- Disney World guest who was handcuffed for refusing a COVID-19 temperature check told sheriffs he had spent too much money at the resort to be arrested
- https://www.insider.com/florida-disney-world-guest-says-spent-too-much-arrested-2021-4
- https://bit.ly/2OvjSOO
- A Walt Disney World guest was arrested and charged with trespassing after refusing to get his temperature screened, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
- While handcuffed, the Louisiana tourist tried to convince law enforcement officers that he had paid too much to be arrested.
- “I paid $15,000. You can’t trespass me for paying $15,000,” Kelly Sills, who was staying at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, said in a video seen by the Tampa Bay Times.
- The troublesome guest also claimed to be a stockholder while pleading with sheriffs, Orlando Weekly reported.
- The Baton Rouge resident was apprehended by sheriffs and Disney staff after skipping a mandatory temperature check outside The Boathouse restaurant at Disney Springs, according to a police report.
- Temperature screening and mask-wearing are required for all guests and employees at Disney World, Insider previously reported.
- Sills initially refused a temperature check but, upon being handcuffed and escorted out of the park, asked to go ahead with the COVID-19 protocol. “Will you take my temperature before you kick me out, please?” Sills said, according to video footage seen by the Tampa Bay Times.
- “They’ll do that in jail, sir,” a deputy replied.
- A deputy then told Sills that he was on a “private property” and was trespassing.
- “I spent $15,000,” Sills said in the video multiple times.
- At one point, as part of his pleading, he claimed to be a stockholder in Disney. “Do you know how much stock I own in Disney?” Sills said, according to a video seen by Orlando Weekly.
- He eventually cooperated with law enforcement, reported the Orlando Sentinel.
- Sills has since pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor trespassing charge, according to court records seen by The Washington Post.
- Disney World employees have detailed experiencing harassment from guests when trying to enforce COVID-19 safety protocols. An unnamed security guard at a hotel in the Florida resort said that he was spat on when reminding a guest to wear a mask, Insider reported in March.

- A New Mexico teen became a bonafide Disney hero while on her vacation when she rescued a drowning toddler.
- Kaydence Henslee, 13, was spending her spring break visiting Disney World with her family.
- During a pool day at their hotel, she noticed a small unconscious body in the deep end of the water.
- “I was scared and nervous and afraid, but my instincts kicked in,” Henslee told KRQE. “I just saw her kind of floating. She wasn’t technically on the bottom when I was there.”
- The victim was three-year-old Haven Williams, who was also spending a vacation with her parents down in Florida.
- Her mother Ashley stepped away from the pool for a moment: “I just remember seeing another woman run across and yell into the bar area for someone to call 911 because a baby had just drowned … I didn’t think it was my baby.”
- Henslee helped get Haven out of the pool as her “lip [turned] purple” and Ashley then recognized it was her own daughter based on the child’s swimsuit.
- An employee at a children’s hospital in Missouri herself, Ashley recalled the terrifying “feeling of losing my child.”
- A heroic bystander helped Henslee and performed CPR until Haven could be transported to the hospital.
- Though things were touch and go, Haven is now expected to make a full recovery.
- “Even the doctors are saying that whoever got her out of the water did it at a perfect time because if she would have been under the water a little longer, it would have been a different outcome,” Ashley noted.
- Henslee remained modest about her incredible actions. “I knew it was the right thing to do to help someone out,” she said.
- She even plans on getting CPR certified in light of the situation.
- Since the near-drowning incident, Haven has stayed in touch with her rescuer.
- Henslee even sent her a sweet friendship necklace for her birthday.
- “The fact that they can still celebrate a birthday this week, celebrate Easter and all the other holidays and see them grow up and maybe even have lifelong friends from New Mexico to their state,” Henslee’s father Matt remarked.
- Little Haven is very lucky to have walked away relatively unharmed.

- Report: Gina Carano lost multiple Disney shows, now developing her own ‘Star Wars-type’ show
- https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2021/4/3/22365478/report-gina-carano-lost-multiple-disney-shows-now-developing-her-own-star-wars-type-show-mma-news
- https://bit.ly/2QbMMEk
- MMA pioneer Gina Carano lost her acting gig on Disney’s The Mandalorian, a Star Wars spin-off series, after a series of controversial tweets. The tenor of those tweets included anti-mask rhetoric and a comparison to being bashed for your political opinions in present-day America to being massacred by the Nazis for your faith.
- The firing by Disney has resulted in Carano losing out on royalties of a potentially lucrative Funko POP and action figure line depicting her character Cara Dune. Her recent appearance on Running Wild with Bear Grylls, on the part Disney-owned National Geographic Channel, was also shelved.
- According to We Got This Covered, who quotes Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman, Carano’s firing cost her even more opportunities than had been initially reported.
- That outlet claims that Carano’s character was being set up to appear in a separate Star Wars show, Rangers of the New Republic. They also claim that Carano was primed to voice her character in the Star Wars animated series The Bad Batch. Both of those shows appear on Disney+ alongside The Mandalorian.
- All these appearances went up in smoke when she was removed from The Mandalorian, though, as it seems Cara Dune is being wiped from the extended Star Wars’ universe.
- However, Carano’s remaining fans (and the new ones who have been attracted by her controversial views) might still get the chance to see her in some sort of Space Opera.
- We Got This Covered has also reported that Carano is developing her own ‘Star Wars-type project’.
- That outlet claims that the project is likely to be in partnership with far-right commentator Ben Shapiro, whose The Daily Wire company signed Carano fresh off of her firing. Carano has also claimed to be working on a ‘John Wick-style project’.
- Obi-Wan Behind The Scenes Image Reveals Ewan McGregor’s Tatooine Beard
- https://screenrant.com/obi-wan-show-ewan-mcgregor-tatooine-beard-image/
- https://bit.ly/3mGdyAV
- New behind-the-scenes images for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series show Ewan McGregor sporting a new look as he gets ready to start production.
- The Disney+ series will take place ten years after the end of Revenge of the Sith, setting it about midway between the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies.
- Filming for the Obi-Wan show is set to begin filming this month.
- Because of the significant time jump from Revenge of the Sith, the Obi-Wan seen in the new show may be a good deal different than McGregor’s last turn as the character.
- As a midway point between Episodes III and IV, Obi-Wan should start to show the Jedi’s transition into the older, more reserved version portrayed by Alec Guinness.
- Still, McGregor’s Obi-Wan is no old man yet, and he’ll likely see plenty of action in the upcoming series – including a promised showdown with Darth Vader.
- Two new behind-the-scenes images tweeted by Star Wars España show McGregor’s new Obi-Wan look, which is a bit more rugged than his prequel appearance.
- That makes sense given that the show will find Obi-Wan in exile on Tatooine as he watches over the young Luke Skywalker.
- The look isn’t complete without the costume of course, but it gives a glimpse at the mountain hermit aesthetic Obi-Wan will be wearing on the Dune Sea.
- One of the biggest questions for the Obi-Wan show is why the Jedi leaves Tatooine in the first place.
- It seems highly unlikely that he’ll be stationed on the desert planet for the duration of the story, but it would take a pretty big event to get him to abandon his protective vigil over Luke.
- That could mean helping out other Jedi survivors of Order 66, or the burgeoning Rebel Alliance.
- Whatever the cause, it sounds like Obi-Wan will be running into some Imperial entanglements.
- Disney recently announced an extensive supporting cast list around McGregor for the show, which includes Fast & Furious’ Sung Kang and former Game of Thrones star, Indira Varma.
- Hayden Christensen has also been confirmed to be reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader – a development that’s been widely celebrated by fans of the prequels.
- It’s unknown how the Obi-Wan/Vader rematch that Disney has promised will take shape, but it should be an exciting addition to the characters’ storyline.
- Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to start filming this month, beginning the ramp-up to McGregor’s return as his most iconic character.

- ‘The Right Stuff’ Canceled By Disney+ After One Season, Shopped By Warner Bros. TV
- https://deadline.com/2021/04/the-right-stuff-canceled-disney-plus-shopped-warner-bros-tv-1234726920/?fbclid=IwAR3A5DbL7e5WA6yY-im4yMjr1Ip3bmidj6mmXQaVOBhpoj5VA3j9V6rQHNk

- Disney+ has opted not to order a second season of space race series The Right Stuff. The Mercury 7 period drama, starring Patrick J. Adams and Jake McDorman, originated at National Geographic before launching as a Disney+ original last October. It is Disney+’s first scripted series cancellation.
- Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind The Right Stuff, is shopping it to other outlets, with WarnerMedia siblings TNT and HBO Max considered logical potential targets. I hear the options on the cast expire tomorrow, and WBTV has asked for a two-week extension while the efforts to find a new home continue.
- There is a major incentive for WBTV and parent WarnerMedia to try and keep The Right Stuff going — in November, the series, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, was given $13.7 million to move from Florida to California for Season 2, the fourth-highest relocating incentive ever awarded under the CFC program.
- Disney+’s decision not to proceed with a second season of The Right Stuff, adapted from Tom Wolfe’s bestselling nonfiction account of the early days of the U.S. space program, came after lengthy discussions with WBTV. I hear they examined different ideas for continuing the series, including a second season focused on a new mission from the 1980s, likely with a new cast.
- The Right Stuff, which is believed to have been a modest performer for Disney+ that did not break into Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming ratings, marked Nat Geo’s first scripted original series for Disney+. It was Disney+’s second original drama series after The Mandalorian and provided the SVOD platform with a high-end original scripted series in the fall when streamers felt the effects of the coronavirus-related production shutdown that drained the original content pipeline.
- Set in 1959, the eight-episode The Right Stuff examines what would become America’s first “reality show,” as ambitious astronauts and their families become instant celebrities in a competition that could kill them or make them immortal. The two men at the center of the story are Major John Glenn (Adams), a revered test pilot and committed family man with unwavering principles, and Lieutenant Commander Alan Shepard (McDorman), one of the best test pilots in Navy history.
- The rest of the Mercury Seven includes Lieutenant Gordon Cooper (Colin O’Donoghue), Wally Schirra (Aaron Staton), Scott Carpenter (James Lafferty), Deke Slayton (Micah Stock), and Gus Grissom (Michael Trotter).
- The Right Stuff‘s ensemble cast also includes Nora Zehetner, Eloise Mumford, and Shannon Lucio, Patrick Fischler, Eric Ladin, Danny Strong and Josh Cooke.
- DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson are executive producers, along with showrunner Mark Lafferty. Chris Long directed and executive produced the first episode. Will Staples, Howard Korder and Danny Strong are also executive producers. Thelma Schoonmaker is consulting producer. Michael Hampton shepherded this project on behalf of Appian Way and is co-producer.
- ‘What We Do In The Shadows’ showrunner teases “completely different” season three

- The showrunner for Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s vampire parody show What We Do In The Shadows has teased a “completely different” direction for its upcoming third season.
- A third outing for the show was confirmed last year just after its second season aired on FX.
- Based on Waititi’s 2014 film of the same name, the show follows “three vampires in New York City who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years”
- As part a the virtual Paley Fest panel yesterday (March 30), showrunner/executive producer Paul Simms and executive producer Stefani Robinson joined the show’s cast over Zoom to discuss work on season three.
- As well as revealing that writing was well under way for the new series, and that a February 2021 shooting date had been pushed back to later this year due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, Simms teased what to expect from the next edition of the show.
- As well as teasing a new character who is “someone we all know and love,” Robinson said that the critical reception to the show’s second season showed the bosses that “we can do whatever we want” with the show.
- Discussing the season two episode that featured Matt Berry’s ‘human’ alter-ego Jackie Daytona, and the potential future of that character, Robinson said: “That episode gave us the opportunity to break format with all of the characters and push the show into new settings, formats, characters to explore what we’ve established.”
