- Disney made the announcement the other week that it will close 20% of its brick-and-mortar Disney Store locations before the end of the year as part of a bigger focus on its e-commerce business.
- If you go to their website, the stores that are closing state that they are slated to close on or before March 23, 2021.
- At least 60 of its North American locations will close, the company said, citing changing consumer behaviors and a desire to link its online shopping experience to its Disney Parks apps and social media platforms. There are about 300 Disney Stores worldwide.
- “While consumer behavior has shifted toward online shopping, the global pandemic has changed what consumers expect from a retailer,” said Stephanie Young, president of consumer products, games and publishing.
- The pandemic has accelerated the shift away from physical stores to digital shopping by about five years, according to data from IBM’s U.S. Retail Index. Industry-wide e-commerce sales jumped 32.4% to $791.7 billion in 2020, and that figure is only expected to grow.
- Disney’s plan is to start by shuttering one-fifth of its Disney Store footprint and then evaluate where other closures may need to take place. The company is looking at Europe, in particular, as a place to make significant reductions.
- The company declined to provide financial details about how closures will impact its results, but noted that there will be an undisclosed number of layoffs that coincide with the stores closing. Disney also declined to say which locations would be affected.
- Notably, Disney’s other shopping experiences, which include more than 600 Disney Parks stores, shop-in-shop locations in stores like Target, lifestyle and outlet locations, and third-party retailers around the world will not be impacted.
- Disney’s partnership with Target, which has placed miniature Disney Stores inside the discount retailer, has grown from 25 stores to more than 50 since 2019. The company declined to share plans for future locations.
- The company says it will improve its current ShopDisney website and increase its product assortment to include more adult apparel collections, streetwear, premium home products and collectibles. Disney Stores tended to be a curated selection of children’s apparel, toys, plush and games. Online Disney will be able to cater to a wider demographic and expand its offerings.
- Disney is expected to share more details about its website revamp and product releases in the future.

- How Disney will make guests believe they’re staying in a Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge may be open, but the Star Wars expansion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is not yet complete. The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be a multi-night resort destination, designed to fully immerse guests into the Star Wars galaxy. While there isn’t an announced opening date yet, this destination is getting ready for when visitors can arrive.
- Recently, trees were added to the entrance of this hotel. And, while it is always nice to have foliage, these trees were added for a specific purpose.
- If we are to take this concept art as the final product, then we can discern that guests must drive one-way to the resort entrance.
- Why is the one-way important? Storyline is everything, especially for a hotel that is supposed to sell immersion at a hefty price tag. If the concept art and proposed theory of valet-only parking is true, then guests will take the above path. Guests will drive on the green, stopping at the first yellow where they will check in at security. Guests will continue on the green, stopping at the next yellow marker which is the entrance to the hotel. From here, guests would leave their vehicle and it would be parked by the valet team. Theoretically, guests would not see their car again until after their multi-day experience at the hotel. Guests, at the end of their stay, would then pick up their car at the same secondary yellow line, then drive on the red back out of the resort.
- This matters, especially if you look at the newly planted trees on the berms. They are built in such a way as to hide portions of the hotel and backstage area from guests. Eventually there should be more trees in this whole area, but notice the focus is strongly on hiding the hotel on the drive in. This hotel is incredibly difficult to build and run, because every bit of the experience is meant to simulate another location. This isn’t a five minute ride or a dining experience. This must fool, or immerse, people for days and make them believe they’re in a Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
- So, if you are one of the Imagineering magicians, you don’t want to giveaway your trick before you do it. Instead, focus heavily on selling the illusion that this hotel is in outer space. Get guests so focused on what’s around the next corner that they don’t notice the large hotel sitting to the right. Using elevated trees on a dirt berm is not new, but they are rarely used in such a way with a resort destination. For new resorts, such as Disney’s Riviera Resort or the Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney wants guests to see the splendor of these structures.
- Berms and trees have been used by Disney parks since the very beginning to help create a barrier without creating something as unflattering as a plain wall.
- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge uses a berm covered in trees to help sell the immersion of a forest encampment near the entrance to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
- Along with the newly added trees, we can also get a better look at the bus loading area. These highly-themed buses will simulate guests flying in a star shuttle from a luxury starcruiser in space and landing at the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. In reality, guests will load into a bus at the hotel and be dropped off inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land.
- This excursion to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be just one of numerous themed experiences available during the stay. Guests will also have the opportunity to go on the bridge of the “ship” during a space battle and learn how to properly wield a lightsaber.
- This entire resort experience can be simplified to three sections. Yellow is the entrance; here guests will drop off their cars and check in. They will also be lead to a motion simulator that sells the illusion of taking off into space up to the Starcruiser. The purple section is the majority of the hotel experience. Guests in this area can visit a bar, check out the bridge of the ship, meet characters and interact with nearly everything. The blue area is where the hotel rooms reside. This is where guests will be staying, complete with simulated views into space.
- If successful, this hotel could be “the start of something very very big”, according to Disney CEO, Bob Chapek. Which other Disney property would you like a hotel experience themed after? Marvel? Haunted Mansion? Or maybe you’d like to actually stay in the Hollywood Tower Hotel? Let us know in the comments below.
- How Star Wars Can Finally Have a Marvel-Like Shared Universe
- https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/star-wars-marvel-shared-universe-mandalorian-boba-fett-ahsoka-obi-wan-andor/
- http://bit.ly/38DMQD8
- Last December, Disney announced seven new Star Wars film and TV projects, giving us a look at what the next few years in the galaxy far, far away will look like both on Disney+ and in theaters. While the Rogue Squadron movie directed by Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) was the absolute mic drop of the evening, equally impressive is Disney’s plan for the small screen: several new series that expand the stories of fan-favorite characters like Ahsoka Tano and Lando Calrissian. Most intriguing of all is that many of these shows are designed to connect and interact with each other. In other words, Disney is finally getting what it’s always wanted for Star Wars: a shared universe of screen projects meant to emulate the interconnectedness of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
- Storytelling synergy has existed for a long time between Star Wars movies, books, comics, and games, but rarely in the Marvel way where one series or movie directly teases or leads into the next. Sure, Skywalker Saga films technically work that way, but those three trilogies are really one big story. But in Marvel’s case, it’s par for the course for a tonally unique series like WandaVision to still set the stage for the next Doctor Strange movie or Captain Marvel 2. The foundation of Star Wars wasn’t really built that way back in 1977 but as a contained trilogy of movies.
- Then Disney+ changed everything with The Mandalorian season 2, which not only introduced beloved animated characters Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan Kryze to live-action but also ended with a teaser for the next Star Wars series, The Book of Boba Fett, which is out in December. And The Book of Boba Fett doesn’t just star the infamous bounty hunter; it’s also a showcase for Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand, an assassin who first appeared in the first season of The Mandalorian.
- Today, Marvel fans take this shared universe storytelling structure for granted, but this is still very new territory for Star Wars. Whether it works or not will likely depend on how many Mandalorian fans flock to Boba Fett later this year. But Disney is betting big on this approach.
- The House of Mouse has already ordered two other series set during the same time period as The Mandalorian and Boba Fett, which take place five years after Return of the Jedi. The intriguing Rangers of the New Republic was reportedly conceived as a spinoff series for Mando associate Cara Dune before actor Gina Carano was fired from the franchise earlier this year, but I doubt that’s the only connection these series will have with each other. Meanwhile, Ahsoka will likely continue the hero’s search for Grand Admiral Thrawn right where it left off at the end of The Mandalorian season 2 episode “The Jedi.”
- Disney isn’t just trying to cash in on the success of The Mandalorian with spinoffs for the show’s most popular characters, though. The company also confirmed in December that all of these shows will ultimately converge in a big story event. That sure sounds a lot like the end of a MCU phase. Are Mando, Ahsoka, Bo-Katan, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, and friends eventually going to team up against Grand Admiral Thrawn in an epic Avengers-like finale? It sure feels that way.
- And the studio might not just be reserving its shared universe approach for the post-Jedi shows, either. Rogue One prequel Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi are both set many years after Revenge of the Sith but before the Original Trilogy, and there’s a good chance the Lando series will also be set at some point during this era, with Donald Glover returning as the charming scoundrel. (While Disney hasn’t confirmed any details about the latter project besides the fact that it’s happening, the studio has been trying to make a Lando spinoff with Glover for quite a few years.) The timelines won’t line up quite as cleanly, though. Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place 10 years after Revenge of the Sith in 9 BBY (Before Battle of Yavin), while the events of Andor will unfold in 5 BBY.
- But one rumor suggests that Ewan McGregor will appear as Obi-Wan in Andor, too. Far from an official confirmation, it’s still an intriguing possibility if true. With both series set to premiere in 2022, Disney could make the Jedi Master the character that ties both (or all three) pre-A New Hope series together, just like Mando is the common denominator across all of the post-Jedi shows. And could this all lead to an eventual big event that will see Obi-Wan, Cassian Andor, and Lando set up for their roles in the Original Trilogy era?
- It’s true that The Mandalorian spinoffs present much more intriguing storytelling paths than a potential Obi-Wan, Andor, and Lando shared universe for the simple fact that we know where the heroes in the latter series are ultimately headed. Meanwhile, the future isn’t set for Din Djarin, Bo-Katan, Ahsoka, Boba Fett, and their friends. But if Disney is leaning into what’s worked with Marvel for the Mando shows, why wouldn’t it try the same with the others?
- Marvel has shown that building towards big events across multiple stories can lead to massive payoffs (both in terms of storytelling and the box office). Why can’t the same work across all Star Wars screen projects, especially now that the franchise isn’t only reserved for movie theaters, where it has always been treated as more of a once-in-a-decade event than something more fluid like the MCU? Away from the big screen, Star Wars can shape a different future for itself that doesn’t have to fit into a trilogy or an epic saga about good vs. evil. In fact, The Mandalorian has already started that process with stories that feel much more intimate but that also flesh out the galaxy in a way the movies haven’t.
- And if Disney wanted to eventually connect the pre-Hope shows to the Mando ones for an even more interconnected universe on Disney+, it wouldn’t even need a specific event or series to bridge the two eras. The Original Trilogy is already there as the bridge. New characters introduced in Obi-Wan, Andor, and Lando could jump from one era to the other just as easily as Bo-Katan and Ahsoka have. This is especially true for characters introduced in Andor, which takes place only about 14 years before The Mandalorian. That’s the tiniest of time gaps when it comes to Star Wars. And the inverse is already happening: Fennec will appear in animated form in The Bad Batch, which is set after the Prequels as well.
- When the Skywalker Saga concluded in 2019, it really felt for the first time ever like the possibilities were endless for Star Wars on the big and small screens. Star Wars no longer needed to tie back to Luke Skywalker (The Mandalorian cameo notwithstanding) and his family drama. On Disney+, Star Wars has found new ways to explore the galaxy far, far away while introducing us to new characters and places to love. Now comes the next frontier: a shared universe, a first step into a larger world.

- HBO Planning Documentary On Actor Paul Reubens With Josh & Benny Safdie Producing

- HBO is no stranger to shining a light on some of Hollywood’s most fascinating people, and it is now setting its sights on spotlighting the person created one of the world’s most beloved characters. Sources tell Deadline that HBO Documentary Films is in production on a two-part documentary about the life of Paul Reubens, the man behind Pee-wee Herman.
- A co-production between HBO Documentary Films and Elara, the film will be produced by Uncut Gems directors Josh and Benny Safdie, their partner Sebastian Bear-McClard as well as Joker producer Emma Tillinger Koskoff. Matt Wolf is directing.
- “I’ve been working with HBO since they were called Home Box Office,” said Reubens. “I’m honored and excited to continue my long history there. I love HBO, but I’m not going to marry them.”
- A kaleidoscopic portrait told in two parts, the Reubens documentary traces the life of the imaginative artist behind one of pop culture’s most unlikely icons: Pee-wee Herman.
- “I’m thrilled to partner with HBO on Paul’s incredible life story,” said Tillinger Koskoff. “He is a once-in-a-generation talent whose brilliance created an indelible pop culture phenomenon. Audiences will be inspired and entertained by Paul’s creativity, resilience and determination as they get to know the person behind the iconic character.”
- Starting as an improvisational comedian and stage actor with the Los Angeles-based comedy troupe The Groundlings in the 1970s, Reubens’ big break came when he introduced the world to the Herman character in 1982 in a comedy show in Los Angeles. The show would sell out for five straight months, with HBO producing a special around one of the performances, launching Reubens’ career.
- Over the next decade Reubens would appear as the Herman character in two movies: Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985), which was directed by Tim Burton, and Big Top Pee-wee (1988). Reubens and the character hit their true peak when CBS gave the greenlight to the Saturday morning show Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, which ran from 1986-90. Any child growing up at that time fondly remembers the show not only for the fun energy Reubens brought to the character but the knowledge and education it provided to kids in a Sesame Street sort of way.
