s a a nice condensed
0:41:21.119,0:41:27.440
version of it but it does touch on
0:41:24.160,0:41:28.160
a lot of key points uh if you’re
0:41:27.440,0:41:31.200
somebody who
0:41:28.160,0:41:32.000
watched the crown there’s different
0:41:31.200,0:41:33.599
things that
0:41:32.000,0:41:35.040
uh are people who watched the crown
0:41:33.599,0:41:37.280
there was english accents
0:41:35.040,0:41:39.200
but for somebody else you’re like oh
0:41:37.280,0:41:41.040
okay you know where there were things
0:41:39.200,0:41:42.720
that happened on the crown that i didn’t
0:41:41.040,0:41:46.079
necessarily know about
0:41:42.720,0:41:47.680
that had happened and watching the
0:41:46.079,0:41:49.440
documentary they were brought up so it
0:41:47.680,0:41:50.800
was like oh okay yeah i remember that so
0:41:49.440,0:41:53.440
they touch on
0:41:50.800,0:41:54.319
other various things um you know one of
0:41:53.440,0:41:57.440
the things
0:41:54.319,0:42:01.040
was talking about her her coronation
0:41:57.440,0:42:03.520
and one of her ladies in waiting uh
0:42:01.040,0:42:05.280
who’s one of her cousins or something
0:42:03.520,0:42:08.319
and you know she talks about
0:42:05.280,0:42:11.520
that day and they have a
0:42:08.319,0:42:14.880
video uh you know film video of
0:42:11.520,0:42:15.440
of that day and you can see some various
0:42:14.880,0:42:17.040
things and
0:42:15.440,0:42:19.440
and she talks about it’s a little behind
0:42:17.040,0:42:22.000
the things scene so
0:42:19.440,0:42:22.960
again a nice little condensed version
0:42:22.000,0:42:26.319
it’s not one of these
0:42:22.960,0:42:29.119
three hour long uh uh
0:42:26.319,0:42:30.400
documentaries it’s a nice short concise
0:42:29.119,0:42:32.960
you know and again
0:42:30.400,0:42:34.160
some information you’ve heard before
0:42:32.960,0:42:37.359
you’ve seen before
0:42:34.160,0:42:40.640
but there were different aspects
0:42:37.359,0:42:45.310
uh to it as well which which was nice so
0:42:40.640,0:42:47.280
nice pick thank you
0:42:45.310,0:42:50.400
[Applause]
0:42:47.280,0:42:52.079
so my pick this week is
0:42:50.400,0:42:53.520
digging deep in the woods this is
0:42:52.079,0:42:56.880
another one oh wow
0:42:53.520,0:42:59.119
yeah yeah this is another one of my uh
0:42:56.880,0:43:00.319
gems that i found on amazon prime it’s
0:42:59.119,0:43:03.920
called the new york’s
0:43:00.319,0:43:06.000
world’s fair in 1964 being the history
0:43:03.920,0:43:08.240
buff that i am
0:43:06.000,0:43:09.119
it’s an extraordinary documentary that
0:43:08.240,0:43:11.119
takes a fresh
0:43:09.119,0:43:13.359
look at the sights and sounds of this
0:43:11.119,0:43:16.560
once on the lifetime event
0:43:13.359,0:43:19.599
produced in 1996 this is one of the the
0:43:16.560,0:43:21.599
dig deep rare treasure finds of amazon
0:43:19.599,0:43:23.599
using vintage footage from the fair
0:43:21.599,0:43:25.040
you’re transported back in time to this
0:43:23.599,0:43:27.599
historic event
0:43:25.040,0:43:29.520
where quote cutting-edge technology was
0:43:27.599,0:43:32.160
on display
0:43:29.520,0:43:33.200
the new york world’s fair held over 140
0:43:32.160,0:43:37.119
pavilions
0:43:33.200,0:43:41.040
110 restaurants 80 nations involved
0:43:37.119,0:43:43.359
24 u.s states and over 45 corporations
0:43:41.040,0:43:46.000
to build exhibits or attractions at
0:43:43.359,0:43:48.720
flushing meadows in queens new york
0:43:46.000,0:43:50.720
