Disney World to reduce social distancing requirements in select areas of theme parks
https://www.clickorlando.com/theme-parks/2021/05/12/disney-world-to-reduce-social-distancing-requirements-in-select-areas-of-theme-parks/#//

Walt Disney World has announced plans to relax physical distancing measures in select areas of its theme parks.
Since the Orlando-area parks reopened last year, guests have been required to maintain 6-feet distance between one another to prevent the spread of COVID-19. On Wednesday, the company’s website indicated that measure would soon be relaxed in certain spots.
“Temporary adjustments are still in place to promote physical distancing. While we will reduce physical distancing measures for guests across many areas with a gradual, phased approach, six-feet distancing measures will continue in all dining locations, merchandise stores and in areas where guests can temporarily remove their masks,” Disney’s site read.
According to the website, the following physical distancing measures remain in place:
Signage and ground markings: Please follow directional signage and ground markings, which have been installed throughout Walt Disney World Resort to help Guests better navigate common areas while practicing physical distancing
Physical barriers: Physical barriers have been added in select places to help promote proper separation between people, including in queues and on transportation and attractions. Barriers may also be visible, for example, in areas around cash registers or at Guest Relations
Party size: Guests traveling in parties of more than 10 are asked to split into smaller groups in queues, dining locations and other areas around our parks and resorts to better allow for physical distancing
Parking: Cashless payment is recommended at the auto plazas
Training: Cast Members are trained to engage with Guests and promote physical distancing guidelines in common areas and queues
Disney has already begun phasing out temperature screenings at its park as more and more people become vaccinated against the novel coronavirus. As of May 8, cast members were no longer required to undergo the screenings. Temperature screenings for guests will remain in place until May 16, according to the company.
Face coverings are also still required inside the parks but can be removed while guests are actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo, as long as they are stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during that time.
Universal Orlando made similar changes within its theme parks earlier this month, reducing the physical distancing requirement from 6 feet to 3 feet and nixing temperature screenings.
Stage shows are back at Walt Disney World with the opening of ‘A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King’
https://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions/festival-of-the-lion-king/news/08may2021-stage-shows-are-back-at-walt-disney-world-with-the-opening-of-a-celebration-of-festival-of-the-lion-king.htm
https://bit.ly/3bohC44
Large scale live entertainment is back at Walt Disney World today as Disney’s Animal Kingdom resumes live shows at the Harambe Theatre.
“A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King” is a modified version of the hugely popular Festival of the Lion King that has performed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for many years.
To accommodate COVID-19 restrictions, the theatre’s capacity has been greatly reduced to approximately a third of its maximum.
Empty rows provide physical distancing between groups, and parties are seated in groups of 4. If you are a group larger than 4 you will be split up.
No virtual queue or FastPass+ is in operation, but the standby line has capacity to snake throughout Africa from the bridge to Pandora, all the way back to the main bridge into Africa.
The show itself has been modified to allow for physical distancing of the performers.
This means the show is about 5 minutes shorter, and we unfortunately lose the tumble monkeys and the flying bird segments of the show.
These modifications are temporary during the pandemic, and the expectation is that the full show will return when conditions allow.
Guest participation on the stage has been eliminated, so don’t expect kids to be able to take to the stage for the finale parade.
The show is in unannounced previews now, with an official debut on May 15 2021. Today’s first show began at 12:20pm.

Disney includes Gina Carano in its Mandalorian Emmy awards push
https://www.cnet.com/news/disney-includes-gina-carano-in-its-the-mandalorian-emmy-awards-push/
https://cnet.co/3hjZJax
Despite Lucasfilm stating it would no longer work with her, it has included Gina Carano in its Emmy “for your consideration” awards push for The Mandalorian.
On Sunday, a poster surfaced from Disney, which owns the Star Wars production company, promoting cast members including Pedro Pascal and Giancarlo Esposito for awards contention. Carano is listed under the best supporting actress category.
In February, Carano shared a now deleted post on her Instagram story likening being a Republican today to being Jewish during the Holocaust. The post was captured and shared on social media, causing severe backlash and the hashtag #FireGinaCarano to trend.
The same week, Lucasfilm issued a statement saying the studio would no longer employ the actress.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Carano addressed the Instagram post and explained that she was “inspired by the gentle spirit of the Jewish people going through that time,” adding, “[w]hen I posted that it wasn’t something that I felt was controversial. It was something that I thought, well, maybe all of us need to ask ourselves how that happened.
“I’ve got every single big publication saying she’s comparing conservatives and Republicans to this and that’s not really what I was doing… I have love for everyone. I’m not a hateful person.”
Carano reportedly discovered her status with Star Wars on social media when Lucasfilm released its statement.
Seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian are streaming on Disney Plus. The 2021 Emmy Awards show is scheduled to take place Sept. 19, airing on CBS.

James Gunn says Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is the end of the story
https://winteriscoming.net/2021/05/10/james-gunn-guardians-of-the-galaxy-3-end/
https://bit.ly/3uJNJmp
James Gunn loves interacting with fans on social media. When someone asked about him potentially working on a fourth Guardians of the Galaxy movie, he was incredibly candid about the franchise’s future. Though he’s open to anything, he wrote Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as the bookend to the story that started in the first movie. “Me? Never say never but I see Vol 3 as the end of the Guardians’ story I started telling back with Vol 1.”
Gunn’s post comes as Drax actor Dave Bautista suggested that his Marvel contract will be up at the end of filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Bautista insisted that Drax could still live on through another actor, but Gunn only sees Bautista in the role.
Will Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 be the final Guardians movie?
When Guardians of the Galaxy debuted in 2014, no one knew how the story of a rag-tag team of space-faring loners would be received. The Guardians weren’t as well-known as other Marvel characters like Iron Man or Captain America. Upon its debut, Rocket, Groot and the rest of the team became instant icons.
The movie’s success was a welcome sign for Marvel, proving that it could take even lesser known heroes and make them stars. A sequel was planned along with tie-ins to future Marvel movies, and Disney transformed the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disneyland into Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission – Breakout.
Bautista, who has been with the franchise from the start, notes that by the time Vol. 3 is released he’ll be 54 years old and (probably) ready to hand the role to someone else. At the very least, he’s only under contract through the third movie, so his future with the franchise is uncertain.
Gunn insists that he would never want someone else to play Drax, so that puts a fourth movie into a challenging position because it would require contracts to be extended and that might not be possible.
Whether or not a fourth movie is forthcoming, it looks like James Gunn is working hard to ensure the third movie delivers a satisfying story that brings his characters to a fulfilling end, even if there are more adventures beyond the trilogy.
NBC cancels Golden Globes for 2022, saying HFPA must first address its problems
https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2021/05/10/golden-globes-2022-ceremony-dropped-nbc-after-hfpa-scandal/5026394001/
https://bit.ly/2RR6WnC
Growing Hollywood pushback against the scandal-plagued Hollywood Foreign Press Association became an avalanche Monday, as NBC announced it won’t broadcast the HFPA’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony in 2022.
The network’s decision comes after an array of top-flight film and TV companies, including Netflix, Amazon and WarnerMedia, distanced themselves from the HFPA and the Globes in recent days. The HFPA has not said whether it will try to hold a Globes ceremony next year.
The 87-member group, made up of critics for overseas media outlets, has been engulfed by issues ranging from preferential treatment sought by its members to lack of racial representation in its ranks, which included no Black members, according to a Los Angeles Times investigation this year.
Some of the HFPA’s problems have been an open secret for years among Hollywood insiders, even as entertainment companies elevated the stature of the Globes as a major awards event and a harbinger of the Oscars, which follow weeks later.
In another blow to the HFPA and the Globes Monday, A-lister Tom Cruise Monday returned his three Globes for “Born on the Fourth of July” and “Jerry Maguire,” according to Variety. That follows criticism of the group by other prominent A-listers, including Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo.
NBC said it wants to give the HFPA time to resolve its problems and hopes it will be possible to broadcast the event in 2023.
“We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform. However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023,” NBC said in the statement.
Asked for comment on NBC’s decision, HFPA board members on Monday released a detailed timetable for the reforms it had promised in a letter last week, culminating with a new board of directors and executive team by early August.
The HFPA statement, which reflected some uncertainty about the 2022 ceremony, expressed a commitment to transformation change.
“Regardless of the next air date of the Golden Globes, implementing transformational changes as quickly – and as thoughtfully – as possible remains the top priority for our organization,” the HFPA board said. “We invite our partners in the industry to the table to work with us on the systemic reform that is long overdue, both in our organization as well as within the industry at large.”

Marvel’s Agent Carter

The first season takes place in 1946, with Peggy Carter having to balance the routine office work she does for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) in New York City with secretly assisting Howard Stark, who finds himself framed for supplying deadly weapons to enemies of the United States. Carter is assisted by Stark’s butler, Edwin Jarvis, to find those responsible and dispose of the weapons.
In the second season, Carter moves from New York City to Los Angeles to deal with the threats of the new Atomic Age by the Secret Empire in the aftermath of World War II, gaining new friends, a new home, and a potential new love interest.