- “We all know Pee-wee Herman; it’s time for the world to meet Paul Reubens,” said Wolf. “I can’t wait to share his story.”
- Sources say the documentary is expected to focus not only on the Herman years but also include Reubens’ post-Pee-wee decades when he put the bow-tie away to focus on acting in projects that included Ben Stiller’s Mystery Men, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Blow opposite Johnny Depp.
- Reubens eventually would bring Herman out of retirement in 2016 in the Netflix movie Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, which had Reubens fan Judd Apatow producing.
- Given how private Reubens has been over the years, this will mark the first film that will document his life, and given the early ties he has with HBO, it makes sense that it be the one to tell his story to the world.
- SDCC 2021 Split Into Two Conventions: Online In July, In-Person In November
- https://screenrant.com/san-diego-comic-con-2021-online-in-person-events/
- http://bit.ly/30C1Ahi
- San Diego Comic-Con will hold two events this year, one virtual and one in-person.
- SDCC began in the 1970s as a comic book convention, but the event has exploded in recent years to become one of the most anticipated pop culture events of the year.
- The convention typically draws in 130,000 attendees to San Diego, eager to find out the latest news about their favorite franchises.
- Last year, for its 50th anniversary, SDCC was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
- SDCC was just one of the many festivals in 2020 hit with cancellation.
- The pandemic continues to affect the entertainment industry as theaters remain mostly closed and film and television productions have to follow strict safety protocols to stay safe.
- As vaccines continue to roll out across the country, many are trying to gauge when it is safe to hold events like SDCC again.
- Unfortunately, this summer may be too soon.
- SDCC announced that the convention would go virtual again this year.
- The three-day event will be held online from July 23 to July 25.
- To make up for this turn of events, though, SDCC will be putting on an in-person convention in November when it may be safer to gather.
- SDCC did not provide details about the November event but did say that information about dates, badge prices, and other information will be announced when they know more.

0:02:14.959,0:02:18.640
car inspections so
0:02:16.319,0:02:20.239
there’s your trivia for today well and
0:02:18.640,0:02:20.959
the one thing we’re fortunate for here
0:02:20.239,0:02:24.000
in jersey
0:02:20.959,0:02:26.080
is that our car inspections are actually
0:02:24.000,0:02:27.599
included in our registration fees so it
0:02:26.080,0:02:30.560
doesn’t cost us anything
0:02:27.599,0:02:31.440
right so you can actually go to free
0:02:30.560,0:02:34.640
locations
0:02:31.440,0:02:37.280
you you can go to a local mechanic
0:02:34.640,0:02:38.160
right and they’ll pay but yeah here we
0:02:37.280,0:02:40.080
are fortunate
0:02:38.160,0:02:42.560
anyway that’s why you are generous and
0:02:40.080,0:02:43.840
giving for of your time for me today so
0:02:42.560,0:02:46.239
i appreciate it there
0:02:43.840,0:02:47.599
no problem so that’s not what we’re
0:02:46.239,0:02:49.519
talking about today no
0:02:47.599,0:02:51.040
it wasn’t what we’re talking about today
0:02:49.519,0:02:52.879
is entertainment
0:02:51.040,0:02:55.519
uh in our disney detective we’re going
0:02:52.879,0:02:58.319
to talk about walt disney imaginary and
0:02:55.519,0:02:59.599
abc teaming up for a new interactive
0:02:58.319,0:03:02.800
series
0:02:59.599,0:03:04.239
as well as some changes coming to disney
0:03:02.800,0:03:07.360
stores but their change
0:03:04.239,0:03:07.680
in commerce policies i guess we could
0:03:07.360,0:03:10.000
say
0:03:07.680,0:03:11.200
yeah then in our tales from the edge of
0:03:10.000,0:03:13.040
the galaxy
0:03:11.200,0:03:14.879
we’ll talk about how disney will make
0:03:13.040,0:03:17.440
guests believe they’re staying
0:03:14.879,0:03:18.959
in a star wars galactic star cruiser
0:03:17.440,0:03:20.319
which is their new hotel that they’ll be
0:03:18.959,0:03:22.319
opening up
0:03:20.319,0:03:23.760
next year year after something like that
0:03:22.319,0:03:25.760
i think the end of the year
0:03:23.760,0:03:28.000
possibly there’s no date yet so right
0:03:25.760,0:03:28.720
yeah and then we’ll talk about how star
0:03:28.000,0:03:30.720
wars can
0:03:28.720,0:03:32.239
finally have a marvel like shared
0:03:30.720,0:03:34.560
universe which
0:03:32.239,0:03:36.400
i got news for folks they had it before
0:03:34.560,0:03:38.080
you had a marvel cinematic universe
0:03:36.400,0:03:39.760
if you talked about the expanded
0:03:38.080,0:03:40.640
universe but blah blah blah we’re not
0:03:39.760,0:03:44.159
going to get into that
0:03:40.640,0:03:45.519
nope in our entertainment news hbo is
0:03:44.159,0:03:48.640
planning a documentary
0:03:45.519,0:03:50.000
on pee-wee herman himself actor paul
0:03:48.640,0:03:53.040
reubens
0:03:50.000,0:03:55.760
and we’ll talk about san diego comic-con
0:03:53.040,0:03:56.959
not quite coming into normal yet but
0:03:55.760,0:03:59.680
they’re going to give us kind of a
0:03:56.959,0:04:01.599
hybrid solution
0:03:59.680,0:04:03.599
that will hopefully get us back into
0:04:01.599,0:04:04.879
some sense of normalcy
0:04:03.599,0:04:06.879
and then we’ll finish up with our
0:04:04.879,0:04:07.840
insightful picks of the week are we
0:04:06.879,0:04:14.060
ready to get started
0:04:07.840,0:04:21.709
sure let’s do it all right
0:04:14.060,0:04:21.709
[Music]
0:04:21.840,0:04:27.199
go for disney detective so walt disney
0:04:24.800,0:04:27.759
imagineering and abc are teaming up for
0:04:27.199,0:04:30.240
a new
0:04:27.759,0:04:31.600
interactive series called imagine from
0:04:30.240,0:04:34.960
home
0:04:31.600,0:04:37.280
it’s uh they’re collaborating
0:04:34.960,0:04:39.759
on this interactive video series which
0:04:37.280,0:04:42.240
is actually streaming online
0:04:39.759,0:04:42.960
and in each episode disney imagineers
0:04:42.240,0:04:44.880
will actually
0:04:42.960,0:04:46.639
share their skills and passion by
0:04:44.880,0:04:49.360
showing you step-by-step
0:04:46.639,0:04:50.479
instructions to draw or craft something
0:04:49.360,0:04:52.720
inspired by
0:04:50.479,0:04:54.880
the disney parks using materials that
0:04:52.720,0:04:57.680
you probably have around your home
0:04:54.880,0:05:00.039
so the website uh for all of these
0:04:57.680,0:05:02.240
episodes is actually
0:05:00.039,0:05:03.759
imaginefromhome.com and there are five
0:05:02.240,0:05:05.840
episodes that they have
0:05:03.759,0:05:07.919
um it doesn’t look like they’re going to
0:05:05.840,0:05:11.360
produce any more so it’s probably
0:05:07.919,0:05:12.400
you know these are them and for each
0:05:11.360,0:05:14.800
episode they
0:05:12.400,0:05:16.479
list the level of difficulty from
0:05:14.800,0:05:17.919
beginner to advanced
0:05:16.479,0:05:20.320
as well as the supplies that you’re
0:05:17.919,0:05:22.840
going to need for each project
0:05:20.320,0:05:24.639
so the different projects are draw your
0:05:22.840,0:05:27.680
castle then they have
0:05:24.639,0:05:31.440
build your r2 droid um
0:05:27.680,0:05:34.479
draw your big thunder mountain
0:05:31.440,0:05:36.960
make your castle night light and then
0:05:34.479,0:05:39.680
the final one is make your
0:05:36.960,0:05:40.080
small world animated scene so it’s cute
0:05:39.680,0:05:43.120
it’s
0:05:40.080,0:05:45.120
lit you know in the uh you know in the
0:05:43.120,0:05:48.240
age of the the dyi
0:05:45.120,0:05:51.440
diy and you know everybody
0:05:48.240,0:05:53.840
trying to find crafts you know to to do
0:05:51.440,0:05:55.440
you know with kids or for themselves
0:05:53.840,0:05:57.520
this was a cute little uh
0:05:55.440,0:05:59.280
series that that disney’s doing you know
0:05:57.520,0:06:01.360
because they’re all inspired
0:05:59.280,0:06:03.199
by things from from the different parks
0:06:01.360,0:06:05.199
so kind of cute well that is kind of
0:06:03.199,0:06:07.680
cute and it kind of goes along the lines
0:06:05.199,0:06:10.080
of what disney’s been doing through this
0:06:07.680,0:06:11.360
whole last year where they’re giving you
0:06:10.080,0:06:13.680
recipes and
0:06:11.360,0:06:15.280
right right you know insider little
0:06:13.680,0:06:16.479
tours and you know they’re kind of
0:06:15.280,0:06:19.840
keeping
0:06:16.479,0:06:21.680
that interest going when you
0:06:19.840,0:06:24.080
so it was cute so like you know for the
0:06:21.680,0:06:26.479
drawing ones it basically you need paper
0:06:24.080,0:06:27.680
you need you know things to color but
0:06:26.479,0:06:30.720
then for
0:06:27.680,0:06:32.639
like the night light um you need a box
0:06:30.720,0:06:34.800
and you need some sort of light source
0:06:32.639,0:06:36.560
so like a battery operated
0:06:34.800,0:06:38.800
um you know christmas lights or
0:06:36.560,0:06:41.600
something and then you know
0:06:38.800,0:06:43.840
for the the animated scene you you know
0:06:41.600,0:06:44.720
uh you need like an exacto knife and you
0:06:43.840,0:06:48.080
need
0:06:44.720,0:06:49.599
um a glue gun so you know some are a
0:06:48.080,0:06:52.639
little bit more
0:06:49.599,0:06:55.199
you know advanced than just you know uh
0:06:52.639,0:06:56.080
you know paper and and a pencil so
0:06:55.199,0:06:57.440
that’s cute well
0:06:56.080,0:06:59.280
yeah the other neat thing is it’s one of
0:06:57.440,0:07:02.560
those things where it might be that
0:06:59.280,0:07:04.400
spark to spark a a kid to
0:07:02.560,0:07:06.479
want to go down that path themselves and
0:07:04.400,0:07:08.240
start doing their own stuff and
0:07:06.479,0:07:10.000
eventually become an imagining of
0:07:08.240,0:07:12.800
themselves sure could
0:07:10.000,0:07:14.479
very cool so let’s talk about disney
0:07:12.800,0:07:16.479
stores and what’s happening with them
0:07:14.479,0:07:17.759
yeah so disney had made an announcement
0:07:16.479,0:07:18.400
the other week that they would be
0:07:17.759,0:07:21.120
closing
0:07:18.400,0:07:23.360
20 of its brick and mortar disney store
0:07:21.120,0:07:25.199
locations before the end of the year as
0:07:23.360,0:07:28.479
part of a bigger focus
0:07:25.199,0:07:31.680
to focus on the e-commerce business
0:07:28.479,0:07:33.840
so now actually if you go to the
0:07:31.680,0:07:35.599
disney store.coms website and you go to
0:07:33.840,0:07:38.720
the store locator
0:07:35.599,0:07:41.039
and you look for like they don’t list
0:07:38.720,0:07:43.199
um the stores that are closing you
0:07:41.039,0:07:45.599
actually have to go and look for some
0:07:43.199,0:07:46.639
certain location it actually says that
0:07:45.599,0:07:49.520
these uh
0:07:46.639,0:07:50.000
locations would be closing on or before
0:07:49.520,0:07:53.440
march