- Simms added: “So not another Jackie Daytona adventure, but we have plans for the show to go into completely different directions.”
- Discussing the show’s mockumentary format, Robinson added: “That style grounds it and makes the show work. Staten Island, their neighbours and everything needs to feel real and it’s the magic of the show because when it feels real, the cast can be big and surprising. Rooting it in some reality makes it work.”
- Reviewing season two of What We Do In The Shadows upon its release last year, NME wrote: “For fans of the first series, no doubt, this will be a delightful top-up and an opportunity to see beloved characters again. For the less besotted, however, although the show features a great deal of death, it doesn’t show many signs of life.”

- Worn Stories
- https://www.netflix.com/title/80240923
- In this funny, heartfelt and moving docuseries, real people unpack the fascinating and quirky stories around their most meaningful pieces of clothing.
- Spanning everything from dry cleaning to outer space, this eight-part look at people’s most treasured clothing items captures an expansive variety of life’s experiences.
- Early on in the last episode of “Worn Stories,” a number of unrelated people of all ages and backgrounds offer their ideas about love. For a show ostensibly about clothing, that may seem like a bit of a leap. But after watching the seven episodes prior, “love” seems like the only place to end a season-long look at our collective relationship to the clothes we wear.
- The series, adapted from writer Emily Spivack’s book of the same name, offers a kaleidoscopic view of human experience, a collection of stories all gathered around people’s most treasured items of clothing. Each episode revolves around a thematic connection, drawing together a handful of first-person accounts of life experiences inextricably linked to whatever the storyteller wore during a particularly fateful time. These range from split-second, life-changing surprises to gradual and persistent periods where one specific item became an irreplaceable constant.
- If “Worn Stories” were simply a The Moth-style collection of narrated life events in front of a series of single-toned pastel backgrounds, that would probably be enough. What “Worn Stories” adds to supplement each tale is an appropriately eclectic mix of animation and recreations that help give life to stories without the usual archival material that would normally help illustrate. These interludes reach across media, spanning collage and cutouts, felt and clay, 2-D and tactile.
- When the people themselves are showcased, it’s not always narration from a closed-off set. There’s also time in “Worn Stories” to see people connecting over some common bond, be it a location (Las Vegas gets an entire episode under this gentle microscope) or shared passion (the opening chapter includes people who have found fulfillment from a life lived nude). In each, “Worn Stories” presents these stories as part of a much larger tapestry, recognizing that clothing sizes and styles are not the only things that distinguish each successive wearer.
- If there’s an overarching theme to the series, it’s how much a simple change in attire can unlock something buried deep within. People look for opportunities and acceptance in a big city. They track the evolution of an idea as it moves through greater media attention. In these individual items, there’s also a chance to connect with some deeper, fundamental part of an identity. Those anecdotes carry much of the series’ weight — what directors Dara Horenblas, Claudia Woloshin, and Ted Passon (also a co-director on “Philly D.A.,” due on PBS later this month) also manage to capture are the tinier everyday joys and celebrations of life that come from something treasured. “Worn Stories” is a show that recognizes the value in having as many of those stories as possible, even if it only lasts a sentence or two. (Case in point: “I contributed to the ugly sweater movement.”)

- Season two of the space drama picks up a decade later in 1983.
- It’s the height of the Cold War and tensions between the United States and the USSR are at their peak.
- Ronald Reagan is President and the greater ambitions of science and space exploration are at threat of being squandered as the US and Soviets go head to head to control sites rich in resources on the moon.
- The Department of Defense has moved into Mission Control, and the militarization of NASA becomes central to several characters’ stories: some fight it, some use it as an opportunity to advance their own interests, and some find themselves at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war.
- The level of drama in season two is at the same fever pitch but on a more global level now.
- Instead of being confined to individual struggles and interpersonal relationships we see a number of outside obstacles that contribute to the drama
- Having very much departed the known world of NASA of the 60’s by the end of season 1, the 10 year time hop of season two allows the show to take on a whole new personality firmly grounded in fiction with a few nostalgic historical references
- Not only has the space race been effected from our known historical timeline but we see a great number of other things from politics, pop-culture, technology and industry have also been affected by this alternate timeline of events
- Most of these changes serve as colorful backdrops without having any real significance on the plot.
- We see John Lennon isn’t assassinated in 1980, while Pope John Paul II does fall to an assasination attempt.
- The 1980 Miracle on Ice hockey game between the US and USSR never happens, and Prince Charles marries Camilla instead of Dianna
- For the most part these have little effect on the plot of the show and serve more as familiar references to lend credence to the time period
- Much like a reference to Star Trek: The Wrath of Kahn just being released in theaters. Pop culture references designed to act as anchor points in the timeline and highlight the fact that this world is different from reality
- It’s an interesting attempt at historical foreshadowing where the audience knows what happens in the time period, but you don’t quite know if it happens in the show as it did in real life.
- It makes for an interesting mix of drama and ceding possible plot twists later on

0:02:49.120,0:02:53.920
and for our entertainment news the right
0:02:51.200,0:02:56.800
stuff got the wrong news
0:02:53.920,0:02:58.560
and we can expect a completely different
0:02:56.800,0:02:59.840
season three for one of our favorite
0:02:58.560,0:03:01.280
shows
0:02:59.840,0:03:03.360
and then we’ll obviously finish up with
0:03:01.280,0:03:06.820
our insightful picks of the week
0:03:03.360,0:03:09.979
ready to get into it sure all right
0:03:06.820,0:03:09.979
[Applause]
0:03:10.740,0:03:17.040
[Music]
0:03:14.720,0:03:18.959
go for disney detective so this story
0:03:17.040,0:03:20.400
had popped up there have been a lot of
0:03:18.959,0:03:21.200
different news sources talking about it
0:03:20.400,0:03:23.200
so i figured
0:03:21.200,0:03:25.040
we might as well talk about it too so it
0:03:23.200,0:03:26.080
seems a walt disney world guest was
0:03:25.040,0:03:29.120
arrested and
0:03:26.080,0:03:31.040
charged with trespassing after refusing
0:03:29.120,0:03:33.200
to get his temperature screened
0:03:31.040,0:03:34.159
according to the orange county sheriff’s
0:03:33.200,0:03:36.640
office
0:03:34.159,0:03:38.239
while he was handcuffed the louisiana
0:03:36.640,0:03:41.519
tourist tried to convince
0:03:38.239,0:03:44.400
law enforcement law enforcement officers
0:03:41.519,0:03:46.959
that he had paid too much to be arrested
0:03:44.400,0:03:49.680
i paid fifteen thousand dollars
0:03:46.959,0:03:51.680
you can’t trespass me for paying fifteen
0:03:49.680,0:03:55.360
thousand dollars
0:03:51.680,0:03:58.319
that was his catchphrase um the uh
0:03:55.360,0:04:01.360
the guest kelly sims who was staying at
0:03:58.319,0:04:03.599
disney’s saratoga springs resort and spa
0:04:01.360,0:04:05.519
said in a video seen by the tampa bay
0:04:03.599,0:04:08.159
times the troublesome guest
0:04:05.519,0:04:10.319
also claimed to be a stockholder while
0:04:08.159,0:04:13.599
pleading with sheriffs
0:04:10.319,0:04:15.360
the baton rouge resident was apprehended
0:04:13.599,0:04:17.919
by sheriffs and disney staff
0:04:15.360,0:04:18.560
after skipping a mandatory temperature
0:04:17.919,0:04:20.880
check
0:04:18.560,0:04:22.320
outside the boathouse restaurant at
0:04:20.880,0:04:24.160
disney springs
0:04:22.320,0:04:25.680
temperature screenings and mask wearing
0:04:24.160,0:04:26.320
are required for all guests and
0:04:25.680,0:04:29.360
employees
0:04:26.320,0:04:31.600
at walt disney world um still
0:04:29.360,0:04:32.479
sills uh initially refusing a
0:04:31.600,0:04:35.360
temperature check
0:04:32.479,0:04:36.240
upon being handcuffed and escorted out
0:04:35.360,0:04:40.000
of the park
0:04:36.240,0:04:42.639
asked to go ahead with covid 19 protocol
0:04:40.000,0:04:44.560
and um he’s like well will you take my
0:04:42.639,0:04:47.919
temperature before you kick me out
0:04:44.560,0:04:49.199
and the deputy said yeah they’ll do that
0:04:47.919,0:04:51.840
in jail sir
0:04:49.199,0:04:52.720
um you know the deputy then told sills
0:04:51.840,0:04:54.720
that he was now
0:04:52.720,0:04:56.960
on you know that he was on private
0:04:54.720,0:04:59.280
property and now he was trespassing
0:04:56.960,0:05:00.960
and of course he you know kept going on
0:04:59.280,0:05:01.919
and on about paying fifteen thousand
0:05:00.960,0:05:04.160
dollars
0:05:01.919,0:05:06.400
and then going on about do you know how
0:05:04.160,0:05:08.560
much stock i own in disney
0:05:06.400,0:05:10.479
well he obviously eventually cooperated
0:05:08.560,0:05:13.440
with law enforcement
0:05:10.479,0:05:14.960
he has pled not guilty to a misdemeanor
0:05:13.440,0:05:18.160
of trespassing
0:05:14.960,0:05:21.280
um and obviously you know
0:05:18.160,0:05:24.960
he isn’t the first person to complain
0:05:21.280,0:05:25.600
about this um you know many cast members
0:05:24.960,0:05:28.720
have
0:05:25.600,0:05:31.840
you know told various you know
0:05:28.720,0:05:34.800
experiences of harassment from guests
0:05:31.840,0:05:36.400
um you know trying to you know get them
0:05:34.800,0:05:39.440
to adhere to the
0:05:36.400,0:05:41.199
the protocols that are in place um you
0:05:39.440,0:05:42.960
know so of course this isn’t the first
0:05:41.199,0:05:44.720
but it’s kind of you know
0:05:42.960,0:05:46.240
a funny one because he kept you know
0:05:44.720,0:05:47.919
going on and on about
0:05:46.240,0:05:49.919
you know spending fifteen thousand
0:05:47.919,0:05:52.160
dollars on his vacation