The first season, consisting of eight episodes, originally aired from January 6 to February 24, 2015, while the second season, consisting of 10 episodes, originally aired from January 19 to March 1, 2016. Both seasons aired during mid-season breaks of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Despite a positive critical response, viewership fell, and on May 12, 2016, ABC canceled Agent Carter.

to prevent the spread of covid
0:04:59.360,0:05:02.560
also there were other measures when
0:05:01.440,0:05:05.440
parking your car
0:05:02.560,0:05:07.520
they were parking every other spot and
0:05:05.440,0:05:11.120
every other road to kind of
0:05:07.520,0:05:13.120
keep the cars uh separated
0:05:11.120,0:05:14.560
while people were getting in and out and
0:05:13.120,0:05:17.440
then they were going back in
0:05:14.560,0:05:19.199
and filling up the spots after the the
0:05:17.440,0:05:19.600
row and all of the guests had already
0:05:19.199,0:05:22.639
been
0:05:19.600,0:05:23.840
in so now it seems that on wednesday the
0:05:22.639,0:05:26.479
company website had
0:05:23.840,0:05:28.720
indicated that measures would kind of be
0:05:26.479,0:05:31.440
relaxed in certain spots
0:05:28.720,0:05:32.880
so they said temporary adjustments are
0:05:31.440,0:05:35.759
still in place to promote
0:05:32.880,0:05:37.280
physical distancing while we will reduce
0:05:35.759,0:05:39.759
physical distance
0:05:37.280,0:05:40.880
distancing measures for guests across
0:05:39.759,0:05:45.680
many areas
0:05:40.880,0:05:48.320
with a gradual phased approach six feet
0:05:45.680,0:05:51.840
six feet distancing measures will
0:05:48.320,0:05:53.840
continue in all of our dining locations
0:05:51.840,0:05:56.319
stores and in areas where guests can
0:05:53.840,0:05:57.840
temporarily remove their masks
0:05:56.319,0:05:59.919
one of the things that was interesting
0:05:57.840,0:06:03.680
was one of the websites
0:05:59.919,0:06:05.680
did a screenshot of how
0:06:03.680,0:06:06.960
you know the the policy had changed and
0:06:05.680,0:06:10.000
it was very
0:06:06.960,0:06:11.280
minut changes uh where the one showed
0:06:10.000,0:06:14.000
two people
0:06:11.280,0:06:15.759
with a little line saying six feet now
0:06:14.000,0:06:17.600
it just showed two people but it didn’t
0:06:15.759,0:06:19.680
actually have like a measurement
0:06:17.600,0:06:22.000
so in most cases they’re saying people
0:06:19.680,0:06:25.039
can get a little bit closer
0:06:22.000,0:06:27.360
um but again in certain areas those
0:06:25.039,0:06:28.319
they’re still keeping the six feet apart
0:06:27.360,0:06:31.039
um
0:06:28.319,0:06:31.520
excuse me so again so they still have
0:06:31.039,0:06:34.560
you know
0:06:31.520,0:06:37.759
signage and and ground markings
0:06:34.560,0:06:40.000
um you know to keep guests uh you know
0:06:37.759,0:06:42.880
apart while they’re waiting in line
0:06:40.000,0:06:43.680
uh in certain queue areas they do still
0:06:42.880,0:06:46.639
have
0:06:43.680,0:06:48.000
uh physical barriers uh to separate
0:06:46.639,0:06:51.120
people
0:06:48.000,0:06:52.639
when they’re on transportation vehicles
0:06:51.120,0:06:55.840
or on certain rides
0:06:52.639,0:06:59.199
or breaking up the queue they do have
0:06:55.840,0:07:01.039
a notice about party size that if you’re
0:06:59.199,0:07:02.880
traveling in 10 or more
0:07:01.039,0:07:04.400
you will be asked to split up into
0:07:02.880,0:07:06.880
smaller groups
0:07:04.400,0:07:08.319
for certain things they are asking if
0:07:06.880,0:07:11.520
you’re paying for parking
0:07:08.319,0:07:13.840
to use a cashless pay system
0:07:11.520,0:07:14.560
uh they were talking about how cast
0:07:13.840,0:07:16.479
members
0:07:14.560,0:07:18.319
are going to be trained to engage with
0:07:16.479,0:07:21.759
guests and promote physical distancing
0:07:18.319,0:07:24.880
guidelines and common areas and cues
0:07:21.759,0:07:26.080
and again they’ve already you know been
0:07:24.880,0:07:27.520
doing a lot of this
0:07:26.080,0:07:29.599
one of the things that they stopped
0:07:27.520,0:07:30.400
doing which we briefly mentioned last
0:07:29.599,0:07:34.000
week is as
0:07:30.400,0:07:35.440
of may 8th cast members were no longer
0:07:34.000,0:07:38.080
getting their temperature checks when
0:07:35.440,0:07:41.199
they were reporting to work and as
0:07:38.080,0:07:42.800
of the 16th of may guests are going to
0:07:41.199,0:07:46.080
stop being screened
0:07:42.800,0:07:48.160
before entering any of the parks face
0:07:46.080,0:07:49.280
coverings as of this point are still
0:07:48.160,0:07:51.120
required
0:07:49.280,0:07:52.800
uh you’re only allowed to take them off
0:07:51.120,0:07:55.280
when you’re actively eating
0:07:52.800,0:07:55.840
or drinking or if you’re taking an
0:07:55.280,0:07:59.039
outside
0:07:55.840,0:08:00.800
photo as long as you’re that you remain
0:07:59.039,0:08:02.800
still so if you’re on the move
0:08:00.800,0:08:04.560
you’re still at this point supposed to
0:08:02.800,0:08:06.639
be wearing a mask
0:08:04.560,0:08:09.199
and it seems universal had already made
0:08:06.639,0:08:12.080
some of these similar changes as well
0:08:09.199,0:08:14.479
where they’ve now reduced uh six feet
0:08:12.080,0:08:16.000
distance to the three feet distance
0:08:14.479,0:08:18.639
so i think the problem we’re gonna run
0:08:16.000,0:08:20.080
into at this point is as we gradually
0:08:18.639,0:08:23.520
roll these
0:08:20.080,0:08:25.199
these um guidelines back
0:08:23.520,0:08:27.039
people are gonna get very confused by
0:08:25.199,0:08:28.879
this right you know what are the rules
0:08:27.039,0:08:32.000
this week how far can i be this week
0:08:28.879,0:08:32.880
where can i take my mask off right it’s
0:08:32.000,0:08:34.320
almost
0:08:32.880,0:08:36.719
i think it would almost have been better
0:08:34.320,0:08:38.080
if they had kept full guidelines until
0:08:36.719,0:08:41.360
they could just remove them all
0:08:38.080,0:08:44.320
right right as opposed to going you know
0:08:41.360,0:08:45.200
backwards of okay now you can do this
0:08:44.320,0:08:48.399
yeah like
0:08:45.200,0:08:49.519
we just got used to doing everything one
0:08:48.399,0:08:51.519
way
0:08:49.519,0:08:53.279
why not just kind of right and how do
0:08:51.519,0:08:57.519
you convey this in a way
0:08:53.279,0:08:59.440
that’s understandable to people
0:08:57.519,0:09:01.360
especially when you’re like you know
0:08:59.440,0:09:03.200
they took one step last week with
0:09:01.360,0:09:05.120
temperature check now they’re taking a
0:09:03.200,0:09:06.480
set of different checks here they’re not
0:09:05.120,0:09:07.440
doing away with stuff they’re just
0:09:06.480,0:09:09.519
changing right
0:09:07.440,0:09:10.480
and that’s the thing is like i said when
0:09:09.519,0:09:14.160
you look at
0:09:10.480,0:09:17.279
the two screenshots that that various
0:09:14.160,0:09:18.480
uh websites have posted of what it was
0:09:17.279,0:09:22.080
and what it is
0:09:18.480,0:09:24.320
it’s really kind of hard to see where
0:09:22.080,0:09:26.160
where the difference lies because if
0:09:24.320,0:09:28.080
you’re still splitting up your group of
0:09:26.160,0:09:30.000
10 or more you still can’t all sit
0:09:28.080,0:09:32.080
together at a restaurant
0:09:30.000,0:09:34.320
and you’re still separating everybody
0:09:32.080,0:09:36.000
six feet in a restaurant
0:09:34.320,0:09:37.839
what difference does it make if you’re
0:09:36.000,0:09:41.279
on a ride right like
0:09:37.839,0:09:43.680
how is that you’re mixing right your
0:09:41.279,0:09:44.560
uh standards here you know if it’s three
0:09:43.680,0:09:46.640