0:07:50.000,0:07:54.240
23rd so a lot sooner than the one
0:07:53.440,0:07:57.280
article
0:07:54.240,0:07:58.960
uh that came out uh talked about um so
0:07:57.280,0:08:00.879
at least 60 of the north american
0:07:58.960,0:08:02.720
locations will close the company had
0:08:00.879,0:08:03.840
said citing that changes in consumer
0:08:02.720,0:08:06.400
behaviors
0:08:03.840,0:08:07.280
and a desire to link its online shopping
0:08:06.400,0:08:10.400
experience
0:08:07.280,0:08:11.280
to its disney parks app and social media
0:08:10.400,0:08:13.360
platforms
0:08:11.280,0:08:15.440
there are about 300 disney stores
0:08:13.360,0:08:17.680
worldwide
0:08:15.440,0:08:19.520
stephanie young who is the president of
0:08:17.680,0:08:21.520
consumer products had said
0:08:19.520,0:08:23.199
while consumer behavior has shifted
0:08:21.520,0:08:25.680
towards online shopping
0:08:23.199,0:08:28.400
the global pandemic has changed what
0:08:25.680,0:08:33.039
consumers expect from a retailer
0:08:28.400,0:08:35.680
um so obviously everybody has seen this
0:08:33.039,0:08:36.719
you know across the board that brick and
0:08:35.680,0:08:40.399
mortar stores
0:08:36.719,0:08:42.000
you know unless it’s a grocery store um
0:08:40.399,0:08:44.000
you know they’re really the only ones
0:08:42.000,0:08:46.080
that are kind of thriving
0:08:44.000,0:08:48.240
um during all of this because also they
0:08:46.080,0:08:50.160
were the ones that weren’t closing
0:08:48.240,0:08:52.000
uh that weren’t closed for a while where
0:08:50.160,0:08:54.160
you had you know a lot of other retail
0:08:52.000,0:08:56.399
stores that were closed and
0:08:54.160,0:08:57.680
you know some are finally starting to to
0:08:56.399,0:09:00.800
open or have been open
0:08:57.680,0:09:02.640
but you know limited capacity um
0:09:00.800,0:09:04.080
and whatnot so obviously disney was
0:09:02.640,0:09:06.959
feeling it um
0:09:04.080,0:09:07.839
as well so that was kind of uh part of
0:09:06.959,0:09:10.560
the reason
0:09:07.839,0:09:12.160
behind it um so it’s gonna be closing
0:09:10.560,0:09:15.360
you know some of their stores
0:09:12.160,0:09:19.040
um now um so they have
0:09:15.360,0:09:22.160
uh they had actually started putting um
0:09:19.040,0:09:23.440
disney had partnered with target back in
0:09:22.160,0:09:26.800
2019
0:09:23.440,0:09:28.560
where they had like miniature disney
0:09:26.800,0:09:31.680
stores located within
0:09:28.560,0:09:32.720
certain targets so as of right now those
0:09:31.680,0:09:35.680
don’t seem to be
0:09:32.720,0:09:36.399
affected by it the article also talked
0:09:35.680,0:09:39.760
about
0:09:36.399,0:09:42.720
um the disney outlet stores
0:09:39.760,0:09:44.480
that are you know open throughout that
0:09:42.720,0:09:47.519
those are not affected
0:09:44.480,0:09:50.560
um either so it just happens to be the
0:09:47.519,0:09:53.600
disney the actual disney stores
0:09:50.560,0:09:56.720
um in our area it looked like uh
0:09:53.600,0:09:57.519
freehold which isn’t that close to to
0:09:56.720,0:10:00.000
here
0:09:57.519,0:10:00.720
um is one of the stores that will be
0:10:00.000,0:10:02.399
closing
0:10:00.720,0:10:04.399
and that was like the original disney
0:10:02.399,0:10:06.880
store that was you know where i grew
0:10:04.399,0:10:08.240
close to where i grew up uh so that was
0:10:06.880,0:10:11.040
my original uh
0:10:08.240,0:10:13.120
disney store uh so that’s kind of uh you
0:10:11.040,0:10:15.120
know sad to see and then in some areas
0:10:13.120,0:10:16.640
where there might have only been you
0:10:15.120,0:10:18.959
know one disney store
0:10:16.640,0:10:20.079
in a certain state now that state’s not
0:10:18.959,0:10:22.720
even going to have
0:10:20.079,0:10:23.920
a disney store but the idea from what
0:10:22.720,0:10:25.600
they were talking about is that they’re
0:10:23.920,0:10:28.800
going to revamp
0:10:25.600,0:10:31.920
the website and actually do
0:10:28.800,0:10:32.640
more um you know not just toys on the
0:10:31.920,0:10:35.760
website
0:10:32.640,0:10:36.800
but do more um adult clothing and
0:10:35.760,0:10:38.959
collectibles
0:10:36.800,0:10:39.839
and kind of what the disney stores
0:10:38.959,0:10:42.399
originally
0:10:39.839,0:10:43.200
had back when they first opened they had
0:10:42.399,0:10:46.160
a
0:10:43.200,0:10:47.040
much bigger variety of items that they
0:10:46.160,0:10:48.959
offered
0:10:47.040,0:10:51.360
and then they kind of revamped it and it
0:10:48.959,0:10:53.440
went more towards the kids
0:10:51.360,0:10:55.279
aspect of things so it was harder to get
0:10:53.440,0:10:56.640
those collectible items unless you
0:10:55.279,0:10:58.640
actually went
0:10:56.640,0:11:00.000
down to disney where they you know where
0:10:58.640,0:11:01.360
they would have it there
0:11:00.000,0:11:03.519
so now it seems like they’re going to
0:11:01.360,0:11:05.760
try and bring back
0:11:03.519,0:11:07.680
you know a lot of that so well and this
0:11:05.760,0:11:10.800
also comes on the heels of
0:11:07.680,0:11:12.079
disney having done uh a couple of year
0:11:10.800,0:11:14.800
project of doing
0:11:12.079,0:11:15.839
updates to their stores too yeah yeah
0:11:14.800,0:11:17.440
they just
0:11:15.839,0:11:19.200
not only did they update the deptford
0:11:17.440,0:11:19.600
store near us they completely moved it
0:11:19.200,0:11:22.480
in
0:11:19.600,0:11:23.519
into a new store area in a much larger
0:11:22.480,0:11:25.440
location as well
0:11:23.519,0:11:27.360
yeah so they had done the update to
0:11:25.440,0:11:29.440
cherry hill as well to make it a much
0:11:27.360,0:11:32.160
more interactive style
0:11:29.440,0:11:33.839
right i’m curious if the stores that
0:11:32.160,0:11:35.600
they’re closing are ones they haven’t
0:11:33.839,0:11:37.200
actually got yeah maybe yeah i don’t
0:11:35.600,0:11:37.519
know because i can’t remember the last
0:11:37.200,0:11:40.720
time
0:11:37.519,0:11:44.480
we were up in freehold you know but
0:11:40.720,0:11:47.440
we’ve you know in in our our travels
0:11:44.480,0:11:48.800
we’ve happened upon a lot more disney
0:11:47.440,0:11:52.000
outlet stores
0:11:48.800,0:11:55.120
than there ever were you know before and
0:11:52.000,0:11:56.880
you know the the last excuse me the last
0:11:55.120,0:11:59.839
two that we you know went to
0:11:56.880,0:12:00.959
they had lines to get in now granted it
0:11:59.839,0:12:03.440
was because of
0:12:00.959,0:12:04.560
restrictions on restrictions but it was
0:12:03.440,0:12:06.959
amazing
0:12:04.560,0:12:08.320
you know where there were other stores
0:12:06.959,0:12:11.680
in the outlet mall that
0:12:08.320,0:12:12.560
didn’t have a line disney was one of the
0:12:11.680,0:12:15.680
only ones
0:12:12.560,0:12:17.440
but even um you know the well the one
0:12:15.680,0:12:18.800
that’s down in orlando we haven’t
0:12:17.440,0:12:22.800
obviously been there
0:12:18.800,0:12:25.200
um in ages but they actually started
0:12:22.800,0:12:26.959
doing a line as as well a little over a
0:12:25.200,0:12:28.959
year it’s not ages
0:12:26.959,0:12:30.880
it feels like ages because we were down
0:12:28.959,0:12:34.560
there not this past christmas
0:12:30.880,0:12:37.519
2019 that was a long time ago yeah
0:12:34.560,0:12:39.200
we went through twice when you go when
0:12:37.519,0:12:41.120
you go to disney two or three times a
0:12:39.200,0:12:41.680
year i could see going that long being
0:12:41.120,0:12:44.639
ages
0:12:41.680,0:12:45.440
well it just seems like ages since we’ve
0:12:44.639,0:12:48.000
actually been
0:12:45.440,0:12:49.600
anywhere just you know now they did have
0:12:48.000,0:12:50.959
a total number of stores
0:12:49.600,0:12:53.279
that they’re closing that they talk
0:12:50.959,0:12:53.760
about how many jobs this was going to
0:12:53.279,0:12:56.160
cost
0:12:53.760,0:12:57.920
no they didn’t mention how many how many
0:12:56.160,0:13:00.480
jobs would be affected by it you know
0:12:57.920,0:13:02.079
yeah you figure yeah you figure each
0:13:00.480,0:13:05.360
store maybe has
0:13:02.079,0:13:08.560
20 yeah did they discuss at
0:13:05.360,0:13:10.560
all what the financial impact was that
0:13:08.560,0:13:13.920
caused the decision to close the stores
0:13:10.560,0:13:15.680
no no yeah disney’s you usually plays
0:13:13.920,0:13:18.560
that pretty tight to the vet
0:13:15.680,0:13:20.320
yeah well unfortunate especially some of
0:13:18.560,0:13:21.680
the long time ones that uh
0:13:20.320,0:13:24.079
yeah like freehold that have been there
0:13:21.680,0:13:25.760
for years yeah yeah
0:13:24.079,0:13:28.079
so that was all we had for our disney
0:13:25.760,0:13:30.079
detectives we’ll be back after a quick
0:13:28.079,0:13:34.050
break with our tales from the edge of

pew pew pew pew go for tails from the
0:14:53.440,0:14:59.000
edge of the galaxy
0:14:55.680,0:15:01.360
uh so this article came from
0:14:59.000,0:15:04.480
attractionsmagazine.com and it um
0:15:01.360,0:15:07.600
basically is giving a an overview of
0:15:04.480,0:15:09.440
how disney will make guests feel and
0:15:07.600,0:15:12.399
believe that they are staying
0:15:09.440,0:15:13.040
in a star wars galactic star cruiser so
0:15:12.399,0:15:16.079
they have
0:15:13.040,0:15:20.560
a whole bunch of different aerial
0:15:16.079,0:15:23.680
uh pictures uh satellite pictures
0:15:20.560,0:15:26.000
of the area and they kind of
0:15:23.680,0:15:27.120
you know took the artist renderings that
0:15:26.000,0:15:29.519
have come out
0:15:27.120,0:15:30.240
and kind of overlapped to try and figure
0:15:29.519,0:15:33.040
out
0:15:30.240,0:15:33.759
um you know how it how it’s all gonna
0:15:33.040,0:15:36.560
work
0:15:33.759,0:15:37.199
um you know and in some of the pictures
0:15:36.560,0:15:40.480
um
0:15:37.199,0:15:42.959
you can see that they’ve started to
0:15:40.480,0:15:43.600
plant some trees and in the tree line
0:15:42.959,0:15:45.440
and stuff and
0:15:43.600,0:15:46.720
and what’s kind of important about that
0:15:45.440,0:15:50.160
and you know
0:15:46.720,0:15:53.440
if you have been to disney you
0:15:50.160,0:15:53.680
know that they use trees to hide things
0:15:53.440,0:15:56.880
and
0:15:53.680,0:15:58.160
camouflage things and um you know hide
0:15:56.880,0:16:01.040
things
0:15:58.160,0:16:01.360
you know out of sight from uh you know
0:16:01.040,0:16:04.000
the
0:16:01.360,0:16:05.759
the guest uh you know that goes there to
0:16:04.000,0:16:09.360
kind of help with the
0:16:05.759,0:16:13.440
illusion of everything so what they were
0:16:09.360,0:16:15.839
talking about in in the article is how
0:16:13.440,0:16:16.639
it kind of looks like when you get to
0:16:15.839,0:16:20.160
the hotel
0:16:16.639,0:16:21.759
it’s going to be a one-way path that you
0:16:20.160,0:16:23.920
have to follow with your car
0:16:21.759,0:16:26.160
and that basically you’re gonna get to a
0:16:23.920,0:16:27.519
certain area and it’s gonna be valet
0:16:26.160,0:16:30.560