0:05:49.919,0:05:53.759
and getting so how obtrusive is a
0:05:52.160,0:05:57.360
temperature check
0:05:53.759,0:05:59.120
i i get it yeah like like i
0:05:57.360,0:06:00.639
i don’t get it either i mean i would
0:05:59.120,0:06:02.319
think a bank check would be more
0:06:00.639,0:06:04.560
obtrusive than a temperature check
0:06:02.319,0:06:06.479
and the thing is you know most people
0:06:04.560,0:06:07.360
you know are like all right do it on my
0:06:06.479,0:06:09.520
forehead or
0:06:07.360,0:06:11.520
there are people now you know there have
0:06:09.520,0:06:12.000
been a bunch of different reports out
0:06:11.520,0:06:14.720
there
0:06:12.000,0:06:16.319
saying you know too many times you know
0:06:14.720,0:06:18.319
with it on your head or something
0:06:16.319,0:06:20.080
so now they’re saying to just do you
0:06:18.319,0:06:22.000
know for like young children
0:06:20.080,0:06:23.759
or you know if you’re worried about it
0:06:22.000,0:06:24.479
to to do it on your wrist your wrist is
0:06:23.759,0:06:25.680
just as
0:06:24.479,0:06:27.520
what would you be wearing well like
0:06:25.680,0:06:30.800
what’s this it’s a whole you
0:06:27.520,0:06:32.400
google it yeah it literally just reads a
0:06:30.800,0:06:35.440
laser roughly i don’t know
0:06:32.400,0:06:36.400
people are like oh lasers and yeah
0:06:35.440,0:06:38.639
are these the people that wear the
0:06:36.400,0:06:41.280
tinfoil hats too
0:06:38.639,0:06:44.639
i don’t know but disney employees with
0:06:41.280,0:06:44.639
freaking laser beams
0:06:44.720,0:06:50.720
yeah so you know it’s just
0:06:47.840,0:06:52.240
really and the thing is i’m sure you got
0:06:50.720,0:06:54.560
your temperature checked
0:06:52.240,0:06:55.599
multiple times so i’m a dizzy
0:06:54.560,0:06:58.560
stockholder who
0:06:55.599,0:06:59.280
first of all who pays 15 000 to go to
0:06:58.560,0:07:01.199
disney
0:06:59.280,0:07:02.560
that’s that’s the number one thing there
0:07:01.199,0:07:06.479
well maybe he was there for
0:07:02.560,0:07:09.039
like two weeks um maybe
0:07:06.479,0:07:10.800
but okay so so all right let’s get the
0:07:09.039,0:07:13.599
benefit of that so i paid fifteen
0:07:10.800,0:07:16.319
thousand dollars and i’m a stockholder
0:07:13.599,0:07:20.000
so that means that i’m immunicovid right
0:07:16.319,0:07:23.680
absolutely what’s the logic i don’t know
0:07:20.000,0:07:27.120
and and the thing is disney has n
0:07:23.680,0:07:29.599
has made it obvious
0:07:27.120,0:07:30.960
about their rules and regulations that
0:07:29.599,0:07:33.520
you need to follow
0:07:30.960,0:07:36.080
if you want to come here these are our
0:07:33.520,0:07:38.800
rules and our regulations you know
0:07:36.080,0:07:39.599
we they just released that how they were
0:07:38.800,0:07:42.840
kind of
0:07:39.599,0:07:45.520
um um not laxing
0:07:42.840,0:07:46.479
um they’re cut they’re relaxing they’re
0:07:45.520,0:07:48.560
relaxing
0:07:46.479,0:07:50.560
right so some of the masks if you’re
0:07:48.560,0:07:52.319
stationary and you’re taking a picture
0:07:50.560,0:07:54.240
outdoors you can temporarily take your
0:07:52.319,0:07:56.560
right you can take your mask off for
0:07:54.240,0:07:57.360
for the picture so okay you know but
0:07:56.560,0:08:00.160
that’s it but
0:07:57.360,0:08:01.840
you know if you’re eating you know that
0:08:00.160,0:08:02.560
they had basically said if you were at a
0:08:01.840,0:08:04.639
restaurant
0:08:02.560,0:08:06.080
and not eating you still you needed to
0:08:04.639,0:08:07.759
wear it the only time you could take it
0:08:06.080,0:08:09.680
off is when
0:08:07.759,0:08:11.599
you know you’re you’re actually putting
0:08:09.680,0:08:14.240
food into your mouth
0:08:11.599,0:08:15.680
so they they’ve put all these rules out
0:08:14.240,0:08:17.599
there
0:08:15.680,0:08:19.440
you know so if you want to go there you
0:08:17.599,0:08:22.160
have to abide by
0:08:19.440,0:08:24.000
their roles whether people like it or
0:08:22.160,0:08:26.400
not disney’s private property
0:08:24.000,0:08:28.160
absolutely it is not a public park it’s
0:08:26.400,0:08:30.240
not subsidized by the government
0:08:28.160,0:08:31.440
and they they can make whatever rules
0:08:30.240,0:08:33.279
they want
0:08:31.440,0:08:35.200
for being on their property using their
0:08:33.279,0:08:36.080
facilities absolutely and they can
0:08:35.200,0:08:38.800
refuse you
0:08:36.080,0:08:39.279
if you know you don’t want to well and
0:08:38.800,0:08:41.599
that’s
0:08:39.279,0:08:42.800
like i’m waiting we had a story last
0:08:41.599,0:08:45.200
week about
0:08:42.800,0:08:46.000
uh the governor of florida right
0:08:45.200,0:08:49.200
basically
0:08:46.000,0:08:51.040
outlawing the requirement for for uh
0:08:49.200,0:08:52.320
vaccination passports which don’t exist
0:08:51.040,0:08:54.720
yet right
0:08:52.320,0:08:56.399
i’m waiting for that fight to start when
0:08:54.720,0:08:58.080
disney’s going to require you to have a
0:08:56.399,0:08:59.279
passport to come in when they finally
0:08:58.080,0:09:00.800
form it
0:08:59.279,0:09:02.800
and the people are going to fight that
0:09:00.800,0:09:03.760
the governor governor has no authority
0:09:02.800,0:09:06.000
to do that
0:09:03.760,0:09:07.680
right you can’t tell a private company
0:09:06.000,0:09:10.480
right you know not to
0:09:07.680,0:09:11.200
allow that right if it’s a public park
0:09:10.480,0:09:15.040
right
0:09:11.200,0:09:16.240
yes that’s where you have mandate over
0:09:15.040,0:09:17.760
you know right and if you’re getting
0:09:16.240,0:09:19.440
government subsidies right the
0:09:17.760,0:09:20.959
government can withhold the subsidies if
0:09:19.440,0:09:22.880
you’re not gonna abide by their
0:09:20.959,0:09:24.160
their terms right but even you know
0:09:22.880,0:09:25.680
there are certain states that have
0:09:24.160,0:09:28.880
already lifted
0:09:25.680,0:09:32.160
the the mandatory masks but yet chain
0:09:28.880,0:09:34.880
stores you know that operate
0:09:32.160,0:09:36.240
are still requiring it and that’s no
0:09:34.880,0:09:38.880
different than no shoot
0:09:36.240,0:09:39.600
no shoes no service problems absolutely
0:09:38.880,0:09:43.680
no mask
0:09:39.600,0:09:45.360
no no uh vaccine passport no service
0:09:43.680,0:09:45.839
it’s that simple no haunted mansion for
0:09:45.360,0:09:48.080
you
0:09:45.839,0:09:49.279
no walnut mansion for you that’s what
0:09:48.080,0:09:51.600
fortunately
0:09:49.279,0:09:53.120
that’s why i got my shot so i can go on
0:09:51.600,0:09:55.600
right right because you don’t want to be
0:09:53.120,0:09:57.760
one of the 99
0:09:55.600,0:09:59.360
exactly that was a good one so that was
0:09:57.760,0:10:01.200
our disney villain
0:09:59.360,0:10:02.959
tell us about our disney hero so this
0:10:01.200,0:10:06.399
was a story that you actually
0:10:02.959,0:10:08.959
found so it seems that a
0:10:06.399,0:10:11.680
new mexico teen became a bona fide
0:10:08.959,0:10:14.880
disney hero while on her vacation
0:10:11.680,0:10:18.720
when she rescued a drowning toddler
0:10:14.880,0:10:20.640
uh cadence uh hensley who’s 13 was
0:10:18.720,0:10:22.320
spending her spring break visiting walt
0:10:20.640,0:10:24.399
disney world with her family
0:10:22.320,0:10:25.440
during a pool day at the hotel she
0:10:24.399,0:10:28.000
noticed a small
0:10:25.440,0:10:28.880
unconscious body in the deep end of the
0:10:28.000,0:10:30.720
water
0:10:28.880,0:10:33.200
she said i was scared and nervous and
0:10:30.720,0:10:35.760
afraid but my instincts kicked in
0:10:33.200,0:10:37.120
i just saw her kind of floating she
0:10:35.760,0:10:39.360
wasn’t technically
0:10:37.120,0:10:42.320
on the bottom when i was there the
0:10:39.360,0:10:44.320
victim was actually a three-year-old
0:10:42.320,0:10:46.320
named haven williams who was also
0:10:44.320,0:10:47.600
spending a vacation with her parents
0:10:46.320,0:10:49.519
down in florida
0:10:47.600,0:10:50.720
her mother ashley stepped away from the
0:10:49.519,0:10:52.640
pool for a moment
0:10:50.720,0:10:54.079
she said i just remember seeing another
0:10:52.640,0:10:56.640
woman running across
0:10:54.079,0:10:58.959
and yelling into the bar area for
0:10:56.640,0:10:59.600
someone to call 9-1-1 because a baby had
0:10:58.959,0:11:01.040
drowned
0:10:59.600,0:11:02.880
and she said i didn’t even think that it
0:11:01.040,0:11:05.519
was my baby
0:11:02.880,0:11:07.680
hensley helped have helped get haven out
0:11:05.519,0:11:08.720
of the pool as her lips were turning
0:11:07.680,0:11:11.839
purple
0:11:08.720,0:11:13.760
um the mother ashley had said she
0:11:11.839,0:11:14.959
recognized that it was her own daughter
0:11:13.760,0:11:18.240
based on the
0:11:14.959,0:11:20.959
child’s swimsuit a cast member at
0:11:18.240,0:11:22.800
she’s actually an employee at children’s
0:11:20.959,0:11:25.360
hospital in missouri
0:11:22.800,0:11:26.800
and she recalled the terrifying feeling
0:11:25.360,0:11:30.000
of losing
0:11:26.800,0:11:32.079
her child a heroic bystander helped
0:11:30.000,0:11:34.320
hensley
0:11:32.079,0:11:36.000
perform cpr until haven could be
0:11:34.320,0:11:37.839
transported to the hospital
0:11:36.000,0:11:40.880
though things were touch and go haven is
0:11:37.839,0:11:43.200
now expected to make a full recovery
0:11:40.880,0:11:45.040
they uh ashley had said even the doctors
0:11:43.200,0:11:46.160
were saying that whoever got her out of
0:11:45.040,0:11:48.320
the water did it
0:11:46.160,0:11:50.000
at a perfect time because she could have
0:11:48.320,0:11:51.920
been under if she
0:11:50.000,0:11:54.720
had been underwater a little longer it
0:11:51.920,0:11:58.639
would have been a much different outcome
0:11:54.720,0:11:59.920
um hensley has remained modest about her
0:11:58.639,0:12:01.440
incredible actions
0:11:59.920,0:12:03.600
she said i knew it was the right thing
0:12:01.440,0:12:05.680
to do to help somebody out
0:12:03.600,0:12:06.639
she even plans on getting her cpr
0:12:05.680,0:12:09.120
certification
0:12:06.639,0:12:10.399
in light of the situation and since the
0:12:09.120,0:12:12.240
near drowning incident
0:12:10.399,0:12:14.800
haven has stayed in touch with her
0:12:12.240,0:12:18.160
rescuer they have sent each other
0:12:14.800,0:12:19.360
uh little notes and hensley has actually
0:12:18.160,0:12:22.399
sent her a little
0:12:19.360,0:12:24.320
friendship bracelet for her birthday
0:12:22.399,0:12:26.399
her mother had said the fact that they
0:12:24.320,0:12:29.760
can still celebrate a birthday
0:12:26.399,0:12:32.079
um i’m sorry it was it was uh the
0:12:29.760,0:12:34.000
the teen’s father had said the fact that
0:12:32.079,0:12:34.320
they can still celebrate a birthday this
0:12:34.000,0:12:36.800
week
0:12:34.320,0:12:38.240
celebrate easter and all other holidays
0:12:36.800,0:12:40.160
and see them grow up