feet
0:09:44.560,0:09:47.600
if three feet’s okay in one instance why
0:09:46.640,0:09:51.360
isn’t it okay in all
0:09:47.600,0:09:52.880
instances right um it’s just i don’t i
0:09:51.360,0:09:53.839
don’t think this is gonna work out too
0:09:52.880,0:09:55.440
well and hopefully
0:09:53.839,0:09:57.440
we’ll be able to pull the plug on all
0:09:55.440,0:10:00.320
this stuff everything soon right
0:09:57.440,0:10:02.640
um but good thing we’re not going to
0:10:00.320,0:10:05.360
disney anytime soon exactly
0:10:02.640,0:10:06.240
so as you know kind of a another sign
0:10:05.360,0:10:08.800
that things are
0:10:06.240,0:10:11.440
changing and getting better we we’re
0:10:08.800,0:10:15.279
getting some shows back right right so
0:10:11.440,0:10:18.480
so this was a a nice uh surprise because
0:10:15.279,0:10:21.680
obviously when everything shut down and
0:10:18.480,0:10:24.480
and things started to open back up a lot
0:10:21.680,0:10:26.720
of the live entertainment was
0:10:24.480,0:10:28.079
they were one of the first ones that
0:10:26.720,0:10:31.360
were hurt by it all
0:10:28.079,0:10:33.440
that couldn’t come back because they had
0:10:31.360,0:10:34.480
no idea how to do any of the the live
0:10:33.440,0:10:37.279
stage shows
0:10:34.480,0:10:38.480
uh so it seems that they’re trying this
0:10:37.279,0:10:41.440
out to see how
0:10:38.480,0:10:42.480
how it goes so it’s actually a
0:10:41.440,0:10:45.200
celebration
0:10:42.480,0:10:47.120
of the festival of the lion king so it’s
0:10:45.200,0:10:49.839
actually a modified version
0:10:47.120,0:10:50.240
of the festival of the lion king show
0:10:49.839,0:10:53.120
that
0:10:50.240,0:10:54.000
is performed at disney’s animal kingdom
0:10:53.120,0:10:56.079
um
0:10:54.000,0:10:58.640
and so what they’re doing to accommodate
0:10:56.079,0:11:00.160
the covid 19 restrictions is the
0:10:58.640,0:11:03.200
theater’s capacity
0:11:00.160,0:11:06.399
has been greatly reduced to accommodate
0:11:03.200,0:11:09.440
one third of its actual capacity so
0:11:06.399,0:11:10.800
you have to leave empty rows between
0:11:09.440,0:11:13.600
different groups
0:11:10.800,0:11:14.000
parties are seated in groups of four so
0:11:13.600,0:11:16.560
if you
0:11:14.000,0:11:17.200
have a group of four or or more than
0:11:16.560,0:11:18.959
four
0:11:17.200,0:11:22.079
you’re going to be split up so that this
0:11:18.959,0:11:24.880
way they’re making sure everybody has
0:11:22.079,0:11:25.920
you know some distance there’s no
0:11:24.880,0:11:29.120
virtual cue
0:11:25.920,0:11:30.720
or fast pass in the operation so there’s
0:11:29.120,0:11:32.880
just a standby line
0:11:30.720,0:11:34.079
and they basically have it where it
0:11:32.880,0:11:37.200
snakes throughout
0:11:34.079,0:11:37.920
africa uh a bridge over to pandora and
0:11:37.200,0:11:40.640
then kind of
0:11:37.920,0:11:42.079
back to africa so you’re kind of spread
0:11:40.640,0:11:44.800
and that’s one of the things
0:11:42.079,0:11:46.079
you’ve seen numerous times is the queue
0:11:44.800,0:11:48.399
lines look really
0:11:46.079,0:11:50.480
huge for a lot of these things when
0:11:48.399,0:11:51.839
really it’s not it’s just because they
0:11:50.480,0:11:54.160
have to space
0:11:51.839,0:11:55.360
everybody out and it’s you know where do
0:11:54.160,0:11:58.399
we go now
0:11:55.360,0:12:00.079
um so the show itself uh
0:11:58.399,0:12:02.240
being a little bit modified it’s only
0:12:00.079,0:12:05.360
about five minutes shorter
0:12:02.240,0:12:08.000
uh because of it um they did
0:12:05.360,0:12:08.720
uh one of the air uh one of the acts
0:12:08.000,0:12:11.760
used to be
0:12:08.720,0:12:14.000
tumble monkeys and another were
0:12:11.760,0:12:15.839
was a flying bird segment so those have
0:12:14.000,0:12:19.040
been cut as of right now
0:12:15.839,0:12:21.200
but they’re hoping that as things
0:12:19.040,0:12:23.440
get a little bit better they’re able to
0:12:21.200,0:12:24.079
bring those aspects of the show back as
0:12:23.440,0:12:27.440
well
0:12:24.079,0:12:30.480
also another aspect of the show is uh
0:12:27.440,0:12:33.279
guest participation that’s been only
0:12:30.480,0:12:34.720
uh eliminated as well so they used to at
0:12:33.279,0:12:36.839
the end of the show kind of
0:12:34.720,0:12:38.240
get the kids all to come and do a little
0:12:36.839,0:12:41.120
parade um
0:12:38.240,0:12:42.320
around the the theater that obviously
0:12:41.120,0:12:44.959
isn’t going on
0:12:42.320,0:12:46.560
um so right now the show is doing
0:12:44.959,0:12:49.519
unannounced previews
0:12:46.560,0:12:50.839
but it’s officially going to debut on
0:12:49.519,0:12:53.360
may 15th
0:12:50.839,0:12:55.040
so you know here’s at least the first
0:12:53.360,0:12:57.440
show that’s coming back so
0:12:55.040,0:12:58.959
hopefully you know more will be coming
0:12:57.440,0:13:01.120
back and the other thing too is
0:12:58.959,0:13:02.000
they’ve modified the show so that this
0:13:01.120,0:13:05.600
way they can
0:13:02.000,0:13:07.920
spread out uh the guests as well as the
0:13:05.600,0:13:09.519
cast members the actors that are in the
0:13:07.920,0:13:10.240
show as well so that this way they’re
0:13:09.519,0:13:12.639
not
0:13:10.240,0:13:14.480
right on top of each other either so so
0:13:12.639,0:13:17.760
now what rules apply here
0:13:14.480,0:13:18.880
uh under the circumstances of it being
0:13:17.760,0:13:20.480
the show
0:13:18.880,0:13:22.720
are you six feet apart are you three
0:13:20.480,0:13:24.720
feet apart well they have everybody
0:13:22.720,0:13:26.720
you know you can see from from the video
0:13:24.720,0:13:29.680
here this was a video of the show
0:13:26.720,0:13:31.920
everybody’s kind of you know spread out
0:13:29.680,0:13:34.880
in some cases more than six feet
0:13:31.920,0:13:35.839
um you know in in most cases so they’re
0:13:34.880,0:13:38.639
leaving you know
0:13:35.839,0:13:40.160
rows in front rows behind you and then
0:13:38.639,0:13:42.639
leaving so much room
0:13:40.160,0:13:44.399
in between the row and even if you know
0:13:42.639,0:13:45.600
i’m guessing maybe the people that are
0:13:44.399,0:13:47.440
a little close to each other are
0:13:45.600,0:13:48.240
probably people that are within the same
0:13:47.440,0:13:51.839
party
0:13:48.240,0:13:54.320
so they probably you know group them um
0:13:51.839,0:13:56.079
you know together so all right you know
0:13:54.320,0:13:57.680
it’s a step in the right direction right
0:13:56.079,0:13:59.279
and again you have to wear your mask
0:13:57.680,0:14:01.839
even though you’re
0:13:59.279,0:14:02.800
at the theater and and you’re not moving
0:14:01.839,0:14:05.839
you still have to
0:14:02.800,0:14:07.360
wear the mask so so you had a choice of
0:14:05.839,0:14:08.720
what show you’d want to bring back next
0:14:07.360,0:14:12.240
what would it be
0:14:08.720,0:14:14.560
fantasmic see i don’t know
0:14:12.240,0:14:15.440
why they don’t do that now because you
0:14:14.560,0:14:17.199
can spread out
0:14:15.440,0:14:18.720
pretty well in fantastic if you don’t
0:14:17.199,0:14:20.399
pack everybody in like they use well and
0:14:18.720,0:14:23.839
that’s the thing is unfortunately
0:14:20.399,0:14:25.600
they they always you know pack everybody
0:14:23.839,0:14:26.720
and well technically this is kind of
0:14:25.600,0:14:30.320
it’s not really indoor
0:14:26.720,0:14:31.920
it’s just kind of covered um
0:14:30.320,0:14:33.920
you know the beauty and the beast show
0:14:31.920,0:14:35.519
would be nice too
0:14:33.920,0:14:37.279
and and that’s the thing is a lot of
0:14:35.519,0:14:41.120
them they have very
0:14:37.279,0:14:42.160