parking so you’re gonna
0:16:27.519,0:16:34.880
um you know hand over your your car
0:16:30.560,0:16:37.040
they’re gonna unload um your vehicle and
0:16:34.880,0:16:39.279
basically you have to kind of treat it
0:16:37.040,0:16:41.519
as you’re going on a cruise
0:16:39.279,0:16:43.199
um you know if you go on a cruise you
0:16:41.519,0:16:46.079
never get your you know you don’t
0:16:43.199,0:16:47.600
leave the cruise ship uh to go other
0:16:46.079,0:16:49.759
places you’re on the ship
0:16:47.600,0:16:50.800
that’s where you stay for however long
0:16:49.759,0:16:53.199
the journey is
0:16:50.800,0:16:54.320
and this is going to be the same thing
0:16:53.199,0:16:56.959
so you’re going to
0:16:54.320,0:16:58.560
um you know check in they’re going to
0:16:56.959,0:17:00.399
park your car
0:16:58.560,0:17:02.320
unload it and then you don’t see your
0:17:00.399,0:17:05.280
car for the two days that
0:17:02.320,0:17:07.360
that you’re there um so then they show
0:17:05.280,0:17:09.839
the rest of the buildings how
0:17:07.360,0:17:11.280
um then you know you kind of go through
0:17:09.839,0:17:14.400
the one area
0:17:11.280,0:17:15.280
and they’re gonna transport you off
0:17:14.400,0:17:18.400
world
0:17:15.280,0:17:19.679
um so then you’re on you know you ha
0:17:18.400,0:17:22.559
you’re gonna go through some sort of
0:17:19.679,0:17:25.199
motion simulator to to get to
0:17:22.559,0:17:25.760
the star cruiser and then they were also
0:17:25.199,0:17:28.240
showing
0:17:25.760,0:17:28.799
how they’re starting to build the area
0:17:28.240,0:17:32.160
um
0:17:28.799,0:17:34.400
that’s in star wars galaxy’s edge of
0:17:32.160,0:17:35.679
where you’re going to how you’re going
0:17:34.400,0:17:38.640
to get from
0:17:35.679,0:17:39.919
the hotel to the park so there’ll be a
0:17:38.640,0:17:43.200
specific
0:17:39.919,0:17:43.919
a special entrance just for the resort
0:17:43.200,0:17:46.000
guests
0:17:43.919,0:17:47.919
so obviously the idea is that they’ll
0:17:46.000,0:17:48.640
have a bunch of different activities
0:17:47.919,0:17:52.559
going on
0:17:48.640,0:17:55.919
at the resort um like uh lightsaber
0:17:52.559,0:18:00.240
battling uh you’ll be able to uh
0:17:55.919,0:18:03.840
take uh tours of the um
0:18:00.240,0:18:08.080
um the
0:18:03.840,0:18:11.120
um why can’t i think of the
0:18:08.080,0:18:12.559
word i just totally blanked out um
0:18:11.120,0:18:14.160
you know so they’ll have the restaurant
0:18:12.559,0:18:15.919
they’ll have a bar they’ll do
0:18:14.160,0:18:17.600
have character meet and greets you’ll be
0:18:15.919,0:18:20.640
able to
0:18:17.600,0:18:23.039
check out the bridge of the ship and
0:18:20.640,0:18:23.679
uh maybe depending on what time you’re
0:18:23.039,0:18:25.679
there
0:18:23.679,0:18:28.320
there might be a battle going on that
0:18:25.679,0:18:31.440
you kind of help with um
0:18:28.320,0:18:32.720
and then obviously also being able to to
0:18:31.440,0:18:35.919
go to the park
0:18:32.720,0:18:38.559
um so
0:18:35.919,0:18:40.160
no date as of right now when it’s
0:18:38.559,0:18:42.080
supposed to open i think it’s supposed
0:18:40.160,0:18:42.559
to be sometime the end of this year but
0:18:42.080,0:18:46.640
again
0:18:42.559,0:18:49.919
nothing um has come out but the idea is
0:18:46.640,0:18:53.280
if this kind of takes off could they do
0:18:49.919,0:18:54.320
other themed you know hotels you know
0:18:53.280,0:18:56.720
something like this
0:18:54.320,0:18:59.360
takes off that’s that’s funny i see
0:18:56.720,0:18:59.360
where you went there
0:18:59.600,0:19:06.480
i wasn’t even trying thanks um
0:19:02.720,0:19:07.200
so you know obviously we know that they
0:19:06.480,0:19:09.200
already have
0:19:07.200,0:19:11.120
themed rooms you know they have the
0:19:09.200,0:19:12.960
pirates of the caribbean room
0:19:11.120,0:19:14.480
um they had always talked about doing a
0:19:12.960,0:19:16.559
haunted mansion
0:19:14.480,0:19:18.080
themed room and that never came to be
0:19:16.559,0:19:19.280
but how cool would it be if they did a
0:19:18.080,0:19:23.440
haunted mansion
0:19:19.280,0:19:25.200
hotel or even a marvel themed
0:19:23.440,0:19:26.480
you know hotel now that they’re
0:19:25.200,0:19:30.400
incorporating you know
0:19:26.480,0:19:33.280
marvel into uh the parks so
0:19:30.400,0:19:34.000
cool little you know hints and teasers
0:19:33.280,0:19:36.000
you know
0:19:34.000,0:19:37.360
as it’s getting you know closer and
0:19:36.000,0:19:39.360
closer so
0:19:37.360,0:19:40.960
so i have to say in looking at some of
0:19:39.360,0:19:43.840
the shots that we have
0:19:40.960,0:19:46.000
some of the overhead shots this does not
0:19:43.840,0:19:49.200
look particularly large
0:19:46.000,0:19:50.960
no it looks very small compared to a
0:19:49.200,0:19:52.000
typical disney resort well and that’s
0:19:50.960,0:19:54.559
the thing too is most
0:19:52.000,0:19:56.080
of the disney resorts are multiple
0:19:54.559,0:19:58.400
buildings
0:19:56.080,0:20:00.480
that’s my right is that this literally
0:19:58.400,0:20:02.640
looks like one building
0:20:00.480,0:20:05.440
the the shape and size looks like it’s a
0:20:02.640,0:20:07.200
single building from like pop century
0:20:05.440,0:20:08.880
and that’s about the capacity so it
0:20:07.200,0:20:10.799
looks like from this shot that we’re
0:20:08.880,0:20:13.120
looking at here
0:20:10.799,0:20:14.880
um it looks like it’s what three floors
0:20:13.120,0:20:17.039
four floors maybe
0:20:14.880,0:20:19.360
yeah it looks like cherry those are the
0:20:17.039,0:20:20.799
rooms in the back in the narrow area
0:20:19.360,0:20:22.320
the area in the front is going to be
0:20:20.799,0:20:24.240
what your bridge is and your restaurant
0:20:22.320,0:20:27.679
and everything else
0:20:24.240,0:20:29.440
so literally almost a third of the
0:20:27.679,0:20:31.440
building that you have there is
0:20:29.440,0:20:32.720
services it’s not even the rooms
0:20:31.440,0:20:34.960
themselves right
0:20:32.720,0:20:37.280
and from what you know you’ve seen the
0:20:34.960,0:20:40.400
rooms aren’t particularly
0:20:37.280,0:20:44.000
large either you know it’s supposed to
0:20:40.400,0:20:46.159
give you that feel of being on
0:20:44.000,0:20:48.080
a cruise have they announced what the
0:20:46.159,0:20:49.360
capacity of the resort is
0:20:48.080,0:20:51.120
no i don’t think so i don’t think
0:20:49.360,0:20:52.559
there’s been anything about it yet
0:20:51.120,0:20:54.400
as you would expect it looks like
0:20:52.559,0:20:57.919
everything is
0:20:54.400,0:20:59.840
an indoor right attraction
0:20:57.919,0:21:01.039
because there’s no pool areas there’s
0:20:59.840,0:21:03.280
nothing outside
0:21:01.039,0:21:05.280
right because the idea is you’re suppose
0:21:03.280,0:21:07.679
and that’s the other thing too is
0:21:05.280,0:21:08.320
i don’t know if they’re gonna have a
0:21:07.679,0:21:11.679
pool
0:21:08.320,0:21:14.559
because it’s florida
0:21:11.679,0:21:15.200
and usually when you go to florida you
0:21:14.559,0:21:18.000
want to go
0:21:15.200,0:21:19.039
swimming right so i i don’t know i they
0:21:18.000,0:21:22.400
haven’t really
0:21:19.039,0:21:25.919
given you much of you know maybe in
0:21:22.400,0:21:28.400
star wars you don’t swim i i don’t know
0:21:25.919,0:21:29.840
well they swam on kamino right it was a
0:21:28.400,0:21:32.559
water world so you kind of have
0:21:29.840,0:21:32.960
sure yeah that’s true yeah so i don’t
0:21:32.559,0:21:35.840
know
0:21:32.960,0:21:37.440
so legit shaping up not not no pun
0:21:35.840,0:21:37.919
intended but it’s shaping up to be a
0:21:37.440,0:21:40.960
very
0:21:37.919,0:21:42.960
different resort experience than
0:21:40.960,0:21:44.640
what disney typically are right and i
0:21:42.960,0:21:48.080
could totally see
0:21:44.640,0:21:51.520
the person that would normally go
0:21:48.080,0:21:52.240
for you know a five-day trip seven-day
0:21:51.520,0:21:55.280
trip
0:21:52.240,0:21:56.159
this would be part of their vacation and
0:21:55.280,0:21:58.159
then
0:21:56.159,0:21:59.520
right they’d talk before like it was
0:21:58.159,0:22:02.720
this the
0:21:59.520,0:22:04.960
sea and land you know like cruising and
0:22:02.720,0:22:05.919
theme park attractions right right what
0:22:04.960,0:22:07.760
we had said oh
0:22:05.919,0:22:09.360
how are they going to keep you from
0:22:07.760,0:22:11.120
leaving you know
0:22:09.360,0:22:12.720
it sounds like they you can’t get to
0:22:11.120,0:22:13.120
your car right now so right you’re not
0:22:12.720,0:22:15.280
going to
0:22:13.120,0:22:16.480
valet park your car someplace that you
0:22:15.280,0:22:18.080
can’t get right
0:22:16.480,0:22:19.600
and you know and i guess that’s what
0:22:18.080,0:22:21.919
they’re trying to
0:22:19.600,0:22:23.919
convey is because if you look at the
0:22:21.919,0:22:26.640
land there’s literally no parking area
0:22:23.919,0:22:27.039
in the air yeah immediate vicinity yeah
0:22:26.640,0:22:29.600
so
0:22:27.039,0:22:31.039
they’re probably trying to you know to
0:22:29.600,0:22:32.159
convey to people that make this
0:22:31.039,0:22:34.320
reservation
0:22:32.159,0:22:36.320
think of it as you’re going on a cruise
0:22:34.320,0:22:39.120
so don’t plan to
0:22:36.320,0:22:39.520
make dinner reservations right someplace
0:22:39.120,0:22:41.200
else
0:22:39.520,0:22:43.039
everything will be you know and i wonder
0:22:41.200,0:22:46.000
if they’re going to do that kind of like
0:22:43.039,0:22:48.320
when you go on a cruise where you know
0:22:46.000,0:22:50.080
you you do your rotation
0:22:48.320,0:22:51.600
you know certainly how many restaurants
0:22:50.080,0:22:54.159
are they doing i know we’ve got
0:22:51.600,0:22:55.360
one but right it’s not big enough to
0:22:54.159,0:22:57.200
really do more than that
0:22:55.360,0:22:58.880
i don’t know i don’t know and that’s the
0:22:57.200,0:23:02.159
thing is you know maybe
0:22:58.880,0:23:03.760
it’s kind of where maybe there’s
0:23:02.159,0:23:05.679
multiple seatings
0:23:03.760,0:23:08.640
you know like there’s a you know a five
0:23:05.679,0:23:11.120
o’clock six o’clock and at seven o’clock
0:23:08.640,0:23:12.559
seating for dinner and it’s just the one
0:23:11.120,0:23:13.280
building that we see in the shot here
0:23:12.559,0:23:15.280
right it’s
0:23:13.280,0:23:17.440
there isn’t like three of these spread
0:23:15.280,0:23:19.360
around the campus no not that i know of
0:23:17.440,0:23:22.080
as far as i know it’s just the one
0:23:19.360,0:23:23.440
seems like very limited capacity did
0:23:22.080,0:23:26.559
they release pricing yet
0:23:23.440,0:23:27.039
nope nothing yet you know i’m checking i
0:23:26.559,0:23:30.559
know
0:23:27.039,0:23:32.480
i know just to say that will probably be
0:23:30.559,0:23:34.880
our triumphant return to disney is when
0:23:32.480,0:23:38.159
that opens and we can do that
0:23:34.880,0:23:41.200
yeah i could see that so interesting