0:12:38.240,0:12:42.800
and maybe even have lifelong friends
0:12:40.160,0:12:44.560
from new mexico to their state
0:12:42.800,0:12:45.839
little haven is very lucky to have
0:12:44.560,0:12:48.720
walked away from
0:12:45.839,0:12:50.160
relatively unharmed yeah that’s a that’s
0:12:48.720,0:12:51.600
a great feel-good story and it touched
0:12:50.160,0:12:54.399
me because i thought
0:12:51.600,0:12:56.000
you know our daughter is 14. she’s been
0:12:54.399,0:12:56.399
in that situation where she’s been one
0:12:56.000,0:12:59.440
of the
0:12:56.399,0:13:02.240
only people in the pool at a time right
0:12:59.440,0:13:03.440
when we’re down there right and you know
0:13:02.240,0:13:05.040
what would she have done in that
0:13:03.440,0:13:05.760
situation right yeah how would she have
0:13:05.040,0:13:08.959
reacted
0:13:05.760,0:13:09.360
yeah um you figure this is a you know
0:13:08.959,0:13:12.079
it’s a
0:13:09.360,0:13:13.279
not only is it a life-saving event it’s
0:13:12.079,0:13:15.279
a life-changing event
0:13:13.279,0:13:17.360
oh absolutely you know this can really
0:13:15.279,0:13:19.920
dictate the direction that one
0:13:17.360,0:13:21.680
goes with their life from here yeah and
0:13:19.920,0:13:23.760
obviously you know since she’s taking up
0:13:21.680,0:13:24.000
cpr it’s it’s already had an influence
0:13:23.760,0:13:26.720
on
0:13:24.000,0:13:27.839
yeah yeah so i think i think that was a
0:13:26.720,0:13:30.240
great story and i think
0:13:27.839,0:13:30.959
uh it’s good to see real heroes out
0:13:30.240,0:13:33.440
there like that
0:13:30.959,0:13:34.000
absolutely so that was all we had for
0:13:33.440,0:13:36.320
our disney
0:13:34.000,0:13:48.000
detective we’ll be right back with our

pew pew
0:15:03.040,0:15:16.000

0:15:12.240,0:15:19.440
boy so poor gina
0:15:16.000,0:15:21.839
yeah well you know obviously there’s
0:15:19.440,0:15:22.639
there’s always some news going on about
0:15:21.839,0:15:26.320
uh
0:15:22.639,0:15:27.839
gina carano um so obviously you know she
0:15:26.320,0:15:30.240
lost her acting gig
0:15:27.839,0:15:31.519
on disney’s mandalorian the star wars
0:15:30.240,0:15:34.480
spin-off series
0:15:31.519,0:15:35.120
um after controversial tweets that went
0:15:34.480,0:15:39.040
out
0:15:35.120,0:15:41.440
um and it seems that you know the firing
0:15:39.040,0:15:42.560
by disney resulted in her losing out on
0:15:41.440,0:15:45.040
a lot of different
0:15:42.560,0:15:45.759
royalty potentials uh there was a
0:15:45.040,0:15:48.560
lucrative
0:15:45.759,0:15:51.279
funko pop deal it seems that was in the
0:15:48.560,0:15:54.639
works uh there were action figures
0:15:51.279,0:15:57.759
um of her character uh also
0:15:54.639,0:16:00.639
she was uh on a recent appearance of
0:15:57.759,0:16:02.880
running wild with bear grylls um that
0:16:00.639,0:16:04.800
was going to be part of the disney owned
0:16:02.880,0:16:06.399
national geographic channel and that
0:16:04.800,0:16:09.519
actually got shelved
0:16:06.399,0:16:11.519
so they already filmed it um
0:16:09.519,0:16:13.279
and then according to we got this
0:16:11.519,0:16:16.880
covered who quotes did
0:16:13.279,0:16:19.279
uh hollywood insider daniel uh rickman
0:16:16.880,0:16:21.199
uh carano’s firing cost even more
0:16:19.279,0:16:22.079
opportunities than had been initially
0:16:21.199,0:16:23.759
reported
0:16:22.079,0:16:25.839
so the outlet had claimed that her
0:16:23.759,0:16:26.639
character was being set up to obviously
0:16:25.839,0:16:30.160
appear
0:16:26.639,0:16:32.160
in the star wars show rangers um
0:16:30.160,0:16:34.399
of the new republic and they also
0:16:32.160,0:16:36.399
claimed that she was primed to voice her
0:16:34.399,0:16:38.000
character in the star wars animated
0:16:36.399,0:16:40.320
series the bad batch
0:16:38.000,0:16:41.519
and obviously both of those shows are on
0:16:40.320,0:16:43.920
disney plus
0:16:41.519,0:16:45.360
so obviously all of those appearances
0:16:43.920,0:16:48.480
went up in smoke
0:16:45.360,0:16:52.480
and she’s kind of you know vanished from
0:16:48.480,0:16:54.959
the star wars uh the star wars galaxy
0:16:52.480,0:16:55.839
but however you know she still has a
0:16:54.959,0:16:58.160
couple of fans
0:16:55.839,0:16:59.759
still remaining that might get to see
0:16:58.160,0:17:02.480
her in some sort of space
0:16:59.759,0:17:04.079
opera so it seems that uh we got this
0:17:02.480,0:17:05.919
covered has also reported
0:17:04.079,0:17:07.679
that she’s in that she’s actually
0:17:05.919,0:17:11.199
developing her own
0:17:07.679,0:17:13.280
star wars type project uh that
0:17:11.199,0:17:16.319
uh outlet claims that the project is
0:17:13.280,0:17:19.439
likely uh to be in partnership
0:17:16.319,0:17:22.240
with uh ben shapiro’s
0:17:19.439,0:17:24.079
company who uh it’s the daily wire
0:17:22.240,0:17:25.679
company and they’re actually the ones
0:17:24.079,0:17:29.520
that signed her
0:17:25.679,0:17:30.240
to a contract when she got fired and let
0:17:29.520,0:17:33.440
go
0:17:30.240,0:17:34.160
um so supposedly she’s also working on
0:17:33.440,0:17:38.160
some sort of
0:17:34.160,0:17:41.600
john wick style project as well so
0:17:38.160,0:17:44.320
no news as of what it really is
0:17:41.600,0:17:46.080
how bad it’s gonna be because i just
0:17:44.320,0:17:49.280
have visions of it
0:17:46.080,0:17:52.799
being not even like a bee movie well
0:17:49.280,0:17:56.000
that’s the funny thing like most
0:17:52.799,0:17:58.000
most actors and actresses one of the
0:17:56.000,0:18:01.039
things that they fear the most is being
0:17:58.000,0:18:03.840
type casted and you you
0:18:01.039,0:18:05.440
you lose this position in star wars and
0:18:03.840,0:18:06.799
the first thing that you decide that
0:18:05.440,0:18:09.919
you’re going to do
0:18:06.799,0:18:13.039
is a star wars-like clone yeah
0:18:09.919,0:18:15.520
that sounds like a lot of desperation
0:18:13.039,0:18:17.280
and a lot of regret for losing you know
0:18:15.520,0:18:17.679
yeah i could see that killing the golden
0:18:17.280,0:18:20.720
goose
0:18:17.679,0:18:24.000
right you know and and really
0:18:20.720,0:18:26.320
all it took was just self-control
0:18:24.000,0:18:28.160
yeah that’s all it took yeah you’re
0:18:26.320,0:18:28.880
welcome to have your views disney
0:18:28.160,0:18:30.480
doesn’t care
0:18:28.880,0:18:32.240
they’re not trying to dictate the views
0:18:30.480,0:18:34.799
that you have
0:18:32.240,0:18:35.600
but as a representative of their company
0:18:34.799,0:18:37.840
right
0:18:35.600,0:18:39.039
when you voice controversial things
0:18:37.840,0:18:41.039
publicly
0:18:39.039,0:18:42.400
you’re doing that as a representative of
0:18:41.039,0:18:44.480
the company right
0:18:42.400,0:18:45.760
and all you had to do was keep your
0:18:44.480,0:18:48.080
mouth shutter keep your
0:18:45.760,0:18:49.840
your twitter feed quieter or whatever or
0:18:48.080,0:18:51.760
just get off of twitter
0:18:49.840,0:18:54.320
like if if you know you’re going to have
0:18:51.760,0:18:57.280
such a hard time
0:18:54.320,0:18:58.240
you know where you just delete it just
0:18:57.280,0:19:00.799
get rid of it
0:18:58.240,0:19:02.480
so that it’s you don’t have to
0:19:00.799,0:19:06.240
jeopardize your entire
0:19:02.480,0:19:07.679
career yeah just to make
0:19:06.240,0:19:09.280
politically charged statements and the
0:19:07.679,0:19:12.559
thing is and i’m sure
0:19:09.280,0:19:13.360
there are plenty of celebrities out
0:19:12.559,0:19:16.400
there
0:19:13.360,0:19:19.520
who have never voiced
0:19:16.400,0:19:21.360
what their opinion is right uh uh you
0:19:19.520,0:19:21.919
know politically because they probably
0:19:21.360,0:19:24.640
know
0:19:21.919,0:19:26.400
well if i say that i’m this i’m going to
0:19:24.640,0:19:28.799
lose all these families
0:19:26.400,0:19:30.960
guarantee you she had a code of conduct
0:19:28.799,0:19:32.880
clause in her contract oh absolutely so
0:19:30.960,0:19:35.039
i’m sorry even like this was a
0:19:32.880,0:19:36.240
shock to her or a surprise to her right
0:19:35.039,0:19:38.080
she knew that if she did
0:19:36.240,0:19:39.600
things that were outside of that code of
0:19:38.080,0:19:40.480
conduct there was going to be
0:19:39.600,0:19:42.720
consequences
0:19:40.480,0:19:44.559
right and now you’re trying to come back
0:19:42.720,0:19:46.799
with a star wars rip-off
0:19:44.559,0:19:48.960
yeah that’s just sad at this point
0:19:46.799,0:19:53.039
that’s just sad
0:19:48.960,0:19:54.640
anyway tell us about the beard
0:19:53.039,0:19:56.559
so it seems there are some new
0:19:54.640,0:19:59.120
behind-the-scene images
0:19:56.559,0:20:01.440
for the obi-wan kenobi series that shows
0:19:59.120,0:20:04.080
ewan mcgregor sporting a new look
0:20:01.440,0:20:06.080
as he gets ready to start production the
0:20:04.080,0:20:09.200
disney plus series will take place
0:20:06.080,0:20:12.559
10 years after revenge of the sith
0:20:09.200,0:20:14.559
um is so it’s setting you know mid
0:20:12.559,0:20:16.720
midway between the prequel and the
0:20:14.559,0:20:19.520
original star wars trilogies
0:20:16.720,0:20:20.000
filming the obi-wan uh show is set to
0:20:19.520,0:20:22.159
begin
0:20:20.000,0:20:24.400
filming this month because of the
0:20:22.159,0:20:25.200
significant time jump from revenge of
0:20:24.400,0:20:28.000
the sith
0:20:25.200,0:20:29.120
the obi-wan seen in the new show may be
0:20:28.000,0:20:31.679
a good deal different
0:20:29.120,0:20:32.480
than mcgregor’s last turn as the
0:20:31.679,0:20:35.360
character
0:20:32.480,0:20:35.919
as a midway point between episodes four
0:20:35.360,0:20:39.120
and
0:20:35.919,0:20:40.000
uh three and four obi-wan should start
0:20:39.120,0:20:42.400
to show
0:20:40.000,0:20:44.640
the jedi transition into the older more
0:20:42.400,0:20:48.000
reserved version which was portrayed by
0:20:44.640,0:20:51.200
alec uh guinness um but still
0:20:48.000,0:20:53.919
mcgregor’s obi-wan is no old man yet
0:20:51.200,0:20:55.280
and he’s likely seen plenty of action in
0:20:53.919,0:20:57.840
the upcoming series
0:20:55.280,0:20:58.720
including a promise showdown with darth
0:20:57.840,0:21:00.799
vader
0:20:58.720,0:21:02.000
two new behind-the-scenes images were
0:21:00.799,0:21:05.360
tweeted by star
0:21:02.000,0:21:08.400
wars espana which showed
0:21:05.360,0:21:10.159
mcgregor’s new obi-wan look which is a
0:21:08.400,0:21:11.520
bit more rugged than his prequel
0:21:10.159,0:21:14.000
appearance
0:21:11.520,0:21:16.720
that makes sense given that the show
0:21:14.000,0:21:19.840
will find obi-wan in exile on tatooine
0:21:16.720,0:21:21.919
as he watches over young luke skywalker
0:21:19.840,0:21:24.080
so you can see you know on the screen he
0:21:21.919,0:21:27.120
you know looks a little scruffy
0:21:24.080,0:21:28.559