large theaters and really besides
0:14:41.120,0:14:44.320
fantasmic
0:14:42.160,0:14:45.519
most of the shows depending on what time
0:14:44.320,0:14:49.920
of year you’re going
0:14:45.519,0:14:53.120
don’t get fully packed so you could
0:14:49.920,0:14:54.800
space people out uh you know a little
0:14:53.120,0:14:57.040
bit more
0:14:54.800,0:14:58.000
fantasmics one because they usually only
0:14:57.040,0:15:00.639
do it once or twice
0:14:58.000,0:15:01.600
a night that’s where you get standing
0:15:00.639,0:15:03.680
room only
0:15:01.600,0:15:05.360
so you just you limit your capacity well
0:15:03.680,0:15:07.279
yeah and that’s what you have to do
0:15:05.360,0:15:08.639
yeah if it’s for public safety right
0:15:07.279,0:15:11.040
absolutely so
0:15:08.639,0:15:12.320
all right so that’s all we have for our
0:15:11.040,0:15:14.399
disney detective
0:15:12.320,0:15:16.240
we’ll be right back with our tales from

[Applause]
0:16:32.800,0:16:36.639
i need to make that intro shorter it’s
0:16:34.720,0:16:38.720
too long okay
0:16:36.639,0:16:39.680
anyway go for tails from the edge of the
0:16:38.720,0:16:41.839
galaxy
0:16:39.680,0:16:43.920
so this was something uh that you
0:16:41.839,0:16:46.320
actually had sent over to me
0:16:43.920,0:16:47.360
um it was news that star wars
0:16:46.320,0:16:51.040
celebration
0:16:47.360,0:16:51.920
anaheim 2022 was actually changing their
0:16:51.040,0:16:54.079
dates
0:16:51.920,0:16:56.079
uh so they had released today that the
0:16:54.079,0:16:58.800
dates of star wars celebration
0:16:56.079,0:17:00.800
are actually moving up originally they
0:16:58.800,0:17:01.920
were going to be august 18th through the
0:17:00.800,0:17:04.959
21st
0:17:01.920,0:17:08.319
and now they’re going to be may 26
0:17:04.959,0:17:09.679
through the 29th so in their press
0:17:08.319,0:17:11.679
release they said we can’t wait to
0:17:09.679,0:17:13.520
welcome fans back safely
0:17:11.679,0:17:15.439
current ticket holders that wish to keep
0:17:13.520,0:17:16.000
their existing tickets will have their
0:17:15.439,0:17:18.240
orders
0:17:16.000,0:17:19.679
automatically transferred to the new
0:17:18.240,0:17:21.280
dates and will receive a new
0:17:19.679,0:17:24.240
confirmation email
0:17:21.280,0:17:25.439
and if fans want to keep their ticket no
0:17:24.240,0:17:27.919
further action
0:17:25.439,0:17:29.600
is needed if you already had your ticket
0:17:27.919,0:17:32.240
and wanted a refund
0:17:29.600,0:17:33.440
you need to do it before june 11th of
0:17:32.240,0:17:37.200
this year
0:17:33.440,0:17:38.720
um so no word on when you can start
0:17:37.200,0:17:41.120
buying tickets
0:17:38.720,0:17:43.520
for it i’m you know obviously everybody
0:17:41.120,0:17:46.240
that had tickets already
0:17:43.520,0:17:47.039
are kind of already in the queue i guess
0:17:46.240,0:17:49.280
so
0:17:47.039,0:17:51.280
we were actually thinking about going to
0:17:49.280,0:17:54.080
it and now we’re not sure
0:17:51.280,0:17:55.200
so we’ll kind of wait and see we’re
0:17:54.080,0:17:57.120
pretty sure we’re not going
0:17:55.200,0:17:58.400
that we’re not going now well i don’t
0:17:57.120,0:18:02.000
think i’m going to be comfortable
0:17:58.400,0:18:04.559
flying at this point by next year so
0:18:02.000,0:18:05.039
okay yeah well and we’re not driving
0:18:04.559,0:18:07.440
right
0:18:05.039,0:18:09.200
because that’s a really long drive 3 500
0:18:07.440,0:18:12.000
miles yeah
0:18:09.200,0:18:13.520
yeah but hopefully you know there’ll be
0:18:12.000,0:18:15.600
we’ll wait for celebration to come back
0:18:13.520,0:18:18.640
to work to orlando and do that
0:18:15.600,0:18:21.280
but hey if it was a d23 convention
0:18:18.640,0:18:22.240
you’d be flying out yeah so that we’re
0:18:21.280,0:18:25.600
still not sure about
0:18:22.240,0:18:28.080
well see you exactly
0:18:25.600,0:18:29.360
one day i’ll make it to one um so yeah
0:18:28.080,0:18:31.760
so some good news for
0:18:29.360,0:18:33.360
people looking forward to star wars
0:18:31.760,0:18:33.760
selling did they say why they moved it
0:18:33.360,0:18:35.919
up
0:18:33.760,0:18:37.280
no there was another scheduling conflict
0:18:35.919,0:18:39.760
or something because usually
0:18:37.280,0:18:41.280
you know if anything you move it back
0:18:39.760,0:18:43.600
under the current conditions
0:18:41.280,0:18:45.120
it’s just seemed odd maybe it was i
0:18:43.600,0:18:45.760
don’t know convention center wasn’t
0:18:45.120,0:18:49.440
available
0:18:45.760,0:18:53.120
who knows anyway tell us about our
0:18:49.440,0:18:56.400
favorite uh mandalorian actress
0:18:53.120,0:18:58.720
yeah so it seems that despite lucas
0:18:56.400,0:19:01.120
um you know lucasfilm stating that they
0:18:58.720,0:19:04.320
would no longer work with her
0:19:01.120,0:19:07.679
it had uh it they included her
0:19:04.320,0:19:11.039
in their emmy four-year consideration
0:19:07.679,0:19:11.679
awards push for the mandalorian so on
0:19:11.039,0:19:14.480
sunday
0:19:11.679,0:19:16.160
a poster surfaced from disney which owns
0:19:14.480,0:19:17.039
the star wars production company
0:19:16.160,0:19:20.240
promoting
0:19:17.039,0:19:24.240
cast members including pedro pascal and
0:19:20.240,0:19:26.640
giancarlo esposito for awards contention
0:19:24.240,0:19:29.120
uh carano is listed under the best
0:19:26.640,0:19:33.280
supporting actress category
0:19:29.120,0:19:35.600
obviously in february we had the whole
0:19:33.280,0:19:36.640
backfiring of everything where she had
0:19:35.600,0:19:40.480
posted
0:19:36.640,0:19:43.360
a now deleted uh post on instagram
0:19:40.480,0:19:44.080
that ended up you know getting her fired
0:19:43.360,0:19:47.280
um
0:19:44.080,0:19:48.480
but again it was kind of funny that with
0:19:47.280,0:19:51.600
all of this
0:19:48.480,0:19:52.000
she’s listed as you know one of the
0:19:51.600,0:19:55.039
people
0:19:52.000,0:19:57.120
in contention you know for hey for your
0:19:55.039,0:20:00.160
consideration
0:19:57.120,0:20:01.760
nominate funny how she’s the only
0:20:00.160,0:20:04.159
supporting actress nominated
0:20:01.760,0:20:05.200
right well because the other thing too
0:20:04.159,0:20:07.840
is in
0:20:05.200,0:20:09.200
most cases everybody else was a guest
0:20:07.840,0:20:11.120
actor
0:20:09.200,0:20:12.559
that was only in she didn’t appear in
0:20:11.120,0:20:14.000
that many episodes though
0:20:12.559,0:20:16.559
right but everybody else pretty much
0:20:14.000,0:20:19.039
only appeared in like one or two
0:20:16.559,0:20:20.400
she uh i i guess there has to be there’s
0:20:19.039,0:20:23.280
probably something where
0:20:20.400,0:20:24.080
how much screen time you have i would
0:20:23.280,0:20:25.679
have thought ming
0:20:24.080,0:20:28.000
way would have been in there as well
0:20:25.679,0:20:30.240
yeah yeah i’m kind of surprised that she
0:20:28.000,0:20:31.120
well she is she’s guessed she’s as a
0:20:30.240,0:20:34.400
guest actor
0:20:31.120,0:20:38.400
yeah so i i don’t know what
0:20:34.400,0:20:42.000
you know what the um
0:20:38.400,0:20:45.440
uh you know guidelines are for
0:20:42.000,0:20:46.720
you know what makes you just a
0:20:45.440,0:20:50.000
supporting actor
0:20:46.720,0:20:52.559
or what makes you a guest right
0:20:50.000,0:20:53.440
you know star because really you know
0:20:52.559,0:20:56.960
mark hamill
0:20:53.440,0:20:57.919
was listed he technically he didn’t even
0:20:56.960,0:20:59.919
actually appear
0:20:57.919,0:21:01.360
on screen so i don’t know how right so
0:20:59.919,0:21:03.360
it’s kind of
0:21:01.360,0:21:04.400
yeah like do you just kind of have
0:21:03.360,0:21:06.400
hamel’s likeness