0:23:38.159,0:23:42.000
so let’s talk about how star wars is
0:23:41.200,0:23:45.039
giving us a
0:23:42.000,0:23:48.480
marvel like shared universe so from
0:23:45.039,0:23:50.640
den of the geek.com uh this article
0:23:48.480,0:23:52.000
basically was talking about how star
0:23:50.640,0:23:54.240
wars can kind of
0:23:52.000,0:23:56.320
you know finally have that marvel like
0:23:54.240,0:23:58.320
shared universe even though
0:23:56.320,0:23:59.679
you know you had said they’ve already
0:23:58.320,0:24:02.240
kind of had that
0:23:59.679,0:24:03.360
um but obviously last december disney
0:24:02.240,0:24:06.000
had announced that there were going to
0:24:03.360,0:24:06.960
be seven new star wars films and and tv
0:24:06.000,0:24:09.279
projects
0:24:06.960,0:24:10.960
and you know giving us a look at you
0:24:09.279,0:24:13.520
know what the next few years
0:24:10.960,0:24:14.799
were going to be looking like not only
0:24:13.520,0:24:18.640
for disney plus
0:24:14.799,0:24:21.760
but also in the theaters as well so
0:24:18.640,0:24:23.279
uh rogue squadron um
0:24:21.760,0:24:25.840
is going to be the movie that’s going to
0:24:23.279,0:24:27.840
be directed by uh patty jenkins
0:24:25.840,0:24:28.880
and that was kind of you know the big
0:24:27.840,0:24:31.360
event
0:24:28.880,0:24:32.880
that was had been announced but
0:24:31.360,0:24:35.919
obviously they have all these
0:24:32.880,0:24:39.039
um you know small screen events as well
0:24:35.919,0:24:42.080
so we have uh the lando calrissian
0:24:39.039,0:24:46.159
um show that they’ve been talking about
0:24:42.080,0:24:48.960
as well as ahsoka tana um you know
0:24:46.159,0:24:50.559
coming in and you know what this article
0:24:48.960,0:24:53.360
was basically talking about is that
0:24:50.559,0:24:54.080
now with bringing in all these different
0:24:53.360,0:24:57.279
things
0:24:54.080,0:24:59.600
they’re kind of doing what
0:24:57.279,0:25:01.679
the mcu has done is that even though you
0:24:59.600,0:25:02.880
have all these different
0:25:01.679,0:25:05.840
movies and all these different
0:25:02.880,0:25:09.120
characters there’s little teases
0:25:05.840,0:25:12.159
in one that help to lead you um
0:25:09.120,0:25:15.440
you know to the other and um
0:25:12.159,0:25:18.400
you know so that now that
0:25:15.440,0:25:19.039
you know even though you had you know
0:25:18.400,0:25:22.559
the
0:25:19.039,0:25:23.279
the original trilogy and the original
0:25:22.559,0:25:26.720
trilogy
0:25:23.279,0:25:30.480
and the prequels and the sequels um
0:25:26.720,0:25:34.080
it was all still the same storyline
0:25:30.480,0:25:37.520
you know this the um the skywalker
0:25:34.080,0:25:42.240
saga um where here that when you had
0:25:37.520,0:25:44.640
um the um uh the mandalorian season two
0:25:42.240,0:25:46.240
now you got to see some of these other
0:25:44.640,0:25:49.520
characters that now
0:25:46.240,0:25:52.240
they’re gonna bring out um
0:25:49.520,0:25:53.679
into other things as well as you know
0:25:52.240,0:25:56.400
the little teaser that you had for the
0:25:53.679,0:25:58.880
book of boba fett so now
0:25:56.400,0:26:00.400
they’re they’re teasing a little bit of
0:25:58.880,0:26:02.320
one to give you
0:26:00.400,0:26:04.000
you know a taste of something coming
0:26:02.320,0:26:06.559
forward so the idea was kind of
0:26:04.000,0:26:07.760
how like with one division that’s
0:26:06.559,0:26:10.000
setting us up
0:26:07.760,0:26:11.919
you know a little bit for doctor strange
0:26:10.000,0:26:14.480
and captain marvel too
0:26:11.919,0:26:16.080
and that yes in the books and the
0:26:14.480,0:26:18.080
expanded universe
0:26:16.080,0:26:20.159
they did that for star wars but the
0:26:18.080,0:26:21.039
films didn’t do that so maybe that’s
0:26:20.159,0:26:23.760
what
0:26:21.039,0:26:26.000
you know the article is really trying
0:26:23.760,0:26:26.799
the films didn’t do it because the films
0:26:26.000,0:26:29.440
were
0:26:26.799,0:26:30.240
a serialized version of a single story
0:26:29.440,0:26:32.400
right
0:26:30.240,0:26:33.600
so everything in the films were
0:26:32.400,0:26:36.559
interrelated
0:26:33.600,0:26:38.480
right they didn’t have you know because
0:26:36.559,0:26:40.880
you figured you had uh
0:26:38.480,0:26:41.679
the offshoots you had the droid uh
0:26:40.880,0:26:45.440
animated
0:26:41.679,0:26:48.640
series you had the uh ebook
0:26:45.440,0:26:50.840
um series village of the damned
0:26:48.640,0:26:53.840
ewok or something i forget what it was
0:26:50.840,0:26:53.840
called
0:27:04.960,0:27:09.760
right so you had that before so for them
0:27:08.000,0:27:12.400
to pretend like they’re doing something
0:27:09.760,0:27:14.159
extraordinary here star wars was the
0:27:12.400,0:27:17.360
first
0:27:14.159,0:27:20.640
um real genre that
0:27:17.360,0:27:24.559
gave you that interconnected universe
0:27:20.640,0:27:27.039
every novel that came out was part of a
0:27:24.559,0:27:28.240
bigger universe the novels from the
0:27:27.039,0:27:30.480
expanded universe
0:27:28.240,0:27:31.279
explored all the stuff that disney’s
0:27:30.480,0:27:34.480
pretending
0:27:31.279,0:27:35.600
is new you know they they pitched uh the
0:27:34.480,0:27:38.159
mandalorians oh
0:27:35.600,0:27:40.000
you know the universe isn’t just about
0:27:38.159,0:27:42.399
skywalker we’re going to show you what
0:27:40.000,0:27:43.840
the fringe is doing and stuff like that
0:27:42.399,0:27:45.760
that’s all stuff that was done in the
0:27:43.840,0:27:47.679
novels and the comics to begin with so
0:27:45.760,0:27:50.799
for disney to pretend that they’re
0:27:47.679,0:27:52.159
inventing that is ridiculous for disney
0:27:50.799,0:27:53.120
to pretend
0:27:52.159,0:27:55.440
that they’re giving you this
0:27:53.120,0:27:57.760
interconnected universe it was
0:27:55.440,0:27:59.120
already there you know and i can’t even
0:27:57.760,0:28:00.559
give lucas credit for it because it
0:27:59.120,0:28:02.720
wasn’t lucas that did it
0:28:00.559,0:28:04.399
basically just sat back and said okay
0:28:02.720,0:28:04.960
this is what i did do whatever you would
0:28:04.399,0:28:07.520
want
0:28:04.960,0:28:09.279
just make sure i get my royalties as
0:28:07.520,0:28:10.080
long as he got his check he basically
0:28:09.279,0:28:11.760
let you do
0:28:10.080,0:28:13.440
pretty much anything that kind of fit
0:28:11.760,0:28:14.960
into the universe
0:28:13.440,0:28:16.320
the problem that you ran into with that
0:28:14.960,0:28:17.399
was that you went up getting some
0:28:16.320,0:28:20.480
inconsistencies
0:28:17.399,0:28:22.880
inconsistencies in canon
0:28:20.480,0:28:23.919
that they always seem to struggle with
0:28:22.880,0:28:26.080
um but
0:28:23.919,0:28:27.760
what what disney gave us with the marvel
0:28:26.080,0:28:31.360
cinematic universe
0:28:27.760,0:28:33.279
is built on what you got from
0:28:31.360,0:28:35.919
the comics and the books from star wars
0:28:33.279,0:28:37.679
and it was built on what you got
0:28:35.919,0:28:39.120
from the original comic series that
0:28:37.679,0:28:42.000
marvel did
0:28:39.120,0:28:42.880
disney’s not doing something unique and
0:28:42.000,0:28:45.120
original here
0:28:42.880,0:28:46.559
right so i you know let’s let’s make
0:28:45.120,0:28:49.760
sure that we get that straight
0:28:46.559,0:28:51.039
right um the fact that they’re putting
0:28:49.760,0:28:52.320
every one of their brother apparently
0:28:51.039,0:28:55.760
gets a tv show
0:28:52.320,0:28:58.080
with disney now right um if you happen
0:28:55.760,0:29:00.640
to be in a movie i mean i’m waiting for
0:28:58.080,0:29:02.240
you know skippy the jedi droid that that
0:29:00.640,0:29:03.120
showed up in mandalorian to get his own
0:29:02.240,0:29:06.240
series now
0:29:03.120,0:29:07.440
now that would be funny it’s that’s the
0:29:06.240,0:29:10.559
point that we’re at now
0:29:07.440,0:29:12.799
right and i know that’s where the genre
0:29:10.559,0:29:14.320
right and i know that that that’s always
0:29:12.799,0:29:17.919
been your thing is that
0:29:14.320,0:29:20.399
there’s going to be too much saturation
0:29:17.919,0:29:21.520
of it and that’s where the problem
0:29:20.399,0:29:24.000
always lied
0:29:21.520,0:29:24.559
back in the day when they started doing
0:29:24.000,0:29:27.360
too much
0:29:24.559,0:29:29.039
so is this gonna be too much and like
0:29:27.360,0:29:30.720
you’ve said before does everybody need a
0:29:29.039,0:29:31.600
backstory do we need to know what
0:29:30.720,0:29:34.640
happened
0:29:31.600,0:29:38.240
right you know exactly but
0:29:34.640,0:29:40.000
obviously i didn’t need to hear 50 times
0:29:38.240,0:29:41.520
in one movie that han solo wanted to be
0:29:40.000,0:29:44.320
a pilot i didn’t
0:29:41.520,0:29:45.440
i didn’t need them to cram 20 years of
0:29:44.320,0:29:48.559
han solo’s life
0:29:45.440,0:29:50.080
into a three-day version of a story they
0:29:48.559,0:29:53.039
did a terrible job with it
0:29:50.080,0:29:54.080
right you know they did a very good job
0:29:53.039,0:29:57.200
with
0:29:54.080,0:30:00.080
um rogue one right but
0:29:57.200,0:30:01.760
like you’re batting 500 at this point
0:30:00.080,0:30:04.399
yeah you know it’s hit and miss
0:30:01.760,0:30:06.240
and unfortunately with star wars with
0:30:04.399,0:30:07.760
with my star wars and everyone
0:30:06.240,0:30:10.240
else who’s a star wars fan feels the
0:30:07.760,0:30:11.039
same way you need a better batting
0:30:10.240,0:30:13.440
average than
0:30:11.039,0:30:14.559
than 50 right you need to do a better
0:30:13.440,0:30:17.200
job
0:30:14.559,0:30:18.640
and we’ve got what four new star wars
0:30:17.200,0:30:21.200
shows that are coming out for no
0:30:18.640,0:30:23.520
apparent reason whatsoever you know
0:30:21.200,0:30:26.399
cassian andor is getting a show
0:30:23.520,0:30:28.559
we know how his story ends we don’t need
0:30:26.399,0:30:31.120
to see the backstory of how he got to
0:30:28.559,0:30:31.120
rogue one
0:30:32.240,0:30:36.080
yeah i understand you know rogue one
0:30:35.440,0:30:38.799
makes sense
0:30:36.080,0:30:40.080
it was a great novel series i’d love to
0:30:38.799,0:30:41.600
see them incorporate some of the
0:30:40.080,0:30:45.520
personalities from the novel and
0:30:41.600,0:30:48.720
and that’s what i wouldn’t mind seeing
0:30:45.520,0:30:51.360
is something else like a rogue one
0:30:48.720,0:30:51.919
where it’s you know a one-off where
0:30:51.360,0:30:54.640
maybe
0:30:51.919,0:30:55.760
there’s one character that kind of you
0:30:54.640,0:30:57.600
know like you had
0:30:55.760,0:30:59.039
the darth vader scene and you had you
0:30:57.600,0:31:01.120
know the end with
0:30:59.039,0:31:02.159
you know princess leia because it was
0:31:01.120,0:31:05.200
setting up
0:31:02.159,0:31:08.559
so i could see them doing another
0:31:05.200,0:31:10.960
but you see one off disney needs
0:31:08.559,0:31:12.559
to do this because disney painted
0:31:10.960,0:31:15.120