you know he’s oh he’s a nomad right well
0:21:27.120,0:21:32.640
yeah i was gonna say he’s
0:21:28.559,0:21:36.880
you know he’s he’s in lockdown not
0:21:32.640,0:21:38.960
tattoo um so the look isn’t complete
0:21:36.880,0:21:40.480
obviously without the costume of course
0:21:38.960,0:21:44.240
but it gives a glimpse
0:21:40.480,0:21:47.039
at the mountain hermit aesthetic obi-wan
0:21:44.240,0:21:48.000
uh we’ll be wearing in the dune sea on
0:21:47.039,0:21:50.000
the dune sea
0:21:48.000,0:21:51.039
uh one of the biggest questions for the
0:21:50.000,0:21:52.960
obi-wan show is
0:21:51.039,0:21:56.240
why the jedi’s leave tatooine in the
0:21:52.960,0:21:58.799
first place it seems highly likely
0:21:56.240,0:22:00.640
unlikely that he’ll be stationed on the
0:21:58.799,0:22:01.280
desert planet for the duration of the
0:22:00.640,0:22:03.679
story
0:22:01.280,0:22:05.440
but it would take a pretty big event to
0:22:03.679,0:22:07.840
get him to abandon
0:22:05.440,0:22:09.120
obviously looking his vigil of looking
0:22:07.840,0:22:11.280
over luke
0:22:09.120,0:22:14.400
that could mean maybe helping out other
0:22:11.280,0:22:17.039
jedi survivors of order 66
0:22:14.400,0:22:18.640
um or maybe working with the rebel
0:22:17.039,0:22:19.919
alliance whatever the
0:22:18.640,0:22:21.600
you know the cause it sounds like
0:22:19.919,0:22:23.919
obi-wan will be running into some
0:22:21.600,0:22:27.120
imperial entanglements
0:22:23.919,0:22:27.600
disney recently announced uh that there
0:22:27.120,0:22:30.320
were
0:22:27.600,0:22:31.520
uh you know the extensive uh the
0:22:30.320,0:22:34.559
extensive
0:22:31.520,0:22:37.280
supporting cast list um of
0:22:34.559,0:22:38.400
you know the the various characters uh
0:22:37.280,0:22:40.480
that they haven’t mentioned
0:22:38.400,0:22:42.080
who they are they just mentioned some of
0:22:40.480,0:22:45.280
the the different actors
0:22:42.080,0:22:48.480
um so now we we just have to kind of
0:22:45.280,0:22:49.280
wait and see so come on start filming
0:22:48.480,0:22:53.600
already
0:22:49.280,0:22:55.919
you know it is worth mentioning uh that
0:22:53.600,0:22:57.120
baby yoda could show up in here in the
0:22:55.919,0:23:00.559
time frame
0:22:57.120,0:23:01.840
that’s true because they’re only going
0:23:00.559,0:23:04.880
to be 30 years
0:23:01.840,0:23:07.360
before mandalorian at this point
0:23:04.880,0:23:08.240
right and he’s 50 in the man so he could
0:23:07.360,0:23:10.240
be like a
0:23:08.240,0:23:12.240
really baby you right because he could
0:23:10.240,0:23:14.559
be he’d be 20. oh my god could you
0:23:12.240,0:23:17.679
imagine how cute
0:23:14.559,0:23:21.120
so you have baby yoda you have
0:23:17.679,0:23:24.480
ahsoka right show up right uh you have
0:23:21.120,0:23:26.880
any of the characters from rebels
0:23:24.480,0:23:27.520
would still be around right most for the
0:23:26.880,0:23:30.400
most part
0:23:27.520,0:23:31.520
right right uh you have calcus who shows
0:23:30.400,0:23:34.240
up from the
0:23:31.520,0:23:36.320
video game jedi phone okay or you can
0:23:34.240,0:23:39.840
have you know given the
0:23:36.320,0:23:41.679
array of participants they’ve already
0:23:39.840,0:23:43.520
announced in the cast true you could
0:23:41.679,0:23:43.919
have entirely new characters that are
0:23:43.520,0:23:46.000
going to
0:23:43.919,0:23:49.360
and that’s what i’m hoping is that
0:23:46.000,0:23:50.880
there’s you know some new characters or
0:23:49.360,0:23:52.960
and i think we’ve we’ve talked about
0:23:50.880,0:23:55.840
this before or characters who like
0:23:52.960,0:23:56.880
we kind of knew of but didn’t play a
0:23:55.840,0:24:00.159
major role
0:23:56.880,0:24:02.880
in any of the the movies so kind of
0:24:00.159,0:24:04.159
you know these sub cat you know charac
0:24:02.880,0:24:06.000
characters that
0:24:04.159,0:24:07.279
here we’re gonna find out they did all
0:24:06.000,0:24:10.080
of this to make
0:24:07.279,0:24:12.480
this happen and this time period that
0:24:10.080,0:24:15.039
they’re setting this into is also a time
0:24:12.480,0:24:18.480
period where the empire is on the rise
0:24:15.039,0:24:21.279
vader’s hunting down the remaining jedi
0:24:18.480,0:24:23.520
get killed during order 66 right right
0:24:21.279,0:24:26.720
and there’s been a lot of speculation
0:24:23.520,0:24:28.159
around aidan christensen’s interaction
0:24:26.720,0:24:30.640
here as darth vader
0:24:28.159,0:24:31.679
right suggesting that there will be a
0:24:30.640,0:24:33.760
real time
0:24:31.679,0:24:36.320
you know not a flashback but a real-time
0:24:33.760,0:24:38.400
confrontation between the two of them
0:24:36.320,0:24:40.159
which should be interesting to rectify
0:24:38.400,0:24:40.640
that in some of the lines from a new
0:24:40.159,0:24:42.880
hope
0:24:40.640,0:24:44.640
right right so should be interesting
0:24:42.880,0:24:45.600
he’s definitely they’re they’re shooting
0:24:44.640,0:24:47.039
they’re going to start shooting this
0:24:45.600,0:24:49.360
month
0:24:47.039,0:24:50.640
and he’s got the beard he doesn’t
0:24:49.360,0:24:53.120
doesn’t have to spend a lot of time in
0:24:50.640,0:24:56.400
the wardrobe
0:24:53.120,0:24:59.520
quarantine was good to good to obi-wan
0:24:56.400,0:25:00.240
so yeah yeah that’s good i’m excited to
0:24:59.520,0:25:02.559
see this
0:25:00.240,0:25:03.279
um i’m sure more news will be coming out
0:25:02.559,0:25:07.039
of this
0:25:03.279,0:25:10.080
yep they’re not they don’t seem to be as
0:25:07.039,0:25:12.000
strict on security and leaks as they
0:25:10.080,0:25:13.600
tend to be with the movies so a lot
0:25:12.000,0:25:15.760
more information does seem to come out
0:25:13.600,0:25:17.200
of the tv shows well and and that’s the
0:25:15.760,0:25:19.679
thing too with
0:25:17.200,0:25:20.799
you know with the mandalorian we really
0:25:19.679,0:25:22.799
didn’t know
0:25:20.799,0:25:24.880
not the first season second season a lot
0:25:22.799,0:25:27.760
more came out right there was still
0:25:24.880,0:25:28.320
some you know secrecy but not like
0:25:27.760,0:25:29.840
really
0:25:28.320,0:25:31.360
boba fett was going to be in there we
0:25:29.840,0:25:33.039
knew ahsoka was going to like
0:25:31.360,0:25:34.720
right i knew these people are it was
0:25:33.039,0:25:38.000
just a matter of when are they
0:25:34.720,0:25:38.960
and how are they you know well and i
0:25:38.000,0:25:41.039
think the problem with
0:25:38.960,0:25:42.559
a circle was that you know the only
0:25:41.039,0:25:43.840
reason she was in there was because
0:25:42.559,0:25:45.760
they needed to bring her back so she
0:25:43.840,0:25:47.039
could get their own show right because
0:25:45.760,0:25:49.840
everyone gets your own spin-offs
0:25:47.039,0:25:50.320
right once you well unless you’re you
0:25:49.840,0:25:53.440
know
0:25:50.320,0:25:56.960
gina unless you’re wow really
0:25:53.440,0:25:57.919
that’s too soon that’s long i’m just
0:25:56.960,0:26:01.120
saying
0:25:57.919,0:26:03.279
she could have anyway screw that up
0:26:01.120,0:26:05.120
that’s all we had for tales from the
0:26:03.279,0:26:06.480
edge of the galaxy
0:26:05.120,0:26:11.280
we’ll be right back with our

[Music]
0:27:26.799,0:27:30.399
go for entertainment news so this was
0:27:29.200,0:27:32.799
kind of you know
0:27:30.399,0:27:33.520
depressing news so it seems that disney
0:27:32.799,0:27:36.559
plus has
0:27:33.520,0:27:39.360
opted not to order a second season of
0:27:36.559,0:27:42.240
the space race series the right stuff
0:27:39.360,0:27:43.760
the mercury seven period drama which
0:27:42.240,0:27:47.200
starred patrick
0:27:43.760,0:27:49.440
adams originated as a national geograph
0:27:47.200,0:27:50.240
at national geographic before it
0:27:49.440,0:27:53.440
launched
0:27:50.240,0:27:56.320
as a disney plus original last october
0:27:53.440,0:27:58.320
it is disney plus first scripted series
0:27:56.320,0:28:00.799
that has actually been cancelled
0:27:58.320,0:28:02.080
uh warner brothers television the studio
0:28:00.799,0:28:04.559
behind the right stuff is
0:28:02.080,0:28:07.039
actually shopping it to other outlets
0:28:04.559,0:28:10.880
with warner media’s sibling tnt
0:28:07.039,0:28:13.039
and hbo max in consideration um
0:28:10.880,0:28:14.840
so one of the things that was mentioned
0:28:13.039,0:28:17.679
in the article was that the
0:28:14.840,0:28:19.919
cast
0:28:17.679,0:28:21.279
the options on the cast were actually
0:28:19.919,0:28:24.480
expiring
0:28:21.279,0:28:27.600
the day uh before this article came out
0:28:24.480,0:28:30.799
so that might have had kind of some
0:28:27.600,0:28:33.520
you know part of why the news came out
0:28:30.799,0:28:35.520
so there is you know a major incentive
0:28:33.520,0:28:37.600
for warner brothers and its parent
0:28:35.520,0:28:38.799
uh warner media to try and keep the
0:28:37.600,0:28:40.880
right stuff going
0:28:38.799,0:28:42.559
it seems that in november the series
0:28:40.880,0:28:45.600
which is produced by
0:28:42.559,0:28:49.360
by leonardo dicaprio’s uh
0:28:45.600,0:28:52.080
apian way was given 13.7 million dollars
0:28:49.360,0:28:54.640
to move from florida to california
0:28:52.080,0:28:55.279
for season two and that is the fourth
0:28:54.640,0:28:58.399
highest
0:28:55.279,0:29:01.600
relocating incentive ever awarded
0:28:58.399,0:29:03.120
under the cfc program so disney’s
0:29:01.600,0:29:06.240
decision not to proceed
0:29:03.120,0:29:08.640
with the second season which was adapted
0:29:06.240,0:29:09.120
from tom wolf’s best-selling non-fiction
0:29:08.640,0:29:12.240
account
0:29:09.120,0:29:15.200
of the early days of the space program
0:29:12.240,0:29:18.000
came after a lengthy discussion with
0:29:15.200,0:29:20.880
warner brothers television
0:29:18.000,0:29:22.960
basically it sounded like the second
0:29:20.880,0:29:25.679
season was actually going to be focused
0:29:22.960,0:29:28.640
on new missions from the 1980s
0:29:25.679,0:29:30.159
and obviously with a different cast of
0:29:28.640,0:29:32.000
characters
0:29:30.159,0:29:33.600
so the right stuff which is believed to
0:29:32.000,0:29:36.000
have been a modest
0:29:33.600,0:29:39.520
performer for disney plus did not break
0:29:36.000,0:29:42.559
into nielsen’s top 10 streaming ratings
0:29:39.520,0:29:45.440
marked nat geo’s first scripted um
0:29:42.559,0:29:46.320
original series for disney plus it was
0:29:45.440,0:29:48.320
disney plus
0:29:46.320,0:29:49.600
second original drama after the
0:29:48.320,0:29:51.440
mandalorian
0:29:49.600,0:29:52.880
and provided the platform with a
0:29:51.440,0:29:55.360
high-end original
0:29:52.880,0:29:56.240
uh scripted series in the fall when
0:29:55.360,0:30:00.000
streamers
0:29:56.240,0:30:02.080
fell to the effect of the coronavirus um
0:30:00.000,0:30:04.240
you know related production shutdowns