0:21:04.400,0:21:07.760
well and it’s almost like it’s a list of
0:21:06.400,0:21:08.480
this is everybody that was in this
0:21:07.760,0:21:11.520
season
0:21:08.480,0:21:12.960
right nominate somebody please like that
0:21:11.520,0:21:15.679
it’s kind of yeah
0:21:12.960,0:21:17.120
so we’ll say you know uh the emmy awards
0:21:15.679,0:21:20.240
are scheduled to take place
0:21:17.120,0:21:23.200
september of this year so we’ll see
0:21:20.240,0:21:24.640
who actually gets gets the nominations
0:21:23.200,0:21:28.000
so on a side note
0:21:24.640,0:21:31.039
related but not related okay
0:21:28.000,0:21:34.080
uh they had decided um national
0:21:31.039,0:21:37.520
geographic decided to air the episode of
0:21:34.080,0:21:40.480
running wise which we knew with
0:21:37.520,0:21:42.559
gina carano in it and i have to say
0:21:40.480,0:21:44.320
after watching it i have a very
0:21:42.559,0:21:47.360
different opinion of
0:21:44.320,0:21:50.480
of her now okay um she
0:21:47.360,0:21:50.960
does not like so the controversy that
0:21:50.480,0:21:54.000
that
0:21:50.960,0:21:57.600
kind of got her in bed standing with
0:21:54.000,0:22:00.720
disney was about her social media posts
0:21:57.600,0:22:03.039
and she had some let’s call them
0:22:00.720,0:22:05.360
obtuse statements or insensitive
0:22:03.039,0:22:08.640
statements
0:22:05.360,0:22:11.600
which gives you a certain impression
0:22:08.640,0:22:12.000
of of the attitude she might have
0:22:11.600,0:22:15.039
towards
0:22:12.000,0:22:16.799
other people and
0:22:15.039,0:22:18.400
she came across very different on the
0:22:16.799,0:22:20.640
show itself and that the one
0:22:18.400,0:22:22.480
the one thing that that’s i like about
0:22:20.640,0:22:25.200
the show is
0:22:22.480,0:22:27.520
as much as a lot of the adventure stuff
0:22:25.200,0:22:29.200
they do is staged
0:22:27.520,0:22:31.600
one of the things that they do is they
0:22:29.200,0:22:35.280
interview the person who’s
0:22:31.600,0:22:39.120
participating with bear grylls okay and
0:22:35.280,0:22:42.080
you’re being interviewed under duress
0:22:39.120,0:22:44.159
so you’re you’re there confronting
0:22:42.080,0:22:47.520
things that are
0:22:44.159,0:22:49.120
terrifying to you you’re being put in a
0:22:47.520,0:22:52.000
very uncomfortable position
0:22:49.120,0:22:52.400
sometimes literally very uncomfortable
0:22:52.000,0:22:56.720
you’re
0:22:52.400,0:22:59.440
being forced to face your fears and
0:22:56.720,0:23:01.760
you the real you comes out under those
0:22:59.440,0:23:05.520
stressful circumstances
0:23:01.760,0:23:08.880
and she came across as
0:23:05.520,0:23:11.679
a very sensitive very vulnerable
0:23:08.880,0:23:12.720
individual and you can tell that it was
0:23:11.679,0:23:15.200
real
0:23:12.720,0:23:16.640
because there you know she’s conveying
0:23:15.200,0:23:19.520
stories
0:23:16.640,0:23:20.400
uh like one story she conveys in the
0:23:19.520,0:23:23.760
episode
0:23:20.400,0:23:27.120
is um about her sister bear asks
0:23:23.760,0:23:28.880
about her sister and her sister had a
0:23:27.120,0:23:30.720
addiction problem and they didn’t go
0:23:28.880,0:23:31.039
into real details about it but she was
0:23:30.720,0:23:32.960
in
0:23:31.039,0:23:34.400
pretty bad shape and they thought that
0:23:32.960,0:23:36.080
you know she was
0:23:34.400,0:23:38.240
probably gonna wind up killing herself
0:23:36.080,0:23:41.120
as a as a part of that
0:23:38.240,0:23:42.480
and they talked about how almost like an
0:23:41.120,0:23:45.200
intervention they
0:23:42.480,0:23:45.919
she helped her sister out and then her
0:23:45.200,0:23:48.240
sister
0:23:45.919,0:23:49.520
had her first child and it saved her
0:23:48.240,0:23:53.600
life
0:23:49.520,0:23:54.559
and to see that that sensitivity come
0:23:53.600,0:23:58.080
out
0:23:54.559,0:24:02.400
and that vulnerability come out
0:23:58.080,0:24:02.400
under very honest circumstances
0:24:03.039,0:24:06.400
gave me a very different impression of
0:24:05.279,0:24:09.760
her
0:24:06.400,0:24:12.320
um where i think
0:24:09.760,0:24:14.720
the controversy that came out of her
0:24:12.320,0:24:16.640
social media stuff
0:24:14.720,0:24:18.640
probably wasn’t an accurate reflection
0:24:16.640,0:24:20.799
of who she is
0:24:18.640,0:24:24.080
it may have been external influence it
0:24:20.799,0:24:26.799
may have been any number of things
0:24:24.080,0:24:28.640
but seeing her on the show you know
0:24:26.799,0:24:30.880
running wild
0:24:28.640,0:24:32.640
really gave me a different appreciation
0:24:30.880,0:24:36.320
for the type of person that she
0:24:32.640,0:24:37.600
is um and i i i
0:24:36.320,0:24:39.520
came across where i have a lot more
0:24:37.600,0:24:41.360
respect for her now
0:24:39.520,0:24:42.880
um anybody that goes through the stuff
0:24:41.360,0:24:44.000
that on that show that they do i have a
0:24:42.880,0:24:47.279
lot of respect for
0:24:44.000,0:24:50.159
right um but
0:24:47.279,0:24:52.080
she i don’t look at her in the same
0:24:50.159,0:24:55.440
negative way as i did
0:24:52.080,0:24:56.880
prior to that show so i think from an
0:24:55.440,0:24:59.919
image standpoint
0:24:56.880,0:25:00.400
it was an excellent idea to get that out
0:24:59.919,0:25:02.480
there
0:25:00.400,0:25:04.480
and to let people see a little bit about
0:25:02.480,0:25:06.559
who she really is
0:25:04.480,0:25:09.120
and just to get a glimpse of that that
0:25:06.559,0:25:12.320
inside personality that she has
0:25:09.120,0:25:14.080
so because she talks in the show about
0:25:12.320,0:25:16.159
being cast in these
0:25:14.080,0:25:18.240
strong leading roles all the time and
0:25:16.159,0:25:19.440
she’s this strong tough person and in
0:25:18.240,0:25:22.640
reality she’s not
0:25:19.440,0:25:24.159
you know she personally she has all
0:25:22.640,0:25:27.120
these insecurities and
0:25:24.159,0:25:28.799
and you know self-image problems and and
0:25:27.120,0:25:32.159
all this other stuff
0:25:28.799,0:25:33.760
and it really humanized her so if you
0:25:32.159,0:25:35.279
haven’t watched the show yet i think
0:25:33.760,0:25:36.799
it’s worth even if you’re not into
0:25:35.279,0:25:38.400
watching the adventure shows and stuff
0:25:36.799,0:25:40.559
like that
0:25:38.400,0:25:43.039
it’s worth watching to kind of get a
0:25:40.559,0:25:45.440
glimpse of what the real gina carano is
0:25:43.039,0:25:47.200
to watch that show well and maybe that
0:25:45.440,0:25:50.400
was kind of
0:25:47.200,0:25:52.880
since they allowed it to air maybe
0:25:50.400,0:25:53.760
that was almost some of their pr
0:25:52.880,0:25:56.480
cleaning up
0:25:53.760,0:25:58.080
absolutely you know i would i would not
0:25:56.480,0:26:00.320
put that past disney
0:25:58.080,0:26:02.320
you know to say well because maybe some
0:26:00.320,0:26:04.159
of those other rumors that
0:26:02.320,0:26:06.480
you know we talked about in previous
0:26:04.159,0:26:07.840
weeks about oh she might still be coming
0:26:06.480,0:26:10.559
back maybe they’re
0:26:07.840,0:26:11.279
trying to save face and whatever maybe
0:26:10.559,0:26:13.039
that
0:26:11.279,0:26:15.679
well and disney’s the type of
0:26:13.039,0:26:17.200
organization that’s very calculating
0:26:15.679,0:26:19.200
they’re going to put something like that
0:26:17.200,0:26:20.880
show out right then they’re going to see
0:26:19.200,0:26:23.760
what the fan reaction is
0:26:20.880,0:26:24.880
and that the fan reaction by airing out
0:26:23.760,0:26:27.360
our dirty laundry
0:26:24.880,0:26:28.240
is positive then we’ll see what the next
0:26:27.360,0:26:29.679
step is to
0:26:28.240,0:26:31.679
to bring her back into the phone and