themselves into a corner with
0:31:12.559,0:31:17.840
a trilogy right the sequel trilogy
0:31:15.120,0:31:21.919
because they said it so far in advance
0:31:17.840,0:31:23.840
they changed the complete dynamic by
0:31:21.919,0:31:26.080
throwing because
0:31:23.840,0:31:26.880
the time period from return of the jedi
0:31:26.080,0:31:28.799
until
0:31:26.880,0:31:30.640
force awakens had already been
0:31:28.799,0:31:32.480
established in the expanded universe so
0:31:30.640,0:31:34.559
there was an expectation
0:31:32.480,0:31:36.640
disney threw all of that right they
0:31:34.559,0:31:38.480
threw it out so all of the supporting
0:31:36.640,0:31:40.480
history that you had in the novels and
0:31:38.480,0:31:41.279
comics and video games up until that
0:31:40.480,0:31:43.519
point
0:31:41.279,0:31:45.039
became invalidated right so now they
0:31:43.519,0:31:48.320
stick a stake in the ground
0:31:45.039,0:31:49.919
35 years in the future that’s completely
0:31:48.320,0:31:52.559
different than anybody
0:31:49.919,0:31:54.320
although strikingly similar to what we
0:31:52.559,0:31:57.200
had we just changed the names have been
0:31:54.320,0:31:59.600
chained to protect the innocent
0:31:57.200,0:32:00.240
and you have no history of how you get
0:31:59.600,0:32:02.000
there
0:32:00.240,0:32:04.480
so you go from the empire to the first
0:32:02.000,0:32:05.279
order you go from the rebellion to the
0:32:04.480,0:32:07.279
republic
0:32:05.279,0:32:08.480
to the resistance but you have no
0:32:07.279,0:32:10.240
explanation
0:32:08.480,0:32:11.679
that would happen that way so they paint
0:32:10.240,0:32:13.519
themselves into the corner where they
0:32:11.679,0:32:15.200
have to now do this
0:32:13.519,0:32:17.360
and they tried doing it initially
0:32:15.200,0:32:19.840
through novels where
0:32:17.360,0:32:21.519
three percent roughly of the people who
0:32:19.840,0:32:23.039
watched the movies read the novel so
0:32:21.519,0:32:25.200
nobody got the back stories
0:32:23.039,0:32:27.200
right so now you’re gonna come out with
0:32:25.200,0:32:30.159
12 different tv series
0:32:27.200,0:32:31.200
to help fill that gap that has to help
0:32:30.159,0:32:32.960
fill it right because
0:32:31.200,0:32:34.559
we’ve got a little bit of that for the
0:32:32.960,0:32:38.240
mandalorian but
0:32:34.559,0:32:41.440
literally a morsel in the second season
0:32:38.240,0:32:42.159
get it so now you’re two seasons in you
0:32:41.440,0:32:44.399
basically
0:32:42.159,0:32:45.840
get a dribble of information to fill
0:32:44.399,0:32:47.279
that in and then you’ve got four more
0:32:45.840,0:32:50.000
series well they better start
0:32:47.279,0:32:51.760
filling in these gaps and giving people
0:32:50.000,0:32:53.200
some backstory instead of going off in a
0:32:51.760,0:32:56.880
completely different direction
0:32:53.200,0:32:57.440
right so what they’re doing is not
0:32:56.880,0:32:58.960
unique
0:32:57.440,0:33:00.960
and they have to do it because of the
0:32:58.960,0:33:03.600
way they decided to relaunch the
0:33:00.960,0:33:05.760
franchise under their own terms
0:33:03.600,0:33:08.840
so it’s their own fault that they have
0:33:05.760,0:33:10.960
to do this it’s not some benefit to the
0:33:08.840,0:33:14.399
fans
0:33:10.960,0:33:15.120
that’s my disney rant for today are you
0:33:14.399,0:33:18.640
done
0:33:15.120,0:33:22.840
i’m done and that is all we have for
0:33:18.640,0:33:24.159
tales for bitching from the dark side
0:33:22.840,0:33:27.360
here
0:33:24.159,0:33:29.039
hey we have cookies let’s uh let’s take
0:33:27.360,0:33:30.399
a break i’ll bring my blood pressure
0:33:29.039,0:33:39.840
back down a little bit and then we’ll
0:33:30.399,0:33:39.840
talk about some entertainment
0:33:40.559,0:33:45.760
insights into teens a podcast series
0:33:43.440,0:33:49.840

0:33:58.240,0:34:01.120

0:34:01.360,0:34:05.360
each week we talk about the topics
0:34:03.360,0:34:08.399
concerning today’s youth
0:34:05.360,0:34:10.800
we look at how the issues affect teens
0:34:08.399,0:34:11.520
how to cope with these issues and how
0:34:10.800,0:34:13.679
parents
0:34:11.520,0:34:17.040
friends and loved ones can help teens
0:34:13.679,0:34:17.040
handle these challenges

0:34:54.480,0:34:59.040
uh so from deadline.com uh it seems that
0:34:58.160,0:35:01.680
hbo
0:34:59.040,0:35:02.640
is planning a documentary on actor paul
0:35:01.680,0:35:05.359
rubins
0:35:02.640,0:35:07.359
so hbo is no stranger to shining a light
0:35:05.359,0:35:08.079
on some of hollywood’s most fascinating
0:35:07.359,0:35:10.160
people
0:35:08.079,0:35:12.000
and now it’s setting its sights on
0:35:10.160,0:35:14.240
spotlighting the person
0:35:12.000,0:35:15.839
who created one of the most beloved
0:35:14.240,0:35:18.079
characters
0:35:15.839,0:35:19.440
sources tell deadline that hbo
0:35:18.079,0:35:21.280
documentary films
0:35:19.440,0:35:23.680
is in production on a two-part
0:35:21.280,0:35:26.079
documentary about the life of paul
0:35:23.680,0:35:28.000
reubens who is the man behind pee-wee
0:35:26.079,0:35:30.000
herman
0:35:28.000,0:35:32.400
he had actually said i’ve been working
0:35:30.000,0:35:33.680
with hbo since they were called home box
0:35:32.400,0:35:35.920
office paul rubin
0:35:33.680,0:35:38.000
uh had said he said i’m honored and
0:35:35.920,0:35:38.560
excited to continue my long history
0:35:38.000,0:35:40.880
there
0:35:38.560,0:35:42.480
i love hbo but i’m not going to marry
0:35:40.880,0:35:46.480
them
0:35:42.480,0:35:49.599
i thought that was funny um so um
0:35:46.480,0:35:51.599
the um the producer had said uh that he
0:35:49.599,0:35:54.000
was thrilled to partner with hbo
0:35:51.599,0:35:55.200
on paul’s incredible life story he’s a
0:35:54.000,0:35:57.440
once in a generation
0:35:55.200,0:35:59.839
talent whose brilliance created an
0:35:57.440,0:36:02.640
indelible pop culture phenomenon
0:35:59.839,0:36:04.720
audiences will be inspired and
0:36:02.640,0:36:06.880
entertained by paul’s creativity
0:36:04.720,0:36:08.960
resilience and determination as they get
0:36:06.880,0:36:10.320
to know the person behind the iconic
0:36:08.960,0:36:12.480
character
0:36:10.320,0:36:14.400
he had actually started as an
0:36:12.480,0:36:17.599
improvisational comedian
0:36:14.400,0:36:20.400
and stage actor uh in los angeles
0:36:17.599,0:36:22.640
uh in with the comedy troupe uh the
0:36:20.400,0:36:24.640
groundlings in the 1970s
0:36:22.640,0:36:26.640
uh and his big break came when he
0:36:24.640,0:36:29.760
introduced the world to pee-wee herman
0:36:26.640,0:36:32.560
in 1982 in a comedy show
0:36:29.760,0:36:34.640
in los angeles the show would end up
0:36:32.560,0:36:38.480
selling out for five straight months
0:36:34.640,0:36:41.359
and then hbo decided to produce a
0:36:38.480,0:36:41.839
special around one of the performances
0:36:41.359,0:36:43.839
um
0:36:41.839,0:36:45.680
and then over the next decade rubens
0:36:43.839,0:36:47.920
would appear as
0:36:45.680,0:36:49.760
the hermann character in two movies
0:36:47.920,0:36:51.599
which would be pee-wee’s big adventure
0:36:49.760,0:36:54.320
which was in 1985
0:36:51.599,0:36:56.880
and was directed by tim burton and then
0:36:54.320,0:36:58.960
big top peewee in 1988
0:36:56.880,0:37:00.560
rubens and the character hit their true
0:36:58.960,0:37:03.920
peak when cbs actually
0:37:00.560,0:37:06.000
gave them a saturday morning kids show
0:37:03.920,0:37:07.119
peewee’s playhouse now what’s kind of
0:37:06.000,0:37:11.200
funny is if you ever
0:37:07.119,0:37:14.160
watch the original um hbo
0:37:11.200,0:37:14.640
uh show of his show it was not a kid’s
0:37:14.160,0:37:17.599
show
0:37:14.640,0:37:18.960
at all so it was kind of funny uh for
0:37:17.599,0:37:20.800
fans that
0:37:18.960,0:37:22.720
had seen his original show and then all
0:37:20.800,0:37:26.079
of a sudden he
0:37:22.720,0:37:29.280
was able to turn it into the kids show
0:37:26.079,0:37:32.960
and that ran uh for four years on cbs
0:37:29.280,0:37:35.760
um and um the
0:37:32.960,0:37:37.359
one of the other uh producers of the
0:37:35.760,0:37:38.960
documentary it said we all know
0:37:37.359,0:37:41.920
pee wee herman and it’s time for the
0:37:38.960,0:37:43.680
world to actually meet paul rubins
0:37:41.920,0:37:45.920
sources say that the documentary is
0:37:43.680,0:37:48.560
expected to focus not only on
0:37:45.920,0:37:49.680
the hermann years but also include
0:37:48.560,0:37:52.800
rubin’s post
0:37:49.680,0:37:54.079
peewee decades where he put the bow tie
0:37:52.800,0:37:57.200
away to focus
0:37:54.079,0:37:59.520
uh on acting projects that included um
0:37:57.200,0:38:01.200
ben stiller’s mystery men buffy the
0:37:59.520,0:38:04.640
vampire slayer movie
0:38:01.200,0:38:07.839
uh and blow where he uh starred
0:38:04.640,0:38:09.280
opposite uh johnny depp uh rubens did
0:38:07.839,0:38:13.040
eventually bring back
0:38:09.280,0:38:15.280
the hermann character um in 2016
0:38:13.040,0:38:16.160
in the netflix movie peewee’s big
0:38:15.280,0:38:19.280
holiday
0:38:16.160,0:38:23.040
which had ruben’s fan judd apatow
0:38:19.280,0:38:24.880
producing um so given how private
0:38:23.040,0:38:26.720
rubens has been over the years this will
0:38:24.880,0:38:28.079
mark the first film that will actually
0:38:26.720,0:38:29.920
document his life
0:38:28.079,0:38:32.480
and given his early ties that he has
0:38:29.920,0:38:34.480
with hbo it makes sense that they’d be
0:38:32.480,0:38:36.640
the one to tell his story
0:38:34.480,0:38:38.240
very interesting now is this going to be
0:38:36.640,0:38:38.560
a standalone or just going to be part of
0:38:38.240,0:38:41.440
a
0:38:38.560,0:38:43.280
a documentary series that hbo is putting
0:38:41.440,0:38:45.760
together it’s just a two-part
0:38:43.280,0:38:46.720
series that they’re doing and hbo does
0:38:45.760,0:38:48.960
these
0:38:46.720,0:38:51.200
various documentary series some of them
0:38:48.960,0:38:53.760
are a couple of episodes some are
0:38:51.200,0:38:55.280
just one episode so this will actually
0:38:53.760,0:38:58.000
be a two-part
0:38:55.280,0:38:59.680
one so were you uh were you a peewee fan
0:38:58.000,0:39:02.720
oh absolutely
0:38:59.680,0:39:05.920
the movies the tv show or both all of it
0:39:02.720,0:39:07.839
you know i had i had probably i probably
0:39:05.920,0:39:10.960
saw the hbo special
0:39:07.839,0:39:13.200
when i was probably too young to have
0:39:10.960,0:39:14.800
seen the hbo special
0:39:13.200,0:39:16.480
that was the thing my parents never
0:39:14.800,0:39:19.680
really uh put those
0:39:16.480,0:39:21.200
parental controls on the tv so i became
0:39:19.680,0:39:24.240
a fan so
0:39:21.200,0:39:26.000
you know watching it i didn’t get half
0:39:24.240,0:39:27.200
of the jokes you know i was a little too
0:39:26.000,0:39:29.599
young so then
0:39:27.200,0:39:30.800
when the movies came out big fan of the
0:39:29.599,0:39:33.200