the classic documentary takes you on a
0:43:48.720,0:43:52.319
nearly one-hour walk through some of the
0:43:50.720,0:43:54.000
offerings of the fair
0:43:52.319,0:43:56.319
you get a feel for the spirit of the
0:43:54.000,0:43:57.920
fair the architecture and the technology
0:43:56.319,0:44:00.160
on display
0:43:57.920,0:44:01.680
the fairest theme was peace through
0:44:00.160,0:44:04.319
understanding
0:44:01.680,0:44:05.520
dedicated to man’s achievement on a
0:44:04.319,0:44:08.800
shrinking globe
0:44:05.520,0:44:12.079
in an expanding universe very
0:44:08.800,0:44:14.560
uh lofty goals very uh
0:44:12.079,0:44:16.000
you know significant achievements they
0:44:14.560,0:44:17.760
were going for
0:44:16.000,0:44:20.000
american companies dominated the
0:44:17.760,0:44:22.079
exhibition as exhibitors
0:44:20.000,0:44:24.400
disney being one of the most prominent
0:44:22.079,0:44:26.240
with several other exhibitions
0:44:24.400,0:44:28.079
uh retiring to the disney theme parks
0:44:26.240,0:44:29.599
such as it’s a small world and carousel
0:44:28.079,0:44:31.520
of progress
0:44:29.599,0:44:33.200
one of which is one of my favorite rides
0:44:31.520,0:44:35.280
the other one i try to avoid like the
0:44:33.200,0:44:37.119
plague
0:44:35.280,0:44:39.280
you can try and figure out which one is
0:44:37.119,0:44:40.880
which
0:44:39.280,0:44:42.800
while the documentary mutes the
0:44:40.880,0:44:44.720
overriding cultural significance of the
0:44:42.800,0:44:46.480
cold war going on at the time
0:44:44.720,0:44:48.400
you can’t help but feel the energy and
0:44:46.480,0:44:50.480
excitement of the space race
0:44:48.400,0:44:52.560
that was a direct result of that quasi
0:44:50.480,0:44:55.200
conflict throughout the film
0:44:52.560,0:44:57.599
it was one of the last great exhibitions
0:44:55.200,0:44:59.920
of american innocence and innovation
0:44:57.599,0:45:01.599
before the darker more turbulent times
0:44:59.920,0:45:03.520
just a few years ahead
0:45:01.599,0:45:04.640
with the vietnam war and watergate
0:45:03.520,0:45:06.319
scandals
0:45:04.640,0:45:08.800
when america seemed to lose its
0:45:06.319,0:45:11.200
innocence what i liked about this
0:45:08.800,0:45:13.359
is that they didn’t it wasn’t tilted
0:45:11.200,0:45:17.599
towards any of the corporations
0:45:13.359,0:45:19.359
you saw glimpses right and like
0:45:17.599,0:45:21.520
disney didn’t display anything they
0:45:19.359,0:45:22.880
didn’t have an exhibition there they did
0:45:21.520,0:45:23.280
it for all these other corporations
0:45:22.880,0:45:25.599
right
0:45:23.280,0:45:26.640
right so disney’s not even mentioned in
0:45:25.599,0:45:28.240
here
0:45:26.640,0:45:29.760
but you see some of their displays like
0:45:28.240,0:45:31.440
you see the building that was the
0:45:29.760,0:45:33.359
carousel of progress and you know
0:45:31.440,0:45:34.000
immediately what it is right in the film
0:45:33.359,0:45:36.160
right
0:45:34.000,0:45:38.720
um there was another one where they had
0:45:36.160,0:45:41.119
uh greyhound had sponsored these little
0:45:38.720,0:45:42.240
um shuttles they were they were i don’t
0:45:41.119,0:45:45.119
know like
0:45:42.240,0:45:45.760
souped up golf carts almost and i had
0:45:45.119,0:45:47.920
watched an
0:45:45.760,0:45:49.280
episode of american restoration where
0:45:47.920,0:45:51.040
they dug one of these up
0:45:49.280,0:45:52.560
and they actually rebuilt one of these