0:30:02.080,0:30:06.159
and and you know different shows that
0:30:04.240,0:30:08.240
that weren’t being produced this one was
0:30:06.159,0:30:11.200
had already been done obviously
0:30:08.240,0:30:12.880
um so the show was actually set in 1959
0:30:11.200,0:30:15.360
it was eight episodes
0:30:12.880,0:30:17.919
um and it examined what you know
0:30:15.360,0:30:18.640
basically became america’s first reality
0:30:17.919,0:30:21.039
show
0:30:18.640,0:30:22.000
um as ambitious astronauts and their
0:30:21.039,0:30:24.000
families became
0:30:22.000,0:30:25.520
instant celebrities in a competition
0:30:24.000,0:30:26.720
that would kill them or make them
0:30:25.520,0:30:28.799
immortal
0:30:26.720,0:30:29.919
obviously the you know two of the
0:30:28.799,0:30:32.480
astronauts
0:30:29.919,0:30:33.919
were at the center of the story and that
0:30:32.480,0:30:37.200
was john glenn
0:30:33.919,0:30:39.440
and alan shepard um and
0:30:37.200,0:30:40.559
obviously you had the rest of the
0:30:39.440,0:30:44.000
mercury seven
0:30:40.559,0:30:46.960
uh cast uh of astronauts as well
0:30:44.000,0:30:48.159
along with uh their wives uh you know
0:30:46.960,0:30:51.360
and families
0:30:48.159,0:30:54.240
so again they’re still looking to
0:30:51.360,0:30:56.880
to shop this around so maybe it’ll come
0:30:54.240,0:30:59.679
back on another platform or
0:30:56.880,0:31:01.200
maybe it was a a one and done you know
0:30:59.679,0:31:04.399
this doesn’t really surprise me at all
0:31:01.200,0:31:06.399
because it was a show we liked and every
0:31:04.399,0:31:07.519
time we like we have a reputation of
0:31:06.399,0:31:10.080
shutting shows down
0:31:07.519,0:31:11.200
as soon as we like them true true same
0:31:10.080,0:31:13.760
thing with restaurants
0:31:11.200,0:31:15.360
you know which if anything the pandemic
0:31:13.760,0:31:16.080
has saved a lot of restaurants right
0:31:15.360,0:31:18.320
because we don’t
0:31:16.080,0:31:19.279
we don’t go out yeah but yeah it was a
0:31:18.320,0:31:23.039
good show it was
0:31:19.279,0:31:26.559
it was very drama-centric
0:31:23.039,0:31:26.960
yeah um so you kind of had to sift
0:31:26.559,0:31:29.679
through
0:31:26.960,0:31:30.240
some of the creative right drama that
0:31:29.679,0:31:32.640
they put
0:31:30.240,0:31:34.480
in there to kind of pull out the
0:31:32.640,0:31:35.600
meaningful parts the historically
0:31:34.480,0:31:37.039
accurate parts
0:31:35.600,0:31:39.760
right and it would have been interesting
0:31:37.039,0:31:41.519
to kind of see where
0:31:39.760,0:31:43.760
you know they went from there obviously
0:31:41.519,0:31:46.399
there’s so much more
0:31:43.760,0:31:47.440
story you know to tell because mercury 7
0:31:46.399,0:31:49.360
was just
0:31:47.440,0:31:50.640
the start of it and you know that was
0:31:49.360,0:31:53.679
really what
0:31:50.640,0:31:56.559
you know the the movie the right stuff
0:31:53.679,0:31:57.279
focused on you know but then you have
0:31:56.559,0:32:01.120
you know the
0:31:57.279,0:32:04.159
the series uh that came out uh years ago
0:32:01.120,0:32:06.799
um uh earth to the moon
0:32:04.159,0:32:08.799
right and that was you know that was a
0:32:06.799,0:32:10.320
terrific series and that was
0:32:08.799,0:32:12.159
done i don’t even remember how many
0:32:10.320,0:32:14.320
episodes that was that was a good couple
0:32:12.159,0:32:16.480
that was the ron howard tom hanks won it
0:32:14.320,0:32:18.240
that came out after apollo 13. right
0:32:16.480,0:32:20.159
right so you had you know so they’ve
0:32:18.240,0:32:22.159
done all these stories
0:32:20.159,0:32:23.200
before it’s not like the story hasn’t
0:32:22.159,0:32:26.000
been told right
0:32:23.200,0:32:28.000
but it was yeah this was a fresh take on
0:32:26.000,0:32:30.159
it it showed you things that
0:32:28.000,0:32:31.760
right you didn’t see before like the
0:32:30.159,0:32:33.519
fact that
0:32:31.760,0:32:35.039
one of the interesting things in in
0:32:33.519,0:32:35.840
early on in the series is that these
0:32:35.039,0:32:39.120
guys were
0:32:35.840,0:32:41.600
were all test pilots you know they were
0:32:39.120,0:32:42.399
hot shots and and and celebrities in
0:32:41.600,0:32:44.799
their own right
0:32:42.399,0:32:46.320
right and when they show up at nasa
0:32:44.799,0:32:48.480
which is an organization that didn’t
0:32:46.320,0:32:50.159
exist you see the early days where it’s
0:32:48.480,0:32:52.320
literally just a conference room
0:32:50.159,0:32:54.159
right and these guys show up on a
0:32:52.320,0:32:54.960
military base and they’re told they need
0:32:54.159,0:32:58.080
to sleep in
0:32:54.960,0:32:59.840
in bunk beds you know in one room right
0:32:58.080,0:33:01.440
and they’re like man we’re not gonna do
0:32:59.840,0:33:02.320
this and they go over and they basically
0:33:01.440,0:33:04.240
take over
0:33:02.320,0:33:06.320
take over account right they take over
0:33:04.240,0:33:08.880
the motel and it’s like that okay comes
0:33:06.320,0:33:10.320
you know astronaut central there and
0:33:08.880,0:33:12.960
that really happened
0:33:10.320,0:33:14.880
you know everyone remembers uh seeing
0:33:12.960,0:33:16.000
the footage of these guys driving around
0:33:14.880,0:33:17.600
in their corvettes and they all got
0:33:16.000,0:33:18.240
corvettes well they show you the story
0:33:17.600,0:33:20.080
behind
0:33:18.240,0:33:21.679
behind how do they negotiate the core
0:33:20.080,0:33:23.200
events and it was a local deal that when
0:33:21.679,0:33:25.200
they were in florida
0:33:23.200,0:33:26.559
this local dealer gave it to them as a
0:33:25.200,0:33:29.519
as a marketing promotion
0:33:26.559,0:33:29.840
right right um so a lot of that stuff
0:33:29.519,0:33:31.279
for
0:33:29.840,0:33:33.200
you there’s a lot of little little
0:33:31.279,0:33:33.840
morsels in there that nobody ever really
0:33:33.200,0:33:35.519
knew about
0:33:33.840,0:33:37.760
right or that you can’t put in a
0:33:35.519,0:33:39.279
two-hour movie but you can put in an
0:33:37.760,0:33:42.159
eight hour
0:33:39.279,0:33:43.519
series right exactly so it’s a good show
0:33:42.159,0:33:44.960
you know hopefully they do
0:33:43.519,0:33:46.480
get picked up somewhere else i think
0:33:44.960,0:33:48.559
there’s a lot of potential left in there
0:33:46.480,0:33:51.440
and it would be nice to see
0:33:48.559,0:33:52.640
you know more recent stuff because you
0:33:51.440,0:33:56.080
really haven’t
0:33:52.640,0:33:56.720
seen too many shows wink wink nudge
0:33:56.080,0:34:00.080
nudge
0:33:56.720,0:34:03.679
that have talked about the 80s
0:34:00.080,0:34:05.760
you know 90s even you know space
0:34:03.679,0:34:06.799
exploration you know so it would be nice
0:34:05.760,0:34:08.480
to kind of
0:34:06.799,0:34:10.879
see that because again they’ve done a
0:34:08.480,0:34:12.560
lot of the okay here’s how we got to the
0:34:10.879,0:34:14.159
you know here’s the mercury seven here’s
0:34:12.560,0:34:16.079
the the apollo
0:34:14.159,0:34:17.200
missions gemini and apollo missions have
0:34:16.079,0:34:19.919
been done
0:34:17.200,0:34:20.800
to right and after that they haven’t
0:34:19.919,0:34:23.679
done
0:34:20.800,0:34:24.240
you know anything else so it would be
0:34:23.679,0:34:26.240
nice
0:34:24.240,0:34:28.720
you know if maybe if they were able to
0:34:26.240,0:34:30.159
come back they could start off with
0:34:28.720,0:34:31.679
well and i think a lot of it has to do
0:34:30.159,0:34:32.240
with the fact that after that our space
0:34:31.679,0:34:34.480
program
0:34:32.240,0:34:35.679
was truly lackluster we didn’t get out
0:34:34.480,0:34:38.000
of earth orbit
0:34:35.679,0:34:38.960
right you had a shuttle program that was
0:34:38.000,0:34:41.359
by and large a
0:34:38.960,0:34:43.040
failure from what it was designed to be
0:34:41.359,0:34:46.000
you had a couple of tragedies
0:34:43.040,0:34:47.119
that occurred really yeah it was not a
0:34:46.000,0:34:49.440
period of time
0:34:47.119,0:34:51.359
that true that nasa really wants to
0:34:49.440,0:34:53.760
highlight yeah so i have to imagine
0:34:51.359,0:34:55.520
because of that you don’t get a lot of
0:34:53.760,0:34:57.680
cooperation from nasa or the us
0:34:55.520,0:35:00.400
government yeah whereas
0:34:57.680,0:35:02.160
you know apollo was was the heyday of
0:35:00.400,0:35:03.119
nasa and everybody wants to talk about
0:35:02.160,0:35:06.400
the good old days
0:35:03.119,0:35:08.240
right right but in reality the
0:35:06.400,0:35:10.880
the technology and the advancements we
0:35:08.240,0:35:12.640
made during the 70s and 80s
0:35:10.880,0:35:13.920
really carried us to where we are now
0:35:12.640,0:35:15.839
and i think
0:35:13.920,0:35:17.280
i think with the commercialization of
0:35:15.839,0:35:19.839
space and i don’t want to get off topic
0:35:17.280,0:35:22.320
but the commercialization of space now
0:35:19.839,0:35:24.000
gives us an appreciation for what nasa
0:35:22.320,0:35:24.720
did in the 70s and 80s so i think it’s a
0:35:24.000,0:35:27.839
great
0:35:24.720,0:35:29.280
period you’re right to to kind of
0:35:27.839,0:35:31.760
highlight that yeah
0:35:29.280,0:35:32.960
but even though uh right stuff got the
0:35:31.760,0:35:35.359
boot
0:35:32.960,0:35:36.240
we we do have good news about another
0:35:35.359,0:35:38.160
show that uh
0:35:36.240,0:35:39.280
is a favorite of ours so it seems that
0:35:38.160,0:35:42.000
the show runner
0:35:39.280,0:35:43.680
for the vampire parody show what we do
0:35:42.000,0:35:47.440
in the shadows has teased
0:35:43.680,0:35:48.880
that uh something completely different
0:35:47.440,0:35:50.560
is the direction that they’re looking
0:35:48.880,0:35:52.640
for the third season
0:35:50.560,0:35:54.960
so the third outing for the show was
0:35:52.640,0:35:56.960
actually confirmed last year just after
0:35:54.960,0:36:00.480
the second season started to air
0:35:56.960,0:36:03.040
on fx based on the 2014
0:36:00.480,0:36:05.280
film of the same name the show follows
0:36:03.040,0:36:07.440
three vampires in new york city who have
0:36:05.280,0:36:08.480
been roommates for hundreds and hundreds
0:36:07.440,0:36:10.640
of years
0:36:08.480,0:36:12.000
so it seems they had done a virtual
0:36:10.640,0:36:14.079
panel
0:36:12.000,0:36:15.359
back at the end of march and the
0:36:14.079,0:36:18.160
showrunner
0:36:15.359,0:36:20.160
executive producer paul sims and the
0:36:18.160,0:36:22.640
executive producer
0:36:20.160,0:36:24.560
stephanie robinson joined the show’s
0:36:22.640,0:36:27.280
cast over zoom to discuss
0:36:24.560,0:36:29.599
work on season three as well as
0:36:27.280,0:36:31.359
revealing that writing was well underway
0:36:29.599,0:36:35.280
for the new series
0:36:31.359,0:36:37.680
and that a february 2021 shooting date
0:36:35.280,0:36:40.720
had been pushed back to later this year