movies and then
0:39:30.800,0:39:34.720
you know when the the kids show came out
0:39:33.200,0:39:38.160
of course i was
0:39:34.720,0:39:40.320
older but you know it was it was just
0:39:38.160,0:39:42.560
so cool i had to watch it you know
0:39:40.320,0:39:44.240
anyway so yeah i was always a big fan i
0:39:42.560,0:39:46.800
don’t think i ever saw the
0:39:44.240,0:39:47.920
the netflix special i don’t know if i
0:39:46.800,0:39:50.160
did i don’t remember
0:39:47.920,0:39:51.280
i had to look it up yeah yeah so but he
0:39:50.160,0:39:54.720
also recently
0:39:51.280,0:39:57.040
was in uh gotham right yeah he was in
0:39:54.720,0:39:57.920
he was in gotham he played penguin’s
0:39:57.040,0:40:00.560
father right
0:39:57.920,0:40:01.040
yeah so he was a perfect fit oh my
0:40:00.560,0:40:04.000
character
0:40:01.040,0:40:05.280
yeah absolutely and he and and um the
0:40:04.000,0:40:07.920
actor that played uh
0:40:05.280,0:40:09.440
penguin you know he totally looks like
0:40:07.920,0:40:11.839
uh they could be father inside
0:40:09.440,0:40:14.160
but i remember when you know i went to
0:40:11.839,0:40:16.560
go see buffy the vampire slayer movie in
0:40:14.160,0:40:19.920
the theater not knowing that he was in
0:40:16.560,0:40:21.680
it and he came on you’re like
0:40:19.920,0:40:23.760
i think that’s pee wee herman you know
0:40:21.680,0:40:24.000
so it was so it so it’s always been nice
0:40:23.760,0:40:27.359
to
0:40:24.000,0:40:29.760
kind of see him pop up um
0:40:27.359,0:40:31.920
you know in other things so yeah all we
0:40:29.760,0:40:34.400
always have been a fan so
0:40:31.920,0:40:35.280
so let’s talk about san diego comic-con
0:40:34.400,0:40:37.359
and how it’s
0:40:35.280,0:40:38.640
yeah let’s book our bring us back
0:40:37.359,0:40:42.160
tickets
0:40:38.640,0:40:44.960
to the living room so
0:40:42.160,0:40:46.400
uh san diego comic-con will hold two
0:40:44.960,0:40:49.680
events this year
0:40:46.400,0:40:52.480
one virtual and one in person so san
0:40:49.680,0:40:54.720
diego comic-con began in the 1970s
0:40:52.480,0:40:57.359
as a comic book convention but the event
0:40:54.720,0:40:58.640
has exploded in recent years to become
0:40:57.359,0:41:01.440
one of the most
0:40:58.640,0:41:02.079
anticipated pop culture events of the
0:41:01.440,0:41:05.359
year
0:41:02.079,0:41:08.160
it’s definitely been on our bucket list
0:41:05.359,0:41:10.160
for years now uh so the convention
0:41:08.160,0:41:12.640
typically draws a hundred and thirty
0:41:10.160,0:41:14.400
thousand attendees to san diego
0:41:12.640,0:41:16.960
who are eager to find out the latest
0:41:14.400,0:41:18.640
news about their favorite franchises
0:41:16.960,0:41:21.280
last year though for the 50th
0:41:18.640,0:41:23.920
anniversary san diego comic-con
0:41:21.280,0:41:25.599
was held online due to the coronavirus
0:41:23.920,0:41:27.839
pandemic
0:41:25.599,0:41:30.480
so san diego comic con was just one of
0:41:27.839,0:41:32.000
the many festivals in 2020 that was hit
0:41:30.480,0:41:34.160
with cancellation
0:41:32.000,0:41:36.160
the pandemic continues obviously to
0:41:34.160,0:41:38.400
affect the entertainment industry as
0:41:36.160,0:41:40.960
theaters remain mostly closed
0:41:38.400,0:41:42.079
and film and television productions have
0:41:40.960,0:41:45.359
to follow strict
0:41:42.079,0:41:47.280
safety protocols to stay safe so as
0:41:45.359,0:41:48.640
vaccines are continuing to roll out
0:41:47.280,0:41:50.720
across the country
0:41:48.640,0:41:51.920
many are trying to gauge when it’ll be
0:41:50.720,0:41:54.000
safe to do
0:41:51.920,0:41:55.920
events like comic con again
0:41:54.000,0:41:58.960
unfortunately this summer might be too
0:41:55.920,0:41:59.920
soon so san diego had announced that the
0:41:58.960,0:42:02.880
convention would go
0:41:59.920,0:42:05.359
virtual again this year the three-day
0:42:02.880,0:42:05.920
three-day event will be held online from
0:42:05.359,0:42:09.280
july
0:42:05.920,0:42:11.920
23rd through the 25th
0:42:09.280,0:42:12.720
but to make up for this turn of events
0:42:11.920,0:42:15.200
though
0:42:12.720,0:42:16.560
they are putting on an in-person
0:42:15.200,0:42:19.520
convention sometime
0:42:16.560,0:42:20.560
in november when it may be safer to
0:42:19.520,0:42:22.720
gather
0:42:20.560,0:42:24.640
they haven’t really provided any details
0:42:22.720,0:42:26.880
yet about the november event
0:42:24.640,0:42:27.680
but they say that information about the
0:42:26.880,0:42:30.480
dates
0:42:27.680,0:42:33.200
badge prices and other information will
0:42:30.480,0:42:34.880
be announced as they know more
0:42:33.200,0:42:36.960
so there is some hope out there for
0:42:34.880,0:42:38.640
conventions this season
0:42:36.960,0:42:40.960
uh there was another convention that was
0:42:38.640,0:42:41.599
recently rescheduled in our area wasn’t
0:42:40.960,0:42:44.400
there
0:42:41.599,0:42:45.200
uh zolokon right zolokan normally
0:42:44.400,0:42:48.720
happens
0:42:45.200,0:42:51.760
in february um and they have
0:42:48.720,0:42:54.880
it listed as july
0:42:51.760,0:42:55.680
right now so but that could bump that
0:42:54.880,0:42:58.960
could bomb
0:42:55.680,0:43:00.000
i could totally see them doing time
0:42:58.960,0:43:02.560
tickets
0:43:00.000,0:43:03.280
and you know you have to buy your ticket
0:43:02.560,0:43:07.040
in advance
0:43:03.280,0:43:08.480
not at the door you know type thing um
0:43:07.040,0:43:10.400
you know like some of these other events
0:43:08.480,0:43:12.400
that they’ve been doing uh
0:43:10.400,0:43:14.480
that have started to kind of pop up so i
0:43:12.400,0:43:17.680
could i could see them doing that
0:43:14.480,0:43:20.880
again with zolokon it’s
0:43:17.680,0:43:22.960
it’s a very cramped
0:43:20.880,0:43:24.079
area so i you know unless you’re
0:43:22.960,0:43:27.359
limiting
0:43:24.079,0:43:29.920
the amount of uh vendors
0:43:27.359,0:43:31.599
to kind of space the vendors out because
0:43:29.920,0:43:33.920
they have multiple rooms that they do
0:43:31.599,0:43:34.640
right they have multiple rooms at the
0:43:33.920,0:43:37.280
fuge
0:43:34.640,0:43:38.880
right so you have the one you know
0:43:37.280,0:43:42.000
circular room
0:43:38.880,0:43:43.599
where i guess maybe if you only did like
0:43:42.000,0:43:45.040
i think they always have like two
0:43:43.599,0:43:48.720
there’s an outer ring
0:43:45.040,0:43:52.160
and then a ring and then a radial ring
0:43:48.720,0:43:52.640
right so maybe do only you know an outer
0:43:52.160,0:43:55.200
and an
0:43:52.640,0:43:56.240
inner um and then for some of the other
0:43:55.200,0:43:58.640
rooms that they
0:43:56.240,0:43:59.359
kind of pack people in a little bit more
0:43:58.640,0:44:02.400
maybe do
0:43:59.359,0:44:05.040
half capacity yeah are you there
0:44:02.400,0:44:06.960
so do it you can do it safely you can do
0:44:05.040,0:44:09.040
it smartly you and i by that point will
0:44:06.960,0:44:10.800
have both of our
0:44:09.040,0:44:12.240
vaccine shots so we’ll be fully
0:44:10.800,0:44:14.640
vaccinated
0:44:12.240,0:44:15.359
um but you know even if we go we’ll
0:44:14.640,0:44:18.480
still be wearing
0:44:15.359,0:44:20.960
oh absolutely absolutely i you know that
0:44:18.480,0:44:22.079
there’s no just because we’re vaccinated
0:44:20.960,0:44:24.079
doesn’t mean
0:44:22.079,0:44:25.359
we don’t want to protect ourselves from
0:44:24.079,0:44:27.440
you know
0:44:25.359,0:44:28.640
possibly passing it on to to somebody
0:44:27.440,0:44:30.720
else or
0:44:28.640,0:44:32.319
you know getting it so yeah i see us
0:44:30.720,0:44:35.440
wearing masks
0:44:32.319,0:44:37.359
you know for for quite a while um but
0:44:35.440,0:44:40.400
it’ll be nice if some of these
0:44:37.359,0:44:42.480
events kind of you know yeah and what
0:44:40.400,0:44:42.960
what san diego comic-con is doing it’s
0:44:42.480,0:44:44.480
actually
0:44:42.960,0:44:46.480
kind of unique that they’re they are
0:44:44.480,0:44:48.000
splitting it in the two events
0:44:46.480,0:44:50.560
um and they’re scheduling their live
0:44:48.000,0:44:52.560
event further out right um
0:44:50.560,0:44:54.000
i i think it’s one of those things that
0:44:52.560,0:44:54.880
you know people need a little bit of
0:44:54.000,0:44:57.280
hope right now
0:44:54.880,0:44:58.000
right you you need to kind of you know
0:44:57.280,0:45:01.280
like hey
0:44:58.000,0:45:04.400
if zolokon is up and running by then
0:45:01.280,0:45:05.280
or even um you know the the other
0:45:04.400,0:45:08.720
convention
0:45:05.280,0:45:11.839
uh location in our area uh in oaks
0:45:08.720,0:45:14.960
right that’s a very that’s a large
0:45:11.839,0:45:17.520
area and that even when we’ve gone to
0:45:14.960,0:45:18.079
retrocon well the one that we did do was
0:45:17.520,0:45:20.880
the
0:45:18.079,0:45:21.200
the lego one that was very well spaced
0:45:20.880,0:45:23.200
out
0:45:21.200,0:45:24.400
right the lego one was very well spaced
0:45:23.200,0:45:27.440
out even the
0:45:24.400,0:45:30.960
the what was it the greater philadelphia
0:45:27.440,0:45:34.000
comic con that was very well spaced out
0:45:30.960,0:45:35.200
so you know in a lot of these cases you
0:45:34.000,0:45:37.119
know depending on the venue
0:45:35.200,0:45:39.119
they could definitely get away with
0:45:37.119,0:45:41.040
doing you know again
0:45:39.119,0:45:42.720
you have to buy your ticket online so
0:45:41.040,0:45:45.280
this way they can you know
0:45:42.720,0:45:46.640
manage how many people are coming do
0:45:45.280,0:45:47.760
time tickets
0:45:46.640,0:45:50.319
you know so that you don’t have
0:45:47.760,0:45:51.200
everybody coming you know coming in at
0:45:50.319,0:45:53.119
once
0:45:51.200,0:45:55.359
um you know in most of the comic cons
0:45:53.119,0:45:58.400
you have people that don’t stay all day
0:45:55.359,0:46:00.160
you know anyway um so i think the ones
0:45:58.400,0:46:03.280
that are are the bigger draw
0:46:00.160,0:46:03.599
like the san diego like new york you
0:46:03.280,0:46:06.160
know
0:46:03.599,0:46:06.720
could new york that’s going to be a
0:46:06.160,0:46:08.960
while
0:46:06.720,0:46:11.119
until i think they’re able to do that
0:46:08.960,0:46:13.599
there’s two packages
0:46:11.119,0:46:15.520
right exactly so you know some of the
0:46:13.599,0:46:15.839
locations that you know that we’ve gone
0:46:15.520,0:46:18.880
to
0:46:15.839,0:46:21.440
could totally be done uh you know
0:46:18.880,0:46:23.359
in this environment you know and you
0:46:21.440,0:46:25.920
know maybe by the end of the year so
0:46:23.359,0:46:27.440
good news in the right direction and
0:46:25.920,0:46:29.040
hopefully the light at the end of the
0:46:27.440,0:46:31.680
tunnel is not too far off yeah
0:46:29.040,0:46:33.200
absolutely so we’ll be back after a
0:46:31.680,0:46:36.330
quick break and we’ll get into our
0:46:33.200,0:46:40.240
insightful picks of the week
