- Create A Customized Digital Pass: Guests can create a Disney MagicMobile pass through the My Disney Experience app and add it to the Wallet app on iPhone or the digital wallet on other smart devices. You can customize your pass by choosing from several Disney-themed designs that animate upon use (including special designs just for Annual Passholders and DVC Members)! For added ease, you may also store multiple passes on a single device, a great option for families.
- Easily Enter the Parks and More: Simply hold your iPhone, Apple Watch, or other smart device near an access point when entering the parks or using other available features, just like you do with a MagicBand. With Express Mode on iPhone and Apple Watch, guests do not even need to wake or unlock their Apple device, or open up the app, to use their Disney MagicMobile pass. As a reminder, valid park admission and a park reservation are required for park entry and must be linked to your account.
- Discover Other App Enhancements: We’ve also added a new feature in the My Disney Experience app that allows you to automatically link your Disney PhotoPass attraction photos and videos to your profile through your smartphone. - Citing privacy concerns, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has this afternoon stated that he intends to block the use of COVID-19 vaccine passports in the state of Florida.
- In comments today he said, “It is completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society.” He went on to specifically mention theme parks, “You want to go to a movie theater, should you have to show that? No. You want to go to a game, or a theme park? No. So we’re not supportive of that.”
- DeSantis said that he plans to use executive actions to ban their use in Florida.
- Vaccine passports are gaining widespread attention world-wide as they are seen as a way to enable safer levels of transportation and attendance at events. Disney has yet to make any official comments on whether it plans to attempt to use vaccine passports as a part of its future policies at Walt Disney World.
- Meanwhile at the White House, Andy Slavitt, a senior adviser for COVID-19 response said today, “The government here is not viewing its role as the place to create a passport, nor a place to hold the data of citizens. We view this as something that the private sector is doing, and will do.”

- Liam Neeson has expressed an interest in returning to the Star Wars universe in Disney+’s forthcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
- The Irish actor played Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn in 1999’s Episode I: The Phantom Menace, who was responsible for training Obi-Wan, played by Ewan McGregor.
- McGregor is set to reprise the role in the new streaming series, with Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen also returning.
- When asked about the calls from Star Wars fans to bring back the character of Qui-Gon, Neeson told Collider: “I’ll be honest with you: I haven’t heard that at all.”
- After being assured that there was indeed demand from fans for him to return, Neeson said: “Sure, I’d be up for that, yeah.”
- Neeson’s character was killed at the end of Phantom Menace but was later revealed to live on as a “Force ghost” – leaving the door open for the character to be revived in some form.
- In the same interview, the Schindler’s List star expressed doubt about the future of the Star Wars franchise, saying: “I’m sort of wondering, is Star Wars starting to fade away from the cinema landscape? Do we think?”
- As well as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney has several other Star Wars projects in development, including a third season of The Mandalorian, a Boba Fett spin-off series, and a film from Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.

- The broadcast network will get first airings of ‘Wellington Paranormal,’ from Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement.
- The world of What We Do in the Shadows is expanding.
- The CW and HBO Max have jointly acquired Wellington Paranormal, a spinoff of Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s 2014 vampire mockumentary (which has also spawned FX’s series What We Do in the Shadows). The show is the first joint acquisition by the two outlets; HBO Max parent company WarnerMedia jointly owns The CW with ViacomCBS.
- Under the agreement, The CW will get the first airings of the show, which is set to be part of its summer schedule (a premiere date is still to be determined). HBO Max will stream episodes a day after their broadcast debut, as will the broadcaster’s ad-supported streaming platforms.
- HBO Max also has full-season streaming rights to some CW original series, including Batwoman, Nancy Drew and freshman shows Walker, Superman & Lois, Kung Fu and The Republic of Sarah after their on-air runs end.
- Wellington Paranormal stars Karen O’Leary and Mike Minogue, who will reprise their roles from the film. They play two hard-working members of the Wellington, New Zealand, constabulary’s paranormal unit. Under the leadership of Sgt. Maaka (Maaka Pohatu), the unit investigates the surprisingly regular supernatural occurrences in the capital city.

- Fans who have been scouring for clues about the future of National Treasure are in luck, as Deadline is reporting that Disney Plus has greenlighted a new TV spinoff series with an order of 10 episodes, directed by Mira Nair.
- This new series will hand the reins of the expansive action-adventure franchise over to a new Latina lead named Jess Morales. A twenty-year-old DREAMer, Jess, along with her friends, will become involved in a new adventure revolving around the mysteries of her family tree — while discovering some hidden treasure along the way.
- You’ll recall that a Disney Plus series has been in the works at the streaming service for a while now, as Collider originally broke the news last May when we teased an answer out of franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer about the status of not only a potential National Treasure 3 but a TV show that was also in development:
- “We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen. Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but they’re both very active….The one for Disney+ is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept but a young cast. The one for theatrical would be the same cast.”
- According to Bruckheimer, the series had been making bigger strides in terms of production status than any potential film sequel. When Collider spoke to him in May, the team behind the show had already finished a pilot script and was outlining the remaining episodes of the first season. Meanwhile, this new announcement is definitely in line with what we already know in terms of the TV show focusing on a younger group of characters.
- The project comes from Bruckheimer and original writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley. Nair is best known for directing films like Monsoon Wedding, Vanity Fair and Queen of Katwe, the latter of which was also through Disney.
- Currently, there is no confirmed release date yet, but we’ll be reporting that information as soon as it’s uncovered.