0:36:37.680,0:36:43.839
due to ongoing covid restrictions sims
0:36:40.720,0:36:45.520
teased uh what to expect from the new
0:36:43.839,0:36:47.839
edition of the show
0:36:45.520,0:36:49.280
he said as well as teasing a new
0:36:47.839,0:36:52.560
character who quote
0:36:49.280,0:36:53.359
somebody we all know and love robinson
0:36:52.560,0:36:55.599
said that
0:36:53.359,0:36:57.200
uh the critical reception of the show’s
0:36:55.599,0:37:00.800
second season’s
0:36:57.200,0:37:03.040
uh show that um showed that the bosses
0:37:00.800,0:37:04.079
can basically do whatever we want with
0:37:03.040,0:37:06.880
the show
0:37:04.079,0:37:08.560
they were also talking about how uh in
0:37:06.880,0:37:12.079
the second uh
0:37:08.560,0:37:15.280
uh season they had the whole um
0:37:12.079,0:37:19.359
alter ego of jackie daytona
0:37:15.280,0:37:22.000
uh that his you know the human of uh
0:37:19.359,0:37:22.880
that matt uh barry had played and that
0:37:22.000,0:37:24.960
there’s
0:37:22.880,0:37:26.480
you know a potential future for that
0:37:24.960,0:37:29.359
character but that
0:37:26.480,0:37:31.119
that episode uh robinson had said gave
0:37:29.359,0:37:33.520
us the opportunity to break
0:37:31.119,0:37:34.480
format from all the characters and push
0:37:33.520,0:37:37.599
the show into
0:37:34.480,0:37:38.960
new settings formats and characters to
0:37:37.599,0:37:42.000
explore
0:37:38.960,0:37:44.160
that we’ve established so
0:37:42.000,0:37:45.119
maybe not another jackie daytona
0:37:44.160,0:37:47.920
adventure but
0:37:45.119,0:37:50.079
something kind of completely different
0:37:47.920,0:37:53.119
and going in a different direction
0:37:50.079,0:37:53.520
um you know they basically said that you
0:37:53.119,0:37:55.680
know
0:37:53.520,0:37:56.640
discussing the show’s mockumentary
0:37:55.680,0:37:58.800
format
0:37:56.640,0:38:00.880
uh they you know they said that that
0:37:58.800,0:38:03.119
style grounds it and makes
0:38:00.880,0:38:04.720
you know the show work you know staten
0:38:03.119,0:38:07.359
island the neighbors and
0:38:04.720,0:38:08.640
everything needs to feel real and it’s
0:38:07.359,0:38:10.640
the magic of the show
0:38:08.640,0:38:12.400
because when it feels real the cast can
0:38:10.640,0:38:14.720
be big and surprising
0:38:12.400,0:38:15.599
and you know having you know some
0:38:14.720,0:38:18.480
reality
0:38:15.599,0:38:19.280
kind of tapered in kind of makes it work
0:38:18.480,0:38:22.320
um
0:38:19.280,0:38:24.079
so obviously it’s one of our favorite
0:38:22.320,0:38:26.240
shows we’re very excited
0:38:24.079,0:38:27.280
you know for it to come back and now you
0:38:26.240,0:38:29.680
know hmm
0:38:27.280,0:38:30.640
who’s this you know character who
0:38:29.680,0:38:34.400
everybody already
0:38:30.640,0:38:37.200
knows is it you know a
0:38:34.400,0:38:38.480
vampire everybody knows or is it maybe a
0:38:37.200,0:38:42.320
character from
0:38:38.480,0:38:45.920
the original movie maybe see i think
0:38:42.320,0:38:46.800
maybe they got one of the characters
0:38:45.920,0:38:48.640
from the
0:38:46.800,0:38:50.880
remember they had the the council
0:38:48.640,0:38:52.160
meeting right i think you might see
0:38:50.880,0:38:54.560
someone for the council
0:38:52.160,0:38:55.440
i could see that maybe a wesley snipes
0:38:54.560,0:38:58.320
might be coming
0:38:55.440,0:38:59.440
in as okay or something like that she
0:38:58.320,0:39:00.720
didn’t
0:38:59.440,0:39:02.640
because he didn’t make it because he was
0:39:00.720,0:39:03.920
having an issue with his skype right
0:39:02.640,0:39:05.760
right that would be awesome yeah that
0:39:03.920,0:39:07.360
would be that would be funny so
0:39:05.760,0:39:10.800
or tom cruise coming in
0:39:07.360,0:39:13.680
[Laughter]
0:39:10.800,0:39:14.640
brad pitt well or which one did because
0:39:13.680,0:39:16.480
one of them didn’t
0:39:14.640,0:39:18.560
live in an interview with a vampire i
0:39:16.480,0:39:19.040
can’t remember but yeah so that would be
0:39:18.560,0:39:21.040
kind of
0:39:19.040,0:39:22.240
you know and of course we have the other
0:39:21.040,0:39:24.720
spin-off right
0:39:22.240,0:39:26.400
you know as well which is the paranormal
0:39:24.720,0:39:29.040
but that one’s gonna take place
0:39:26.400,0:39:29.839
you know new zealand right uh so we got
0:39:29.040,0:39:32.079
you know two
0:39:29.839,0:39:33.760
two we might even see a return of you
0:39:32.079,0:39:35.599
know taika watiti or one of the other
0:39:33.760,0:39:38.720
characters from the movie itself
0:39:35.599,0:39:42.800
we could no serratu might show up no
0:39:38.720,0:39:45.839
wait he didn’t make make it yeah
0:39:42.800,0:39:46.960
yeah too soon anyway
0:39:45.839,0:39:49.680
so that was all we had for our
0:39:46.960,0:39:56.640
entertainment we’ll be right back with
0:39:49.680,0:39:59.040
our insightful picks of the week
0:39:56.640,0:40:00.079
go for your insightful pick so my
0:39:59.040,0:40:03.440
insightful pick
0:40:00.079,0:40:06.800
is a funny
0:40:03.440,0:40:07.839
heartfelt moving docu-series uh which is
0:40:06.800,0:40:11.119
on netflix
0:40:07.839,0:40:13.440
called warn stories and it’s about real
0:40:11.119,0:40:15.920
people who unpack the fascinating and
0:40:13.440,0:40:18.640
quirky stories around their most
0:40:15.920,0:40:20.960
meaningful pieces of clothing
0:40:18.640,0:40:22.800
spanning everything from dry cleaning to
0:40:20.960,0:40:25.680
outer space this eight part
0:40:22.800,0:40:26.240
look at people’s most treasured clothing
0:40:25.680,0:40:29.680
items
0:40:26.240,0:40:31.680
captures an expansive variety of life’s
0:40:29.680,0:40:35.760
experiences
0:40:31.680,0:40:38.079
early on in you know the the episodes
0:40:35.760,0:40:39.599
you get to meet people from all sorts of
0:40:38.079,0:40:42.319
backgrounds
0:40:39.599,0:40:44.560
every episode kind of focuses on a
0:40:42.319,0:40:48.079
different theme
0:40:44.560,0:40:52.560
and it’s actually adapted from writer um
0:40:48.079,0:40:55.040
emily spivak’s book of the same name
0:40:52.560,0:40:55.839
where um you know she interviewed
0:40:55.040,0:40:57.440
different people
0:40:55.839,0:40:59.280
and and talked you know had them talk
0:40:57.440,0:41:00.160
about you know various different
0:40:59.280,0:41:03.119
clothing
0:41:00.160,0:41:04.400
um you know there’s one woman who um
0:41:03.119,0:41:07.040
grew up with a
0:41:04.400,0:41:08.160
disability and you know was told she
0:41:07.040,0:41:11.760
could never do
0:41:08.160,0:41:14.880
you know certain things and 27 years ago
0:41:11.760,0:41:16.079
she got a job as a crossing guard and
0:41:14.880,0:41:17.920
she absolutely
0:41:16.079,0:41:19.680
loves it because she feels when she puts
0:41:17.920,0:41:22.960
on her uniform
0:41:19.680,0:41:25.760
she’s almost a superhero um
0:41:22.960,0:41:27.839
but yet she loves doing cosplay and
0:41:25.760,0:41:30.720
making all these costumes
0:41:27.839,0:41:31.359
because it lets her become somebody who
0:41:30.720,0:41:34.400
she’s
0:41:31.359,0:41:37.040
not you know normally um
0:41:34.400,0:41:38.240
so you have that then you know they
0:41:37.040,0:41:41.920
actually talked with
0:41:38.240,0:41:45.040
a nasa astronaut and you know what’s his
0:41:41.920,0:41:47.200
favorite clothing and he talks about how
0:41:45.040,0:41:48.560
you know he went to college and he went
0:41:47.200,0:41:51.520
to columbia
0:41:48.560,0:41:52.319
and he never thought about becoming an
0:41:51.520,0:41:54.720
astronaut
0:41:52.319,0:41:57.359
but you know it was kind of the start of
0:41:54.720,0:42:01.119
the the 80s and the programs and stuff
0:41:57.359,0:42:03.359
and how he applied multiple times
0:42:01.119,0:42:05.200
and you know never got an interview
0:42:03.359,0:42:06.960
finally gets an interview
0:42:05.200,0:42:08.720
and he goes for the physical and he
0:42:06.960,0:42:12.160
fails the eye
0:42:08.720,0:42:14.240
exam and he actually you know works on
0:42:12.160,0:42:17.520
it and trains his eyes
0:42:14.240,0:42:19.520
to you know to do better and he passes
0:42:17.520,0:42:21.920
and he ends up going up in
0:42:19.520,0:42:23.920
the space shuttle and it’s okay you can
0:42:21.920,0:42:25.839
bring one article of clothing what is it
0:42:23.920,0:42:28.160
that you bring and he brings his
0:42:25.839,0:42:29.359
columbia sweatshirt so it’s little
0:42:28.160,0:42:31.200
things
0:42:29.359,0:42:32.640
you know like that what was kind of
0:42:31.200,0:42:35.119
interesting was
0:42:32.640,0:42:37.200
um you know in in the one episode they
0:42:35.119,0:42:40.400
talked to a bunch of nudists
0:42:37.200,0:42:43.040
but yet you know it’s their sandals
0:42:40.400,0:42:44.960
or it’s a cover-up that you know they
0:42:43.040,0:42:47.839
they kind of cling to
0:42:44.960,0:42:49.520
um but talking about how freeing it is
0:42:47.839,0:42:52.640
not to be
0:42:49.520,0:42:53.280
constricted with with clothing um you
0:42:52.640,0:42:55.200
know
0:42:53.280,0:42:56.560
another gentleman he had a pair of
0:42:55.200,0:43:00.079
cowboy boots
0:42:56.560,0:43:03.520
and he ended up on the plane
0:43:00.079,0:43:06.640
that went down um in
0:43:03.520,0:43:10.480
the um in manhattan in
0:43:06.640,0:43:14.079
in the river sully you know sullivan was
0:43:10.480,0:43:16.319
you know he was on that flight and he
0:43:14.079,0:43:18.160
you know survived and he still has his
0:43:16.319,0:43:19.359
pair of boots that he kind of leaves in
0:43:18.160,0:43:22.240
his closet but
0:43:19.359,0:43:23.760
he still has that connection to them so
0:43:22.240,0:43:24.400
you know all these different types of
0:43:23.760,0:43:26.000
people
0:43:24.400,0:43:28.480
a couple of celebrities kind of
0:43:26.000,0:43:30.960
sprinkled in but you know for the most
0:43:28.480,0:43:32.160
case it’s you know everyday people
0:43:30.960,0:43:35.520
talking about
0:43:32.160,0:43:37.200
you know uh you know a coat or a jacket
0:43:35.520,0:43:41.119
or a tie or something
0:43:37.200,0:43:45.119
and it just kind of you know it’s just
0:43:41.119,0:43:48.160
a good feeling you know documentary
0:43:45.119,0:43:48.960
um you know just about the clothes that
0:43:48.160,0:43:51.440
we wear and
0:43:48.960,0:43:52.000
and the impact that it that it has on us
0:43:51.440,0:43:54.079
so
0:43:52.000,0:43:56.050
interesting pick thank you cool thank
0:43:54.079,0:43:59.000
you
0:43:56.050,0:44:01.599
[Applause]
0:43:59.000,0:44:05.280
[Music]
0:44:01.599,0:44:08.400
so my pick this week is actually a
0:44:05.280,0:44:11.040
kind of a re-pick we’ll say right um
0:44:08.400,0:44:12.640
when for all mankind came out in their
0:44:11.040,0:44:14.560
first season i did it but they’re back
0:44:12.640,0:44:17.440
for a second season
0:44:14.560,0:44:19.920
season two of the space drama picks up a
0:44:17.440,0:44:22.160
decade later in 1983.