0:46:36.330,0:46:42.720
[Applause]
0:46:40.240,0:46:43.599
go for your insightful pick so my
0:46:42.720,0:46:47.119
insightful pick
0:46:43.599,0:46:50.480
is uh on a um
0:46:47.119,0:46:53.520
ten part series on uh netflix called
0:46:50.480,0:46:57.040
ginny and georgia um it’s
0:46:53.520,0:46:58.160
uh dramedy uh i guess is how they
0:46:57.040,0:47:00.960
described it so
0:46:58.160,0:47:03.119
it follows free-spirited georgia and her
0:47:00.960,0:47:05.200
two kids jenny and austin
0:47:03.119,0:47:06.160
how they move to the north in search of
0:47:05.200,0:47:07.920
a fresh start
0:47:06.160,0:47:11.119
but find that the road to a new
0:47:07.920,0:47:14.000
beginning can be bumpy
0:47:11.119,0:47:14.560
the the story centers around jenny who
0:47:14.000,0:47:18.400
is
0:47:14.560,0:47:22.000
a 15 year old high school uh
0:47:18.400,0:47:25.359
student and her mom uh jenny
0:47:22.000,0:47:27.599
georgia who’s 30 but yet ginny is a
0:47:25.359,0:47:30.800
little bit more mature than her mom
0:47:27.599,0:47:34.000
um and it uh it shows how they
0:47:30.800,0:47:37.040
kind of are trying to plant their roots
0:47:34.000,0:47:38.400
in a small new england town and you find
0:47:37.040,0:47:41.680
out that
0:47:38.400,0:47:45.359
you know um
0:47:41.680,0:47:48.880
uh george has gone through a lot in her
0:47:45.359,0:47:50.000
her 30 years um and that you know some
0:47:48.880,0:47:53.040
of her past
0:47:50.000,0:47:56.640
is kind of starting to catch up with her
0:47:53.040,0:48:00.160
and that you know everything isn’t as
0:47:56.640,0:48:04.079
peachy as as you would you know think
0:48:00.160,0:48:04.800
um it’s it’s not your typical teen drama
0:48:04.079,0:48:07.119
it’s it’s
0:48:04.800,0:48:07.839
definitely you know where uh the last
0:48:07.119,0:48:10.559
time we did an
0:48:07.839,0:48:11.680
insightful pick um you know that was
0:48:10.559,0:48:15.359
much more of a
0:48:11.680,0:48:17.599
teen uh you know um rom-com
0:48:15.359,0:48:18.720
type thing where this kind of has
0:48:17.599,0:48:21.920
aspects of it
0:48:18.720,0:48:25.359
but it’s it’s darker uh as well
0:48:21.920,0:48:29.440
um the other thing is um
0:48:25.359,0:48:32.400
they show and and and talk about
0:48:29.440,0:48:34.640
um you know how how teens you know
0:48:32.400,0:48:36.960
sometimes do the self-harm
0:48:34.640,0:48:38.559
um and they actually have at the end of
0:48:36.960,0:48:41.280
some of the episodes
0:48:38.559,0:48:42.720
if you or someone you know you know
0:48:41.280,0:48:46.160
needs to talk to somebody
0:48:42.720,0:48:49.359
please call um this number so
0:48:46.160,0:48:51.520
that was kind of um
0:48:49.359,0:48:52.480
nice to see that they they put that out
0:48:51.520,0:48:55.680
there
0:48:52.480,0:48:58.400
and that it’s not you know all
0:48:55.680,0:48:59.200
hunky-dory and life isn’t all peachy
0:48:58.400,0:49:01.520
keen
0:48:59.200,0:49:02.400
um you know so you have these dark you
0:49:01.520,0:49:06.079
know things
0:49:02.400,0:49:08.800
um uh that that kind of come in so
0:49:06.079,0:49:09.440
um you know not meant for kids even
0:49:08.800,0:49:12.720
though
0:49:09.440,0:49:14.839
again the one character uh is based
0:49:12.720,0:49:17.520
you know in high school um but
0:49:14.839,0:49:19.200
definitely along the lines of the
0:49:17.520,0:49:22.240
firefly lane
0:49:19.200,0:49:26.000
and uh virgin river
0:49:22.240,0:49:28.640
and and that type of you know uh
0:49:26.000,0:49:30.160
uh entertainment so if you know if those
0:49:28.640,0:49:31.680
are the types of shows that you like
0:49:30.160,0:49:33.599
this would be one that you’d be
0:49:31.680,0:49:35.320
interested in okay good pick
0:49:33.599,0:49:39.200
thank you
0:49:35.320,0:49:42.240
[Applause]
0:49:39.200,0:49:43.680
so my pick this week i jumped on this
0:49:42.240,0:49:45.760
one as quickly as i could before you
0:49:43.680,0:49:48.240
could steal it from me
0:49:45.760,0:49:48.800
uh it’s only got one episode out so far
0:49:48.240,0:49:50.720
and it’s
0:49:48.800,0:49:52.400
it’s fresh off the presses as a friday
0:49:50.720,0:49:55.839
and that’s marvel studios
0:49:52.400,0:49:58.000
assembled on disney plus assembled is a
0:49:55.839,0:50:00.880
comprehensive series of documentary
0:49:58.000,0:50:02.880
style specials streaming on disney plus
0:50:00.880,0:50:05.520
that chronicles the creation
0:50:02.880,0:50:07.760
of marvel studios thrilling new shows
0:50:05.520,0:50:10.400
and theatrical releases
0:50:07.760,0:50:12.480
journey behind the scenes of productions
0:50:10.400,0:50:13.839
such as wanda vision the falcon in the
0:50:12.480,0:50:17.440
winter soldier
0:50:13.839,0:50:20.319
and loki via exclusive on-set footage
0:50:17.440,0:50:22.400
join filmmakers and stars like scarlett
0:50:20.319,0:50:25.920
johansson and jeremy renner
0:50:22.400,0:50:27.839
as they deal as they detail the genesis
0:50:25.920,0:50:30.640
of the black widow film
0:50:27.839,0:50:31.280
and the hawkeye series assembled as an
0:50:30.640,0:50:33.760
immersive
0:50:31.280,0:50:36.640
and in-depth examination of the next
0:50:33.760,0:50:40.160
phase of the marvel cinematic universe
0:50:36.640,0:50:42.559
one of the things that i do enjoy about
0:50:40.160,0:50:44.559
the new shows that disney is doing both
0:50:42.559,0:50:46.480
the star wars and the marvel shows
0:50:44.559,0:50:48.319
is that when they shoot the shows they
0:50:46.480,0:50:49.119
shoot the shows and the documentaries at
0:50:48.319,0:50:50.880
the same time
0:50:49.119,0:50:52.079
yes so you’re getting the interviews
0:50:50.880,0:50:53.520
you’re getting the behind the scenes
0:50:52.079,0:50:54.960
stuff so they already know they’re
0:50:53.520,0:50:55.839
making the documentary so they’re not
0:50:54.960,0:50:57.520
going back and
0:50:55.839,0:50:59.280
scrubbing through footage right or
0:50:57.520,0:51:01.920
having to try and remember
0:50:59.280,0:51:02.880
oh what did i i can’t remember that was
0:51:01.920,0:51:04.800
so far ago
0:51:02.880,0:51:08.480
right so they’re doing a very good job
0:51:04.800,0:51:11.359
of producing the material for the um
0:51:08.480,0:51:13.280
for the documentary and as soon as wanda
0:51:11.359,0:51:15.040
vision finished the documentary landed
0:51:13.280,0:51:18.000
the following friday
0:51:15.040,0:51:18.559
and it was a great look it’s i mean
0:51:18.000,0:51:20.480
you’re
0:51:18.559,0:51:22.559
watching them interviewed on the sets
0:51:20.480,0:51:25.599
that you saw on tv
0:51:22.559,0:51:26.640
in the shows so it gives you a very
0:51:25.599,0:51:29.839
in-the-moment
0:51:26.640,0:51:31.760
sense of realism
0:51:29.839,0:51:33.359
you know in the documentary itself and
0:51:31.760,0:51:35.119
you see the behind-the-scenes stuff
0:51:33.359,0:51:36.880
one of the things that we noticed on the
0:51:35.119,0:51:38.800
the wanda vision one
0:51:36.880,0:51:39.920
was just how much wire work they were
0:51:38.800,0:51:42.240
doing yeah
0:51:39.920,0:51:43.839
you would have thought given the the
0:51:42.240,0:51:45.040
level of technology they have in
0:51:43.839,0:51:48.559
post-production that
0:51:45.040,0:51:51.440
you wouldn’t have your premier
0:51:48.559,0:51:52.640
primetime actors dangling from an
0:51:51.440,0:51:54.640
apparatus
0:51:52.640,0:51:56.000
in the ceiling right but they are
0:51:54.640,0:51:56.640
they’re not stunt doubles they’re the
0:51:56.000,0:51:58.640
actual
0:51:56.640,0:52:00.000
actors and it lends such a level of
0:51:58.640,0:52:02.839
realism to the show
0:52:00.000,0:52:05.280
yeah um and just hearing the the
0:52:02.839,0:52:07.280
personalities and the camaraderie on the
0:52:05.280,0:52:10.079
set and everything it’s
0:52:07.280,0:52:12.720
it it makes you feel like you’re part of
0:52:10.079,0:52:14.480
the experience more than anything
0:52:12.720,0:52:15.839
so i’m very much looking forward to the
0:52:14.480,0:52:16.960
additional episodes that they’re going
0:52:15.839,0:52:17.440
to have in this series they didn’t say
0:52:16.960,0:52:18.800
how many
0:52:17.440,0:52:20.960
episodes they’re going to have total in
0:52:18.800,0:52:22.559
the series but i think that’s going to
0:52:20.960,0:52:23.119
depend entirely on how many more
0:52:22.559,0:52:25.040
episodes
0:52:23.119,0:52:26.960
of how many more shows they come out
0:52:25.040,0:52:30.800
right and and obviously
0:52:26.960,0:52:33.680
to for for them they’re not releasing
0:52:30.800,0:52:34.000
an episode until the whole series has
0:52:33.680,0:52:35.760
right
0:52:34.000,0:52:36.960
has dropped so that which is good
0:52:35.760,0:52:37.920
because there’s so many spoilers there’s
0:52:36.960,0:52:40.240
so many spots
0:52:37.920,0:52:40.960
yeah so if you haven’t watched wanda
0:52:40.240,0:52:43.599
vision
0:52:40.960,0:52:44.720
don’t watch this yet because it’s gonna
0:52:43.599,0:52:47.680
ruin
0:52:44.720,0:52:50.240
you know everything but it was you know
0:52:47.680,0:52:54.000
again we know how much detail
0:52:50.240,0:52:57.200
they put into all of their projects
0:52:54.000,0:52:58.800
but to see you know and hear how much
0:52:57.200,0:53:02.480
detail went into just
0:52:58.800,0:53:04.240
one episode um of wanda vision
0:53:02.480,0:53:06.000
to you know to the fact that you know
0:53:04.240,0:53:08.800
the special effects artist
0:53:06.000,0:53:10.079
happened to work you know he interned on
0:53:08.800,0:53:12.559
bewitched
0:53:10.079,0:53:14.400
and you know and they did practical and
0:53:12.559,0:53:15.599
they did they were wire effects they
0:53:14.400,0:53:17.119
weren’t computer generated right
0:53:15.599,0:53:19.119
and that’s what they did was that you
0:53:17.119,0:53:22.079
know for each decade
0:53:19.119,0:53:24.160
of you know the show they went with the
0:53:22.079,0:53:24.880
whole mentality of okay we’re filming
0:53:24.160,0:53:28.480
this as
0:53:24.880,0:53:29.839
if we were in the 50s the 60s and 70s
0:53:28.480,0:53:30.960
they’ve brought in the traditional
0:53:29.839,0:53:33.119
lighting to get right
0:53:30.960,0:53:35.760
lighting effects right even your studio
0:53:33.119,0:53:37.680
audience is actually dressed in pieces
0:53:35.760,0:53:38.880
i thought like and that was something
0:53:37.680,0:53:41.520
that you would have never
0:53:38.880,0:53:42.319
known from watching the show and even
0:53:41.520,0:53:44.640
the audience
0:53:42.319,0:53:46.160
the the chairs the chairs the railings
0:53:44.640,0:53:49.599
everything was done to
0:53:46.160,0:53:52.000
period standards yeah like who does that
0:53:49.599,0:53:53.359
that level of detail is just insane
0:53:52.000,0:53:56.319
right and for something that
0:53:53.359,0:53:57.760
isn’t going to show up in the show right
0:53:56.319,0:54:00.640
and it’s one episode
0:53:57.760,0:54:01.119
and it was just one episode before so
0:54:00.640,0:54:03.760
very cool
0:54:01.119,0:54:04.720
very cool marvel studios assembled
0:54:03.760,0:54:11.040
streaming now