0:26:29.679,0:26:33.440
maybe that it’s a great
0:26:31.679,0:26:35.200
character that she portrays she does a
0:26:33.440,0:26:36.640
fantastic job doing it
0:26:35.200,0:26:38.400
i’d love to see the character in the
0:26:36.640,0:26:40.000
show more
0:26:38.400,0:26:41.760
i just wish she would play by the rules
0:26:40.000,0:26:46.159
of of disney in order to do that
0:26:41.760,0:26:48.320
yeah so that was all we had for our
0:26:46.159,0:26:49.760

0:26:48.320,0:26:53.840

dude stealing my thunder go for
0:28:10.720,0:28:15.039
entertainment
0:28:12.240,0:28:16.559
so james gunn says that guardians of the
0:28:15.039,0:28:19.600
galaxy 3
0:28:16.559,0:28:21.360
might be the end of the story so james
0:28:19.600,0:28:23.679
gunn loves to interact with fans on
0:28:21.360,0:28:25.520
social media and when somebody asked him
0:28:23.679,0:28:27.200
about potentially working on a fourth
0:28:25.520,0:28:29.120
guardians of the galaxy movie
0:28:27.200,0:28:30.720
he was incredibly candid about the
0:28:29.120,0:28:33.440
franchise’s future
0:28:30.720,0:28:34.559
he said that you know although he’s open
0:28:33.440,0:28:37.200
to anything
0:28:34.559,0:28:39.520
guardians of the galaxy vol 3 was kind
0:28:37.200,0:28:40.720
of the bookend to the story that started
0:28:39.520,0:28:44.000
the first movie
0:28:40.720,0:28:46.159
he said me never say never but i
0:28:44.000,0:28:47.360
see volume three as the end of the
0:28:46.159,0:28:49.360
guardian story
0:28:47.360,0:28:50.640
that i started telling back in volume
0:28:49.360,0:28:53.200
one um
0:28:50.640,0:28:54.320
as you had mentioned about dave bautista
0:28:53.200,0:28:58.399
gunn’s post
0:28:54.320,0:29:00.159
also came as dave bautista has suggested
0:28:58.399,0:29:03.279
that his contract was going to be
0:29:00.159,0:29:05.520
up at the end of filming of galaxy 3 and
0:29:03.279,0:29:06.799
that he insisted again that drax could
0:29:05.520,0:29:10.000
still live on
0:29:06.799,0:29:11.679
but in with another actor but then gunn
0:29:10.000,0:29:12.000
kind of wrote back and said that he
0:29:11.679,0:29:15.440
really
0:29:12.000,0:29:19.600
only sees batista in that role uh so
0:29:15.440,0:29:21.520
will guardians 3 be the final movie um
0:29:19.600,0:29:23.120
we you know i guess we’ll we’ll have to
0:29:21.520,0:29:26.159
kind of wait and see
0:29:23.120,0:29:28.320
what happens obviously the movie
0:29:26.159,0:29:29.760
was very successful it was a welcome
0:29:28.320,0:29:33.039
sign for marvel
0:29:29.760,0:29:33.600
because it gave you know people a chance
0:29:33.039,0:29:36.720
to see
0:29:33.600,0:29:39.039
lesser known heroes and
0:29:36.720,0:29:40.640
you know in a different type of marvel
0:29:39.039,0:29:43.440
movie than we’ve been
0:29:40.640,0:29:45.039
you know seeing over the past years and
0:29:43.440,0:29:47.760
you know then they even got
0:29:45.039,0:29:49.360
you know disney transformed the twilight
0:29:47.760,0:29:51.520
zone tower of terror
0:29:49.360,0:29:52.559
in disneyland into the guardians of the
0:29:51.520,0:29:55.120
galaxy
0:29:52.559,0:29:57.279
mission breakout ride and there’s also
0:29:55.120,0:30:00.960
another guardians of the galaxy ride
0:29:57.279,0:30:03.440
that’s coming to epcot i’m
0:30:00.960,0:30:04.399
guessing probably next year because of
0:30:03.440,0:30:07.200
all the the
0:30:04.399,0:30:09.279
delays and whatnot but then again as you
0:30:07.200,0:30:10.880
were mentioning batista had said
0:30:09.279,0:30:12.399
that you know he’s been with the
0:30:10.880,0:30:14.480
franchise from the start
0:30:12.399,0:30:16.480
by the time volume three is going to be
0:30:14.480,0:30:17.520
released he’s actually going to be 54
0:30:16.480,0:30:19.279
years old
0:30:17.520,0:30:21.600
and he said that he’s ready to kind of
0:30:19.279,0:30:23.679
hand it over to somebody else so maybe
0:30:21.600,0:30:24.640
that’s where the whole time was hey you
0:30:23.679,0:30:28.080
could still
0:30:24.640,0:30:30.480
do a story with drax just have you know
0:30:28.080,0:30:31.360
somebody else do it so i guess we have
0:30:30.480,0:30:33.760
to kind of
0:30:31.360,0:30:35.679
wait and see i believe guardians doesn’t
0:30:33.760,0:30:38.960
come out until next year
0:30:35.679,0:30:42.240
i think is what the the the marvel uh
0:30:38.960,0:30:43.919
trailer had it before so we’ll have to
0:30:42.240,0:30:46.240
you know wait and see so maybe it is
0:30:43.919,0:30:47.840
maybe they just do guardians as a
0:30:46.240,0:30:50.320
trilogy or if they
0:30:47.840,0:30:51.760
you know do another version maybe it’s a
0:30:50.320,0:30:54.720
different group of
0:30:51.760,0:30:55.440
of characters yeah and i and i have to
0:30:54.720,0:30:58.240
confess
0:30:55.440,0:30:59.360
i was not a big guardians fan of the
0:30:58.240,0:31:01.120
comics
0:30:59.360,0:31:02.720
so i don’t know what direction they ever
0:31:01.120,0:31:03.360
went in the comics itself it was always
0:31:02.720,0:31:06.240
kind of a
0:31:03.360,0:31:08.080
fringe comic you know it wasn’t one of
0:31:06.240,0:31:09.679
the mainstream so it’s
0:31:08.080,0:31:11.760
it kind of shocked me and shocked a lot
0:31:09.679,0:31:14.080
of other people that that disney turned
0:31:11.760,0:31:15.679
it into such a big franchise
0:31:14.080,0:31:17.919
because i’ll be honest when we when we
0:31:15.679,0:31:19.200
saw the first guardians of the galaxy
0:31:17.919,0:31:21.200
and everyone said oh yeah they’re going
0:31:19.200,0:31:23.519
to be folding this into
0:31:21.200,0:31:24.640
the avengers marvel cinematic universe
0:31:23.519,0:31:26.720
and i’m thinking
0:31:24.640,0:31:28.080
how are you going to do that like it
0:31:26.720,0:31:31.440
like did not even make
0:31:28.080,0:31:34.240
sense right but they did and they did
0:31:31.440,0:31:35.120
and it worked yeah you know um i don’t
0:31:34.240,0:31:37.360
know where you’re going
0:31:35.120,0:31:38.240
in the third movie though right after
0:31:37.360,0:31:40.640
fighting
0:31:38.240,0:31:43.840
a celestial right what do you fight now
0:31:40.640,0:31:46.000
you’ve worn celestial you fought a titan
0:31:43.840,0:31:48.399
what’s next god is it guardians of the
0:31:46.000,0:31:52.399
galaxy versus god now who knows
0:31:48.399,0:31:55.600
who knows okay so
0:31:52.399,0:31:58.640
golden globe news yeah so this
0:31:55.600,0:32:00.240
came out uh earlier it was actually on
0:31:58.640,0:32:02.320
monday so it seems
0:32:00.240,0:32:04.000
there’s been some growing hollywood
0:32:02.320,0:32:05.919
pushback against
0:32:04.000,0:32:08.399
you know the scandal-plagued hollywood
0:32:05.919,0:32:11.200
foreign press association
0:32:08.399,0:32:11.760
and the avalanche of it all on monday
0:32:11.200,0:32:14.000
came as
0:32:11.760,0:32:15.279
nbc announced that it would not
0:32:14.000,0:32:19.200
broadcast
0:32:15.279,0:32:21.360
the golden globes award ceremony in 2022
0:32:19.200,0:32:22.640
so the network’s decision comes after
0:32:21.360,0:32:24.960
there was an array of
0:32:22.640,0:32:26.240
top flight film and tv companies
0:32:24.960,0:32:29.679
including netflix
0:32:26.240,0:32:30.640
amazon warner media who have all been
0:32:29.679,0:32:32.720
distancing
0:32:30.640,0:32:35.200
themselves from the hollywood foreign
0:32:32.720,0:32:37.039
press and the globes in recent days
0:32:35.200,0:32:39.200
so the hollywood forum press has not
0:32:37.039,0:32:40.080
said whether it’ll try to hold the
0:32:39.200,0:32:42.480
globe’s
0:32:40.080,0:32:43.519
you know ceremony next year so they
0:32:42.480,0:32:45.919
haven’t even
0:32:43.519,0:32:47.440
mentioned anything yet so it seems the