0:45:51.040,0:45:54.720
and restored it
0:45:52.560,0:45:56.480
and it was neat to actually see them
0:45:54.720,0:45:57.920
puttering around the exhibit
0:45:56.480,0:45:59.680
you know people in these there were like
0:45:57.920,0:46:02.560
two or three people you know little
0:45:59.680,0:46:04.319
vehicles okay um it was just very neat
0:46:02.560,0:46:07.359
to see
0:46:04.319,0:46:09.520
at the time it was so futuristic uh-huh
0:46:07.359,0:46:11.119
right and some of the architecture still
0:46:09.520,0:46:14.960
holds up to this day
0:46:11.119,0:46:18.160
yeah but the technology was just
0:46:14.960,0:46:19.760
like it’s almost like the nostalgia of
0:46:18.160,0:46:23.119
it is worth watching
0:46:19.760,0:46:24.240
uh to see what we thought the future was
0:46:23.119,0:46:27.680
going to be like then
0:46:24.240,0:46:28.079
and what it is today right so it’s only
0:46:27.680,0:46:30.400
an hour
0:46:28.079,0:46:31.119
it’s available on amazon prime it’s a
0:46:30.400,0:46:33.359
nice little
0:46:31.119,0:46:35.280
little flashback in in time to some
0:46:33.359,0:46:40.560
american history there
0:46:35.280,0:46:40.560
very cool uh the new york world’s fair
0:46:40.839,0:46:43.839
1964.
0:46:44.870,0:46:49.520
[Applause]
0:46:46.640,0:46:49.839
so i think that was just about it we did
0:46:49.520,0:46:51.599
have
0:46:49.839,0:46:53.280
one more thing that we wanted to talk
0:46:51.599,0:46:57.520
about with our live audience
0:46:53.280,0:46:57.760
right so as we mentioned we kind of had
0:46:57.520,0:47:00.800
a
0:46:57.760,0:47:02.160
fun-filled weekend coming up um so one
0:47:00.800,0:47:05.680
of the things that we
0:47:02.160,0:47:08.960
are going to be attending on sunday
0:47:05.680,0:47:12.560
is the monster mania outdoor
0:47:08.960,0:47:15.680
little mall of horrors pop-up event
0:47:12.560,0:47:19.040
um so those of you that are from the
0:47:15.680,0:47:20.160
the area um even down in maryland as
0:47:19.040,0:47:23.440
well because they do
0:47:20.160,0:47:24.000
uh go down there monster mania is one of
0:47:23.440,0:47:26.240
those
0:47:24.000,0:47:28.079
events that happen a couple of times a
0:47:26.240,0:47:31.280
year they do one up in
0:47:28.079,0:47:32.000
here in cherry hill uh and then they do
0:47:31.280,0:47:34.400
one
0:47:32.000,0:47:35.680
uh down in the maryland area and it’s a
0:47:34.400,0:47:38.559
horror film
0:47:35.680,0:47:40.000
uh and memorabilia convention they
0:47:38.559,0:47:41.359
usually have a whole bunch of different
0:47:40.000,0:47:43.440
celebrities there
0:47:41.359,0:47:45.040
that’s where a lot of the walking dead
0:47:43.440,0:47:48.000
stars when
0:47:45.040,0:47:49.680
like before the show even came out were
0:47:48.000,0:47:53.040
making the rounds there
0:47:49.680,0:47:54.000
um so they do photo ops with celebrities
0:47:53.040,0:47:56.559
and things like that
0:47:54.000,0:47:57.680
obviously when convention stopped this
0:47:56.559,0:48:00.640
was one
0:47:57.680,0:48:01.839
that had to happen the pandemic casualty
0:48:00.640,0:48:05.200
of the pandemic
0:48:01.839,0:48:07.119
but it seems they were able to kind of
0:48:05.200,0:48:09.680
put their minds together and kind of
0:48:07.119,0:48:13.040
come up with a
0:48:09.680,0:48:13.599
mini mall version of it so what they’re
0:48:13.040,0:48:16.960
doing
0:48:13.599,0:48:18.400
is also one of the other convention
0:48:16.960,0:48:21.440
areas that we
0:48:18.400,0:48:22.240