0:44:19.920,0:44:24.079
it’s the height of the cold war and
0:44:22.160,0:44:25.040
tensions between the united states and
0:44:24.079,0:44:27.839
the ussr
0:44:25.040,0:44:28.640
are at their peak ronald reagan as
0:44:27.839,0:44:31.040
president
0:44:28.640,0:44:31.680
and the greater ambitions of science and
0:44:31.040,0:44:34.560
space
0:44:31.680,0:44:35.760
exploration are at threat of being
0:44:34.560,0:44:38.400
squandered
0:44:35.760,0:44:39.280
as the u.s and soviets go ahead go
0:44:38.400,0:44:42.480
head-to-head
0:44:39.280,0:44:45.760
to control sites rich in resources
0:44:42.480,0:44:47.680
on the moon the department of defense
0:44:45.760,0:44:50.000
has moved into mission control
0:44:47.680,0:44:52.960
and the militarization of nasa becomes
0:44:50.000,0:44:55.040
central to several character stories
0:44:52.960,0:44:56.640
some fight it some use it as an
0:44:55.040,0:44:57.839
opportunity to advance their own
0:44:56.640,0:45:00.079
interests
0:44:57.839,0:45:01.839
and some find themselves at the height
0:45:00.079,0:45:05.119
of a conflict that may lead
0:45:01.839,0:45:06.000
to nuclear war the level of drama in
0:45:05.119,0:45:08.800
season 2
0:45:06.000,0:45:10.640
is at the same fever pitch but at a more
0:45:08.800,0:45:12.560
global level now
0:45:10.640,0:45:14.000
instead of being confined to individual
0:45:12.560,0:45:15.200
struggles and interpersonal
0:45:14.000,0:45:17.920
relationships
0:45:15.200,0:45:20.000
which you still have we see a number of
0:45:17.920,0:45:21.359
outside obstacles that contribute to the
0:45:20.000,0:45:23.440
drama
0:45:21.359,0:45:26.000
having very much departed the known
0:45:23.440,0:45:28.960
world of nasa of the 1960s
0:45:26.000,0:45:30.319
by the end of season 1 the 10-year time
0:45:28.960,0:45:32.240
hop of season 2
0:45:30.319,0:45:33.599
allows the show to take on a whole new
0:45:32.240,0:45:35.760
personality
0:45:33.599,0:45:36.720
firmly grounded in fiction with a new
0:45:35.760,0:45:40.079
nostalgic
0:45:36.720,0:45:41.920
a few nostalgic historic references
0:45:40.079,0:45:43.920
not only has the space race been
0:45:41.920,0:45:47.359
affected from our known
0:45:43.920,0:45:50.319
historical timeline but we see a great
0:45:47.359,0:45:53.440
number of other things from politics
0:45:50.319,0:45:55.440
pop culture technology and industry have
0:45:53.440,0:45:57.599
also been affected by this alternate
0:45:55.440,0:46:00.240
timeline of events
0:45:57.599,0:46:01.119
most of the changes serve as colorful
0:46:00.240,0:46:03.280
backdrops
0:46:01.119,0:46:04.400
without having any real significance to
0:46:03.280,0:46:06.240
the plot
0:46:04.400,0:46:08.240
we see john lennon hasn’t been
0:46:06.240,0:46:11.599
assassinated in 1980
0:46:08.240,0:46:14.160
but pope john paul was a
0:46:11.599,0:46:16.640
1980 miracle on ice hockey game between
0:46:14.160,0:46:19.200
the us and the soviets never happens
0:46:16.640,0:46:20.560
and prince charles marries camilla he
0:46:19.200,0:46:22.640
doesn’t marry diana
0:46:20.560,0:46:24.240
interesting now none of those things
0:46:22.640,0:46:26.480
have a direct impact on the plot
0:46:24.240,0:46:28.079
right it’s just it’s just a way of them
0:46:26.480,0:46:29.839
showing you hey these events
0:46:28.079,0:46:31.200
happened but they didn’t happen the way
0:46:29.839,0:46:33.839
you thought they did
0:46:31.200,0:46:35.839
okay for the most part these have little
0:46:33.839,0:46:38.079
effect on a plot of the show and serve
0:46:35.839,0:46:40.160
more as familiar references to land
0:46:38.079,0:46:42.079
credence to this time period
0:46:40.160,0:46:44.000
much like a reference to star trek the
0:46:42.079,0:46:45.040
wrath of khan just being released in
0:46:44.000,0:46:47.760
theaters
0:46:45.040,0:46:50.160
pop culture references designed to act
0:46:47.760,0:46:51.839
as anchor points in the timeline
0:46:50.160,0:46:54.319
and highlight the fact that this world
0:46:51.839,0:46:55.760
is different from reality
0:46:54.319,0:46:57.599
it’s an interesting attempt at
0:46:55.760,0:47:00.000
historical foreshadowing
0:46:57.599,0:47:01.440
where the audience knows what happens in
0:47:00.000,0:47:04.079
the time period
0:47:01.440,0:47:05.040
but you don’t quite know if it happens
0:47:04.079,0:47:07.680
in the show
0:47:05.040,0:47:09.040
as it does in real life it makes for an
0:47:07.680,0:47:12.480
interesting mix of drama
0:47:09.040,0:47:13.359
and seeding possible plot twists later
0:47:12.480,0:47:17.599
on
0:47:13.359,0:47:21.280
uh i’ve been very impressed with the um
0:47:17.599,0:47:24.640
the second season so far i’m about
0:47:21.280,0:47:26.480
six episodes in i want to say okay and i
0:47:24.640,0:47:29.359
think it’s a 10 episode season so i’m a
0:47:26.480,0:47:31.359
little past the midway point
0:47:29.359,0:47:33.440
what was what’s interesting is they sort
0:47:31.359,0:47:36.960
of set the tone early on with a couple
0:47:33.440,0:47:39.599
of events and those events
0:47:36.960,0:47:40.160
don’t play out until much later in the
0:47:39.599,0:47:42.880
season
0:47:40.160,0:47:45.200
okay and things sort of start falling
0:47:42.880,0:47:48.880
into place so they do a very good job
0:47:45.200,0:47:51.680
of organizing the story
0:47:48.880,0:47:53.440
referencing existing plot lines like
0:47:51.680,0:47:56.240
there’s one scene where they’re
0:47:53.440,0:47:57.760
they’re talking about um a speech that
0:47:56.240,0:48:00.240
ronald reagan gives
0:47:57.760,0:48:01.119
and they show footage of ronald reagan
0:48:00.240,0:48:03.839
but they pull
0:48:01.119,0:48:04.240
the same type of thing that they do in
0:48:03.839,0:48:06.160
uh
0:48:04.240,0:48:08.480
forrest gump where they manipulate his
0:48:06.160,0:48:10.720
mouth and change the words just slightly
0:48:08.480,0:48:13.040
to give the speech a different meaning
0:48:10.720,0:48:14.960
and then you start getting uh commentary
0:48:13.040,0:48:17.280
from other politicians and you see a
0:48:14.960,0:48:18.880
flash up of jimmy carter who’s a senator
0:48:17.280,0:48:21.599
in 1983 so he never
0:48:18.880,0:48:23.040
ran for president okay so a lot of these
0:48:21.599,0:48:25.119
little things here
0:48:23.040,0:48:26.960
are our common little easter eggs and
0:48:25.119,0:48:28.880
stuff to kind of show you how it wound
0:48:26.960,0:48:31.920
up going a little bit different
0:48:28.880,0:48:33.440
um but i think it’s it’s still a very
0:48:31.920,0:48:36.880
good show it’s filling my
0:48:33.440,0:48:40.000
gap uh with uh the right stuff
0:48:36.880,0:48:42.559
having been cancelled so i recommend it
0:48:40.000,0:48:44.240
for all mankind season two streaming now
0:48:42.559,0:48:46.000
on apple tv it is dropping
0:48:44.240,0:48:47.440
every friday until they’ve dropped the
0:48:46.000,0:48:50.160
whole season okay
0:48:47.440,0:48:54.160
and we’ll be right back
0:48:50.160,0:48:56.000
[Applause]
0:48:54.160,0:48:57.599
so i think that was it uh we didn’t have
0:48:56.000,0:49:00.880
any afterthoughts this week right
0:48:57.599,0:49:02.720