0:32:45.919,0:32:49.840
87
0:32:47.440,0:32:52.080
member group is made up of critics of
0:32:49.840,0:32:52.720
overseas media outlets and has been
0:32:52.080,0:32:56.320
engulfed
0:32:52.720,0:32:57.120
in by issues ranging from preferential
0:32:56.320,0:33:00.720
treatment
0:32:57.120,0:33:03.279
sought by its members to lack of racial
0:33:00.720,0:33:03.919
representation in its ranks which
0:33:03.279,0:33:06.000
includes
0:33:03.919,0:33:07.360
no black members according to the los
0:33:06.000,0:33:09.919
angeles times
0:33:07.360,0:33:10.799
investigation last year so some of the
0:33:09.919,0:33:12.799
problems
0:33:10.799,0:33:14.480
you know have kind of been an open
0:33:12.799,0:33:18.000
secret for year
0:33:14.480,0:33:20.399
for years among hollywood insiders but
0:33:18.000,0:33:22.720
everybody’s kind of just looked past it
0:33:20.399,0:33:26.240
and just kind of gone on with it
0:33:22.720,0:33:29.919
another blow to not only all of this
0:33:26.240,0:33:33.200
is that um as of monday
0:33:29.919,0:33:34.640
tom cruise has now returned three of his
0:33:33.200,0:33:36.960
golden globes
0:33:34.640,0:33:38.159
uh that he got for born for the four
0:33:36.960,0:33:41.760
born on the fourth of july
0:33:38.159,0:33:44.320
and jerry maguire according to variety
0:33:41.760,0:33:45.120
um and that follows criticism of a group
0:33:44.320,0:33:47.360
of other
0:33:45.120,0:33:48.399
opulent a-listers including scarlett
0:33:47.360,0:33:51.440
johansson
0:33:48.399,0:33:52.080
and mark ruffalo so you know it’s not
0:33:51.440,0:33:55.200
only hey
0:33:52.080,0:33:56.320
we’re not even showing your show
0:33:55.200,0:33:58.240
there are people that are like i don’t
0:33:56.320,0:33:58.880
even want your award anymore that’s
0:33:58.240,0:34:02.399
that’s pretty
0:33:58.880,0:34:03.600
bad you know people are giving back
0:34:02.399,0:34:06.240
their awards
0:34:03.600,0:34:08.000
um so they say we continue to believe
0:34:06.240,0:34:09.919
that the hollywood foreign press
0:34:08.000,0:34:11.280
is committed to meaningful reform
0:34:09.919,0:34:13.679
however change
0:34:11.280,0:34:15.520
of this magnitude takes time and work
0:34:13.679,0:34:17.520
and we feel strongly
0:34:15.520,0:34:18.720
that the hollywood foreign press needs
0:34:17.520,0:34:21.919
time to do this
0:34:18.720,0:34:22.800
as such nbc will not air the 2022 golden
0:34:21.919,0:34:26.399
globes
0:34:22.800,0:34:27.040
assuming the organization executes on
0:34:26.399,0:34:30.000
its plan
0:34:27.040,0:34:31.839
we are hopeful to return to air the show
0:34:30.000,0:34:35.520
january of 2023
0:34:31.839,0:34:39.599
that was a statement from nbc um
0:34:35.520,0:34:43.679
so it’s kind of interesting to
0:34:39.599,0:34:46.079
to have everybody go against
0:34:43.679,0:34:47.679
them you know for the first time in you
0:34:46.079,0:34:50.960
know i don’t even know how many years
0:34:47.679,0:34:51.280
it’s been um so seeing my response to
0:34:50.960,0:34:54.000
that
0:34:51.280,0:34:55.599
is well it’s about time right because
0:34:54.000,0:34:59.119
they’ve got a pattern of this
0:34:55.599,0:35:01.520
abuse and yeah neglect for
0:34:59.119,0:35:03.200
for years right why all of a sudden are
0:35:01.520,0:35:04.480
these actors waking up and doing
0:35:03.200,0:35:07.520
something about it yeah
0:35:04.480,0:35:07.839
tom when did tom cruise get his and
0:35:07.520,0:35:10.160
that’s
0:35:07.839,0:35:11.760
the thing you know it wasn’t even like
0:35:10.160,0:35:13.440
they were recent ones they were all from
0:35:11.760,0:35:14.560
the 90s born on the 4th of july and
0:35:13.440,0:35:16.880
jerry maguire
0:35:14.560,0:35:18.320
like yeah so geez he’s held onto them
0:35:16.880,0:35:20.240
this long and all of a sudden
0:35:18.320,0:35:21.359
he’s decided to do something no you know
0:35:20.240,0:35:23.119
what i’m i don’t need him
0:35:21.359,0:35:24.880
maybe they were taking him maybe he was
0:35:23.119,0:35:27.200
purging maybe that maybe
0:35:24.880,0:35:28.800
see i think he hasn’t had it he hasn’t
0:35:27.200,0:35:30.320
had another mission impossible movie in
0:35:28.800,0:35:31.200
the last six months so he needed he
0:35:30.320,0:35:33.520
needed something
0:35:31.200,0:35:34.400
he needed to get something right right
0:35:33.520,0:35:37.760
so
0:35:34.400,0:35:37.760
yeah i don’t know
0:35:38.720,0:35:43.359
don’t participate you know this is
0:35:41.280,0:35:43.680
everyone complains about cancel culture
0:35:43.359,0:35:45.280
and
0:35:43.680,0:35:46.720
well it’s not cancel culture it’s
0:35:45.280,0:35:48.720
consequence culture right
0:35:46.720,0:35:51.359
right you know but the problem is is
0:35:48.720,0:35:53.599
that people have
0:35:51.359,0:35:54.480
looked turned a blind’s eye all these
0:35:53.599,0:35:56.960
years now
0:35:54.480,0:35:58.320
all of a sudden now we’re going to do
0:35:56.960,0:36:01.119
something about it
0:35:58.320,0:36:02.720
no it’s a bit hypocritical i think oh at
0:36:01.119,0:36:05.359
least they’re waking up now
0:36:02.720,0:36:06.640
well yeah i guess it’s about time better
0:36:05.359,0:36:09.680
better late than never right
0:36:06.640,0:36:11.839
yep so all right that was all we had for
0:36:09.680,0:36:13.920
our entertainment news this week we’ll
0:36:11.839,0:36:14.480
be right back with our insightful picks
0:36:13.920,0:36:16.800
of the week
0:36:14.480,0:36:16.800
yep
0:36:18.820,0:36:23.200
[Applause]
0:36:20.640,0:36:24.720
go for your insightful pick so my
0:36:23.200,0:36:28.000
insightful pick this week
0:36:24.720,0:36:29.920
is marvel’s agent carter um
0:36:28.000,0:36:32.160
now you might be saying wait didn’t that
0:36:29.920,0:36:35.440
already air well yeah it did
0:36:32.160,0:36:35.839
it just so happens that now with marvel
0:36:35.440,0:36:38.480
and
0:36:35.839,0:36:40.400
disney you have a lot of things showing
0:36:38.480,0:36:41.359
up on disney plus that you haven’t seen
0:36:40.400,0:36:44.880
in a while
0:36:41.359,0:36:46.720
um so marvel’s agent carter happens to
0:36:44.880,0:36:49.920
be on disney plus
0:36:46.720,0:36:52.480
so the first season takes place in 1946
0:36:49.920,0:36:54.000
with peggy carter having to balance the
0:36:52.480,0:36:57.119
routine of office work that
0:36:54.000,0:36:59.920
she does for the ssr in new york city
0:36:57.119,0:37:01.839
with secretly assisting howard stark who
0:36:59.920,0:37:03.599
finds himself framed for supplying
0:37:01.839,0:37:04.880
deadly weapons to the enemies of the
0:37:03.599,0:37:08.000
united states
0:37:04.880,0:37:11.200
carter is assisted by jarvis um
0:37:08.000,0:37:15.520
by starks butler edwin jarvis
0:37:11.200,0:37:18.079
who uh to who find those responsible
0:37:15.520,0:37:18.960
and to dispose of the weapons in the
0:37:18.079,0:37:21.359
second season
0:37:18.960,0:37:22.079
carter moves from new york city to los
0:37:21.359,0:37:24.880
angeles to
0:37:22.079,0:37:26.160
deal with the threats of a new age a new
0:37:24.880,0:37:29.040
atomic age
0:37:26.160,0:37:29.760
by the secret empire in the aftermath of
0:37:29.040,0:37:32.160
world war
0:37:29.760,0:37:34.240
ii gaining new friends a new home and a
0:37:32.160,0:37:38.480
potential new love interest
0:37:34.240,0:37:40.880
who isn’t um captain america just fyi
0:37:38.480,0:37:41.920
um so the first season consists of eight
0:37:40.880,0:37:46.160
episodes
0:37:41.920,0:37:48.720
which originally aired um january to
0:37:46.160,0:37:50.000
uh february in 2015 and the second
0:37:48.720,0:37:53.680
season consisted of
0:37:50.000,0:37:57.520
10 episodes which ran uh january
0:37:53.680,0:37:59.680
uh march january to march in 2016.