usually hit is the uh philadelphia
0:48:21.440,0:48:25.599
convention
0:48:22.240,0:48:28.880
center in oaks pennsylvania which is a
0:48:25.599,0:48:31.040
huge um four or
0:48:28.880,0:48:32.880
six exhibit halls yeah i want to say
0:48:31.040,0:48:34.559
four four halls but i think they can
0:48:32.880,0:48:36.640
break it down into other ones
0:48:34.559,0:48:38.079
well they have this huge parking lot
0:48:36.640,0:48:41.440
because of all of this
0:48:38.079,0:48:44.079
so they’re going to be doing an outside
0:48:41.440,0:48:45.359
event this coming weekend this is the
0:48:44.079,0:48:47.440
first time that they’ve
0:48:45.359,0:48:49.760
ever tried anything so it’s basically
0:48:47.440,0:48:52.960
all of the vendors that would normally
0:48:49.760,0:48:55.920
be at their event and then some uh
0:48:52.960,0:48:57.119
will be there uh normally monster mania
0:48:55.920,0:49:00.240
is what like thirty five
0:48:57.119,0:49:03.440
forty dollars for the day uh
0:49:00.240,0:49:06.480
so because there aren’t all
0:49:03.440,0:49:09.040
as many extra things it’s only 15
0:49:06.480,0:49:10.079
to get in there might still be tickets
0:49:09.040,0:49:12.480
available for
0:49:10.079,0:49:14.319
sunday because again they only had
0:49:12.480,0:49:18.240
limited quantities available
0:49:14.319,0:49:20.960
but then as uh limit restrictions
0:49:18.240,0:49:22.079
opened up they did open up some some
0:49:20.960,0:49:25.119
tickets
0:49:22.079,0:49:28.160
um masks are required even though
0:49:25.119,0:49:31.280
the whole cdc blah blah blah outside
0:49:28.160,0:49:34.160
masks are required for everybody so
0:49:31.280,0:49:37.240
again if you’re watching this live
0:49:34.160,0:49:38.480
and you’re in the area uh you can go to
0:49:37.240,0:49:40.960
monstermania.net
0:49:38.480,0:49:42.319
see if there’s still tickets available
0:49:40.960,0:49:43.680
we are probably go
0:49:42.319,0:49:45.839
you know more than likely we’ll talk
0:49:43.680,0:49:47.520
about this next week maybe
0:49:45.839,0:49:49.200
we’ll have some we’ll have some footage
0:49:47.520,0:49:50.000
we’ll bring back and show folks what it
0:49:49.200,0:49:52.240
was
0:49:50.000,0:49:53.280
you know and maybe again if this is
0:49:52.240,0:49:56.559
something
0:49:53.280,0:49:58.800
that goes well maybe it’s something
0:49:56.559,0:50:01.920
they’ll think about doing
0:49:58.800,0:50:03.760
in the future who who knows so so look
0:50:01.920,0:50:06.160
forward to being outside of the parking
0:50:03.760,0:50:08.079
lot in 90s 96 degree weather
0:50:06.160,0:50:09.599
oh and they are gonna have a bunch of
0:50:08.079,0:50:11.119
celebrities there too so
0:50:09.599,0:50:14.240
you know for as long as they can survive
0:50:11.119,0:50:16.240
with you they’ll probably be in enclosed
0:50:14.240,0:50:18.000
uh you know things with a whole lot of
0:50:16.240,0:50:19.200
fan everybody’s gonna have generators
0:50:18.000,0:50:21.760
with like
0:50:19.200,0:50:22.400
with the pants and stuff so it’ll be
0:50:21.760,0:50:24.480
definitely
0:50:22.400,0:50:26.000
interesting to see this again is one of
0:50:24.480,0:50:29.200
the first events that we’re going
0:50:26.000,0:50:30.720
to uh you know since everything’s kind
0:50:29.200,0:50:33.040
of reopening so we’ll
0:50:30.720,0:50:34.480
we’ll see hopefully it goes well that
0:50:33.040,0:50:36.160
should be interesting
0:50:34.480,0:50:37.599
before we let you go though i would