0:37:57.520,0:38:01.920
both seasons actually aired during
0:37:59.680,0:38:04.640
mid-season breaks for
0:38:01.920,0:38:05.440
marvel’s agents of shield and even
0:38:04.640,0:38:08.480
though
0:38:05.440,0:38:12.079
it did really well
0:38:08.480,0:38:13.599
nbc canceled them after two seasons
0:38:12.079,0:38:15.440
which we were kind of
0:38:13.599,0:38:17.520
upset about because we really enjoyed
0:38:15.440,0:38:21.920
the show and it was a nice little
0:38:17.520,0:38:24.560
tie-in um you know to captain america
0:38:21.920,0:38:24.960
and you know the other characters and
0:38:24.560,0:38:28.240
then
0:38:24.960,0:38:30.640
what ended up happening was later on uh
0:38:28.240,0:38:31.760
if you watch agents of shield one of the
0:38:30.640,0:38:35.200
characters
0:38:31.760,0:38:38.320
the other characters from um
0:38:35.200,0:38:39.040
agent carter he ends up becoming a
0:38:38.320,0:38:42.160
character
0:38:39.040,0:38:44.160
in in shield so and
0:38:42.160,0:38:45.760
it’s one of those things we started
0:38:44.160,0:38:47.839
watching it or i started
0:38:45.760,0:38:49.599
watching re-watching it again with our
0:38:47.839,0:38:53.040
daughter because we did
0:38:49.599,0:38:55.839
falcon winter soldier and she’s up on
0:38:53.040,0:38:58.240
all of the marvel things so now here’s
0:38:55.839,0:39:02.000
you know to give you a little back story
0:38:58.240,0:39:05.200
in peggy’s life and you know why mommy
0:39:02.000,0:39:06.560
you know likes her little agent carter
0:39:05.200,0:39:10.000
pop so much
0:39:06.560,0:39:10.000
okay cool pick thank you
0:39:11.150,0:39:15.200
[Applause]
0:39:13.440,0:39:17.520
so my pick this week is not a
0:39:15.200,0:39:20.960
documentary oh my god really
0:39:17.520,0:39:22.320
it’s not a crusty old show or or movie
0:39:20.960,0:39:24.800
that i dug up
0:39:22.320,0:39:26.240
this is actually fresh brand new hot off
0:39:24.800,0:39:28.800
the presses
0:39:26.240,0:39:30.960
this week’s uh insightful pick from may
0:39:28.800,0:39:33.359
is the bad batch
0:39:30.960,0:39:35.119
now they call themselves the bad batch
0:39:33.359,0:39:39.040
but the motley crew that makes up
0:39:35.119,0:39:42.480
clone force 99 boasts an astounding 100
0:39:39.040,0:39:46.079
success rate and skills unseen
0:39:42.480,0:39:47.359
in any other cloned troopers adept at
0:39:46.079,0:39:49.520
working together
0:39:47.359,0:39:51.680
even after the end of the clone war
0:39:49.520,0:39:54.400
hunter record tech and echo
0:39:51.680,0:39:56.640
continue to operate as a unit using
0:39:54.400,0:40:00.000
their unique talents and specialized
0:39:56.640,0:40:01.440
physiology to survive at the dawn of the
0:40:00.000,0:40:03.200
empire
0:40:01.440,0:40:05.119
star wars the bad batch follows the
0:40:03.200,0:40:06.880
elite and experimental clone troopers of
0:40:05.119,0:40:08.079
the bad batch first introduced in the
0:40:06.880,0:40:10.079
clone wars
0:40:08.079,0:40:11.440
as they find their way in a rapidly
0:40:10.079,0:40:13.520
changing galaxy
0:40:11.440,0:40:14.720
in the immediate aftermath of the clone
0:40:13.520,0:40:16.800
war
0:40:14.720,0:40:19.200
members of the bad batch unique squad of
0:40:16.800,0:40:19.760
clones who vary genetically from their
0:40:19.200,0:40:22.400
brothers
0:40:19.760,0:40:23.040
in the clone army each possess a
0:40:22.400,0:40:24.800
singular
0:40:23.040,0:40:27.520
exceptional skill that makes them
0:40:24.800,0:40:31.920
extraordinarily effective soldiers
0:40:27.520,0:40:35.359
and a formidable crew crew
0:40:31.920,0:40:37.760
so they kind of telegraphed this
0:40:35.359,0:40:39.760
in the last season of clone wars when
0:40:37.760,0:40:41.440
disney had brought the clone wars back
0:40:39.760,0:40:44.079
to finish the last season
0:40:41.440,0:40:46.720
okay there was a couple of episode arc
0:40:44.079,0:40:48.640
that had the bad batch in there and
0:40:46.720,0:40:50.560
it kind of left everybody scratching
0:40:48.640,0:40:51.839
their heads as to who are these guys
0:40:50.560,0:40:53.440
what are they doing with them why are
0:40:51.839,0:40:54.800
they showing up here
0:40:53.440,0:40:57.359
it has nothing to do with the
0:40:54.800,0:40:58.960
overarching story of the season
0:40:57.359,0:41:00.960
what’s going on and it turns out it was
0:40:58.960,0:41:03.280
just a preview of their own show
0:41:00.960,0:41:05.200
because like with disney everybody gets
0:41:03.280,0:41:10.079
their own show now of course
0:41:05.200,0:41:12.640
um i was not excited about this
0:41:10.079,0:41:14.079
um i was not particularly enamored by
0:41:12.640,0:41:14.560
them when they showed up in the clone
0:41:14.079,0:41:17.760
wars
0:41:14.560,0:41:19.119
i being the disney the star wars purest
0:41:17.760,0:41:22.319
that i am
0:41:19.119,0:41:22.720
um i i didn’t like the idea that you had
0:41:22.319,0:41:24.480
these
0:41:22.720,0:41:27.839
clones that were unique because then
0:41:24.480,0:41:30.960
they’re not clones if they’re unique
0:41:27.839,0:41:32.319
um and the storyline behind them was a
0:41:30.960,0:41:34.720
little
0:41:32.319,0:41:36.079
extraordinary and i don’t know i just
0:41:34.720,0:41:37.839
didn’t i didn’t like it
0:41:36.079,0:41:39.599
so i was hesitant to watch the show
0:41:37.839,0:41:40.960
itself but i finally broke down and i
0:41:39.599,0:41:44.480
watched it
0:41:40.960,0:41:47.760
and it works
0:41:44.480,0:41:50.160
surprisingly well it works the first
0:41:47.760,0:41:51.920
episode starts off right when next order
0:41:50.160,0:41:53.599
66 is
0:41:51.920,0:41:57.280
is executed and what was very
0:41:53.599,0:42:01.280
interesting was the very first episode
0:41:57.280,0:42:04.560
brings another character in from rebels
0:42:01.280,0:42:05.040
who you don’t get to see them in this
0:42:04.560,0:42:08.960
light
0:42:05.040,0:42:11.040
as an actual jedi okay in rebels
0:42:08.960,0:42:14.000
so it’s a little bit more backstory
0:42:11.040,0:42:15.760
there you get to see other characters
0:42:14.000,0:42:17.839
tarkin shows up in this and he’s going
0:42:15.760,0:42:20.800
to be a protagonist here
0:42:17.839,0:42:22.000
um the dynamic between the team is very
0:42:20.800,0:42:23.520
interesting the way they do and they
0:42:22.000,0:42:26.960
introduce another
0:42:23.520,0:42:30.079
um character who’s another oddball
0:42:26.960,0:42:32.480
you know from the from the clones that
0:42:30.079,0:42:33.359
uh i’m still a little kind of a jury
0:42:32.480,0:42:34.480
still out on
0:42:33.359,0:42:37.040
whether or not i’m gonna like this
0:42:34.480,0:42:37.920
character or not um but the first
0:42:37.040,0:42:39.760
episode
0:42:37.920,0:42:41.920
you know i got that under my belt now it
0:42:39.760,0:42:43.920
was was very well done
0:42:41.920,0:42:45.520
and again it’s one that’s the show’s run
0:42:43.920,0:42:47.200
by dave filoni so
0:42:45.520,0:42:48.800
it’s gonna be good so you know you’re
0:42:47.200,0:42:51.359
gonna like it right
0:42:48.800,0:42:53.359
like even if i didn’t wanna like it i’m
0:42:51.359,0:42:56.640
gonna like it no matter what
0:42:53.359,0:42:59.280
so anyway the bad batch on disney plus
0:42:56.640,0:43:01.680
uh streaming now and we’ll be right back
0:42:59.280,0:43:01.680
awesome
0:43:02.320,0:43:04.960
[Applause]
0:43:03.550,0:43:08.560
[Music]
0:43:04.960,0:43:10.319
so that was all we had this week for
0:43:08.560,0:43:12.079
insights into entertainment did you have
0:43:10.319,0:43:14.880
any parting words or anything
0:43:12.079,0:43:16.160
to uh what are we doing this weekend
0:43:14.880,0:43:17.760
didn’t we have an event this weekend
0:43:16.160,0:43:18.880
that’s sold out that people can’t go to
0:43:17.760,0:43:21.359
or is that next weekend
0:43:18.880,0:43:22.880
no that’s in like two weeks two weeks um
0:43:21.359,0:43:26.160
monster mania but
0:43:22.880,0:43:29.440
there was something that uh for the
0:43:26.160,0:43:33.599
uh colonial theater i think it is in
0:43:29.440,0:43:36.720
phoenixville they usually do like
0:43:33.599,0:43:38.160
monster movie things or whatever they
0:43:36.720,0:43:42.079
were doing
0:43:38.160,0:43:44.240
um the fog and
0:43:42.079,0:43:46.400
that’s a good movie something else they
0:43:44.240,0:43:47.760
were doing like a double feature
0:43:46.400,0:43:49.440
i think there were still tickets
0:43:47.760,0:43:52.720
available and it’s the weekend
0:43:49.440,0:43:54.560
of memorial day it’s like that saturday
0:43:52.720,0:43:56.640
night i can’t remember what the other
0:43:54.560,0:43:58.000
movie was if there’s tickets available
0:43:56.640,0:44:00.720
next week
0:43:58.000,0:44:01.119
yeah we’ll we’ll mention it uh next week
